A really clever, quick, and nicely designed game. Visuals are simple yet stunning for being made in so little time.

Well done to the team.

pe7e 2021-04-27 11:51

Nice looks and mood

ayxh 2021-04-27 11:56

Love the aesthetic and sound design! I really like the atmosphere you created in this game :)

nectanebo 2021-04-27 12:01

I really loved the cutscenes of the new tools you get, great aesthetic! I can see the inspiration of Gris, on the structures and the trees! The mood is kinda nostalgic and heavy, and the music is really good! You can work more on the character animations, but this is not that important. The storyline is interesting too! Great vibe, keep it up!

pandaderzwote 2021-04-27 12:01

I liked the idea behind the game very much. The mood was good and the theme of the game fit it very well. Was a bit bummed out that there wasn't a more complex set of puzzles to be solves with the given tools, but I guess that speaks for the game.

morg 2021-04-27 12:07

I really liked the mood of the game, the sound design also is really solid. A few things to mentions though:

* It seems to have AZERTY controls, which makes it very awkward/impossible to move around and also interact with the mouse comfortably

* In the first level there is a fire with positional sound that seems to go from left to right speaker with no gradation/transition which stands out quite a bit compared to the rest of the game's audio

* I could not get past the third level (the one where you get the torch) because I couldn't figure out what to do unfortunately (but that might be just me being dumb)

* It would've been nicer if the sprite could have moved a bit faster, but I understand that might have been a specific game design decision (for the mood). It's just a bit uncomfortable to backtrack to check if you have missed something or not

hardcoded 2021-04-27 12:12

Cute little game, I miss some in-game control explanation. Great atmosphere with the use of lighting and music.

Good job!

funambulist-cat 2021-04-27 12:24

Hi ! The originality and story were well brought by the minimal but awesome graphics, I loved the soft and melancolic vibe in the sound that matched the fading edges of the levels, simple and enjoyable ! The work on the lighting is simply gorgeous ! Great Experience !

sebirit 2021-04-27 14:20

love the intro screen and the white doors! very nice mechanics too! : )

curtis-pelissier 2021-04-27 16:09

@pandaderzwote Thank you! Yeah we didn't got the time to design more complex puzzles. Game jam things...

@morg I made a patch to add the QWERTY input. I'm sorry about that, we are french team, and we have AZERTY keyboard so. I added the spacebar and left shift input if you don't want to use the mouse. But it's better (like any other platformer) to play with a gamepad ^^ I also fixed the fire SFX in the first level (it was very bad spatialized). The third level has a puzzle a bit tricky if you didn't pay attention in previous levels (the eyes puzzle's). The speed of the player is fixed because of the story (old -> slow, adult -> normal, child -> faster). I understand that some people would love to play "faster", but it would broke the mood of the game. Sorry :/

villanelle 2021-04-27 19:43

The concept behind the game is great! The music helped to stablish the mood so well... Wish there was more levels to play, congrats!

vladadamm 2021-04-27 19:49

Liked the concept and the mood, and the audio and character sprites (+ title screen) contributed to that a lot. Going deeper into your past was also a nice interpretation of the theme.

Here's some nitpicking : - The fire SFX at the end of the first level was either full left or full right in spatialization with no transition. - Level 2's first 'puzzle' wall is invisible due to grey on grey. - Character is not visible in front of 'doors' (seeing an outline or something would be good imo) - In game control indications for torch were not obvious imo as it only shows Right Click while short & long clicks do separate things. - Character walking animation felt as if the character was moving slow while the actual movement was faster. Maybe a different scale (bigger character & smaller levels) could fix that though I don't know how that would impact the visual mood. - A "Press any key" or similar could be added to the title screen.

trusty 2021-04-27 20:59

Fun game, the lighting worked really well. I was able to bypass the first puzzle without doing anything for some reason. I did the puzzle the first time then the screen went grey later in the game so I had to restart. When restarting I hastily went down the steps and the first blocker didnt stop me. Overall fun pretty fun. Thanks for the game.

firas-mourad 2021-04-27 21:02

I enjoyed playing the game, the mood is very soothing and I especially liked the simple graphics. Great job! :)

mza 2021-04-27 21:05

Great moody game. Nice visuals. only nitpicky comment i have is that it felt really slow at times.

drskort 2021-04-27 21:08

I really like the idea of the game and it fit the theme very well. The minimalist artstyle of the castle was really beautiful and consistent. The music really helped shape the mood of the game. I think the levels themselves were a bit short. There could have been maybe more puzzles, but I understand that this might have been not possible under this time constraint ^^ What I really mean is that I really would have enjoyed seeing more puzzles revolving these mechanics.

anaferus 2021-04-27 21:09

Simple and concise. I didn't fully understand the torch mechanic, but I still played the game to the end. (the place where you need to extinguish the torch next to the rectangle). Looks whole and assembled. Good job!

2021-04-27 21:12

The graphics gave serious monument valley vibes.

I LOVE monument valley.

The puzzles were enjoyable (if a bit easy) and I liked the move speed that changed with age. Great game.

justinmullin 2021-04-27 22:15

What a beautiful game! The music and the art bind together so well, and the simple animations are just right. I love it. The gameplay itself is pretty limited in this submission, just kinda scratching the surface of the mechanics, but what's cool is I can see how this could be extended into a longer puzzle game with the elements you've put together. It's just enough to get a taste for some interesting things. Great exercise in minimalism and quite a touching little story. =)

phobos 2021-04-27 22:56

The games looks good, but is just boring. The enigma are a bit too easy, and it lacks of some feedbacks.

vuvuzela80 2021-04-28 14:10

Very beautiful game! I like the style : art and music. May be the enigma must be a little bit more complex. However you must be proud of the result!

karo 2021-04-28 18:12

This is beautiful! The art is amazing. Simple but it totally fits the mood. I liked the fixed speed of the characters.

I'd liked a bit more complex puzzles and maybe more story. In the end you just walk around three different locations and thats it. It may have been a nice addition that when you reach certain areas in the levels, you could see a scene from the characters life. Like a photo or something. But I get that maybe there wasn't enough time.

overall i really enjoyed this little game. ♥

medocapra 2021-04-30 09:53

I loved the graphics and audio, they were just perfect for the mood and atmosphere created by the game. I think the game wasn't that challenging, but that might just be my preference. Overall though, it was a very pleasant experience!

miej 2021-04-30 10:04

really nice style and use of theme in this game! the puzzles were pretty simple and so the walking felt a bit slow/tedious at times, but overall this was a very nice submission!

frobros 2021-04-30 14:07

The simple but nice artstyle creates a nice Athmosphere.

doot 2021-04-30 17:59

Very nice little game!

I love the art, looks a lot like Gris and that is definitely a good thing! The music is fantastic, did you compose it for the jam? That is impressive!

I like the slow rhythm the game set, even if a tiny bit more move speed would feel good I guess. The puzzle are simple and let you enjoy the mood.

Thanks for the game 💕

curtis-pelissier 2021-04-30 18:09

Thank you everybody! You seems to like the combination of art and music, and I'm glad to hear that because I composed the differents musical themes in a really short time.

@doot Yeah, I've made the music during the jam, when my game designer was designing all the mechanics. So I got a short time to create ~5 tracks (one isn't in the game because it was too incomplete). So thank you for your feedback

halberd 2021-04-30 19:03

What a beautiful little game, wonderful visuals and music!

the-body 2021-04-30 19:20

Nice pure visual and music! I like the lighting. On the other hand, the movement could be faster for me. Overall nice game

chacawott 2021-04-30 19:29

Such a beautiful little game. The enigma are little bit easy, but the mood and the music are so pleasant and peaceful soothing. It is the kind of game, that I hope there will be a sequel, if yes I'll play with big pleasure :) Good job guys

alexascher 2021-04-30 19:32

nice mood

joeshanahan 2021-04-30 19:59

Love the aesthetic and the music, both of them "reminiscent" of a particular game that I've been listening to the soundtrack a lot lately

The game has a great mood to it too, I just wish I could move a bit faster. Even if that meant getting through the content faster, it would've raised the percentage of the playtime that I was actively doing something, rather than waiting for the character to get somewhere while I hold down a button.

rewzu 2021-04-30 23:10

The graphics are so simple yet they look so nice. Audio is neat as well. Especially the music is great and it helps to achieve great mood. It is really enjoyable and relaxing. Wish it was longer. Good job! :D

petitpois 2021-05-01 01:47

absolutely beautiful game, love the puzzle mechanics. The graphics are lovely and music was so relaxing. I love the room where it is clear you were teaching the player about a new skill. Very intuitive. Great job.

silkypantsdan 2021-05-01 10:29

Great short puzzle game, and beautiful illustrations! It seems like there is a larger story to be told here, and I hope that it might get it's chance post jam.

Only thing I can say was "missing" was a way to exit the game after (other than Alt+F4)

Great entry!

lesinvisible 2021-05-01 23:08

I liked the visual design of this game, it's just amazing and very effective in conveying the story. I think that this game could definitely benefit from the post-JAM development.

kremlebot 2021-05-02 19:02

Great art and interesting idea. It was realy unexpected when old women changed to yuong girl.

shin0nome 2021-05-02 19:10

Emotion, it's the only word I have. The music, the graphics, the level design... it's perfect. This game is really good and want to tell a story. I thought I was playing "Gris" or "Monument Valley". Good job to the team, it was a great game experience !

tigermouse 2021-05-02 20:11

I really like the atmosphere and the art. The puzzles were quite simple but overall this is a nicely polished little game. Good work!

neowise06 2021-05-04 10:33

Good game, well done. The only thing I personally didnt like about it, is that the lady was too slow. But overall great game

stin 2021-05-04 10:43

Simple but cool graphics like it.Good job!!

candlelight 2021-05-04 18:47

The soundtrack elavates this game so much, amplifying its mood and atmosphere. It feels like a narrative driven game done right. I only wish there was more story to uncover and figure out. :)

arista 2021-05-04 21:05

Very nice mood, with a eery atmosphere and an almost meditative feeling. A lot of thought put into the narrative to create an eventful experience. Good job !

jrevel 2021-05-05 10:24

The mood is really well set here, with both graphics and audio working amazingly ! I just wish the pace of the game was just a bit faster, the characters move very slowly and there is to do a lot of walking before reaching the places where there is gameplay.

justcamh 2021-05-06 00:25

Hey matey, thanks for submitting your game to stream! I really enjoyed it, and I hope my feedback helps! Here's the vod if ya wanna rewatch later;

harusame 2021-05-06 11:56

nice little poetic game :) I really like the music and the 2d shadows.

gaming-night 2021-05-06 13:03

Nice and moody experience. I liked the subtle storytelling. Gameplay is slow and simple but joins in the general atmosphere. As I saw in another comment, this game would definitively benefit from a post-jam version. Thanks!

meta-link 2021-05-06 15:05

Cool game ! The gameplay is a little bit slow for me, but the art is gorgeous and the global atmosphere really well made.

Good job

rocktavious 2021-05-06 18:51

Cool game, nice job with the art and the mood. At first I couldn't visually tell you could walk past the stairs and then later when I did it wasn't immediately intuitive how to walk back up them. I think having some sort of art change to signal you can walk past stairs instead of having them be the same as the ground color would have helped. Not sure what to do for the stairs walking up.

I like how many game mechanics you introduced but since it was a game jam it would have been better to pick 1 or 2 and really dive deep into them (this is something I myself succumb too when I make jam game too - many mechanics none of them felt great or fleshed out)

Great job overall!

crazyrems 2021-05-12 20:22

Very nice, reminds me a lot of «Gris».

Pretty pretty, solid, simple looking but efficient.

leggy 2021-05-13 13:14

liked the journey with links to the past. It lacked a bit of in game explaination but it put me in a nice mood. Thanks for submitting this :)

wakobu 2021-05-15 20:43

Salut Curtis !

vaanrile 2021-05-15 21:40

Really nice game ! The graphics and musics are really good, and the overall experience was really pleasant. I had a bit of trouble with the third level until I realized how the controls worked for this part, then it went alright. Also, I played the downloadable version since the HTML version was a bit laggy for me at first. Anyways, nice job (j'ai beaucoup apprécié, c'était très cool) !

patrickrmc 2021-05-16 12:46

One of the best games I've seen in terms of mood and audio, definitely gets a 5 star on both of those, really solid game. Easy to get into and easy to understand even without needing an explanation.

hexa3 2021-05-18 09:15

Nice entry! Pleasant visual and sound, really enjoyed it!
