LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Diortem by Ilseroth 2018-12-10T04:30:18Z

Awesome game. It looked, sounded, and felt like a relatively short but complete game that I imagine could have existed in the 80s or 90s. Jumping could have done with some work, and maybe a map or something to aid navigation, but overall, it was pretty fun. One of the best games for this game jam that I've seen.

dropboy by torcado 2018-12-07T00:32:35Z

Nice game :) my one criticism would be to use wasd for movement rather than the arrow keys, as for the html version I kept scrolling up and down when I wanted to move vertically.

Otto by nratcliff 2018-12-10T03:09:33Z

Cool take on the concept. Maybe an animation upon impact with the ground might have helped to make the game closer to the theme. Other than that, my only complaint is that it was sometimes a bit fiddly getting parts to click onto the connection nodes.

Noroi by Drauthius 2018-12-06T09:53:33Z

Cool idea, enjoyed the concept. Would prefer if it was a bit easier to move about seamlessly and to attack enemies, those qualities made it a bit difficult to survive more than a few waves. Looks nice, sounds good, the theme and mood of the game is consistent and quite resonant.

A Heart of Light by Mr ChocolateSalmon 2018-12-20T01:06:21Z

Wasn't quite sure where the game was going, but the look was good, the mechanic was interesting, and the aesthetic was nice. Could have done with some nice background music though.

Sacrificial Forest Friends by TheCrittersCove 2018-12-16T05:24:31Z

A cool take on the theme, though perhaps one that might feel repetitive after too many plays.

Save the Sheep by Laien Pathfinder 2018-12-18T03:49:28Z

Neat game, wish the sacrificing aspect was more central to the game rather than something you did as a last resort. Awesome graphics and audio, really evocative of the mood you wanted.

An Fhicheall Mhór (Grand Chess) by Artur Hawkwing 2018-12-06T09:35:47Z

Love the concept. Having the pieces move more slowly would have been good; turn based might have been one idea to try. Being able to start again without having to exit and run the game again would have been nice. Overall, a cool, interesting game.

You Infidels! by Giustitia 2018-12-14T00:15:04Z

Looks neat and sounds good. I wasn't sure what the NPCs were doing, besides maybe getting in the way of the player to make it more difficult to feed skulls to the altars? Also, I wasn't quite sure what the lose condition was, whether it was colliding with an NPC or waiting too long to put a skull in an altar. Some visual feedback on that would have been appreciated.

Hostile Takeover by Heather Flowers 2018-12-20T01:23:36Z

On one hand, I would have appreciated more visibility. On the other, being hardly able to see really played to the game's atmosphere and flavour, and it got a little easier to see as time went on. Interesting mechanic. Navigation was a bit of an issue, but at the same time that played to the theme.

Slime Venture by MRUniverse 2018-12-07T01:06:54Z

Interesting mechanic. The controls and the visuals could have been a bit more refined, and maybe some background music might have been nice.

Bloodless by Wojciech Bruski 2018-12-07T02:44:10Z

Took a bit to figure out how to deal with the witches. Their attacks could probably have been a bit slower or done less damage to make that easier, at least the first few anyway. Also, a way to regain blood might have been a good idea. Intro was cool, though personally I could have done without that. Overall, a reasonable game.

Cat-Astrophe by LaneDavis 2018-12-14T01:11:56Z

This is an awesome game. Great take on the theme, its a cool, challenging 2D platformer, the visuals are great, the music and sound effects are awesome. This could be one of the top games made for this game jam.

Together We Clear by Kciwsolb 2018-12-18T03:40:48Z

Cool spin on both snake and the theme. Maybe making the movement a smidge slower might be a good idea. That or more levels to ease the player in, but given the time constraints the lack of that is understandable. Could have done with background music, but can't fault the audio and visuals that were present.

Horde of the Demon Lord by PaperbackGorilla 2018-12-20T00:46:29Z

Neat game, wish the theme was a bit more directly tied to the mechanics. Looked and sounded good and played well though.

Sacrifice LUL by jdelaay025johnd1788 2018-12-10T03:54:41Z

Was a bit confused on the controls at first and how to put stuff down and whatnot. Looks nice and clean, nice sound effects.

Goatrifice by Arbosis 2018-12-05T08:33:53Z

Awesome concept, lovely visuals, cool gameplay. Does get a bit repetitive after a while, but given the constraints, I can't really fault it for that. That said, being a goat headbutting people for a while would be a fun way to vent. Favourite Ludum Dare 43 game I've played so far.

Threadpoint by mike_inPrinciple 2018-12-10T03:39:23Z

Looks and sounds awesome. However, the rocket too quickly got to be moving too fast for the player to be able to make any meaningful movement to avoid humans, collect parts, or rotate out of the way of obstacles at threadpoints. This was only exacerbated by the track twisting relatively sharply along both the vertical and horizontal axes.

Sacrafices_LD43 by LukeL 2018-12-14T00:36:32Z

The idea is a cool one and the meshes for the player and NPCs are pretty cool. The music was good too. The controls felt like they could have been a bit smoother, and it could have been made a lot clearer where the altar was, as it wasn't immediately obvious that there was a door to the player's left and not just the one ahead. The camera positioning could have done with some work too, as could the positioning of the unconscious cultist when the player was dragging them.

People are money by Caveman54 2018-12-05T01:05:24Z

The in-game instructions could have been a bit more thorough and explanatory about how to actually play the game. Once it got going, however, it was ok.

Monarch`s Bully by kirroyal 2018-12-16T04:49:25Z

Cool idea, but I think the initial difficulty is a bit much. You might want to consider a difficulty that scales up to its full difficulty, making it easier to draw players in and keep them playing. Also, having the NPCs move slower, as was mentioned by someone else, would have been better for converting NPCs of different opinions. It's a good start, but could do with some refinement.

Happy Fun Death Cult by Darn 2018-12-16T04:33:33Z

Interesting game, i like it's take on managing resources. I think there might have been some bugs in the build I downloaded, as a few times, particularly towards the end, I would select minions and double click somewhere to move them, but they would just de-select. On the theme though, I think it could have been made a more central part of the game rather than as an option that the player might never use. Overall, a solid prototype.

Jim's Limb's by JoblessOrc 2018-12-10T03:19:55Z

Cool idea, but the execution was buggy and the difficulty was a bit high. The graphics were cool and the audio worked well though.

Apothecary by huf0001 2018-12-06T00:21:15Z

@sol-roo not sure which decision you're referring to, so I'll just try and cover all the interactions.

Books: click on them to open them, click a page to turn the page, and click outside the book to close it.

Patient files: click on one to open it, click herbs to prescribe them (you can add as many of each as you like), and click the file again to close it.

Click finished when you're done prescribing herbs and see how you did. Then you can close that book and have another go with herb uses you discovered updated in the herb book.

Re-uploaded the zip file with the appropriate folder's name changed.

Making you find out through trial and error was what we were going for.

Apothecary by huf0001 2018-12-12T03:37:50Z

@mordokay The herbs were all ones @penthrower1 found in her research, and where we could we used their actual effects and appropriate dosages. Some herbs didn't have quite as much information as we'd have liked, so those parts are guesses and not entirely factual unfortunately.

Baby Grenade by publicidadeba 2018-12-07T00:46:37Z

Minecraft-esque graphics are cool, the concept is hilarious, the dialogue is nice. Would have made the difficulty gradient not quite as steep, at least not to begin with. Otherwise, an awesome game.

A Man and a Dog by YYZ 2018-12-14T00:28:33Z

This was a cute game. It was fun poking around and seeing what narrative choices would result in what, and what the game could push me to do. The look and sound of the game were very nice too.
