I, uh, I honnestly didn't understand the story. I mean, I finished the game, but, I couldn't really grab what you were trying to say. (Will not go into further details to avoid spoiling the game) If you have to improve one or two thing, I think you should probably make the background moving to add some depth during the ocean part, it will help to understand that you are going deeper, beside the number on the screen. You can also add some sound effect, like when you pick seefood or when you use a desk. But I loved the subtle touch of humour and the music. And I fucking loved the graphics. Like, I loved them. Either way, I really liked you game <3

5mixer 2021-04-26 09:51

Cool music, fancy starting scene, nice graphics. Gameplay was simple but alright. Nice work :)

fdk 2021-04-26 10:01

I'm not really sure what I just experienced but I loved it ! Made my brain go "wot" in all sorts of way. There were multiple time where I was thinking "is this normal??" ahah, great job !!

martynas 2021-04-26 11:52

Loved the graphics!

toasteater 2021-04-26 12:59

Wow that was a pretty wild ride. Each part of the gameplay is rather simple but I like how the narrative comes together. I agree that the ocean part could use some improvement: a background parallax would have the most immediate effect as Jeffez said, but some bubble particles would also have been nice. Beside that, the music is nice and the art is cute. Nice game!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-26 17:57

@jeffez Congratulations and thank you for finishing the game! I aware of the lack of visual and sound effects and its influence on game experience, only if I have more time! >_< As for the story, I wasn't trying to express anything through the story, just wanted to create a weird and wild experience! I'm glad to hear that you liked my tiny game!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-26 17:59

@5mixer Congratulations on beating the game! And thank you for playing it! Hope you enjoyed this weird journey, adventurer! :D

yulotomorrow 2021-04-26 18:01

@fdk Congratulations on beating A:D&D! I'm glad to know that you enjoyed your adventure, and thank you for playing my tiny game :D

yulotomorrow 2021-04-26 18:02

@martynas Congratulations and thank you for playing my game!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-26 18:07

@toasteater Congratulations on beating the game! Thank you for your feedback on visual effects, I actually went back to double check if the bubble effects I made went into the final game, turned out it wasn't quite obvious, but I agree that I haven't done enough on effects that it affected experience. Thank you for playing and I'm glad you liked it!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-26 18:12

To anyone wondering why I congratulate people for completing the game: I'm a fandom game dev and it's kind of a tradition in our fandom, it came from an Ultima reference because most of the Ultima games have it! I added "Report thy feat" ending screen in my games and I will congratulate anyone who completed my game if I see the notification :D

toasteater 2021-04-26 18:24

@yulotomorrow Whoops. I just checked it again and yes you're right. There is a bubble effect! I guess the static bubbles in the background just left a bigger impression on me. Sorry!

franrf 2021-04-27 13:10

i really liked the art, and even thougt i havent played other games from you, the fact that it has references to them is quite nice. also i liked the mini game if the coordinates

kristof 2021-04-27 16:57

Interesting experience. I made it to the end :) I liked the dodging game and figuring out the coordinate puzzle. The story bits felt a bit all over the place and dragged on for a bit too long for my taste. Overall a good entry!

rngames 2021-04-27 21:58

✔️ The art was very nicely made.

✔️ I liked the varying game mechanics - added variety. I especially liked the puzzle mechanic, it was simple but allowed for some thinking.

➖ I would have liked more sounds.

yulotomorrow 2021-04-27 23:32

@franrf Congratulations on beating Adventure: Depths & Dangers! I'm glad to know you liked your weird journey as an adventurer. Don't worry about the references, they're just some conventions of mine and hidden references of my favorite games :D Thank you for playing my game!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-27 23:34

@kristof Congratulations! I really appreciate your patience tolerating the rather lengthy and wild adventure! Maybe it was just my mind went too DEEP and I somehow lost it while making the game ;)

yulotomorrow 2021-04-27 23:37

@rngames Congratulations on beating the game! Glad you liked this adventure, and it was also a pity for me that I haven't got time to compose for the void scene and more sound effects, multi-scene games are hard! :p Thank you for playing!

phthalogold 2021-04-28 02:53

This was really cool - I was definitely more captivated by the coordinate puzzle system, and maybe this is because I felt like the seaweed part dragged on too long. Both were fun, don't get me wrong, but in a game with a bunch of minigames, I would play thes coordinates one way more. The audio was good and the art was cute! Well done!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 04:34

@phthalogold Congratulations on beating Adventure: Depths & Dangers! :D Glad to hear you enjoyed this adventure -- no matter which part, I'm glad that they really worked for players... uh, adventurers! Thank you for playing my tiny game!

rexgame 2021-04-28 09:17

I like the concept ^^

ifidamas 2021-04-28 09:28

Nice game, with a super nice and fun intro! I would have loved a moving background to understand better the depth, and a more dynamical re-start, but I know that is hard to refine everything in 72 hours! so, congrats!

predominant 2021-04-28 09:32

Interesting game, I couldn't understand the beds in space part, but I had a little fun in the water!

justuspan 2021-04-28 09:36

I LIKE the music very mush and played much time to try to get the end. But evetually I failed, what's the depth that could leed me to the end? And the art style is very cute.Good job!Followed you itch account!

vivien-fargette 2021-04-28 09:39

I finished the game, it was quite nice, I loved the graphics and enjoyed the mini games.

As said above, some movements to the background during the sea diving part would make it feel more like a diving part and a sound on the use of a desk would be helpful as I did not noticed it worked at first (spammed e a few times before finding out)

The musics could use better looping time as it sometimes stop quite abruptly but they are really beautiful!

Congrats on your first game jam!

sanemsky 2021-04-28 10:29

Great job for compo! I mean I don't know what just happened but I very much enjoyed the ride :D Dialoges were a nice touch, I enjoyed the humor. I couldn't understand the ocean part at first, I thought I was supposed to go down , then I realized there was a depth indicater, maybe it could be bigger or with more contrast? But adding little feedback before the fish was a good thought. I had a little trouble understanding the puzzle later on, but glad to figure out at the end. Made me feel like I'm smart :D

Having more than many depths was a great idea also. Cool game. Keep it up :D

oeschmid 2021-04-28 12:15

That was a lot of fun. Kept me surprised, and found ways to keep things interesting by changing the location and the gameplay. The adventurers and their dialogue were really cute!

jonathan-turner 2021-04-28 14:36

Thanks for participating in the jam!

I made it to the end, though the bed puzzle almost had me quit... not quite sure how I figured it out but I managed to get through.

I like the graphics, they were cute. But a bit of animation would have put it over the top.

The music was pleasant.

The gameplay itself was pretty basic, but you put it together in a nice experience so well done there.

Nice work!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 22:36

@rexgame Thank you for playing my game! If you finished it, congratulations too!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 22:39

@ifidamas Thank you for the feedback! I realized it during the development and they are indeed some of the most mentioned problems. I'm attending Compo so it was 48 hrs! Thank you for playing, and congratulations if you see the end!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 22:46

@predominant Thank you for playing! The void section was intended for adventurers to figure out by themselves, but lack of effects due to running out of time on this section did hurt experience.

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 22:48

@justuspan Thank you for playing the game! It's a multi-section adventure so there are still some other little things to do later :D

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 22:56

@vivien-fargette Congratulations on beating Adventure: Depths & Dangers! Thank you for the feedback, and about the bad looping, I even want to laugh at myself when I just randomly cut off the empty without calculation in a hurry... (well I haven't been making music for years to make this stupid oversight) Thank you for playing, and glad to hear you enjoyed your adventure!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 22:59

@sanemsky Congratulations on beating the game! Thank you for playing and giving your feedback, and I'm glad that you enjoyed the journey (especially to know that the void section worked as designed)!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 23:02

@oeschmid Congratulations! The adventure might be a bit weird but I'm happy to hear that you liked it, adventurer! Thank you for playing my tiny game :D

yulotomorrow 2021-04-28 23:05

@jonathan-turner Congratulations on beating the game! Thank you for your feedback, and I'm glad that you eventually solved the problems in the journey :D Thank you for playing my game!

turquoise-moon 2021-04-29 00:49

The art is amazing! I really liked the coordinate part, it was very interesting.

yulotomorrow 2021-04-29 01:54

@turquoise-moon Congratulations on beating the game! Glad to hear that you liked this adventure, and thank you for playing! :D

vaanrile 2021-04-29 11:18

Really good game ! Quite a lot of content for a compo game, with the different gameplay sections and the many different assets. I liked the different gameplay parts, the variety of the graphics and the narration, even if I'm still quite confused by the ending (maybe it is teasing a future project ?). Anyways, great production, I really enjoyed playing through it !

glaas 2021-04-29 12:14

Super neat ! Great job. I was quite confused in the dark area with the coordinates, but it turned out okay !

yulotomorrow 2021-04-29 22:59

@vaanrile Congratulations on beating the game! I'm glad to hear you like the adventure, and about the ending, it's just for fun and weirdness ;p Thank you for playing my tiny game!

yulotomorrow 2021-04-29 23:00

@glaas Congratulations on beating Adventure: Depths & Dangers, and especially that you figured out the puzzles in the journey! Thank you for playing!

armytag 2021-04-30 15:18

Great game! This has been a lesson to me in how to make a game that looks great while using basically no animated sprites (the swords scraping on the ground was a fantastic touch). It was great to mix a reflex game with a slower puzzle game, both simple but well executed. If I had one complaint, it would be that the ending with the scroll felt unrelated to the rest of the gameplay, with a 4th-wall-breaking "error" with no obvious connection to the plot. Just a minor thing though, overall well done!

msipp27 2021-04-30 15:25

bubble controls feel wrong, i'm not sure why but they do

yulotomorrow 2021-05-01 04:28

@armytag Congratulations on beating the game! Thank you for your feedback, when I’m making it I just lost my mind and just want to make the journey weird ;) Thank you for playing my game!

yulotomorrow 2021-05-01 04:29

@msipp27 Thank you for playing and feedback! The bubble control is designed as intended :)

mkmuffi 2021-05-13 19:24

The graphics are cute and the music is nice! Though I didn't fully understand the story. When I was in the bubble under the sea, I wasn't quite sure where to go, either. But nice job!

schwede 2021-05-17 19:39

Congratulation to your submission! I like your graphic style and storytelling. But I had the feeling the arcade mode and story telling didn’t fit together. But I assume that it’s better to stick with your skills than change them during the jam.
