Definately loved the humor! I knew I had to play this one all the way through after stuggling to get that bed in beginning! Amazing art and love the menu's/UI. It's all really well thought out. For sure my highest rated game of the jam so far! Love it!
Only thing I dislike is the lack of audio (Glad you opt'd out) and that your NOT gonna add more stuff to it. :c
Definately love the art. I think you should add puzzles or enemies to make it more of a challenge and not just a chore! Love it!
I like the idea of the hacking! However I realized I couldn't die! Also I recieved an error after completion (Screenshot below) on my first play as I did another to ensure that I reached the end and didn't magically die, because again I didn't shoot.Untitled.png
Wished there was music! No idea how this correlates to the theme however..
Great start though and be proud you finish a Compo entry! Congrats man!
Mana never regenerates, and I personally couldn't get further than slime both tries. Getting blood took me a minute to figure out how to do as well, that along with mana led to a little bit of frustration :p . Absolutely LOVE the artstyle and alchemy theme!!!!! The game looks beautiful should be proud of that. Love the Alchemy symbol 'cutscene' thing as well! Would absolutely love to see you expand more on it however!
Absolutely enjoyed it! Loved the pretty art, was simple and enjoyable to play. Took me about 4 tries to get the max everything. Loved the very serene yet simple music, and just the whole calm atmosphere of the game. Great work!
Would like to see it expanded apon!
Definately loved the art! Best retro styled game I've seen so far in the jam. Only complaint would be maybe making the jump swing a little easier to pull off on the keyboard but honestly all that took was practice! Really fun and enjoyable with a charming artstyle! Love it!
Really loved the game man! I think you should continue to add more levels to it and make some awesome graphics. I think the concept would make a great game. It just makes me want more puzzles to solve!
Overall this is in my top 3 fun games I've played of the jam!
I died on October 7th :C
It was cool seeing something different from everything else. However I will say that if your entry's main selling point is it being an interactable story then you should probably make sure the spelling's correct and that proper grammar is used! Emoji's were kinda iffy on me as well. Also lots of repeating the same questions.
It was a good attempt though! Congrats on the Compo entry!
Definately enjoyed this one a ton. I would work on the platforming bits to make them a little better. The final stage was a little tricky to get to the top corner maybe extend it over slightly. Overall though was a very fun and challeging game!
Absolutely loved the baroque song for the game. You absolutely killed it man!!
Wished the line while drawing was kind of bigger or that you could change the color of the lines. Also there seems to be a issue sometimes moving and it not drawing anything! I found it pretty frustrating at times and sadly gave up drawing my masterpiece.. :c
I to thought the controls were a little odd as well but after reading the comment above this one I think you definately made the right choice! I like the homage to the original Etch-a-Sketch however I will add that I to did find it a little odd. Maybe add an option to pick controls?
Loved it overall! Was a good project! Congrats again on finishing a compo project!
I absolutely love some of your 3D models (Like all the trees and the adorable killer Turtle!)
That being said this game was extremely frustrating to try to play. I think you tried taking on to much personally rather than trying to make it a little more polished. Regardless you did a good job and would love for you to keep building on it!
The absolute biggest thing to improve on was the movement. Being a core part of any platformer this should feel the most solid. While not super important I'd think about making a proper dialog box. Maybe even adding mouse control for the camera while still using WASD to move. That'll even allow you to use the mouse buttons for Q & E as well. And if the player doesnt want to use the mouse they still have the WASD but I believe that will help players immensely!
Love the concept! I was actually afraid I was doing the whole thing wrong at first! I thought everything had to be connected as one piece and was actually getting upset I couldn't make the number three on the third constellation! On that note I also thought I was supposed to make it the number the constellation was, like 1 was supposed to look like 1 and so on, which again was why I found three so infuriating
I wish there was audio (You exempted from it, don't worry I didn't grade you harder for it). Also wish there was more spacey stuff like a UFO, planets, or even worlds in the background! :alien:
Loved the concept however and love that there's not a defined concept of winning or losing. I too look forward to seeing everyone's creative constellations here in the comments!

Really enjoyed playing the game! That third or fourth level was an absolute spawn of the devil however (Starts with the two rows of saws, then goes into the 5 or 6 cops :cop:). I would say it took about 17 mins for me to go through it and I enjoyed it to a good extent.
I was able to go through a wall on the second level after the spikes but before the cop however which made me restart. :c
I unfortunately did not get a screenshot of that however.
Enjoyed the "ending" holy egg paradise! :egg: :egg: :egg:
Great pixel art! Clarity was great. Love the synth tones for the music as well!
I suggest that on the beginning of each level you save how many eggs you entered that level at and then on death, spawn with the eggs you started with. It felt bad having a bunch of eggs just to lose them like that. :c
I feel pretty accomplished on beating this one. You did a fantastic job! :chicken: :egg: :chicken: Untitled.png
The boss is one tough cookie! Enjoyed chatting with you on discord! This projects really well made! The first stage is definately rough! (I personally liked it, but I know everyone has different tastes on that subject)
Only personal gripe was having to re-grab the torch, burn the wood, grab the sword, go to the altar, just to try to fight the boss again. Very minor but a VERY nice QoL change for people having issues on the boss.
Very well made guys!!
I really liked the calmness and simpleness of the audio. The energy circling was a very nice touch. Can't tell you how many times I got hit because of that! Was simple, yet enjoyable! The general mood/atmosphere would have to be my favorite thing. Very calm.
Got to Level 3 before I called it quits. Would also like to see maybe an energy gauge for the boosting or even a boosting sound effect that plays while you boost!
Great job!
Also this happened when I hit level 1! No idea if it's intentional or not but everytime I see a bug I screenyUntitled.png
Was definately hard to grasp how to not go broke. If it wasn't for the comments here I would have never figured it out. I'd definately say you should add more clarity on that and how to play in general. I like the art as those cactuses are adorableeee. Another thing to add would be the costs of the plants and how the wells etc. cost money over time as well. (maybe on hover?)
Great job on completing a Compo game though! You did great!
Pretty simple. I found the dialog to be nice and pretty humorous. Also love the way it ends simple with nothing exactly the way it said. That being said I unfortunately didn't find it that fun and got through it absurdly fast (Expecially with there not be a whole lot of content). The dialog box's was the majority of the time playing. I will say however that you did a good job on the dialog and dialog boxes! Also I love the simple art style.
You did good man! Im glad and proud that you did and submitted a Compo game! Compo game's are rough man, be proud of yourself for doing a good job as not a lot of people can even submit a Compo game! Can't wait to see your next Ludem Dare project!
@sode I have actually made it to where there is always a correct answer on the board! Sometimes a font can be a little misleading unfortuantely but I never pinned down exactly which one. Always look at the problem if you have issues figuring it out.
I'll try take a look at your game soon!
@congusbongus I'm glad someone liked the music I had only spent an hour on all the audio! Being primarily an audio guy, this made me sad. Was my first Ludem Dare and I only picked up learning Unity at the beginning of this year! So I learned a whole lot from this project! Maybe your right, I should of put a warning or something on it :c
@adliberum Thanks for the comments! My plan initially was to make 3 different modes. For example Easy/Hard which would control the starting amount of balls on the screen and frequency of the screen effects (I agree I should of started the effects on maybe the 4th round). Also wanted to do a time attack mode where instead of the lives concept you had to complete it before the timer hits zero. I ran out of time sadlt but these should all be pretty simple things to add thankfully. I definately want to add to it after the voting period for sure! (Along with other tricky screen effects >:D)
I also orignally had LMB to restart until I had a friend playtest it who beat it but didn't see the score as she clicked to much and accidently restarted it :c
I appreciate your feedback man! I'll try to play your game here soon!
@phillserrazina Awesome glad you enjoyed it! Loved your description!
Favorite Compo so far, manage a 1010 score. Definitely gonna show this one to my girlfriend! The music is the only thing I can think of that can be improved. I also like @jcmonkey's power up idea, it can be annoying to clutter the bottom with no/little vowels cause you did all short words.
Also is the highscores on a server or is that just pre-seeded?
Went to play it again (As I really like the game) and well its uh bugged. Refreshing didn't help. Just figured I'd let you know.w.png
@candlesan CTRL+F5 fixed the bug at least in google chrome, if it happens again I'll try shift refresh but I'm assuming it does the same thing.
Beat the 270 guy with 277! A perfect example of really polished simple graphics, with a unique and engaging gameloop. Loved shooting the timer, however shooting the minute or even the tens felt pretty bad. Also the way the spawns work seems odd, sometimes it felt like a lot was spawning when I just restarted compared to just began.

Empty submission?
Extremely impressive graphics/particles and shaders!
I like these types of games a lot, I agree with a lot of the advice given here. I personally was wanting from the glance of the game more strategical depth, instead of having to hug the center. Maybe adding things varying move hexs (like can move with a range 3)/enemy health. Or when you level up you could choose want to increase move hex by 1? Increase Damage? Increase Attack power? Clarity was a big thing cause your zoomed out a lot and had to stop and check a lot and became a chore. Good job it has a lot of potential, would like to see the post-LD version for sure!
Amazing challenging game, love the art style I dig it a lot. Only gripe was when I first played it as I didn't read the page.
Par made me think golf, and in golf the lower your score the better, so I was trying to go for the easiest path which was almost always the default path so I was a little confused in that regard.
Wish I could give it a rating but it's not available in Windows, very curious about lisp though now after looking at the Github cause it looks so different.
Just popping in here saying this looks like a fun game and I think its unique that you did a physical game, I can't play it (or rate it as a result) as I only have 8 dice but you bet I went looking through my house trying to see if I had 20, was a good break activity looking around lol.
Thanks for the feedback @widdershin, auto attack would have been the next thing I did and would have been easy to do, as well as increasing the enemy move speed ever so slightly overtime. A main menu was intended, just never saw the light of day. I started from basically scratch with just the libraries, so I completely ran out of time. The fun for me was learning how to write GLSL shaders. (The only one there isnt that great but its my first shader ever)
Thanks @christian-zommerfelds, I love the missions idea! I don't know if I'm going to push the concept further but if I did, I'd do a whole rewrite and use it learn/practice shaders!
I could easily add the auto shoot and I agree 100% on that, but I ran out of time focusing on other things and I don't want to 'cheat' a feature in. I do think changing to a zip file is easily doable however!
Thanks @bucketh3ad! In theory I should be able to compile for Linux/Mac but I honestly don't have a machine with the OS to try and learn how to do it!
Thanks @iambaangkok the song is a 30 second loop that I quite literally thrown together with MIDI in 30 minutes using Ableton Live, it's just a loop I quickly wrote and if you like it I'll work on a full song version of it and send you the link to a finished version then haha. Otherwise there's just the .wav file in the resourses/audio folder called LD50 song.wav I think.
If I recall right, I used these VST's for this song (I love audio work and writing songs and paid for a lot of librarys over the years. Audio's my first love and been doing it for a while) Addictive Drums (Realistic Drum library) Lounge Lizard (Electric Piano) / lots of reverb/delay (NI Raum/Replika) A.N.A (Synthesizer, used for a pad) NI Massive (Arp) NI Kontakt with these librarys: SoundIron: Olympus Choir Micro Fracture Sounds Frozen Crotales
Thanks @jeremy-selwyn First shader I've ever written so it's not the best, but I'm happy with how it turned out! There was plans for a second shader but I had to drop it. I wanted the screen to get all pixelated and glitchy looking as your corruption increased but you know, time constraints :/
Thanks you for playing @specturnal, and thanks for the heads up @caeonosphere I did limit the amount of enemies, I should of scaled somethings like corruption radius and enemy movespeed/detection range but I quite simply ran out of time. Loved the aesthetics in your games btw, noticed you commented here 2 hours after I commented on your game haha.
Most unique idea I've seen here so far, and plays really well. At first I was like well this sucks you can barely move and I can't get crap but then I realized the potential of the Restart with deck and removing options... And its gets crazy fun. The dialog volume in the beginning is the only true offender in this game in my eyes.
Agree with most people above:
Nice tutorial, gameplay simple once you figure the strategy, music loud but pretty nice. Wish there was more depth but overall a nice entry good work!
I agree a lot with @pdotjpg The movement is absolutely phenomenal and feels really well. The shooting is definitely the weakest part of the game, would be a lot more fair if it shot a projectile toward the direction of the mouse. That way you didn't have to click exactly on them. A benefit of this would be supporting controllers or even a dual sticked arcade machine?
Another great stand out is the multiple levels, I would argue this also turns into a negative as some levels are a lot harder than others (the one with the 3 spinnys comes to mind) I feel that it turns into a shit I got a bad level so I'll just die to have a easier chance at beating my highscore. Maybe make highscores level dependent and you can pick. Or have the level cycle over time. Example you killed all? Move to the next level and keep going.
Also the tutorial seemed better fitting toward a platformer I was shocked at first how different main gameplay was from the tutorial at first, but considering the time constraints its good that you even had time to fit a tutorial in! It does explain how to play and does it well.
I dig it, the song definitely vibes with the cups. I agree with @sirikan I had issues connecting cups on the web version but when I downloaded the Windows build I never had a issue. Might be worthwhile looking into.
Link doesn't work as they said here for the @ when you get it up.
Had fun for about maybe 2 minutes clicking and buying points for the raise, when I was hit with a revelation. If you click the buy button you can then use the Space and Enter key to spam the click button for money. After that it was down hill as I could bought everything so much and was so bored, the food meter doesn't seem to work and the evolutions and stuff took ages, I never even died after leaving it running on my PC for 40 minutes. Definitely some more user feedback like @darandin said. The art is probably my favorite part. I have a love for programmer graphics.
