Another arithmetic game =). Was neat. I kept getting stuck on walls though, so the platformy bits were challenging. I liked that the last level made me think a bit, though I ended up just solving it ignoring most of the pieces, which seemed anti-climactic.

@jimbly Hello. I'm glad you like it, ~~but can you edit your comment so that it doesn't include the answer to the final level?~~ Thank you!

jimbly 2019-10-07 03:36

Sure, no problem =).

Love it! Really cool idea! I found the collisions a bit wacky, but otherwise awesome game.

really cool game idea, took it so litteraly that it is really unique

adliberum 2019-10-07 21:36

Really like this. Such a neat way to represent the theme. With a bit of polish, this would make a great game for kids / educational game. Great work!

Cool game :)

I had almost the exact same concept for my game... for the first 24h. But I couldn't find a way to make it fun (you did by including platformer elements), so I changed for a more classic puzzle game.

There is one level with many 1 and -1 and you need to reach 2.... when I have `1`, I get the `-` operation, then I run into a `-1` from the side... the result `-2` ?!?. Shouldn't that be `1 - (-1) = 2` ?

Note: to avoid being stuck when the character collides with vertical surfaces, you can add to its collider a PhysicsMaterial that has 0 friction.

toppervideogames 2019-10-08 05:08

@fredfilo The side you touch a number with the minus sign makes a difference! I think you ran into it from the right, which would have done -1 - (1) = -2. To get the two, you would have to come in from the left. It is using an important math rule, though I do wish I had an easier way of showing it in game. The platforming could do with a lot of polish as well, I was a lot more focused on the math aspect. Thank you for playing!

Very nice idea for the theme, the best approach I saw until now. Some interactions were a bit confusing and the movement some times were not so responsive (especially near vertical surfaces) but overall the game was really nice to play :)

nakami 2019-10-08 10:18

Nice entry I like make my brain work on some of the levels ! As fredifilo said the platforming is not perfect and could be improve a bit.

iak 2019-10-08 18:54

Hmm I can't seem to get the web version to run... could you upload a local version (windows) ?

toppervideogames 2019-10-08 20:06

@iak I have added a windows download build on the itch page. Have fun!

paude 2019-10-08 20:47

Wow! I've never seen such a thing like this before! It lacks a bit on the graphics, but it's so origional!

doc-moustache 2019-10-09 06:06

Really cool educational game! With more work and better graphics i could have been a really cool game to play to learn maths!

Also the work on sound design is really cool. It gives really good feedbacks. Grrat game!

iak 2019-10-09 14:41

You know. I'll keep this idea of yours here tabbed in my mind. I'm generally interested in ways to make learning more fun, and this is a pretty good inspiration there, because I sure as heck enjoyed it. If you polish the mechanics a bit and add more levels this could turn out really cool. And educational. ;)

ebbdrop 2019-10-09 15:55

Cool idea. Loved the puzels. The controls are a little annoying tho.

call-me-nutty 2019-10-09 16:05

Very clever idea, I agree with the other commentors that the platforming was very whack but you made some very interesting puzzles with what you had available.

Good Job!

tc5550 2019-10-09 19:32

I enjoyed the game. The length was just perfect. The only thing i thought was weird was how plus and minus works

foursay 2019-10-10 05:34

I really enjoy how the game is displayed. the number puzzle is interesting cause it perfectly combine the property of number with platformer gameplay. That's so nice!

phil-c 2019-10-10 06:37

Definately enjoyed this one a ton. I would work on the platforming bits to make them a little better. The final stage was a little tricky to get to the top corner maybe extend it over slightly. Overall though was a very fun and challeging game!

savvy-community 2019-10-10 13:58

Cool concept: tricky at first, but then really fun! Nice job!

p-r 2019-10-10 18:28

Nice puzzle, love it, but sometimes when you jump it sticks on the platforms and walls, this could be improved.

fractal 2019-10-10 22:35

Very nice concept with a lot of good ideas, and nice progression between the levels as well. The only thing is that controls are not perfect, it’s easy to get stuck to walls and stuff.

smilewood 2019-10-13 02:22

Cool concept, I think that it fits the theme quite well. It also was a good test of basic math skills that I haven’t had to use much for a while, I found the puzzles to be pleasantly challenging. The movement itself was a little bit janky, I found myself stuck on walls and corners a lot and I personally found just crossing the screen a bit slow. I liked the background music and sound effects, they added (heh) a lot to the enjoyability of the game. Fun concept well implemented for a game jam, with a bit of polish I could see this being something awesome! Great job!

lex 2019-10-20 19:56

I just think the character could move faster. Also, doing math this way is sometimes confusing with the -
