Took me a second to realize the concept, but once I did, really innovative! Loved it!!

shieldgenerator7 2018-12-04 03:19

so cool! such a cool concept for a puzzle game! and well polished too!

torcado 2018-12-04 03:41

jeez guys i haven't even posted about the game yet!

thanks a lot <3!

stevenjmiller 2018-12-04 04:32

Fantastic game, I would love to see this extended. The last few levels were very rewarding and I thought the difficulty curve was well done overall. As a side note, this may be on my end, but I couldn't get the downloadable to work (I'm on Windows 10).

nuclearfriend 2018-12-04 04:50

Excellent game, smart mechanic, cerebral but not too much so! The difficulty ramp was really nice and introducing the lasers later in the game made things interesting again. Great entry!

torcado 2018-12-04 05:03

@stevenjmiller oh im a big dummy, it should be fixed now. thanks for letting me know!

adventureislands 2018-12-04 05:43

This game is super cute and well made! Excellent use of the theme. At first I thought the game bugged out when I got to the lasers, but then realized they actually keep your button pressed. This is definitely one of my favorite jam games. Great puzzles!

shieldgenerator7 2018-12-04 08:43

Is this puzzle possible to solve?

dropboy.png I dont want to know the solution just yet, just wanted to check to make sure it's possible

EDIT: nvm i figured it out

radonraph 2018-12-04 08:56

Very cool game ! really cool mechanics and graphics !

torcado 2018-12-04 09:08

@shieldgenerator7 i used that puzzle to try to teach the player that not every element needs to be used to solve a puzzle, but i didn't really use that concept in any other level so it probably couldve been left out haha

noa-calice 2018-12-04 09:14

An incredible little puzzle game ! It's simply amazing how in such a small amount of time you were able to design such clever, mind bending levels ! With each and every LD you seem to come up with fascinating, very interesting concepts ! Not to mention the simple but very satisfying graphics and animations (those squishy buttons and player character are awesome). Keep it up mate !

chao 2018-12-04 10:21

Really cool idea for a puzzle game. Fit well with the theme too. The puzzles got pretty gnarly later on as well. I didn't manage to finish it though, I dunno whether it was just my hardware but I was getting a memory leak on one of the levels, specifically the one you have shown in the post.

rk3omega 2018-12-04 13:10

Amazing game! Very innovative, the most clever use of theme that I've seen yet. I love the graphics; very polished very cute. The lasers were odd though, because if I messed up then I would have to super spam undo to try and go back faster than the laser was spamming my movement. Eventually that's what caused me to quit before finishing the game. :(

dunin 2018-12-04 14:30

Wow that brilliant! Love the idea, the style and the puzzles (the end is clever and fun!). It just needs sound AND A KEY CAPTURE (on itch HTML, each time I press down key, the web page scroll down...).

Bravo !

spierek 2018-12-04 14:47

Extremely good game. Had the same issue as @dunin which was a bit annoying, but aside from that I loved everything about it.

le-slo 2018-12-04 15:26

Very polished, original and interesting. Another awesome game by Torcado. The start was a bit repetitive (you could rotate or invert the level, only to sacrifice different directions) and the lack of sound and music is sad, but you can play with your own BSO!

arzi 2018-12-04 16:42

Wow! Such a simple, well executed puzzle game. This is pretty much the epitome of a great LD game.

radical-dog 2018-12-04 18:15

Really brilliant concept, and a solid execution! I only wish that it was clearer which particular buttons are needed to be held for each flag.

kantieno 2018-12-04 19:29

This is a very nice entry! The graphic are super smooth and the animations are satisfying! The puzzles took a while to ramp up in difficulty but the second to last level was pretty hard!

The game controls really good and the ability to reverse moves was a nice addition although it did not quite work on laser levels. This game fit the theme very nicely and the overall concept was good!

It could use a better ending and menus, but for a Ludum Dare game it worked well enough. The lack of sounds is a shame, hopefully you will continue working on it and add some!

Overall this is a very nice entry!

tay 2018-12-04 20:12

Clever idea, love it. The art is cute and the puzzle intriguing, awesome entry all over (despite the lack of sound)

torcado 2018-12-04 20:16

@dunin you can use WASD instead to prevent that!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone !

drunkardwolf 2018-12-04 20:35

love it. Great idea for the theme, fun and challenging puzzles, good job

derek-wilson 2018-12-04 21:44

Great job! Very clever mechanic. It took me a while to figure out what my goal was and how to achieve it. A very minimal tutorial (on the first level) would greatly help. Love the art and the subtle little animations, good job.

jackkutilek 2018-12-04 22:04

nice game! some good puzzles in there. I made a puzzle game based on the same idea, but I approached it a little differently :) The teleporters are a nice way to recover movement in a direction that you sacrificed. and its kinda fun you can drop two keys on a button =p it was a bit hard to tell which buttons were for doors and which ones were required to toggle the flag, but I had fun playing anyway, and the end was fun touch.

vatigo 2018-12-04 23:27

This game is amazing. I love puzzle games and with some sound effects and more levels this could easily be released as a full game. I loved everything about it, the simple but cute graphics, the thoughtful and thematic mechanics and well crafted puzzles. Great work!

blinry 2018-12-04 23:48

Super neat! :sparkles: I love the interpretation of the theme, and the puzzle progression, introducing new concepts one at a time! Juicy animations and simple, effective graphics!

The two puzzles introducing the lasers were kind of random, and the mechanic wasn't used much later. I would have loved some sound effects! The last level seemed impossible, and broke with the usual rules.

flauschzelle 2018-12-05 00:09

I love the idea and it's a lot of fun to play, although I didn't play all the levels because my computer kept crashing while I played (web version, but not sure if it had to do with the game) and I had to start over twice... Sounds effects would be a great idea, but even without them, I would like to play more of this :)

torcado 2018-12-05 00:23

@flauschzelle i'm sorry to hear that! There is an issue with chrome that i think is causing a memory leak? It runs fine on firefox (on my end), and flash/windows versions have no issue

flauschzelle 2018-12-05 00:30

Thanks for the quick answer :) I also use Firefox (on Linux) though, so it can't be a Chrome issue.

devharts 2018-12-05 02:22

Really clever puzzle mechanic and a great take on the theme! The only issue I ran into was the scrolling thing a few people have mentioned, where pressing the arrow keys would sometimes make the page scroll up and down. I enjoyed the puzzles and how they ramped up in difficulty as you progressed through the levels, some of the later ones got pretty challenging! :)

irock 2018-12-05 03:48

I'm always impressed by how clever your game jam games are. The concept and puzzle design is on point.

One thing that I stumbled with quite a bit was remembering what switches did what. If they had some color or symbol coordination that indicated their purpose (what doors they open, whether they activate a flag, etc), that would have helped. I wound up quitting on one of the more complex puzzles because my small brain couldn't handle it.

Also something I'm finding myself wanting while reviewing these LD games is for the levels to be named or numbered so I can refer to them or even know how far I am in the game.

It was really great overall though. You should make a quick post-competition version with some sound effects, because I'd love to give it another shot!.

torcado 2018-12-05 05:34

@irock thanks man! yeah originally there were going to be wires that visually connected switches to buttons, i just didn't have time to implement them

b.png

numbered levels is an interesting idea, i'll keep that in mind for next time!

brandon-js-lea 2018-12-05 07:13

A really creative use of the theme and there's a good amount of visual polish, particularly with the characters movement.

A couple of issue do bring it down for me. Firstly, pressing down scrolls the page down. Secondly, even the slightest sound would add a lot. Even some okay sound effects created in BFXR in 5 minutes would add a tonne.

The difficulty curve also feels very slow. Like the first 5ish puzzles are just the exact same puzzle in different arrangements which, combined with the scrolling issue, made it feel like a bit of a chore.

Despite the issues, this is still a nice idea well executed.

thebach 2018-12-05 10:04

Wow dude, this game is really fun to play. I can see you had a few hours left for polishing and stuff, but as you allready said before, I can see there are a few visual feedbacks missing (yeah, switches and portals without visual wires are a mess). I hope to do something even remotely similar to this project. Well done!

quackqack 2018-12-05 11:16

Great puzzle game. The levels appear to be well thought out and there is a pretty decent difficulty curve.

I really appreciate the undo feature, not having to restart the level when I overshoot a block is awesome.

nuccia 2018-12-05 14:57

Wow, nice use of the Theme ! Very interesting game, and fun. Well played !

aureol 2018-12-05 14:57

Original idea !

cyriaque 2018-12-05 14:58

Ok this is epic. The artsyle is simple but very effiscient, the animation is clear and fluid. and th gameplay idea is very original !

Congrats !

pantoufle 2018-12-05 15:40

I'm in love with this game! That's exactly the kind of puzzles I love: simple rules but each level brings a new and more difficult situation with an original way to solve it. On top of that, the graphics are very clear and funny.

For me, the only ingredients that are missing are sound effects and music.

5 stars anyway ;-)

Congratulations on making this game in such a short amount of time! Did you get the idea from the very start of the jam?

reality-blind 2018-12-05 16:40

Clever use of the theme, and great level designs !

The animations on the main character are really nice too, and we also have new mechanics as the game progresses. You provided everything we could want in this type of game, great job ! 😄

arimie 2018-12-05 17:20

Nice job, i like the game ! It would be better with sound !

banjoduarte 2018-12-05 18:09

Love puzzle games and this is a really nice one with what I think is pretty unique. Good job!

serwaastudio 2018-12-05 19:24

Love this game! It was really fun and original and the art was super cute. Super clever!

nkrim 2018-12-06 00:12

My favorite of the "input-sacrifice" mechanic games. A thoughtful puzzler (which I always enjoy seeing in jams), with a great look and clean game-feel. Fantastic!

exilegl 2018-12-06 01:24

Cool take on the theme! Cute art too. I enjoyed figuring out the various puzzles. Really loved the little teleports and ability to reclaim keys (wasn't aware of the reclaiming part at first and got stuck but figured out once I read the description).

huf0001 2018-12-07 00:32

Nice game :) my one criticism would be to use wasd for movement rather than the arrow keys, as for the html version I kept scrolling up and down when I wanted to move vertically.

torcado 2018-12-07 01:31

@huf0001 that's a good idea! i should've thought of that!

ah.png

torcado 2018-12-07 02:09

(well, i fixed the scrolling issue because of that anyway. sorry about that (it wasn't even my fault, thank Lime))

aeveis 2018-12-07 07:25

Beat it! I did run into some troubles on some platforms, though - I'm running on an oldish windows laptop. On html5 (on itch.io) the game got more and more laggy until it wasn't really playable (the browser was starting to freeze up) - I had to stop around the 4 door doors closing a button and there's 4 teleports level. So I switched to the lime build, but could place the keys down until I think I pressed the shift key and arrow keys down on the same frame. So then I switched to the flash build and that worked fine.

Nice puzzles, good use of taking away controls. I really like the laser holding the key down, though on one of the puzzles you sort of had to take advantage of undo in order to place the other key down. Nice job!

efealacamli 2018-12-07 20:42

Awesome game! Great mechanics for the theme and puzzle design is also very clever and balanced. Love this game <3

pablodap 2018-12-07 22:49

Really solid puzzle game! Cute graphics and interesting mechanics too. With some more puzzles you could even release it on mobile.

BTW, you sould rate a couple of games, it doesn't look too good if people are rating you and giving you praise but you didn't rate one yet. (I guess you didn't have time, just pointing it out)

Good luck, the game was really neat! Cheers!

torcado 2018-12-07 23:34

@pablodap probably, im just busy. i have like 4 projects im working on right now, one of which needs to be finished in a week, and also college finals. Also i'm not asking for ratings, i have more than enough.

Either way i *have* played other games, mostly friends' entries. i just somehow completely forgot to click the stars

@aeveis thanks! sorry about that, i really have no idea what's causing that. it happened to me only on chrome, so i figured it was either just a chrome thing or just something on my end, apparently not. Haven't found any issues with the windows build, but i'll keep that in mind

gordy 2018-12-08 21:41

Best entry so far... Love the idea and the puzzles! Thank you for this awesome game, I hope you will add some music and add new puzzles beacuse I would play love to see that! 5/5

pranjalbisht 2018-12-09 10:14

Brilliant puzzles, had a fun time solving them!

rkuhl 2018-12-09 15:18

I love the puzzles and the level progression. I liked each new concept you introduced, and it is a great interpretation of the theme. I like the minimal artwork as well.

lazertrax 2018-12-10 11:24

I always love a good puzzle and this was a great one! Fits the theme great and the puzzle designs are really well thought. Solid game, Good Job!

flashviper 2018-12-11 00:24

Nice puzzle game! On level 3 I got stuck for a while because I thought you had to press all 3 switches, so maybe you should remove some of the unnecessary elements in that. Other than that, I thought you made a terrific game!

bitdecay 2018-12-12 04:41

I've been wanting to do a puzzle game for a ludum dare for ages... This is so clean and fits the theme perfectly. Not much to say other than great job! I spent way too long looking at the last puzzle before realizing that it was a little different from the rest... I was like... this is actually impossible.

maskinmask 2018-12-14 06:57

Great job man! This game is so fucking good!

frescogusto 2018-12-14 11:20

very nice! puzzle easy and good

randomphantom 2018-12-16 15:40

Very unique! Love the juicy animations. Needs some sound FX. The puzzles were satisfying although some were a little unintuitive (not all switches are required, or switches requiring to be pressed in a certain order to activate). Great job!

randumsocks 2018-12-17 03:27

This is 10/10, would play again.

kerdelos 2018-12-18 12:36

Amazing puzzle game !

unidaystudio 2018-12-19 12:06

Another five star game! Very interesting concept. I thinked in something like this but I hd no idea how to make it works in a fun way. You made this. :)

wowa 2018-12-24 10:22

This is a damn clever puzzle game! Love it!

acaral 2018-12-24 17:45

It's so ingenious and the theme is so well interpreted.

cdunham 2018-12-24 20:07

Great game! Fits the theme extremely well and is fun to play! Near the end the player can kind of glitch out the doors if they're quick enough using the lasers, but other than that everything works great!

gunturtle 2018-12-27 05:12

Amazingly well polished and a very interesting concept! The difficulty curve felt kinda slow, but otherwise a really enjoyable game.

pinho 2019-01-01 12:20

This is a really good game ! You use the theme into the mechanics nicely. I first loved the juicy animation of movement. When I've losed a movement possibilty, the movement doesn't work I was nicely surprised !

fizzget 2020-04-20 09:10

first level - oh, this is going to be easy. eighth level - not its not!

really nice puzzle game, good difficulty curve so far, this is on my play more later list.
