LD47 — Stuck in a loop

St. Exton's Night by aurel 2020-10-27T12:12:42Z

Lovely looking game with a great theme. Really big scope for such a short amount of time though haha. Nicely done but maybe a gameplay tutorial would be a bit more helpful to get to grips with the game.

Dante Slumbers by Jimbly 2020-10-07T13:18:19Z

This was a very fun game to play with nice art and music. I only had time for 4 levels but had a blast nonetheless... and blasted a bunch of asteroids with my plane too. Really need to check up on the cat, I am not sure if its sleeping or its dead i mean he has got to be a good sleeper if he can take 18+ hits without waking up! Great job with this entry, especially for the compo!

Dante Slumbers by Jimbly 2020-10-07T16:50:33Z

@jimbly Makes sense, its like trying to get back in the sleep zone! Oh and yeah I figured level 1 was my only chance haha

Ghosts in Limbo by tetha 2020-10-05T16:02:29Z

This was very fun to play with a nice implementation of the theme. I wish there were more levels

Though for some levels I kinda missed the whole course as the solution could be done way simpler (like in the last level I only used 2 tiles). and missed the whole left side.

The circled elements are the ones I put in.

Great job and good luck!

Moby's Trip by blaster391 2020-10-07T22:00:26Z

Nice synthwave feel to this game! Love the deja vu meme reference! As for the game it was very nice to play and looked crisp with fitting audio. The only thing I did not understand was the reason to speed up as the score seemed milage based not speed based. Either way this was a great 3-day jam game so well done team, the effort was definitely worth it!

Suit Loop by Greytyphoon 2020-10-11T16:20:47Z

Giving me windows spider solataire vibes from my childhood with the cards! Very innovative game I have to say well done on making all the rules and making it work. I had a lot of fun playing though 5:09 is quite slow for a win

Bloody Baron by Jegus9 2020-10-05T15:33:05Z

Damn it John, I should have caught you earlier! Loved the game, very intrigueing and fun. I love among us and had a go at danganrompa so i see what you are going with.

If you choose to expand this game then I would love to see more ways of finding out the killer as it was kinda luck at times.

Great job though, its been a while since I played an enticing text based adventure! Well done!

Bloody Baron by Jegus9 2020-10-05T17:50:32Z

@Jegus9 that sounds like a great combo haha. I loved perfect bluff and the one for finding out the last 3 steps. They helped a lot.

Kill the Player by c1tr00z 2020-10-05T18:09:28Z

Very nice litte game with a cool concept of being a lowly creature that the player just kills. Was very fun to play and its a nice twist on the general theme. Well done!

Stuck in a loop-Puzzle Game by Tayfun 2020-10-06T16:40:59Z

This was a very fun puzzle game to play! I enjoyed the programming reference (never do while true haha) and the gameplay was solid. Definitely lots of potential with new levels like others have said and adding music would give it that techy feel even more! Great job!

Too Hot to Handle by TheMoonrise 2020-10-07T00:27:28Z

I am with @wiredsound I had collected all the resources and was about to make the parts. Really fun game with a solid message. I had a blast playing it and am surprised you managed all this in such a short time period, well done!

Purgatory Hospital by riwmd 2020-10-11T16:10:49Z

This was a spooky experience, perfect for October! :ghost: Gotta say that the reaper was terrifying at first though after dying a lot he became my bro! Great experience though unforgiving, maybe checkpoints would be nice as it was sometimes annoying dying to some explosive wall that you can only memorise. Great job on this game!

Stuck in the Office by BobParis75 2020-10-05T22:31:24Z

Lovely little game with great mood and fitting music and visuals. I had a blast trying my luck at the different puzzles!

One improvement I would have is to add coyote/hang time to the jumping as it was a bit annoying when you would just walk off the edge and it makes you fall despite pressing the jump button.

Great job on this game, very nicely done in such a short time limit! Well done!

Mel's Bells by Pizzasgood 2020-10-08T13:00:14Z

Great game, had an amazing time playing it! Definitely suck at inverting the tones in the time limit though. Good job!

Suicidal Boyfriend by Federico Giorgi 2020-10-06T00:42:33Z

Damn, you guys really set the tone with this one. Its very dark. I love how you guys did the gameplay and the audio plus the storytelling was very interesting! The clues are either obvious (like kurt kobain or car sound) or very hard to spot (like the toast on the floor or the cross in the corner). Really you guys made a great game and I managed to get the happy ending which is a plus!

I really hope nobody has to go through suicide or dealing with it like Phoebe though and support is always available for anybody having negative thoughts.

Although this was a serious game, I did find that among us reference in the loading screen about a dead body found so nice try to add that in haha. Also I believe I saw an Inception reference with the spinning top next to the bed so I was very happy you guys made that a thing in the dream/nightmare.

I would however kinda let the player know where the different "weapons" are as I did not know that a mirror was an overdose and I only chose it by process of elimination. Also why is the bible a weapon? I do not understand as I spotted the cross in the corner and saved Joey.

Overall, this game is very well done with a serious tone (and jokes in the loading screens) and the storytelling is great for a 3 day entry. I loved the references and enjoyed the experience a lot. Well done team, very strong entry.

Suicidal Boyfriend by Federico Giorgi 2020-10-06T00:54:28Z

@bakemonomori I always love subtle references and easter eggs in games! Oh and I love Inception and Among Us so it helped.

Anomaly Loop for Ludum Dare 47 by Nick Urs 2020-10-05T22:14:01Z

"F..ck! Where am I?" - Best start to a jam game I've played!

I really liked the art style you went with though I did not know what the game was and how the theme worked. You did say you spent only 3h on it so I understand its a pain getting anything to work. Definitely interested to see where you would take this given more time.

Good Luck and nice prototype!

InYourFaceABook by RGilPT 2020-10-07T11:52:22Z

This is a very unique kind of game, I have not seen anything like it. I really enjoyed playing it though it took some time to understand (the tutorial you put on this page helped a lot). Gotta say that the spooky music fit the theme of fake news. Oh and I think one of these profiles is illuminati confirmed

inyourfaceabook.JPG

Great job!

Meteoroboros by Gogani 2020-10-07T17:14:29Z

This was so well done, the game was amazing, great visuals and a lot of polish. Well done on this entry!

The Ring Of Happiness by JulienLussiez 2020-10-05T22:06:09Z

@mikoziq, perfect timing just went on the page and was about to ask when you commented.

[SPOILER] As for the game, it was very short but I loved the humor, the trippy mushroom or the victory for not taking the ring were nice touches. The blocky art style was nicely done too and fit very well.

In my opinion it just needs some music in the background to set the mood.

Great job though, I really liked what you have done in the 2 days! Well done!

One Minute Army by Bob174 2020-10-07T17:40:31Z

This game was very nicely done, I love how you need to work with your past self on the puzzles. Such a great mechanic. Definitely had a lot of fun playing this, great job. One thing to note is music would be nice to have.

Machine_loop by Bjoern 2020-10-05T17:32:17Z

Hey man you only put the .exe in the download but need all the build files for it to work. I would zip all the files and put them on itch! Good luck!

The Ribbon by Fax 2020-10-07T12:00:57Z

This game feels so good to play, well done! I am amazed at how much you did in such a short time span. I really enjoyed that level where you were chased by the lasers and had to think on the spot but each level had its own identity which is something I really like. Well done!

The Ribbon by Fax 2020-10-07T13:00:43Z

@fax 3 hour game jam?! That is crazy, exporting and making the game page takes like 1h for me.

The Ribbon by Fax 2020-10-07T13:52:23Z

@Fax still impressive though! You must be a pro by now!

The Ribbon by Fax 2020-10-07T16:32:05Z

@fax might have a go at it after I rest from this jam! Is it on itch.io?

DooooG by Marco Marchitelli 2020-10-11T12:49:55Z

Really cute little game, poor doog has to chase his tail for eternity! I really enjoyed the experience and the game worked fluently when I played it. Lovely art too! Would be nice to have some audio if you update it in the future. Great job team!

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-07T17:20:52Z

Really well done game, simple visuals work very well here and the game, like others said, could go on mobile! I would personally love some music but that is just a preference over a necessity.

Epsilon - 2D Atmospheric Platformer by Sherwin Claridge 2020-10-09T13:26:42Z

Saw this on reddit a few days back, really well done on the art and the mood in this game it is very well polished. Nice use of the theme too and very fitting ambient music. Gameplay was solid too though the grab was a bit buggy at times but really great job on this jam!

Work Sleep Repeat by Manspider 2020-10-05T17:45:41Z

This was a very dystopian idea. The thank you for your TIME really hits hard for many people stuck in the loop in real life. What a surreal experience, interesting take on the theme.

CycleCycle by colejparker 2020-10-05T17:55:31Z

Nice vaporwave feel, you nailed the mood! I had some fun playing this coop too but would be more accessible with some sort of singleplayer as not everyone has a partner and has to fight themselves for the win

Good job!

Hudson by Dharby 2020-10-07T11:26:37Z

This was such a good entry, I loved it! The art and music went very well together and the gameplay was very interesting with the HUD. I did find it quite hard but found that sacrificing a bit of health for the upgrades was worth it just to get the key. Great job on this it was very fun to play!

Screenshot (14).png

Hudson by Dharby 2020-10-07T17:28:42Z

@Dharby Definitely worked out how you planned! Btw you said its procedural music? That is something I have never seen before, sounds awesome!

Life is Loop by 4got10 2020-10-07T12:10:13Z

Solid game for the compo! I found the time limit very intense which was well done (unless you wanted it to be more chill). I did find the first resource confusing but I realised that it was getting dark and my minecraft instincts kicked in so I went back to the hut. Very nice game with lovely visuals and fitting music. Well done for getting this done in 2 days!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-05T14:21:05Z

@jegus9 Thanks so much! I really appreciate that you enjoyed my music and most importantly the art which took a lot of time so I'm glad it paid off!

Now the blank box would usually have resolutions in it but since you played the web build it cannot access monitor resolutions and leaves it blank, not sure how to fix yet.

As for the items, I could not replicate them respawning when leaving the room only when the player runs out of time (which I should have stated in the game) and loops back to the start of the day (hence the theme) but I will look into it a bit more to try and come up with a fix but it may just be the buggy web build which I need to take down.

Finally, yes, the dialougue should have come up without typing as it does take a while sometimes. Also the story dialogue takes forever to kick in (like 3 or so seconds) which is also not ideal.

Glad you spent some time checking it out and good luck in the jam!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-05T21:45:56Z

@colejparker Thanks for giving my game a go! Glad you enjoyed the spin on the theme!

I see where you are coming from, I definitely didnt think of this when I made the level. Definitely will update this once the compo voting is done!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-06T10:24:10Z

@sop-the-turtle Thank you so much, it means a lot!

I'm very happy that you enjoyed the game and creative direction I went for. The 48h time limit really was tough as I had to rush the finished product and not expand the quests to be more interesting than just fetching but I definitely want to bring out some updates post jam to fleshen out the game a bit.

Appreciate the kind feedback!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-06T10:26:47Z

@dharby Thank you very much! I spent a good while on the art so I am extremely happy you like it! I agree some tiles are very high contrast like the bricks for example but I'm hopefully improving over time haha.

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-06T10:32:53Z

@rgilpt Thank you! I really appreciate you like my work, I am so happy those 2 very long days were spent well! Honestly, the theme idea came to me randomly and I though it was alright but nothing special so I am over the moon that so many of you like it!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-06T10:35:45Z

@tayfun Thank you, you are too kind! I really appreciate you spent some time on my little project, I never knew others would enjoy it as much as I do so thanks for being part of it! I really cannot express how much this means to me! Enjoy the rest of the jam! :joystick:

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-06T17:31:33Z

@blobo  8h sleep for 2 days had its toll on me, I'm surprised that was the only one. Oh and I just ran out of time to add a timer, everything is set up for it too! I am very happy you liked the game though and thanks for the feedback!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-07T00:32:21Z

@Jimbly Thanks, glad you enjoyed! The repetition is intentional as part of the theme but I do see why it would get a bit irritating. As for the mouse controls, I definitely agree with more keyboard control over the mouse, I will work on that post jam for sure, thanks! The timer idea was in the mix but I just ran out of time to implement it! I'm very happy you liked the art and music too, it was something I worked a while on.

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-07T10:21:57Z

@fax Glady you like it! I am very sorry that the controls broke and the music duplicated. I will definitely look into it as I have not ran into these problems yet so thank you for letting me know! I hope the experience was not all buggy.

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-07T16:26:01Z

@judgezedd Thank you so much, I am so happy the story was enticing and you enjoyed the experience! A lot of work went into this so I am over the moon that you liked what I made. The polish still needs polishing though, especially UI!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-07T16:28:33Z

@leora Thank you! Glad you like the art, it took a long time! I am sorry the inputs bugged out, I will definitely fix that post jam so thanks for pointing it out.

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-07T19:29:37Z

@john-gabriel yeah the art and story took a while though for the 2 days I didn't really know what else to implement apart from some fetch quests. Definitely would be better to to have other quests though I agree, maybe some puzzles?

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-08T10:35:41Z

@pizzasgood Thank you, glad you enjoyed! I agree with you about the dialogue its kinda trippy. I was thinking to even delete the effect because the game is time based. Thanks for checking it out!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-08T10:37:54Z

@bredera Thank you very much, I worked hard to make it visually appealing! As for the E interactions, they seem to be a bit slow on some runs and I'm not sure why. It was my first time doing dialogue though so I definitely will try and polish my skills. Happy jamming!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-08T11:06:58Z

@lid Thank you very much, it means a lot! I really wish I had implemented a day timer to give the player a better experience and some idea of how long they have left. Also, I agree about the dialogue. Will definitely be removing the typing of the letters to give it a better feel.

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-08T11:11:07Z

@letterafterz I apologise for that. I have not seen that error yet, all I know is that the story text stays around for a short while (10-30s I can't remember) before letting you play the main game. I have just released proper Mac and Linux releases if that would help (I did not realise the others were not suitable). Hope it works if you give it another go!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-09T10:54:10Z

@kirbloid thank you so much! Glad you liked my entry, definitely worth the grind to get the art and music right.

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-10T14:37:19Z

@ramble-house-games Thank you so much, I love making pixel art so I kinda went overboard. Glad you enjoyed though!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-11T12:59:16Z

@cargamoni Thank you! Means a lot! I will check out your game too!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-11T13:03:19Z

@greytyphoon Thank you very much! I am happy it was a good experience. As for polish yep definitely needs a lot more. I was meant to have a timer which tells you how long till a reset but I could not finish implementing it before the deadline. I see what you mean with Half-Minute Hero, I have not heard of it it but looking at the steam page really does bring about similarities.

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-11T13:07:47Z

@skyvastern Thanks so much batman! I am so happy you enjoyed it and got to the end! I have to thank you for the bug report too as I just realised what it would be. The game resets you but since you were interacting the game has its player controls jammed so you cant walk away from the interaction making it impossible to move. Gotta fix that after the voting period. Happy jamming!

The Bards Tale by CursedSoldier 2020-10-12T09:10:40Z

@sanojian Thank you very much! Definitely wanted to add more but it was very tough for the compo but glad you enjoyed the art and music!

Merry-Go-Madness and The Claw Of Survival by LetterAfterZ 2020-10-09T13:32:22Z

Very nice and funny game, love how the babies steal your food! Art style is very polished too and the game feels smooth and works well. Definitely a good entry for the jam!

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-07T17:26:37Z

Really nice game! The visuals are on point, the music is very fitting and the gameplay is easy to understand but hard to master. Very well done though I do not see the point of going super fast apart from just wanting to throw your whole crowd out the ride!

Dwarven Delve by fronwewq 2020-10-05T23:51:17Z

This is very addictive and fun!

I love the gameplay and the new twist on the genre. The graphics work nicely together and you have some cute music though after a while it gets repetitive haha.

Great job on this entry, amazing work for the compo, definitely would be interested to see new levels. Well done!
