The idea is cool and i really like the animations of UI. Good job.

The style and idea are very nice The game starts very abrubt though, i had to try ~10 times to find out how not to go bankrupt.

Lovely idea, well executed for a first try! Nice dude!

If you don't mind me giving a few pointers, not to hurt any feelings but to keep in mind for further versions: - The whole selling of plants is a little vague to me, didn't really understand when I could make money with selling plants. - Sometimes I couldn't plant, even though I had money. Maybe I was doing something weird, who knows... - It would be nice to be able to reset the game from within the game, without refreshing the page. It's fine for now but maybe for another time!

Well done again on your first completion! Big victory!

Mede Nederlander! ;-)

The UI is fun and theme really does come through with the environment and setup. I'll echo that it's a little tough to get started but when you do it plays pretty smoothly. Sort of fits into the whole theme, too, that way.

Very well done for a first try! Like mentioned before the plant selling option is a bit confusing as I didn't know how I could make money at first. Other than that great execution.

Hey great job on your first LD! Impressively detailed, I found it a bit tough to figure out how to not fail but I like the concept a lot and the art is cute too. :)

I had a really hard time understanding the gameplay. Some more and more clear instructions would have helped,

Well done!

I liked the idea. The UI was really nice too. The game would have been fun. I had too many placement issues though - I couldn't complete it.

I couldn't place a second round of cactus. A few times, I still could plant palm trees.

All in all, nice first game.

I had a hard time understanding the gameplay too. But the graphisms and the small touch of humour were nice !

Maybe you should put factual numbers instead of just dollars sign when buying somethin.

It's still an awesome job for a first game, good job !

Thank you all for your comments and feedback. I have updated the "how to play?" page and increased the starting capital a little. Hopefully now it's more fun and less of a headache to start.

very good game, looks beautiful, good idea. By the way, my game also touches a little on environmental issues :).

Was definately hard to grasp how to not go broke. If it wasn't for the comments here I would have never figured it out. I'd definately say you should add more clarity on that and how to play in general. I like the art as those cactuses are adorableeee. Another thing to add would be the costs of the plants and how the wells etc. cost money over time as well. (maybe on hover?)

Great job on completing a Compo game though! You did great!

Nice game! I really like the idea of your game! It's pretty interesting! I want more levels!

djee 2019-10-10 19:31

This is a very good idea, but hard to grasp at first, and pretty hard to play from the start.

Pros: - Good game mechanics - Decently usable UI

Cons: - Lack of music/sfx - A bit hard at the beginning, could have slowed down the timer to start - Lack of explanation of the selling system

Congrats on the first entry! 👍

I like the games idea! Your game is really fun and simple! I would suggest maybe to make the beginning a bit easier, other than that, the game is awesome!

jahwffrey 2019-10-11 17:56

Hey! I know alot of the comments here are similar to this one, but I really wasn't able to figure the game out. I'm certain there's a really cool game here but I'm not able to play it the way you do because I can't find the game within all the icons and symbols. Conveyance is key - and the 'How to Play' section didn't convey to me how to actually play the game very well. That said, this is really impressive for a first ever finished game, keep up the good work!

Hey, coming back to say that I watched your video and now kindof understand it enough to get somewhere, but my comment above still stands: there's an ironclad that I myself and guilty of forgetting too many times to count: Nobody Reads The Description. If the game doesn't guide you through how to play it in small steps right from the beginning, a tragicaly large number of people will simply give up and never experience all the effort you put in. I hope to see more work from you in future jams, keep it up!

Thank you all for the feedback espesially you @jahwffrey I didn't know that. That is something to remember for the future.
