All the eyes staring at you is anxiety inducing. Really cool idea!

All the eyes staring at you is anxiety inducing. Really cool idea!
Nice concept. I liked the cant move up part, wish I could get rid of the instructions, seemed to obstruct my view. Sounds were funny
I got to ground level 132. Sound was nice, the "froggie" sounds didn't seem to any reason for sounding. Some of the eyes actually stopped and had a staring contest with each other.
It's impressive how much character design you can do by varying the eyebrows on a floating pair of eyes. Despite their simplicity, the enemies have distinct personality.
I really like it. Nice art. Good concept.
The expression of the eyes makes it clear which of the directions they move in, but the glasses tripped me up. How you came up with the floating eyes thing baffles me, but it is incredibly creative! Great job.
The minimal art and mechanics are quite elegant. I would like a more difficult mode where the stamina bar recharges quicker and more enemies spawn :)
Thanks a lot for the comments guys! - @smash90210 the instructions disappear at ground level 3, I guess I could have made it disappear sooner; - @mizatorian good to know I sound like a frog! The sounds are when the enemy eyes meet each other and have the staring contest to decide which pair should move out of the way; - @ksadov that's awesome to hear! In the past I've tried with various pixel art directions but nothing clicked so I just slapped some rectangles on some circles and I was amazed too :) ; - @scidev I came up with the floating eyes because I cannot do any character design and the original game idea was to have a bunch of different tiles which would act as the "*body*" of the pair of eyes, with different benefits, but that turned out to be a little out of my scope :D ; - @zykra something for the future? ;)
I really like how predictable the eyes are
Thank you very much for your entry - I hope you had great fun making it
This is a relatively simple yet appealing idea - great job.
I hope you'll drop by mine and give it a spin
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
Such a low amount of stamina can definitely make it challenging and not being able to go up is great addition. Pretty simple game with cool graphics.
Nice clean art style, simple concept well executed.
Cool game, I love the creepy eyes! I would suggest making a visual effect when you teleport, indicating where on the screen you are now. Sometimes there were a lot of glasses visible at the same time, and I had trouble finding my character again.
@wunarg @purpledartfrog @listonos @weirdybeardyman Thank you! @last-angle yeah I tried to do a visual effect on teleporting, but I think that's only somewhat visible if the glasses are close enough, so that's something to work on for sure
I was so looking forward to putting on the 3D glasses and stomping out the enemy eyes pac-man style! Alas, it was not meant to be. Fun to play! Thanks for making this!
Nice game!
I find myself waiting safely a lot, I would rather have a turn based game, where ennemies move one/two cell each time you move, than having to wait.
Dude, this was awesome! the stamina meter being so low really stresses you out lol. Especially when the eyes follow you. Simple controls, simple gameplay. Nice polished experience. Great job!
Nice idea to design the enemies in a way that their appearance reflects their movement pattern.
- @clemonades @nekusoul thanks guys for the compliments, means a lot! - @dhim yeah that would also solve the problem of inconsistencies, for lets say checking whether a tile is occupied or not (is it still moving? on which side is it really?) - @kernon you remind me of a colleague that said "*if the whole world doesn't turn 3D I'm gonna be disappointed*". Thank you for playing!
It's a really bizarre game idea, and it actually works. It's fun to learn the mechanics of all the different eye types. It's pretty tense to play. It impressed me the way the enemy eyes can fight each other.
Cool game. I wish there was some mechanical link to you being eyes besides the visuals. Well done and I would like to see more of this.
Felt like there was very little incentive to move sideways. I'd just stay in one lane and press down when it was clear or to avoid enemies. Optimal route but also a little boring. Also there didn't seem to be advantages to warping with the eyes as it would mostly send you back! Cute sounds and idea could be developed into a fun game I think!
Cool game, congrats!
It starts of quite easy, but it really becomes stressing has you go down (around level 30 its becomes challenging for me). I love the sound, and the visual are simple but effective.
If you continue working on this, maybe you could has different kind of enemies to spice things up?
Also, I faced an "unfair" death once: I used 3D glasses to teleport, and wrapped to another 3D glasses tile where an enemy was already here (the enemy is displayed below the glasses, making it even harder to notice).
Anyway, cool game, and I hope you keep working on it!
Nice twist on an infinite runner-style game, having a stamina meter to actually do the running. It kept tension high and incorporated planning and some strategy nicely into a typically solely reaction-based genre. Great work!
The game's really neat, the audio and art style mesh together to sorta create an anxious feeling. I like the cohesive eye theme with the 3d glasses portal. The stamina bar also paces the game really well. While the audio you have is good, I would like to see some more variety though!
Nicely done. I liked learning the enemy eye's movement patterns. It reminded me of Pac-Man, and a little of Number Crunchers which I loved when I was a kid. I would definitely play a post-compo version of this!
Wow, woke up to a bunch of reviews & comments, amazing. - @nyxkn @rhoff95 yep after reading comments & listening to other people say something about the game, the idea would be to lets say shoot thin lightnings between two pairs of glasses or at least have some arrow indicator to help ya out; - @nyxkn hmm good to know! Maybe some different enemy types to incentivize you to move sideways? I may have some ideas :D ; - @drludos hah, I suppose it just spawned that way, there's no difficulty curve at all. The enemies just spawn around you. Yeah I have some ideas for different enemies in mind, but if I continue working on it, I would likely fix up the most annoying things like the unfairness you mention, or implementing a difficulty curve, etc; - @phthalogold thanks a lot! It just worked out that way with the random spawning I implemented. I'm not sure about this but do you think it would make for a good rhythm based game?; - @aditya-kumar hearing that something meshes together makes me really happy, I've been really terrible with having something cohesive throughout the game. I totally get you with the audio, I recorded myself being childishly angry and was able to extract only one effect where it doesn't sound absolutely ridiculous :D ; - @kevinworkman now that you mention it, the eyes without a body do remind me of the eaten pac-man ghosts fleeing back to the center, cool! I hope you enjoyed it!.
This is very wholesome for me as a first real submission to a gamejam, makes me want to develop this more! :)
@reheated ah yeah, the idea for the eyes fighting each other was that I didn't want multiple eyes to overlap on one tile, so I made them not go on occupied ones. I didn't want them just to stay and do nothing so I made them angry at each other. It turned out to be quite the personality! :D
Wow! That was so original! I can't remember the last time I played a game that didn't remind me of another game I've played before. It really was a completely new and fresh gaming experience for me  Thank you for making this!
Haha really nice. It's like a game on graph paper. :)
@vegmuffin I definitely think it could work for a rhythm game - what came to mind was rhythm mechanics similar to Enter the Gungeon. Though maybe moving on beat refills stamina? Maybe how well you are on beat changes the stamina refill speed? I dont know. Regardless, I think a rhythm aspect could be applied and be engaging.
good idea, i reckon this could do with a little more polish but the idea is sound.
Took some strategy to look at how the enemies were moving and what patterns that involved. Good job on the various movement types. The only difficult part was the visibility of location after transporting through the glasses. The grey was hard to see. Good job!
Very fun idea and great execution. I love how you used the design of the characters to tell the player what movement patterns they perform, this made it so much easier to plan ahead and know if I was safe or not. Great job. :)
Really innovative idea! I got to 95 before being stared down. It was interesting the way that you made it difficult by adding a stamina bar. Maybe you could add coins to collect so that each playthrough you can upgrade your stamina refill time for more of a rogue lite feel.
