LD44 — Your life is currency

Conway's Currency by klianc09 2019-05-02T15:57:35Z

Tough to get into but very ambitious and easy to play (with or without knowing the rules). I really appreciated the tutorial room for the basic gameplay. I could imagine in future iterations that Conway's ruleset could be presented in different ways (like letting the player see how the coins will react on a future turn or something). Great job!

Traade by Ace17 2019-05-04T23:33:16Z

I enjoyed the puzzling nature, trying to pick the right path and make it through. Theme was straight to the point but I liked the way it added to the puzzle.

The Final Rescue by mrjoshuamclean 2019-05-13T00:48:17Z

I was just thinking recently that I wanted to see a take on the theme where OTHER lives were currency and I feel like this uniquely delivered. The low storage count and food count encouraged the player to trade lives with the system, and the audio really helped sell a grim mood.

Orcan Harvest by Mathstr0fficial 2019-05-04T23:42:56Z

One of the more unique takes on the theme I've seen this whole game jam, probably one of the best usages of it, and the pixel art is great! Only knock I'd give is on the sound for the jumpscare-level effects of the explosion sound, but otherwise a very solid entry.

Lifarm by Naruvan 2019-04-30T17:05:47Z

Took a little bit to get the hook of the game, but once I did the concept behind this could easily be a full blown game that I'd love to play. I really appreciate game jam games that are bursting with possibilities and this is one of them.

Haemogoblin by Dorkulon 2019-05-13T00:52:46Z

Well rounded game, where the art and audio really pull it together and give it a solid full-game feel. An interesting push/pull with the way you get currency and attacking the mobs.

Sapling by Treeboater 2019-04-30T16:34:24Z

Would rate higher on mood if I could. Lovely pixel art and music, the gameplay kept me playing longer than expected, and I'll always appreciate game mechanics that become more apparent as you play without a tutorial.

Board Life by Serious07 2019-04-30T16:24:32Z

Really polished and easy to play, with a lot of humor in the tiles and results. Despite the (on point) commentary with the random dice rolls effecting your life, did feel there was some control in the direction and the risks the player took.

Labyrinth of Lifeforce by Arthur Baars 2019-05-04T22:32:50Z

Really like the sprites! Progress versus life remaining, and dodging traps, is a good tradeoff and could lead to some really tough platforming puzzles.

Space Escape by Somogy 2019-05-02T16:03:55Z

Had to restart the game after encountering an issue where my fuel drained at a super fast rate, but afterwards was able to play for a bit. Great job on the atmosphere and look.

LD45 — Start with nothing

The drop to the top by jk5000 2019-10-08T16:59:49Z

Fun concept and look that really popped off of the screen. Filling up from nothing worked out way more with these shapes and physics playing into it.

Empty Dungeon by Wevel 2019-10-08T17:06:56Z

Takes me back to some of the games I played as a (very young and bad at these games) kid. Echoing that the monitor effect is great and adds a lot, and the theme based around dungeoning makes a lot of sense. Classic, retro-modern, and cool.

Dungeon Crawler by Rialgar 2019-10-07T01:15:53Z

Really loved the feeling/mood of this one, and the animations of the hero were pretty entertaining.

Start with no dice by Listonos 2019-10-08T16:39:13Z

Deckbuilder + dice, the ultimate start from nothing feel-good game. The helper text was very much appreciated, and having an opponent right from the start was a nice touch.

tile.flip() by Move127 2019-10-12T00:56:45Z

Puzzle games are tough to make feel intuitive, but I feel like I could figure this one out playing, and experimenting with the turn by turn play, so congrats there! The simple shapes and style was nice as well.

Fragmented Reality by Syrapt0r 2019-10-08T00:07:59Z

This game's got some style, and a lot of fun visuals and humor. Great intro that sets up the mood and theme really well too.

S.W.N by silkworm_sweatshop 2019-10-07T23:47:15Z

Nice twist on the "start with nothing" theme. Controls are super fluid and getting around the levels feels fun. Pretty stellar level maker, too!

Duck Fortress by shrapx 2019-10-10T02:11:29Z

Liked the hand-drawn look of the game, and the world building you put in around the game's setting.

Simple? Tower Defense by shared 2019-10-22T16:08:48Z

Not lots of games, especially for a gamejam, can really have fun with their humor and graphics, but yours certainly did. Great job!

Island of the Coconut Spirit by candlesan 2019-10-26T23:01:54Z

The Spirit Island inspiration was nice to see, as I'm a big fan of that game. The way everyone moved about and the overall look was really pleasant.

Rest In Peace by William Derksen 2019-10-22T15:58:07Z

Fun take on the idea of starting with nothing and having to use all you have to get through. The jumping mechanic was also fun to discover.

Minds are Mine by EggshellDog 2019-10-10T17:05:37Z

Using possession to start from nothing was a fun take on the theme. One of my favorite parts of this game is how you used each level to teach the mechanics.

Bartered by Aycan 2019-10-08T17:04:57Z

I really loved the take on the theme, and you captured it really well with your game. Takes a bit to jump into but only got more clever the more I played with it. Great job!

The Card Crafter by Grhyll 2019-10-26T22:54:14Z

Creating cards is so cool! Plus I'll always appreciate a jam game, especially a compo, that has card crafting as part of it. Great job tackling the theme in a really creative way.

Becoming Something. by zoarfy 2019-10-26T22:59:56Z

Cartoony 3D graphics were really fun to see and this game together really nicely! I like the theme and how you tackled the jam with it. Great job!

The Carpenter by Valentin4311 2019-10-22T16:14:07Z

Love this style! Carpenter was a nice choice for tackling the theme, and building stuff is always so satisfying too.

Nothingness by PhillSerrazina 2019-10-07T17:02:03Z

Best use of the theme, and the open ended structure of it made me want to play it again a couple more time. I enjoyed my waterworld the first time.

When Nothing Came by velvetlobster 2019-10-26T22:57:09Z

Love the look of this so much. High marks in graphics/audio and mood for sure. The way everything moved and the way the world was literally brought to life from nothing was such a joy to see and play.

All I Got For My Birthday Was This Terrible Curse by randomnine 2019-10-22T16:16:59Z

Charming beyond belief, and that UI really glues everything together with the graphics. Great job!

Nepton by Juutis 2019-10-07T01:25:11Z

There's so much to love about this entry. The 3D is used to support the gameplay style, and the gameplay loop is a lot of fun.

Small Town by XCVZXC 2019-10-08T16:27:39Z

Falls under my favorite type of LD games, the ones where you can easily see so many aspects expanded on from an engaging central concept. Building up the town from scratch gives you quite a feeling of progression, making leveling up and placing different buildings really satisfying. Only wished some of the first charged buildings were cheaper so you could see more of the game faster after all that clicking.

Out Of Nothing by Toryf 2019-10-22T16:06:13Z

The effects as the game went on were really neat and it got quite challenging while giving a good sense of speed. The audio and graphics were top notch.

Start with a Click by Maksim Chugunov 2019-10-07T16:51:32Z

This is the new kind of take on a clicker game I was hoping to see. So far, it's the game I've played the longest of checking out all the compos.

Molecular Madness by PurpledArtFrog 2019-10-22T16:12:09Z

I dig the style and taking the theme to such a logical but also fun place. Yeah, this has a really nice mood and clean look to it while also playing well!

Green Tea by karpopper 2019-10-07T00:18:29Z

Love the pixel 3D look! It also encourages taking in the environment first before firing, and feels a lot more puzzly than shooter-y.

PlainMan by Dvlv 2019-10-22T16:10:51Z

Really appreciate adventure/story games during a jam! The look is fun and fits the gameplay.

Nothing Wars by CalLavicka 2019-10-12T01:19:49Z

Starting with no army was a pretty straightforward take on the theme, but the tanks themselves, also starting with nothing, was really cool! I like being aware of the opponents stats, too, adding more strategy if it was blown out to a full game, where you build your tanks to counter theirs.

Shoot it all by Symphonia 2019-10-12T00:29:15Z

It's really awesome that you kept with it for the compo and submitted, that's really admirable and you have a solid core for a game.

We Got Nothin' !!! by Trevor Shoe 2019-10-07T16:23:43Z

A lot of fun! Good humor, style, and a good ease of play. Nice use of the 3d look.

Card Hero by Skyball 2019-10-07T00:14:50Z

It's cool when you can feel the progression between "okay but what is the game" and "ooooooooh neat!" as you play it. This is definitely the kind of game your imagination can run wild with possibilities on.

VoidTech by loganthemanster 2019-10-26T23:03:49Z

This had such a nice look that stood out, and you could see a full game being born from this project. Loved the mood and having a nice little story experience from a jam game was a fun surprise.

Planetary Adventure by c0d3d 2019-10-07T16:18:55Z

Will echo that the downloaded version is a lot more stable and the way to play it. Liked the look and the planet to planet flow.

Dreamscaping by Kirbloid 2019-10-08T19:44:21Z

It's great hearing the feedback so far, and gives me so many ideas of things I could do to improve this project, and future ones, in how I present the game and the mechanics.

@rialgar Thank you so much for sharing that video. Seeing the process of checking out the game and testing how it worked meant a ton!

A Fishermans Friendly Island Builder by Lombax 2019-10-08T16:21:33Z

Building up an island to also fish on/from is a really fun concept. It does nail the theme in that I feel like I'm not starting with anything, but quickly as you get used to the controls you really start to feel like you could be building up a whole adventure.

Venture by eugsun 2019-10-12T00:45:25Z

A pretty unique game for the compo, and I loved the sprite art for this too.

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-08T16:34:57Z

Great style, and liked how some shots could take out multiple targets when timed right. There's a lot here to expand on, as it gives me modern Missile Command vibes.

Purpose: Unknown by Frogravity 2019-10-07T16:59:32Z

Pretty ambitious for a compo entry, and the 3d looks pretty cool for it. Exploring and battling was really engaging, and the style of the world was fun to poke around in.

itemless by NachtWitch 2019-10-22T15:52:59Z

Really impressive stuff for the compo! Everything sort of just comes together and has a fun and addicting gameplay loop while making you feel like you've started with nothing.

Run... Away? by blint6 2019-10-10T02:19:09Z

First jam! And yeah, with Godot too, a really fun engine to use. Def keep it up, the controls and shooting was fun, too.

Flourish by Corrade 2019-10-22T15:59:20Z

I really loved the art and theme here! Really impressive and quite cozy to play. Definitive 5 in mood for me.

Dissipate by Nodli 2019-10-08T17:03:02Z

I really respect you making and using your own engine for the jam, and SDL2 is pretty great and also pretty involved for a jam. Good minimalist style alongside a use of simple color for that style.

A bard's Journey by Kanonix 2019-10-07T16:25:43Z

Worthwhile to get it running on the android and a great idea for future jams. Being about a bard the music was going to need to be stellar and you nailed it. A lot to check out in one game.

There is more by jakiteli 2019-10-07T23:54:09Z

Favorite part was the feeling of getting the keyboard back as the keys fell down. A fun concept you could easily see expanded into a bunch of levels.

Yin-Yang by Keith Wang 2019-10-08T16:57:18Z

Loved the push and pull between sides, and the style. The theme came across to me like "nothing is hitting me, why am I dying" and exploring that from there.

Nothing by Georg Wacker 2019-10-07T16:34:10Z

Was worth going all the way through, and to see it to the end. Due to red/green colorblindness a couple stages were a bit tough to match up but was still able to get past it.

The Desert of Nothingness by Douwe_Ravers 2019-10-07T16:13:31Z

The UI is fun and theme really does come through with the environment and setup. I'll echo that it's a little tough to get started but when you do it plays pretty smoothly. Sort of fits into the whole theme, too, that way.

LD46 — Keep it alive

myBUDDY O.S. by Lawnchair Society 2020-04-21T00:55:37Z

Having the game appear to be part of the PC adds so much, and feels super unique for this kind of game. Really loved the graphics as well!

Emergency Override by Listonos 2020-04-20T17:14:50Z

Easily your most "cool" production-level, funny, and -A E S T H E T I C- kind of game and I had a blast with it. Great use of the filter and telling a little story, and using the binary switches was a more original take than many hacking games use.

Ball Keeper by JCMonkey 2020-04-21T01:14:50Z

I clicked on it thinking it was a snake game, and then found myself playing it almost 5 times in a row with its really unique concept and gameplay, and a unique take on the theme! Great job, this was such a polished entry and a lot of fun to play.

Keep The Beat Alive! by Willops 2020-04-21T01:29:47Z

The gameplay and music sync really well in this pretty creative take on keeping the beat alive. When the moving and shooting clicked in my head the gameplay really came together.

In the Valley of Souls Deluxe Edition by Syrapt0r 2020-04-20T18:25:46Z

Great use of the setup and developer commentary to add to the overall experience!

The Lost of Nix by Tygrak 2020-04-30T02:51:24Z

I loved the pixel art! The game and its mood immediately jumped out and grabbed me, and I appreciate for a combo game being able to see the interactable tiles and get a feel tactics part of it.

Rover Pilot by workshopcraft 2020-04-21T00:33:23Z

Really loved the design of the rover, and the minimap was well implemented!

Flight of the Cepheus by thedashdude 2020-04-21T00:48:07Z

The thought reading added character to the game, and could really imagine this as a fully fleshed out game.

That Time I Crossed A Barren Desert To Protect&Care The World From Terrible Code by alaah 2020-04-22T01:28:05Z

Clever and intuitive to play, while really nailing the theme in a couple ways. A fun setup and the times I failed to keep them alive really felt like my fault. Will definitely echo the sentiment that this was super polished, too!

Venusian Cargo by MCjammydodger 2020-04-22T02:09:12Z

Nice graphics for the compo, and the rewind feature kept me playing longer than anticipated, great job!

Age of Aquaria by mahalis 2020-04-21T01:49:04Z

Theme would be rated 0 if I had to go by how well I kept the fish alive, but thankfully it's not based on that. Great job with the unique theme take, and great use of Unreal engine to make a nice looking physics game.

Space Ship E.V.E by silkworm_sweatshop 2020-04-30T01:28:30Z

This brought together so much more than just pet management with a ship protection game, as the story and atmosphere added up to so much with this whole package. The art style worked well with the aesthetic, and wow, the soundtrack, right as it starts, kept adding to the atmosphere. I'd say good mashup but that wouldn't be correct, as I think this was a very solid whole where the different genres of gameplay and storytelling all worked together.

Birb Island by ursagames 2020-04-30T02:49:00Z

Ambitious for a compo, but I think the 3D tile style you picked and the scope you accomplished worked well together for the event. The choice you made to not have the bird die was the right one, I think, as I liked the consequences of it, and could see it being a lot more fleshed out with time.

A Cold Walk Home by Stefanie Leitch 2020-04-24T00:16:14Z

This game had a lost of charm to it, and the combination of the graphics (loved the pixel art and shading effect) and story stuff, especially the way text was used, fits so well with the theme and it was a joy to see come together. It must have taken a lot to make storytelling text a part of the entry but it does so much for the experience. I hope you win!

Keep the light alive by MaximBegunov 2020-04-20T18:44:34Z

Clever use of block pushing, light being used to solve puzzles (like puzzle 2 was a clever intro), and overall a great feel to playing it!

Your Pet Alien by AdonisDevs 2020-04-21T00:42:46Z

The graphics and gameplay really add to the humor, was fun to throw the alien in the closet as the mom barges in.

My First LD - Choosy! by Lorne 2020-04-21T01:08:12Z

Really nice graphical style with the sountrack. Took a little bit to get used to the gameplay but the choice in food groups was a nice touch.

Keep It Afloat by ZeGGamer 2020-04-22T02:10:40Z

Lots of high marks here, and an excellent take on the theme! Favorite bit of animation is when you plummet but the whole game was just oozing charm.

Keep It Alive by Ratstail91 2020-04-22T01:21:13Z

Loved this one a lot, especially how it captured the theme and how it played. Def one of the compo games I felt really went for the theme and mood first and foremost with little surprises as the flame died.

Outpowered by LCStark 2020-04-30T00:58:30Z

The mini map was so clever, it added a ton to the experience, from the sort of assistance it gave exploring the maze to the balance of pushing far out before enemies arrived or the power started to wane. Have to be close to the generator to keep it alive added a real push and pull element which added tension to actually exploring. Played pretty well, and the music added a lot. Pretty high marks, good job!

Virtual Pet: No escape from Life by MickM 2020-04-21T00:15:19Z

I can't believe I had to sent my poor little virtual pet to work! Great little game, the balance between making credits and buying stuff was good and the random placement led to little strategies to keep the plates spinning.

Garden Guardian by LeYamez 2020-04-20T16:38:10Z

I really like the idea of flowers as tower defense towers, gives it a vibe of creating a garden while defending the base.

Hungy Hungy Dwagons by cheesepencil 2020-04-21T00:38:41Z

Really liked the dragon animations and noises, a simple setup but a lot of character.

Harvest Season by Devesh Sharma 2020-04-21T16:37:04Z

A unique and fun twist on the tower defense genre that really made you feel the struggle in keeping your garden alive. I like the balance between having to place cheap items and protecting them from the waves.

Save Dave by Kirbloid 2020-04-22T00:59:18Z

@thedashdude yeah, it's really interesting to see how people take to certain decisions either caused by not enough time, or not enough thinking. Like "wow I spent all these screens setting up the game but not one explanation on the minigames", but your suggestions would work really well, and i like the idea of an optional tutorial or test play of those mini games.

Keep the boat right by Kiddy 2020-04-21T01:01:33Z

Probably the most fun I've had with a game this compo, I loved the look of it and the physics-based gameplay.

The Cave by Gonzako 2020-04-24T00:20:26Z

I'm all for more exploratory type games that are meant to be about being lost in a place rather than a lot of traditional gameplay loops, so I very much enjoyed this. The 3D effect with the pixels, and the fading light created such a mood.

Memes Never Die by James_7777 2020-04-24T01:05:04Z

I'm always up for more metaphorical takes on this theme, and what really grounds this one is the player getting to create their own theme which is a really fun mechanic! The humor was well done and oozed from the way you handled the theme, and it was fun walking around to keep the meme alive.

Batteries Included by Michael Prentice 2020-04-20T16:27:47Z

A pretty creative take on being a source of power, and how that impacts platforming level design and the act of platforming itself. Really enjoyed playing through to the end and the clever uses of the mechanics to create challenge.

Carrying is Caring by Vederant 2020-04-30T02:04:11Z

A really polished look (i'm a sucker for the world style) and really fun/easy to play. I could imagine there's so many ways to go with the jar mechanic among the hectic gameplay, as fighting enemies took a lot of focus, which made me want to incorporate the jar as part of attacks or combos. But then again that might be missing the goal.

Power Glove by Prothean 2020-04-30T00:53:01Z

I really enjoyed the open world nature of this one, the almost quest feeling of it, and the way the theme and humor are used to give the player a reason to run around town. Playing it felt super solid with the right amount of jank an open world game should have, and you made the town feel pretty alive despite the limited time to put together this world.

Main suggestion would be to place a battery right near the starting point and generator so the player in-game knows how to power things and is given a little breathing room. Great job on the project!

Plant (Panic) by ETheBakeSmith 2020-04-25T23:34:18Z

I love it when audio is mixed up with the gameplay. Really enjoy the style of it, and hope that this being your first LD was a great learning experience!

Super Ultimate Wave Defender by zagony2613 2020-04-21T01:36:18Z

The graphics and gameplay stand out and are very polished. Played it for way longer than I was expecting.

Haiku, and the Mother Virus by Mister Morris Games 2020-04-20T16:53:46Z

Excellent style and visuals here with the use of colors and sound mixing together for a great mood. Enjoyed the hectic nature and the way it ramps up.

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-04-30T03:03:42Z

The humor helped elevate the mood a ton, and the clean graphics and style you chose, on top of a pretty clever setup, really came together even as I failed horribly multiple times. Great job!

Frost & Fire by Cryptomnesic 2020-04-24T00:30:16Z

It's the kind of concept my mind can race with all the ways you can further implement the theme into a full game. Making your own path is a lot of fun, and would be great to see reasons for taking different paths. Great job on bringing the theme out, and with the look and sfx of it.

Virtual Fish Tank by Jay Berlin 2020-04-22T01:56:25Z

There's something zen like to keeping care of virtual pets even when the theme does want to introduce the threat of death, and I really enjoyed keeping care of these little fish!

Human Apocalypse by Fathy Basha 2020-04-20T16:59:32Z

There's a lot to love here: the music, the pixel style, the mood of it, the way you use to camera to tell the story, and much more. Great job!

A usability comment: due to my red-green colorblindness I thought the main menu was stuck on just a wall for a good while until I realized there was a menu in there somewhere.

Dr. Statnil's Dodo Egg by Voidsay 2020-04-21T16:51:50Z

Fun use of physics and an actual ai opponent to play against. The theme came through with the egg volleyball as was very satisfying to launch the egg across the map to score the first point (after fumbling for 3 lost points)

Get To The Chopper! by DevParty 2020-04-22T01:36:27Z

Protecting the choppers was a lot of fun and game had a good look to it with the pixel art.

Harvest Season by singleshoe 2020-04-24T01:54:10Z

The graphics go a long way to communicate a lot of info clearly, and agree on the comfy card-game feel, as it led to having to make tough decisions on especially the early turns. Also I love Godot and it's great to see more games made with it, as it's perfect for jams.

Keep It Alive Game by ZerohBeat 2020-04-22T01:54:32Z

The intro was a really nice addition setting up the feel of the game.

campfire by jonah 2020-04-30T03:12:44Z

I live for games with this type of art! Very fun little game with real raised stakes and challenge, and played it for a bit. Took me back to the style of some of the games my parents used to play, but I definitely remembered fondly because of the style.

Keep It Pumping by Stevis93 2020-04-24T01:32:12Z

A pretty hefty theme, but the theme came through it, and I can appreciate the additional stress bubbled up through the gameplay and balancing mechanics. The graphics and mood helped bring the theme out, too.

Stand Still by Draelent 2020-04-21T16:46:23Z

Def understandable how the time can end up like that, but I'm glad you still finished and submitted a project for the jam! Was fun to play and try to keep the guy alive.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Toil of Pnamos by unpronounceable 2020-10-09T03:25:48Z

I kind of wish you had the humor category on because I would have easily rated it a five, but thankfully there were other things that nailed the categories too! I loved the art and sound design, and it made typing really fun and engaging. I could imagine how it could be enhanced with something like text-to-speak working on each finished phrase or when a word appears. Great style too!

BLOOP by danman9914 2020-10-06T21:55:27Z

Phenomenal stuff! The presentation and graphics were top notch along with the sound design. I love a gamejam entry that nails the theme from the get go, and the rapid introduction nailed it pretty quickly, and made me keep playing to see the beginning and ends of the loop. Just gotta say I love the art style a ton and makes me want to get better at having a style in my own projects.

Puzzle Pong by darthone 2020-10-05T22:37:08Z

A really relaxing puzzle with a satisfying gameplay loop of seeing the ball in action. The music helped with it feeling pretty chill, and the graphics helped keep everything readable and easy to navigate.

That Time I Was Held Hostage By Some Loop, So I Followed The Road And I Was Fine by alaah 2020-10-06T22:47:57Z

Your great game titles continue with this year's entry. I just love the pixel art here and the style of the characters and trees, and the voice acting was such a good addition. Totally anxiety-inducing when you get to later loops but really made me want to see how it'd escalate.

Around by mahalis 2020-10-09T03:28:23Z

What a great look and take on the theme! Really pops and pretty fun to play. Could see this greatly expanded too and left me wanting to play more.

Stuck on a Hyperloop by indigo 2020-10-05T22:08:09Z

Doing a 3D story-based godot game for the compo really is an undertaking, but I think it came out super polished, great looking, and great sounding, too. Playing it in the browser was a bit tough but worked fine when I downloaded it (at least that was my experience). Great job!

Ghosts in Limbo by tetha 2020-10-09T02:24:35Z

Loved this! The art was a lot of fun and the whole game and concept was a lot of fun to play. I'd much rather a fully realized game concept that doesn't overstay and leaves you wanting more. There was just so much charm here.

The Myth of Sisyphos by gilborn 2020-10-05T21:18:51Z

Surprisingly fun for what was meant to be eternal punishment. The additions each loop were fun, and that music loop was really well done alongside the other sound effects.

Lethal Loop by Chaosinism 2020-10-09T02:30:05Z

A really creative usage of the loop theme! It added a lot of strategy and was fun to try and wrap my mind around. The art was great and I appreciate all the systems in this compo working together. You can feel all the heart and energy that went into this entry.

Troubleshooter: A Drag and Drop Adventure by Phlip45 2020-10-09T03:35:10Z

The art style combo'd with the audio and voice acting made for a fun atmosphere. Really enjoyed my time with this and dug how it all came together and looked.

Keys and Goblins by FinalForeach 2020-10-05T20:49:02Z

I really liked a lot of the graphical elements here, from the sprites to the radial lighting and overall mood. Controls were very tight and I enjoyed the ability to zoom in and out. Could easily see pouring hours into a rogue-like or dungeon crawl with these controls and feel.

Hyperloop by jmoocow2003 2020-10-05T22:31:58Z

This was fun! The ship felt pretty hefty and I really dug the low-poly look, which 3D is always impressive to see in a compo and worked great here.

LoopyPong by Fenderbate 2020-10-09T03:03:20Z

Oh wow I really love this! The minimalist art and the creative mashing of pong with the theme was a lot of fun to play despite getting my butt kicked at first. Great job with this one, love pretty much everything about this.

The Ring Of Happiness by JulienLussiez 2020-10-06T22:26:36Z

Voxels! I can't understate how great and whimsical this looks, and even the little voxel box the story takes place in animates like it's caught in a loop. Also certainly the game that's best used the loop aspect as part of its humor.

Looping Meadows by Kirbloid 2020-10-05T17:04:40Z

Thanks @danman9914 and @lelulagames, I've made a rebalanced version that rewards the player for each step they make and rebalanced the costs/rewards a little, but in the spirit of the Ludum Dare itself I can't replace that for the entry.

If people are interested in the rebalanced version it can be found at https://kirbloid.itch.io/looping-meadows-rebalanced as it's just an experimental change but I don't think that's fair to replace the entry itself.

The Lost Frog by Lombax 2020-10-05T22:14:16Z

I like how due to the loop nature of the stage, future hazards are teased beforehand. The sprites were great between the level itself and the character. My biggest feedback would be since the wind-up of the jump matters, some sort of indicator of maximum height or "best jump" would go a long way.

The Loop by TheVideoGamester 2020-10-05T22:29:52Z

Love the characters and music while trying to do these puzzles. The narrative and character stuff worked well, especially as each character really stood out with their designs.

The experiment by Brice Mahier 2020-10-09T02:21:42Z

Sells its concept really fast and is immediately open to a bunch of ideas of how this jam game could explode out into a bunch of neat concepts. Great job!

Frozen Potency by Eugenik 2020-10-08T00:03:27Z

Hilarious take on being stuck in a loop that made me keep wanting to play. I enjoyed the mood a bunch and the physics-based gameplay kept it hectic and fun.

We need to talk by bereg 2020-10-08T00:12:02Z

It's the kind of games that makes you re-evaluate what it means to take on the theme of a game jam like this. Immediately clever, and metaphorical on different levels based on how much you want to read into it, but also touching to just play and has a lot of heart. On a more basic gameplay level using cards for dialogue is a lot of fun, too, but the initial impression it leaves is probably the most impressive I've seen of all the compo, so I really hope this wins.

Uncover The Loop by DevParty 2020-10-09T02:56:55Z

Really like the usage of clues as part of the game and the general look. Great job on the submission!

Work Sleep Repeat by Manspider 2020-10-09T03:26:50Z

Ooof too real. Really nails the mood!

Cotton Candy Dream by LelulaGames 2020-10-06T22:10:14Z

The colors and low poly look combine to make for a very visually appealing experience, and ball-rolling games are always a ton of fun to play. Worked pretty well in the browser too.

Loop Runners by schraf 2020-10-05T22:20:46Z

The opponent kicks my butt but that's okay because this game's music, sounds, and graphics are just so pleasant. The power ups and general bumpy-racing were a lot of fun and this game makes me wonder how so many kinds of other abilities and tracks could be done for it. Great job!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-09T02:40:51Z

A really cute entry! The sprite work was really fun, as fun as it was to explore around. Great job on the music too, fitting for a bard's tale!

While we are here - stuck in a loop by Seskon 2020-10-05T22:02:01Z

Very creative, immediately jumps out with its innovation and take on the theme, and plays up well to people who appreciate programming games, especially me.

Lovely Planet (Travel the World) by Elizir 2020-10-05T21:49:24Z

Takes me back to some classic games I spent too much time trying to get a score on. Really like the style and the literal loop it puts the player on. Could see how this could be expanded on and all the obstacles that could be added.

Vicious Circle by CameronOtten 2020-10-05T20:38:20Z

First game of the compo I've tried out today and I don't know how any other beats this one. The music and visuals combined in a very zen-like way, while the theme was brought out literally through the loops as well as the general gameplay of trying to raise out of the loops. I also liked the escalation as get farther away from the center of the level layerings.

Crawloop by SH80 2020-10-09T03:11:56Z

I really like these kind of graphics, there's something old-school about them, but in an old-school PC way and not 8bit Nintendo. Also a pretty good puzzle time alongside a good use of the theme!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Parasite by Thijs Tak 2021-04-29T19:14:21Z

I'm a real sucker for what 3D modelers can do for a compo, and everything in the style and graphics for this game worked so well alongside your take on the theme. Great job crafting a place fun to explore and a concept worth further exploring!

TRENCH by dirkinz 2021-04-27T21:19:13Z

Clever and held my attention through to the end! I think as a puzzle game its biggest success is learning through playing, down the nuance stuff of how to get through the levels. Great sign of good level design.

Hillside Choir of Death by Ranchoman 2021-04-28T00:22:36Z

Really cool idea for what a music game could be! I like how nabbing the last note feels, and sounds/graphics matched up pretty well. Definitely an idea that can go a ton of places and have a lot of twists on the gameplay.

Midniight by Ace17 2021-04-26T17:41:26Z

You used the visual style of the game to do the theme, but gotta say I really appreciate your sound design in the feeling of going "deeper and deeper" with each new layer you added. While I would say it always is a bummer to have to backtrack to the beginning of a game to pick up a missed collectable, without knowing how much I'd need, it says a lot that I actually spent the time and did, getting the ending. Great job!

Wiki Vortex by impbox 2021-04-29T19:26:23Z

This was extremely clever! Not to mention, a highly unique take on the theme and probably what makes these jams so much fun to check out: entries like this.

Boneitis - Quest for the Cure by patvanmackelberg 2021-04-29T19:36:48Z

Really ambitious going for the intro and story stuff, but also really appreciated and elevated it quite a bit. A funny concept to build on, and could see the gameplay/grind-loop being pretty addictive. As for feeling like $100,000 is a bit much to get for a quick playthrough, this might be editorializing but could have always made it so that that debt needed ticks up impossibly as you play.

Infinity Dive by keepee 2021-04-27T13:39:23Z

First game I've played this compo that really made me realize all the different ways the theme could have been taken and I've certainly played with this one the most. Really creative take, and the sound and visuals work so well together.

RAMnesia by 100th_Coin 2021-04-29T19:24:28Z

As many have said, outstanding work, and really impressive graphics that stand out as much as the puzzly mechanics. Ended up spending way more time playing than I usually tend to during rating binges, and I think that says a lot about how compelling it is as a game entry. Great work!

Saving Greg by LJFMX 2021-04-29T19:12:01Z

I really loved the 3D art and models! The world design especially was really impressive with the style of it. Great humor to this alongside its style.

LD48: Down the Rabbit Hole by LMB 2021-04-27T23:18:08Z

All for the risk-reward system, and I really appreciate the tutorial being inside the jam game. A fun mix of genres, too!

Go Deeper by Jeffez 2021-04-29T18:59:26Z

It's still really cool when you do the Ludum Dare and go for adding a soundtrack and such, because I think it still adds a lot to the game. This was pretty ambitious and I enjoyed the pixel art style. Great job on the entry!

DeBlockhas by Sode 2021-04-27T22:30:25Z

Good job hitting the theme of depth, I found the music catchy and had a good time trying to beat my score.

Oh No, My Ball!! by rhewid 2021-04-30T00:53:34Z

Fun and humorous premise that leads into a great compo entry game. Especially for a game jam it's so tough to get the controls to feel fun to the point where the player can feel skilled and tested and experiment a bit with it.

Hell Diver by MacDoom 2021-04-27T13:37:19Z

Loved it! Lots of fun playing it and an instant "feels good to play" feeling while sticking really well with the theme. Pretty funny with how the animations and sound effects work together.

Octopus Diver by Voxel Forest 2021-04-27T23:16:14Z

Love the art! The transition to deeper and deeper depths really came through, and the controls were fun to navigate. Really enjoyed the style you went for overall. My one point of feedback is that I wish new levels kept you at the same depth you ended on previously, but I totally understand with how the compo works, asset creation, especially the level you were aiming for (and nailed) would cut into programming/designing.

Deep into the mine by BubakGames 2021-04-29T18:57:24Z

Really cute style, and having the depth be the score is a nice touch and is a great way to want to try again to get deeper into the world.

The 13th Floor by ScalphaMission 2021-04-30T00:04:55Z

Really impressive use of 3D in the game and getting it all working together. Felt really good to play and a good mix of sounds and music added.

Memory Dive by Kirbloid 2021-04-26T13:17:25Z

@eeperdeheap I'll definitely keep an eye out for that bug and fix it if I can. The user should be able to just hit X any time the text is in the dialog box. I imagine my game states are somehow getting scrambled during gameplay.

@bw-devel Sprite animations and advancing dialog were in the "stretch goals" but oof, sometimes I wish the compo was 3 days instead. Thanks for the feedback, I didn't even consider idea of adding in a memory log but that makes perfect sense. Also I could have probably kept the longer memories shorter or split them into different sections due to the lack of time they're on screen.

Underground Chaos by Lombax 2021-04-26T18:31:05Z

There was a lot of charm in the sprites and animations, and the wall walking/digging really throws you for a loop of what digging "deeper" is. Really impressive for the scope of the compo!

Archeo by zimny11 2021-04-30T00:08:39Z

This was really creative and I haven't seen a game tackle the theme with archeology yet! The graphics read really well and the music matches the tone. Really glad the player can dig multiple places at once, gave it a good pace and really felt like you were discovering as you were digging deeper.

Tunnel Rats by GeneralSturgeon 2021-04-29T19:41:47Z

This was fantastic! I appreciated the opening explanation, which went over the controls and how to play, but gave room to the player to explore how to play well and get a higher score as they flew deeper. The graphics were especially good and oozed style, and the way your created depth popped out of the screen the moment the game officially started.

Little Shade's Big Adventure by Paul Merkamp 2021-04-30T00:38:48Z

Really charming pixel art! Really enjoyed the way the art and music came together, and built a ton of atmosphere, where the story and mood felt like they were getting deeper as it went on. Great job!

Space Jump by Gaminghamster 2021-04-26T18:53:27Z

Wonderful music and look to it, easy to play and figure out fun strategies for. Good job!

R.E.M. - Vocab Nightmare by Smooches 2021-04-26T17:25:52Z

Clever and creative take on word games for the jam's theme! As you got deeper into the game I enjoyed how the mechanics started layering on the difficulty naturally. Was fun to try to skirt around the words available and it was able to handle me trying to cheat pretty well and punish me for it. Excellent sound design. The music and effects mixed well.

To The Core by Pe7e 2021-04-30T00:22:03Z

A unique take on the deeper theme, using drone programming to progress deeper through trial and error. I got caught up on the initial turn for a few moments, thinking I had to start with "down" but whoops that's just a tired brain. I really liked the look of the world and the robots, it oozes with style.

Botanica by FDK 2021-04-26T19:09:12Z

Death physics were such a nice touch. I enjoyed that as you got deeper into the forest, the mechanics and danger became deeper as well.

Blue Square and the Mystery Cave by asdehielo 2021-04-29T18:53:46Z

This one was very much a treat and a very enjoyable platformer about going deeper into a level. I liked that the mechanic of the orb-shooting/bouncing really mixed well with the theme and exploration, and kept interest through all the layers you added. Getting to the end was a lot of fun and that says a lot about a LD entry. Favorite part was def the final sections as it fully realized the creativity of the mechanic.

Click Miner by rjmusic87 2021-04-28T00:17:02Z

Lots of charm between the premise and music!

Annoying falling game by TomH1 2021-04-27T21:02:47Z

Could totally see myself spending many a work meeting playing this on the Android. Imagine if the box bounced even more and was even more annoying, it could be a real test of patience and control/dodging

LD53 — Delivery

Air Delivery by pianoman373 2023-05-04T16:14:25Z

Saw that pico png and knew I was in for a good time, and I was right! Solid controls, a really charming style and music, and all the sound effects just hit. Amazing to put together a mini-metroidvania for a Ludum Dare Compo, great job!

▲●■♚ by Jimbly 2023-05-03T03:29:53Z

This one is right up my alley and really nails the theme in a unique way I haven't seen yet. I appreciate that you give room to experiment and not be punished for it, and played this for quite a bit.

Fast Parcel Service by clemall 2023-05-06T17:49:26Z

One of my favorite games this jam and probably going to be one of my highest rated. Immediately accessible, fun, funny, and easy to play, while nailing the theme and being unique with your take on it for the jam. Great job! The sound effects especially cracked me up.

Ooober Cookies by notime4games 2023-05-19T19:22:10Z

The minimalist style works so well for the compo, and it played pretty smoothly. There's a lot of systems going on here that all work together. Great job!

Delivery Doggo by Bitzawolf 2023-05-03T02:33:19Z

The art style did so much to bring the theme out, especially loved the jumping pose. Really easy to play and the jumping felt good.

Caretaker of the Scrap-Valley by fusionnist 2023-05-03T02:51:02Z

Playing through this game was an adventure on its own of discovering its scope. Seeing the breadth of gameplay mechanics get tutorialized very naturally left a big impact, and the music and minimalist art style really set a mood. Fantastic entry and so well thought out and made!

Rollin Express by yellow attic 2023-05-03T03:36:54Z

Controls took a little bit to get used to but honestly felt like breaking in a skateboard! The art and style were so charming and the gameplay was a fun take on breakout mixed with the theme. Fantastic sense of style here for the jam!

Rhythmic Courier by Colin Misbach 2023-05-06T19:32:13Z

I really liked the rhythm game at the end of every delivery. Even though I skipped the instructions accidentally everything felt intuitive and was able to play and have a good time. The audio worked really well and it felt like I could stay on rhythm during each stage.

City Transport Ordeal by LCStark 2023-05-06T18:59:38Z

Really nailed the physics of driving a hulking real life truck from a top down view. Feels solid to play and navigate around the city while learning little ins and out of the driving to better take corners and nail some of those tough delivery points.

Space Delivery by Kirbloid 2023-05-03T03:16:20Z

@blue-pin-studio Thanks for the feedback. I could have been a LOT more clearer that the shift key is used to speed up the rotation and that it's intentional you don't have to match, you just get a better score. I think the one thing I learned the most this time around is how important it is to be clear with the controls and goals of the game and to not take that for granted.

Dingsi by maxi1324 2023-05-03T03:23:29Z

Great world and creature design! Immediately felt like a pretty polished 3D game with a lot of systems in it from the start all working together.

CropCopter by Douwe_Ravers 2023-05-03T03:00:53Z

The feeling of controlling a drone came across really well. Appreciate the in-game menu for the game explanation and once you get the hang of it, really easy to play. Flying around the levels was the best part!

DEVILivery by Blue Pin Studio 2023-05-04T16:27:23Z

Wow, the style and mood of this fires off on all cylinders from the get go. Really fun to play and a lot of the elements really came together! I really enjoyed the graphics and style of it and it really feels like a team effort where every piece of the project really stood out between the systems, sounds, and art.

Toad Pizza Express by Nazorus 2023-05-10T19:41:39Z

Instantly fell in love with it from the art alone and then solidified that with the gameplay. So much charm in this one and feels so polished!

Pizza Xpress by PerfectSquare 2023-05-06T18:52:27Z

There's a lot I could say about how fun it was, the graphics and gameplay being solid, and overall how it just works for the theme and as a good time, but I think all I really need to say is how GOOD you nailed the feeling of doing a donut in some suburban driveway just to launch a pizza in the right direction. That's what really matters.

Crazy Post Office by ZenBreaker 2023-05-10T19:22:01Z

Took me back to some classic games. Played really solidly in the browser too and was easy to jump in and start playing. Great choice for how to tackle the theme in an immediately fun and engaging way.

Reloot by orbitaldot 2023-05-03T03:13:30Z

The most impressive compo I've seen yet both gameplay wise with its take on the theme and especially the graphics. Played through it to the end because the twist was that clever. Great job pulling it all together. The music was especially a standout as much as the art was.

The Beer Street by Kreshi 2023-05-19T19:25:08Z

There was a lot of care piled into the mood and graphics of this game, and it made it really enjoyable to sit down with and play a bit. Your sense of style is really enjoyable.

Codename: STORK by Matt Green 2023-05-06T18:07:12Z

The gameplay and UI were really intuitive and in many ways it's my favorite kind of gamejam (compo game especially) where not only does it immediately feel engaging but you can see a lot of possibilities. I like that the tutorial was part of the gameplay and once the game was in place all the sound effects and graphics really sold it. Shout out the UI too!

Grocery store by dUmMy432 2023-05-19T19:23:48Z

Pretty addicting jumping into this. The graphics work for getting into the action quick and readability.

Vanslaughter Inc: Extreme Parcel Service by Alec Cunningham 2023-05-03T02:41:25Z

The initial reaction was surprise how the game felt like it was flying apart but turns out that was intentional and added a lot of fun to the presentation and gameplay. At first I was bit unsure about the lack of feedback for deliveries being made but it was clear fast that was also part of the fun of it and added to the humor of it. Great job putting together a 3D game and showing off that blender can be a full on game engine.

Lil' Death by ASilvers 2023-05-04T16:37:30Z

Loved the style and mood of this! It's always great seeing a solid entry in 3D for a compo, and the character was so well done and the game fun to play.

Alien Elevator by nhcarter123 2023-05-03T02:23:08Z

Great job with combining the theme, art, sounds, and tying them all together with some fun gameplay! The additional rules added to the stress in a good way without being overwhelming. The controls were very smooth while playing and the theme jumped out with the gameplay.

Sambar Scamper by Daniel Gelband 2023-05-04T16:24:26Z

Big fan of games with simple premises you instantly get that keep your playing for a bit trying to do better. The early stacks give a good false sense of security and the risk quickly ramps up. A fun time and the sprite work was really nice for the levels and side view!
