Fucking awesome game. At first I thought "AGAIN with the gravity mechanics?!" We've seen so many of these in recent years, yet your take on it is very refreshing and nicely crafted. I haven't played it to the end, but saved it for after the voting period.
I thought this was a very interesting concept. I tried to pursue it for as long as I could, not sure if there is anything to be found except a deeper answer to our mournful existence through meditation and the philosophy of breaking walls.
And I thought I was pushing the limit with MY game! You, sir, have some balls. In inverse proportion to the size of that damn lizard :D
Well made and very well-rounded game. It's not my cup of tea, but I even played it for a while!
The controls are interesting. It would be nice if you could add stages, and a certain challenge or goal per level.
This could have been great. Definitely the one thing that could be improved is the controls. Unique idea. Thanks for making it!
Great presentation. I wish there was a little more depth to the gameplay. Good job, though.
You've got a ways to go to finish it, but it already looks promising.
Very clever and original. Good execution too.
I really liked the concept of this. I wish I'd understood right away I needed to let my trees grow. It's a really cool concept, and I really like games like this.
I like it, I think it's actually a deceptively ambitious concept. The only thing I would suggest is working on the controls. I actually like the tiny graphics, they are awesome.
I think that this game could become quite cool if you made it so that we have to kill a lot less criminals and added a little more challenge. That would help make it more engaging, I think.
Nice mood and music! The gameplay could be quite exciting at times, there's a nice feeling of terror when the huge drops came towards you.
Haha, very inventive and fun :) Reminded me of when I used to like Tony Hawk, many many years ago!
Fun game. I didn't run into any of the problems most people are talking about.
I wish there was a bit more to do. Good job, though!
This game is a success :) Great fun, nice gameplay.
It was very endearing :)
Seemed like it could be an interesting psychedelic experience, but the controls made it very hard to play. I also had some performance issues and slowdown. Played the Mac version.
Would like to see it in better shape :)
Had a lot of fun playing this. It's quite solid.
It's interesting how you have to keep rewiring your brain every time your planetoid changes color.
Couldn't run either web or Mac versions. Let me know if you fix it: azurenimbus@gmail.com
Very nice prototype, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun when you add more mechanics to it. Don't stop, keep building! Don't shy away from using libraries to help out.
Nicely done! Hope you come back for many more Ludum Dares, and hope to see more games from you!
As a suggestion for next time, add some challenge to collecting the items, it can make it more interesting.
Interesting take on the theme!
Lots of fun, very addictive! Also, the game feels very smooth, great job with that.
I loved it. There's a very strong cool factor for this one.
Also, the music was awesome.
Some good ideas here, congrats. I think it would be better if your planet was a bit more responsive.
Absolutely fantastic game. And gorgeous! I saved it and will definitely play more after Ludum Dare! Good job, sir!
Really moody music, really creepy game. I think that the report at the end was kinda redundant. I think if you want people to get a point, they should get it from the game itself. If they don't, you should rework some elements.
I think that even though it's a little disjointed, this game has a lot of potential, and the disorienting shifts actually worked well to recreate the character's disturbed mind.
Haha, had a laugh. I was actually super excited to see more levels.
That was a lot of fun!
Pretty cool! In comparing with the classic pen and paper version, it would be nice if there was a way to track where you've gone, something like a yarn or pieces of bread you leave behind. Also, when you're doing this with a pen it can be much faster, because there are no walls you bump into when pressing a certain key. So if you could figure out a way to make the character never stop when you're pressing a certain key, this could be a million dollar idea! Well, maybe not a million dollars, but it'd be awesome :)
Well, it was fun playing and being completely WTFed out. Cause I didn't read your note first : )
I like this sort of square corner worldview. It's really cute and the idea of knowing what disaster is coming when is something I've not seen before. Good submission!
So cool! The feel reminds me a lot of Ziggurat on iOS, though the gameplay is completely different.
I have to say, I think you're on to something here. The graphics are lovely. I obviously played only the LD48hour version, but I think with some refinement (I also couldn't get past the initial asteroids) it could be really awesome!
Great submission!
=O
I hope this wins. That's all.
This game looks like nothing I've ever played. I think you stumbled onto something here, and you'd do great to explore it.
I couldn't run the java version on my Mac, I don't know why. :(
Really enjoyed the graphics. I think the controls and collisions could be improved a bit, I got stuck in weird places and stuff. But it was a lot of fun.
I liked the controls. Why didn't you add more stuff? It's a good prototype, for now, make it into a game! : )
I think the name of the game should be Fill Those Jars. :)
Hahaha, I didn't read before I clicked, so I was hacking away at that heart for a good five minutes or more.
I actually really enjoyed it, the opening was really stunning and I really wanted to see more of the game. Please finish it sometime.
That was pretty cool! I had such an urge to massacre them. Kinda scary, human nature. The music was awesome.
When I collected the red coin, I thought that the mode was that the bunnies could suddenly kill me, and I had to run from them. That's the feeling I got from the change of colors and music. Only after reading here that I realized what it was supposed to be.
Also, had some performance issues on my Mac+Safari when the population reached over 100. Nice entry!
So cool! Never played anything like it. When I figured out how to move fast it was tons of fun. Also, absolutely hilarious!
It was good, but you definitely should have sped it up a bit.
Wow, this was a genius idea.
Very moody, very ominous. I liked it a lot.
Oh noooooo, so short!
I thought it was rather brilliant, and loved the mood/graphics. :)
Really liked the mood and the visuals.
Cool game! Very nicely implemented mechanics and immersive audio!
Really nice, I fell in love with my character : )
Oh I forgot to say that sometimes if I stopped moving everything would stop moving too. Wasn't sure if that was intentional, but it made things easier.
I second that. And you should keep on building the game, it has potential!
I liked it, rather unique.
Fantastic!
Interesting, it's kind of a new take, since you don't actually collect things, but the planets orbiting you do. I thought it was pretty well done, and had a fun vibe. Music was good too!
Cool game and idea. The core challenge is good, but maybe you can make it more fun by adding twists as you progress.
I second what devwil said, browser games for the win.
Now, this game was pretty well made. Like someone said, I wasn't sure though if there was a goal or an end to it. Good job with the graphics and control!
Fun and engaging.
I had something weird happen to me. I'm sure it has nothing to do with your game, but when I opened it, another Love game opened instead, Wulcan, also from LD. It wasn't even the last one I had played. I had to delete all Love games from the hard drive and then redownload yours to get it to open. Very weird!
So. Awesome.
This is a real gem! So simple, so elegant. You get to the essence of the bullet hell shooter, but without weapons. Perhaps because there are no weapons. Really loved the planet graphics. And what the hell is up with the music? It's fantastic, amazing that you made it in 48h while still having to make the whole game. It's nice, really gets you going. I really wanted to fuck Venus up, but he was a real pain in the ass. :D I saved it to play more later.
Just one suggestion, make it clear to the player that there's no weapons. I never read instructions in here or elsewhere before playing, I want to see if the game gives me all that I need to know. I felt that as a shmup looking game, there needed to be shooting, so I spent a while trying to figure it out and kept dying. Haha. So I quit the game, thinking it was broken, and saw here that it was intentional.
Fascinating concept. This was quite unique. You should polish the gameplay to make the experience more accessible and fun.
Nice gameplay, made me wanna play until the end!
It's hard to know where to begin. I think it's a little masterpiece. I sure as hell want to sink in a lot of time to master it.
The balance of the mechanics is really good, the effect that shooting has on your own death is a genius touch. The feel of the game is completely nailed, it looks fantastic, plays brilliantly, etc. etc.
I don't think I have anything to suggest, except make the game over (when the red blocks touch the ground) a bit more interesting. I think that the little island disappearing is a little disappointing in comparison with how awesome everything else is. Maybe something else could happen to be more in sync with the core ideas. It's not really a flaw, I'm just trying to think of something to contribute to this amazing game.
Congratulations.
The game has a pretty solid structure, just needs a little bit more building. When you say all the things that it lacks like that, it makes it sound much worse than what it actually is :) Come back next time!
Very cool mechanics. It's very satisfying. Many people have said it, but you should definitely polish it up, it's a lot of fun.
Ah, also, I thought I should tell you I had some performance issues on both Safari and Chrome on my Mac, it slowed down a bit.
I was actually deeply moved by your game. The mood, the music, the way Hank moves so slowly, all combined to create a very believable experience.
It was short, but really cool. Congrats.
Nice little virtual insect stealth hacking game!
This is a little masterpiece.
Loved the graphics and gameplay. Collecting things can be tedious, but your level design and sounds, as well as the particle effects made it so satisfying to collect those damned bytes!
Great job.
Plays really well! If you wanna work on this later, just add some more animation frames and add to the audio.
This was pretty neat, I never saw anything like this! If you polish up the graphics and sound, this could become amazing, I think. It was actually a lot of fun in this state too. Congrats!
Wow! Everyone, thank you so much for commenting and giving me feedback. I will definitely take everything you said in consideration when I go back and work on this game to make it better.
I am very glad I chose to take part in this awesome compo. Totally worth it!
Everyone, thank you so much for all your feedback. I am definitely taking every single one of your comments into consideration, as I improve the game for a post-compo final version.
One of the things I'm definitely doing is increasing the difficulty curve, as it got frustrating for many people too soon. That was because of the time, I couldn't get it to be as I wanted in 48h.
I will also be playing and rating all of your games, of course. I still do not have access to a Windows machine, but will do so definitely before the end of the voting!
And like gemberkoekje said, I got my Twitter account suspended :( I started following a lot of Ludum Dare-related people blindly, and Twitter's automated process thought I was a bot or something. I'm working to get that sorted out. I might lose all my following/followers, so please add me when I do get it back @azurenimbus
Thanks again!
It was actually incredibly an introspective journey. The distance and the silence both contributed to a moment of peace and quiet while playing the game and discovering the secrets. It was quite pleasant. Good job.
E é sempre bom ver brazucas. :) Se puder, olha o meu jogo também.
I liked the music, and the mood of the game. Also, the idea of having to acquire something to go into the warps. Creates an interesting combination. It would be great if there were more enemies or more ways to interact while we're searching for what we need for that warp. Great job overall.
Really impressed with this. Very immersive and polished.
Soooo cool! I approve of this!
Will it be bad if I say that this game looks way better than 95% of 3D Unity games I've played so far? This is the future of 3D!!!
Seriously, congrats, it was great. It was hard, but in a good way, I felt like there was plenty of room to grow for me as a player. You should consider expanding it.
Loved the tiny size too.
Awesome graphics, interesting and engaging mechanics! Nice one.
Would just suggest making the machine move sideways a bit faster.
You mihgt or mihgt nto haev jsut rceivdee full makrs fomr me.

Very fun and addictive, solid gameplay!
Unique concept and visuals! Took me a while to figure it out, though.
Interesting combination of choose your adventure with animations. The only thing I'd like to see is, obviously, more.
Fantastic job, I absolutely love it. Zero complaints, zero recommendations.
Very cool idea, nice presentation.
I'd definitely suggest making the controls faster and tighter. Just some tweaking could make this a lot of fun! Keep at it!
It was a lot of fun and hilarious. But it got a bit repetitive, even though the dialogue was awesome. There could be more to do.
It seems pretty cool, but I wasn't sure what to do. How do you play this game? I know you said it's unfinished, but I'm wondering how much of it can be played.
You should definitely go ahead and finish it! It's a cool idea!
Wow.
VERY nice controls, quite smooth and relaxing. Liked the music and general mood too.
Finish it! It'll be awesome!
Very intriguing game. I liked it. Surprisingly, I had performance issues on Safari, but other than that, great entry.
Made me smile. :)
Charming little platformer. The flying controls could be improved a bit, they are a bit frustrating. Good job, keep making more!
Son, did everyone ever tell you you're good at this making games business?
The graphics look really pretty, and shooting feels just right. : )
It was a very ambitious project for your first game, especially considering the 48h limit! Try something smaller next time and you will be able to make a better package of it!
To make this game better, I definitely suggest reducing the text in the beginning, get people engaging with it as soon as possible.
Hope you enjoyed being in the compo, and come back next time!
Awesome idea!
You should clarify what the conditions for winning and losing are. I got them to meet, and it said I failed. I thought that was the goal.
Wow, very nostalgic for me :) Full points for graphics!
A confusing and disorienting game, yet strangely compelling :) Liked music+mood.
Yo dawg I herd you like precision jumping.
So much fun, and the gameplay was quite stunning, to be honest. The best of the kind I've seen so far in LD23.
BUT PLEASE ADD A RETRY BUTTON FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! My guy would constantly jump into oblivion and I had to watch him die in quiet desperation...
Great stuff!
Nice fun game! But there's a problem. Where is the motivation to save the French? :D
D'oh! Sorry.
I really enjoyed it.
The author was just trying to make a fun simple game, I think some people need to chill. It was pretty good compared to many others I've seen on LD. Thanks for contributing, it was fun and surreal! :D
Great job, especially with the mechanics. It plays just right, and when you succeed, you feel you deserved it. Well done!
Cool backgrounds!
The graphics don't bother me in the least. I'd suggest making the character move a bit faster, but I guess that's more of a subjective thing.
Interesting take on the locked room style, with Alice in Wonderland mechanics!
I thought it was quite clever and well designed.
I had a few frustrating moments when a sideways moving platform wouldn't touch the wall I was in and I couldn't jump to get on it. I got it eventually, but it seems like if fixed the game could be more enjoyable!
I don't think multiple lives, but maybe start back at the room your in when you die?
Loved the game, the difficulty made me want to punch someone, but I loved it.
All of the traps have signs, and I absolutely love that they are hard to see at first, because it forces you to train your eyes, like a real explorer. So making the block too obvious would kinda go against that, I think.
I like this style, cause it isn't just about skill, but also attention, and patience. It's a little different from what most people would expect. I actually had an idea for a game playing this :)
Also, play my game and get equally frustrated as a payback :D
Just great. No suggestions, I think it's perfect.
As a parody of sorts, this turned out to be quite amazing on its own.
I don't know if the author will ever say what he had in mind, but I think it's a definite take on One and One Store, which is also great. I think the mechanics explored here are way more interesting, though.
Hey, a surprising little gem here! I really enjoyed your game, with some polish it could be a pretty cool puzzle platformer. In addition to The Lost Vikings, I am reminded of Shaun the Sheep, the flash game.
Nice one, come back for the next Ludum Dare!
Interesting game, don't remember playing anything like it.
Nicely done. I really really wish you had found a way to incorporate gaming aspects to this concept. It was quite beautiful, though.
I had quite a laugh. I can't believe how short it is, you should definitely make it longer. Full points on humor, though.
Very cute and relaxing. I would only suggest working on the physics of the gravity, as it was confusing in some points. Cool entry!
WOW. Are you serious? Mind-blowing. Great feeling, nice mechanics, I definitely saved it to play more when I have time.
The only, only little thing that I have to comment on: the music looped weirdly, it's more like it suddenly stopped and restarted every time. I thought that was a weird thing for a game so incredibly polished otherwise.
Great job. Any plans to improve/expand on it?
Really nice take on a type of game that I normally don't like too much. Made it quite interesting to play by reducing the controls to a beautiful minimalism. Very well implemented, great job! Will be playing more of this in the future.
The navigation was awkward, but it was definitely an immersive experience.
Very unique game, I was quite pleasantly surprised.
Congrats on finishing the game.
Incredibly elegant, meticulously designed, perfect little game.
One of my favorites.
It's amazing how much you put into the graphics, it looks very good. Also sounds very good. I was not able to get too engaged with the game, I felt the controls were a bit awkward. The post-compo felt much better to play, but I felt it was still a bit off. Especially the jumping and bouncing around. Fixing that, this'd be perfect!
Really lovely game!
I really liked your game, especially the core mechanics and the presentation. I felt you really did a good job developing the ramifications of the core concept, but that you should make some improvements in the gameplay. The bounciness could be a little unnerving, and there were some collision problems, when the character wouldn't go in between the blocks even though it looked like he should.
Otherwise, great entry!
It felt great to shoot the little people :D Nice animation and sounds. I actually played a while before reading I couldn't win haha. Finish it, it'll be lots of fun!
Surprisingly complex ramifications from an innovative style of play. Instead of controlling the planet, you control the center point of its orbit. I thought it was fascinating and kept surprising me as I played. This could definitely be explored further.
Really liked the blocky graphics.
So delicious to play. My kind of game. :)
Pretty cool game!
Ah, I was really looking forward to seeing what would happen when all the organisms rotated... so disappointing! But in a good way, because it means I got really engaged in your game. Liked the main core of it, and also the graphics, that reminded me a lot of Metroid.
I'd like to see where you take this! :)
Keep developing it, it could turn into a pretty cool game.
Aw, would be great if you had finished it.
A fighting farmer game! I really like the presentation, and laughed out loud (for serious!) when I saw the title screen.
Beautiful!
I think I didn't have this much fun playing any other LD game! So cool! It's got a really cinematic feel to it. Love the zooming in and out as you go into areas. The flying around was very satisfying because of that.
I could definitely play a game like this for hours if you make enough content.
One tiny suggestion, make the game boundaries actual visible things, so that it doesn't feel weird that the fly can't suddenly keep going right or left for no reason.
Fantastic job.
Wow, very impressed. One of the best so far.
It was actually quite captivating, and I found myself playing it for a good while!
I can't believe I only played this now! Great job, Crono!
Amazing job. I'm surprised you were able to get this done in 48 hours. It's quite complex!
My only suggestion is getting rid of the bot altogether. It's nice that there's a character and we're not just a cursor on screen, but I don't think it adds much. Just embrace your game's puzzlefulness to the extreme!
Very interesting play style, I enjoyed it. I was not able to progress much, though.
I'm sad that I can't hear anything but a screeching sound on my Mac OS X Lion :(
Loved the mechanics, very nice game.
If I ever make a platformer, I want it to play like this. It's so satisfying, so fast, so responsive, the jumping off the edges and coming back from the top was brilliant. Great great game!
Also, great graphics and mood.
There's definitely some collision/friction problems, as you can't jump while next to a block, but besides that, it's a nice game.
YOU FOUND A KEY! :D Best. Sound effects. Ever.
Very surreal, I kinda like it :)
It's got interesting looking graphics! You should make it faster.
Very nice, solid game. Took me a little while to figure out the obvious: the enemies also died with two bullets. It's interesting how something that simple can change the way you play a game.
I found it to be quite addictive.
Very nice presentation, interesting ideas.
Nice, simple idea. Good going.
Looks fascinating. I need to get someone to play it with soon.
This seems like it could be fun. I have to get a friend to try it out later.
I like it how you basically said fuck you to the theme :D
Thought this was nicely put together, and very elegant. You did a good job.
There wasn't much keeping me from playing it after the first minutes, though. Maybe you could build upon the main idea to create a more rewarding experience.
Very nice, very solid game. Loved the angularness.
This is fun, I love this concept. You should expand it, tighten the controls and add some variety, but there's a great potential for the idea. Could be very satisfying to stomp all kinds of things.
Also, I really liked the fact that you confirm by pressing the stomp button and it goes straight into stomping the first castle. Fun stuff.
I'd like to see it if you expand it, let me know.
It was a lot of fun. Loved the feel, sound effects and art style.I'm thinking voice effects is a must for my next game now! :)
Wow, pretty crazy.
It wouldn't load =/ Using Safari on a Mac.
I think this was a very cool idea, and good execution overall. While I like the concept of slowly unveiling the world, I think it would work better if the scenery was less repetitive and/or if there were more interesting things you could run into.
Good job!
Good job!
I enjoyed the music and the look of the game, but had some trouble controlling my character. He seemed unreasonably heavy and slow for a platformer, and there were some collision detection problems with the blocks. All of these are easy to fix, though!
I am so glad I got that bastard Neil tiGrasse Taizon! lol
This was really fun, great concept and pretty cool graphics for the planets and Neil. I haven't played the post-compo yet, so I don't know what you did, but I absolutely suggest making it harder and making the some of the plants move while shooting. It's gonna make it much harder to catch the asteroids and a lot more fun!
Great job overall!
High points for mood. It was kinda creepy. I thought it was a very cool idea, but the mechanics involved in scrubbing were not the best solution, I think. It was kinda difficult. I think you should keep on building on it!
Nice first game for LD. Come again!
Although I've seen games kinda like this before, this seemed like a unique combination and I really enjoyed it! It seems like it'll be easy, but it's actually pretty challenging, especially the more "followers" you have. Oh! One last thing: the in-game achievements were surprising and very cute. I liked it! Keep it up!
I don't think I've seen this concept executed like this: you start with one guy, and you transform other guys, but you have to be careful they don't transform you. I didn't quite understand the mechanic behind why some guys were easy to conquer while others conquered me, but I had fun. Good job!
Pretty cool, I love the way the gun shoots, kinda reminds me of the feeling of playing Cave Story.
Nice one! I'm pretty sure this is the most fun I've had on LD 23 playing a game that used 3D with Unity. It's also very smooth, unlike most of the others (thanks for adding the sensitivity control).
I like the streamlined, simple concept. Better graphics and some music would create an interesting mood, especially considering the asteroid keeps coming. You should capitalize on that to create tension!
I liked it! I even liked the "pew-pew-pew" of the population, even though it did seem a bit disconcerting at first. Keep it up!
Sir, you have wasted my valuable time, that could have been used to play other Ludum Dare games, by uploading such an addictive entry. Shame on you!
Full points for fun :)
Also, forgot to say, I loved the blocky graphics.
This game is not bad, it's rather brilliant.
I think you kinda missed an opportunity here. If you abandon the notion that this is a bad game, completely embrace it for what it is, stick to the concept of the computer talking to you in the beginning, trying to bring all kinds of stuff to the experience such as imagination, music, etc. but without turning into a funny rant, this could go places. I'm 100% serious, I really had something click in my head when the music started. This could be a very cool commentary on games as a medium, and especially spectacle-oriented mainstream gaming.
If you don't make a post-compo version, you're sincerely wasting a very cool idea, and I might just steal it at some point.
Awesome Zeldaesque game!
I was a little annoyed at the speed at first, but when I powered up it got much better. I definitely saved the post-jam version for playing later. Great job!
Awesome!
Awesome game! No complaints/suggestions! Just wanna play it more later!
I really like the idea of the cubical (cubicle?) world!
This has to be the best game over screen in the history of video games.
Very good playing feel... you know, the way the game feels on your fingers. Good job overall, one of the most solid games I've played on LD this time around.
I've played just the original. And was saddened at how short it was!
It was pretty solid with the exception of some strange friction on the crates. Good one!
Pretty cool! Loved the graphics and the animations. The open sequence was neat. Flying around felt just right and was a lot of fun. Congrats!
Wow, very ambitious! Amazing that you got this to work, from a technical perspective. Congrats!
You should consider renaming this "The WTF Game".
Seriously though, I lolled. It was fun.
Nice non-shooting shmup!
Beautiful, atmospheric, haunting. I feel it's definitely in an unfinished state, with a couple of weird things, especially transitioning between "screens", sometimes you get stuck for no reason as it fades out, little things like that that can detract from the experience. In general, though, great job, played all the way to the end.
I liked the story, and I liked the slow progression of it, as you meet character by character without taking too much time from the gameplay. I felt it was a nice touch that they were all basically looking the same, because of the suits. If you could put a little bit of work to make the text a little more serious and somber, it would help enormously with the mood (just to make it even better), especially the doctor at the end.
Another suggestion was to put in a little bit of diversity, maybe just one different challenge before you power up the ship. Something that feels like a boss, but not necessarily so. That would be cool, and add a nice climax.
All of these are simple suggestions because I'd love to see this game a little more polished, I really enjoyed it. Great job!
Finally got around to rating this game!
It's surprising how amazingly different it plays and feels from Mario. Anyone who says this is a rehash clearly hasn't played the game. It very much does its own thing, and that thing is awesome.
Great job especially with the graphics. They give you a feeling of SMB, but they shine with a certain personality and uniqueness that is all their own.
The concept itself is the great star of the show, of course, it was a brilliant idea, and a great take on the theme. Very playful too.
I haven't been able to complete yet, but I definitely will give the post-compo all the time it needs soon after LD is over. Congrats!
Wow, this was incredible. Very dark in a more than literal way. Good job.
Haha crazy awesome!
Wow, you did a great job with the graphics and mood... full points for those. At first I was a bit annoyed there were no sounds for the bullets and enemies, but as I played I realized having just the heartbeat was a great touch. The graphics are gorgeous.
You did a great job overall.
Nice presentation!
Wow, very unique idea.
Nice, very unique.
parapajunpapaparapaparo parapajunparapaderaparapeparapun parapajunparapapeparo parapadoparapadapadaparapo!
Hey, you should put some more work into it and make it the way you envisioned! :)
I think that adding a weapon is not a great idea for this game! You said you ran out of time and it came out like this. But if you ask me, this is how a lot of great original concepts come from. I think it's really neat.
Very solid presentation too, by the way!
Gah, also didn't work on my Mac (safari). I have java installed, of course.
Some nice ideas, but the controls make it difficult to fully appreciate. You should definitely do a post-compo version.
Sir, I represent the estate of Stanely Kubrik and you're screwed!
It was pretty interesting. Would have been incredible if each monolith actually made your weapon superior or gave you speed and other abilities.
(Can't say enough how I liked the name of the game. Haha.)
AGH I can't believe it's not finished! Looks so promising and plays so well! Please continue, and if you do, drop me a line.
Also not working on my Mac :( Will come back to check later. Or you can let me know if you fixed it: azurenimbus@gmail.com or @azurenimbus on twitter.
Very interesting. It played somewhat different from text adventures that I played in the past.
It was fun, keep making more. Next time try to spend as much as possible on the controls/gravity. Someone mentioned existing libraries that you could use/tweak, etc.
Absolutely loved the opening cinematic :D
Wow! Very solid metroidvania shmup made in only 48h. It felt incredibly consistent in the controls, sound effects, everything, very impressive. The music was really really good too. A lot of production value for such little time.
This is a nice combination, you should expand it, make the upgrades more interesting and diverse (not just different shooting colors), and improve graphics and we could have an amazing game here!
Good job.
Nice one!
Good game. It would be nice if the stages would change after a while, I think.
Really cool play style and very polished graphics and music. I feel I need to put some more time in before I can master it.
Nice. Would only suggest making the controls a bit less responsive.
I wish there was a way to play again after you die without having to quit and reload. At least that's what happens on my mac. It would be good also if you could block the enemy's bullets as you shoot!
The song was awesome. Seriously please release it as a separate thing. So intense.
The game was fun, but I couldn't get the inventory to work. I'm on a mac, playing the web version, don't know if that helps.
That was a lot of fun.
Really fun! This is begging for multiplayer.
Hey, very nice and functional shmup. Loved the use of typography and the sounds. Also, great music.
Lot's of fun, quite tense!
This was a cool looking particle-fest! The concept is simple and full of potential, you should explore it and create some interesting challenges.
I couldn't get the web version to work properly, the screen was flickering non-stop and I kept being pushed by a giant glitch. It was kinda surreal, haha.
Very creepy :D I like it, but the moving around could get a little awkward. Nice graphics, also!
I quite enjoyed the transitions and the general mood.
Metal Gear Solid meets platforming? :) Absolutely loved it. The music giving instructions was a great touch.
Also, the background is ridiculously beautiful, was it actually painted?
Wow, I can tell you worked really hard on those levels. Great job!
That was cool and rather unique. It was also charming. You can't fly!
Like some people before, it reminded me a lot of a more streamlined Osmos. I wonder, was it intentional? No shame in that either, most games in LD wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Mario. But I'm just curious because, if you haven't played it, that would be quite interesting.
Anyway, good job getting this done in 48h. I wish you had added some more levels, since you already had the mechanics nailed down, it was pretty short!
Nice audio, btw.
Was a bit misleading, I thought you could breathe fire right away. The game plays smoothly once you get the hang of it. Cool idea!
The controls were not very polished, and I hated the bounciness from the top of the screen, especially when you needed to jump to another platform but couldn't. But overall it was a nice puzzle plat former :)
I have to be honest. I played the 48 hour, and then afterwards went to see the color version, and I have to say, I really really prefer the black and white. It's beautiful and minimalistic (which I like) but still clear and easy to understand.
The music is fantastic. And it is quite clear you put a lot of effort into this. Bravo!
Absolutely tons of fun! Surprisingly deep game for something made in 48 hours. Already one of my favorites!
I think this game is basically perfect as it is. If you wanna improve on it, maybe just work on the music.
Now as a side note, I was infuriated when, later in the game, in the middle of a crazy wave, I was moving the mouse like crazy and by mistake clicked a little below the game... on one of the links!!! I lost all my progress. It drove me crazy :)
You did a very good job, very solid and fun game.
Just wanted to say, even though everyone's entitled to their opinion, I felt you were pointlessly rude to the creator of the game I Refuse:
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=11546
You might be happy with your game, but it kinda goes against the point of the compo/jam to go around saying your game is better than someone else's, don't you think? A little disappointing.
(This obviously did NOT affect my rating of your game in any way, though.)
Aw, it was so sweet. I played the original and had some performance issues, as well as general unresponsiveness from the characters. It was really cool, though, made me smile. Release the song! I will turn it into my alarm tune to wake up every morning.
It looks gorgeous! Good job.
I really love the design of this game. The simplicity, the voice-over: I really enjoyed it. I'd really love to see this expanded upon!
I enjoyed the graphics and feel of the game. It's pretty cool, but I couldn't enjoy it as much because for some reason I also had performance issues. It would freeze when I breathed fire.
I was really enjoying it, then suddenly my character got stuck inexplicably! And I only saw your comment about pressing R after I quit. I should have tried it, though.
It was really nice, I enjoyed the concept and execution. Fixing some of the control bugs would make it awesome!
Nice, enjoyable game. The music is soothing. If you could work on the collision boxes, it would make the gameplay more fun.
My jaw dropped when I realized it was a mecha.
I think there's good potential, and this works well as a prototype. You should work on the mechanics, because they feel a little awkward.
It would be good if there was a way to restart after you die. Besides that, it's pretty solid. Maybe if you could move faster, shoot faster bullets, the gameplay would be more fun.
This has a lot of personality, I really liked it.
I think that your game would definitely benefit from a game over, since we're trying to stop something from happening (rather than, say, reach a goal).
Like you said yourself, though, beautiful graphics and sound. Let's all vote high for mood!
Fantastic job. It was really enjoyable, quiet and introspective. Very high marks for most of the execution.
Brilliant wouldn't begin to describe it, this was an incredibly solid game, definitely one of my favorites. Very engaging and refreshing.
About the instructions. While I agree entirely with you, I think that for itty 8bitty that doesn't work as well. The reason why is because there is a little too much ambiguity, beyond a certain threshold, in my opinion. It boils down to the fact that there is no visual feedback (as part of the mechanics) and that there is no discernible difference blue, white, green and black squares. We see the arrows, but all we had seen before were blocks. My first impression was that this was more like Tetris and that we could move the three-colored block or rotate it somehow. In other words, while I absolutely love discovering what to do, and even who I am in games, and also did not include any instructions in my game, I think that there is a certain minimum feedback you should provide in order to not distract too much from the core gameplay. When I did discover what I was supposed to do in itty 8bitty, I was not satisfied, but simply annoyed, after 2 or 3 game overs. That instantly went away because the game is so goddamn good, but it worked against it instead of for it, in my experience. I don't know what the best solution would be (and I'm certainly not suggesting putting simple instructions in there), but you could experiment. A thing that could help is not having a game over in the first level, just audio feedback when you press the wrong key, until you move right.
But like I said, this really didn't impact the fact that the game is a great achievement, I was just trying to give some positive constructive feedback.
Awesome job!
BTW, this is the highest score I've given so far. Just sayin'.
I really liked it. Choose your adventure vibe, but with rockpaperscissos-based battles. Surprisingly deep and interesting throughout. I liked how instead of just saying that the person became stronger or with more health, you integrated the reason why into the story each time you beat an enemy or find an item.
My suggestion if you want to keep building is to try and reduce the long reading passages where there are no choices. That's all I can think of for now.
I definitely saved it to play again later after the Ludum Dare craze. Congrats!
Unfortunately, I agree with what the people above said and was very confused. It seems quite intriguing, though.
I really liked the graphics, and the game is cool, but I wasn't engaged enough to continue playing to 100.
Hahaha, I had a lot of fun jumping around and getting stuck in the orbit. Cool game!
Game is very promising, you should keep working on it!
The look, controls and general feel of the game are all great. On top of adding the things that you said, especially a better challenge from the enemies, it would be good if there were things we could do around the level, since it seemed to get repetitive after a while.
Very solid up to where you got, though. Good job!
It works on the Mac, I was able to play with no problems. Nice game!
If there's one thing you could do to make it better is to work on the collision detection for objects. It can be frustrating to not be able to walk in between things even though it looks like you can!
Hope to see you coming back with more games!
Cool, you've gotta turn this into a mobile app, it's perfect for touch controls :)
How did you make this in 48h? Impressive, as always. Very polished, great sound, graphics, feel, and interesting way of implementing the theme. I enjoyed it, will be playing more of it soon!
Some interesting puzzles going on here. Good job, really nice play.
Fantastic job. I would have loved to play this on my NES (SNES?) back in the day. Rather unbelievable you got this done in 48h. Cool factor +10.
I'm pretty sure I took LSD. Or maybe I just played this game. I can't tell. I can't tell anything anymore.
I really enjoyed it.
Sorry, there was a little bug that made it impossible to play before, now it's fixed!
I'm super late, but awesome goddamn game, dude.
Pretty good job! Seems like you got a whole world going and it's very polished and consistent.
In my own experience it felt a bit monotonous after some minutes, and I wonder if some level design wouldn't create a bit of structure that would make it more fun, now that you've set the mechanics.
But nicely done!
Interesting concept. It might have worked a bit better if it didn't take so long for something to happen.
Really nice. I was very happy when the first tree grew. :) It's a very soothing and relaxing experience. Allowed me a nice break in my frantic ludum dare play session. Maybe you should keep working on it, add new possibilities, etc. I also believe this is a great concept for touch controls.
Haha I really liked it, especially the monster design :D
Fascinating stuff. Great job so far, looking forward to the post-compo. Amazing graphics and animation, btw.
Thanks for your comment on my game, but it actually had a tiny bug that made it impossible to play, and now it's fixed! If you're interested, please play again :)
I will play and comment on yours soon.
Nice job!
The title screen was so promising! Did you make that before you even had a game? lol
It was a fun 10 seconds :) Also, funny.
Very fun and creative little game!
First Ludum Dare? Very good entry! I really enjoyed it.
The cubeness reminded me a lot of Edge, have you played it? Nice job with the puzzles, especially in such a short time!
Very sweet and fun. Maybe a bit more difficulty to get him to be a good dog would make it more engaging.
Good job!:)
I liked the idea, and it's the kind of game I'd like to make :D I think it needs some work, though, sometimes the green things would get entangled with the purple ones and nothing would make them come out.
Good job overall!
If I could use words like you, I'd leave a comment that is worthy of this game.
This is pretty sweet! I had a lot of fun, actually. I didn't get very far yet, I want to play some more later.
Amazing results for your first game, congratulations!
Really hard! I enjoyed the soundtrack quite a bit. Reminded me of DKC water levels : ) Good job!
Truly awe inspiring. :D The ending was the best. I couldn't get the conspiracy theorist though.
Great game, nice mechanics. It can be a bit confusing at first. I'm gonna play some more of this later.
Good job!
I can't get it to play, for some reason. It's stuck on a white screen. =/
Nice game. It does make your brain hurt a bit. Some very promising ideas.
Brilliant twist, hope this gets top 10 in theme.
This is one of my absolute favorites so far.
I've sunk in quite some minutes trying to find my perfect partner, and it was a journey of violence and extreme abuse of power. But little by little, as I could see my population becoming more and more like me, I realized it was all worth it. My dream was becoming closer and closer to reality. What are a few hundred lives if it means to have control over life itself???
After I had successfully eliminated all of those pesky top antennae, Ludumia became this beautiful country of only side antennae, and I knew I just had to wait. Finally I saw him/her/it. My dream partner, my other half (that looks extremely like my own half). As I rushed towards him/her/it, I killed a couple of his/her/its companions, and he/she/it freaked out and ran from me. But as I rushed and grabbed him/her/it by the very antennae, we finally became one.
I probably killed him/her/it after a few minutes of extreme pleasure.
Honestly, it feels great when you finally win, and you feel like you truly deserved it. It's one of those games where the outcome really depends entirely on the player and the player's strategies.
Awesome game, congrats. Great idea, perfect use of the theme, quite original. Very simple and elegant, too.
I would only suggest making levels for it. It might go against your original idea for the game, but it starts out being too tough already, and it can put some people off.
I'll be recommending this one.
Fun game! Laughed quite a bit.
I had fun, played it till the end :) Nice little game.
Nice game. Some more variety in the gameplay could help it from getting monotonous. :) Good going, wanna see more of it and hope you'll come back next time.
Nice concept. I definitely think level design is what would bring it forward. In my first try I spent several minutes walking back and forth without anything happening and then was shot dead by something I didn't even see.
Now that you've created the engine, you could spend a couple of days making a post-compo version and focusing on these aspects. :) Good job overall!
For some reason I can't get the "Level 1: Introduction" banner to leave the screen, no matter how many times I press space...
Brilliant idea!
One of the best I've played so far. Really cool entry!
Nice entry, just needs a bit more polishing.
Thanks for trying to play my game, as you mentioned, it was buggy before, please try again if you can! I will also play yours tomorrow (too exhausted now).
Wow, this is quite an effort for such a little time. Nice job with all the aspects of the game except creating goal and death. Don't throw it out, finish it! :)
Very interesting idea, although it needs to be better developed. With some work it could become a fascinating game!
Really cool game, very solid. A few suggestions to make it even better. It starts out a bit slow, maybe make the distance in the earlier levels shorter. Also, I played for a while but I haven't gotten to a point where I felt actually challenged. It was more a feat of patience, waiting for the time it took, but I never felt rushed or in danger of losing. So you should raise the difficulty curve a bit.
Those are my opinions, at least. But really good job!
Hey, welcome to Ludum Dare! :)
Nice work, but if you're going to insert the credits into the actual game, make sure it won't happen after the first time, because it can be annoying. I died when I played it the first time and had to start all over again, credits and all.
Hope to see you again next time.
Very interesting, never played anything quite like it. I enjoy the notion of having no control over the direction of your sweep, just having to adjust and time your location. Nice entry.
This sounds awesome, but didn't get a chance to play yet.
Dude you're insane if you don't turn this into a game.
Really cool game, very elegant and simple. Works really well. If you suck, like I do, it can be quite frustrating. But I like that in a game.
Very cool stuff. Liked the music too.
I was really impressed with the graphics, and the intro was quite amazing. The sounds and the general atmosphere were also very captivating.
I found the game to be really hard, and although I love that in a game, I'd only suggest offering a way to quickly respawn, since there'll be a lot of deaths.
Nice entry!
PĂŽ, podia ter dito tudo isso em portuguĂȘs, mas ninguĂ©m ia entender :)
Whoa! Amazing style, you really nailed down the look and feel of the game.
The idea is very cool. I'd say that it would work better if you adjust the difficulty level, or create some kind of goal. Right from the first time, I was playing for way longer than 30s and was more interested in seeing new mutations, so I kept killing myself on purpose.
Make it harder! :D
But nicely done! Loved all the dialogue and the mutations are also pretty clever.
Really cool. The final level was quite polished, I was pretty shocked to see the boss :) You should keep working on this, put some audio in, etc.
Don't people know not to get married on Ludum Dare weekend?
Really fun game. Amazing you got it all done yourself so quickly. I didn't play all the way, but if there's no change in gameplay (new items, abilities, etc), you might consider adding them in a post-compo version to make it more engaging.
Great job!
I don't know if it's the incredible music, or the time limit, or just the sheer frantic atmosphere of it all, but no game I've played so far made me sweat as much as this. Quite a jolt of an experience.
Great job.
Awesome idea!
The version that I played felt a bit repetitive, I don't know if I was missing something. I played what felt like the same level about 3 times in a row.
But hey, I AM CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Really nice mood, graphics and music. Very enjoyable experience overall. This game reminds me of another entry from this Ludum Dare, though the feeling is completely different: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-24/?action=preview&uid=11391
Good job!
Nicely done, I quite enjoyed the graphics, sound and general mood of the game. I'd say it needs a bit more work in level design, as right now it involves getting lost a lot and not a lot of excitement when that happens.
Good going! Hope your princess was happy :)
I really think this could go places. Once I got how it worked something clicked and I definitely think it would be tons of fun for any shmup fan.
Also, great job for the little time that you had!
So much fun, really enjoyed it! :) Reminded me of the insufferable boredom of school.
I felt a certain desire to go to the grocery store and acquire some unhealthy products after playing this game.
It's fun, and you did well not to give up the 48h (I, on the other hand, am a "loser" and did just that... in the end the game turned out incomplete anyway :D). If you're at all interested, my suggestion is working on tighter controls for the ball, to make it less frustrating.
See you next time!
I have no idea what's going on. Definitely a tutorial or explanation for this one.
So good, it was really powerful to me, especially because I had to put away my pet recently. Good job, nice game.
Really interesting and simple idea. I quite enjoyed the humor too.
Wow. Just wow. This game has it all and it strikes a nerve. I literally got shivers when the music came on.
The game is so full of great touches it's just unbelievable that everything got done in 48h. I love the date on the title screen, for example.
This is a beautiful homage to games and their evolution, as well as Zelda, which is the greatest gaming franchise for many of us. As a game on its own it also stands tall, very well crafted and with a lot of insight.
Congrats.
Winner of compo?
Enjoyed the challenge. Nice entry!
Uh oh not looking good. If you do upload a post-jam, leave me a note?
Very interesting idea, don't remember seeing anything quite like it. At first the lack of control is surprising, and it seems like it'll be frustrating but it can be quite freeing.
It resembles the way viruses are, all they can do is sit and wait while their agents do the leg work.
Cool game!
I love how it plays and feels. It seems really promising, it's a shame it's so short. I haven't tried the post-compo but will soon!
Good job!
The aiming is really difficult, and the game would really profit from a losing condition. But I like the style and if you get the aim right, I think it works pretty well this way.
Cool stuff, especially the graphics and feel of the game. I love the idea of not being able to actually fly the ship. The feeling of being cornered is great. It kind of reminds me of Ziggurat for iOS.
Good job.
It's fun, but the controls can be a bit frustrating. They need tweaking, especially collision detection and jumping.
The style is pretty unique, I liked it. And the music was great too.
It really is a shame there isn't more gameplay, but still, it was an interesting experience.
This is really charming. Loved the graphics and sounds. Fun experience!
Interesting elements in this strategy game. Nice use of the goats, too, one of the best I've seen :D
Hahaha, I feel this is a very zacaj game. I literally laughed out loud when I got to the end.
It might surprise you, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. And I have my own philosophical interpretation, so...
A simple suggestion that I think would add an interesting element of challenge to it would be if there was a time limit, so that you drown if you don't swim fast enough, making it seem even more that there's an exit. I think the effect at the end will be amplified this way.
Loved the presentation, and the game feels nice to play.
Awesome game. Some really interesting and funny ideas! I absolutely loved the ending. Make a post-compo and add sound! :)
Great job, man. I was very surprised coming in. I think you've handled it relatively well.
Haha nice take on the theme.
Probably due to the incredibly low gravity jumps, this game has a very unique and serene feel to it. I'm not entirely sure that was intentional, and I'm not sure that the slow jumping worked very well. It got a little annoying for me. Not because I wanted it to be a fast-paced action platformer. There are many slow, contemplative games out there and they're great. I just feel that it didn't go well with the way the levels were designed. It seemed like the game was begging to move faster. And in a way that kind of heightens the feeling of agony, but like I said, I don't think it was intentional.
Still, it was a very interesting take on the theme, and I felt a little inspired by it. Good going!
Hehe, this is certainly a first for me. Visualizing politics through gameplay :D
Some really interesting things going on here, and if you smooth the rough edges off, it could be great fun!
Damn you, ninja goat....
This is seriously accomplished for 3 days. The mechanics are very solid, and it's just so satisfying and fun to play.
The game feels like a real world on its own, one of the most difficult things to achieve for a developer. Every action has an immediate effect, visceral and quite sensory. It all happens so naturally it's a bit like the laws of physics.
The whole game is a delight for fingers, eyes and ears. I looked forward to answering the phone because I liked the visual and auditory effects so much. Besides, the writing is really funny and charming.
Are we to see a post-compo again? :D Looking forward to that tremendously.
The game is actually not bad, and I'd love to play it in a more developed stage.
The main thing here is that the game is unfair, it needs to be more balanced and/or have more of a difficulty curve. Still, looks promising.
Wow, really impressive effort, loved the game. Got really sucked in, even though this is not a type of game I generally play.
I was surprised that I got stuck in level 2, and had to do a little work to get the timing of the bombs right. But you have a very good eye for level design, and from your tweets I can tell the post-compo is even better. Can't wait to try it!
Great job!
I was skeptical at first but soon got really engrossed in the game experience :D
Fun stuff.
This is just great. You'd be at the very least silly not to expand on this idea, polish the game, etc. I think it's absolutely brilliant.
Nicely done, I had a blast with this little game. I feel it can be improved somehow, but I can't figure out a suggestion to give you. I definitely like the mechanics, the way you can see where the hero is going even though you can't see him, and the way you have to win by coming from behind. But there's something missing for this game to reach its full potential, I think. I can't figure out what it is.
Perhaps actually developing levels that become harder and require a different type of skill / insight each time, instead of randomly generated.
But still, really fun game, good job!
Jesus, the controls need to calm down a bit! :) But at the same time it created this nice, frantic pace.
Wow, this has blown me away, seriously.
Wow, really liked your twist. I don't remember ever playing a game like this.
Wow, that was great fun :)
I had so much fun with this game. I really laughed out loud a couple of times.
I really really liked it. Truly, I think you've found something great here, and there's a lot of potential, if you want to further polish it.
C'mon, we're all waiting for the post-compo! :)
Haha what a wonderful idea :) Great fun.
Love the music, too!
Cool little Myst game. I got stuck a lot but I think that's just the way these games go!
Haha, this is interesting, considering the recent debate on the source code policy.
I think if you had added a lose condition it could have been really fun :)
Fun stuff! I really like the style and I kinda loved not knowing what the hell was being said, I think it added a nice touch to the game. Haha.
The jumping mechanic is an interesting addition to the runner genre (at least I've never played one that had that). I wonder what could be done with it. Definitely worth exploring and polishing.
Nice little game. One It's hard to see the weapon name and ammo at the top right corner because it often overlays with snow.
I really liked this game. It's really promising. If you take the time to refine its mechanics, polish and expand it, this could be one of the coolest play-as-the-mastermind-behind-the-dungeon games around.
Loved it! I'm not a huge fan of the art style + animations, but the game had some really cool depth to the mechanics. I feel like I could learn a lot from you!
Loved the music too.
Great job, it was lots of fun.
Hey, this is pretty cool. The stealth ability is really fun, and I like the graphic effect you created to represent their seeing range. I haven't finished it yet, but will certainly get back to it later. Nicely done!
I jumped into this game without thinking too much, and was not prepared for what it was about to do to me. Not since your last game have I been swallowed whole and probed constantly to make painful and disturbing decisions while drifting mesmerized through a haze of ultrasensory, sensual, senseless SF stimuli.
I feel somehow molested by this experience. And I wouldn't be able to show on a doll where you've touched me, because you did it from inside.
It's just fucking good.
Whoa, now that's a game with high cool effect :D
Really great job, you guys. I'm definitely going to try messing around with some songs and recommending this!
Really good atmospheric graphics, love the way the game plays. Was pretty surprised.
Wow, really polished stuff. It's gorgeous and it sounds amazing! Very cool ideas in the game as well. I bookmarked it for further playing post-LD.
Good job.
Hahaha I actually got to the end. I couldn't wait to see what would come next :D
It's a fun game, but the controls can be frustrating. It should be much easier to drop the traps than it is. That falls into the category of frustration, rather than challenge, if you know what I mean.
I love the concept and the art style. I think this game has a lot of potential :)
Really good graphics, animation and style. Very impressive.
The gameplay can get a little repetitive quickly, so adding some variation would help! I haven't played the post-compo, though.
The solution to life: becoming a sociopath.
The game is pretty cool. Reminded me of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOUdakrP52E
I like it. I'd just suggest working on level design and improving collision detection. : )
Wow, so good. Unbelievably fun, and the whole mood of the game just literally sent shivers up my spine. Great job, guys.
A suggestion to make it even better would be to have a way to figure out who the killer is before any crime is committed. Some kind of suspicious activity. Unless that's there already and I missed it.
Also, very cool take on the theme, I thought it was pretty original, interpreting the theme as the accusation.
Congrats on your first game!
Suggestions to improve it: the level design needs work. There aren't many aspects to it that would make a player want to play it. Collecting for collecting's sake is not enough of a reason to play a game.
If you were interested in creating a game that is challenging from a platforming aspect (well timed jumps, etc.), then you need to add a significant downside to missing. In this game it's mostly getting stuck, and then you have to reboot the game (like someone suggested, a restart button would help). If maybe there was no bottom platform and you died when you missed and immediately restarted the level, it would be more rewarding to play!
Hope I was able to help somewhat, but you should be happy! Making a game is great and I'm looking forward to seeing you around next time! :)
There's something very unique and compelling about this game. I definitely think you need to work on the gameplay first and foremost. That aside, this is really promising.
There are some REALLY interesting ideas going on here. I really liked the possibilities and implications of this game. I think because it is in a really rough state it's a bit difficult to know how far you could take this, but I would invest in it and further develop it. Not just presentation, but gameplay itself, as well as level design.
A diamond in the rough in my eyes. Good job!
Cool idea for the theme and good job with the whole style of the game.
I liked your game, and it's cool that you got it made in only 2 days. I think it definitely needs some extra work done, because for a thriller polish is really highly important. I think there are many great ideas here, but perhaps you were too ambitious, and it's hard to make them all shine in only 48 hours.
Still, great job, and I'd love to play a post-compo version of this.
Haha, it's a cool little game! :)
There were a few times when the challenge was nonexistent (meaning, I could just stop moving and no cars would hit me for a while), so maybe working on that will make sure the player is always on the move!
Really cool idea, I don't remember ever playing anything like it.
HOLY SHIT, I wasn't expecting that explosion!
Loved the mechanics, this was a really fun game to play around with.
It's a fun game, but it felt repetitive very quickly. If you add more variation, I'm sure it'll be great! :)
Loved the graphics and the concept, too, btw!
Haha, nice spin! :D Looking forward to seeing you try again next time!
Whoa, this game is really hard! Balance the challenge a bit and it'd be a blast!
Remarkable game. It really opened spaces in my brain, so to speak. I like it when, after playing a game, I feel like my understanding of the universe expanded a bit, and this is one of those rare cases. The mechanics are very engaging, and the audio cues are a great touch. One of my favorites of this LD.
I feel that the game is wildly beneath its potential, however. Naturally, having made it in 2 days, you couldn't yet explore this direction as fully as you should. It should be a crime for you not to further develop it.
If you do, write me at [email protected]
Great job!
One of the best implementations of villain-sets-the-stage mechanics I've seen!
Haha, nice take. I especially liked style and the background music.
Was your intention to make gameplay more difficult in order to simulate the difficulty of operating a death star? That is an interesting idea, but the controls need to be improved.
I feel like this is such a shame, because this game has everything to be so awesome! Please work on the crosshair, make it easier!
That aside, nice idea : )
Great effort! It's great to finally see things from (K)Donkey's perspective.
Thought the game was pretty solid. I'd only suggest adding a tiny bit more speed to Konkey, or maybe allowing the barrels to remain in their place longer before they disappear. Because of the speed, often it was literally impossible to get a barrel for minutes.
Great job!
Interesting stuff. The animation needs some fixing (my character would often just slide) and I suggest further tweaking, especially animation and the frequency with which people appear. There were a couple of times when there wasn't much to do.
Really like the art style and the sound. Fun game overall!
Loved the models and the crazy style of the game.
I literally laughed out loud when I saw who I was playing as.
Nice gameplay, and I just can't believe this is your first time making pixel graphics. They're amazing.
Sound is NOT annoying! "Money!" :D Haha.
Fun little game!
Holy shit, what have I just done/witnessed?
Thank you for shattering my innocence.
This game is really difficult to play because the controls are way too sensitive! I got frustrated early on.
It looks like it can be so much fun, though! If you do release a post-compo, I'd love to play it.
Fun stuff, good job with the level design. Will come back later to play some more.
Fuck, only 72 hours and you made this?
Really polished experience. I felt after a while it does get a bit repetitive, but so did most of these games back in the day (and today) :D so it could just be my personal taste.
The concept is great, and the execution is pretty damn near flawless. I can only imagine what you'd be able to accomplish in a post-compo version.
Nice take on the theme, good job on the level design and, of course, the goats.
...This is really, really good.
You would NOT be annoyed by my ratings.
Hahahaha.
Yeah, definitely an ending screen would help there :D
The game looks really good, and it's quite a bit of fun.
Ahh it looked so exciting from the screenshot! Hope to see you around next time!
The screeching and the sound of when you hit combined created a little symphony that basically sounded like Stravinsky on crack. :D
Fun little game.
Hahaha interesting new concept! Great execution!
Absolutely amazing job.
Whoa, this is gorgeous. Turn this into a game, for god's sake!
I could literally spend hours playing this game.
Wow, really cool stuff. You did a great job with the different weapons and level design. It's pretty impressive.
Graphics and sound are also great. Congrats.
The game is really impressive in nearly every way, but I couldn't finish it. I feel stupid. I spent at least half an hour playing, and sometimes it'd be over 5 minutes waiting before there was a crime. I'd even turn away from the crowd, thinking that it was because the killer was aware I was looking at them, but it didn't help much.
I lost a few times and gave up feeling like I've either missed something crucial about the way this game is supposed to be played or that it's mostly guessing amongst your suspects and being lucky?
It's a bit shameful to admit that I didn't get it, but I thought it'd be helpful to you to consider my experience and wonder what can be done to improve the game.
I saved it and might try it again later.
Also, this game reminds me a lot of this one: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-25/?action=preview&uid=15810
Whoa, really impressive stuff. And it's NOT a jam game? Good job.
Good job with pretty much everything. I'd just work a bit on tweaking the heroes' speed and frequency.
Great stuff. Always wanted to blast that damned Earth to pieces. Let's all embrace global warming!
Seriously, though, I thought it was pretty solid and challenging, good job.
WarioWare in the bloodstream!
Really difficult, but entirely possible to master. Also, good job on the persentation. Loved it.
Beautiful music!
Haha interesting experience.
Hey, really good job with this one. Really enjoyed the feel of the game, the graphics, the music, etc. It's a pretty cool idea and I look forward to playing again if you do work on it more.
The game is really difficult, and I'm not sure if in a good way. Definitely requires some investment on the player's part, which might be difficult to expect from most people playing Ludum Dare games!
I did enjoy it though : )
Pretty fun to play!
Dude, as always I am so impressed by your level design. How can you make these games so quickly? Level design is so difficult for most people, but I think you have developed an instinct for it.
Great game, it really feels like this is a game that has been in production for way longer than a weekend. I can't think of any suggestions to improve it, it's really great. If you want, just keep expanding it and polish the presentation more, but honestly, great job.
I'm saving this to play to completion later.
Haha, interesting inspiration. The game itself is interesting, but I think it gets too boring too soon. I think there's not enough reward, and certainly not enough challenge.
I do love the way it looks and feels, though :) Made me want to play it with an Atari joystick.
Fascinanting and mesmerizing.
Flinging tiny creatures up in the air was a great experience and my life must now adjust accordingly.
Loved the atmosphere, the text and the general feel of the game.
About the controls, I actually quite like them. I mean, you said yourself you didn't have enough time and this is a creative solution to dealing with the collision detection. I actually think these controls, given enough polish, could work really well. Free movement can be boring and uninteresting, but this kind of restriction can lead to a lot of very interesting design ideas.
All in all, great effort, cool game!
Nicely done, I could probably spend a long time playing this.
There he goes again! Just fucking amazing, why do I even bother writing a comment?! :D
The visual style of this is really cool and certainly unique. I think it needs some work, I believe you have not yet reached the full potential of the game, visually speaking.
The game itself is really interesting, especially because of the suicide bonus. It is a pretty cool idea and it does change the whole dynamics of the game.
But the actual gameplay could do with some polish. There needs to be more of a challenge if you want the game to actually be fun to play aside from the "experience" of it. And I think it works really well just as an experience, I like the ending and the whole idea of forcing the player into this position of becoming a coward.
Really interesting, the timing and all. But we've seen so many tragedies like this, and with a theme like that, it makes sense that someone would make a mass shooting game. I think you handled it very well, though. Congrats.
Wow, jaw dropping presentatio, gamefeel, etc. The concept is pretty unique too, nicely done!
I was confused at first, because it really seemed like the game was going to be about spotting the fake, and I feel that would have been a really great idea and a unique game. So I was a bit disappointed at the actual gameplay.
One thing's for sure, though: you did an amazing job with the presentation. Really polished stuff, congrats.
Oh my god. Hahaha.
Interesting idea, drunkenness affecting gameplay.
Oh wow, this has to be the most gorgeous game I've played this time around!
Although it gets a bit repetitive, I quite enjoyed it. One suggestion: make being found be game over. That creates more challenge and a thrilling experience.
Really interesting game. I want to fully explore it later, but good job from what I've seen so far! :)
Love the fast-pacedness. It's a breath of fresh air from all the strategy ones! :D
I do feel the game needs more work (it crashed a few times, for example), but it's fun as it is as well. Are you doing a post-compo?
I like the style, it looks cool with the colors and everything.
The gameplay is not very challenging or engaging. It's not very difficult to run away from the artifacts, and so playing seems a little pointless after a little while.
You should also make sure that the mouse button doesn't restart, cause it took me forever to figure out what was going on.
This game looks so good, and I'm sure it'd be a blast to play, but the cops are way stronger than you are. It needs either more balance or... a JUMP BUTTON!
Dunno if you've added either of those in the post compo, might take a look soon!
Otherwise you did do a pretty good job!
I thoroughly enjoyed the bugs, actually. I was amazed at my teleporting skills:D
Seriously, this is a cool looking game, that needs some work done on the controls, playability, etc. I feel we can't fully see the potential of the game until you guys really spend time polishing that aspect of it. Still, it was an ambitious project and you've gotten pretty far considering the time!
Ahhh what a shame, this game is really cool looking, and I like the concept.
Absolutely Zedalicious :D
Loved the changing mechanics of the different levels. You did a great job unifying everything through concept and presentation. Also, you're the master of vocalized audio effects/melodies.
Really enjoyed it, was the perfect ending to a terribly stressful evening.
Welcome to the dare! Hopefully you had a good experience :)
Hahaha, you've successfully realized one of my greatest fantasies.
The game is nice, and it's always fun to smash things. But having some kind of lose condition (besides the timer) would improve it, I think.
Fun game! I definitely agree that this has potential, Jacic, you should keep at it and explore the dynamics some more. Nicely done. :)
I like the style and feel of the game. I suggest making the controls a bit tighter, as well as adding a challenge (time constraint, lives, etc.). I think the game could become quite addictive!
The platforming elements can be quite frustrating, and it needs some work on collision detection, but it's a nice little game! :)
Haha, the graphics are really fun. :D
I liked the simplistic style (though it can get better) and loved the audio.
Great job with the atmosphere.
Hilarious, great interpretation of the theme :) The graphics might be misleading, cause this is actually a pretty solid-feeling platfomer.
A suggestion to make it better is to invest some time in level design to create interesting challenges as you play through. The humor itself is worth it, but some variation on the levels would be great. Good job!
Nice that you can cut them even vertically. I think this is an obvious candidate for iOS porting :D
I am vegetarian and I approve of this game.
Hey, nice idea! It just needs some work on the bugs and some gameplay tweaks.
Also, I absolutely love the music!
Really cool concept. I think the game needs to be more balanced.
Seems potentially really fun. The difficulty with many LD multiplayer games is that when you're on a playing/rating spree it's less likely you'll take the time to find someone to play with. And in general my experience with these games is that usually there's nobody online =/ Maybe I'm just unlucky!
Still, I think it's a great idea and from what I can tell it should work really well.
Absolutely love the VHS feeling. No idea how you can pull it off so well.
Looks and sounds so nice! Great job there!
I like the idea and the potential of the game, but you need to spend some time on the controls. It's way too slow to move, especially to escape when someone is chasing you.
Too much! Build a little difficulty curve!
Otherwise great game!
Cool and promising concept! I suggest add a more pressing challenge and working on the mechanics a bit more!
Interesting ideas here. Especially the different abilities. Would like to see a more polished and developed version of this.
Hey congrats for having taken it to the end! Original idea for a game, I liked it.
A suggestion: you could make goals for different levels. To try and reach a certain amount of soak time per level. It might be more engaging this way then a "see how far you can get". I think it's usually like this with games that don't have instant death (Example: Super Hexagon has instant death and because of that it's more rewarding to try and last longer.)
Hey, really cool stuff here.
Hey, Drabiter, couldn't get this to work on my Mac. I'm saving it to play on my Windows machine before the end of voting!
Nice! I think you could definitely expand on this.
Your control scheme is really cool. And it works surprisingly well.
We had similar ideas, and I actually almost went with making a shmup like yours, but decided to focus on the boss instead. I didn't have enough time to develop it as I wanted, but take a look at it if you want: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-25/?action=preview&uid=12119
Highly ambitious, with a lot of stuff going on.
I think there are kinks you need to work out, like others have pointed out, but the game is really promising.
Extra points for style.
I didn't have trouble with the controls, like some people here did, but I think that the level design needs improving, because there isn't much (that I could find) to actually stop them. Is it really just opening and closing doors and moving around dodging bullets? I think this game is really cool, you just have to work on the design so that there's more of an engagement with the player!
Cool effort, though!
Oh, I really liked this little game. It's so simple and straightforward, but the message kind of gets to you still.
I also love the graphics. The actual gameplay is not bad at all, it can be quite engaging. So good job, person who made this.
Very nice twist. This makes me think of all kinds of implications when it comes to game design ideas... good job!
Interesting experience of fighting as the boss. Makes you appreciate that it's a tough job!
Dude, this game is so much fun! Very nicely done. I don't think I have any suggestions to improve it right now.
The fact that the game is just squares and that trial version at the bottom right corner just add to the experience of why the developer is pissed off :D
You might be surprised, but I had a "Drive" feeling from the cops. Was that a part of it, or did you mean more the aesthetics? I watched it recently and the introduction of the movie really stuck to me, with the police cars. I saw somewhere it was intended to be like "swimming in a sea of sharks", and my first feeling was: maybe I'll make a game with this concept!
Anyway, good going.
