It really is a beautiful game for such a short dev time ! I found it a bit hard to understand which exact part of the stroke I was supposed to press space on, it felt like it was easier on the way down than on the way up as well.
In any case, the sounds and graphics are really top notch ! Great job!
Top job and unique concept !! Loved it until I got stuck at the level with the color pools on the floor and couldn't figure out what to do, my brain is too tired ahah
One of the best game I played. Maybe a hint feature would have been cool for stupidos like me but of course there is only so much you can do in 48 hours ahah, it's already a tremendous effort!
Wow !! I absolutely loved it honestly. At the point where I was thinking "ok it needs new enemies or else it gets a bit boring" it delivered straight away with new types of enemies at every room !
The variety of the power ups is also very cool and pretty well balanced. It's the best game I've tried up to here by far.
Where can I find the Source code ? I'm actually curious how a game like this is made !
You should really shout your game out a bit because it clearly deserves to be played !!
I learned a bit about PICO-8 in the meantime so I understood that my question was stupid ahah, thanks for the link I'll give it a look, PICO-8 looks super fun, I might give it a try !
I loved the art style !! I'm super impressed on how "finished" the game looks, as well as the variety of sounds, the atmosphere etc.
The only thing I would have added is maybe a tooltip on buildings or something to make it clearer what they do ? Because it is sometimes hard to guess.
Also, directional arrows don't seem to work for me so I cannot pan the camera around. WASD doesn't work either.
In any case, superb job !!
@frankiemileshow, yes it was on the HTML5 Version ! I'll try the Desktop version when I'm back on Windows, cheers !
Very nice concept ! As said above you could really transform this into a full fledged game with tons of upgrades ! I'd make the fishing gameplay bit more dynamic somehow though.
The graphics are amazing too !! Congrats
It feels like I couldn't move fast enough to get the bubbles ? And you stop descending when you move which is a bit weird as well. And as mentioned above, I think the tunnel should have collisions !
Great job on making this in such a short time, the breathing sound made me giggle ahah !
The game has a very mystical and eerie atmosphere thanks to the sounds and I really love it, it really connected with me for some reason ! The sound of the small blue blocks going up the "tunnel" really transported me (I know, it's very weird). I don't know why ahah.
Anyways, I'm very impressed on what you achieved, some of you guys really are on a completely other level.. Maybe understanding how to combine block is a bit hard to grasp but it might play with the experience as well and get you more immersed, no unecessary noise. It makes it quite contemplative honestly, great job ! I'd give you a 10 for mood if I could !
Great game man, got to the end #deepest ! First of all it made me way smarter and less superficial so thanks for that. Second of all, it was just really fun. I loved planning out my every moves and I really wanted to get all the damn scrolls ! Great job on making the game harder the more you dig, it really makes it intersting in the long run.
What I would do :
- Create chunks a bit sooner because when you're maxed out on the Field of view thingie, you can see blue parts left and right where chunks were not created yet - Make dynamite also kill nearby enemies or something ? Sometimes I just wanted to get rid of those flipping among us buggers - I never understood what the stones were for
Nevertheless, it's a great game man, kept me hooked until the end, great job !
That's an amazing game compared to the time you had, it clearly shows that you have some experience in the field, I'm so admirative !
As said above, it just lacks a little something to do when you just have to wait, especially since the game stops when I alt-tab out ahah (on Linux, Linux build works btw!).
Other than that, I can only dream of the day I'll be as skilled as you. Keep up the great work !
Really great visual style ! As said above, my main problems where with figuring out the difference between background and foreground in order to navigate. I think have a "health bar" system would be a bit better since those tunnels are pretty narrow and it can take a while to go back where you were before.
But it is nevertheless a very nice game, the sounds were on point as well and the atomsphere really fits ! Great job !
Really cool ! I wasn't sure at first if I could hit the mobs because you seem so fare away and there is no real feedback when you hit. The art and mood were definitely on point there. As said above more levels would have been nice as well. But all things considered it really is a great job in such a short amount of time ! Congrats
Simple and fun ! I liked it, it gets hard really quick which is good ahah, makes you want to get further. I really liked the music as well, great job !
OH ZE AMAZING COLOZZ is exactly what I said when I started this game. The art is top notch, the sounds are really good and the music really fits the theme ! Nice voice acting as well ahaha it made it that much more fun. Maybe a minimap would have helped though so that you can explore a bit more step by step without getting lost too much.
Superb job man ! It really is a fun game
Top game really !! At first I doubted if it was actually a LD48 game and thought I misclicked or something. Only thing I'd change is the speed of the character and the fact you have to "mash" the keys to actually go forward, and since there is a lot of moves to make it feels a bit slow sometimes.
Also I managed to get out of bounds of the first moving platform in Level 4 (I believe? Maybe 3) so I stayed tiny and could just go to the end that way ahah. It's actually a great feature of the game because it made me feel smart.

Cheers !
Cool game ! As said above it's really well thought out that you need to pay attention how you approach the level and in which order. There is a infinite pool of new mechanics you could add as well which is perfect ! Top job
Really cool to have created such a contemplative experience ! It was really well made and the story was well thought out and immersive. Top job guys !
Unforgiving but makes you want to play it again and get better ! As said above I think it would have been nice to gradually increase the difficulty as you go down, but of course it's probably hard to manage while avoiding creating "dead ends".
Overall it's great ! Simple and fun, exactly what we're looking for !
@sweer oh ok! I think I was not good enough to really notice ahah, well done then, you got everything covered :)
Super fun game ahah missing the frying thingie at the end is so frustrating !! Makes you want to try again and again, well done. Just needs a restart button because otherwise you just sit there watching your pancake drop down slowly if you botch a run.
Super good quality for the time you had ! Good job :)
I did ! 1 inch away from the podium though, but that's okay, I'm happy with fourth ahah
Very fun, I'd have loved it to be a bit longer to really get to feel the power of the upgrades piling up ! Really innovative combat system as well I really liked it
The art is great and the sound/atmosphere as well ! Had a bit of trouble getting the werewolves off me and I wasn't certain if I really had to backtrack to the wizard or not at first because it seemed like a long hike.
I feel like it lacks a sense of progression, I just felt like it was always the same but never really felt like I was going forward except for the negativity cards that kept coming and made me move windows around all the time. At some point the game bugged (I think?) and I was not getting any new window anymore. Good effort though, up until that point it worked quite well even though a lot of things could have gone wrong with all the window superposition etc ! Great job overall in any case, I did spend around 15 minutes playing it ahah

Maybe I just got fired ??? ahaha

Good work ! Once I reached the bottom i was not too sure on how to get back up though ? Because the signs tells me I need a drill but how do I get one ?
Good idea to have added the various sounds it makes it more playful !
Did you use a game engine to create the game ?
I really think there is something great to do with that depth idea ! I found it really interesting. The last level drove me crazy until I found the "trick" to take a shortcut. I think the front/back movement can be improved as well because on the first levels it feels kind of slow because the platforms are so big.
I did have the drive to try and finish it, find shortcut, etc, so you're doing something right for sure :) The art could get some improvements as well !
Hey! I think your Itch.io page might not be set to public ? I can't access your game via the link you posted :(
Cool game ! Music is quite spooky ahah it does make you feel the stress of the atmosphere, are the effects random or is there a "win route" ?
Top score 68 ! Great little game. Yes indeed the instructions don't mention the double jump which took me a while to figure out, I was always getting stuck somewhere. Also I couldn't jump with the jump arrow I had to use W. I think it might be good to have some sort of button to restart the game as well when you finish because at the beginning I was not realizing that they were different rounds. Maybe the contrast between platforms and background could be a bit more visible even though I know it's kind of the point of the colors in the back.
Really cool game ! I hope it starts an habit of making games more often so that you'll keep getting better
Good interpretation of the theme, quite refreshing ;) Nice job all around, the graphics are good and the sounds are nice as well altough maybe a bit too acute some times.
I did have quite a bit of trouble trying to make roots when I wanted to and stoping growth as well. I think it just lacks some feedback on player input !
Nevertheless, great job on building that in such a short time frame !! I couldn't have done it honestly.
The visual polish is crazy !!! Great job really it's beautiful. I think the game would have benefited from having one or two other types of obstacle to make it a bit harder because it was overall a bit too easy I think. In any case, I'm really amazed on what you achieved in only 48 hours, I'll check your devlog and try to learn a thing or two !
Very good game ! The graphics are very cool, sounds fit pretty well and the mechanics are great ! The only thing I'd ask for is to make the difficulty and speed grow a bit faster, it feels like it takes a long time before reaching a challenging speed. That really is the only thing I could say, the game is very polished, you rocked it !
Fun game ! As said above it's a bit annoying that you need to mash the click to mine, but other than that it was pretty cool, good basis to improve and iterate on :)
Great job on making a web page game it's really clever ! Reminds me of those late evenings reading about stuff I will never use again in my life ahah.
I'm not really sure what I just experienced but I loved it ! Made my brain go "wot" in all sorts of way. There were multiple time where I was thinking "is this normal??" ahah, great job !!
Yeah, I was worried it would be a bit too easy and straightforward so I spiced it up, probably a bit too much. The plants throwing the projectiles are a bit too strong, I'll make sure to have a more progressive difficulty curve next time ! I didn't have enough time to do proper level design so I had to speed a bit through it.
And when I see other games that are WAY more beautiful and polished but just simpler, I think I'll go for that next time ! Great core mechanics and correct art is better than trying to do a bit of everything and not being good in much ahah.
In any case I did learn a TON of things doing this Jam, and by looking at other games it made me want to work a bit in learning the basics of Pixel Art in order to be able to create some more coherent visuals.
Thanks everyone who tested the game up so far ! I hope I'll get to 20 reviews, it would be pretty cool for a first time :)
Thanks a lot for your feedbacks guys, I'll make sure to keep throwing goofy death animations in my game !
@rhoff95 Yeah I wanted to include the theme a bit more in the overall atmosphere but turns out I vastly overevaluated my art skills and the time it would all take ahah. Huge thanks for your detailed feedback.
@mkmuffi thanks a lot for the feedback ! I agree that the controls are not polished enough and the animations don't go well enough together, I'll make sure to work on those core mechanics more next time. I had initial trouble making the player move and jump like I wanted so it took a while and I didn't want to spend a whole day on it. Next time I'll reduce my scope and make it more polished. Regarding the orientation of the player, it's meant to work well with the point where you get the Rifle so that you always aim at the mouse but I agree that it's off putting. Thanks for playing !!
