Fun game, the cats didn't have much of an effect on my strategy or the way I played, but jumping and collecting things was enjoyable, as was seeing the level get revealed.

Good job buddy. The game was pretty fun. The goal was a bit simplistic but the great mood and ambiance make up for it. The trees are a bit too random and we cant really know where we will land or go, but its not a lot. Good job
Fun game! The enemys didn't affect me I think. I like the fog and the graphics so much! The animation of jump was cute! The music fit pretty well! In overall, nice game!
Neat game, first ever mobile game I played from Ludum Dare, I liked that!:) Was a little bit confused though about the cats, I didn't see any effects wether I stood next to them or not. I liked the artwork alot, overall good job!:)
Bouncing all over the place was fun. I didn't feel like i had a lot of control in the treetops, but the visual changes after eating mushrooms was fun. Nice job!
Didn't seem like I was able to drop down from trees by pressing down. Also, the cats didn't seem to do anything when they touched me. I had some trouble jumping up the trees at the end to get home. Otherwise, the game is fun and cute. The graphics are great!
Finished the game. So cool seeing it all clear up like that! I also LOVED the frantic, fast-paced jumping around, trying to stay away from the cats. It felt a little out of control, but was fun to play around in there anyway. Nicely done.
Super neat asthetic! it was hard to see for a while, but then I realized that was the point haha
As a cat lover I like that after all, they were not dangerous =D Sometimes it's good to have a jump-walk in a forest eating toadstools with a bunch of cats nearby with you =^_^=
I thought the visibility mechanic was a little harsh and detracted from the game a bit. I started off not being able to see much and then it got worse with each mushroom until it suddenly cleared right before I hit the tower and it said I won. Didn't really get to appreciate the level with full vision. Controls felt really good though and I did enjoy the audio. Cheers.
Cool design, fast paced, and plays smoothly, but it was too short and not very challenging
Nice moody design. The jumping felt a little fast to me, but I liked the graphics after I could see them!
Looks like the cats are a bit buggy: I always was surrounded by cats but I still won. Anyway, the graphics are lovely and the concept is very cool, good job!
Very snappy! Great char controller! The design/glow was was a cool aesthtic, and loved the fast paced feel to it.. music and sound worked great too, nice job for the time you had!
Felt pretty strange. The down button didn't work for me, so the trees were a bit annoying. The cats didn't seem very hostile, so I thought they were allies at first. (A possible direction for this game is to collect an army of cats)
not bad; the design is a bit simple and the platforming was kinda finnicky, but the artwork was nice and it didn't overstay its welcome
Agree with @zuf, down button didn't work and cats were docile, so there was no pressure to platform properly.
The art is very good and consistent, giving a nice thematic mood to the game.
@everyone - Thanks for taking the time to play! :smile_cat:
@zuf & @stark @solah @dragonzbw @arkinrev @alex-ferbrache - for the jumping / falling down + cats in general, I've implemented the procedural trees I' meant to have in the original.

The cats now make the level darker when they hit you, so you need to seek out more ( now regenerating ) mushrooms to be able to get the apples ( which only show on light level 3 + )
And all visible 'chunks' in the tree have collision now, so what you see, you can jump on!

Saw your post and I clicked on your game because I thought you had a cool name 😁😁
Really like the artwork you created for this game! The one improvement you could make is to make it a bit more clear about what platforms in the trees the player can walk on. Otherwise thought the atmosphere you created was great and everything looked nicely together.
Gameplay felt pretty nice but I think there are a few quirks that could be ironed out with the jumping. Great job and congratulations on making a game in 48 hours!
Movement, sounds and art are great and well made. However, general gameplay needs something more, like puzzles, simple enemies. Also, you should work on UI, it's not very good when you don't tell a player how many apples they should bring.
Good work on lights and overall dynamics - it feels really smooth and fast to zip through the trees. Cool game!
I feel the player needs some advices along the way - just to make sure he/she is not confused (in the beginning with low lighting I struggled to figure out is that a platformer of top-down 2d dangeon crawler - but then with more light and effects of gravity I finally understood that it is actually a platformer :)
It was much more frantic with the cat update, and I was able to jump down from the trees. Well done.
@zuf - thanks for coming back to give it a whirl! I now need to figure out the dynamic tree creation.
@invader - Thanks dude, yeah, will do a better tutorial level maybe before dropping into the full game.
@artyom-volkov - The latest post-dare version has cats with hats and swords that take away the light, and mean you can't collect apples. I do need to add more though agreed. didn't have time in the 48h!
Very fun little game! I really liked the music and the theme. The sound effects were fine but I think you should change the cats' sounds. After a while, the movement sounds became too much. Also, the cats weren't that threating as others said. That's all!
All right,
So I played through a number of times and I wasn't actually able to finish the level in the Post-LD version, but I was in the LD version. In the post-LD I cannot, get anything other than "Less Cats" - but there's not really a way to have "Less Cats" other than to run and keep trying over and over to reach it with less cats. It's not really very clear what having "less cats" actually means.
That said, the movement is fluid, the sound effects are okay, but it would have been nice for the cats to actually give the player a bit of knockback, indicating that the player was hit by the cat. I know in the post-version you added the light-reduction on hit, but it's still not intuitive that the cats are "bad" necessarily.
I beat the game. The cats did not seem to effect me. Had an enjoyable time
Not sure if it's just because I'm colorblind but it was frustrating not being able to tell what you could or couldn't jump on (trees especially). Audio, graphics, and mechanics really come together pretty well - the pixel art is great, and the darkness mechanic + frantic music work well together with it all.
...I just realized the landing/jumping sounds are literally drum sounds. I thought the music was just going all sorts of crazy-drum solo for the frantic feel but it was literally being fed by my character running away from cats. Intentional or not, I think that works really well together for mood.
Post-jam version: Pretty fast paced - I didn't know you couldn't die at first so I was running for my life  eventually, I played at a slower pace to move all the cats to the floor and away from the house and ninja-jumped across the top.
Being able to pretty much jump onto any tree in post-jam (as well as dropping down) felt really good though!
Man those cats were crazy following me I went in**SANE!**
But in the end I broke their ankles and got home safely!
Spoopy stuff though. Halloween? :eyes:
The graphics are amazingly well done, I also add :3
I really liked this! It was fun seeing how the mushrooms worked, and I found the cats suitably stressful to avoid  I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the cats to end the level but that one's on me. Thanks!
I love the graphic design. The use of color and light, simple shapes, and the old CRT TV static made it feel like I was playing a really trippy NES game back in the day.
Interesting Controls, light mechanic and aesthetic is compelling. Very Enjoyable overall! The trees had a very strong physical presence for me.
I like the music and the transition from dark to light! At the start I thought I was in a cave then I realised it was a forest. Very interesting!
@actual-potato-69 - Thanks for playing. Yeah, the cats were more annoying in the Dare / Compo version. They're more scary in the updated one, as they now have hats and swords.
@aurel - I'll definitely work on the knockback/stun when hit. There is a bit, but it's probably too subtle. And yeah 'less cats' hahah - I ran out of time, but like real life cats, they'll try follow you in the house/tower, so you can't have any near/ on screen when you're trying to get into door.
@ninnec - Cool beans, thanks for playing!
@tenlki - I hope by next Ludum Dare to have a new PC so I can show the sound/music creation part, you correctly spotted they were all kick drum / snare sounds ( same as the music track ) . I reduced the volume a bit post-dare as once you have 10+ enemies , it gets super loud!
Glad you like the post-dare changes, I'm still working on the trees and efficiency for the effects. Maybe if I get time I'll port it to Unity and do some physics / swaying with the trees.
@itsdanidre - haha, yeah, October is halloween month. The glowing eyes in the darkness are supposed to put you on edge. :scream:
@inkyglow - I plan to add in some wizard elements that I failed to add during the compo - hopefully making it easier to get rid of cats. Right now you just have to keep running along the tops of the trees and hope the cats get stuck on the ground.
@budaniel - Great stuff! That's what I was going for. :)
@bamberga - was that the post-dare version? Hopefully the making of ALL green 'clumps' walkable made it more predictable than the compo one, as not all 'leaves' had collision.
@bonevolt - thanks for taking the time to play and comment. The music is FL Studio and all in 5/4 time signature to make it slightly weird and unnerving!
Looks fantastic, really like the noisy pixel art, and the lighting effects. The gameplay is really simple, but it's intrinsically fun just to get chased around such a wild environment and try to brighten up the place. Great work!
Весёлая игра
@trevor-shoe - thanks for playing. That was what I was going for, with a little edgyness from the glowing eyes in the dark!
@finlal - Спасибо за ваш ответ!
Love the lighting effects!
