LD22 — Alone

ZERO2 by kato9 2011-12-20T19:08:00

A bit of sound and ambient music would really bring this world to life. Would love to see you take this beyond LD and finish it!

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-20T00:36:00

The form has Windows marked as a required field. There is no iOS radio button.

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-20T00:38:00

My apologies! Released the OS was editable when re-examining the form. Updated the entry to reflect that. I blame it on the 72 hours of brain melting.

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-20T00:38:00

Realized... need to stop thinking.

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-22T14:08:00

What version of iOS is installed? Has the app been installed through testflight? I only see one 3GS that signed up for testflight and I hadn't approved it yet, but am doing so now.

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-22T14:19:00

@VonZippenstein I believe your device has just been added to the provisioning file. (Or at least a 3GS who signed up around the time you left the comment)

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-22T15:21:00

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It is definitely a bit hard. If it we had time to make more content we would definitely have slowed the ramp up in difficulty.

Testflight isn't the best distribution option, but I think it is the only option we had for iOS. Next time we will probably build a flash game.

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-24T03:48:00

Hey guys, sadly no web or PC version, but I should have time to port it to OSX over the weekend. Stay tuned!

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-24T15:05:00

It ended up taking almost no time to port, just had to figure out what OSX libraries to link to. Enjoy!

The Four Hats in "Room to Roam" by tacograveyard 2011-12-25T16:48:00

If you have OS/X there is also a port now.

LD23 — Tiny World

Solar Sailor by vilya 2012-04-24T14:33:00

Interesting racing game. The controls felt a bit too delicate. After a few tries I got the hang of it though!

AquaWars by ElzingaT 2012-04-26T00:59:00

I also want to play, but don't have Windows.

The Little Glitch by Kroltan 2012-04-26T01:25:00

I like the interpretation of the theme and the atmosphere, but I couldn't for the life of me get past the first platform. I played for 15 minutes despite that!

Tiny World by piterlouis 2012-04-24T14:23:00

SImple game. Very fun mechanic. Would love to see a polished version of this.

Underfoot by zorf 2012-04-26T19:38:00

Don't have Windows :(

Flight of the Ladybug by robcozzens 2012-04-26T13:03:00

Simple, fun, well rounded. Nothing revolutionary, but there doesn't need to be. A joy to play.

Boxed in. by PIXEL^3 2012-04-26T01:38:00

Really cool. Bookmarked so I can come back and play more later. Great entry!

Teeming by DaveDobson 2012-04-24T13:39:00

Fun game idea with a lot of variety packed in. Great job splitting things into bite size chunks and slowly introducing the player to the game. Awesome to see another entry built using Crafty. I also had a bit of slowdown while playing, but once I loaded it up in Safari everything ran great. (Matching what I experienced with my own entry built w/ Crafty)

Let's Go Moon by Transmit 2012-04-24T14:17:00

Fun game. Wish I could keep growing beyond 711.

Deconstructorium by Deconstructeam 2012-04-26T20:10:00

Solid game. A bit tedious, but nothing that can't be polished away.

In Delusion by crippledgames 2012-04-24T13:46:00

Definitely creepy. I was engaged by the story, wished the character moved just a bit faster.

Soul Searchin' by MaximSchoemaker 2012-05-13T22:36:00

Absolutely loved it!

Fill that jar! now put some crumbs in it! by rebecca 2012-04-26T20:15:00

I had no idea what I was doing or why, but it was pretty.

Biological Warfare by Bei 2012-04-26T13:19:00

Neat game. Cool to see another project done using CraftyJS.

Macro Marines by JonathanG 2012-04-26T01:13:00

I liked the concept, but had a hard time getting started. I read the controls, but still would have liked a slower intro versus the AI. Once I go used to it I really enjoyed the game.

The Tiny, Unknown and Unimportant World by waveon foxdale 2012-05-13T21:24:00

Had a hard time knowing what I should build and where I should build it. I eventually figured it out, but more visual feedback of what was going on would be nice.

gravity by Rémi 2012-04-30T18:05:00

Excellent entry! Loved it all around.

Boundaries by jeffreybiles 2012-04-26T00:38:00

Simple, but really fun mechanic. I had a lot of fun playing it. I think a bit of polish could take this mechanic pretty far.

P.S. It crashed on me after awhile (OSX, Chrome 18)

Tiny Invasion by Cappibara 2012-04-26T19:38:00

Don't have Windows :(

Tiny World by pag 2012-04-26T15:04:00

Cool game, ran well. Wished for more content when I was done! NIce to see another game using Crafty!

Cage by epicSpeedTurtle 2012-04-27T19:23:00

Well done. Made me sympathize with poor Hank! Good job capturing not just the scale implied by the theme, but also the feeling.

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-05-13T21:50:00

Nice use of simple audio and visuals to create something bigger than the parts. I enjoyed finding strategies to differentiate myself from the 'others'. Overall the game left me with a feeling of smallness (which is good).

Redeye by gotosleep 2012-04-26T15:09:00

I'll admit that going into this game I didn't expect a lot, but the graphics and gameplay had a surprising amount of charm. I ended up really enjoying it. Some sound would really fill it out.

Puny World by villhest 2012-04-26T00:44:00

Good audio, fun styling. It took me awhile to figure out what I was supposed to do, I was trying to run around and shoot my own ship for a bit.

Shooting the planet was fun, but I wasn't sure what I was supposed to aim for. Clicking a lot led to victory.

Ant Command by Aaron San Filippo 2012-04-26T00:55:00

I really liked the mood and feel of this. Would love to see this expanded into a strategy game.

So Many Tiny Worlds, So Little Time by isNaN 2012-04-26T15:36:00

It was fun to collect stuff. Blowing stuff up is always good. The only downside is that my ship went off screen a few times and I couldn't manage to get it back so I had to restart.

Pieces by john_conder9 2012-04-24T20:14:00

Right click doesn't work on the web player unfortunately. :(

Vac-Man by rhaasken 2012-05-13T23:59:00

I always wanted to my a game out of my roomba!

Predicament by orangepascal 2012-04-28T01:13:00

Wonderful!

Tiny world by cocoloco113 2012-04-27T16:38:00

All you can do is walk back and forth. No gameplay, no story, I suppose it kinda fits the theme.

Solenopsis Invicta by CoffeeOnimal 2012-04-26T13:32:00

Was really sure what I was doing. Restarted and read the directions again. Still wasn't sure I was playing the 'right way'. I echo the sentiment that more visual feedback is needed.

Super Orbit Worlds by Jhelle 2012-05-13T14:56:00

I like it. Simple, good use of avoidance mechanic. Controls were occasionally jump (perhaps on purpose).

Defendor of Tiny World by Zhal 2012-04-27T16:42:00

A decent start. It was a bit confusing figuring out that I was supposed to let the bullets hit me.

Mitochondrion by Rybar 2012-04-26T02:27:00

Really enjoyed the visuals. It's close to one of the ideas I was considering, so that gives it automatic bonus points.

TINY WORlDS by machinas 2012-04-27T19:11:00

Fun game! The hud often got in the way.

Housefly by dacap 2012-05-13T23:14:00

Well done!

Revolves by natpat 2012-04-26T22:51:00

Good start. A bit buggy, but has potential

Stomp-A-Thump by OnionBlaze 2012-04-27T16:47:00

Glitchy, but really fun!

Mini-Worlds and Monocles by Zed 2012-04-27T16:57:00

Mini-worlds of awesome!

0x17's-TinyWorld by 0x17 2012-04-24T14:56:00

Really fun game. Some of the levels are really hard. I love the controlled chaos of it all.

Tiny Planet by CherryNukaCola 2012-04-24T15:01:00

Lots of fun. I agree that having an option for keyboard controls would be nice.

Lodestar by runsintowalls 2012-04-27T19:14:00

The music didn't play for me either :(

Destroy the Alien Planet by Tokken18 2012-04-26T01:06:00

Good graphics. Had trouble with the controls: stuck to walls, couldn't jump off boxes. I also somehow knocked the core off the screen and couldn't destroy it. Had to reload the game to finish.

A Super Mario Summary by johanp 2012-04-27T00:34:00

Great job summarizing a level in a single screen!

Life in jar by Simple Ghost 2012-04-26T14:24:00

Great visuals. Enjoyed the strategy aspect. I wish things went a bit faster. I walked away a few times to let resources build up. The edges of the screen were cut off. Overall I really liked the game and I think a polished up and balanced version could be a lot of fun.

Slime Buster Micro by brenthamel 2012-04-26T19:47:00

I liked it, but didn't really see how it matched up with the theme. The 'bullets' did not shoot forward when running, but lagged behind. It made it a bit awkward to play.

Propolis by sampyxis 2012-04-26T01:45:00

Want to play this but can't play due to the windows thing. Would play osx, linux, or web.

Single Cycles by mildmojo 2012-04-26T15:14:00

Very cool. The multiplayer mechanism and racer selection is clever.

Tiny Tim's Race World by pythong 2012-05-13T15:03:00

Fun, after 100 or so laps everything was a blur and it became a game of luck, but still fun.

Zephyr by cadin 2012-05-13T21:15:00

Very nice use of sound!

The Cheesiest Game Ever! by zorrtwice 2012-04-26T22:46:00

Good work, keep it up!

Invasion Of The Trivials by RobProductions 2012-04-24T14:47:00

Might just be me, but the controls were very very delicate. Other than that pretty cool!

Tiny's World by tacograveyard 2012-04-24T14:43:00

There are some serious issues with performance. If you can use Safari, I highly recommend it. The game runs much much smoother in it. After some rest I will look into the performance issue and post a second (non-comp) version for anyone who wants to play it.

Tiny's World by tacograveyard 2012-04-26T20:59:00

Thanks for all the feedback! If you are running Chrome or FF, you can use the link to the 'improved performance' version. There was a visual glitch in Safari that required us to put in place an ugly hack that ended up wreaking performance in other browsers. Anyway, inserted a conditional around the hack and everything behaved again.

Tiny's World by tacograveyard 2012-04-27T00:51:00

PIXEL^3, you would think so but unfortunately it isn't.

The problem was that Safari was leaving behind visual artifacts when sprites were disposed. In order to remedy this I created a transparent box over the problem areas to force those areas to be marked as dirty and redrawn. An ugly hack, but it with the lack of time to look into the root cause I left it in.

Turns out that creating these entities (4 in the intro and 3 per character transfer) caused a huge memory issue in Chrome & FF which eventually slows the game to a crawl. Again it doesn't make much sense, but I haven't read the Crafty source to see exactly what is happening.

The second version utilizes the user agent (usually a bad idea) to only create these in Safari and not in other browsers.

Will be interesting to see what is going on when I get a chance to read the CraftyJS source.

mildmogo, thanks! I disabled up & down, but missed WASD!

Tiny's World by tacograveyard 2012-05-12T20:23:00

KevinWorkman, we recorded both versions of the song that are in the game during LD. I just uploaded the tracks to soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/the-four-hats/sets/ludum-dare-23-tinys-world

Tiny Man by Dreauw 2012-04-24T14:28:00

I really liked the game, but the controls felt a bit sticky. If the acceleration was adjusted it would be great.

LD26 — Minimalism

Potato by Dmitrix 2013-04-30T02:51:00

Haha he has quite the jump. Can't go wrong with old school platforming :)

Frost Mint Beach by Kroltan 2013-05-01T02:24:00

I got some thing there but couldn't figure out what to do next! Very nice look and atmosphere though.

shon by bitnenfer 2013-04-30T13:20:00

Really nice! At first I thought I had to mouse over to destroy the enemies but I was pleasantly surprised at the bubble mechanic. All the sfx, and particle effects add to the feel. Great mood!

Rhythm Serenade by Whiteclaws 2013-05-02T19:08:00

Good concept, but a bit buggy. I managed to float through the sky across most of the level.

The Tater Conspiracy by Korda 2013-04-30T02:36:00

Cool look and feel. The mouse moves very fast and I couldn't figure out where to go past the first clue though.

Disposable Rockets by the.vaber 2013-04-30T01:32:00

Nice and simple. Like the color choice.

CUBEBIA by Armix 2013-04-30T01:59:00

I like the icon and the name! Despite being pretty sure that pentagon dodging was impossible I kept trying over and over and over.

Line Knight by berareu 2013-04-30T02:24:00

Nice! Very clever use of minimalism. A little unclear as to who was hitting who at the end, but I think I beat the game!

CHAMELEON RUN by Split82 2013-04-29T14:55:00

Jump has an excellent feel to it. The speed and overall feel of the gameplay is perfect. Definitely best game made with 1 hand.

Misshapen by Aaants 2013-04-29T18:38:00

Great first entry and good job finishing something! It may not be the full vision that you had, but it is still a nice little playable adventure. I am sure next time you will cross the finish line! Great work.

Tundra King by deathray 2013-05-04T00:47:00

Interesting, but I am not entirely sure I get it.. I became the king, but I don't know what the collectables were for.

BiT by SanctuaryInteractive 2013-04-30T03:28:00

Seemed fun what I played but it had trouble loading and seemed to freeze up on spots.

Monoboy by jhrrsn 2013-04-30T02:42:00

Wow, very cool! This was really fun and clever, I had to stay in til the end. Great job!

Minimaloon by StMatn 2013-05-01T02:33:00

I liked this! Good mechanic and addicting.

Neverending bricks by michail 2013-04-30T21:55:00

Interesting how making something infinite tends to simplify it. Good insight.

Bladeless by kidevil 2013-04-30T22:05:00

Great style! Controls were a bit tricky at first. I still don't love them, but I do love the game.

Tower of Pixel by AlanZucconi 2013-04-29T14:53:00

I really enjoyed the mood and atmosphere. This game surprised me and beat my expectations. Thanks for making it!

Mondrian by Kyle Bolton 2013-04-29T17:02:00

Concept is good, gameplay is interesting, but the controls are an absolute bear. I had a really tough time rotating in the direction I wanted.

Bounce by Elrobo 2013-04-30T01:47:00

Really enjoyed this one. Cool idea.

The hit boxes are bit buggy and I did get stuck in a level with no way to continue.

Captain Blowhole by EatYourBeef_Doug 2013-04-30T02:15:00

Very cool! I like the art style and feel. Got lost a bit trying to find souls at first and floated into nothingness a few times but once I found my first souls I was in it to the finish. Well done!

Potate For Your Life! by ps3master72 2013-04-30T02:01:00

I was unable to play as well.

Mythical Bedtime Hero by 3-Bit 2013-05-01T01:49:00

Haha, good use of minimalism! Love the tune!

PaperFlick! by DdlyHeadshot 2013-04-30T01:54:00

YES! I (the coder) wanted to make a text based games but we are a team of two participating in the jam and I was outvoted. I am glad you fulfilled my dream.

Hipster Annihilator 9000 by deige101 2013-04-30T03:31:00

Haha, pretty clever!

One Blocky Room by evilDan 2013-05-01T01:52:00

Short game but clever.

MiniClone by coding_all_night 2013-04-30T01:51:00

Congrats on your first LD! Looking forward to the 10.7 version. I too made an OS/X game.

fightfightfight by bleatingheart 2013-04-30T03:16:00

I love the music.

Dream Fishing by Sophie Houlden 2013-05-02T02:16:00

D'oh, my mouse doesn't have a wheel :(

Please Ignore The Dancing Llama by Zed 2013-04-30T03:00:00

Haha, smashing! There was a llama in the background, not sure if anyone noticed it.

Nod by Rose 2013-04-30T13:51:00

I couldn't get the date! It's too realistic!
Very clever use of minimalism.

Rook, Troll, Scribe by tacograveyard 2013-05-03T12:14:00

I hadn't planned on porting, but I hadn't expected so many people to be interested in a port. I am not sure if I will be able to put the time together to port it, but we will see what happens this weekend.

davidpeter, arcana - I agree the instructions are overly complicated. If I do a deluxe release I'd like to add in a simple tutorial / intro.

arcana - this was made with cocos2d.

Thanks for all the feedback!!!

The Road by GeorgeBroussard 2013-05-02T02:15:00

Genius! You almost want to die to see all the causes.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Sausage Gobbler by Entity2D 2013-08-26T22:19:00

reminded me of lode runner, a classic. at first i thought i needed to collect all of the sausages to progress. game got much easier once i realized that i only needed to make it to the top

TIME SHIFTER by Split82 2013-08-27T01:26:00

The music, concept, and execution are really solid. Great work!

Rascal Ninja by Rafael CP 2013-08-27T00:43:00

Game doesn't show up for me.

Barrage Trigger by PaulSB 2013-08-27T00:38:00

mechanic is neat, coverage system is nice, I agree that it would be nice if it felt tighter. I also fell through the floors a few times.

Breakfast of Champignons by Ravenous Games 2013-08-27T01:42:00

Fun time management game. Music and sfx were solid. Early on I was under serving the food, burning it, under cooking it, and all sorts of horrible. Eventually got the hang of it though and served many yummy breakfasts. Fortunately I am a better cook in real life. Pixel art was top notch.

Captain Robert by koe415 2013-08-26T23:38:00

I ended up outside of the map and wandered around for a bit. "Hi" back at you ;)

Hello Dr. Steiner! by PapyPilgrim 2013-08-27T02:06:00

4628. Never found the good doctor but had fun killing the bots. I eventually ran out of despite making it to the next room and the counter resetting to 10. I guess I cut it too close picking up an extra power up.

Reassessment by tacograveyard 2013-08-27T00:08:00

Hey folks, thanks for the comments! I agree that the game is a bit hard. Don't expect to win, just try to save as many civilians as possible. I posted some hints and tips for anyone interested in a strategy guide.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

SUNK by GeorgeBroussard 2014-05-03T04:38:00

simple but effective. thank you

What Lies Beneath by Stuffie 2014-04-30T02:35:00

I had some strange visual glitches on OSX using the web client. I also managed to get the diamond on my second hook which was super lucky!!
