LD39 — Running out of Power

Computer Crisis by PixelFormedStudios 2017-08-06T20:10:38Z

HECK what a good'n. I absolutely love the pacing of this game from start to finish. I also have a soft spot in my heart for Wario Ware-likes so you've got me there.

My only complaint would be that at such a low resolution, it was hard to read text/tell what keys I should be pressing at times.

Great work!

B:/ Connected by AidanMarkham 2017-08-03T14:22:13Z

Awesome mood and atmosphere! I love how you used the the terminal interface to interact with the game, transition between levels, and deliver the story, all very efficiently and seamlessly. Great work!

Light Conversation by s1lv3r Dr4g0n Games 2017-08-06T19:53:31Z

Nice game, I really loved the dialogue! I agree with @eliana on lack of narrative payoff for "the thing" ending. I'd also be nice to have an on-screen countdown for the power minigame. 60s is a long time when you can't see it passing!

Dodge The Box. by Xeinix 2017-08-06T20:04:26Z

Nice splash sequence!! I really like the core of the game. Sometimes batteries were in impossible locations, which was a bit annoying, but not a huge deal, as there were more than enough to keep me well juiced. The biggest thing this entry lacks is visual feedback. It'd be great to have a nice smooth tween when the player moves between columns, as well as some particles when batteries are collected.

Great work overall! Congrats on your first jam! :)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Rogues Like Beer by NickZangus 2018-12-08T19:11:02Z

Great work! Saw this around on Instagram during the jam, love how it all came together! Sacrifices must always be made in the name of beer!

Otto by nratcliff 2018-12-05T01:10:07Z

@wyattis it is based on center of mass, though you should be able to tilt up without a tail fin. Were you pressing D or the down arrow to lean back (and tilt up)?

Otto by nratcliff 2018-12-09T21:21:38Z

@kerdelos ah heck, I think I forgot to mention in the build instructions: You'll need to hold Mouse 3 to rotate the camera. Hopefully that helps! If you still can't move it, let me know

Well-Hidden Genie by AidanMarkham 2018-12-04T23:32:38Z

Aaaaa love this! The visual style, humor, and gameplay all work together so well. Sad I couldn't go in the house though :frowning2:

Super Sellout by Moski 2018-12-08T19:01:20Z

Polish and humor are awesome on this one! However, I feel like the gameplay is a bit rough. Input is ignored during animations from prior actions, which just makes things feel sluggish and loose. Jumping between buildings feels clunky as well. Great work visually, thematically, and audio wise though! It really looks/sounds great!

Claude Van Clamme Presents: Lambs to the Slaughter Temple of Gods Edition by soldierbear 2018-12-05T12:35:54Z

Great concept, nice table-top style game! It was really difficult to interact with things, though. I ended up making an absolute mess of the table nearly every day. I do like how you handled things falling off of the table. I was afraid I had to restart the first time I dropped something, and was pleasantly surprised! As an aside, you may want to consider changing your canvas scaling mode. I full screened the web player, and all the UI got very small. Volcano Royale XTREME by Morg 2018-12-05T12:59:40Z

Nice work! Controls are nice and tight for the gameplay, although I wish the dash didn't feel so teleport-ey, and I didn't really see any point in jumping. I really loved all the VO. The enemies yelling as they fell off was great, and the Quake like narrator was great. Nice power-ups too!

Hard Decision by Zariel 2018-12-05T01:05:49Z

Nice work! Fun puzzle-platformer. It'd be helpful if the powerups communicated their effect visually, maybe with some kind of icon.

OVERCHARGE by Jonas Tyroller 2018-12-05T00:14:16Z

GREAT work!! Super innovative mechanic, very fun to play, and really simple to figure out! It's kind of like Pachinko meets a tower defense. Very difficult, but also very rewarding when you figure out the "solution" for a level. I bet this would port well to mobile, too...

LD49 — Unstable

Cosmic Time-Out by nratcliff 2021-10-08T21:02:51Z

@holbinski I don't think I did a great job of communicating how it works. Press and hold space while holding a block with left mouse to move vertically.

Monsters by Pio 2021-10-14T21:43:16Z

Great visuals and general mood but I didn't really feel like there was much of a game to play unfortunately. I just walked forward until I went into the hole. The monster was interesting but I didn't feel afraid or like I had to run away from it.

P.S. I had to do a little bit of hacking to get it to run on macOS Big Sur. If anyone else gets the app "is damaged and can't be opened" message, the 4th solution in [this article](https://osxdaily.com/2019/02/13/fix-app-damaged-cant-be-opened-trash-error-mac/) helped me out.

BALANCE BLOCK BATTLE by squigglez 2021-10-08T19:52:17Z

Looks great! Would love a macOS build :^)

CalmR - Rock Skipping Mindfulness by Eli Delventhal 2021-10-08T21:01:07Z

Controls were pretty tough on PC but the writing was excellent! It reminds me a lot of William Pugh's stuff.

Uns-Table by EvoGenGames 2021-10-16T13:21:16Z

Interesting idea, although it felt a bit unintuitive. I managed to find the center of the table, though. I still have the game running, right now I'm at about 3000 points. :imp: ezgif-7-03041c52da62.gif

Atomic Decay by Zahab_AQ 2021-10-14T17:45:38Z

Great execution, and well scoped for a jam game! I really felt stressed by the timer and enjoyed trying to run around and avoid stuff I didn't want while making the color I needed. I wish a little bit that I could have dropped what I'm holding in the case that I accidentally picked something up, or maybe some kind of ability that lets me dash/warp in the direction I'm heading so I can get to where I'm going a little bit faster. Right now, it feels a little bit like it's out of my control when I have to run something to the trash and don't have enough time to keep going. Great work overall!

Shoved Serenity by Solah 2021-10-14T17:57:35Z

Lots of genuine laughs from this one. I really love all the care and attention to detail in the polish. From the action camera when a bird hits you to the bandages on the monk, this is really something great. Excellent work!

Tetformer by PickyDogFish 2021-10-13T21:18:58Z

Really innovative idea, I'd love to see some more iterations on this concept. However, the character controller really hurts the experience. It feels both too loose and too slow.

A Hoppy Walk by Juutis 2021-10-13T21:26:18Z

Really innovative mechanic and use of the theme, love it! I felt like it was a little bit hard to predict where I would be going around turns but I suppose that's part of the fun of the game. I also loved that the song is long enough to really feel like it's rewarding you for playing longer. Nice work overall!

Plains In The Sky by TevasLiutauras 2021-10-13T20:51:24Z

Incredibly innovative mechanic and great visuals. Great work all around :)

Nuclear Danger by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2021-10-14T17:46:19Z

This looks super fun! Any chance of a mac build?

Nuclear Danger by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2021-10-14T21:25:28Z

@fluffy-kaeloky Works like a charm! Nice work

Steady Grounds by jsloth 2021-10-14T21:31:12Z

Really innovative use of the theme! I don't think I've ever seen a platformer like this before. I especially loved the chaos the key creates while it follows you. The player controller is a bit sluggish and loose which was a bit of a drag but otherwise great work!

Faultline Farm 🐷 by Dazzumbledor 2021-10-13T21:05:40Z

Would love a macOS build if you can make one! :^)

BUMBLING BUILDERS by Oroshibu 2021-10-09T14:30:25Z

Super duper fun and awesome polish for a jam game! It feels a lot like a classic Nitrome game. The variance in enemies is great. The character design is also excellent. The camera felt like it drifted a bit and I had to fight it, and the lack of contrast on the main menu buttons/text made my eyes a little uncomfortable but these are really tiny gripes. Overall just a great job!

unSTABLER by C0nt 2021-10-13T21:14:54Z

Looks right up my alley. Any chance I could get a macOS build? :^)

Beam by Joeriri 2021-10-08T20:38:08Z

Would love a chance to play on mac if you can make a build :^)

Beam by Joeriri 2021-10-11T15:49:42Z

@joeriri You should be able to make a macOS build from Unity on Windows. You may need to install a build module from Unity Hub for it though. Details: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/BuildSettingsStandalone.html

Beam by Joeriri 2021-10-13T21:03:13Z

Great puzzle game, interesting use of the theme, and nice minimal visuals! Thanks for taking the time to get a mac build! I had to change the app permissions to get it to run but after that it worked flawlessly.

U-49 Meltdown by Blue Pin Studio 2021-10-08T19:42:09Z

Nice one! You really make a lot out of a little with the gameplay! The audio logs really strengthen the replayability, which made going back through the level over and over fun instead of frustrating.

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-14T18:05:28Z

macOS build worked fine! I did have to change the permissions for the app before I could run it, but that's standard for builds made on Windows, I think. I found the camera was a bit jittery which made the experience a bit more rough than it could have been, but I did have fun trying to appease your little sugar demon. I had a pretty frantic moment when he started breaking all the lamps.

Stick-Stack-Stuck by robbietaco 2021-10-08T20:33:11Z

Very fun tower building game! I really love how wacky and weird the whole thing is. The mouth was an amazing addition. I did feel like the mouse wheel was too slow and unresponsive for most things though. Great job overall!

Moonpond by balduin 2021-10-08T20:02:29Z

Looks interesting! Would love a macOS build :^)

BlockBuster by GamerMomentum 2021-10-14T21:45:54Z

Hey everyone! I got the game to run on macOS by opening the terminal and running the following: `sudo chmod -R 755 "path/to/BlockBuster v1.0.app"`. That solved the permission error. Afterwards, right click and click "Open" to bypass the malicious software warning on Big Sur.

HexFall by GAME_RS 2021-10-16T13:44:08Z

Simple but really well executed! The player controller felt nice and responsive, which is really important for this kind of gameplay. The puzzling was just enough to feel challenging without being too hard, and the mechanics generally felt fair (although I could have used with some coyote frames for the jumping, I had a couple late jumps that doomed me). Well done overall!
