LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep the GameBoy alive. (on GameBoy Advance) by Timo Strating 2020-04-21T11:37:57Z

Really nice game overall ! Although quite simple, it gets tricky very quickly. I am not the biggest fan of the fact that if you fail twice, you go back to the beginning of the game, but it forces you to get better at the game, so it is helpful to finish the final levels. Also, knowing that the game works on a GBA emulator is really impressive, so great job !

A Data Story by beetracks 2020-04-21T08:16:50Z

Really great concept, and executed pretty well ! The game is quite easy to handle, and the design of the levels truly make the game very interesting, so much that I wouldn't have minded playing more of it. The presentation/graphics/audio are also pretty enjoyable, so good job !

goose no lose by Kultisti 2020-04-21T11:27:57Z

Really fun game ! The controls are pretty intuitive and the presentation is really effective (the tutorial at the beginning was useful, considering all the things you need to do to finish a level). Also, the graphics and the sound effects were pleasant, so great work overall !

Keep It Afloat by ZeGGamer 2020-04-22T09:11:03Z

Really great work ! The concept is very interesting and the execution is really good, the graphics and sound design enhance the experience, the variety of the enemies make the game always interesting and not redundant and the difficulty curve is managed pretty well. I was afraid of the controls at first, due to the fact that my keyboard isn't a QWERTY one, but giving the option to play with a controller is a brilliant idea. Great job !

Keep the blob alive ! by NewinGames 2020-04-21T08:04:51Z

Really nice work ! The gameplay is really interesting, and it is quite fun to choose how to expand your blob by trying to figure out which configuration would be the most appropriate against the enemy blobs. The graphics/audio/presentation are also quite nice, so great job !

Memes Never Die by James_7777 2020-04-22T12:22:26Z

Really impressive game ! The concept is great, the graphics and sound design are really well done, and the level design/placement of the poster spots and people is interesting enough to make you want to replay the level until you have found them all. Also, drawing the meme at the beginning of each playthrough adds a lot to the replay value, so excellent job !

Cable Guy by sorko 2020-04-22T09:27:26Z

Really great game ! The concept is excellent, and the execution is pretty good as well. The cable physics make the experience very enjoyable, and the level design is also quite interesting. Concerning the controls, I do not think that putting the interact button on F would be the best option (maybe the Enter Button would be better, since it isn't right next to the moving buttons ?), but the rest is satisfying. Great experience overall.

The Adventures of Eggbert by BattleCat 2020-04-22T08:58:14Z

Really cool production ! The graphics, the sound design and overall esthetic are well executed, and the concept is pretty interesting. The only issue I would have is that the Jump Button is on the Shift Button, which doesn't feel as intuitive as putting it on the Space Bar for example, but this is just a minor detail, considering all the great things achieved in this project. Great job !

Hedgehog Survival by Vaanrile 2020-04-21T12:25:37Z

@svarttand Thanks for the feedback ! Actually, being able to place the hedgehogs outside of the play screen was intentional, because otherwise the game would be much more complicated when the timer is over 1 minute, and when there are over 20 hedgehogs on screen, being able to clean the screen a bit can prove quite useful. Concerning the spawn rate, I agree that it might be too easy, but since the hedgehogs' patterns are pretty random, I didn't want to make the difficulty curve too harsh for the newcomers, so I decided to settle for the actual rate, so that the game gets harder progressively.

Hedgehog Survival by Vaanrile 2020-04-22T12:57:00Z

@akronsus Thanks for the feedback! When designing the game, I didn't want to make the difficulty curve too harsh, but since the generation and movements of the hedgehogs are totally random, the game can get quite easy, like in your playthrough. Maybe limiting the randomness factor would have been a better option to ensure that the difficulty doesn't vary as much between playthrough.

Steve: Cute & Hungry by JuiceGrape 2020-04-21T09:21:59Z

Excellent game ! The puzzles are quite clever, the variety of the settings keep the player engaged throughout the entire game, and the presentation/graphics are really effective. Great work !

Keep Pit Alive! by BunnyDen 2020-04-21T09:52:40Z

Great work ! The animations of the horse are pretty smooth, the environments are quite pleasing. The collectibles make the whole game more enjoyable and more replayable, because they give you an incentive to explore the whole game, and it feels really rewarding to collect them. Overall, really nice experience !

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Morning Shift by Iluvatar 2021-05-06T14:39:47Z

First of all, I am really pleased to see a game made on Adventure Game Studio on the Ludum Dare, I wish there were more ! Concerning the game, I enjoyed the graphics and the setting a lot, and the interactions (although limited) were pretty nice. As everyone said, the game is quite short, but the whole production value makes up for it. Anyways, great job, I appreciated your game a lot (and I wouldn't mind waiting for a follow-up to this game) !

DDR: Dive Dive Revolution by Tyrannas 2021-04-29T10:17:18Z

Really cool game ! The gameplay is really imaginative and well executed, as well as the graphics/sound design, which have a really great production value. I really liked the hand coordination part and personally didn't have much problem with it, eventhough I guess already being used to rhythm games on computer helps quite a lot. Anyways, great job, I appreciated your production a lot !

Dive into by foxy 2021-05-01T08:19:17Z

Nice production ! The graphics/animations are pretty cool, and the gameplay is really fun (eventhough the long-ranged weapon has an undeniable advantage over the short-ranged one). Overall, nice job for making this game !

Callous by MateusBoga 2021-04-27T19:09:59Z

Excellent game ! I found the storytelling and the concept quite excellent, but more importantly, I really loved the graphics and atmosphere, which were really great. I had trouble at the beginning figuring out what to do because I thought, based on the different colors and different interactable items, that they were a pattern to follow in order to progress, although I guess it turned out to be a bit different. Aside from this minor problem, congratulations for making this game, I hugely appreciated it !

Ocean Cleanup by Weirdybeardyman 2021-04-26T16:40:30Z

Nice concept overall ! I had a great time playing your game, eventhough I still can't quite steer the submarine like I would want to due to the huge amount of button that you have to use in order to control the ship properly (which isn't quite different from how you are supposed to control a real submarine with the many buttons and switches on the control panel, so good job for making it realistic).

Adventurer of the deep by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2021-04-26T16:50:32Z

Nice job ! I liked the controls and the graphics were quite nice and varied. Also, congratulations for the huge amount of content implemented with the upgrade and the different NPCs, it brings a lot to the whole experience !

Reminiscence by Curtis Pelissier 2021-05-15T21:40:52Z

Really nice game ! The graphics and musics are really good, and the overall experience was really pleasant. I had a bit of trouble with the third level until I realized how the controls worked for this part, then it went alright. Also, I played the downloadable version since the HTML version was a bit laggy for me at first. Anyways, nice job (j'ai beaucoup apprécié, c'était très cool) !

Penguins can't fly by Attala 2021-04-26T15:23:50Z

Really fun game ! Great concept, great audio and a very addicting experience overall (I forgot how many times I have restarted the game, but I am sure it was way more than once). Good job !

Down There Somewhere! by ETdoFresh 2021-04-26T16:56:24Z

Nice game ! The gameplay was quite pleasing and I appreciate having multiple control options to choose from for playing the game. I really liked the sound effects when you are entering a new layer and the graphic style, it reminded me a lot of the old flash games I used to play on Newgrounds around the 2010's. Great job !

Investigate by Adrocodes 2021-04-26T15:40:54Z

Really interesting concept overall ! The graphics and presentation are quite pleasing. However, I think the balancing can vary a lot from one game to another : in one game, I had blue square every time and ended up winning without thinking too much by always clicking on them, and in another one, I almost ran out of time because of bad luck in the square distribution. This point aside, good job for making this game, it was a nice experience !

River, Carry Me Away by Noire 2021-05-06T14:26:40Z

Really great job ! The music and graphics were outstanding, and I really liked the subtle narration you are discovering throughout this game. The gameplay is certainly quite limited, but it doesn't really have an impact on the quality and enjoyment of the global experience. Congratulations for making this game !

Abyss Diver by Vaanrile 2021-04-26T15:56:19Z

@kernon Thanks for the feedback ! You are absolutely right, I had this level in mind while making the game (I first started the gameplay of the ship without thinking much of external references, and thought "Oh wow, that looks a lot like this level from Earthworm Jim, might as well base a part of the design of the game on it"). It can be seen especially for the rounded form of the player's submarine and the controls allowing the player to go smoothly in any direction, which I thought were quite nice.

Abyss Diver by Vaanrile 2021-04-26T16:18:19Z

@robowarrior1982 Thanks for the feedback. I quite agree for the collision problem, I initially wanted to make the hitboxes fit their graphic models, but since the blocs are quite detailed, the hitboxes had too many sides which made the browser version of the game lag quite a lot, so I had to simplify them a lot eventhough they weren't as clear as they could have been. But thanks again for the feedback, I will certainly take this into consideration for my future productions ! (and concerning the inertie part, I tried making the ship more slippery which was a nightmare to steer through the more narrow gaps, so I settled for these parameters, eventhough they can't be perfect)

Abyss Diver by Vaanrile 2021-05-07T20:38:31Z

@virimine Thanks for the feedback ! I initially had in mind the Tube level from Earthworm Jim when designing the gameplay, but now that you are saying it, I can definitely see the similarity with Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime (except for the co-op aspect of course, although my game can also be played cooperatively with one person controlling the direction and the other activating the propeller if you are brave enough !).

Deeper Learning by NachoLR 2021-04-29T13:59:33Z

Really great game ! The puzzles and dialogues are pretty cool and interesting to follow, the UI is really intuitive and pleasant to the eye, and I quite liked the storytelling. However (without spoiling), is the "no escape" part truly the end of the game, or are there other events afterwards ? Anyways, congratulations for this nice game, I really enjoyed playing through it !

The Crystal Cavern by Matthew Cohan 2021-04-26T18:49:56Z

Nice game overall. The gameplay is quite simple but effective, and the graphics are really pleasing to the eye. The difficulty curve is maybe a bit too progressive for a game of this kind : it takes a bit of time for the game to get challenging, which doesn't encourage repeated playthroughs, but it is far from being a huge dealbreaker. Overall, great job, I really enjoyed playing your game !

A Taste of the Past by Emily Pitcher 2021-04-27T21:52:21Z

Really great game, very pleasing presentation and a really good storytelling. I quite liked how the cooking gameplay (also well made by the way) was tied into the main narrative. Congratulations for making such a a great entry, and I can't wait to see what the project will become when the full length version will be out !

Oceanwork by Warrrkus 2021-04-27T11:05:27Z

Great game ! The visuals are awesome, and the gameplay is quite smooth. I also liked the huge amount of content with all the different upgrades and the map you have to explore progressively, although the levelling system with the money required might be a bit too high, which forces you to grind maybe too much. Aside from that, really great production, I enjoyed my time playing through it !

Prospector Paranoia by Kovi 2021-04-26T18:04:32Z

Really nice game ! I liked the graphics and the controls (eventhough I am not the biggest fan of the high speed of the character) and overall, the game was pretty pleasant to play. However, based on what I have played, the sanity concept could have been expanded a bit more with more explicit indications (like some kind of meter or things like filters), although I really liked the different kinds of Ghosts I could encounter. Also, since there weren't any indications of the materials I mined or the amount I should mine to go the next part of the game, I just ended up running around to the next part of the cave without worrying too much about mining. Anyways, some things could be improved, but the current game is already pretty great, so good job !

Todd the Caver by Sam Bigos 2021-05-01T11:24:54Z

Really great game ! I liked the music/graphics a lot, and the gameplay is really enjoyable (I took way longer than expected to get used to it, then I switched to a QWERTY keyboard which then became way more intuitive to control, although quite hard). Anyways, great job, I enjoyed playing through your game a lot !

The Final Journey by kernon 2021-04-26T16:09:30Z

Really great experience ! Although the gameplay is as simple as one can get, the music and atmosphere make for a very memorable experience. Also, congratulations for being able to put two distinct meanings of "Deeper" into the same game. Great job !

Infernal Jam by HiddenTavern 2021-04-29T14:57:26Z

Really fun game ! The graphics and presentation were very nice, and I found the main concept and the various jokes quite effective for this experience. Although the game was quite short, I enjoyed my time playing it, so good job !

Lord Of The Flies by PixelPortalz 2021-04-26T18:42:13Z

Really great game ! It takes a bit of time to get used to, but at least it is quite fun to learn how to do so. I really enjoyed the sound design, the graphic style was pretty neat and overall I had a great time playing through the game. Awesome job !

Find The Page! by Rouge_dragon 2021-04-26T18:27:25Z

Awesome concept, flawless execution, overall really fun game, what else needs to be said ? Great job !

Adventure: Depths & Dangers by yulotomorrow 2021-04-29T11:18:16Z

Really good game ! Quite a lot of content for a compo game, with the different gameplay sections and the many different assets. I liked the different gameplay parts, the variety of the graphics and the narration, even if I'm still quite confused by the ending (maybe it is teasing a future project ?). Anyways, great production, I really enjoyed playing through it !

WINCH by Gorialis 2021-04-26T17:31:32Z

Awesome game ! I really liked the puzzles and the different interactions. I had some problem at first with the mouse control (especially when you have to move a bloc horizontally quickly), but I got used to it, and there weren't many puzzles based on precise timing so it wasn't a huge problem. This point aside, I absolutely enjoyed playing through the entire game so excellent job !

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Moskitos !!! Vengeance Of The Terror From The Sleepless Night by Vaanrile 2024-10-12T12:30:00Z

@nicole-a Thanks a lot for your feedback, and glad that you enjoyed our game ! There were indeed more interactions planned like specific sounds for object interactions (especially for the instruments) and for stepping on the Lego (quite a painful one considering that the player isn't wearing slippers), unfortunately we ran a bit short on time so we couldn't implement them (maybe they will come back in a near future ?).

The farthest clip was to simulate a short-distance visibility because of the lack of lights, the transition could be a bit smoother at the end of the view distance though.

Anyway, thanks for your comment (and for noticing the great Game Over screen too) !
