LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Sea Whale Mechanic by Jiri_One 2021-04-26T09:10:37Z

This was excellent! The reduced field of view and the tank controls made it feel really spooky and threatening, but the cute sprites made it quite funny as well. Nothing hugely innovative but very well-made overall! (And the music was great too.)

Inks by mahalis 2021-04-28T11:49:27Z

This was really great! I liked the interpretation of the theme, and the way the other ink blobs could surprise you by shifting colours themselves. Just an overall very pleasant five-minute experience.

Boneitis - Quest for the Cure by patvanmackelberg 2021-04-26T10:08:36Z

This was fun! Sound and music were good, and there were a lot of little neat touches that made it feel polished. I think some player movement speed upgrades would be good, since the only frustrating thing was how long it takes to get anywhere. Good job overall!

Robo Delve by Thalikoth 2021-04-26T09:18:22Z

The concept is pretty solid but I think the physics need to be more responsive to make it fun. I often got caught on flat surfaces and felt like I should have more momentum. I think increasing the mass of the robot, the force of the player's input and the elasticity of the rope would go a long way!

FlickWest by wolderado 2021-04-26T08:55:43Z

This was great fun! I've never played a game quite like it, so points for innovation. I particularly liked the animation and the personality you gave the characters.

Diggy Orc by RicardoBusta 2021-04-26T11:14:51Z

I had a blast with this one - I liked how the longer you go on the more it almost becomes a rhythm game. And no shame about the music, it works well!

Chameleon Excavation by NykolaR 2021-04-26T16:13:30Z

The controls were a little wack but the atmosphere was excellent - I too had some issues with the web version but the desktop version worked fine.

Conversational Pitfalls by oxrock 2021-04-26T10:14:41Z

Unfortunately there isn't much gameplay but there is some absolutely stellar audio work so congrats!

Ocean Cleanup by Weirdybeardyman 2021-04-29T13:22:55Z

I would agree with previous comments about the controls, but the atmosphere is very strong and you nailed the relaxing tone with the music and the color scheme.

The NYPD Shaman by WongKongPhooey 2021-04-28T11:20:37Z

This is a really strong entry - nothing to do with the theme but it was so innovative and interesting to play that I didn't really mind! The music and concept were charming and the mechanic did feel like detective work, so excellent job.

Deep space by ancooper 2021-04-27T15:25:05Z

The art is definitely the strongest aspect - I like the concept and I think with some more features and increasing complexity this could become something quite fun.

Blue Eye - Salvage & Rescue by PurpledArtFrog 2021-04-27T14:07:51Z

I'd agree with what other people said about the overwhelming UI messages, but I really liked the art (the main character sprite is cute) and the movement of the ship as you go down has a good feel to it. Quite atmospheric, too!

Capsule Fall by Jeremia 2021-04-26T08:52:48Z

I liked this! I thought the sound was suitably moody and the choice to make it a console app was a a good one. It reminded me of Downwell.

The Long Walk by SquareBoxCompany 2021-04-26T10:25:19Z

Same issue as Billnotic here - there's no link to play on the itch.io page!

Deep Mole by hutchings90 2021-04-27T20:05:24Z

One million points for the audio!

Plunge by ZwodahS 2021-04-28T11:14:25Z

I really liked the pace of this one! The colour palette is simple and stylish, and it handles well at high speeds. Nicely challenging without being frustrating.

Deeper by robinfaury 2021-04-27T11:15:30Z

Super impressive to develop a GBC game in a weekend! The visuals are particularly crisp and they've got that old nintendo charm.

Fine Line Mine by spyranteros 2021-04-28T11:06:47Z

A little buggy, as others have pointed out, but the art style was excellent and a lot of care went into the presentation! The music didn't quite match the mood but overall it felt like a pleasant, polished experience.

Mullet Time by Lajbert 2021-04-26T09:35:23Z

This was super fun, and the music in particular was excellent! I had a great time playing. My only issue was that the first couple of times I played the sparta kick didn't trigger and the enemy just fell into the spikes, so I didn't get the fuel and ammo. That said, the music was good enough that I tried a few more times just to listen a bit more and then it worked!

The jetpack was pleasingly zoomy and navigating through the spike corridors was challenging but not frustrating - and the sprites were pretty charming too. Great job!

Project Achelois by DzejPi 2021-04-26T09:26:42Z

The atmosphere was excellent, and I was impressed with the polish of the cutscene and dialog system. My main issue was that the camera position didn't give you much vision of where you were going, and the submarine's spotlight didn't actually light thing up, it washed them out and made it harder to see. The audio and visuals were very good, though.

Johnny Debt by haztro 2021-04-27T15:19:43Z

The game loop got stale pretty quick, but the central mechanics of running around and pinging money off people felt really nice and were complemented by pleasant UI, audio and visuals. Really impressive polish for a compo game!

The Avaricious Deep by nigeynige 2021-04-26T13:48:00Z

Thanks all! Just FYI there should be a volume setting in the Help & Options/How To Play menu - you can also mute sound and music with M and N.

The Avaricious Deep by nigeynige 2021-04-28T08:58:09Z

Thank you for playing! By the way @haztro @bw-devel - thanks for reporting the build bug, I think it's a problem with the scene reloading after the first round. Refreshing the page probably fixes it but I'll see if I can push a patch.

The Fall by junkajii 2021-04-27T15:15:41Z

Simple, but fun and well-executed. The audio and the juice animations were particularly good.

Deepest Ocean by ache games 2021-04-26T09:05:26Z

I was impressed with the quality of the sprites in this - I assume you made meshes in blender and rendered them? The core game loop is simple but solid and the minigames add variety, too.

Bathyscaphe by ipodtouch0218 2021-04-28T12:52:45Z

I really loved this entry! The decisions you made about lighting were spot-on (fading at the edge of your spotlight, ambient light dimming as you got deeper) and the risk-reward gameplay worked perfectly. I especially liked how close you had to get to the walls to collect your treasures, and the creaking sound effects as you dipped below the safe range created atmosphere wonderfully. Probably the best game I've played in the jam so far. Terrific work, you should be proud.

Spin On by Hruhf 2021-04-26T10:30:12Z

This game is bastard hard and I don't think I managed to kill a single anti, but the movement felt so good and the concept so cool that I just kept playing - great job!
