Geez that art is amazing! Which is a double edged sword as it makes me feel like the gameplay isn't doing the visuals justice.
Enjoyable though and I'm glad to have played it.
I'm not sold on the gameplay, I don't think I "get" it? But I appreciate the polish, details and uniformity of the visuals :)
I dig the mechanic, it really is more fun than you'd expect from a bunch of growing and shrinking circles. Nice job!
The visuals are garish but totally do it for me somehow. Same with the gameplay, come to think of it; I like it even if it doesn't fully click for me.
Decent, I enjoyed it.
Yo, really awesome color balance, absolutely perfect
Visually my favorite game so far. That jump is waaaaay too much though!
I think your links might be broken.
Ha, neat! Love the concept :)
Awesome. Most atmospheric entry I've stumbled across so far.
Oh man so soothing! I love this thing.
I can do this forever
why do I keep creating worlds
oh what would this word look like let's try
oh god please let me stop
(accurately sums up my playthrough of the game forever)
haha fun, and I had no idea how long my standard mouse click was. Also, good job on the polish and details!
Kinda rough and sparse, but solid.
I dig this. The visuals don't seem to coherent despite clearly being inspired by the theme, which kinda distracts me at times.
I don't fully grasp what makes up the balancing but great in concept and intuitive to control.
Enjoyed it! Pretty strong visuals, too.
I enjoy games like this! But the interface is unpleasant, as are the controls (A and D and Space?), and the game doesn't really offer enough visual feedback. It doesn't look like the player is really moving forward and the obstacles are too dark and sudden.
I liked it. The tone and mood were established and maintained throughout every new piece of information the game offered me. For a text-only game that's pretty much the most I would want out of it.
That said, I don't think that minimalist is the word. That's just my perception and I'm sure others will feel differently but to me the descriptions were vivid and image-conjuring enough to be considered not minimalist.
Decent! Definitely fits the theme and I love just making patterns out of it all
I wandered, I bashed, I crashed, I became a better person.
What. I don't know why I keep dying! It looks and feels like there's something cool there but the game is not accessible enough to say for sure
Huh, great concept, there's something awesome in there.
Aw man, great art and tight controls, love the franticness of it all.
Love the concept! Like, a lot. I played the web version and it's a little rough (it's a jam, can't hold it against you) but it has so much potential.
Good work!
Barebones as it is, I was getting into it. Definitely worth sticking with
Quite polished, neat mechanic. The controls seemed a bit unresponsive but that might just be me sucking at video games.
Hotdang! Graphics and level of polish are really something! Freaking hard but I'm ok with that.
Thanks for taking on the challenge, you really pulled it off :)
Aw man I like this! So simple but well implemented and easy to get into.
Aw man, this looks amazing. The gameplay is basic but personally I enjoy that, plus for the vibe of the game it really fits.
@ Serilyn and Spiridios: Yeah, when I open my workfile those dolphins spawn guns but in the swf they just spawn nothing. No idea what's up w that. Goes to show just how badly balanced the game is when one option makes it way too hard and the other makes it way too easy, ha.
@ everyone: Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it :)
That is a good friggin color palette.
It was a bit of a chore to play, not the best collision detection and some bugs here and there, or maybe just small niggles rather than actual bugs, but looking through that aspect of it, definitely potential here.
The first comment mentions Jazz Jackrabbit, that's exactly what it brings me back to. Friggin love it.
Quite enjoying the graphics and the mechanic. Also, props for attaching the semi-educational game aspect to it.
Heck and hell yes, this is perfect.
haha nice, digging it.
Nice, very coherent experience. Oddly enough the first speedrunning based game I've found this compo.
Not sure how I feel about the level switching after death, makes it very hard to progress. Maybe that adds to the overall experience, come to think of it?
yo I'm too dumb to be good at this but I love the presentation; pixels and music and setting all work really well together.
Solid! The dialogue lifted the whole experience up a notch for me.
As a non-technical dude I didn't really care about what it was made with, and I honestly wasn't expecting much... but somehow I really really really dig this thing, it just clicks for me.
I got into it, solid entry!
Love the look and vibe, gameplay isn't super deep but I won't front: If I wasn't committed to making a tower defense game, this exact game probably would've been what i'd come up with for this theme.
Kudos!
Aw man that's really neat with the two player thing, really good use of the theme.
Well done for a jam game, no doubt about it. Like I told you before, I don't feel that the 10 second theme is super clear, but I do *get* it.
ahahaha this is insane but I love it. It's oddly polished in that there's a lot of attention to detail, even if all those details basically clash. The playscreen itself is kinda muted which detracts from the overall experience, might as well have gone bright colors, or even flashing colors on that.
Decent game, Love those portrait graphics.
Fucking gorgeous.
I'm not completely sure what I'm doing in this video game but I feel like the answer is "everything".
Awesome concept and mood, was really getting into it. The 10 second delay is too long but hey, theme. Would love to see how this plays with like a 1 second delay.
Also, "Signal Quality: 1%" would've been an amazing title for this :)
Awesome graphics and presentation/use of screen space. Having the time countdown center screen really adds to it for me. There's not enough visual feedback to make it feel like I'm actually progressing or losing; for a while I was just moving the thing around without a clue what I was supposed to do. Went back to the description and figured it out, but more in-game feedback would make it feel a lot more alive.
Well done! Good pixel art, neat game mechanic, great music, and very good use of the theme. Solid!
Hard. Decent though! With some balancing it could be amazing
Owns much bones. The essence of game design captured in masterful strokes, never displaying a moment of doubt.
Kudos, sir. Kudos.
Rough, but p much the definition of having its heart in the right place. I'm not into the art style but it is decent
For some reason I love the title, made me check it out. For an "oh shit everything went wrong let me do another thing real quick" entry it's dang solid.
Hard as heck but I was into it, loved the graphics too.
Dig the concept and the overall mechanic, have to agree on the frustration levels of the pixel perfect timing but to me stuff like that is basically what LD is all about.
This is beautiful. Most striking game I've come across. By far. <3
I like that you can choose the amount of planets. That just stands out to me as a neat touch. Decent entry overall
Nicely done! Well rounded, polished, solid on graphics, nice way to deal w the theme.
ahaha also the art owns idgaf what anyone says
Nice one, easy to pick up and get into even though the controls aren't conventional.
I love this, atmosphere and art are super on point. Very good call making the world seem vast and using the HUD to fill in the details.
I was digging this, it's cute as a button and a clever concept. Props
Whoa, so polished! Screenshake! Change language?! Never seen that much attention to the small things in an LD game before!
Game itself: Solid approach to local mp, decent balance between mechanics, power ups, environments. Good job!
P sweet! I'm impressed with the amount of things you managed to get into it, attacks items etc. One of the more fleshed out local MP entries I've seen (and there are a bunch of them this time around for some reason)
Neat concept. Took me a second to figure out how to actually play (I started out just thinking I could switch any block around ) but once I got it I was totally into it :)
This was super fun. Took me longer than I'd care to admit to figure out what was going on. really awesome work!
It's unpolished (no death animations when killing enemies, which takes away from the impact of it, and the UI is somewhat unclear because the turret icon is exactly the same as the actual turret) but I'm digging the idea of having a circular tower defines kind of game. Would love to see that explored further!
Second phase was a neat touch, feel like I should've expected it!
This is straight up hilarious.
I'm into the idea of this, gets quite hard though. As a concept, it's something to consider expanding on
Great on graphics, I'm awful at WASD + ARROWS most of the time but I did p ok here. Good stuff :)
ahaha nice! So crazy, really satisfying to just mess around and figure things out
Digging on the graphics, combat is a lil' rough but once I played for a bit and got a feel for how it handles I quite enjoyed it. Good job!
swag swag swag
Visuals and audio are top notch, gameplay indeed lacks variety / challenge
Yay Tower Defense! I once ran a campaign (a couple of LD's ago) to try and get as many people as possible to make a TD game no matter what the theme was going to be, so I'm always excited to see them :)
I dig the title, the art is good - and a smart way to go for a time-limited jam!- and just the amount of content you managed to get in here is impressive, kudos to you!
It's definitely hard but TD games are always going to be tricky to balance, especially in such a short amount of time. All in all: Great entry!
Great interpretation of the theme, this is not my kind of game usually but I found myself wanting to keep going, so well done on keeping me hooked in :)
Very cool, digging the art and how you tackled the theme!
Dang that's the most polished entry I've come across so far! I kinda wish the destroyed jellies would just stick around forever, eventually turning the whole screen into a giant bath of jelly
Nice one! Love the mood, graphics go a long way in this game. Would like to see the HUD elements rendered the same way for more immersion but that's a small thing and the only real critique I can think of.
Clever :) Please do expand on this!
Well done, felt super polished and I dig the use of the theme
Hilarious :) With some polish on graphics and audio to match the humour of the concept this would be great. The rounds are way too long which makes it feel like a waste of time to do anything until near the end, so please do a post-compo version of this because I would play the hell out of a more frantic version of these dogs.
Peeing.
Everywhere.
Love the atmosphere and the graphics. I wanted to mention each of those though they stand out because they work well together. Kudos!
I shot things in space. I felt good about shooting things in space. Feels / handles really well!
haha I got super into this, nice work
