LD26 — Minimalism

GRAViTRON by grimpunch 2013-04-29T15:32:00

Aw man I love this thing. It's a little confusing to navigate but nothing detrimental; you get the hang of it. Graphics, audio, polish are all great. I think I would've rated it lower if it wasn't for the theme, and I mean that as a compliment.

Octopia by My Sweet Whomp 2013-04-29T21:22:00

Geez that art is amazing! Which is a double edged sword as it makes me feel like the gameplay isn't doing the visuals justice.

Enjoyable though and I'm glad to have played it.

TNAFT by Mysterarts 2013-04-29T21:16:00

I'm not sold on the gameplay, I don't think I "get" it? But I appreciate the polish, details and uniformity of the visuals :)

Colourless by Puccini 2013-04-29T15:35:00

I dig the mechanic, it really is more fun than you'd expect from a bunch of growing and shrinking circles. Nice job!

Primary Reaction by garygreen 2013-04-29T21:18:00

The visuals are garish but totally do it for me somehow. Same with the gameplay, come to think of it; I like it even if it doesn't fully click for me.

Mix by Leebo86 2013-04-29T21:46:00

Nice, but I gotta say I agree with the mouse comments. I think I'd do far better with keyboard controls on this.

AVOID by elmismopancho 2013-04-29T22:22:00

Decent, I enjoyed it.

SLEEP! we have a long way to go by NicoJaujou 2013-04-29T22:14:00

Yo, really awesome color balance, absolutely perfect

And Then There Was Silence by SeriousCreeper 2013-04-29T22:08:00

Visually my favorite game so far. That jump is waaaaay too much though!

Compositions by Kali Purr 2013-04-29T21:08:00

I think your links might be broken.

A Couple of Questions by Brian Corr 2013-04-29T21:13:00

Ha, neat! Love the concept :)

The Last Soul by Gaeel 2013-04-29T22:25:00

Awesome. Most atmospheric entry I've stumbled across so far.

10 Second Language by Loren 2013-04-29T22:18:00

Oh man so soothing! I love this thing.

I can do this forever

why do I keep creating worlds

oh what would this word look like let's try

oh god please let me stop

(accurately sums up my playthrough of the game forever)

xro48 by larb 2013-04-29T21:52:00

I don't get how the game works tbh but great interpretation of the theme.

Clickator by Alexandre Szybiak 2013-04-29T22:12:00

haha fun, and I had no idea how long my standard mouse click was. Also, good job on the polish and details!

Mini male by ayamflow 2013-04-29T21:25:00

haha brutal, basic more than minimal I'd say, and I liked it way more than I thought I was going to!

Colour Runner by alphaatom 2013-04-29T22:21:00

Kinda rough and sparse, but solid.

Schizophrenic Astral Return by saggiosoft 2013-04-29T22:03:00

I dig this. The visuals don't seem to coherent despite clearly being inspired by the theme, which kinda distracts me at times.

Guesses by Waave 2013-04-29T22:24:00

Freaking hard. I am ok with that. Cool game!

Bounce by Elrobo 2013-04-30T08:54:00

Yoooo digging this. Love the idea of a platformer controlled by mouse, and the minimalist but appealing level of polish .

Mondrianalism by TrahDivad 2013-04-29T21:43:00

I don't fully grasp what makes up the balancing but great in concept and intuitive to control.

Proxy by Broxxar 2013-04-29T21:38:00

Pretty decent base for a puzzle platformer! I want to give a shoutout to the background animation, that owns.

Cube Dinosaurs? by PyroSneak 2013-04-29T22:01:00

Enjoyed it! Pretty strong visuals, too.

A-Void by kingsman142 2013-04-29T21:33:00

I enjoy games like this! But the interface is unpleasant, as are the controls (A and D and Space?), and the game doesn't really offer enough visual feedback. It doesn't look like the player is really moving forward and the obstacles are too dark and sudden.

Simplicity by fishbrain 2013-04-29T15:40:00

I liked it. The tone and mood were established and maintained throughout every new piece of information the game offered me. For a text-only game that's pretty much the most I would want out of it.

That said, I don't think that minimalist is the word. That's just my perception and I'm sure others will feel differently but to me the descriptions were vivid and image-conjuring enough to be considered not minimalist.

BLOB by Kvisle 2013-05-01T09:55:00

Awesome! Best platformer I've played so far.

Linemalism by Rubi 2013-04-29T21:49:00

Decent! Definitely fits the theme and I love just making patterns out of it all

Space Captant by Norgg 2013-04-29T21:59:00

I wandered, I bashed, I crashed, I became a better person.

Inside Art by Danvil 2013-04-29T21:28:00

What. I don't know why I keep dying! It looks and feels like there's something cool there but the game is not accessible enough to say for sure

Cube Defender by kratorspore 2013-04-29T21:30:00

Huh, great concept, there's something awesome in there.

i by Muu? 2013-04-29T21:55:00

Basic but I keep retrying, love the player anim for some reason!

Colossal Clean-Up by UndergroundPixel 2013-05-01T09:52:00

Aw man, great art and tight controls, love the franticness of it all.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

10 seconds Are An Eternity by Larzan 2013-08-28T08:15:00

Love the concept! Like, a lot. I played the web version and it's a little rough (it's a jam, can't hold it against you) but it has so much potential.

Good work!

1.863 million miles by netmute 2013-08-28T09:57:00

Barebones as it is, I was getting into it. Definitely worth sticking with

Duke Dashington by AdventureIslands 2013-08-28T09:47:00

Quite polished, neat mechanic. The controls seemed a bit unresponsive but that might just be me sucking at video games.

Planet Monster by 01010111 2013-08-28T10:27:00

Hotdang! Graphics and level of polish are really something! Freaking hard but I'm ok with that.

Thanks for taking on the challenge, you really pulled it off :)

(48Mins) Can You Count To... by nixeldev 2013-08-28T10:08:00

Aw man I like this! So simple but well implemented and easy to get into.

PAC MANy by namuol 2013-08-30T09:05:00

haha this owns! Looking forward to seeing an expanded version.

Gas and Air! by tripleVisionGames 2013-08-28T09:16:00

Aw man, this looks amazing. The gameplay is basic but personally I enjoy that, plus for the vibe of the game it really fits.

Lodestar by folmerkelly 2013-08-28T10:39:00

@ Serilyn and Spiridios: Yeah, when I open my workfile those dolphins spawn guns but in the swf they just spawn nothing. No idea what's up w that. Goes to show just how badly balanced the game is when one option makes it way too hard and the other makes it way too easy, ha.

@ everyone: Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it :)

TooLoong by euske 2013-08-28T09:08:00

Yesssss all of the things on the screen forever!

In all honesty it might be too much but still, I like experiences like that, when everything just gets thrown at you

1000ms by Loren 2013-08-28T09:51:00

F YEAH. Not super intuitive but in a way that only means figuring it out makes you feel really dang good about yourself. Superb use of color and style as usual.

Anhedonia in Memoriam by agumaster 2013-08-28T09:11:00

That is a good friggin color palette.

It was a bit of a chore to play, not the best collision detection and some bugs here and there, or maybe just small niggles rather than actual bugs, but looking through that aspect of it, definitely potential here.

Subject 18120 by deammer 2013-08-30T09:01:00

The first comment mentions Jazz Jackrabbit, that's exactly what it brings me back to. Friggin love it.

The Hero's Journey (or get the treasure and run) by Ludipe 2013-08-30T08:57:00

Quite enjoying the graphics and the mechanic. Also, props for attaching the semi-educational game aspect to it.

Hallucivian by Hypnohustla 2013-08-30T09:36:00

Heck and hell yes, this is perfect.

Gone in 10 Seconds by panurge 2013-08-28T10:10:00

haha nice, digging it.

10 Seconds by rogueNoodle 2013-08-30T09:17:00

Nice, very coherent experience. Oddly enough the first speedrunning based game I've found this compo.

Not sure how I feel about the level switching after death, makes it very hard to progress. Maybe that adds to the overall experience, come to think of it?

Time Surge by Solifuge 2013-08-29T08:58:00

yo I'm too dumb to be good at this but I love the presentation; pixels and music and setting all work really well together.

Ain't Got Time For Lootin' by IHateATMFees 2013-08-30T09:34:00

Solid! The dialogue lifted the whole experience up a notch for me.

CLIMB UP!! by isharacomix 2013-08-28T09:27:00

As a non-technical dude I didn't really care about what it was made with, and I honestly wasn't expecting much... but somehow I really really really dig this thing, it just clicks for me.

Unseen by Neo-Blue 2013-08-29T09:11:00

Mood, through audio and graphics, is amazing. I was more immersed than a jam game usually manages to pull off. Awesome job

TimeTester by UnixXNova 2013-08-28T09:03:00

I got into it, solid entry!

TrI-Deca by futuristteletex 2013-08-29T08:47:00

Love the look and vibe, gameplay isn't super deep but I won't front: If I wasn't committed to making a tower defense game, this exact game probably would've been what i'd come up with for this theme.

Kudos!

Cop and Bomber RUSH! by PixlWalkr 2013-08-29T09:09:00

Aw man that's really neat with the two player thing, really good use of the theme.

Mayfly by targaciej 2013-08-29T11:23:00

I'm super down with this. Hell yes.

Just Desserts by LevelUpJordan 2013-08-28T10:21:00

Well done for a jam game, no doubt about it. Like I told you before, I don't feel that the 10 second theme is super clear, but I do *get* it.

Nut Commander : Squirrels In Fear by Kidney 2013-08-28T08:20:00

ahahaha this is insane but I love it. It's oddly polished in that there's a lot of attention to detail, even if all those details basically clash. The playscreen itself is kinda muted which detracts from the overall experience, might as well have gone bright colors, or even flashing colors on that.

"Save the comrades" - CAT_IN_THE_DARK_WOOD by CAT_IN_THE_DARK_WOOD 2013-08-28T10:04:00

Decent game, Love those portrait graphics.

Origami Wings by team_cow 2013-08-30T09:37:00

Fucking gorgeous.

Hell Pizza by h_double 2013-08-30T09:10:00

I'm not completely sure what I'm doing in this video game but I feel like the answer is "everything".

Distress Signal by Kohijin 2013-08-28T08:48:00

Awesome concept and mood, was really getting into it. The 10 second delay is too long but hey, theme. Would love to see how this plays with like a 1 second delay.

Also, "Signal Quality: 1%" would've been an amazing title for this :)

Coin Rush by lectvs 2013-08-28T09:14:00

Fun! Polish! Dang!

*really* good effort for an LD game, one of the few games with serious replay value. Great work!

Tokyo Station by Mark Ffrench 2013-08-28T08:54:00

Awesome graphics and presentation/use of screen space. Having the time countdown center screen really adds to it for me. There's not enough visual feedback to make it feel like I'm actually progressing or losing; for a while I was just moving the thing around without a clue what I was supposed to do. Went back to the description and figured it out, but more in-game feedback would make it feel a lot more alive.

Thorvald by FunByJohn 2013-08-28T09:23:00

Yo you two are rapidly becoming ludum dare wizards. First Vast and now this? ugh. Stop being so good.

Loved the concept combined with the visuals, I really enjoy the 10 second usage of items- would make for an awesome frantic puzzle game type thing.

ToTheRescue by SaiKai 2013-08-28T08:43:00

Well done! Good pixel art, neat game mechanic, great music, and very good use of the theme. Solid!

Reassessment by tacograveyard 2013-08-28T10:00:00

Hard. Decent though! With some balancing it could be amazing

LD28 — You Only Get One

My First Day at the Snowman Kit Factory! by Loren 2013-12-16T01:52:00

Owns much bones. The essence of game design captured in masterful strokes, never displaying a moment of doubt.

Kudos, sir. Kudos.

YOGO - The Detective Story by psc1997 2013-12-26T14:53:00

Rough, but p much the definition of having its heart in the right place. I'm not into the art style but it is decent

Super Dodging Thing by kotax 2013-12-26T14:47:00

For some reason I love the title, made me check it out. For an "oh shit everything went wrong let me do another thing real quick" entry it's dang solid.

Careful Now by Orangy Tang 2013-12-26T14:43:00

Hard as heck but I was into it, loved the graphics too.

Space to Proceed by Canyon 2013-12-26T14:45:00

Dig the concept and the overall mechanic, have to agree on the frustration levels of the pixel perfect timing but to me stuff like that is basically what LD is all about.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

O-Inari Origami by Solifuge 2014-12-10T10:14:00

This is beautiful. Most striking game I've come across. By far. <3

The Tower by Chaoseed 2014-12-09T12:46:00

I can appreciate a text game that tries to do something different. I actually DO think this one can be rated on graphics, the graphic design aspect makes a real difference in how this game is perceived. I dig it.

Space Melee by reverso13 2014-12-09T12:20:00

I like that you can choose the amount of planets. That just stands out to me as a neat touch. Decent entry overall

1 Screen Hero by zerocreativity1 2014-12-09T14:12:00

Nicely done! Well rounded, polished, solid on graphics, nice way to deal w the theme.

Network Programming by hissssssssss 2014-12-09T12:21:00

ahaha also the art owns idgaf what anyone says

Gingerman And The Christmas Tree by markusfisch 2014-12-09T14:27:00

Nice one, easy to pick up and get into even though the controls aren't conventional.

Stuck In Space by BadPaul34 2014-12-09T12:38:00

I love this, atmosphere and art are super on point. Very good call making the world seem vast and using the HUD to fill in the details.

One Does Not Simply Walk Into More Doors by Wertle 2014-12-08T23:32:00

I was digging this, it's cute as a button and a clever concept. Props

Lone Wolf by KeinBaum 2014-12-09T14:26:00

I actually like the visuals a lot, it just works really well in context. AI felt quite smart, colour me impressed.

ASDF ASDF by alesys 2014-12-09T14:18:00

Good graphics, gameplay is tight but it's hard as heckkkk. some more visual feedback would go a long way, solid effort at any rate! :)

Panorama by Lyje 2014-12-08T13:30:00

Aw man this is lovely, found myself wandering wandering around forever

Platform 31 by Rodaja 2014-12-09T12:51:00

Whoa, so polished! Screenshake! Change language?! Never seen that much attention to the small things in an LD game before!

Game itself: Solid approach to local mp, decent balance between mechanics, power ups, environments. Good job!

Smash the Game by hollowspecter 2014-12-09T12:10:00

P sweet! I'm impressed with the amount of things you managed to get into it, attacks items etc. One of the more fleshed out local MP entries I've seen (and there are a bunch of them this time around for some reason)

Match Cube by lemmily 2014-12-09T12:28:00

Neat concept. Took me a second to figure out how to actually play (I started out just thinking I could switch any block around ) but once I got it I was totally into it :)

Pony Island by Danman9914 2014-12-08T23:49:00

This was super fun. Took me longer than I'd care to admit to figure out what was going on. really awesome work!

DGPOS: Defend the Gun Platforms via One Screen by callumW 2014-12-09T11:59:00

It's unpolished (no death animations when killing enemies, which takes away from the impact of it, and the UI is somewhat unclear because the turret icon is exactly the same as the actual turret) but I'm digging the idea of having a circular tower defines kind of game. Would love to see that explored further!

Reluctant Rudolf by ainokaisa 2014-12-08T23:54:00

Second phase was a neat touch, feel like I should've expected it!

SUPER MOW LAWNER by AMT 2014-12-08T11:13:00

This is straight up hilarious.

Detective vs Killers by tmpxyz 2014-12-08T23:44:00

I'm into the idea of this, gets quite hard though. As a concept, it's something to consider expanding on

Lich Lordz by imaginarymonsters 2014-12-09T14:24:00

Great on graphics, I'm awful at WASD + ARROWS most of the time but I did p ok here. Good stuff :)

Backstage by merzlot 2014-12-09T13:11:00

Well done on the graphics! P slick overall, like the setting, but it was tough keeping the combos and stuff in mind, things got hectic so fast!

Oi! Menu!? by davient 2014-12-09T12:48:00

ahaha nice! So crazy, really satisfying to just mess around and figure things out

Necro Chasm by Hjalte500 2014-12-09T12:12:00

Digging on the graphics, combat is a lil' rough but once I played for a bit and got a feel for how it handles I quite enjoyed it. Good job!

Eschaton by klave 2014-12-09T14:29:00

Love this. Aesthetics and the story hit the right notes for me to the point where I was happy to overlook any frustrations with the interface. Great work!

They Call Me Trap Savage by SpartanIceCream 2014-12-09T14:05:00

swag swag swag

Goblin Rush by goblin 2014-12-09T13:06:00

Visuals and audio are top notch, gameplay indeed lacks variety / challenge

Mascarpone by Domicuc 2014-12-14T12:30:00

Yay Tower Defense! I once ran a campaign (a couple of LD's ago) to try and get as many people as possible to make a TD game no matter what the theme was going to be, so I'm always excited to see them :)

I dig the title, the art is good - and a smart way to go for a time-limited jam!- and just the amount of content you managed to get in here is impressive, kudos to you!

It's definitely hard but TD games are always going to be tricky to balance, especially in such a short amount of time. All in all: Great entry!

Whole Life On One Screen by Demy 2014-12-09T12:42:00

Great interpretation of the theme, this is not my kind of game usually but I found myself wanting to keep going, so well done on keeping me hooked in :)

Houston, We've Got a Problem by MrBadIvan 2014-12-09T13:07:00

Very cool, digging the art and how you tackled the theme!

Jelly Test by deyteris_team 2014-12-09T12:34:00

Dang that's the most polished entry I've come across so far! I kinda wish the destroyed jellies would just stick around forever, eventually turning the whole screen into a giant bath of jelly

Ferchault's Island by SushiDestroy 2014-12-09T12:17:00

Nice one! Love the mood, graphics go a long way in this game. Would like to see the HUD elements rendered the same way for more immersion but that's a small thing and the only real critique I can think of.

"Magic Room" Game, My first Ludum Dare experience :) by Hermitli 2014-12-09T12:23:00

Clever :) Please do expand on this!

Don't Fall by SeriousDeath 2014-12-09T14:22:00

Well done, felt super polished and I dig the use of the theme

Poots! by djk 2014-12-09T11:55:00

Cute! It's actually a take on local MP I haven't seen before, nice work!

Dogs Peeing Everywhere by matt125 2014-12-09T11:50:00

Hilarious :) With some polish on graphics and audio to match the humour of the concept this would be great. The rounds are way too long which makes it feel like a waste of time to do anything until near the end, so please do a post-compo version of this because I would play the hell out of a more frantic version of these dogs.

Peeing.

Everywhere.

Where They Once Were by Hempuli 2014-12-08T23:39:00

Love the atmosphere and the graphics. I wanted to mention each of those though they stand out because they work well together. Kudos!

Shooting Things in Space by oatsbarley 2014-12-09T13:13:00

I shot things in space. I felt good about shooting things in space. Feels / handles really well!

Duck, Jump, Die by Divitos 2014-12-08T23:41:00

haha I got super into this, nice work
