This was fantastic! Art was great, the gameplay was fun and full of pressure (although the piece movement speed was a bit too fast). The tutorial was well made and explained very well what was happening. Overall, great game!
Very spectacular visuals, although it gets confusing later in the game. Couldn't quite discern the theme, maybe a bit of clarification would be nice. Overall very good
Card game sorcery! I think my score was 47 if I understood the rules.
That was neat! I tried it on gamepad and mouse, the gamepad controls much better. I've tried flying controls for jams, and it's not easy to make it feel good. There's a lot of moving parts that need to work, and you got pretty far. The major issue is that it's hard to tell what way is up.
That was amazing. Great art too. It takes a bit to wrap your head around but when it clicks it clicks well.
@metadept @mahalis The screen with the heart on it is the end of the level, I ran out of time heh. Ditto for running out of lives closing the program, couldn't come up with something more creative.
@bastienre4 Yep, I didn't notice before I had to kick this out the door. Was a one number change too, my bad.
@john-gabriel It was going to be about a house that was (pick your pop culture reference here) bigger on the inside and you explored into the basement etc. There was going to be a mechanic about being closer to the top of the play field (ie deeper) rather than the bottom. I overscoped and also had to relearn everything after a hiatus.
That was pretty cool! I think the bottom of the text on the tutorial page got cut off a bit. It's a cool set of mechanics, it just took me rereading the tutorial a couple times.
Pretty neat, agree with mostly everybody that it's a bit random. Nice seeing it in html5 though
Also I should be your 20th rating, so congratulations!
Fun entry! It sets out to do something and does it really well.
Also respect for using monogame.
That was really neat. It's cool that it was done in c++ with some libraries instead of an engine. The idea is neat and takes a minute to wrap your head around it.
Ah unity default skybox never change. All the effects are very nice looing, will second the want to have enemy health be shown. There was one situation where I spawned into a level surrounded by two walls and the edge, so I couldn't progress. Overall good job!
That was pretty cool. Also it was fairly feature complete, which was further than I got. The sound is a bit loud and clips a bit, but that's the only technical complaint I have.
Took a bit to understand but it's pretty neat. A suggestion would be to add a colorblind mode? Make every color have a matching symbol? Not required, but a nice touch.
Definitely see how this could be speedrun. Near flawless, it just takes some time to understand the controls. Since you can't control your momentum midair, it feels wrong but once it clicks there's no issue.
A bit hard to see where you are going and where you just were being zoomed out so far, but a fun idea. Neat having it be pure c++, I should learn how to do that.
Also I'm your 20th rating, congrats!
Very dependent on your ability to improvise, which I don't have but is pretty cool. Reminds me of a jackbox game. Also it took me a moment to get the theme. Clever.
All the pixel art is great! It's a shame you couldn't get more done but what you do have is pretty polished. Also I do believe I'm your 20th rating so congratulations!
For a second jam that's far from bad. One thing I noticed was that the coins had collision, so you touched them and they stop the player. You can make those a trigger (in the collider component) and use OnTriggerEnter instead.
Very neat mechanic! Reminds me a bit of Super Paper Mario. Sound is a bit buggy, but so was my sound so... It's a little bit hard to gauge jumps sometimes but that's all. I like the detail of the clouds in the background
Not bad! I don't have much to add that wasn't said, the water effect is neat but hard to read. The lighting effect very much limiting what you can see is a neat mechanic.
I am your 20th rating, congratulations!
Neat. Liked that post processing effect. Having a fixed jump height instead of variable (holding down jump makes you go up longer) is a bit rough, but manageable. The sound was super blown out and loud for me. Overall, pretty cool.
Welcome to gamedev! The spritework is pretty good. Maybe a sound effect or visual indicator would help to know where enemies are coming from but other than that not bad.
The mix of 2d/3d was great! Even at where it was it turned out very well presented.
Agree mostly with everybody else here. Good art, wish that attacks were a bit faster since you can't move after you attack
Welcome to game making. That was a pretty neat idea trying to juggle two characters at the same time. Funny enough it wasn't until way further in me learning unity that I figured out UI so that's neat.
Pico devs scare me, neat base for a thing. Good luck with that
Not sure if deliberately causing performance issues is the safest idea, but it made me laugh, sooo.
Captcha warioware. Love it. Also it's always fun seeing funky creation methods.
Also I believe I'm your 20th, congratulations!
@ratstail91 Occasionally there will be a box you can collect. Deliver that to one of the hooded people to gain more flight time.
@cassowary Thanks for the feedback! The scale thing was my bad, I forgot to set the size on the itch embed.
@cogcomp @tan-games Yeah that's a known bug. There's a counter for how many enemies on screen and when that reaches 0 it spawns a new wave. Problem is the real enemy count and that value get desynced somewhere and I couldn't find where in time. Thanks for the feedback!
This pixel art is immaculate. I do think some kind of game over screen with how long you lasted would be nice, but in any case wonderful job team.
That was extremely complete and well polished. Fantastic work.
Going to state what most have said already, wish there was a bit more mechanical depth. I found myself flying to one side of the screen and waiting, then going to the other, rinse repeat. Other than that, good job!
I think I found a bug where the game doesn't recognize you as clearing the tree in a box, but it was very good overall, liked the art.
Wow this game looks fantastic! Had a great feel, though a couple times enemies spawned right on top of me. Also the global leaderboard is a really neat feature.
Also I believe I'm your 20th, congratulations!
Love seeing interesting engines. Good job!
Love me some drawing mechanics. Stellar work.
Great art and music. Love me some pico 8
That was pretty cool! I think the player firing sounds were a bit loud but other than that the art is great and the game is well polished. Love the juice.
Extremely well polished, fantastic job and good use of the theme. I noticed the enemies got stuck on walls occasionally, but that's not worth deducting points, implementing proper pathing takes time.
That was pretty phenomenal. Super polished and great art. I would be terrified of doing a dialog system, even a simple one, in a jam so bravo.
Concise but not lacking in depth. You had a reasonable scope and did it well. Fantastic job.
Found all the secrets. I did see some weird shadow cast lighting bugs.
Tetris is already the perfect game, you just made it better.
Glitch.PNG
In the html version, this happened and the game froze. Not sure why.
Reverse breakout, the blocks try and break you! Anyways, fun little thing, cleanly executed.
Love these fun sorts of webtoys, great job!
Mostly repeating what others have said, but also I love all the animations. Stellar pixel art.
Seconding what folks have already said, moving felt good but the precision jumping got a bit frustrating. Very good job though.
Pretty fantastic job for a first game. It functions, which was better than my first attempt. Love the particle effects, took a second to realize the player shot was affected by gravity but we got there.
Cleanly done, reminds me a bit of a Warioware microgame. Has that good addictive quality.
For a first jam it's not bad at all! Don't forget to play and rate other people's games.
