Little Robot Run by KunoNoOni 2019-10-10T21:23:48Z
Reminds me of the first Apogee games, love it, would be nice to have a lifebar or a checkpoint. I read the story, but I think you could've flesh out the theme better.

Reminds me of the first Apogee games, love it, would be nice to have a lifebar or a checkpoint. I read the story, but I think you could've flesh out the theme better.
Very cool. Could you make the right mouse button the jump button?
Cool and clever, also visually great
Nice, very polished, kept me hooked
The UI is great, but could have some visual improvements, ex: improve the short blurry text. The game itself is cool, I like the gameplay mechanic and the music is great.
Very cute
I was convinced it would be too easy just placing the spawn point right over the goal, and then I saw the score :) It's barebones, but entertaining. There's a bug when you place platforms side by side and then try to jump over the connection point.
Simple and entertaining, good music
timeline-small.png
Very cool, simple and creative. Is the card choice completely random or does it takes into account your current value? As you can see I was dancing around the white hue for a while, my choices always kept subtracting
Cool
Beautiful game and clever mechanic, felt both challenging and relaxing at the same time
Cool design, fast paced, and plays smoothly, but it was too short and not very challenging
The explorer mode is a cool feature. I also like the atmosphere changes when doing the landings, great detail. Can get hard when moving in space, with the gravity pulls, and then you're already low on fuel and being attacked.
Cute
The animations are awesome. Very funny. Not sure it quite fits the theme though.
Beautiful
It's confusingly addictive.
Love it, simple yet fun, smart use of AI
About time I dust off my dreamcast. 5 stars.
Cool and fun, some few bugs where I got stuck
nothing.png
Would be great if you could limit the amount of buttons, otherwise I love it.
got 153, but will try for more. interesting and entertaining
The ambient sound is great, the gameplay is rough though and could use some improvement.
Dealing with isometric perspective in a short amount of time can be challenging, yet this is a great effort. There's a great game underneath, but you need to fix all those small bugs.
Pros: Plays well, looks good, sounds great. Cons: The level design and pacing could be improved.
Cool, love it
Very surreal, cool visuals
Cool, hard, but in a good way
I love the sound, but the controls need some tuning.
very funny, love the sfx, but damn those clouds are frustratingly hard to pass
Like it, it's enjoyable and creative
Simple and cool
Nice puzzle, love it, but sometimes when you jump it sticks on the platforms and walls, this could be improved.
takes some time to really absorb the rules, but once you're in control it gets enjoyable. Very nice.
Controls felt stiff, but I like the artwork, the music in the last level was great.
Nice, plays very smoothly
Cool puzzle, challenging and clever
Love the atmosphere, the design, the audio, awesome
Very cool, not sure it was said before, but visually reminds me of prince of persia. I think the character movement when the hunger hits 0 is very distracting, could just take damage and make a sound.
Simple, but maybe too much. Great for mobile.
The learning curve is too steep, otherwise it is quite cool
Cool experience, stunning visuals, also great camera work and audio, love it. I got some framerate problems later on, but my machine ain't that great either.
Like the idea, but could be more challenging, example, make the creatures randomly move and/or sometimes erase words
Beautiful
Took me a while to understand, should have a slower population progress from the start to keep the learning curve. Otherwise cool game
Simple, but creative and well designed
Very simple, not very pretty looking, but does its job. Plays well and kept me hooked. Wish there would be more levels.
Cool, there's a small bug where the music would stop when hitting an enemy, other than that it's quite fun
I love it, it's visually crude though
Cool, hard but in a good way, kept dying but didn't felt frustrating.
Beautiful, simple but very pleasant
Love it, but the controls could use some improvements.
That isn't a sperm whale, jk, very nice to play a game for a 40 year old system.
Simple and creative.I'm not a fan of the controls, I'd rather have only the up key to accelerate forward, but I'm not sure you've programmed this way on purpose to increase the difficulty.
Love the graphics
Love it, and like said above, has a lot of potential.
Simple but cool
Very creative, smooth controls and physics for the time it took
Very nice
Love the music and the graphics
Smooth and clean
It was fun, the only complaint I have would be the clunky controls.
Jeremy looks like a very bearded Homer Simpson
Awesome
This game is amazing, you've captured the mega-drive feel down to the awesome music, colourful sprites, smooth controls.
There's a bug on the second level where the player got stock outside the boundaries, other that that I had great fun with this
Hi @shashwat, thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to make a proper tutorial/manual, hopefully the images I've uploaded will help you. I need to find some time over the weekend to make a proper tutorial (e.g video).
@voidsay thanks for your detailed input and for those tips, they're very useful! Regarding your suggestions, they make every sense for this digital version, but my main intention was to create a game that could be played outside a digital medium, like D&D. You can pretty much just print the map and the rules, or play from a book. That's why I decided to keep it as analogical as possible. I'll take those into consideration for the post-compo version.
@caiclone, @fabdynamic, @don-tnowe thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
As for the rest, thanks for playing, and I understand it can take a while to get the game at first, probably I would too, and there's thousands of games to rate. This is a game that takes time, a cup of coffee, or if you prefer, a port. Play it on a cold rainy day by the fireside. Besides the manual, @voidsay made good suggestions in the comment above, they can be helpful.
@eptwalabha Yes, I regret not adding extra objectives. I'm adding quests in the post-compo version. Thanks for your tips, the fog of war is a cool idea, but like I said to @voidsay, my main goal is to make something that can be played on paper. As for the ps, I don't have nothing against the mouse, one of m favourite characters is Goofy and I'm an avid reader of their comics :)
@shashwat,@bumdag,@krapht, I've just uploaded a small 4 min. tutorial video that should serve as an easy guide (hopefully).
@cookie-chr Thanks for playing, I should've add somewhere that to complete the game the player must reach the goal position. I'm going to improve the game forward, in a post-compo version, probably this next weekend, and it will include quests, a story-line, etc, so hopefully it's going to be more engaging than what it is now. As for the demons, after 9 steps a demon will appear despite the rules.
When you lose track of time, surely must mean it's good. +1 for my favourites
I do have some bouts of OCD, thanks
Love this combination, it opens up many possibilities for world building and exploration
I love this style of games, wish they would do it more often
Cool game, straightforward, reminds me of Ice Climber, love this style
Funny, there's a bug where the baby got stuck under the top panel.
The effect you've created with the parallax and the physics felt great
Didn't think it was confusing at all, it's a very clever puzzle, you should create more levels
This was a fun experience, thanks
The environment you've created is terrific, it really captures the horror and claustrophobia from similar themes like the SAW movies.
Is something suppose to happen after the escape? It looks like it's getting stuck there at least for me. Otherwise looks great
Where can I get the licensed version of the porthole explorer?
That wormhole effect was very cool, the intro is fire. I think the Repair is OP, imo you could have the repair to charge until a certain level, and have the option to activate on the spot. The amount you have charged is the equivalent amount to the health you're given. The game is very polished and visually stunning by the time it took developing, well done.
Maybe you should add a limiter for the number of connections per level to make a little bit more challenging?
My strategy is to get a group of horses, get the most trees possible and try to avoid confrontations in the beginning. If you do this you're probably going to be on the majority when all stables are destroyed. I didn't implement any AI so you have a good advantage when compared to the other teams even if the place gets chaotic.
@silkworm-sweatshop perhaps a rogue inside the pile of bodies, they can be sneaky...
@gale-swift it could help, there might be colour blind people who can't distinguish them either
Great music
I like how you can recruit the poop lool
Dope music
What is the height? The platform? It seems anything I do I pass the level by hitting all blocks until they fall.
You should make it so that you do not need to wait for others to arrive at the finish line to pass the level. Other than that, plays smoothly, making a racing game can be challenging due to all the ai and path-finding issues that arise.
Not gonna lie, I find the jumping control frustrating. Took me quite a while to time the jumps correctly in the second level. I like how it's designed, it looks like a mid 90s platformer.
Very puzzling entry, it is certainly original. Are you using player data to feed the AI algos or this is just mathematics at work?
@phlip45 the black screen was due to a parser error which I was already able to fix, same probably applies to you @elede @jesusnoseq and @a-chill-lemur. I've tested in most known modern browsers and without any issues so far.
@gbgames Thanks for the extensive feedback, very glad you enjoyed it.
@tylerstraub @mooptychunk @conradoclark @realryanrogers @tigerfinch Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.
@yahwooday @pickyburrito49 you would assume chrome of all browsers would perform well, but there's a lot of inefficient coding on my part that might be causing the lag. It might also be due to the fact that it's being played embedded, cohabit with all the itch.io frontend stuff.
@exevirus lol amazing feedback, it looks like you're ready to take over the universe with that fleet :D. Yes as you can tell there is not much level design as it should have, but time constraints dictated that I should follow the law of random. Appreciate your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed it.
@etherion @lbrande @kiddy @elimarable Thanks for the feedback!
Took me a while to get familiar with the controls so it was very challenging in the very beginning. Once you get around that it's very enjoyable, amazing what you where able to accomplish in such short time. Astounding visuals.
Stunning presentation, it really conveys the feeling of struggle and hopelessness.
It was very enjoyable, and will definitely play it again. Hopefully you expand because there's potential.
Not sure if it's just me but I find the mouse control too erratic. It looks great
The reason Zeus is so pissed is because there's no animals in that island
What are the controls? Don't seem to be able to find them
It is deceptively hard since you end up burning up trees but it was quite fun nonetheless, also you should add other natural disasters
Stunning game, was the falling sound the teleportation from dragonball?
They're everywhere, love it, so simple yet addicting
I like how it reminds me of early nintendo games. If I would add a critique, I think it's too simple, maybe you should add more stuff, but it is great for a jam with a big time restriction.
Creepy yet beautiful to look at.
This is surprisingly fun and addictive, I love to bring all that mass of enemies to the satan eyes and watch them explode in droves
This is such a pretty game, the blend between 2D and 3D is very well done and it also plays smoothly.
I enjoyed the hand-drawn graphics, they are well made and makes the game very appealing. I also love the sound mix, a techno/modern mixture with classical/historical instruments, it's a great feature that also gives depth.
I would personally keep all the rooms available and make the demon go faster in case you swap back to a previous location. You would have the swap available only after a few number of steps of course, or maybe an item you could catch. Impressive for the amount of time it took.
Nice music, I like the information in each panel of how they impact the stats
Very dope!
You should make the up or w button to jump instead of space, other than that it's pretty cool
Beautiful game, very impressive what you manage to achieve taking into account the amount of animations. The demon is something out of nightmares, love the design.
Beautiful game, looking forward to your next interactions.
This game is amazing, and I'll definitely going to play it again. It is addictive, polished and very well designed, the sound work is incredible, doesn't look like a jam game at all.
Controls are a little funny, that is especially noticeable in mid air, but not sure if it's by design
Looks legitely like an early nintendo game
I like the mechanism of the mold, the game doesn't straight kill you upon collision, but progressively fogs your senses and lulls you to death, very clever and unexpected.
You should change the line command to disable moving while still in line. To disengage the line you would only require to click on the middle button again. Other than that I really enjoyed the idea, and programming groups and formations is actually very hard but you killed in that section.
I like how simple the controls are but how flawlessly they work, very fun game.
It was very fun. I like how this feels like a nightmarish version of Mario, with that creepy dissonant music.
I was under the impression the sword collision didn't always worked, but then I tried your post jam and it made sense after I saw the life bars. It was quite fun and kept me playing.
This was a very creative way to incorporate the theme. Would love it to be lengthier.
Never played a powerpoint game for ld, I really liked the out-of-the-box puzzle.
Very impressive the amount of different characters and attack modes that you've created in such short time. It would be nice to have a way to select them directly and place them instead of going to a second list on the bottom.
Very clever use of the theme
This was very well done, quite the experience. Not a big fan of first person 3D platforming, it got frustrating sometimes, I kept falling because I have poor 3D perception due to visual impairement.
Thanks for putting in bold the point that turrets must be placed on top of walls.
As others already stated, an ammo indicator would be very helpful, but I really love the design.
Controls should be clearer
This is very well designed. I found the controls a little tricky, many times I clicked the monster with the right spell and nothing happened, maybe it has a very little action box or something.
This game should've get way more ratings! Very well done
Not really a fan of the direction controls, but I get used to it after a while. Looks very nintendo-ish, like it
The audio is very well made, a song for each season, really cool
The only drawback is that I have to convince someone to play with in order to give a fair assessment of the game, but with that said, it looks great and I like the background music used.
I think the balls might be too fast, not sure if it's just me.
The character designs are well done, I think you should've started with a price, and when it reaches 0 you lose or get some sort of penalty. Also sometimes I felt I couldn't avoid the bullets since the control response has a very small but noticeable delay.
Visually it reminds me of those early 90s platformers. It requires some polish, like a damage detection timer.
Loove it, very spooky. The creepy audio that triggers when the demon is near is very haunting and works very well.
It's cute, but harder than it looks
Impressive production value, love the sound effects and the surreal yet clean visual. Reminds me of Neverhood.
Very neat, there are few entries I've played for over 1/2 an hour, usually a hallmark of a fun game
I have a question regarding the rules: if a vacant box (yellow) has the orange highlighted square, then it should be available to clone to, or are there any caveats? Nice game btw
Very cute, beautiful game
Forgot to put it playable through the browser
I'm having "Content-Security-Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource at blob:" loading the embedded here, please use only the itch.io player
@landerack @thomas-bringer @the-sphess @pattedecanaard thanks for playing and forgive me for the lack of clarity in the rules. I have uploaded a few screenshots above. Furthermore, all the bonuses from the summoned demon, and the size of the grid paths, will help the attack, the longer the paths, higher the damage. You lose if any edge (row or column) gets entirely filled, so be careful not to ignore those ones.
Beautiful artwork, would love to see a fleshed out version, maybe with a map and other options
Nice, are those flying thingies supposed to do something, like remove time or reset? I kept trying to avoid them, but when I collided with them nothing happened, maybe it's just aesthetic
Hell's Gate cafe looks cozy, well done
Looks very complete and polished, and a lot of features, well done
Dig the art, well done
Waitress: Spinning the cat is not possible
You: No, it's necessary
I really like the elder gods designs, and now I know hell has at least 18 dimensions
Top, this was actually genuinely scary
yo what did I miss? XD catwithhat.png
Wow love it, so addictive, please make more levels
Damn teddy.png
I would love to be able to scroll through the log, this is very intriguing
Beautiful and smooth
The amount of different combinations you can create is a neat feature. Love the character designs. I think it lacks some visual feedback which could further enhance the experience
Love the character designs, the music is fitting aswell
Beautiful, find myself replaying it, kept forgetting the candles in the first tries
Love it, quite fun
Yay, I banished the red prince! Had a lot of fun, the Endless tunnel effect is very creative
what's the "Mkhomt" sauce?
Great, now my walls are pouring blood, thanks! On a good note though, I probably won't be sleeping alone tonight. Glass half full I guess.
dancers.gif
Amazing music
@captandrey the plus cells have a decreasing lifetime
@le-knallfrosch need to make the angle bigger the further it deepens to avoid the spam
"I think this is the last time I’ll ever write anything. My hands are trembling, not from fear, not anymore. It’s the weight of almost — of being this close to the edge of the world I haven’t seen in nearly four years.
I’ve tunneled for seventy-nine nights now. My fingers look more like cracked stone than flesh. The spoon I stole from the mess hall snapped three nights ago. Since then it’s been fists and nails. It hurts. Everything hurts.
But pain is different now — not punishment, but progress.
The guards don’t know. They think I broke after the solitary. And maybe I did. But broken men are the best at slipping through cracks.
I found the gap behind the sink. Just wide enough for my ribs if I exhale all the way. Past it: old stone, damp earth, and something that smells like freedom — or rot. Hard to tell the difference anymore.
The plan was never to escape in a blaze. It was the slow kind of escape. The quiet kind. I memorized patrol schedules. I watched where the floodlights don’t reach. I listened for when the dogs sleep and when the night guard pisses behind the utility shed.
I was going to make it.
Tonight I broke through the last layer. There was light — moonlight. God, I forgot how pale and gentle it is. I stuck my head out just to taste the air. It didn’t smell like rust and soap and sweat. It smelled like pine.
I smiled. For the first time in years. I smiled like a man seeing his child born."
This is very cute and a great use of physics that fits very well with the theme
I love it, reminds me of old DOS platformers
Awesome entry
very cool

Fun game, looks like I can attack them freely from the water
Cool, love the music and the sfx
I wasn't a big fan of the controls, took me a while to master, but it looks great, I like the title, the details, the 2D/3D effects
pretty cool sound and graphics
cool, kept me glued for a while
Cool, I just ordered for this game a 4-letter word that starts with 'L',ends with 'E', and has a 'V' and an 'O' in the middle.
love this game!
cool idea, simple and it plays nice
cool idea and great graphics
cool beat
Kid: "Mommy, I'm scared"
Mother: "Don't sweety, soon well be out, go back to sleep now."
Father (holding a shotgun): "Why don't they change their expressions?! They're Demons, the whole lot!"
Mother: "Henry, are we gonna die??"
Baby: ""waaah-waaah"
5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Love it, kept me glued. Harder than it looks, but eventually managed to win
Very cool idea and solid gameplay. However, it looks like any shot is a point. It would be cool if shots could also be missed accordingly to some battle conditions or something. And because it's basket, you could also add normal shot (gives 2 points), or long shot (less likely to score, but gives you 3 points) otherwise I love it :)
5 ⭐
my only complaint is that the victims limbs shouldn't regrow.
top sfx, lol
Looks cool, but I didn't get the turn based aspect
very cool idea, creative and well executed.
cool, it would be nice to include more lifes
interesting combination
It's cool, and I look forward to replay this if you fix the difficulty curve. there's too many words for such little time, and some of them are too long. Also the font size should be bigger and the colour scheme more clearer when you go over the rock path or the yellow stripes (maybe you could change the word window to an opaque background?)
very weird and unique perspective. definitely an experience
the swipe on the puzzle seemingly wasn't working properly for my case (or maybe I'm missing something?), but dig the idea
yay! I did it, 6011 miles :) but it was challenging. I would like the missile key to be space or other besides return
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated :)
@Jimbly no ending screen, sorry :(, the best I can give you is this:
'._==_==_=_.' .-\: /-. | (|:. |) | '-|:. |-' \::. / '::. .' ) ( _.' '._ `"""""""` U R WIN
@willowblade it's my favourite library so far, simple and to the point.
@LMB great game, spent hours on that one
@Slashee the Cow check out the description below the game :) about the wall bug, I'll look that up
@fazz about the block thing, I also thougth that on development process, but then it occured to me that I should make Shiojiri(mecha) ignore the wall colision instead, in order to force the player to use Kumo (block builder) directly. It's more challenging this way (and maybe more interesting?). That's what I was aiming for.
love this, very entertaining
very cool and original idea. does the prize changes accordingly to how many steps you make to resolve the maze?
cool, but wish I could control the block direction somehow, maybe with the IJKL keys?
love it 👍 if I have one complaint to make it's the tiring music loop.
cool idea, love it :)
I like the idea, but for me it was very frustrating to play. The collision detection was very sensitive
I love it!
I call BS on all those fancy scientists, bananas are actually a turn off.
stunning
cool combination with the memory theme, but it gets a little annoying with all the trial and error. I think the ideia proposed by the commenter above could improve that.
"I once had a dream like this. Overwhelmed by the creeping shadows, I fought with all my will. But then I realized that they were just craving my flesh. The fear subdued as I gave them permission to consume my limbs. The pain would surely clean my spirit. Yet, annoyed by my unwelcoming taste, they screamed and then tried to kill me. Then I woke up. Sometimes I still fall asleep, wondering if I shall return there, always making sure not to forget the spices."
cool idea, but I think you should reduce some command phrases, for example, just left or rigth, instead of including an pointless 'move'.
love the idea. sometimes the platforms failed, or they appear randomly on top of you, making the character unable to jump
nice, entertaining and very well designed, it got me glued for sure. If I have only one complaint it would be the theme. I would call this a purely puzzle game with dungeon and labyrinth themes mixed. It's a little farfetched to call it point&click imo. This is of course very subjective, and it's still a good game regardless.
that sound though 😂
great graphics
tight
After playing for a while, your vision starts shifting right, groovy 8). And was the sound from the bushes the same sound of the Horse archers in AOEII?
cool style
cool, I would love if you began with the enemy stats before an attack, to give hints about the best attack or defense. does it respond accordingly to the speed you type and submit?
lol wut? is this reference to something?
