LD24 — Evolution

Evo Dash by Karel 2012-08-29T05:26:00

This is the kind of game that you can get good at. Where the player levels up (evolves), along with the avatar on screen. Great use of the theme! I would love to play a super polished version of this. It was also great to see the cause of death, because the life cycles can be pretty rapid. Good Game.

Evo Dash by Karel 2012-08-29T05:28:00

Also, the map generation is really pretty. It looks like huge paint splotches hitting the ground.

Ages of Irving by Deconstructeam 2012-08-29T02:17:00

I don't normally like these text heavy games, mainly because I'm still ignorant to their draw. But this was pretty sweet. Two things: the lack of sound made it hard to stay engaged with. Even if I was playing my own music. Second, why are the criminals black? That didn't really sit well with me. But I'm probably just noticing this shit because it's everywhere, if you care to notice it. That said, I'd still play this as a final product, if these issues were addressed.

Ages of Irving by Deconstructeam 2012-08-29T06:48:00

Oh wow, sorry for the mini-freak out!, and thanks for checking my game out! Again, that game needs sound! The bike riding scene is cool already, it needs animation, and music! something brooding.

Oneway by azurenimbus 2012-08-31T04:19:00

Cool to see another Stencyl user!

Gamma Ray Deflector by brookman 2012-09-02T09:22:00

This is a pretty cool concept. The controls are the biggest barrier to progression though. For me at least. with a simplified control scheme this would be a lot better. I really like the graphics, though, real nice presentation.

The Highbred Pixel by monomanio 2012-08-29T06:10:00

I really like the atmosphere of your game. The mechanic is also pretty interesting. Especially for the style of game you're making. I just thought, "GLaDOS!" When I was reading the text! Pretty cool. I can't really complain, for a game made in 15 hours. Bravo!

Guide Head by Kali Purr 2012-08-29T01:03:00

Thanks for the comments and feedback! I was definitely thinking of having diagonal movement, but I found it more challenging without it, hence the final product. I just like tough games with deliberate control design.

Again thanks for playing! It means a lot that people actually spent time on this. Especially for being my first game.

The life of Cat by Amoaeba Junior 2012-08-29T01:25:00

I din't get much out of this in terms of gameplay, but it made me feel pretty good. From the title screen and the music, to how it ends. I feel it was quite appropriate.

Stop Evolution Tower Defense by Teknik 2012-09-10T03:42:00

This works pretty well! I agree, the graphics could be improved, but mainly just by adding animation. sound would be awesome as well. Also, thanks for checking out my game! I really appreciate the feedback!

GiRL2501 by braingale 2012-08-29T01:14:00

I can't play this because I'm Mactose intolerant. But I checked out the music, and it's pretty dope. I'm definitely keeping track of your soundcloud!

Mutagen by allinlabs 2012-08-29T01:38:00

Wow, this is something I've been wanting to make for a while now. Glad to see it actually be pulled off. I can see this becoming bigger. The only things I'm not so hot on are the music, which is in complete juxtaposition to the actual mood and events of the current game. Also, unless I haven't figured it out, it would be nice to have a way to restart after dying.
The balance issues can be fixed with some work, and the visuals are just right for this. Awesome.

Plop by Yann 2012-08-29T02:37:00

The mechanics for this game definitely fit the theme perfectly. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but there was one level with invisible conveyor belts. kinda threw me off at first, but it wasn't that big of an issue in the end. Nice game.

Resolute by RosyPenguin 2012-08-29T06:37:00

Yeah, I second that. I bet it would have been pretty cool. Judging from the simple and solid mechanic (moving). Pretty sweet for your first game in Flixel. Or anything for that matter.

Resolute by RosyPenguin 2012-08-31T09:35:00

I really like the musical progression in the Post Jam version. Still wish it were longer though! I was getting excited to see what the creature would become.

A Conglomerate of Pixels by creative630 2012-08-29T02:26:00

Wow, this was more fun than I expected! I really think you can make something out of this. I kept thinking of myself as a rabble rouser, who kept gathering followers who then in turn served as instruments of my cause. Some were collateral, some were militant, some were highly mobile. Hah, anyway, that's pushing it for a bunch of cubes on a screen, but hey, I had fun with it.

Gods Will Be Watching by Deconstructeam 2013-05-04T17:14:00

Oh maaan!! This is that game I dream of making all the time! I just don't know how to plan it! So happy I can play it, though. Thanks for making it. I died on the first day, on my first play! I lasted till the 30th day on my next. The psychiatrist, doctor and engineer all went crazy! Totally felt helpless. The only thing I'm a little iffy on is the sound. Unfortunately it kept cutting out at different points with each game I played. That would take me out of it completely. Especially when the awesome music just cuts out without warning. Or did I miss something? Anyway, I've got a radio to fix! Great Job, guys!

Gods Will Be Watching by Deconstructeam 2013-05-04T17:15:00

Sweet intro, too. So appropriate!

a.void by Ty Taylor 2013-05-06T17:48:00

Oh wow, this is fantastic! I love the control sceme. It works well enough to provide the player with a chalenge. The visuals are refreshingly simple, too. I also like the absence of a tutorial! The only thing I'm not a fan of is the audio/music. I like that it's reactive, and the implementation makes for a richer experience. The actual sounds somehow clash with the visual tone. But that's just my opinion. Awesome game. I'd definitely drop some change on a full version of this.

a.void by Ty Taylor 2013-05-06T17:53:00

It's addictive, too.

IMBARINTH by brookman 2013-04-30T19:49:00

This game is sweet. Really like the visual style! How did you pull that off?

IMBARINTH by brookman 2013-05-01T05:10:00

The only confusing part is finding your dot when a new level begins. Maybe make it emit a couple radial ripples to show where it is from the start?

Compositions by Kali Purr 2013-05-02T07:06:00

Oh wow, I'l really overwhelmed by the feedback, guys!
Yes, the game takes a little while to load, but I unfortunately couldn't tell you why that is. Please be patient, even though it can be a little frustrating. All I really want is to share this experience with you guys. :)

Compositions by Kali Purr 2013-05-02T07:08:00

And yes! The levels!! I feel each an d everyone of you on that! We just didn't have time to think of that. We both wanted to make something that felt like a complete and well thought out project, given our time limit (and, you know, life outside the Jam).

Compositions by Kali Purr 2013-05-05T01:13:00

@DaveDobson yeah, you're right. I talked about it over with my partner and we decided to both put it up through our separate accounts. I'm glad you liked it, though! Thanks for checking it out.

Huoheian by folmerkelly 2013-05-06T18:28:00

This is a cool concept, it adds a layer of strategy. Only problem is there's almost no reason to move away from the center. Different enemy types, that make you move around or behave differently, would add a bit more to it. Cool to see a Stencyl game in the jam, too.

I Dream In Color by evilseanbot 2013-05-02T07:09:00

Hey, thanks for the nice words! I've never played Killer 7, so I'll take that as a compliment! XD

Katana Senpou by saint11 2013-05-05T10:16:00

This game is really cool. It starts off a little jokey ("Mitsubishi!") But then becomes a game of concentration and patience. Wonderful!
