LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Rover goes deeper by pfeyffer 2021-04-27T00:49:37Z

Nice Sokoban-style game. I love the design, but I worry that it might be too much for players to keep track of - they may end up brute-forcing the puzzles. An undo function might help alleviate this in an expanded game, but regardless I enjoyed it a lot.

Werm - an existential adventure by m11 2021-04-26T23:31:43Z

Very nice! Did the texts change after the screen filled up? I thought a few did but I kept playing and didnt notice any more changes. Either way, I had fun!

Deep Voice by mdotedot 2021-04-26T10:00:59Z

Creative idea! I had a bit of trouble figuring out how the pitches worked in terms of nuanced control, but as long as I kept a deep voice it worked well enough. I can see this being an issue for people who do not have deep voices - but the game fits very nicely with the theme and calibration is a feature that could be added in an expanded game. I also like the aesthetic and animations - solid game overall.

Earigator by alec 2021-04-27T04:29:20Z

It was a disgustingly fun game. It's gross but the whimsical premise is part of the experience. An engaging game loop with great audio and clear visuals. The loop to the start is a bit weird if you've already done it a second time, but who knows, maybe he just has a lot of ears.

Sheep Deeper by Kusaihana 2021-04-26T07:53:32Z

It took a while to get it, but it was still challenging. I think a tutorial or how to play screen would help. Overall interesting concept and cute art.

Square Diver by FussenKuh 2021-04-28T02:34:43Z

This was really nice - a polished and tightly designed experience. Everything was very nice :ok_hand: from the music to the sound effects to the particle effects. The ghost shadow of your past deaths was a really good touch too. I played this way more times than I expected to.

Colored Roots by PlusMinus 2021-04-26T08:24:10Z

This game was really cool. Great puzzle design and progression, with good ah-ha moments. I always wanted to keep playing. To answer the question of level progression, it is good to sometimes have an easier level in the mix as you need both highs, lows, and mids to create good engagement. Think of it like the player needs a break/rest sometimes - in a good combat game, there are areas where there are no enemies. Overall great work and great game.

The Botanist by Tezza48 2021-04-26T08:05:40Z

Cute little game. It took a minute to figure out the objective, and it was sometimes hard to get the monsters to the plants. Overall fun though.

Lava Runner by ShaggyFox 2021-04-27T06:29:28Z

The game was fun and neat but I felt like it was a bit too long. I would have preferred less crystals to collect - maybe 15? It was engaging and fun otherwise though, and nicely polished with good UX.

Octopus Diver by Voxel Forest 2021-04-26T07:23:57Z

Cute game with a nice aesthetic. I would have liked some sort of background music or ambience and a faster movement, but I liked the game overall. I especially like the inplicit guidance in the levels where the arrows were baked into the rocks, and the signifiers with the 3d audio of the pufferfish.

Savestate by Monkosum 2021-04-26T07:35:02Z

Very cool concept - the one thing I would change is the controls and move the save and load function to the right side of the keyboard or the mouse so the right hand controls that while the left hand control the movement. Otherwise, solid game with a lot of content and nice level progression.

Post Ghost by Luizamuller 2021-04-27T06:44:11Z

Cute game! My only issue is the movement controls being a bit tricky. The audio and art are really good and the game itself is fun as well. Well done!

STARPOON by RedSPINE 2021-04-27T00:08:06Z

Nice, simple, elegant. The hook or hurt mechanic works well - and the enemies turning into bombs that keep the momentum complements this nicely. I wish there was a way to cancel/change direction of the hook, because the long hook takes longer to reatract as well, but maybe that is part of the difficulty curve. The difficulty curve and progression were smooth too and the biggest detractor from the fun happens to be a bug that you addressed - which is fixable in a full game! Great experience with great audio and gameplay.

Tunnel Rats by GeneralSturgeon 2021-04-28T02:28:59Z

This was really fun! I would like to give props not only for an impressive 3d creation with a nice artstyle, but also for making a first-person game with good-feeling controls. I know this is a personal opinion(?) but I tend to get motion sickness on first-person jam-type games, but I didn't feel that at all here! The audio was also good and the characters and narrative elements were appealing as well.

Captain Zapdash by Nazorus 2021-04-26T07:45:14Z

Fun and engaging and elegant game. I played all the way to the end and never felt bored or like it was too difficult. The progression and audio too are great. However, why does Captain Zapdash moan. Every time he dies he moans. I mean, I'm not really bothered by it, I'm just wondering why. Overall great game.

Deep Sea by WuzzyWizard 2021-04-27T06:16:08Z

Fun game - the UX was on point with the audio, the knockback, the blood splatters.

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-04-27T00:59:33Z

At first I thought I was going to play an infinite runner but this game was so much more. A well-done upgrade system that allows for and encourages replayability combined with a game loop that keeps players engaged. Well done, I want to keep playing it, but if I don't stop now I will be here for hours.

Divide to go Deeper by JafCraze 2021-04-27T00:27:52Z

If I had to use one word to describe this game it would be CLEAN. The music is great, the transitions between levels is great, and even the seamless loop to restart the game is great. It feels quite polished. The one place I would suggest a bit of tuning would be the controls - sometimes it felt like the game was lagging when pulling, but maybe that's just my browser.

Magic Forest by RuslanCH 2021-04-26T10:09:49Z

Solid work! I started to get a bit of motion sickness towards the end, but this is prone to happen with infinite runners. A bit more variation in gameplay would be nice - maybe some platforms to jump on? The audio design was well done and the gameplay felt good - overall, neat game.

Way Down We Go by Slowfrog Again 2021-04-27T21:28:18Z

Fun, relaxing game. There wasn't too much incentive to dive deeper, but I had fun collecting the fish. The music was really nice too and fit very well.

In Too Deep by RefraX295 2021-04-26T10:47:07Z

It was fun game! I would have liked if there was a wider spread of the mining points - make the player choose what direction to expand. The core system though is solid, and would be a good base for an expanded game.

Minor Inconvenience by 1studio 2021-04-26T11:00:09Z

Cute game - simple and effective premise and gameplay. I went towards the green rocks at first because I thought they were good but they were bad too. The art, music, and sounds are good too.

Crypto-mine Disaster by Doc Kaos 2021-04-26T23:41:48Z

This was fun and cute! The difficulty ramps up quite a bit, but the intensity of the music fits. Nice job creating an intense yet humorous game!

Platforms Overlord by progdamn 2021-04-26T07:59:26Z

Simple and challenging. Innovative concept and aesthetics.

Deep Sleep - The Sandman by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-04-27T06:11:46Z

Cute game, good UX, signifiers, and feedback. Was there an ending? I felt like he was sleeping a long time, though I guess that's probably healthy and what I should do xd

Dig Deep Get Gold by Tim77 2021-04-27T00:34:20Z

Nice elegant game. It definitely nails everything it tries to be - rhythm/timing game that fits the theme. The speed up effect for combos/chains kept the tension and engagement high nicely - you will get a higher score, but it is harder, a simple progression mechanic. I felt compelled to give it a second try to attempt a higher score. Great work!

Jojo's Treasure by poddlesli 2021-04-27T06:37:59Z

Fun little game with simple but engaging gameplay. I found myself singing a little song while I dug for keys. I was only able to find one, but I still have fun!

Adventure: Depths & Dangers by yulotomorrow 2021-04-28T02:53:12Z

This was really cool - I was definitely more captivated by the coordinate puzzle system, and maybe this is because I felt like the seaweed part dragged on too long. Both were fun, don't get me wrong, but in a game with a bunch of minigames, I would play thes coordinates one way more. The audio was good and the art was cute! Well done!

Acceptance by wooliii 2021-04-27T00:20:52Z

I loved this - an nice puzzle game with a great atmosphere and an engaging narrative/themtic premise. I would love to see an expanded version of the game. The text was a bit weirdly spaced at times (the player character's dialogue would have uneven letter spacing). Otherwise, great game!

Eye will see you down there by vegmuffin 2021-04-27T00:40:09Z

Nice twist on an infinite runner-style game, having a stamina meter to actually do the running. It kept tension high and incorporated planning and some strategy nicely into a typically solely reaction-based genre. Great work!

Eye will see you down there by vegmuffin 2021-04-27T10:57:53Z

@vegmuffin I definitely think it could work for a rhythm game - what came to mind was rhythm mechanics similar to Enter the Gungeon. Though maybe moving on beat refills stamina? Maybe how well you are on beat changes the stamina refill speed? I dont know. Regardless, I think a rhythm aspect could be applied and be engaging.

Fish for Meaning by Steve Johnstone 2021-04-26T07:09:23Z

Decently challenging with solid progression. Depth-perception was hard at times, but overall nice concept and fun.

Recommended by Spluppo 2021-04-27T06:51:42Z

Fun game - the audio and visuals especially were very good. Sometimes it was hard to read the video titles, but overall it simulated the exact vibe it was aiming to in an engaging way. Well done

Deep into the vibe by Ariorick 2021-04-26T09:52:40Z

Neat game - very relaxing yet engaging. It was a bit hard at the start to get a feel for the platform movement/depth, but past that it was easy to get into the game loop/flow state. Great work!

Deeper or deeper by Loustak 2021-04-26T06:56:44Z

Cool and cute concept - it was simple, short and very engaging - quite elegant. I felt compelled to try again for a higher score.

Mind Hunter by Hotpaw 2021-04-26T10:30:49Z

I am going to start by saying that I had no idea how to get the right answers the entire time... yet I was totally engaged and enjoyed it. Despite not knowing the objective, I felt compelled to continue and try to figure it out. I think this can be attributed to the great atmosphere, UX, and premise. Solid work, though I would have like a bit more guidance so I could understand more of what I was looking for.
