Take care of your bones please, people.
I love this haha "I regret getting Boneitis" The gameplay is very enjoyable, I've advanced quite a bit before accidently exiting the dungeon because I held the up button a tad too long I'd add very simple instructions - it took me a while to understand that I need to use the arrow keys I would also increase the suck speed on the coins - the fact that there's auto-loot is great, but I still find myself having to go towards thems, if they came to me faster it would really improve the flow!
I think this was a really well put together game. My only real complaint is that the cure is almost completely unattainable. Maybe this was part of the joke of the game. I got all of the upgrades but 100,000 gold is crazy. Also what exactly did the iron pick do? Didn't really find anything changed after I got it.
@khaotom it's the least we can do!
@chironyx Thank you so much for playing! I hope the save system kept you in your spot in the dungeon :D I thought that maybe the coins were too slow to attract - I'll have to keep that in mind for next time, thank you so much for playing :D
@swordfish Thank you for playing! After lvl 20 there are rocks that appear that the iron pick can break - and the loot is much more desirable! Somewhere between floor 50 and 60 you'll get that 100,000 but honestly it is a bit out here haha.
This was fun! Sound and music were good, and there were a lot of little neat touches that made it feel polished. I think some player movement speed upgrades would be good, since the only frustrating thing was how long it takes to get anywhere. Good job overall!
@nigeynige Thank you for playing! I was considering adding a speed upgrade (and another upgrade to equipment) but I got pressed for time :P
Very entertaining game. A few things I would consider changing however... I think switching weapons is more of a hassle then anything. maybe just a pickaxe and you use it as a weapon and can upgrade for mining or attacking. Id also add some battle music in the dungeon. Other then that, I loved the simplistic art and catchy music. Good job!! [beatit.png](///raw/d23/d2/z/3d8f1.png)
Thank you for the feedback! I also found it a bit annoying to swap the weapons - I wish I had thought of a battle pickaxe at the time! Thank you for playing :)
Great game! I love the plot, its very unique! The graphics are simple yet cute! But the floors in the cave become a bit repetitive. Awesome game!
@plazyqwerty Thank you so much! It does take a bit of grinding - I had a ton of ideas to make it better but the time restraints were tough lol!
Nice !!! Love the graphics
@chensu Thank you :)
Good concept! I like the little bit of humour at the beginning of the game, and overall your game is solid. Like others pointed out, it feels like you need an eternity to reach the 100,000 dollars! I feel the character (and everything, really) moves a bit too slowly as well.
But otherwise, a fun and solid little game. Congrats!
Nice game, it is just really hard to play with a non QWERTY keyboard... :) Nice job overall !
feels polished. Well done! Found myself playing for quite some time, thanks. i liekd the mining/combat interplay. i tried to rush through once i got the iron pick to grab the loot and not waste time attacking enemies. worked on some levels but not others due to enemy RNG placement. Good fun
I love the pixel art with its animations!
First impression of the Bone Doctor: "Ah, nice guy, takes only half of my money!"
Next time I died: "Are you kidding me? Half of the money?"
Great game, 100 000$ is set very high, but I had much fun!
Well done! I really wanted to get $100,000 to cure her of boneitis but I was unsuccessful. That dang bone doctor kept taking half my money when I died! I had fun seeing how deep I could go though. Good call on making the exit door take you out of the dungeon instead of just up one floor. And re-entering took me back to where I left off--good quality of life decision. Combat, shops, heart wrenching story of boneitis--That's a successful game. Great entry, keep making games. :)
For a two day game this has an impressive amount of content put in. The dialogue is funny and the gameplay is simple but pretty enjoyable. The pixel art is also very well done and I like that you can buy upgrades. I also really like that you put checkpoints in the game and that you don't have to go through the previous floors to exit the cave.
I would increase the magnet size for coin collection, because it feels pretty slow standing still for a second each time you break a rock or chest. Switching weapons also feels pretty awkward. What I would've done is bind the weapon switch to the spacebar, then visually draw the sword and pickaxe on the player's hand so he knows which one he's holding. Finally, $100,000 is way too high because the gameplay starts getting pretty repetitive well before that point. I think $10,000 would've been a good enough goal instead.
Overall, nice job on the game! I didn't manage to get the $100,000 but I had fun with it.
@linky439 thank you for playing and for the feedback - I was genuinely shocked to see that people actually made it to the $100,000 goal on my twitter :P
@yamzho I can imagine! I'm sorry for that inconvenience - I did consider controller support but time was a factor :P
@jj2oo2 thank you for the feedback! The enemy's were VERY basic lol they basically make their way to you and if they are within range - hit you. With more time I may have given them a "tell" to let the player know when the attack was coming :p
@gilborn lol he is such a quack - you gotta be careful in those dungeons!
@timbertoes thank you for the feedback! I reaallly tried to pack as much as I could into it without running out of time lol
@thewinrawr Thank you for the feedback! Next time around I really need to get testers lol! Even if it's my own kids - those little things do get annoying over the course of making $100,000 haha
Really ambitious going for the intro and story stuff, but also really appreciated and elevated it quite a bit. A funny concept to build on, and could see the gameplay/grind-loop being pretty addictive. As for feeling like $100,000 is a bit much to get for a quick playthrough, this might be editorializing but could have always made it so that that debt needed ticks up impossibly as you play.
@kirbloid Thank you for playing! I initially made it $1,000,000 lol! I really hoped $100,000 was the middle ground between too long and not long enough :P
Oh no! Boneitis!!
I'm giving this a solid 5 stars!
This is a great game. Three little nit picky issues: - The instructions screen opened every time I entered the house or woke up from bed. - The enemies were pretty easy to beat. You could just stand next to them and keep attacking them without moving. Enemies could be made more difficult by having some jump out the way of your attacking when they "wake up" or shoot at you from a distance. (I only made it to level 43 of the mines.) - I got to about $50,000. After I upgraded all my pickaxe, sword, and armor, it seemed like it was going to be a long time to reach $100,000, so a little more end game content would be nice.
Overall, this is a great game. I spent longer playing this game than any other LD 48 game! (Other than my own while making it!)
Just a heads up, if you "genuinely thought nobody would get" to the end of your game, you should probably rethink the win condition of your game. I've done that before too, back in Ludum Dare 35, along with my very own "I didn't think anybody would get this far" message. As I have since learned, people tend to like a game better if they can beat it.

In any case, the game slows down dramatically after floor 40. There should seriously be some sort of additional rock that just spits out diamonds. I passed floor 100 and was pretty disappointed at the lack of additional features.
I really liked the random generation, and the variation of the walls inside the caves added a whole lot! The enemies were well designed, and drawn pretty well too! I like the overworld music, though the incredibly bass-heavy cave music could be raised an octave, or even be given its own melody. I really enjoyed the game and had a lot of fun for the first ten minutes or so, but it dropped off after a while and became a chore to finish.
I wish there was some way to cryogenically freeze my daughter so the cure for Boneitis would be a bit more readily available!
@andrewaprice Thank you so much for the feed back and kind words! I bit off more than I could chew for this game lol! The features stop after floor 20 unfortunately so it gets pretty repetitive. Thank you for playing!
@100th-coin thank you for playing! I initially had the cost at $1,000,000 for the cure but I hoped that $100,000 was a bit more realistic. I'm glad to see a few people actually played it through! After floor 20 the new things popping up just stops - The demons were the last things to appear. A bit more planning next time and hopefully I can make it consistent though the whole game :P Thank you again!
The game looks good for 8 bit pixel art, and the story is pretty unique, as well as the connection to the theme. Nice job!
