LD27 — 10 Seconds

SILX by alvivar 2013-08-30T20:28:00

Same as my comment on kong: "LOVE this. Love the controls, the gameplay, the haunting emptiness. I agree that it is a bit difficult, but man, great job. Add a storyline and work on refining the gameplay and i would play the crap out of it." I had so much fun trying it out that I didn't realize there wasn't a clear tie in to the theme, but great idea anyway.

Duke Dashington by AdventureIslands 2013-08-27T02:06:00

Awesome times ten.

Train Robbery by phaze0 2013-08-28T02:43:00

Nice idea. Loved the graphics. I had trouble being patient with having to wait for so long, but I just finished playing a few faster paced shmups, so I'm sure it's just me. :)

Nice job!

DEZ by azurenimbus 2013-08-27T01:19:00

I liked it a lot. Clever use of the theme. I imagine that with more time you would give more visual differences to the enemies. The controls are pretty good, maybe a bit fast? Awesome game though.

ten seconds of prototypeness by zakchaos 2013-08-27T19:58:00

Good, another great game THAT I SUCK AT. Well done on your entry, especially with the 2 hour timeframe. :)

SliP by Sakuyan 2013-08-28T02:37:00

Very clever and I really liked the graphics. This is the 3rd game in a row that had lagging issues for me, so now I'm thinking it's my browser or something and should restart.

Wrath of the Hash Slinging Slasher by Vnator 2013-08-27T17:11:00

Fun enough that I was determined to kill the end boss. I liked it, very innovative use of the theme for sure. Some collision issues for sure, but not that annoying. :)

Chicken Snatch by tigerj 2013-08-27T15:19:00

That's one hungry fox. and a violent little dog too. Anyway, I had fun playing. The jumping controls took some getting used to, but still worked. Also, my only bug report is that when I finished playing, I pressed CMD+W to close the tab and it wouldn't. Safari on a Mac.

Hall of Flame by ModestArcade 2013-08-27T19:55:00

Nice idea, though it got too tough for me pretty quickly (the %#&$! level that circled around the center). Well done, overall.

The Saddest Landscape by BradleySmith 2013-08-30T17:39:00

Great start! Still can't remember that robot game that this reminds me of. I like the filmstrip motif in-game. Definite potential with that.

Lodestar by folmerkelly 2013-08-27T19:16:00

So beautiful, and very clever. I love the style you have, especially the colors. Very polished. I can envision a finished game with different "islands," enemies, scenarios, etc.

Also, *frantic-dolphin-clicking*

Cheese Time! by AaronGordon 2013-08-27T22:29:00

Great job on this. I love the idea, very "innovative" game mechanic. I did have some trouble with controls and collisions though, I seemed to get stuck when I didn't think I should be. Overall, well done.

Con 10 Sedi by Capro 2013-08-28T20:30:00

I absolutely DOMINATED in Childish mode. And by "dominated" I mean "took 2nd place." Bravissimo!

Mr.President! (Web) by Richard Matey 2013-08-27T05:00:00

LOL, you're right, it IS a lot like mine! Only my graphics are WAY more involved. ;) I loved your game. I was laughing outloud watching the President get shot and then seeing me dive in too late, or just diving way too short.

Nice touch with the song at the end as well. Maybe I should add that to my ending as well...

Well done.

Rude Bear Radio by Alex Rose 2013-08-28T20:09:00

Very fun, though I admit I didn't get all of the references, I haven't played some of the classics yet. (let's just keep that a secret between you and me, ok?)

I did spend most of my time figuring out the controls, but I'm sure that will come with repeat gameplay.

Also, I died a lot.

Ten Seconds of Thrust! by wulfdesign 2013-08-27T03:14:00

Fun. I got nervous when I realized I had 20 seconds left and I wasn't even close. Well don!

Test Chambers by 0xc0dec 2013-09-04T03:45:00

You did well with the graphics and sound and initial gameplay, but ya, got a little repetitive. Well done for 48h!

The Stuffuv by roaet 2013-08-27T15:05:00

Very nicely done! It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but THEN I was able to make progress. Very interesting and I say keep working on it.

The Vengeful Baby-Men by Jarcas Studios 2013-08-27T05:38:00

Well if that's not the most creative premise ever, especially the band name.

I really like the idea, but it sure ramped up in difficulty quickly. There's definitely potential with such a unique game mechanic.

Routine decisions (in 10 seconds) by Yozz 2013-08-27T05:21:00

Wow, very clever. Definitely innovative gameplay. Maybe a bit frantic, which worked well for the gameplay, and helped me practice my panicky speed reading.

And now I'm hungry and have to go to the bathroom.

Total Spaghettification by unusualcadence 2013-08-27T04:12:00

Fun. I'm not sure which level I gave up on, but I made it through quite a few. Very addictive, well done!

Hallucivian by Hypnohustla 2013-08-27T02:28:00

So cool. Spent way more time on this game than I expected to! If I could art like you art, I'd be... artsome?

Ten Down by Sebastian 2013-08-30T20:12:00

Fun game. Very fun. It took me a second to see that the guns were changing. I'm not sure I noticed much of a difference in terms of killing people. Some were harder to kill, but I assumed it was that they were a higher level somehow. If that's the case, maybe have a visual indicator that they're more elite? Also, because I sucked at it, I never made it past floor 10. Is that normal? Also, I loved the "zwoo-zwoo" sound effect that the room-clearing laser thingy made when time ran out. So tech-sounding! :)

I gave the wordy feedback because it's one of the funner(a word) games from this comp, and I expect you'll work on a post-compo version. MAKE IT SO.

Defusing Emily by ydg 2013-08-27T05:15:00

AWESOME. I love the personality that continued to grow more vibrant and desperate. And the gameplay continued to become more frantic. Very fun, and great ending.

Its always red by Szedouu 2013-08-27T16:33:00

I also laughed when the explosion occurred. I will NOT spoil the dramatic twist at the end of this epic game. Gamers, find out for yourselves. ;)

A Game of Thrones by Tiago 2013-08-28T02:06:00

Nicely done, and something relevant to everyone. AMIRITE?!?

Escape of the Alien by Hexadecima1 2013-08-30T19:37:00

Good start for a platformer, and the randomization kept it interesting for a bit. I would work on the graphics, especially how disruptive the shaking and star thing are. I definitely panicked as the clock ran down, so good job there!

SpeedBall by Ascelate 2013-08-30T19:43:00

Cool game, but hard. I couldn't get CLOSE to beating the 2nd level. I would probably create some "tutorial" levels, just to ease players into the game. (Also, mute button please.)

Fun game overall.

10 Second shooting by Pikkufighter 2013-08-30T19:50:00

Gave me a minute or two of good, simple, fun. :) Add sound and maybe some moving obstacles, and an epic story of a brave warrior trying to bow & arrow his way to the evil castle over the lava horde, where Emperor Magma has stolen and hid away all of the icecream sandwiches from the Poultry Kingdom, then it would be a splendid little game. ;)

MegaPunch by Nick Weihs 2013-08-29T16:18:00

Awesome. I really like the art style, feels like a legitimate gaming world. Exquisite use of the theme.

10 Second Topple by Travis Irby 2013-08-27T22:07:00

I spent way too long playing it incorrectly, trying to place as many shapes in a stack as possible. was at 70 when I realized I needed to get to the rings at the top.

THEN it got fun.

The Clocktower by Colorvade 2013-08-27T01:10:00

Beautiful. Love the clock tower and the whole mood.

Run Buddy by PizzaPranks 2013-08-30T19:53:00

Lag kept me from playing it. Sounds like similar issues. Locked up in upgrade menu. Also, CURSE THAT FIRST SPIKE!

Keeper by sparkleswirl 2013-08-27T03:03:00

Pretty fun. Interesting take on the theme too. Well done on the mood created with the words and audio!

Ten-2nd Scientist by whiteravens 2013-08-29T15:01:00

Haha, not bad. Clever way to try to "land" between 1st and 3rd.

exposure by zillix 2013-08-29T14:56:00

Wow, so beautiful. Love the art, the story, the game mechanic, the game title and intro to controls, everything. Only feedback would be that maybe players would be confused about what to do, but I wouldn't want to take away from the intrigue of exploring and trying to figure out what to do on your own. Well done.

Explosive Space Shuffleboard, A Cautionary Tale of Militant Bueracracy by Ian Small 2013-08-28T05:56:00

Cool idea, would be nice to see it fully functional.

t.i.m.e by Asar Dhandala 2013-08-27T16:38:00

Nice take on the theme! And pretty good for a 3-hr game. :) I got smashed by a lot of clocks, but eventually overcame.

Ten Seconds by motty 2013-08-27T18:50:00

Fun game. Took me a while to conquer.

BUT CONQUER I DID. And how dare you suggest that I used Google to figure out the last clue?!?

One of my favorites so far for sure. It's like my fingers were doing a panicky little dance on the keyboard.

Crazy Genetist by ratalaika 2013-09-04T02:12:00

Very clever use of the theme, definite potential for a full puzzler. I would look into puzzle variations.

The Floor Is Lava by Sloth Jesus 2013-08-27T02:17:00

Nice job! Pretty fun, and I liked how the levels incremented in difficulty nice and smooth, so sucky players like me could enjoy it more. :)

QuickHunt by MvdLaar 2013-08-27T22:14:00

Loved it! Though some of the randomness got in the way (the chickens were nowhere to be found. Maybe they were in the house?) Anyway, well done.

10 Second Sculptor by nathanhoffer 2013-08-27T05:51:00

Very fun. Why isn't this on my iPad?

MAKE IT SO!

Kitty Force 10 by Raiyumi 2013-08-27T04:38:00

So awesome and smooth. So envious of the art. Ya, the bouncing dots did me in too. :(

TrI-Deca by futuristteletex 2013-08-29T15:06:00

Nicely done. I love the art style and unique protagonist. Very clever way to show the countdown timer.

Save by Mizzinx 2013-09-04T03:53:00

Same. It got a little frustrating not having any indications of what to do, and the timeframe was pretty quick. But I finally found the ending. Neat.

Oxy by hbocao 2013-08-27T05:43:00

Fun game overall. I'm not sure if I was close to the end, but I sure panicked when my oxygen ran out. I also felt bad for dave a bit.

Also, we died.

Ghost Pirate's Ship of Treasures by immanuela 2013-08-30T18:15:00

Nice game, the simple gameplay is quite fun. I'd work on graphics, and maybe making the levels more incrementally difficult. Otherwise, well done.

Life'Short by fgielow 2013-08-29T16:24:00

Haha, pretty fun. I really enjoyed the knight's jumping animation for some reason. If you continue working on it, I would cut down on the text some and find ways to tell the story in-game.

Well done.

Baldaquin by Marcellus 2013-09-04T03:57:00

Hmm, couldn't get past F7 at first. I'll just blame my keyboard and give you the benefit of the doubt. :)

Drone Ring by mychairhasalooin 2013-08-27T01:38:00

Very cool. Either I suck (most likely) or it escalates much quicker than anticipated. I would consider slowing the escalation quite a bit. I love the graphics and the clever take on TD!

Super Unstable TransDimensional Weapon Assassins X by superfoonly 2013-08-29T21:09:00

Haha, nice. Your sprites looked cool, I wished they were animated; wanted to see them run and jump around.

Also, with that weapon-switching mechanic, I would consider adding a lot more weapons and keeping it interesting/chaotic for a while with new weapon combinations.

Cop and Bomber RUSH! by PixlWalkr 2013-08-27T15:24:00

FUN! Of course I played left hand vs. right hand. Right hand kept winning. And yes, I DO have friends.

Atomic Warning by kleyson220 2013-08-28T02:09:00

LOVED the whole "cluttered desk" idea. Frustrating and hilarious!

O by Once Upon a Team 2013-08-27T16:47:00

I love the graphics and had fun trying to survive. Very creative little enemy creatures. I had a little trouble understanding when/how I was losing tentacles; it seemed too far out of my control, or random. Overall I enjoyed it.

Distraction by andwhatnot 2013-08-27T15:12:00

Fun little plat...former? Unique gameplay. Maybe a little confusing, which only shows how little I understand the meaning of my own life. *sigh* ;)

Hourglass by DoubleS 2013-08-30T18:29:00

Nothing like a little orb-dodging to keep me on my toes. Love the graphics. LOVE the use of the "10 seconds" theme!

Defuse in 10 seconds by archaeometrician 2013-08-28T02:47:00

What a blast. The screenshot of the game made me think it would be boring, but instead it was one of the most intense games I've played! Awesome.

Guild of Brothers by kantieno 2013-08-27T02:22:00

Very clever idea! I had a bit of trouble with the controls, but LOVED the whole hero-changing thing. Definitely potential for this kind of gameplay!

Time Rupture by Tanser 2013-08-27T16:53:00

Great idea, and I love the pixel art. I kept "spawning" in the middle of crystals/structures and was therefore unable to move but at least I was safely stuck near my ship. :) Nice job overall!

The Dollhouse Curse by Saf 2013-08-27T01:32:00

Fun game. The lagginess really got in the way for me, even in Chrome. You've done well in implementing a simple "match a pair" mechanic and made it intriguing and fun. Nice. The "you got a match!" sound kept scaring me. :)

10" to rise by canvapps 2013-08-29T21:03:00

Pretty unique take on the theme, and very unique type of game. I got kind of stuck after a bit, but assumed it was because I skipped any instructions, so I didn't blame the game. :)

Time To Say Goodby by Satyre 2013-08-27T03:50:00

I'm a lousy space technician. It took me a while, but I finally saved the day. Fun game, clever idea.

10 Seconds Before Flush by Geeks-n-chicks 2013-08-27T16:26:00

I like the graphics, like the idea, definitely has potential! I'm not a HUGE fan of poop-based games, but at least you have a solid premise and goal, right? :) I would work on easing in on the difficulty, at least make it possible to jump the first flower without getting dinged. People like not dying right at the beginning. :)

Seasons by awesomesauce 2013-08-28T20:45:00

I like the art and ambience you created, very well done. I kinda wish it went a bit faster, movement-wise. I think the need to be "patient" and wait for the correct season to come around was a cool game mechanic. Nice.

Proletarian Ninja X by deepnight 2013-08-28T19:35:00

Add me to the butt-kissers list. ;)

Very cool game, loved the gameplay and graphical style. There have been a lot of games in a similar style, but most had collision and control issues that kept them from awesoming all over the place like this one does.

Funny, my game is sort of opposite in scope, though it also has a ninja in it. somewhere.

Chronodrive by ekun 2013-08-28T02:13:00

Pretty cool idea. I would have played it more but it kept lagging on my; could have been my browser or something. Well done!

Every Ten Seconds A Kitten Drowns by matthias_zarzecki 2013-08-27T04:46:00

I'm not very good at saving kittens. Pretty fun game that I suck at. I had trouble seeing the details, like it was nighttime or something. Maybe it would benefit to light it up a bit more?

Plibz by Seismo 2013-08-27T03:08:00

Not bad! It was a lot easier once I realized I could MOVE AROUND! :) The indestructable spikes are a great way to add to the difficulty of the game!

ToTheRescue by SaiKai 2013-08-27T22:21:00

Fun game. The intense music an sound effects really added to the "mood" for sure. Nicely done.

10 seconds to run by Danvil 2013-08-29T22:12:00

Love the idea, and love the LEGS. After about 5 levels, I couldn't jump across the chasm, tried about 15 times, gave up. It looked like I was falling through some of the cubes.

So, great job other than some weird issues like that.

And I like the legs.

Keep Flying by bushmango 2013-08-29T21:16:00

LOL, very fun, and poopy, and the audio was voice...tastic?

Very enjoyable.

And I sucked at it.

The Cave Of Lights by galman 2013-08-30T15:08:00

Nice job on this one. I found it on Kongregate. :) Love the pixel graphics, and the use of the theme.

Feather & Son by Carduus 2013-08-27T02:12:00

I like the clever way you control both characters differently, very cool. Love the art too. It did escalate in difficulty pretty quickly, but still fun.

Escape the Office by sendmorepeople 2013-08-27T22:25:00

Ya, great idea. For some reason, my mouse/look was way too sensitive, and moving it 1mm would turn me all the way around. I'm pretty sure that's a Mac thing, so I still did my best to play the game. Pretty tough, but I like the idea for sure.

Loopy Lumberjack by UndergroundPixel 2013-08-29T22:06:00

LOL, funny and fun. I just missed the top 10 leader board! Those slow mud puddle worm things sure got frustrating, but still a fun experience overall.

(Psst, my game has an angry lumberjack in it too! Now we're buddies!)

Solarions by Photon 2013-08-27T03:59:00

Very fun and clever! I had a bit of trouble at first figuring out what was going on, but once I understood lifespan and reload times and such, then I was able to play a bit more strategically. It's definitely worth refining, I think. Fun.

ROBOT PLANET by GeorgeBroussard 2013-08-28T20:00:00

I love the intensity. After a few tries, I made it to level 10, then got stuck for a split second then panick-hammered the arrow keys, then died. Love the art too. I would maybe continue tweak the weapon blasts to better show who they're coming from; the difference in size and color weren't enough to differentiate, for me anyway.

Great game overall. Also loved the sound.

Time Flies Straight by mrspeaker 2013-09-04T02:22:00

Fun, trippy, original, pondery. Well done, Mr. Speaker. (or Mrs. Peaker)

LD28 — You Only Get One

You Only Get One Ship by Yaru 2013-12-18T18:18:00

Nice. Very simple game mechanic, works well. I got to 29s then gave up. :)

Abe: Candlehunter! by gavintlgold 2013-12-17T03:30:00

Great job finishing a game! Great idea! I had trouble with the mechanics of it, but maybe it was my fat fingers.

Shine by AdventureIslands 2013-12-18T07:09:00

Beautiful game. Love the theme implementation.

The Last Flight by travislucia 2013-12-19T21:15:00

I love this game's potential. And the hero/chopper looks so adorable. Love the games' sense of epicness on a small scale. Ya, a bit buggy (respawned in the rocks a few times), but hey, 48 hours!

Of Life and Death by jsspiegel 2013-12-17T03:38:00

Ya, great job!

Glitcher //nuts = 1 by 01rafael 2013-12-17T03:40:00

Ya, love the character. I did have trouble with the mouse swipe though. But I rated graciously. :)

Monopathy by azurenimbus 2013-12-17T21:03:00

I love all your stuff. Always so smart and "simple." This one was great, maybe a bit touchy on the controls. Awesome overall.

Natural Sheep Care by nka 2013-12-17T02:19:00

Beautiful world, fitting music, great gameplay idea. I sure had trouble getting bullets before losing my ONE SHEEP. Maybe I was too aggressive? Great job!

SUPERBLADE by folmerkelly 2013-12-19T21:04:00

So fun. So fun. Simple and fun and tense.

That moment when you find you've been playing it for a bit, mouth open in a goofy smile. while at work.

8bit Rebellion by havana24 2013-12-17T21:50:00

Haha, great game.

Backwater Rider by Dyn 2013-12-17T02:48:00

Hmm, I got "Sorry, page not found."

You only get one arrow by tobbez 2013-12-17T21:23:00

I couldn't get past the first few rooms. Maybe if I had more arrows… :)

Stellar Delusion - LD28 - You Only Get One Planet! by wulfdesign 2013-12-19T20:55:00

Great idea. The controls got a bit frustrating after some time, but I still enjoyed the challenge!

Some Day by Colorvade 2013-12-18T18:30:00

Love it. There are a few bugs, but you had 48 hours. I love the sense of vastness, the art, the exploration, the talking mailbox. Bookmarked to play later when i have more time. Well done.

Pan-Dimensional Roboids by PapaGrimbles 2013-12-18T07:00:00

Love the concept. Very well polished considering the time. Loved the graphics too!

E pluribus unum by IHateATMFees 2013-12-17T03:15:00

Nicely done, very polished. Great puzzle mechanic. I gave up on level 4 though, and I'm pretty good with puzzles too, or so I tell myself.

intervalo by Manuel Magalhães 2013-12-18T06:43:00

Great concept! I had trouble seeing the markers at the bottom at first, but then I got it.

Doomba by Unept 2013-12-18T20:05:00

Thanks all for the great feedback.

@Photon, it's based on a meme I saw on reddit.com/r/funny a while ago, where people taped real weapons to their roombas and called them doombas. But the game idea didn't come up until brainstorming for this LD.

Fever Blue by Raiyumi 2013-12-17T23:36:00

Love the game design, theme implementation, art, etc. Awesome.

Medieval Fantasy Island by aayars 2013-12-17T21:29:00

Very impressive! I had some control/lag hangups, but overall I liked it!

Pete, The Petard by Saf 2013-12-18T07:04:00

Haha, liked it. Nice art.

Earth Prime by Satyre 2013-12-17T21:31:00

Pretty great job for 12 hours! I would consider adding more visual feedback so players know what happens when they click, stuff like that.

Wilhelm's Escape by glovecat 2013-12-17T02:40:00

Hmm, I clicked the Web link, but it didn't take me to the game.

Breathe by ryanmurakami 2013-12-17T02:28:00

Interesting, I confessed and ended up with the Good Ending. Woohoo! I win!

Trial by afterisk 2013-12-17T03:00:00

I got 1,650. That's good. right? What's my prize?

Well done! So polished!

My only feedback would be that I felt like I was guessing a little bit more than I would have liked. But overall a tremendous job.

Purpose by deepnight 2013-12-19T22:49:00

Beautiful game. Smart puzzles. Touching idea, giving life to the tree. Glad you were able to get something in for the Jam at least!

Before Night Falls by WetDesertRock 2013-12-17T05:05:00

Hey, great puzzle mechanic! It'd be interesting to flesh it out a bit more. Well done!

You Are Disabled by Cory Martin 2013-12-19T22:18:00

Nice game. Great graphics, and a game mechanic that can prick you to the core. well done.

Mama is Sick by JaymeeMak 2013-12-17T02:55:00

Wow. sobering and powerful. Something I should have my kids play when they complain about their "third world problems." Well done!

One Look by bluemanshoe 2013-12-17T03:14:00

Nice mood. Got a little freaked with headphones in. Well done.

Get a Job! by Coin Flip Games 2013-12-17T02:47:00

Love the idea! Maybe I did something wrong though, because I couldn't understand how the coffee worked. I had many angry coffee buyers. :)

Existence by donaldducky 2013-12-17T03:22:00

Great job on this. I felt a little bad, since the tree was pleading with me. But it had to be done.

Mime Time by GrinCreative 2013-12-17T03:46:00

Haha, enjoyed the mood for sure. Nice idea, would love to see it fleshed out!

Curse of the Glass Eye, You only get one eye! by MdotEdot 2013-12-17T05:40:00

Hey nightmares, why don't you come have a game of pinball with me! ;)

The Initiate's Spell by Nut 2013-12-17T19:16:00

AWESOME. I love the depth of the game, totally surprised me. Very well thought through. Also, sucks to get cornered by a sheep.

Played against myself. And I WON! I like the solid controls. Interesting concept.

Fun AND educational. Now I have to go google "Lisbon Mischief."

Cool concept. Dangerous ducks.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Attack Of The Beaver by elitegamesindustries 2014-12-11T00:09:00

Nice job. I agree with what Robber says about chopping instantly. I would also add something to the logs to show the instant they got hit. With the slow animation, still not sure exactly whether you hit the log or not. If people are confused, you'll probably want to give more visual cues for them. It would be cool if after so many chops in a row, you could fling a log back at the beaver, and that number went higher each time. I was a little confused about the ghost trees showing up and falling down. Overall nice job.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Primer by alvivar 2015-08-27T03:58:00

Hey, great job on this. Definitely something there. I'd say keep feeling around for a better way to move/jump/teleport at the same time; that can be a bit convoluted on keyboard. But great job overall!

Micromancer by radmars 2015-08-25T19:39:00

Hey, love the graphics and the take on the theme. I can't get past level 2, am I missing something? One of my favorites so far!

Hydra by JoeProgram 2015-08-27T19:30:00

THIS GAME. Nearly everything is spot on. I would maybe continue tweaking the dragging, both for better control, and also I think there's potential for more dynamic gameplay in the dragging part of the game. Well done!

The Trial of Tyrone Rex by Manky 2015-08-28T04:32:00

This was great. I was either smiling or laughing the whole time. Original and fit perfectly with the theme.

A Bad Wolf King is Hard to Feed by McFunkypants 2015-08-27T04:36:00

Though I may be a bit nauseous, I commend you on your game. It was beautiful and clever. The camera view was a bit odd, and I got small bouts of vertigo, but a pleasant experience anyway. Nice job!

Who Shot First by CheesyRamen 2015-08-27T19:38:00

Great take on the theme here. I love how it's not straightforward. Good use of color and simple graphics. Bullet sounds could definitely be improved. :) Nice job overall!

Peace is a lie! by komjaur 2015-08-25T20:06:00

Nice, fun little game. I don't quite get the theme tie-in, but had a blast playing it!

Love at first sight by LMT 2015-08-26T21:14:00

Great game! Unique mechanic and I love how it ties to the theme. I had some issues with the controls/collisions, but hey, 72 hours. Well done!

Nice job on this. Great mood created through the visuals, sound, and game mechanics. Very nice papers-please-like. :)

Sucker Punch by Shaw 2015-08-27T04:16:00

Haha, nice. My main feedback would be that other than the floating mines, I wasn't sure what was hurting me. So maybe a bit more clarity as to what hurts you and what doesn't? Very funny and clever take on the theme. Nice!

Monster Destroy Things by Cory Martin 2015-08-25T16:02:00

Who needs therapy when you can play this game? Solid design, sounds, graphics, super duper song. well done, as usual.

Gravity Snake by lessmilk 2015-09-02T19:44:00

Nice game. Great puzzles. It does look a lot like Snakebird, which I guess takes away from the innovation a bit. But well done nonetheless!

Volcano Charge by Pantelis Petsopoulos 2015-08-25T04:56:00

Ya, nice concept. I can see the seed of an interesting mobile game in there. The death howl hurt my ears w/headphones on. :)

Frankenstein: Do-It-Yourself! by t4u 2015-08-25T16:06:00

Nice idea. A bit tedious with the clicking, but I'm not a big turn-based RPG person. Great job for 48 hours though!

Crossy Chasm by ceosol 2015-08-25T05:17:00

Nicely done. Nice graphics. Had trouble figuring out the upgrade screen, but I'm not much of an idler. :)

Death of a Lich by managore 2015-08-25T21:30:00

Great job on this. Amazing, unique game mechanics, especially the collection of souls and how it ties to # of lives when resurrecting. Man I love the pixel art. I hope you're looking for a nice soundtrack to this baby.

PokEscape: Magicrap's Stealthy Journey for Survival & Gyrodeuce by Tuism 2015-08-27T04:11:00

Nice job. I've minimal knowledge of Pokemon, but enough to see the twist. Nicely done. Great graphics and solid controls.

Iron Cog Goblin by Lolninjacatz 2015-08-25T19:01:00

Good start. The sneaking with the barrels is an interesting idea.

The Banana Eater by Dizzyman572 2015-08-25T04:52:00

LD33 Winner, best audio. Especially the "song" at the end.

Your Are The Slime! by Andrew Patton 2015-08-27T04:20:00

Nice idea. All that button-mashing really put me in the mindset of something that digests slowly. Very funny.

Virion Alpha by Bloodyaugust 2015-08-25T17:14:00

Great job on this. I love these cell-like games! Love the feel of the pixel graphics as well.

Crazy Monster Drivers by shimage 2015-08-25T17:35:00

Interesting. I'm not sure I could get the frog to work correctly. The glider monster worked best for me. Bike was way slower, which I guess makes sense.

The Monster Inside by xWarZonex 2015-08-25T16:18:00

Great job overall. The simple graphics worked well. Great song. :) Unique touch on the countdown after reaching rage, that added a lot to the game. Great mood. Good job.

Player Rush by Hot Box Games 2015-08-30T01:40:00

Not bad. The graphics are top notch, as well as the tie in to the theme. Going against a raid, awesome. It felt a little bit like you spent too much time on visual polish and not enough on gameplay, because the gameplay could have used some refinement. Maybe another attack type, or defense, something like that. Overall, great job!

Raging Snowman by ETHproductions 2015-08-25T05:03:00

Not bad. Cool idea, with the growing/shrinking, needing to get hit to stay loaded.

The Feeding by 5k0d 2015-08-25T19:58:00

Clever take on the theme. Nicely done.

Fragmented Reality by merrak 2015-08-25T16:40:00

Great, great job on this. Great use of storytelling through the level design. Hopefully players will get through the first couple levels to see how intentional the design was. Great ending!

Fired by Evergreen Games 2015-08-27T19:19:00

Hey, great job on this. I actually liked the controls, they were new, so required some learning, but that fit with the challenge of the game. Nice touch tying a story to a bullet. Clever!

Impassioned Fowl by Nebulaic Toaster 2015-08-25T16:24:00

So deep. Like I'm literally staring into the minds of geese in flight. :)

Boss Stomp! by MrDave 2015-08-27T19:07:00

Love this! Very unique idea. I would consider tweaking the controls a bit more, so the unpredictability remains, but maybe a little more movement occurs with the key press. Anyway, great job!

Bloodworm by Jonathan Whiting 2015-09-04T16:24:00

Great take on snake/snakebird mechanics! Love the whole thing. The pixel art, gameplay, theme tie-in. I played it slowly and didn't get shot much, so it was easy to get everywhere. So my first thought was to have more dire consequences to getting shot, but in the end it balanced out, as the end coins required being longer. Plus the game would be different if I was trying for speed. So ya, great balance overall. Perhaps another enemy type would be interesting, but whatevs, 48 hours. Great job.

The Sacrifice by foxboard 2015-08-25T17:00:00

Wow, thanks for making me feel like a monster. Ugh. Great game, great tie-in to theme. Wow.

Free Hugs Kraken by crucknuk 2015-08-27T17:20:00

This game has made me laugh the most. Nice innovative gameplay with the dual arm controls. And the matchmaking, nice.

Vermy The Vomiting Zombie by Gray Sullivan 2015-08-27T17:15:00

Nice effort here. I love the pixel art and love the idea! Who hasn't dreamed of protecting their treasure trove by vomiting on intruders, right? I would consider speeding up the gameplay all around: running speed, firing speed, even the music.

You are the Hero by rotpar 2015-08-25T17:29:00

I was really enjoying it, then it locked up on me. (Safari). Nice graphics and cool idea so far. I'm hoping/assuming there's a twist to the story eventually.

Snail Muncher by dustinaux 2015-09-03T22:55:00

Great graphics. Great job on your first attempt at music, sounds great! Movement/collisions were a little sticky, but no biggie.

Many Jumping Men Are Coming by tullyhansen 2015-08-25T05:08:00

Haha, nice. I would suggest speeding it up a bit at first, no need to keep it super easy for that long. I like it!

Tales of the Memory Dragon by raducumiczzz 2015-08-25T20:11:00

I love the art and really like the 5-key gameplay. Very different. I would definitely look into showing more what happens when the key is pressed, like maybe a fireball of the matching color shoots the bird or something. Well done.

Hunting Treasure by Arachne 2015-08-28T03:05:00

Hey great job. Very clever take on the theme. There's potential here; you could delve deeper into the game mechanic of doing things to create attraction while avoiding revelation. Interesting idea!

Greetings, Human by boardtobits 2015-08-25T17:21:00

Great job on this. Very innovative and unique take on the theme. Reminds me of Papers, Please, which is a great thing.

FTLOL by team_ftlol 2015-08-25T20:03:00

Note to self: don't fix the frayed wiring with the ship's fuel. Nicely done! I'm not very good at it though.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Gear Kitty by Raiyumi 2016-08-31T16:53:00

Amazing on all levels. Great art, great theme-based gameplay, you kept the scope of the game simple, and the audio is perfect.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Emoji by Ava Skoog 2019-10-08T16:45:42Z

Very cute. A little odd changing the function of the number keys, but I was eventually able to plant a cute garden. (Couldn't figure out bricks though) :)

Master Builder Daedalus by Ithildin 2019-10-08T15:21:58Z

This is very, very clever. I admit I played a couple levels without rotating the blocks, but still eventually passed them! But toward the end that was impossible. A lot of potential with this concept.

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-10T20:46:46Z

Great game, Joe. Theme, gameplay, mood, all of it. It's always tough to manage a game in which a player has to jump between mouse and keyboard controls (instead of using them in conjunction like in FPS games) but you've done as well as one could hope. I think most players just had to take a moment to get used to the control combination like I did. I also dig the pixel art, very solid. (It did feel like the 4-directional block design arose from the game deadline looming, perhaps?)

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-11T02:22:55Z

@joe-williamson I totally agree, it very much felt like a reward for having made it that far in the game. Almost like an upgrade or ability unlock.

lotor by torcado 2019-10-08T12:43:19Z

So clever. Totally fits the theme, is innovative, and fun. Some of the obstacles are very innovative, like the flashing squares. (though I wish they were a teeny bit smaller.) You managed to take a "random" mechanic and still give players the ability to have control over making a level to some extent.

Panspermia by bloodyaugust 2019-10-08T02:50:49Z

LOVE the art style and the overall feel of the game. The floaty characters match the floaty gameplay. Floaty.

Pocketon Peak by bwalter 2019-10-11T15:34:51Z

This looks super fun, but for some reason I couldn't get it to work on my (Windows 7) PC. I'll try again tonight. :(

Bob by Flaterectomy 2019-10-08T17:15:24Z

I love this idea! Very clever way to start with nothing and build. I did keep "dying" while I thought I was on my raft island but was technically in the water. Love the art style as well.

Nüllptr by egordorichev 2019-10-08T15:07:42Z

Nicely done. Great art. I died too many times within a few pixels from the power up I really needed. I'd probably like it to be a tiny bit easier. Great job using art to differentiate so many on-screen elements.

The Choice of Life: Middle Ages by Xakkar 2019-10-10T19:37:59Z

This was so fun! :D Reminds me of Reigns, but your version has some original mechanics to it. Nicely done, and I love the humor! (I was attacked by a horse, and the mad animal ate my whole crop).

FOREST NINJA WIZARD GHOST by johnnysix 2019-10-09T21:57:52Z

Finished the game. So cool seeing it all clear up like that! I also LOVED the frantic, fast-paced jumping around, trying to stay away from the cats. It felt a little out of control, but was fun to play around in there anyway. Nicely done.

Planet Jumpers by Adrenallen 2019-10-09T21:45:07Z

HTML5 link is not working for me?

You Gotta Be Kitten Me by Silas Reinagel 2019-10-10T19:46:59Z

Nice little dungeon crawler! Well done designing the levels incrementally based on the ability pick-ups!

Amor Fati by starvingindie 2019-10-08T16:32:01Z

Feel-Good game of the jam for sure. Well done creating a short, sweet experience. Also good use of color, and the heart animations are splendid.

Chroma by yyam 2019-10-08T15:37:00Z

Good work here. Good level design, though it's always a bit tricky relying on toggling elements mid-jump like this. I may have seen this mechanic before, but you executed it really well. The music was nice, but the sfx didn't quite jive with it, but that's ok for a jam game. Overall great game! (Oh, the game wouldn't fully load on Safari for Mac, it seemed to lock up at 95%. Works great in Chrome.)

Higher Desire by ColeSlaughter 2019-10-09T21:43:45Z

Nice game. Great art and ambience, though some of the sound fx were kind of jarring for such a meditative theme. The breathing rhythm mechanic was a nice touch, but maybe a little fast. #pickles

Veni, Vidi, Upgradici by Kornel 2019-10-10T12:30:55Z

SO FUN. While this concept has been seen before (if you're old like me), you did a great job of making it original and a blast to play. (There's an old Flash game called Upgrade Complete you should take a quick look at.) As far as constructive criticism, I had to look very hard to find anything. If you're moving up or down, the camera movement doesn't allow you to see ahead of you very far. Also, an enemy seemed to spawn right where I was standing once. But those are nitpicky little marks on a fabulous game. Probably my fav game of this jam.

Untitled Goop Game by unept 2019-10-08T20:19:59Z

@nerdysl0th, You're right on about the collisions. I'll look into a more grid-like sticking system, or at least 8 cardinal directions.

Time Shelter by Max S. 2019-10-10T12:49:38Z

Nice job! It did feel a bit tedious having to move around so slowly, especially when retracing my steps so often. Well done in expanding the story as you played.

When Nothing Came by velvetlobster 2019-10-10T19:33:27Z

Wow, what a great experience. It was a little laggy in my browser, but what a great idea using point-and-click this way!

Bumparound by beepyeah 2019-10-08T02:42:11Z

Nailed the theme. Incredibly clever use of the scoring/lives system, giving the player more agency in a game that would otherwise lead to frustrating dead ends. Well done.

Tale of the Toad King by Beebo Studios 2019-10-08T17:02:25Z

Nice idea. Great art! It became a bit frustrating seeing toads on lily pads and behind puddles that I assumed I could pick up, but just died. Nice take on snake mechanic.

Cast Away by OrdiNeu 2019-10-08T12:19:02Z

Nicely done. You made an ostensibly complex game genre into something simple and intuitive. And the day-night cycle seems perfectly balanced.

Pandorama by CrazyHomeboys 2019-10-11T15:32:13Z

This was so fun! You know by now that there are a million games like this in the jam. But you did so well with the game feel, art, sound, screenshake, all that, to make it stand out. Well done.

SHOCK by Ossi 2019-10-08T13:01:25Z

Nicely done. I was skeptical about using the mouse to move, but very quickly fell in love with it. The levels felt a bit repetitive, but great concept overall!

Absorb by dimlight 2019-10-11T15:27:37Z

Nicely done. Nice art and animation. There are a bunch of "start with no abilities" games in this jam, and you did well using the absorption theme with the ants, grasshoppers, rhino beetle, etc.

The Life Spirit by Cobear25 2019-10-08T02:53:06Z

Like the others have said, there is a really good concept in here that could be worth exploring further. I love simple gameplay using "elements" like this. Very clever.

CELL WARP / セルワープ by irock 2019-10-08T12:29:42Z

Love the concept. Like you said, might be worth exploring further. Moving with the mouse and "attacking" with the arrows feels a little weird, like it's opposite day, but it's probably the best way to play the game. Great work as usual.

Memory Palace by MattWagar 2019-10-08T17:33:39Z

This is incredible. Your game forced me to create a story about a leviathan rising from the depths, eating an oil tanker, the hero's grandfather viewing the destruction from the family lighthouse, and the laser spectacles the hero would need to defeat the leviathan. What a great tool for idea generation and maybe writer's block! Seriously!

Jumping Jack Flash by jutjuan 2019-10-09T21:51:41Z

Well done finishing a playable build! It's a solid core for a platformer. I did find it difficult needing to think about using multiple keys at once or in rapid succession to pass a level, I've never been super fond of that on a keyboard. That kind of thing seems to work better with controllers for some reason. The double jump level seemed buggy. I died a dozen times trying to pass it, then suddenly I was able to do 4-5 air jumps and passed the level.

Egg Farm by kuviman 2019-10-10T19:50:32Z

This was so good. Great art style, I love the minimalism, but it was all very clear. Also the "?" hints helped a ton, otherwise the game would have been frustrating. Nicely done!

The Glowing Adventure by Clickbait 2019-10-10T19:27:12Z

Hey great little game. I dig the art style. The music seemed a bit too chill and relaxing, considering I was battling for my life against giant, ghost-white spiders. :D Nice work!

HONK by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2019-10-11T15:33:44Z

Hmm, I couldn't get it to work on my PC. (Dusted off my Windows 7 PC to install it) But I've watched plenty of gameplay videos, looks super fun!

Trick or Retreat by Lone_Wolf 2019-10-11T15:30:37Z

Nicely done here. I love the concept of having to trick or treat while dodging military bombings. The gameplay itself was a little stiff, however. Well done overall!

PXL IT by Ulisses 2019-10-11T15:29:15Z

Nice! Very clever game idea. I loved how you know exactly what to do the moment you begin moving around. So intuitive! I did feel like some of the enemies spawned and began moving super quick, which felt a little bit unfair. But overall nice job!

NoControl by simXple 2019-10-10T12:40:02Z

Nicely done! It's like a little template for a metroidvania game. The keyboard controls were a little bit goofy when needing to do complex movements. But great job overall.

In the beginning by djee 2019-10-09T22:11:53Z

There are some really good ideas in here! Sure, a little polish with the controls, level designs, and flow would help a little, but overall nice idea. I've always liked the idea of being able to access different parts of a level based on your color/possessions/costume/etc. I'd work on refining some of the basics, like the player's movement and level designs.

I Have No Mouth, And I Must Create Blocks On All Sides Of Me by draknek 2019-10-10T13:04:01Z

Nice puzzle game. I got to level 12 before my stomach told me time to eat. I'll come back to it. My only feedback would be that some later levels seemed easier than some of the earlier ones. But that could have also been experience making me see the puzzle solutions easier as I went? Nice job overall.

I found myself holding my breath for too long trying to get through rooms, which is probably a sign of how great this game is. ;)

jumpgolf by torcado 2020-04-22T18:55:51Z

Nice job here. Love the mechanics. Love the potential of the level designs. Like the commentator above me, I got stuck in the same place. High quality in all aspects of the game, as expected. :)

Defend Your Plant by bloodyaugust 2020-04-21T13:28:21Z

Nicely done! The grasshoppers can go die.

Spooble: A Search Engine Story by allthebees 2020-04-22T14:14:59Z

This was soooooooo good. I snorted twice while playing it.

Olympus Rise - Greek it alive by RAC-Games 2020-04-23T14:18:39Z

Nicely done. Love the graphic style and the use of ancient lore in the game mechanics. A lot of "torch" games in this jam of course, but your game did such a great job of implementing it. The movement/collisions felt a bit wonky, but not a big deal at all. Great job overall!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-21T14:36:28Z

Nice job on all aspects of the game. Innovation, art, sound, gameplay, fun factor. And well done making for a quick restart after player death.

Angst by Silas Reinagel 2020-04-22T13:57:01Z

Wow what a great job creating the mood. Gave me anxiety. Well done there. I loved the art and how the sounds of work differed so much from the blackout. Collisions were a bit odd, but no biggie. Well done.

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-22T13:33:48Z

Great job on the mood, humor, and simple yet satisfying visuals. Definite potential here. Instructions, while clever, were a bit long-winded. Great job overall!

Solais by dragonxvi 2020-04-23T13:55:53Z

Super solid game. Well done using the limited pico palette to create such a vibrant world. And the movement/jumping felt so juicy and right.

Soul Seed by unept 2020-04-25T13:43:04Z

@aik One of the doors has 2 green things, you may need to double back. :)

Soul Seed by unept 2020-05-04T14:38:55Z

@ziplockbagman Starseed Pilgrim is one of my fav games ever. I still think about it all the time.

Thanks all for your feedback and for playing my game!

Hope by Darylsteak 2020-04-22T14:01:33Z

Loved the mood and pixel art here. Played fine for me, despite all the warnings. :) I enjoyed the puzzles and problem solving a lot. Great job putting this together in such a short time!

Rise of the Purple Slime by NateTheGreat 2020-04-23T20:36:20Z

Great game. Fun sandbox play with goals. I couldn't get past level 4 but enjoyed it anyway.

Mount Ookie by Brusi 2020-04-24T14:55:55Z

Nicely done here. Nice pixel art. Nice game idea. The jumping was kinda odd at first, but you get used to it. It's kinda similar to my game (but I promise I'm not trolling for votes.)

It Came From Inside! by Ziamor 2020-04-23T14:25:22Z

This was great! Game would have become somewhat dull without adding the charging beetle thing and the bat thing. They made it super interesting. Well done designing the levels with the strengths and weaknesses of each "creature." Sweet little jam game.

Mother Hen by beepyeah 2020-04-21T13:31:21Z

This was incredibly solid in so many ways. Nice use of color, sound, theme, humor, all of it. The roosting animation only gave me a few seizures. I also kept accidentally restarting the levels.

My Friend Phil by Conroy 2020-04-23T19:16:12Z

Hey not bad! I couldn't remember seeing any control instructions, so was confused for a while until I accidentally pressed 'E' and threw Phil. I loved how phil was also the weapon. Funny. The wall jump was a little hard to deal with, but fine for a jam game. Also, I'd recommend speeding up the game over loop and get players playing quicker. Yes I died a lot. :)

Noble by SludgeKey 2020-04-22T14:10:12Z

Love the looks of this game. It felt more like a toy to me than a game, though. But maybe I was missing something. I would also suggest a bit more visual feedback when dragging and matching, so the players get a better idea what's happening. I clicked on the fastest button and things went crazy quickly. I love the art.

Keep the LEVEL ALIVE! by magicera 2020-04-21T14:28:57Z

Nice idea. Had some fun bashing bad guys. It was a little buggy, sometimes I was stuck floating, overall nice job.

Star Keeper (Ludum Dare 46) by Cobear25 2020-04-21T14:19:23Z

This was fun! It took me too long to figure out the benefits of planting trees. That really adds innovation to the gameplay, well done. I would consider adding some leeway on the slingshot so it grabs the stars when they're close, not just colliding. Great job overall!

Nice. Though v hard. Learning to flap while occasionally pressing X was a brain melt. Also got pretty laggy while holding the blob. Love the bg clouds. ;)

Giant Blobs From Mars by Almighty Games 2020-04-22T16:21:41Z

The idea here is really cool. I love the simplified RTS idea of keeping the blob alive. It did get a bit boring waiting for the higher energy blobs to "finish" but it is still pleasantly addicting gameplay. Well done!

It Lives by Sbug 2020-04-21T18:34:14Z

Since when do I look tastier than a fat sheep? Great game. So well done. Great mood, solid mechanics.

Out of Juice by Mungo_ 2020-04-22T17:51:38Z

Great job with this! You did a great job in presenting challenges that required more thought than initially assumed, which makes for a great game. While the combination of limited jumps, cables and wall jumps were a bit brain-melting, it made for a very fulfilling experience once a harder level was completed. I would recommend tweaking the in-air movement a little bit. Overall great job!

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-21T18:51:51Z

Nice job. Great mood. And you NAILED tying the mechanic to the story. I got stuck in a couple places, but overall it was fun. I found myself wishing for an indicator of where the previous shot went, but I guess that would take away from tying the mechanic to the story so strongly.

MELT by mmatt_ugh 2020-04-21T17:47:57Z

So well done. It's difficult to get a game this balanced in such a short time (something I always fail at.) I really liked the merging of action and puzzle, strategic use of firing the bow, especially with the jumping and moving enemies.

I've already seen a few battery-themed games, but you did great with this one. I'd say some of the levels were a bit too precision-based, which isn't my fav sort of game, but despite that you did will with level design. I'd maybe consider adding some of the newer elements like warp a little bit sooner, but no big deal. I made it to level 13. Level 12 was designed SO WELL. Nice job.

Save the Fish by Duck Reaction 2020-04-22T13:40:53Z

This was so good. While some are saying the confusing instructions and speed were too much, I think that's what gives the game such originality. Players gotta step up to the challenge. I also loved the game over feedback, that helped players want to try again. Loved it.

Ball Monster by marrero171 2020-04-22T17:08:21Z

Nice job on this. I agree with some of the other feedback that it got frustrating having to start from scratch after death. Maybe speed runners would embrace that. :) I liked the clarity of the pixel art. I felt the throwing and jumping controls were a little tough to get used to. I'm curious how gameplay would be if you slowed down the running, jumping, and throwing into a more concise package. Overall well done!

VITAMAN by bubbadubc 2020-04-22T18:46:39Z

Hey, great job on this, especially your first "publicly released" game! Controls felt great, level difficulty felt great. A little explosion or something when an enemy got hit would be nice to see. Well done overall!

Karot Fetus by Dawide 2020-04-21T17:52:40Z

Nice game. Nice mood. I thought I'd hacked the game by standing near the drop-off and just tossing yummy's into the mouth, then I realized the yucky's were actually heading toward the mouth and causing a lot of damage. Forced me to move around a lot more, adding to the challenge. Nice art and sound of course.

Heart Kicker by The Iddmeister 2020-04-22T18:07:09Z

This was so great! I thought the training levels were fine, so was very impressed with the "real" levels. I love the touch of chaos involved with kicking an odd-shaped object around, really added to the fun of the game. Some checkpoints would have been nice in some of the larger later levels. Good music too.

RatJar by PolyOrbit Studio 2020-04-23T14:30:25Z

I absolutely LOVED the camera. The camera itself was its own obstacle to overcome sometimes. Also not sure if this was intentional, but I enjoyed reaching the ramp upward and realizing I needed to back up and actually move forward to get up it. Until then I was just moving left and right. Nice job.

the ruins by ruby0x1 2020-04-22T18:18:36Z

Nicely done. I liked your pixel art style and use of color and negative space. I enjoy explorational platformers like this. I didn't hear any sound, not sure if I was supposed to. Great theme application. A bit of animation would be super cool. But as you said at the end of the game, "jams are jams." Good job overall!
