I really think there is something great to do with that depth idea ! I found it really interesting. The last level drove me crazy until I found the "trick" to take a shortcut. I think the front/back movement can be improved as well because on the first levels it feels kind of slow because the platforms are so big.

I did have the drive to try and finish it, find shortcut, etc, so you're doing something right for sure :) The art could get some improvements as well !

The game mechanic is a very interesting take on the theme! It is definitely interesting to see the character to go from flat to tridimensional. I felt like the gameplay can use some tweaking, as it was easy to get stuck in some platforms and the tridimensional movement was a little wonky, but other than that it was definitely original!

I liked the overall style and depth mechanics, but some spikes and platforms require a bit too much precision

Fascinating game, i definitely enjoyed going through it. There's something about it that made me wish it were longer, which means it's fun!

This game was frustrating in the best way possible it required a lot of precession and timing to get right. Some parts felt a little wonky and were super hard but I really enjoyed playing it.

I really like that idea with changing environment from 2D to 3D. The last lvl was something.

Interesting mechanic and nice variety of levels, congrats on the submission!

Nice mechanic, and nice auido. The last level is the most challenging.

Weee! Really neat implementation of the theme, I had fun from start to finish! The music fit well and the character was cute and simple. Good job!

I liked the switch between the 2D start and 3D finish. I finished all the levels.

One thing that could be improved though was the stage between 2D and 3D. After picking up the first coin, nothing changes besides the visuals. Most levels also had the two coins close or next to each other.

Very good entry.

This is a very neat idea! I feel like the game need a bit of work. Finding 2 coins seems a bit superfluous and doesn't mesh with the flow of the game. But overall it's very enjoyable and a cool fez-like spin on the theme!

Interesting mechanics. Id spend a bit more time on the controls to make it feel a bit better but overall good job with interesting puzzles

Very neat mechanic! Reminds me a bit of Super Paper Mario. Sound is a bit buggy, but so was my sound so... It's a little bit hard to gauge jumps sometimes but that's all. I like the detail of the clouds in the background

vixenmink 2021-05-06 01:18

Couldn't get this to run on my end but really like what you are doing here

shnigle-shnagle 2021-05-06 04:08

@vixenmink yeah, I've had problems opening a lot of games too. It said the program is not responding am I right?

vixenmink 2021-05-06 04:13

@shnigle-shnagle Correct. I keep chalking it up to needing to update my rig

thegreenworm 2021-05-06 09:49

The last level is super hard ! Watching you're walk through, I see that even the dev had problems completing it ^^

The plain green floor makes it quite hard to judge depth when you're in top view. The music is quite strident and repetitive, and the jump audio is longer than the jump (so that felt quite weird).

Cool idea nonetheless, and I liked the character animation, even if it's quite basic, it adds a little polish.

shnigle-shnagle 2021-05-06 12:18

@thegreenworm yeah, this was my first 48 hour jam, so i didnt do good time management. i never made music for games or in general in my life, and dont know blender. i know its a little wonky, but hopefully you still somewhat enjoyed it.

thegreenworm 2021-05-06 12:20

@shnigle-shnagle Yeah sure, everybody started at some point :) I'm glad you managed to publish something ! My criticism is more to give you some ideas of what to improve later on than to discourage you !

ava-skoog 2021-05-14 12:35

Cool mechanic! Only wish there were more levels to explore it but I know how tough it is to find time for content in a jam 😅 Music was cute with the mewing, and you can't really go wrong with a blobby character. The top down perspective could've done with some more clarity; it was good that you found a way to make the character visible through geometry, so would've been great if the goal and any obstacles had that too, but since the levels are so small it's not hard to remember where to go so it's not much of a problem, just a matter of polish. You could definitely play more with this concept post-jam! c:

bliny-lynx 2021-05-18 19:15

It might be janky, but I actually had fun throughout!
