The form has Windows marked as a required field. There is no iOS radio button.
My apologies! Released the OS was editable when re-examining the form. Updated the entry to reflect that. I blame it on the 72 hours of brain melting.
Realized... need to stop thinking.
What version of iOS is installed? Has the app been installed through testflight? I only see one 3GS that signed up for testflight and I hadn't approved it yet, but am doing so now.
@VonZippenstein I believe your device has just been added to the provisioning file. (Or at least a 3GS who signed up around the time you left the comment)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It is definitely a bit hard. If it we had time to make more content we would definitely have slowed the ramp up in difficulty.
Testflight isn't the best distribution option, but I think it is the only option we had for iOS. Next time we will probably build a flash game.
Hey guys, sadly no web or PC version, but I should have time to port it to OSX over the weekend. Stay tuned!
It ended up taking almost no time to port, just had to figure out what OSX libraries to link to. Enjoy!
If you have OS/X there is also a port now.
Interesting racing game. The controls felt a bit too delicate. After a few tries I got the hang of it though!
I like the interpretation of the theme and the atmosphere, but I couldn't for the life of me get past the first platform. I played for 15 minutes despite that!
SImple game. Very fun mechanic. Would love to see a polished version of this.
Simple, fun, well rounded. Nothing revolutionary, but there doesn't need to be. A joy to play.
Fun game idea with a lot of variety packed in. Great job splitting things into bite size chunks and slowly introducing the player to the game. Awesome to see another entry built using Crafty. I also had a bit of slowdown while playing, but once I loaded it up in Safari everything ran great. (Matching what I experienced with my own entry built w/ Crafty)
Fun game. Wish I could keep growing beyond 711.
Solid game. A bit tedious, but nothing that can't be polished away.
Definitely creepy. I was engaged by the story, wished the character moved just a bit faster.
Absolutely loved it!
I had no idea what I was doing or why, but it was pretty.
Neat game. Cool to see another project done using CraftyJS.
I liked the concept, but had a hard time getting started. I read the controls, but still would have liked a slower intro versus the AI. Once I go used to it I really enjoyed the game.
Had a hard time knowing what I should build and where I should build it. I eventually figured it out, but more visual feedback of what was going on would be nice.
Simple, but really fun mechanic. I had a lot of fun playing it. I think a bit of polish could take this mechanic pretty far.
P.S. It crashed on me after awhile (OSX, Chrome 18)
Don't have Windows :(
Cool game, ran well. Wished for more content when I was done! NIce to see another game using Crafty!
Well done. Made me sympathize with poor Hank! Good job capturing not just the scale implied by the theme, but also the feeling.
Nice use of simple audio and visuals to create something bigger than the parts. I enjoyed finding strategies to differentiate myself from the 'others'. Overall the game left me with a feeling of smallness (which is good).
Good audio, fun styling. It took me awhile to figure out what I was supposed to do, I was trying to run around and shoot my own ship for a bit.
Shooting the planet was fun, but I wasn't sure what I was supposed to aim for. Clicking a lot led to victory.
I really liked the mood and feel of this. Would love to see this expanded into a strategy game.
It was fun to collect stuff. Blowing stuff up is always good. The only downside is that my ship went off screen a few times and I couldn't manage to get it back so I had to restart.
Right click doesn't work on the web player unfortunately. :(
Wonderful!
All you can do is walk back and forth. No gameplay, no story, I suppose it kinda fits the theme.
Was really sure what I was doing. Restarted and read the directions again. Still wasn't sure I was playing the 'right way'. I echo the sentiment that more visual feedback is needed.
I like it. Simple, good use of avoidance mechanic. Controls were occasionally jump (perhaps on purpose).
A decent start. It was a bit confusing figuring out that I was supposed to let the bullets hit me.
Really enjoyed the visuals. It's close to one of the ideas I was considering, so that gives it automatic bonus points.
Fun game! The hud often got in the way.
Glitchy, but really fun!
Mini-worlds of awesome!
Really fun game. Some of the levels are really hard. I love the controlled chaos of it all.
Lots of fun. I agree that having an option for keyboard controls would be nice.
The music didn't play for me either :(
Good graphics. Had trouble with the controls: stuck to walls, couldn't jump off boxes. I also somehow knocked the core off the screen and couldn't destroy it. Had to reload the game to finish.
Great job summarizing a level in a single screen!
Great visuals. Enjoyed the strategy aspect. I wish things went a bit faster. I walked away a few times to let resources build up. The edges of the screen were cut off. Overall I really liked the game and I think a polished up and balanced version could be a lot of fun.
I liked it, but didn't really see how it matched up with the theme. The 'bullets' did not shoot forward when running, but lagged behind. It made it a bit awkward to play.
Very cool. The multiplayer mechanism and racer selection is clever.
Fun, after 100 or so laps everything was a blur and it became a game of luck, but still fun.
Good work, keep it up!
Might just be me, but the controls were very very delicate. Other than that pretty cool!
There are some serious issues with performance. If you can use Safari, I highly recommend it. The game runs much much smoother in it. After some rest I will look into the performance issue and post a second (non-comp) version for anyone who wants to play it.
Thanks for all the feedback! If you are running Chrome or FF, you can use the link to the 'improved performance' version. There was a visual glitch in Safari that required us to put in place an ugly hack that ended up wreaking performance in other browsers. Anyway, inserted a conditional around the hack and everything behaved again.
PIXEL^3, you would think so but unfortunately it isn't.
The problem was that Safari was leaving behind visual artifacts when sprites were disposed. In order to remedy this I created a transparent box over the problem areas to force those areas to be marked as dirty and redrawn. An ugly hack, but it with the lack of time to look into the root cause I left it in.
Turns out that creating these entities (4 in the intro and 3 per character transfer) caused a huge memory issue in Chrome & FF which eventually slows the game to a crawl. Again it doesn't make much sense, but I haven't read the Crafty source to see exactly what is happening.
The second version utilizes the user agent (usually a bad idea) to only create these in Safari and not in other browsers.
Will be interesting to see what is going on when I get a chance to read the CraftyJS source.
mildmogo, thanks! I disabled up & down, but missed WASD!
KevinWorkman, we recorded both versions of the song that are in the game during LD. I just uploaded the tracks to soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/the-four-hats/sets/ludum-dare-23-tinys-world
I got some thing there but couldn't figure out what to do next! Very nice look and atmosphere though.
Good concept, but a bit buggy. I managed to float through the sky across most of the level.
Cool look and feel. The mouse moves very fast and I couldn't figure out where to go past the first clue though.
Nice and simple. Like the color choice.
Nice! Very clever use of minimalism. A little unclear as to who was hitting who at the end, but I think I beat the game!
Jump has an excellent feel to it. The speed and overall feel of the gameplay is perfect. Definitely best game made with 1 hand.
Interesting, but I am not entirely sure I get it.. I became the king, but I don't know what the collectables were for.
Seemed fun what I played but it had trouble loading and seemed to freeze up on spots.
I liked this! Good mechanic and addicting.
Interesting how making something infinite tends to simplify it. Good insight.
I really enjoyed the mood and atmosphere. This game surprised me and beat my expectations. Thanks for making it!
Concept is good, gameplay is interesting, but the controls are an absolute bear. I had a really tough time rotating in the direction I wanted.
Very cool! I like the art style and feel. Got lost a bit trying to find souls at first and floated into nothingness a few times but once I found my first souls I was in it to the finish. Well done!
I was unable to play as well.
Haha, good use of minimalism! Love the tune!
YES! I (the coder) wanted to make a text based games but we are a team of two participating in the jam and I was outvoted. I am glad you fulfilled my dream.
Haha, pretty clever!
Short game but clever.
Congrats on your first LD! Looking forward to the 10.7 version. I too made an OS/X game.
I love the music.
D'oh, my mouse doesn't have a wheel :(
Haha, smashing! There was a llama in the background, not sure if anyone noticed it.
I hadn't planned on porting, but I hadn't expected so many people to be interested in a port. I am not sure if I will be able to put the time together to port it, but we will see what happens this weekend.
davidpeter, arcana - I agree the instructions are overly complicated. If I do a deluxe release I'd like to add in a simple tutorial / intro.
arcana - this was made with cocos2d.
Thanks for all the feedback!!!
Genius! You almost want to die to see all the causes.
reminded me of lode runner, a classic. at first i thought i needed to collect all of the sausages to progress. game got much easier once i realized that i only needed to make it to the top
The music, concept, and execution are really solid. Great work!
Game doesn't show up for me.
mechanic is neat, coverage system is nice, I agree that it would be nice if it felt tighter. I also fell through the floors a few times.
Fun time management game. Music and sfx were solid. Early on I was under serving the food, burning it, under cooking it, and all sorts of horrible. Eventually got the hang of it though and served many yummy breakfasts. Fortunately I am a better cook in real life. Pixel art was top notch.
I ended up outside of the map and wandered around for a bit. "Hi" back at you ;)
Fun concept and good audio. Countless patients died on my table.
BEST MUSIC EVER!
love the tilt when moving and other animations. great job giving a block a lot of character. time well spent on polish.
4628. Never found the good doctor but had fun killing the bots. I eventually ran out of despite making it to the next room and the counter resetting to 10. I guess I cut it too close picking up an extra power up.
Hey folks, thanks for the comments! I agree that the game is a bit hard. Don't expect to win, just try to save as many civilians as possible. I posted some hints and tips for anyone interested in a strategy guide.
simple but effective. thank you
I had some strange visual glitches on OSX using the web client. I also managed to get the diamond on my second hook which was super lucky!!
