Ant Run by fatSquirrel 2012-04-26T03:28:00
I enjoyed running through this, would have liked to have full FPS controls with mouse look.. easy to get stuck where being able to turn would solve easily. Good entry!

Nice simple arcade game. Ditto what Danik said though, sometimes they appear on top of each other.
Yes, for your first game this is a great entry! Very interesting to see something so minimal/2d done in Unity. I liked the idea, but it was a little too simple and slow paced.
I kept snapping to the left edge of each planet, and it wasvfrustrating trying to position yourself for a jump, seems to get stuck on the edges of smaller moons. Interesting idea, ditto to the previous commenter about the collision boxes. Odd to have regular platformer gravity in space, was expecting something more like running around the outside of each planet, jumping and being caught in anothers gravity, etc.
The sound effects were really loud over the music when I played. Cool Graphics, neat play mechanic.
No instructions, couldn't really figure out what to do. I'm supposed to mine, and build turrets on cell walls? Meh, dunno. Wasn't fun.
Interesting graphics, love the fragmented world idea. It really doesn't have much more than that, I'd love to see this developed further. Mouse look was way over-sensitive IMO, and it was far too easy to get stuck in a crevasse or hole that didn't restart the game (like falling off the world).
Awesome work, as an atheist, I was truly hoping for some twisted no-win situation on the religious tech chain, but fun game either way. :D
Some potential for a good game here with more interesting opponent behavior. would be better if they persued you into other rooms when you fled, or actively tried to get behind you.
Nice lighting effects, elegant minimal color palette. Good platforming action overall. Didn't care for up arrow being jump.. IMO there should always be a jump button separate from the arrow keys, especially in a game dependent on wall-jumps.
This was great fun, hilarious idea and great overall. I kept getting smashes against me from moving things running into an already planted foot. That didn't seem fair, but otherwise awesome game.
I found it quite difficult to time the release right; I love the idea for the play mechanic, but it didn't feel quite right to me.
Potential for awesome fun here, most of my gripes have already been addressed by others. Auto-fire + increased fire rate, Falling buildings if you come down low and shoot the bottoms first.. anything to make it a bit more fun to cleanse the planet of every last block. Good entry overall.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I do plan to take this a little further, but I might take it to Unity so I can have more fun with the special effects.
This is beautifully done, love the old-school click adventure play, the art is fantastic. I got stumped, even with help, after getting the broom.
The controls drove me crazy. reaching for any button causes the globe to spin... the more obvious tried-and-true solution would be to click and drag in any empty space to spin the globe. Great graphics, good feel overall, I enjoyed it except for my gripe about the controls.
Fantastic little arcade-style eat-em game! Ramps up in difficulty pretty quick. One gripe: a game with only keyboard controls shouldn't require click to continue, maybe once for the title screen to give the window focus, but after that I should be able to hit a key to continue, especially in this kind of hardcore "one-more-try" type game, you're interrupting the flow by having someone leave the keyboard to grab the mouse.
Fun little platformer. Loved the homemade sound effects.
Sometimes the player/planet overlap didn't work right? Also seemed vary sparse, not enough to do or shoot at, or maybe the playing space is too large? I didn't understand the significance of the sun/moon/raindrop icons either.
Theme stretched a bit lol... nice tight controls. Feels like a lo-fi Super Meatboy. Very well done.
This one is a lot of fun! Great graphics, feels like a mini Black&White. Could use some stronger/larger need indicators, I was often turning the globe too late to prevent deaths.
The pacing is way too slow.. not enough to do while traveling. I didn't even make it to the first planet.
I too had trouble grasping how the movement/gameplay was tied to the music, but I enjoyed playing it nonetheless. Good stuff .
I love endless runner/flyers, this is lacking in few areas: Like the others have said, too difficult to distinguish foreground from background, specifically that the fridge is an obstacle. In a game with frequent death, there should be some rewarding feedback, i.e. seeing some electrical arcs/sparks when hitting the bug zapper, seeing some kind of splat animation when hitting the fridge, having the venus fly trap actually close its mouth on you etc. I realize time was short, but some variation even in sound effects when you die would have been nice. I believe someone mentioned the collision boxes being too big already; I died several times when not actually visually touching the plant.
Impressive work for 48 hours. Great graphics, nice tight platformer controls.
If I'm supposed to kill all of the viruses, they come way too quickly. It has the making of a cool little shooter, needs some balancing. Wish the player moved faster and auto-fired.
Wasn't able to play.. web link takes me to his web page?
I like the room darkening mechanic, will like to see where you take this
Difficulty ramps up quickly, end goal too difficult to find in 60 seconds, he simply doesn't move quick enough. The camera follow is especially disorienting when turning corners, IMO the left/right controls should turn him 90 degrees, camera shouldn't reorient until you hit forward again.
I would be interested in seeing the source -and if this is a compo entry and not for the Jam, its required.
Graphics and music are very very good! I love run-n-guns, so this is fantastic. The giant laser was very satisfying to use, but kind of dissapointed it didn't require accuracy of any kind; it simply killed everything on the screen. Could use a little more variety, and more difficulty. My health never dipped below 80%, it'd be nice to have to knock them off when you have more than a few latched on, maybe your gun is disabled till you can shake them off? Pretty incredible all around for 48 hours. High scores from me!
Interesting idea, some broken ideas that have already been mentioned. To have building a bridge not require hitting the action key when every other event does is misleading. The game begins with a challenge that should allow more exploration time, if you go any direction but straight down you'll die before getting to the fruit. This kind of 'trial by death' challenge wore out its welcome for me in games like Dragons Lair, but even then you were given a visual indicator of what to do, given you had superhuman reflexes.
I really like the idea in general, its just not executed the best.
Fun little sandbox idea, but the population never grew, despite having plenty of plants. The lack of any sort of behavior beyond traversing back and forth across the terrain mindlessly and occasionally eating got boring quickly.
This was a refreshing change of pace in my ludum dare binge tonight. Fun idea, charming art, Horribly awful tulip song that made me laugh. A+
This is a fantastic entry for 48 hours. crawling controls are a little clunky, moving at odd angles when the controls are 8 direction, but that's really all I can complain about. The difficulty could ramp up quicker; bird is very easy to avoid.
Great fun! Awesome effort starting from nothing. Would love to see some kind of opposing force besides the clock. The graphics are great, gameplay very satisfying. 4 stars overall
Great game! I loved the temple, with the enemies being invisible, and the laser shots being lit up, very cool. Was hoping to find some loot in some of those pots though. Very polished, even for a jam entry. I'm impressed!
Seemed like a good idea, but like several other unity titles this ld, the controls are lacking. I should be able to delete atoms placed, and spin the molecule around by click-dragging in empty space. hard to visualize what goes where in later stages when the atoms are all floaty and you have no control. Music not a good fit for this style of game, should be something more ambient maybe? Good concept for a puzzle game, but no difficulty really except for the controls making it harder than it should be.
