Link still broken
You may have forgotten to hit "publish" on your game in itch.io. Also, I coincidentally made a one-sided pong game for Ludum Dare a couple years ago: https://machwerx.itch.io/innocuous-pong-webgl.
LInk is not working -
I'm sorry, fixed it now
The link worked now!

- There isn't much description on what to do, then I figured out that I couldn't really win even if I tried. I laughed to myself hahaha - Is there a way you could win? I suppose...no? - Could add some sfx to spice things up
Well it's one-sided pong. I would have liked for it to have more of a twist there, but it works!
Funny take on the theme! One suggestion is to randomize initial ball velocity direction, otherwise you can start the round doing absolutely nothing with the ball moving perfectly in the center of the screen left-to-right-and-back, waiting for the floating-point simulation errors to escalate so that the ball moves a bit up or down.
Loved the take on the theme, and I find the concept of one sided pong to be quite funny. Great touch to keep the score too, though I would like to maybe have some way of knowing how long I kept the ball in play. At least there is *something* to play for even though a crushing shut-out defeat is unavoidable. As it is, once I was done chuckling at the futility of the game and the meaningless scoreboard there wasn't much reason for me to keep playing.
I know this is meant to be one of those jokey type games, but I had a Binatone Machine in the 70s/80s and it legit had a mode called Squash(practise) which was exactly like this. This is a gaming concept as old as videogames themselves. You've kind of proved that the Ludum Dare 50 theme is as pure as gaming itself. Whether by choice or by accident your game has validated the Theme Suggestions, the Theme Slaughter, and the Theme Voting rounds as the absolute and only possible solution for game jam theme creation. Whenever anyone on this, or any website, ever questions how the theme is decided upon I will direct them here so they can eat that humble pie they are spewing. I am printing this page in triplicate as I type and I will be framing it. One copy will be sent to the National Museum of Videogame History. One copy will be sent to @pov. The last I will keep for myself, placed on the wall next to the first drawing that my daughter drew of me.
I salute you. :8ball:
@lisyarus I didn't want to take time implementing a start button, and this kind of stalls the game until you move
interesting game lol, very challenging
Somehow this makes me think agina about "inevitable"... What's different here is that you already knew that it is destinited to be not winable at first, but somehow I still wanna play around with it. Jokey game but makes me think. I like this experimental experience.
I cannot hear the sound, but the game fits the theme pretty well.
Very basic. A game like this really needs more juice. Nonetheless, I was very amused when the humor of the situation struck me :D The score counter makes all the difference.
Nice one :) What a shame there are not sound effects. Really fun idea, well done!
Nice game! Really original idea as well. You should add sound effects too. I hope you reach 20 ratings ;)
