LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Infinite Cycle by Kirill Nepomnyaschiy 2020-10-06T10:41:53Z

Great game ! Pretty hard, but fun to play ! The idea of having buildings that repair / boost the closest building is really cool !

TCHOU by Sirkovitch 2020-10-06T13:37:24Z

Really fun, clever idea, and beautiful art !

Rail Gun by jharler 2020-10-06T14:06:46Z

I like that game a lot ! Fun arcade gameplay, nice esthetics, and fits perfectly with the theme

Magmania by CameronPenner 2020-10-26T21:44:02Z

Pretty cool game ! That is one of the first games I played, but I forgot to comment it, so here it is ! The gameplay works really well, even if it is a bit hard to understand controls at first. I feel some kind of safe time in the beginning would have been good to let the player get used to the controls and the gameplay in a non stressful environment. The concept does really fit the theme really well, it is cool to see how constraints can force you to bend game genres in creative ways. That is the kind of games that would be really fun in co-op

In a roundabout way by tiffi 2020-10-21T10:36:58Z

Pretty good entry ! It reminded me of the reason why I don't play mining games : I can spend hours on it even on very simple ones... I agree with the constructive comments you have received so far, a bit more polish would make it even better, but it's already really good

Hyperbolic Space Fighters Extreme! by gingerBill 2020-10-06T07:56:11Z

So beautiful ! Now I want to learn how to do that kind of generated art...

Stuck in a Loop (station) by erikiene 2020-10-13T19:03:28Z

Cool game and great execution ! It's fun how you started with the same base idea as our team, but ended up with something totally different. That's really inspiring !

Regicide by homeworld 2020-10-07T08:20:31Z

Wow, that is a very ambitious project for a game jam, but you nailed it ! Cool aesthetics, simple but fun sneak gameplay, that's very good work !

PolyFury by Dom Harris 2020-10-06T09:50:06Z

Great polish, you managed to make a very good looking game with very simple assets ! The gameplay is good, but the character is a bit too fast, it's very hard to dodge projectiles

PoopLoop by himeija 2020-10-06T18:49:50Z

Nice game ! The pooping mechanic is funny, but also really interesting gameplay wise ! and the graphics are so cute ! The only thing that was a bit tedious is that the poops are really small, having to click on every one is hard (hopefully there is the button that picks everything). It would have been more fun to have something like a poop vacuum cleaner that picks them one by one, but with which you just need to let the mouse button down

Dude Ranch by ColeSlaughter 2020-10-17T10:12:06Z

Thats a great game with a great execution ! It's fun, the humor and weirdness is so cool, the art is great, the only thing I find a bit strange is the scoring system. I don't really understand if grabbing a dude from far gives more point than catching it from close, I feel it should because it's harder, but when I tested both strategies, I ended up with almost the same score.

Looptober by Kornel 2020-10-06T08:48:56Z

I did not really understand what i am supposed to do, but the art and controls are great !

BOTLOOP by Bernhard 2020-10-27T00:43:08Z

I agree with @rhoff95 : the game is pretty well made, the graphics are cool, but the puzzles are a bit too hard to solve without trial and error. That is the problem most games with this approach have, it is really hard to predict the path the robot will take after a few loops, so when the levels become a bit large and the action count increases, finding the solution is too hard to be really fun. Or maybe it's just not my type of game. Anyways, it's a great compo entry, the game is not bugged, there are a lot of levels, and the art is simple yet is coherent, which gives the game a great level of polish. Well done !

Vegenant by js_ 2020-10-17T12:10:07Z

Pretty good game ! The weapons feel very different, the controls feel good, the enemies are recognisable and they have interesting patterns. As many people said before, some sound effects would have been better, but its already a pretty good entry !

Loop Skate by Cfdj43 2020-10-14T09:50:43Z

Cool game, but it is REALLY hard by default, that's too bad, it is not really engaging for newcomers. I restarted the game after seing that an option could make it slower by default. It's a matter of preference, but I don't think it is a very good way to set difficulty, I don't trust players to set the difficulty right if they have the choice, I feel they won't naturally try to challenge themselves. Other than that, the game is pretty beautiful and the gameplay is simple but works pretty well. Good job !

Training Loop by DomNomNom 2020-10-26T11:22:52Z

The idea is pretty cool and original, but I think it lacks feedback to understand if you are going to the right direction or not.

Galdir's Quest by Nehvis 2020-10-06T10:23:57Z

Cool game :) Fun spin on the theme, hard but fun ! I think godot has a way to export your projects directly to html, normally it does not need to program anything special to do it

Mars Loops by Oune 2020-10-10T11:01:05Z

The music in the victory screen is pretty cool ! Simple game, with puzzles that work well, great job :)

Caterpiloop by Marcus Otterstrom 2020-10-07T12:04:44Z

I can't find your windows build, there is only the web build in your itch.io page. Too bad, the game looks really cute :(

Caterpiloop by Marcus Otterstrom 2020-10-07T12:34:30Z

Cool, I could try it, pretty cool little game, with quality sounds ^^ For your build problems, maybe it is a problem of order of initialization, sometimes it not exactly the same between editor and builds, and can cause some strange problems. I hope it will help you :)

Cleano by TwistedHawk 2020-10-24T00:17:43Z

I wasn't expecting to have so much fun playing that game ! you managed to make the action of cleaning very rewarding !

Routine by Jammin 2020-10-13T08:56:32Z

wow that's dark ! The controls are a bit strange, because of the isometric visuals, but the art style and sound design are great !

Hyperloop by very dark lord 2020-10-20T13:03:34Z

Wow a 15 people team, thats a lot of people, that must have been hard to coordinate ! The result is really on point, congratulation ! Its very well polished for a jam game, and the horror atmosphere is really good ! The only problem I can point is the fact that you can get lost by going left at the start, and that was my first instinct, the game is a bit less fun when you stay in an endless empty tunnel ^^

Creed by dimlight 2020-10-12T20:42:34Z

The game is quite good, but that chara design... really ? Ludum dare is supposed to be for all audiences, putting that in the front page is not a good idea, it's even worse when you post that in the front page of the site...

Rhythm Step by Thulium Games 2020-10-19T13:34:39Z

Really cool ! The music is great, and the neon vibe gives it a really cool atmosphere ! I is a bit too hard in my opinion, the fact that you have very little time to choose your actions, you have to keep the actions for the next loop, and everything resets if you fail, it all contributes to make the game so hard that reaching the third level is already an achievement. some easier levels would have been welcome to let people really practice the mechanics before tackling that one. Really good game overall !

Stuck in a pool! by BlackLambert 2020-10-22T14:07:14Z

That was a bit short, but really fun ! Cool idea !

Harvest Minute by Malai 2020-10-06T08:46:07Z

Nice game ! I just wish the character could move a little bit faster

Killer Killer by WhoMakeWorse 2020-10-23T12:46:00Z

The attack animation is pretty cool ! The game lacks a bit of rythm to be really fun to play, but it works well.

CodeRunner by Nairi 2020-10-06T09:11:45Z

Great idea, the boss is pretty cool, but the enemy patterns make the game really hard.

Full Ascend by shaner421 2020-10-20T15:58:03Z

Pretty good game ! Graphics are nice and the gameplay is quite well polished. However it is really hard and I think it is mostly because of the physics : the character is very hard to control in the air, but its momentum suddenly disappears when he touches the ground, even if it is an ice floor, that is supposed to be slippery. Fine tune a bit more the physics, and you'll get a great platform game !

Petri Dish by johanhelsing 2020-10-24T00:37:19Z

That's a very fun toy to play with ! The game stopped by itself at a moment, I did not understand why, I still had a lot of entities (maybe too much ?) Overall, great job, the simulation works pretty well !

Recursive Arena by Becher 2020-10-06T13:23:30Z

What a clever idea ! and really well executed !

Delayed Delivery by Gustavo24104 2020-10-20T20:58:42Z

That was pretty confusing, there seems to be a lot of mechanics and I struggled to understand what I was supposed to do. I think reducing the scope a bit would have let you refine a bit more the first seconds of play, that are crucial especially for game jam games. Maybe putting the indications inside the game instead of having a book before playing would help.

Bullet planet by TC5550 2020-10-21T08:11:10Z

Graphics are pretty cool, and the game feel works really well ! With some different weapons and enemies, it would make a great game !

Mirror Space by AlexTagun 2020-10-06T10:30:55Z

Cool idea, beautiful (but a bit too flashy maybe ? It gets a bit too hypnotic on fullscreen). It just takes a lot of tries to get to the first enemy bullets, and thats where the game becomes interesting

DooooG by Marco Marchitelli 2020-10-11T11:22:18Z

What a funny idea ! And the execution is very good ! Cute graphics, fun game, you earned a 5/5 ! The only drawback I see is that levels are a bit too easy in my opinion, but I don't think the concept leaves a lot more place to level design without adding more features.

TIME TO DANCE! by Savvy Community 2020-10-06T10:51:44Z

A perfect jam game ! I love it !

Zgulls by ashashza 2020-10-12T11:54:02Z

Cool game ! That is a good take on the tower defense genre, I like that you don't really kill the enemy but just try to scare it away. The difficulty scales well throughout the game, I struggled a bit to reach the end but it was never frustrating.

Orbit by ZEN 2020-10-09T09:00:11Z

Cool game ! The gameplay is simple, but the polish is great, and the art style and the music fit perfectly !

Beat Bash by Overlook Studios 2020-10-07T13:43:41Z

Pretty cool game ! The gameplay is quite original and works well ! The art is great, even if some things are not really clear, it took me some time to understand how the shop system works. Great job !

Tuneloop by Jay Berlin 2020-10-22T15:24:12Z

That is an interesting concept, I love games with gameplay having an effect on the music (I also made one for this jam ^^), but the sound of the shoot is so loud that I could not hear the music properly while I played. The gameplay is pretty cool.

Invisibles' Loop by Acdia 2020-10-23T15:12:02Z

The idea is cool, but I did not really understand how I was supposed to play, I think the concept could have been simplified to be a bit more easy to understand. For example, I never had the time to understand how consoles work, as I kept being killed before I had time to write any command that did something : I type something, it says to type help to have info, i do that, I see there is a command EMP, I try that, it says I can't, and I get killed before I can do anything else. Maybe having buttons to click would have been better in this case ?

This is overall a very interesting concept, and the graphics work pretty well. It's too bad that the learning curve is so steep, the idea is promissing but for a game jam, one needs to catch the player immediately or lose him very quickly.

Orbitoor by omnes ludos 2020-10-22T14:23:00Z

Pretty cool idea ! that is a simple game mechanic, that works pretty well !

Ouroboros by JoeDev 2020-10-06T12:31:10Z

Looks great, and the feedback on the weapon is really good. But I could not really go far, it is really hard !

Rogue-Life by KeyLime 2020-10-20T14:27:27Z

Cool art, the game is a bit short but what is there works well. I'm sure next time you'll have more time to make proper level design !

Castle Hallway by gilazarini 2020-10-06T16:25:54Z

Cool use of the reign like gameplay, the cards are very beautiful and even if the story is a bit simple, the game is pretty interesting

- by SeansHome 2020-10-26T20:32:57Z

Wow, simple yet great experience. The concept is really cool, and the end is just perfect.

Doodle-Oop! by Hank Ather 2020-10-06T16:06:43Z

Very simple game, with a cute esthetic. I find the loop a bit hard to control, but I think I need a bit more training. Good work :)

GravLoop by AvatarGreggles 2020-10-23T15:27:55Z

Very fun game ! The idea is pretty cool, the timer mechanic gives an increasing difficulty that makes it challenging, but not hard enough to discourage the player. The physics are a bit strange at times, the jetpack is sometimes harder to control than necessary and can be a bit frustrating, but it did not prevent me from enjoying the experience. Really good job, the game is not perfect, many things could be improved but I have not seen a lot of games in this jam that are that well balanced :)

Loop of Doubt by King_Cacti 2020-10-12T14:09:20Z

Good job, especially for a first game jam ! That is quite a good game, the character controller is tight enough, it just lacks a bit of feedback to be really fun. Adding screen shakes, a small animation when an enemy receives damage (there is already particles, which is good, but I want to see my enemy suffer ! ^^) With a bit of training, adding those effects is not so time consuming and adds a lot to the juiciness of a jam game. Oh, and maybe not having to spam click would be cool...

Space duck: Platformer with space Hussites by Eliska 2020-10-06T07:17:33Z

Cool simple game, the music that changes at every level is what made me want to see the rest of the game !

Astronaut training by andriirinah 2020-10-06T09:59:30Z

At first I was a bit skeptical with the looping system, it felt like it was just squeezed in because of the theme, but it actually changes the dynamic of the game, thats pretty interesting gameplay wise. A simple idea well executed :)

I've Been Busy Being Dead by instrex 2020-10-12T20:14:36Z

Great job ! The idea is great and totally fits the theme, and the animation works so well ! I just wish there was a bit more gameplay, I did not find it that interesting, you just have haunt every object you can until the enemy dies, it lacked something to give it a bit more strategy.

Level2 by zacharieg 2020-10-23T21:05:46Z

Cool idea, and you implemented it pretty well with some really good level design ideas !

15 Seconds time cop by teonino 2020-10-06T09:43:33Z

Great concept, and the idea of having interactable items that change the character behaviour is really clever ! But even with that the game is still pretty hard.

Space Drummer by Guilloteam 2020-10-06T08:22:10Z

For those interested, we just added an HTML build of the game :)

INSIDE THE LOOP by aerloth 2020-10-24T19:14:52Z

Amazing game ! The graphics, the audio, the concept, everything is on point ! The controls could have been more intuitive, but it works already pretty well :)

T O R O I D I R by Charlie Hall 2020-10-06T15:59:20Z

Cool game, with a very interesting gameplay. The art style is simple, but conveys a smooth ambience. The only negative feedback I can give is the lack of feedback when you catch an item, at first I did not know what I had to take and what I had not to (mostly because I did not read instructions ^^).

Smells Like Chlorine by TheGreenWorm 2020-10-26T20:16:10Z

Great job, that game is amazing. It's the most beautiful 3D game I've seen in this jam, the audio gives a lot to the ambience, and the scenario is really well written. Everything has a great polish, I have seen no bugs, I got really catched in the story and the ambience.

I'll give you the small details I feel could have been improved : - At the very beginning, the text says "go to the right" to go to the receptionnist. I find it could have been skipped if the level design was changed just a bit. I personnally skipped too fast that text, and ended up going left... - having to specify that the accountant office is next to the administrators one has the same kind of problem, maybe just putting a sign would have allowed to remove it. But maybe you did not want to make the door different, because later they are reused and must not have any sign ? - The puzzle with the employees of the month is a bit too long to solve, I think it needs too much backtracking to be solved, and the colors (especially the blues) used are too close. I had to check a few times (meaning walking all the way to the other side of the corridor) a few times to check which blue I was supposed to find. It made me get out of the experience for a while.

Overall, this is one of the most interesting games I have seen in this jam. Well done !

HOLD A TO DRIFT by Brainwash Gang 2020-10-06T15:33:15Z

Wow, that's so beautiful, the music, the gameplay and the visual fit perfectly and convey a great atmosphere... Amazing work !

Super Sushi Circuit by Tayo 2020-10-19T10:37:50Z

Cool idea, and the art style is great ! The game is a bit too hard to be really fun, there is not enough feedback to understand why you fail when you do. Maybe it's because everything goes a bit too fast.

Looped by Leo Red 2020-10-12T12:29:52Z

Cool and simple idea, I think you could make is really juicy with some very simple tricks, like adding screen shake, particles, small animations when the enemy receives damage, etc. With a little more polish, it has potential to become a great game !

RECoil by ThanielPIN 2020-10-06T16:17:33Z

Cool game ! The 4 color esthetic is very well done, everything is clear, and the gameplay is very well polished ! The only thing it lacks is a bit of explanation of the gameplay, I did not understand at first that the shadows of your previous loops actually interact with level elements. Was the game coded from scratch ? The build does not look like something done with an engine

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-06T08:39:54Z

Cool game, I like the monster design, I wish there was more kind of enemies !

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Discloser by agentparsec 2021-05-06T08:18:20Z

I really love that game, that's such an interesting take on the theme, and mockery of conspiracy theory is kind of a guilty pleasure for me. It is exactly the kind of game I would love to make, now I wonder why the theme did not inspire me that kind of concept ! Of course it is not perfect, it can become a bit repetitive at times but it works really well, and reducing the investigation to the link board is so clever ! Really good job.

Cave Jumper by ThatRumme 2021-04-28T20:51:21Z

I love it ! Just two recommandations : - add a leaderboard so i can show who's best (and spend hours on it, because i'm not good but I'm a tryhard) - allow to superjump after a jump. It is possible to jump after a superjump but not the opposite, which is quite frustrating, I often have the reflex to jump instead of superjump...

Other than that the game is really cool !

Deep & Deeper by warxen 2021-04-27T00:03:46Z

I really dig the art style ! The concept in itself is not new, but some mechanics really kept my attention, especially the idea of being able to compress or make the smaller one jump. I find that the level design is cool, but the levels could have more checkpoint or have a bit less steps, as it is easy to make a mistake. It is quite frustrating to fail at the last step because of inattention, when it is not the harderst part of the map, but you have to redo everything again. But it's only nitpicking, great job and great game !

Stellae Flere by bwalter 2021-04-29T15:40:24Z

Cool graphics ! The gameplay is really well made, I love the idea of needing to balance movement, weapons and shield, but in practice I think that it is really hard to predict when the enemy will hit you, as enemy bullets are very fast, so I never could use it to my advantage. But the game is still really fun to play !

Deepahead by KOHCEPBA 2021-05-11T10:34:59Z

That's such an interesting game ! I like a lot the esthetic, the scenes are really confusing but convey strong ideas at the same time, I'm not sure I understand everything but it seems to count a very sad story. The game is expressionist on purpose, and that works really well but maybe adding a bit of clue on what the order you put your pieces in is supposed to mean could help people experience the game a bit better. And the shattered images is really a great idea and well implemented, but I did not have time to really see what the image represents before it disappears. And some elements would need a bit clearer graphic representation, I sometimes did not even know what I was looking at (for example what is the yellow thing in the red bucket in the first screenshot ?). It is too bad, the intent is really brilliant, but a few details prevent players to understand the experience. And I think most of them would not be hard to fix.

Deep Down by dcrdro 2021-05-10T22:08:50Z

Wow that was strange, but fun ! I had trouble understanding at first that if I select an item and interact, it uses the item, but other than that the mechanics were on point. The animation gives so much to the weirdness and the atmosphere of the game, and the graphics are perfect ! I'm not sure I understood the story, but that was fun !

HELIUM by milieu 2021-05-06T09:22:49Z

I got quite confused by the controls of this game, maybe just displaying one button to click for each action would have made it easier. I did not really understand when to use coolant, I never lost because of that. The graphics are quite cool, it gives some atmosphere to the game.

Deep Sea Settler by blubberquark 2021-05-07T18:13:05Z

That's such a clever concept ! It's hard to understand the mechanics, but once you have them it's really a pleasure to play ! It becomes a kind of puzzle game randomly generated, I really like it ! The only thing that game lacks is a proper tutorial, but I can't really blame a game jam game for that ^^ Great work !

Deep Sea Settler by blubberquark 2021-05-07T18:14:28Z

Oh and I forgot : the under water wave effect is effective, but a bit too strong, I found it a bit disturbing at times.

Farm and Mine by general 2021-05-15T22:16:10Z

Fun idle game, it kept me playing for a while ! The progression works quite well, and that's the most important thing for idle games, so good job ! I think you could have skipped the first phase with vegetables to make everything turn around mining, maybe it would have made it fit a bit more with the theme. Currently the mining part feels a bit pointless because the resources you get with it cannot be sold.

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-05-06T13:50:46Z

I'm impressed, I expected a "Getting over it with Bennet Foddy" like game, but it is much more unique ! Given the amount of comments, everything seems to have been said about it, so i'll just say congratulation, it looks like a finished game !

Craft, Code, Burnout by gamescodedogs 2021-05-05T08:37:37Z

I've seen a lot of programming games in ludum dare (especially when the theme was "stuck in a loop") but I think it is the most interesting so far ! I love the mix with a crafting game, that is exactly the type of game I like to play (factorio <3...). You've reused code you already had before the jam, but that must have been quite a challenge to build this kind of game ! And adding the burnout mechanic was such a good idea ! I like when seemingly fun-only games start talking about deeper stuff, using the game mechanics themselves and not direct narration. So great job to the team !

If you have time, you might want to check my game, I also treated the subject of burnout/depression, with a totally different approach...

Words Words Words by RandyTayler 2021-04-27T21:53:12Z

That's a cool concept ! The item selection system makes moving objects very hard to select, but the riddles are well written and the last two are quite clever ! well done :)

Fallumns by Logan 2021-04-30T09:58:36Z

Yeah there is a frog fractions vibe here ! Definitely the most interesting entry I have seen so far, it managed to catch me off guard :)

Craftmine by Cal 2021-04-27T21:02:56Z

Nice game, and the small fx and animations are simple but work well together. Pretty good job !

Daive Dangerous by kpded 2021-05-11T16:53:00Z

I've seen a lot of submarine games during this jam, but this one is quite unique ! The ship orientation mechanic is really interesting and implemented really well, I love that taking damage has a real impact on the way you play, and that you can counteract that by deactivating the engines on the other side to restore balance. The repairing system is clever too, as you need to go outside to to you repair, which need oxygen, so the more you take damage, the more time you'll spend going everywhere in your ship. I think the turret is the main weak point of the gameplay, it feels like another minigame completely, that is not as fun as the rest, so I would just have removed it to focus the effort on the repair gameplay. But that's just my opinion. Great game overall, I had a lot of fun !

Edge of Space by Marc Grabow 2021-05-11T15:02:12Z

Simple yet cool game ! I like the little animation between levels, it is the kind of nice touch that really give polish to the game !

The controls work well, I noticed that your shots have a bit of recoil, it could have been interesting to tweak it a bit so that it does have an effect on your trajectory when you move.

Overall the game looks quite finished, maybe it would need a bit of balancing because difficulty ramps up really fast, but it is quite fun to play. Well done, that's a cool jam game :)

DRYVER by GuitarBro 2021-05-09T00:20:18Z

Well done ! The driving feels great, and the graphics coupled with the music give an amazing atmosphere to the game ! I really enjoyed driving trough the dunes ! Of course there are a few bugs, the controls are a bit wacky, especially for the camera, the physics of the car is wierd when you collide with obstacles, but the core experience is so well made that it is really secondary.

Ari's Potion Shop by jeroenpx 2021-04-27T22:03:44Z

The graphics are so cute ! The gameplay works really well, with some different cooking steps it could make an amazing crafting game !

Deeper Trance by dhim 2021-05-02T18:12:06Z

I really like autostereograms, so when I saw this game featured in a stream I had to try it ! I didn't know it also worked even with animations, it's good to know. It give such a sense of depth to the graphics ! The gameplay itself is very simple but it works pretty well, I think just increasing the speed over time to make the game harder and harder would help to keep the interest of players a bit longer.

Vertigo by GaryS 2021-05-05T12:10:49Z

It's cool to have some 2 player games in this jam, I have not seen a lot yet. The gameplay is pretty cool, and the graphics work really well. I think the attack could be improved, as its range is really small and it totally stops you when you use it. I think solving at least one of those problems would make the game far more enjoyable, and allow to make more advanced enemy ais without making the game too hard. Really cool entry overall !

Drilbert by wheybags 2021-04-28T20:47:22Z

That's a cool puzzle game ! It took me some time to understand the rules properly, but once I got it it was really fun to play :) The only thing I find a bit annoying is the fact that you have to constantly take dirt and put it behind you, it becomes tedious at times, but I guess that's enforced by the movement rules... That's a great entry overall :)

Stabalot by bw_devel 2021-05-03T15:53:39Z

Cool mechanic, even if the game becomes really hard very quickly ! The fact that it is the hole you are moving in the mini game makes the control a bit counter intuitive, maybe with a translate animation it would help people understand quicker what is happening. The art is really cool too, but I'm not sure it's how Voltaire and Rousseau looked when I learned about them at school. They are way more badass that way !

Leaky Faucet by Astavie 2021-05-18T22:24:28Z

I played that game too late to rate it, but all I can say is congrats ! That's a very unconventional yet fun game, well written. It is so fun to dig through the websites to find information about relationships between characters ! There are a lot of great jokes hidden everywhere, once you've understood what you have to do it's a joy to search everywhere.

Oh and thanks for the hint n°3, I think I would have given up without it.

Down the Machine World by Sempiternal 2021-05-10T23:01:50Z

Cool art ! The level design is well made, with a lot of variety. The gameplay works quite well too, but I think it could be made a bit more dynamic with a few simple changes : I would have put the dash on the right click, to make it more central to the gameplay, and I would have made the dash go in the direction you are moving, not the one you are pointing. I think it could make evasive maneuvers a bit easier. Well done, that's a pretty cool game you've made here !

Hellfall by Tom Robson 2021-04-29T16:02:52Z

Very cool game ! And it is to be noted, the difficulty is really well balanced, it's quite easy at the start, and the difficulty ramps up at the right pace until the end, where the real challenges are. I think the fall damage mechanic is a bit broken at times, but it's not a problem as you have a lot of HPs. Graphics are really well made too :)

Me:Tree! - New Roots by Groggi 2021-05-01T22:36:05Z

What a cool game :) During my brainstorm I had the idea of doing a game where you play a tree that has to grow its roots, i'm happy someone had that idea and pushed it that well. Some things are a bit confusing, especially the moment when you lose that tend to happen when I'm not careful with my gauges, but as there is no sign before that I were always caught off guard. But the ambience is there, I like the relaxing music that go perfectly with the graphics.

PS: On firefox I had the same problem as @woolchara, the drag action didn't work, and the framerate was relaly low. I switched to chrome and it worked well.

Hell Diver by MacDoom 2021-05-06T00:17:23Z

That is a simple game, yet everything is quite well made. Graphics are creepy but cool, the 3D effect works really well, the music that add instruments as you go deeper is really cool, and the gameplay itself is simple, but the inertia the character has makes the game really challenging. That's a great compo entry !

Cave Rider by Iker Díaz 2021-04-28T14:38:33Z

I agree with other comments, it's really beautiful, but way too hard ! The enemies are really fast, come two at a time and are sometimes barely visible... But great job on the atmosphere, and the screenshake on the shot is a nice touch :)

Below the Ocean by Ismael Rodriguez 2021-05-04T13:23:16Z

It's the first time I give a perfect score in this jam ! Everything feels incredibly polished, and the concept is really original. I love that kind of platformer a lot, and the rope mechanic is a very fun twist on the genre, that give birth to a lot of level design ideas. The only thing that I think could be improved is the size of the spikes, that does not seem adapted to the jump height, and make some jumps harder to do than necessary. I would have made them a little smaller.

Reminiscence by Curtis Pelissier 2021-05-05T10:24:19Z

The mood is really well set here, with both graphics and audio working amazingly ! I just wish the pace of the game was just a bit faster, the characters move very slowly and there is to do a lot of walking before reaching the places where there is gameplay.

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-04-30T10:31:50Z

You won compo last time, and I bet you'll also win this time ! It's doesn't look like a compo game, it's something you could put directly on steam... Really impressive !

Burnout Without Paradise by luvjungle 2021-05-06T15:36:33Z

Pretty cool concept, and well executed, especially the 3D graphics ! Talking about serious subjects is quite hard to do right, but I think you got it right ! I like the idea of having the cursor go slow and the colors that disappear when you are depressed, but I find the "depression meter" a bit strange , it reduces depression to a score, which I find that it lacks subtlety. I treated the same kind of subject in my game in a totally different way, it's cool to see the take of someone else on this subject :)

To the Core by Eric Smith 2021-04-28T20:57:05Z

Noooooo !firefox_AyU2NaKwyN.png

That's a fun game ! I never managed to get to the bottom, I keep getting out of fuel at around 3/4 of the way.But I like the concept and it's well executed ! Even there are a lot of mining games in this jam, you managed to find an original plot around it, so GG !

Deeper-Geddon by heidelbert 2021-04-29T09:10:46Z

pretty cool game ! You managed to give it a lot of polish, with a tutorial, a scenario, an intro and outro animation, ... The gameplay itself works pretty well, it is like a very simple version of factorio (which is my favourite game of all time) with graphics looking like Into the Breach. It's impressive you managed to do that in 72h :) I had some problems of sprites rendered in the wrong order at times, but nothing that could break the experience.

Power Station Beta by Dock Frankenstein 2021-05-18T18:44:11Z

This game is pretty well polished, with cool graphics, but I did not really have fun with this one, so I'll try to explain why, I believe argumented negative feedback is always a good way to progress. Keep in mind it is still my humble opinion, I don't claim to have the absolute truth ! Plus I was playing with a mouse pad, so maybe the lack of precision made the game harder than normal for me.

I think the game references too much similar games like portal or Cube, while having mechanics that don't really fit in the genre. The First Person view is not really fit for judging distances, so when the big orbs float in your direction it is quite hard to know where exactly they are. And you expect the player to do things like activating a block when the orb is at a certain distance, which need a lot of precision. The mechanics are also not really well explained in my opinion. I did the first levels without really understanding why the orbs became yellow, it took me until the level with the elevator to understand that blue orbs kill you, and the first few times they killed me while I was looking down to activate the elevator. The activation system is also a bit strange, especially the range at which you can activate things, that seems to be different for every object, or at least never the one I expected. I thought at first that the change of display of the triangle was a display bug, and it took me time to understand that it was a selection hint. The fall damage seems a bit inconsistent, maybe it is just caused by the level design that has ledges that don't feel high, but are exactly the height needed to kill you. But the main thing that I found frustrating is the fact that there are lots of places where you just have to die once to understand how to avoid the obstacle. For example, in a level you go up on an elevator, and an orb that could not be seen from the bottom kills you if you don't stop the elevator at the right time. It is an obstacle easy to avoid, but not the first time, so it is not really a challenge, it is just frustrating. I think it is the main problem of the mechanic : the orbs either die or kill you, so whenever you fail at anything you die and have to restart again.

Baby's First Concussion by Roolow 2021-05-16T21:24:05Z

Fun idea, and I'm wondering how you implemented it, it must have been quite a challenge for the compo ! I think the physics of the character could be improved to make the game more enjoyable to play, currently some jumps that should be easy are really frustrating to do. But other than that, cool concept !

MineSystem by TheGamerASD 2021-05-06T12:40:00Z

Idle games is a genre I hate but love at the same time. I can spend hours playing it, but it often feels like a waste of time... The fact that this one has a story is really cool to give a sense of progression without using the dirty mind tricks idle games usually abuse. I really like the fact that the thing that to finish the game you have to invest in something that does not produce resources, it forces you to think about where you want to invest. I found the ending a bit too long, nothing new happens between 1000m and the surface and things become so expensive that you don't have anything to do. Maybe just adding one last resource production element that appear at this moment would help things a bit. But that's just nitpicking, well done, that game is really cool !

20.000 LIGHT YEARS deep in THE SKY by Arivenzys 2021-04-28T14:48:07Z

Wow, the polish on this game is amazing ! Every transition has a small animation, the graphics are great, everything is narrated, the music fits the game really well... congratulation ! it looks like a finished game !

Deeper Rooms by KaJoseh 2021-05-07T13:45:44Z

A lot of work on the ambiance, but it's a bit short. Too bad, it was quite promissing !

Turn of the Tide by Polyethyleneglykol 2021-05-06T08:11:45Z

The concept is really cool, and you implemented so many things in this jam, but I think you overscoped a bit. Everything is there to make a cool RTS, but I think it lacks a bit of clarity. It is really easy to lose track of a unit, as the selection rectangle is really tiny when you zoom out, and the very beginning is a bit confusing, I did not see my unit at first. The gameplay is really interesting, but maybe the map is a bit too big with not much to do, and as you can add units anywhere you want, I just ended spawning people near places where I had something to destroy, and it worked ^^ It does not need a lot of changes to become a real pearl, the work you've done is amazing for a jam, so keep up the good work ! Try to simplify your concept so that it becomes more immediate !

STARPOON by RedSPINE 2021-04-26T18:26:19Z

It is cool that you took the time to put animations everywhere, it gives a lot of juice to the game ! It is quite fun to play, even if the range of the hook is a bit strange at the start : you barely can leave the first island, which made me believe I was stuck at first. And the hook points could get a slightly bigger hitbox, I kept missing them because the fx on them makes them look bigger than they really are.

Axel the Axolotl Saves the Day by Empty Set 2021-05-04T14:47:10Z

Very cool puzzles ! It took me some time to solve the one with the levers and colored doors. The platform gameplay is pretty good too, it feels quite tight, way better than most platforming games I've seen in this jam.

Archeo by zimny11 2021-05-06T20:24:58Z

Well done ! That's a fun game, and I think it's the first game I see that is about archeology, even though it looks like a logic take on the theme. Graphics are cool, gameplay is addictive, maybe the music is a bit repetitive at times.

Cthulhu's Deep Dream by retrome 2021-05-05T21:36:19Z

I love that cute cthulhu design ! The gameplay is nice and the platforming part is quite well made, but it feels a bit too much classic. I wish I had something more to add a bit of action in the game, maybe some other mechanics or maybe just a different physic setting that speed up the pace ? It feels a bit slow at the moment, and it is easy to lose track of where you have to go in some parts of the levels. But maybe it is just that I'm too much into hardcore platformers...

Go next in Hell by dfkgjndljf 2021-04-26T20:27:01Z

I have no clue on what's happening because I don't read russian, but the pixel art is really good ! Please translate it in English !

I am a DRILL and I'm DRILLING a hole by kadams 2021-05-04T07:55:19Z

Fun game, with a lot of content ! But I think there is a bug, half my games ended immediately because an enemy spawned right next to me, or shot me through a wall. But other than that the game is quite fun, and the graphics work really well !

Red Archer by BadPiggy 2021-05-07T14:49:02Z

Fun game ! Graphics are simple but work really well together, and I like the fast paced gameplay ! The main thing I see that could be improved is the physics of the arrows, that seem to be different when you are in bullet time mode, they are way faster, making the game way easier. After I discovered this mode I just spent all my time in bullet mode, because it is really hard to evaluate distance properly, and therefore hit long distance shots with slow arrows.

DEEPER by eboatwright 2021-05-12T08:53:17Z

Fun game, well polished, but I think there are many details that make it way harder to play than necessary. You have only 3 lives, there are no invincibility frames, the character falls really fast, if you want to slow down for a bit it costs you ammo, and you don't have a lot of it. Plus obstacles need multiple hits to be destroyed. At least in downwell you have a bit of control over the pace of the game, you can stop on a platform for a while. I think removing at least one of these difficulty would make the game way more enjoyable, because currently I cannot go further than a few screens down... It is too bad because the physics is really tight and the graphics are simple yet really well made, and it's exactly my kind of game so I want to play it !

Seven by Str8griz 2021-04-26T23:45:38Z

Cool investigation game ! The way the dialogue system works is pretty interesting ! I personnally wouldn't have used a top view for that game, I would have used the drawings of the characters you have in the splash screen to make the whole game : you click on a character to start a dialogue, and you have a second screen to talk to ghosts. It would have prevented the back and forth you have to do all the time.

Deep Mind by JRevel 2021-04-26T23:58:00Z

Thanks for your feedback ! @wunarg @hotpaw @fdk ! After seing a streamer play the game, I discovered that there were some bugs that must have made you skip some parts of the game, and made the black cards not as effective as they were supposed to, which really had an impact on the experience. I have solved them now, you may want to try it :)

Deep Mind by JRevel 2021-05-03T13:09:32Z

Thank you for your feedback everyone ! I'm happy you liked the game ! @lokt02 @andrewkennedy sorry for the font size, it is fine for big screens but it does not scale well at all for laptop or smaller ones... And I did not have time to add a zooming system... @bytinggames The mask cards are supposed to be stressful, but I originally wanted them to appear once the player had already seen most of the game. But I ended putting them way before, because people tended to stop playing before finding them.

@CrispyBun It is true that cards disappear too fast for new players, but they also don't disappear fast enough to have an impact once the player masters the mechanics. As @Danial suggested, I think I should have got rid of the real time system to make the time to elapse whenever the player does an action. That would give time to read everything without stressing the player.

@Sheepolution @MikoziQ I think I took a lot of risk with this concept, as the fact that there is no end is part of the idea. Everything is supposed to have negative output, because the real theme of the game is about falling into depression. Black cards are dark thoughts, that make your otherwise simple routine harder and harder to keep. They become more and more incapacitating as they stack, preventing you to make even the simplest action. You fall deeper and deeper in depression, until there is nothing else to do than quit the game (which in itself is a metaphor). So a part of the frustration is here on purpose. It would have needed a lot more content to make it more clear to the player, so I understand many people missed it. But i'm really happy of how it turned out :)

Deep Mind by JRevel 2021-05-05T19:46:26Z

Deep Mind by JRevel 2021-05-09T09:53:41Z

@ismael-rodriguez Thank you for your comment ! Yes the money that keeps coming is a bug, it's a copy of the event you get when you go back from work, but I forgot to remove the money gain... And yes everything is random, there is a pool of events for work, another for when you are at home, and a few that trigger in specific conditions, like when you get fired. I wanted to add so much more, but fell short on time, the config of those events is quite complex and I spent a lot of time chasing bugs at the end of the compo... About the lack of control, it is also something that was possible to improve, but I did not have time to do it well : I wanted most event to yield a differect result depending on the type of card you give it. Going to work with motivation gives you contentment and some more work actions to do, because you start working earlier. For the absence of goal, and the sad card that can't be discarded, that is part of the point, I wanted a game where you get in a vicious circle of depression that does not end... Until you quit the game... But I agree this is too subtle for a jam game that has not enough content to really get the player into the story.

MilCo. by MikoziQ 2021-05-02T12:21:13Z

Funny one ! I also got the cow mountain ! firefox_dpxeF3kVwc.png

Third Party by Duckonaut 2021-05-10T14:22:03Z

That's quite an army you had to make this game, and that's a great game you made :) The mechanic is really interesting and well executed, the charadesign is really cool and he pixel art is gorgeous. Music is really helping to create the ambience ! The level design is quite clever, at least for the first levels, that teach the mechanics quite well. But I think the last levels are a bit too open to really match the mechanics of the game, I often felt like I almost cheated because I ran directly to the elevator without seing the rest of the level. Please add the possibility to throw corpses on enemies, to stun them for a small amount of time, that would be so fun !

METADATA by SnowInfinity 2021-05-18T15:05:32Z

Hey that's a cool game ! you deserve more ratings ! I like a lot the boss design, the only thing I think could be improved is the inertia of the character, that is non existent most of the time, and is way too strong when you get pushed. It makes the boss way more unfair that it needs to. And maybe the boss could benefit from some more platforms or level features, because currently the best strategy I have found is to stay all the time in the middle, only dodge what is necessary and jump when the bumper is under. Just adding something that make the rest of the screen useful would make the boss even more fun. Good job overall, the graphics are cool, the scenario is fun, and the sound is well polished.

PANEMUAN by etrealjunior 2021-05-10T23:48:18Z

It is such a great experience, though I have a problem, I don't know how to rate it, I can't say it's fun nor especially beautiful, the graphics work really well with the ambience and the story, but are quite simple, there is no humor, and you opted out the audio category. But I loved it, so it will make a strange rating, 5 in overall, 5 in mood, but quite low ratings in other categories. However I think these kind of games are not quantifiable in terms of rating, so i can only say congrats, that's one of the games I will remember after the jam. And if I may, it kind of reminded me of one of the greatest experience I had with a game, with the beginners guide, by Davey Wreden. Play it if you haven't, it's a perl, and it talks about creativity and game dev.

Crust by exopunk 2021-04-27T08:41:45Z

That is a cool concept, really well executed ! The art is really good, and gives a great ambience to the game, and the gameplay works well, and the level design fits it really well. The only thing I think could be improved is the physics of the ship during a grapple. Your thrusters are supposed to be more effective, but most of the time they feel a bit too effective to be controlled properly, and sometimes they just don't work. But I did the game without relying on that, so that's not really problematic.

Fetch Ball! by koalatte 2021-05-04T09:08:25Z

That is a simple game, yet I don't think I ever saw anything similar, and it looks quite polished. Well done ! If it's your first gamejam, then that's a brilliant first one !

Goose Root by jryzkns 2021-05-05T18:04:42Z

Everything is cute in this game ! And it is very educational too, I always wondered in which kind of tree goose grew, and now I know ! Relaxing gameplay, cute graphics, with some ecological message, everything is good in this game ! Except maybe the fact that the ending triggers really late, I almost stopped a bit before it, thinking it would never come. If you had not mentionned it in the game description, I would never have found it.

Deep Below Ground by v0idpointer 2021-04-30T08:24:17Z

Well done, doing such a game from scratch must have been quite a challenge ! I like it a lot, you managed to put a lot of content, with such fun descriptions... Of course the gameplay could be improved a bit, I never felt really challenged because the ennemies are not really aggressive and the spells are really powerful, but the fact that you add new spells from time to time manage to keep my interest. Great entry overall !

Deep Jumper by RadzioGadzioPL 2021-05-05T00:57:42Z

Cool game, a bit hard, but quite well made ! Here are a few ideas that came to my mind that could make it a bit less frustrating for new players : - I'm not sure the double jump is useful, it made jumps harder to make than necessary, as the camera movement tends to make the flashlight point in the wrong direction. Every time I had to do a double jump, I had to stop relying on the flashlight. But of course, not having double jump would need to rethink the level design... - The first few jumps already need the player to master all the mechanics (flashlight, double jump, detect traps), maybe adding a bit of "tutorial" level, introducing mechanics one by one, would help the player. - I don't find it useful to make the basic flashlight consume battery. You cannot see anything when the battery is empty, so you are basically stuck until it recharges. I would have put the battery only for the trap detector.

Subterplane by Bigbadbison 2021-04-29T16:15:00Z

Wow I like a lot the physics, it feels really hard to control at first, but after a few tries it becomes really enjoyable, it's a really thin balance between control and difficulty that I think you nailed pretty well. Really good job !

Go to the Abyss by Felipe Felix 2021-05-07T08:29:23Z

The pixel art is really cool, especially the character. The levels are beautiful too except maybe the second one that is a bit under in terms of esthetic. Maybe it needs a few variations of blocks to break the repetitiveness.

The platforming gameplay is fine, the player controls work well but there seems to be some inaccuracy with collisions at times, maybe hitboxes are a bit too big sometimes. Overall that's a pretty cool jam game ! you can be proud of what you made :)

Dive & Dig by andrewkennedy 2021-04-29T20:45:35Z

Pretty cool ! The idea of having two gameplays on two screens is quite original, I've seen a lot of diving games and drilling games, but never both at once ! I just wish there was one more mechanic to the game that would give it a bit more challenge, I just felt like I could keep going for ever, I got to 2200 and I died only because I unfocused the game to rate it ^^ With special obstacles, or collectables, it would make a great game, the controls work really well and I like the graphics a lot !

The Avaricious Deep by nigeynige 2021-05-10T22:43:17Z

Fun little game ! It lacks a bit of depth, i'm not sure there is a more efficient strategy than spamming units everywhere, but that was quite fun to play ! Well done it must have been a challenge to implement rts gameplay for a jam !

The Depths by Hydrogen8 2021-05-18T15:13:23Z

That's a great first entry, well done ! everything feels quite polished, with some more level design features it could become a commercial game ! The music is fun, graphics are cute, and there is a cool retro vibe that work really well overall. Here are the things I would change to make the game even more fun : - adding more ways to score would be good, currently my best score is under 10, it does not really push you to replay more than once or twice. - adding some variety on enemies could make the game a bit more challenging, currently I did not feel a lot in danger. But that's only nitpicking, great job overall !

Mine - 0.3K by fy0 2021-05-05T17:08:06Z

That's fun ! Add some animations to the characters and it will be perfect ! Btw I'm not sure adding an ending is really useful in this game, I got it when I did not expect it, but I would have played a little longer if it had not appeared.

MION FOREVER by JoshTheStriker 2021-05-11T12:22:57Z

Interesting gameplay ! I like the idea of having to push the projectile on the enemies, but the game is currently a bit too hard, the enemies are way too fast for the dash to be useful, I get hit before I have time to react so all I could to is hide in a corner and hope nothing will come to hit me. And the direction you push the ball feels quite unprecise sometimes. I think just slowing everything down would help players to appreciate the experience. Other than that, charadesign is really cool, and the FX work really well :)

Worry by CrispyBun 2021-05-02T12:48:59Z

That's dark ! simple gameplay, yet very effective to set the mood :)

Last Star Legionnaire by Pirate-Rob 2021-05-11T13:40:12Z

Wow that was ambitious, I'm impressed, that's a lot of different gameplays in a single game, well done ! The art is great, the game plays well, even if it is currently a bit too hard for me. I loved the fact that you can board the ship to take control of it, even if there is actually no real point of doing that, my ship was always better than the others. It is also a bit merciless, one mistake and you die... But it's a compo game so all I can say is amazing job !

Surface by lb01 2021-05-10T13:35:44Z

Wow that combat music is so cool ! The controls of the ship work really well too, as well as the graphics that are simple yet done with great taste ! The only thing I think it lacks is that it felt that there was nothing interesting to do, shooting asteroids is not that fun, and enemies are quite easy to kill. And during the gameplay, it is not that obvious that what you have to do is shoot asteroids, maybe a bit more feedback on that would have helped. But that's a great compo entry, well done !

Mind Hunter by Hotpaw 2021-05-04T09:38:32Z

Wow that's so interesting ! I haven't found the solution yet, I'll come back when I have time to finish it ! The concept is quite new, and the graphics work really well with the sound to convey the ambiance. That's amazing job !

[HTML5] Bodenhorizont by minotalen 2021-05-11T10:03:25Z

The term frustrazen defines perfectly this game ! I got a bit frustrated when I saw I had almost no control on the roots, but once I understod it was exactly the point, and that the yellow elements allowed to counterbalance a bit the rng, the game became quite fun and relaxing. Well done !

Kinda Deep by sagylel 2021-05-07T11:09:42Z

Wow that is really fun ! But incredibly hard, the lava is really fast, I can never take time to collect things. Some enemies are tiny, but hit as hard as the big ones, I often die without even noticing them. As I have to rush, I never collected enough mushrooms to buy anything in the shop. It is too bad, there is a big potential for fun here ! That is totally my kind of game. For the controls during the drill, I think it is a bit strange that you have to keep down pressed even when you are going up, I would prefer to just use directional keys to give the direction where I want to go, and the drill stops when I stop pressing it. Or maybe point the direction with my cursor ? It would give a lot more precision to the drilling.

And congrats for the amazing pixel art !

Potion Commotion by Frozendoze 2021-10-05T18:34:01Z

Really fun game ! I saw it on CinderBlocks stream and instantaneously wanted to try speedrunning it ! My PB is currently 4:10, and I'm sure I can keep improving it ! https://puu.sh/IgeU6/5b86905a56.png

The level design is really good at teaching mechanics, and the difficulty curve is pretty good, except for two levels that I find a bit frustrating : the one just before the portals, in which I took a lot of time to find a consistent way to get to the top, that I still feel clunky, and the one where you have to catch an orb while jumping between two portals, because with the way it is calibrated, you need to rely on aerial control, which is not really fun as you have really poor control in the air. Other than that, it's pure fun !

Potion Commotion by Frozendoze 2021-10-22T08:28:13Z

Great job, I just fell in love with this game... I hoped it would score a bit better but the ratings seem actually fair. I have tried to speedrun it for the last weeks, and I found a few cool tricks, here's my personal best, just below 2min ! And there are still a few mistakes, I'm sure it is still possible to improve it by 10 seconds or so... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vfL7phvfWQ

nooo I could not get in the leadearboard podium ;( But it was fun to try and improve my score, this game is fairly simple but really addictive ! Well done !

I Can Fly by pndaa 2022-04-10T15:39:08Z

Fun gameplay ! The only thing I found a bit annoying is that there is no way to tell until it's too late wether or not you are at the right side of the tower to land. But the voice acting is great and make the game really funny !

Wigglesmith by Kukiol 2022-04-13T22:17:12Z

Wow that's unique, I love it ! It a very good balance between wonky physics and gameplay that can actually be mastered, well done ! And the graphics are really cool, 1bit is hard and you nailed it !

CABBAGE DEFENSE by frozenfire92 2022-04-10T17:25:02Z

That's a really cool minimalistic tower defense game, with cute graphics and good gameplay ! The only thing I think it lacks to make it fun to play for longer sessions is upgrade, but the base is here to make something great !

Snooze by LancesCaterpie 2022-04-12T23:24:38Z

I've seen a lot of games about not falling asleep or not waking up in this jam, but this one is by far the funniest ! Really fun idea and great execution, the physics is really fun ! The attack mechanic lacks a bit of precision, which makes large levels really hard, but it's still really fun to play

Pass The Torch by Dan Smith 2022-04-07T20:29:14Z

The gameplay is a bit lacking, but I felt it's a part of the experience, the fact that you have almost no option other than walking gives a feeling of powerlessness that matches perfectly the mood of the game. It's not really pleasant and maybe a bit long sometimes, but really interesting nonetheless. And the graphics are amazing.

Under Siege by lcrabbit 2022-04-07T22:10:26Z

That's a very cool minimalistic strategy game ! the little animations everywhere are really neat, it makes it really alive ! The gameplay is pretty interesting, but I think there is a conflict betweeen the minimalism of the interface and the fact that the units and resources are always in large numbers. There are a lot of numbers to track and that keep moving really fast, and there is little to no feedback on things that are actually important, like what is the strength of the enemy compared to yours. In my runs it felt like everything was ok, until at some point the enemy became almost invincible from my point of view. Maybe seing their strength increase would help ? Another problem I had is that I never understood how long the units I trained took to appear once I ordered them. And as one needs them in large quantities, there is to spam the training button, which is not the most fun mechanic. I would have liked to have a system where I could choose that I want something like 25% warriors, 40% archers and the rest to farmers, and let the game queue the training automatically. It could allow the player to spend less time clicking and more time doing strategy. Of course, for a jam game it's already really good, I had enough fun to retry it a few times, and get a good place in the leaderboard ! I got 5415 :) I saw somewhere that you plan to keep working on it, I wish you the best !

Stopping Karen by Fis 2022-04-15T13:40:29Z

I like a lot this concept, it's a very interesting idea that goes really well with the theme ! The art is really cute, but the fact that some high buildings are displayed over the road make the last big level a bit messier than it could be. Well done, that's a pretty solid entry !

I hate angry spiders! by Logic 2022-04-10T14:54:15Z

Wow that's a lot of steps to finally kill a spider ! Funny one ! You managed to do a lot with minimalist controls, and everything is clear even though there are a lot of interactions to do, every one is pretty intuitive so I never struggled. Cool stuff !

Highrail to hell by BadPiggy 2022-04-05T09:55:12Z

I recognised your art style at first sight ! It's great as always :) Cool tight action gameplay, pretty hard but fun to play after a bit of trial and error. I like the kicking mechanic that makes killing enemies optional.

DOWN the DUNGEON by renrok 2022-04-07T00:32:47Z

Wow I really like this twist, fighting to stay on the level longer and level up makes a very interesting progression, really original. And the execution is on point at all levels. Amazing !

Don't Melt by jogy34 2022-04-07T00:17:56Z

I like the idea ! I found it quite hard, but I think it is mostly because of the inverted camera that I never managed to adapt to. The level design is pretty cool, it is pretty good at teaching you the mechanics one step at a time, so I did not feel lost. Good job !

Column by Notinatal 2022-04-16T11:35:37Z

Really clever concept, with metaphors all around, and great puzzle design ! That's a very interesting game with a deep message, really well done ! The only thing I think could be improved it the visual communication of gameplay elements : it is a bit confusing at first to understand what the player can walk on and can push, and what the different blocks do. It's always really hard to do, especially in a short schedule, but it is better to find some visual rules that inform the player about gameplay. For example the white and yellow coins have totally different properties, I don't think they should be so close visually. I know that some games try to give the same kind of block-like shape to everything that can be pushed, and show that things that can be stepped on are just writings on the ground. It might be a good start. Anyway it's really good stuff, it deserves a full post-jam version !

Super Mowser Bros by Guilloteam 2022-04-13T12:40:14Z

@corrupt-spaghetti Thank you for your feedback, we are currently trying some things to improve the balancing, a new version should be ready at the end of the week ! We'll notify everyone when it's ready, we'll need feedback on that :)

Super Mowser Bros by Guilloteam 2022-04-19T14:12:39Z

@haayaargh Thank you for the feedback, we're so happy you liked the game ! I'm the developper of the team, so I can say it : yes the art team did an amazing job ! You are absolutely right with the drag&drop, it felt like a good idea at first, but it is really annoying when all your actions are done with drag&drop. We have plans to remove it totally.

I agree that the tutorial, despite being too long, does not provide crucial information, like units strength. I think we will need to make a proper step by step tutorial, now that we are not in a short schedule. For your information, koopas are strong builders, and spiky shells good at defense. But the outcome of every fight is random, so any unit can both stall bario for a long time or get destroyed at the first encounter. But three spikies still have a lot of chance to kill bario at least once.

Feel free to give us any suggestion that would make the relation to the theme more obvious to you, we need all the feedback we can collect as we want to improve the game in the future !

Oh and if you liked the humor, you might be interested by the games we did for other jams, especially Long Leash that has a similar cardboard esthetic and where you play a happy dog that must do his walk to the park, except there is an old lady on the other side of the leash, and you don't want to hurt her too much in the process... The games are listed in the Guilloteam itch.io page ! https://guilloteam.itch.io/

Sapper Master by yusovv 2022-04-06T23:22:19Z

Billy you must run! by quackBehavior 2022-04-05T23:10:13Z

The story is so funny, this is a very original take on the theme, well done ! I love how the characters faces are extremely expressive in the intro, it's too bad the faces are not drawn on ingame characters, it could make graphics more cohesive overall and funnier. The concept reminds me so much of Frozen Synapse, that I loved but found a bit too hard. Here the difficulty is quite well tuned, with some situations that are really tricky but never unsolvable. That's quite an achievement to do something so ambitious in a jam, you can be proud !

Great Escape by Martinek 2022-04-05T14:40:09Z

oh god, this is a very accurate real life simulation ! The socks are really cute and the gameplay is simple yet very effective. And it's such a refreshing interpretation of the theme. Well done !

Protocol Delta by itsBoats 2022-04-06T20:09:17Z

Woohoo I got the record :v: firefox_2022-04-06_22-06-13.png Really cool game, its depth unravels when you try to master it ! There are some bugs with the dash, that does not do damage when you are already touching the enemy you want to hit, but other than that it's really cool ! Oh someone already did 10 minutes ? I still have training to do :3

Sweet Bedtime O' Mine by K4M1 2022-04-14T14:32:45Z

Very cute art style and concept ! The gameplay is a bit rough around the edges, but it is still quite fun to play. I think it would be a bit better as a twin stick shooter, because using arrow keys both for moving and aiming is quite hard to do. Oh and you might try to reduce a bit the chromatic aberration, it is a bit too strong, the health bar is barely readable currently.

Choboro by DaivyIsHere 2022-04-19T23:31:54Z

Hey ! Really cool game, I have quite the nostalgia for the classic windows pinball game, and you added cute graphics to it so this game was definitely made for me !

The physics is really good, the bumper feedback is pretty satisfying, well done on that ! The only physics part that did not feel great is the flippers themselves, which do not give the player a lot of control on the trajectory of the ball. But I think it is mostly because they are quite small, and that the gap between them is fluctuating, which prevents the player to get confortable with the physics imo.

Another small thing that might help make the game more fun is the bumper placement. Currently it feels a bit like the first bumpers are blocking most of the way, preventing the player to try interesting trick shots. The main thing you can aim to score a lot of points is to take the right path that leads to the top, but it is not as interesting as making a good bounce on a wall to reach a high place where it's possible to make big combos.

Maybe you could also try to increase the size of all the bumpers, as it's easier to foresee bounce trajectories on big colliders, and maybe would prevent very big combos that sometimes randomly happen.

I find the jump-with-mouse mechanic pretty interesting, but maybe it needs kind of nerf, maybe by adding a cooldown, it is possible to do infinite combo by spamming it. Of course it is not totally broken as you still need to handle the white guy, but it is still too effective and not really fun to pull off. And the level design might use it a bit more, for example by putting entrances of paths at places really hard to reach without it. It could become some kind of move that allows you to fix a mistake or reach otherwise impossible places, but need a lot of precision to work.

And the concept of Boro is really good, but the combination with the other mechanics does not work really well currently. The compulsory slowmo effect is really cool but becomes annoying as it forces you to do jumps when you don't really want to do it. It should at least be triggered by the player, maybe if you click at a moment when the two guys are close enough to each other (you would need a feedback on that), a bit like the dash through enemies mechanic in Ori and the Blind Forest.

It makes me think that you could turn the jump mechanic into a system similar to what's in ori, where you can use it only on specific elements, it could allow you to put moving elements in your level, which allow this free dash and change of direction. I think it could add a lot of depth to the game !

I hope that helps, congrats for this cool game and tell me if you release another version in the future !

Arrow's Theorem by Guy Girmonsky 2022-04-07T16:05:45Z

What a great idea ! I would never have thought one day I'd see a fun game about voting systems, but you actually did it ! And you found a very clever way to make it understandable and playful. I love it !

Volcanic Dash by tested 2022-04-10T15:19:08Z

For a first jam, that's a great entry ! You can be proud of what you've done in 48h hours, the physics have flaws, as others stated, but everything works and you avoided a lot of level and game design traps a lot of beginners do, which make the game quite fun to play, so well done !

Mr. Second by Marvis 2022-04-12T22:55:37Z

This game is really cool ! Neat graphics and pretty good polish ! There are a few things that prevented me to enjoy it to its full potential though. I'll put them all in no specific order so I don't forget anything. It might make a big list of critiques, but most of those can't be expected for jam games made in a single weekend, it's just possible improvements. - the character has a lot of inertia, which makes some jumps really to do. It's not necessarily a big deal, but the level design must take that into account, because the physics makes a lot of precise jumps hard to do. I'm thinking specifically of the saw at the right of level 3, that leaves only a tiny portion of the platform accessible. It forces the player to jump, and control very precisely his horizontal speed to land on the right spot, which is made really hard by the inertia. - It's sometimes hard to differentiate background elements and things that kill you. It's especially true to cogs that look like the saws that kill you. - hitboxes are quite big, making some small obstacles like the spikes really deadly. - The swap mechanic has no delay, so if it happens while you are moving, you can run into a hole even before the camera has had time to catch up. I got killed by this many times. - I don't know if there is a solution for this one, but I often found myself waiting for whole cycles because I hesitated too much before doing a jump. There was some kind of conflict between the urge of moving fast to not have to waste cycles, and the need to wait for the perfect time to do the jumps. Gameplay conflicts can be interesting, but there it felt a bit frustrating at times. - robotic arms are really fast, which made jumps really hard to time. It felt a bit random sometimes, I often ended up jumping as soon as I could and hope for the best.

I hope this will help, I think this game has potential, tell me if you update it at some point !

Shadow Rush by Brandsma 2022-04-07T09:49:18Z

I like this kind of racing game in which you need some time to control the physics, it's so satifying to finally do a lap without crashing on an obstacle ! The ghost mechanic was an interesting take on the theme, but the fact that it one shot you is a bit harsh imo. I really sucked at avoiding them. Maybe it could be interesting to slow the player down instead, and make the time to complete the laps a defeat condition ? You still have the same time to cross the finish line, but it gets harder and harder as you add ghosts.

Magma Climb by Aldebaram 2022-04-13T12:11:40Z

That's a fairly simple game, but the physics is really on point, which makes it quite fun to play ! The procedural generation is really neat, even if sometimes it produces obstacles that don't seem to be possible to cross without taking damage. And the arrows that fall from the top of the screen might need some indication before appearing, because currently you have no time between the moment it is visible and the moment it hits you. Apart from those two points, this game is quite fun ! It is overall a pretty good entry, well done !

JAM HERO by ludovic-moge 2022-04-06T14:01:03Z

The idea is really cool ! But why would anyone need to sleep during a jam ? That's not realistic at all !

Jokes aside, it's a pretty solid management game, with cool graphics and nice gameplay. I love the fact that you drag & drop characters to make them move. There are a few details that were a bit annoying though, like the fact that some ui often go out of the screen, and that the UI displayed in yellow is almost unreadable due to the glow. But nothing that would prevent me having a good time with the game !

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Ten Sec Dread by davision 2022-10-13T12:28:55Z

Very cool graphics, and an interesting destruction mechanic ! The heart is just gorgeous (in a disgusting way xD) On the gameplay side, I think it is fun, but it could be improved with a few things : - I found the controls a bit strange, I think the control scheme could be simplified (why grabbing with RMB and throwing with LMB ? One button would be enough). I know it would require to change a lot the gameplay and ask a lot of new design questions, but maybe using the mouse is not really necessary ? - It is very hard to predict where the projectile will land when you throw it, and the throw distance is a bit low in my opinion, which does not incentive the player to try skillshots. I ended up throwing pumpkins directly to the ground, because it's the only way I managed to be precise with it. - The knockback on explosions is a bit too strong at times, and feels a bit random. I once had to wait for ten seconds waiting for the skeleton to get back on the ground. - The clock arrow is hard to cross, mostly because the platforming physics feel a bit unreliable. It is great to indicate the time before the next explosion, but as an obstacle it is a bit too big. - The combo system is cool, but currently it feels like you have not a lot of control over it. Pumpkins align only when the game decides so. I wish I could stack them up before exploding them all at once, it would feel pretty satisfying.

I hope this feedback helped, keep up the good work and see you next LD !

Ten Sec Dread by davision 2022-10-13T14:48:19Z

@davision Oh I didn't notice that the distance of the mouse changed the strength of the throw, maybe that's why I couldn't predict trajectories properly ! So I thing that is the key thing to change : find a way to give feedback on that feature, or find another way to change the throw strength (the easiest thing I see right now is to do something similar to Worms, where the longer you keep your button pressed, the stronger the throw.

For the keybinding, I think what bothered me was the fact that the first action I had to do was right click to interact with an item, which is unusual, so it does not feel natural for me. I tried left click, e, shift, and then came back to the control instructions. A big part of UX is using the same rules as other games so the player does not feel lost, and there I think it can be considered as standard to use e or left click to interact with an object.

TENSEC tactics by praleks 2022-10-05T08:44:08Z

Cool game ! I think it has potential, it is already pretty fun, and it could become really cool by giving a bit more options to the player ! I think currently having only one card every 10 seconds is a bit limiting. Well done !

BARRAGE by egawag 2022-10-11T12:17:07Z

I love this kind of fast management games ! And the execution is flawless ! I like how everything in the game is minimalistic yet really well polished. Great job !

[X-ED OUT] by Nash 2022-10-05T15:54:05Z

Really fun ! I like a lot the idea of having limited time to grab coins, it adds a depth of strategy to the game. Well done !

Tenfold Rim Mining by PurpledArtFrog 2022-10-14T16:21:03Z

Cool game, a bit confusing at first but quite fun to play ! I think there is a lot of information to understand at first and it might require a proper tutorial to show the features one by one. But it's really hard to do a good tutorial for management games, especially during a jam, I also tried to do that kind of game during a previous ludum dare and it also suffered a similar problem... I've tried the post jam version and it's way better, here are the things I think still could be improved : - I think you might simplify some rules : I'm not sure having 3 resource types is necessary for your game, as I actually collected everything I could, I didn't feel there was strategy needed for resource collection. - Resource collection might be automated a bit more. It feels a bit tedious to have to crack asteroids one by one, and then clicking them again to collect their resource - Walls don't really feel like they are useful, it is not really clear how they work and they take space that I feel would be better with damage dealing towers. - It took me time to understand where the resources are displayed in the UI, and it's at the opposite side of the screen from the place of the building panel, so I constantly had to look up and down to know if I had enough resource to buy what I wanted. I hope the feedback will be useful, keep up the good work !

KAIROS, Battle for Seconds by Paul Giovannini 2022-10-13T13:13:35Z

The concept is really good, and the execution is flawless ! It's a really interesting mechanic for a roguelike, and a lot of small ideas, like the fact that a buff always go with a debuff, are really interesting. Plus the graphics are really on point, and there seems to be an interesting and dense universe around it. Great job ! The only thing negative I could point is the fact that one second for every step of the wheel is not enough to make the game strategic, you just pile up effect and pray for the best. But there's so many in this jam that have a problem with time management, I think it's the theme that is too restrictive...

10 Snekonds by YogurtTheHorse 2022-10-04T16:21:50Z

The game is really interesting, but it seems that the dash is not always registered, leading to defeats when I try to attack the weakpoints. That was a bit frustrating, but I really find the concept and the take on the theme interesting, so I might play the post jam version if one appears !

Panopticon by Blue Pin Studio 2022-10-12T09:54:22Z

The concept is pretty cool, the art even though it's simple works really well. But I think it's way more frustrating that it could be, because of a combination of multiple things : - There is no feedback to indicate that the eye will open - The attack from the eye is absolutely unforgiving : the character hurtbox is huge and if any pixel get near you, it's game over - Some particle seem to cross walls sometimes, causing unavoidable deaths - The limited ammo mechanic combined with the fact that traces disappear over time make that you can never see properly where covers are

All those points made the game way too hard, it felt to me that the only viable strategy was to run to try and find the exit as soon as possible, and hope that a wall will block enough attacks to protect me. But I still liked the game, it has potential !

Home R.I.P.airs by JoyKangpae 2022-10-07T20:05:38Z

cool idea, with pretty good graphics ! I think it has a solid base that you could expand in the future, but I found that a few things could be changed to increase drastically the fun the game provides : - having to spam a button to repair things is not really fun, I would like to be able to let the key pressed and wait for a bit - it is not clear that the ghost slows you down, making it a bit more drastic would help the player that did not read carefully instructions (I'm guilty of that, sorry, but I know I'm not the only one) - It's too bad that the salt is usable only on one door, I would have liked to use it a bit more. - The sound is a bit annoying, especially the one from the TV. It's mostly a problem of mix I think. - Generally, the game lack a bit of feedback. The rule is : whenever you interact with something, there should be a feedback, with a sound and a visual cue, wether it's a particle effect, a change of color on one of the object, etc. From my experience I can tell that there is never enough feedback, and it's what make the game concept shine.

Count Down Dracula by Guilloteam 2022-10-21T09:39:12Z

Bygone Melodies by Save Sloth Studios 2022-10-04T16:51:02Z

That was great ! The rhythm gameplay is well made, and the charming story makes it really shine ! The art style is cute as hell, and using the body of the character as and indication for the notes to play is really clever !

I found the first song harder than the rest, I think it is actually harder to be precise at slow tempos.

Burger Rush by defilerzero 2022-10-07T20:51:12Z

It's not a cooking game, it's a typing game ! Really interesting concept, with a great execution. I find interesting how ingredients appear one after the other, but not always in the same order. The only thing I think could be improved is the feedback when a new ingredient appears. That was really fun to play, I tried it a few time and got to $92 ! I like how frantic it becomes after some time.

Into the Color Dementia by Phantom49 2022-10-07T17:18:18Z

I'm not sure I understand what to do... There seems to be many mechanics implemented, but it seems that something is missing to make them work together. I suppose you didn't manage to finish it on time ?

Speed Dating for Misfits by itsBoats 2022-10-07T22:17:19Z

Fun game and great writing ! The only thing I found a bit annoying is the timer, that needed to follow the theme I guess, but was way too fast to let me read properly. So when I discovered it was possible to pause it, I used it quite a lot, which maybe made the game too easy (I matched with almost everyone), but at least let me enjoy the dialogues properly. Well done, it's quite different from what you usually do but it's still great !

Life Passes You By by Cosmonautical 2022-10-05T12:53:04Z

It's quite a moving experience ! I love the concept, it creates a lot of emotion without telling an especially sad story, it's really well made ! However I found it really hard to keep up the pace, I sometimes didn't even have the time to read the description of events. I also think it lacked a bit of feedback to show your choice has been taken into account, currently the "do nothing" timer keeps going down even when an option has been selected. It's not really a big deal, but it does not help getting in the mood the game tries to convey.

The book of time magic by Senso 2022-10-10T16:32:59Z

This is a good use of the theme ! I like how the 10 seconds theme imposes a pace that is slow enough to allow puzzle game mechanics to work with a gameplay that is more action based. I would have liked the mechanics to be a bit better explained, because I did not understand anything before I watched the comment section and discovered that the colored rectangled could be drag&dropped. It should either be explained in a tutorial or there should be feedback on hover, to show that they are interactable. Other than that, cool game, I liked it !

10-Second Magic Artist by vivyhasadream 2022-10-05T10:39:50Z

The concept is really clever ! There is a debate about wether ai should be allowed to create assets for games in jams, but this use is so creative and should not raise any debate. Well done ! The only thing I found a bit annoying with this game is that 10 seconds is not a lot to draw anything, and it takes a while to understand what drawing tools you have at your disposal, so I did'nt see instructions changing at first. Maybe making it glow or change in size at the end of the 10 seconds would help make them noticable.

Unfortunately, I can't run the game on my PC, it starts playing a sound, and then crashes before displaying anything. I will try to run it on another machine tomorrow. I can give you more info on my pc if you think it can help

Spooky Glitch by nicorm 2022-10-04T16:49:57Z

Cool game, with a lot of content ! I always find it tricky to do minigame compilations for jams, because it splits the work into a lot of different tasks, so you can't give the same polish to everything. I have seen a lot of teams do it because it seems easy to do, but fail because it actually requires a lot more work than making a single gameplay. But you did it pretty well, so well done !

UMBRELLA REVENGE by SAGIII 2022-10-05T10:22:02Z

As other said, the game is really beautiful, but also very frustrating. And I don't think it's a question of mechanics or platformer physics, but more of level design. I mean, there are some flaws to the physics, like the double jump could be improved, but it's something the level design should compensate, by giving you challenges that are fun to tackle with the existing game mechanics. Here, you ask for a lot more precision than the character has. The levels would be really fun to play in a tight platformer game like super meat boy, but the umbrella has quite poor air control, and the walljump is hard to pull off. I may sound a little harsh, but this flaw is really ruining the experience, that would be simply amazing without it. The art style is great, the storytelling is really cool and the gameplay is pretty smooth. That kind of game is my jam, and you seem to have a lot of talent, so learn a bit of level design, and you'll make wonders !

Clique Hell High by Sean Esopenko 2022-10-06T00:17:34Z

The concept is interesting, having to switch between dodging and catching things depending on the character on the screen is a fun challenge ! I would like to have a bit more feedback on when the switch will happen though, because I often got caught offguard while I tried to get some heal.

Retention Ink by blayms 2022-10-04T16:13:14Z

Simple but fun game ! I think I never saw a game like this controlled with the mouse, it works surprisingly well ! I think the pen are a bit bugged, they never managed to touch me even when I tried to get killed on purpose. But that's not a big deal, I found it fun to wander around and eat everything I could. The second mode is even more fun, the speed makes it just hard enough to control to give challenge without being frustrating. Well done !

LD54 — Limited Space

StarDust by Geckoo1337 2023-10-08T11:35:13Z

This is not the first time I see this kind of mechanic in a jam, but the execution is pretty good ! the level is quite long, and I felt the difficulty was quite well balanced, I felt a bit lost at first, but quickly found the next step after a bit of searching. The only thing this game lacks I think is coyote time, the ability to jump for a fraction of second after starting to fall, it would make the platforming a bit smoother.

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-10T22:50:02Z

This concept is pretty clever, I really like it ! It's kirby, but that grows when he eats something. It's interesting to use that as a mechanic that blocks your movement. The input was a bit confusing however. I kept trying to throw with space or suck with down, it was the main difficulty I encountered, which was a bit frustrating, but now that I think about it, I don't know what kind of keybind would be better. I suppose it would be more intuitive with a gamepad, using RT and LT to suck and blow. The level design was pretty cool, and used the mechanic pretty well in different ways, that was fun ! Well done !

Hellevator by SgtWeirdo 2023-10-03T08:08:09Z

Haha another game called Hellevator, I think there are already like 20 games on itch that have that name ! I still love that pun though :) The combat is a bit wacky, but in a fun way ! I like how enemies are just thrown away when I hit them. However it is possible to spam the attack way faster than the animation allows, which makes the game a bit too easy, I could just bodyblock the enemies and destroy them right away. Otherwise, pretty cool pixel art and music !

Wrecking Jail by Guilloteam 2023-10-04T07:22:24Z

@coderaurus Thank you ! The leaderboard is still working, but it looks like some people have some texts that disappear in the menu, and I have no idea how it happens... It does not seem to happen in the windows version though.

Thank you everyone for your great feedback ! We managed to get the 16th place in the overall category, which is by far the best rank we got in Ludum Dare, and it's all because of you !

We have a discord where we talk about what our team does, game jams and game development. Please come in if you want to see more about our work or want to talk about game jams in general ! I'd also love to see what you all do next, I'd be glad to give feedback on your next games :) https://discord.gg/fkE66TRTHC

When we are not doing game jams, we work on Midnight Blood Rush, our first commercial games. It comes from Count Down Dracula, the game we made for LD48 ! It's a fast paced action roguelite, where you play a vampire sucking the blood of his enemies ! The steam page is here, adding it to your wishlist would be extremely helpful for us, as it is the only thing that gives visibility on Steam. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2502310/Midnight_Blood_Rush/

Escape from the clutches by Anton4ik-dev 2023-10-04T09:13:46Z

Cool artwork ! The gameplay is interesting, but I never got a win, I never managed to land the upgraded attacks. But it's really hard to know why because there is a lack of feedback on what I'm doing. I think that the effect of skills could be boosted by a lot to have more impact. I'd want to eat a big chunk of health when I slash, and completely cancel damage when I block. That way the timing for the use of skills would be way more important, currently I didn't see a real strategy as the amount of damage is almost constant, making the timing of the block unimportant, it felt like the best strategy was to play skills as soon as possible.

Debugged by Back2Zero 2023-10-03T09:43:06Z

I really like the idea of using the actual window size as a mechanic ! The gameplay itself has some problems, as aiming with the mouse on a tiny window is a bit hard, especially when you can't see the enemies because you are running away from them. I would have liked to see a mechanic that acts on the window size, like a powerup that allow you to see further for a short amount of time, it feels a bit under used at the moment. Anyway, really cool concept, it opens a huge design space that would be really fun to explore !

disembARK by Crygos 2023-10-03T10:03:45Z

I love that concept, so funny ! I was a bit unsure about the rules though, I first expected to lose if I didn't manage to get less than two animals of the same type at the same time, but it seems to be the ship that slowly sinks. It's cool but I noticed that only at the end of my playthrough, maybe a bit of feedback would have been good. The gameplay itself is simple but works pretty well, I like how it's quite manageable for some time, but at the end the only strategy is to throw as many animals overboard as possible to survive. That was genuinely hilarious !

The Big Crunch by Ategon 2023-10-11T01:28:06Z

Cool graphics ! I like how you gave meaning to all of the minigames ! And cool touch to have a minigame that asks you to do nothing, I kept losing at that one because I can't read instructions properly... The graphics are pretty good, for the rest it's quite classical wario ware stuff, I don't have a lot to say about that, except that it's cool to use only 4 keys for minigame input, wario ware has a different way to interact for almost every minigame, but with keyboard controls it would be annoying to learn the keys for every minigame, so it's good to keep it simple. Good job !

Cold and Unforgiving by ViktorTheGreat 2023-10-10T09:26:59Z

Cool game ! It catched my curiosity right away, and I like how you used the theme in a unique way ! I played two endings to see if the choices actually matter, but it seems all endings are the same ? Pretty intriguing anyway !

Give Me BBQ by Surune 2023-10-03T08:22:35Z

Pretty cool concept, and nice interpretation of the theme ! The whole game is a bit less fun than it could be, for a simple fact : orders deplete way too quickly. It seems like already with the first orders you have zero leeway to cook it on time, so it's really stressing right off the bat, and a bit discouraging as you know that it's already over if you don't have everything ready a few seconds after receiving the order. I think the challenge should come from the lack of space, not from the lack of time. I really like this idea but I never got to a point where space was an issue. That is really a bummer because everything in this game is cool, graphics, gameplay, global polish, but that balancing might tank the ratings quite a lot...

Limited Shadow by miemie 2023-10-09T23:49:26Z

Cool little game, with interesting art ! I like especially the tutorial artwork ! That's ambitious to tackle 3D for a jam, and even though the controls are a bit wacky at times, it works pretty well ! I couldn't find the treasure though, it didn't highlight when I went close to it, but I won in spirit \o/

Call Of The Kraken for Playdate by AguaHervida 2024-04-17T09:40:23Z

Oh I want to play this, it looks so cool ! Making a playdate game in a jam is really cool, I wish I had one ;( Is there an emulator simple to install to try it anyways ?

Demon Keys by JulienLussiez 2024-04-17T09:55:26Z

Ultra simple game but the execution is flawless ! I like the art style, the demon looks so happy ;)

A Grave Mistake by JUSTCAMH 2024-04-19T12:59:53Z

I like the concept a lot, and graphics are really neat, but I got a bit annoyed at some point, mostly because the digging mechanic is a bit slow, and you need to dig every block over and over, which adds up and end up being a bit tedious. I love the fact that the game does not explain anything, but I think the exploration and réflexion is a bit hindered by the fact that everything takes more time than it should, and you have to memorize the position of everything if you don.t want to dig the same spot over and over. Maybe keeping a visual information when the soul comes back to the grave would help. I'd be glad to come back to the game if there is a patch in the future, because that put aside, it's great work as always !

Infernal Covenant by AXLplosion 2024-04-17T11:40:00Z

The concept is pretty cool, I didn't think the theme would yield some observation game, that's interesting ! I barely read the rules the first time, expecting it to be only flavour text, so it took me a while to understand what happened. A sentence explaining what I had to with the rules before giving them would have made the introduction a bit smoother I think. Other than that, I have no complaint : the gameplay is pretty simple but well executed, the art style is really moody and it's not hard once you understand what you have to do. Good job !

Oil Creatures by krakadushka 2024-04-17T17:54:00Z

Interesting reverse tower defense ! There is one mechanic I took a long time to understand : collecting oil is actually done with the mouse ! I though I had to make minions run over it to collect it, which made the start of the game way slower than necessary... Graphics are cool and the oil theme is quite original, plus the game looks pretty polished, well done !

Dungeon Summoner by Pomo 2024-04-19T07:51:21Z

The enemy behaviour breaks at some point, I suppose when the pathfinding becomes more complex, but the game iss still pretty fun ! I like building wals to draw the map, and the resource system works pretty well. Plus the swarming effect is genuinely scary ! (Until they stop moving of course)

The Ordnancer by ForceElementZ 2024-04-19T14:25:11Z

Great work on the juice ! The game feel is really cool, with all the screen shake / sound design / vfx ! I wish there were another type of enemy to make the gameplay a bit more varied, like a ranged enemy that throws projectiles, forcing the player to dodge, but it's already pretty fun to play as it is. I know how melee combat can be hard to pull off, so well done !

The Summonee by theheheo 2024-04-17T10:04:16Z

The low res 3D looks really cool, I like the diablo 2 vibe a lot ! And the voice acting is really funny ;) It's a perfect example of what juice can add to a game : the gameplay itself is very simple, but the feedback given when hitting and killing enemies make it pretty addictive ! If the combat system had a little more depth, it would become an awesome game !

STUPID LEGS by danmerey 2024-04-25T10:29:37Z

I am amazed by how well the physics work, given the small amount of part types there is. Walking and climbing work surprisingly well, with a hilariously wacky way of moving. I Love it !

A Following Wind by digitaliliad 2024-04-20T10:28:49Z

You're crazy to tackle compo for a first game jam ! But I have to say the result is pretty cool ! Cute graphics, interesting gameplay, especially with the idea that your actions can affect other ships in the future, I really love how it forces you to carefully use your wind. It really fits into the kind of games I like, where all rules are simple but interactions are hard to master. As others already pointed out, the main weakness of the game is the legibility of interactions : you don't really know the exact size of the zone your wind acts on, and the direction of ships is not always clear as they are so tiny on the screen. My main strategy to avoid that kind of problem is to think about things in terms of interactions : list all the things that interact together gameplay-wise, and make sure there is a visible feedback that show that the interaction is there. If you have gusts of wind, island and ships, you need something for every couple of those elements. Feedback can be anything : change of sprite, particle effect, tint effect, small scale animation, etc. It does not even need to be beautiful, but it needs to be there. For the wind/boat interaction, you could make the boats have a sprite with sails on that appears only when they are in the wind, or they could change color if you don't have time to make a different sprite. The zones for gusts of wind also need to be clearer. Maybe just a transparent sprite that displays the exact zone would make it way more clear. I hope that will help, great job and see you next LD ! ;)

Path Of The Nature by pirrrate 2024-04-17T09:38:06Z

Fun fact, it crashes when I press 3 in the first level ^^ The art style is cool and sets an interesting mood right away. It lacks a bit in terms of gameplay to be really interesting to play, but that's a pretty cool start !

Some Munnings by SoBad 2024-04-20T13:37:09Z

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Kick That Cat by pndaa 2024-10-09T15:35:41Z

That's a cool minigame, with a pretty funny concept, but it's really hard ! I never got to kill the bunnies. I think there too many things to do at once : handle the timing of the kick while deciding of the force of the throw is really hard, especially as there is no room for error, you lose when any enemy touches you. Making the first enemies easier to hit would give more time for the player to focus on the timing without having to worry too much about precision.

My Homie the Gnomie by kazuo256 2024-10-11T09:53:35Z

It looks pretty cool, but I have zero clue on what to do ;( after some random testing I found the button to switch character, and I understand the small world mechanic where furniture close to each other are accessible to the gnome, but I don't know what I have to do to complete the objectives. It's too bad, the concept is really clever !

Multimorph by Shakedimus 2024-10-11T12:20:54Z

Interesting concept ! I think the gameplay could be made a bit more dynamic by increasing the movement speed, currently it is a bit tedious to move around, especially as it's impossible to move in diagonal. But it's so satisfying to see the organism grow, there is definitely potential !

Keyblob: Rush by Neez 2024-10-09T14:06:09Z

I like a lot the 2D/3D mix, I wished the gameplay used the 3D a bit more, currently it felt a bit like the platform part was always against the wall, the rest of the rooms were a bit empty. I guess it's because it's hard to evaluate distances in 3D, and it made the platforming too hard ? In terms of physics, I found some jumps pretty hard to do, mostly because the character needs some distance to build momentum before jumping, or it has not enough speed to reach its target. As some platforms are really small (the boxes mostly), it makes the timing really tight to jump properly. Anyway, the game is fun, there is a lot of visual variety in the rooms and I never got lost. That's a pretty good entry, well done !

Chumini: Tiny Army by Guilloteam 2024-10-09T15:37:05Z

@dan-nik-sg That's a very good point ! We had 10 enemy types we wanted to implement but only had time to add 6, and the ones that attack enemies in front of the player didn't make it... But we'll definitely make a post jam patch with what's missing ! The healing truly needs more feedback, and is maybe a bit underpowered currently. We'll work on that !

Chumini: Tiny Army by Guilloteam 2024-10-14T16:19:31Z

@SereneWind thank you for your feedback ! I agree the explosion radius increase is a bit overtuned at the moment, and we need to rework the healing mechanic, and we have many ideas of chuminis to try ! We are working on a post-jam patch, that might ultimately make it to steam, so any feedback is welcome ! I would love to talk game design with you, we have a small community discord server for our team if you want to come by ;) https://discord.gg/HKZKeMcB

Emberlight by Frostbeak 2024-10-08T17:16:47Z

Pretty cool atmosphere, I like a lot the reflection on the water, even though it's a bit too bright compared to the rest of the game, I was wondering at first wether it was a gameplay element or not. I think everything was a little too dark, but I know it's hard to do right when the light is a gameplay mechanic. The game is simple but interesting, I didn't read the description before playing but found out easily what to do. It's a bit ruthless though, having a few lives before having to restart would make the game a bit less frustrating.

Neopunk by ZevsEHG 2025-10-06T11:37:12Z

Great atmosphere! It's a bit too dark for my screen, I had trouble seing things, but I loved the cyberpunk/horror vibe! I tried a few runs but couldn't find more than one or two boxes, I don't know where they are supposed to spawn...
