LD23 — Tiny World

Freedom by Lucas Schenck 2012-05-03T21:01:00

This got kinda annoying after about five minutes of playing, but it's a legible game. Some collision detection fixes and maybe resetting the level when you die would be some good improvements.

Also, sounds. Being a composer, I can't stress how much audio adds to a game.

Electron Cloud by Evilion 2012-05-05T04:11:00

I like how the other atoms get pissed at you.

@Make A Game
nice pun you have there.

Squish by mailman105 2012-05-13T20:57:00

Nice idea, though it could use a few refinements. the music was catchy.

Tinysasters by Volute 2012-05-06T23:58:00

One of the best games I've played thus far. A little overwhelming at first but once I got the hang of it, it was quit enjoyable.

Phobius by deejorg 2012-05-12T02:23:00

it could have been better if you set the players origin to his midpoint, but nice game anyways. interesting idea, I had fun playing.

Tiny Drop by Lobster Games 2012-05-03T21:12:00

I like it but your going to have to fix the spawning errors. Several times I would spawn in a wall or over nothing and die.
Other then that and some other errors I think it's a good game.

Get The FROG Off My World !! by CitrusPunchSamurai 2012-05-04T02:33:00

I must admit that the game isn't anything new lacks in innovation, however the only major bug is that the frogs sometimes jump to the other side of the planet. Otherwise it plays well.

Twice Upon A Time by DainVadda 2012-05-01T20:44:00

I'm not a linux user myself, but does this run on wine, or would it be possible to port it to linux?

Flip by Kom 2012-05-03T20:43:00

Quite interesting, and I loved the way you executed this idea! The side with the spazzy objects was weird, though.

Toad Warrior by SpaceToaster 2012-04-28T21:56:00

...why is the player nude?

Boxed by starpixie 2012-04-28T18:15:00

The player looks like a girl scout :p
anyways, cool game. the gameplay was fairly original.
question is,
where in the world did you get the idea for this .-.

Tiny World! by unicornpooping 2012-05-06T22:02:00

wow. for being made in 24 hours, it sure is a long game.

spectrumTrap by sugarlollipop 2012-05-03T01:39:00

ludum dare entries require a source

SlimeABug by schattenkind.net 2012-05-09T00:17:00

Creative idea, but there were lag spikes for whatever reason and and ran perfectly the rest of the time. Also, why did you make the screen size so big?

Watercolour by Super Soul 2012-05-04T02:16:00

Loved this game. Love the art style, the 'story'. However there are some collision errors that made the platforming pretty annoying and if the player stands on certain slanted platforms they will start to rotate at a speed faster then then the framerate leading to skipping. Also I'll note that it would be nice to be able to play it again after the 24 hours and not get the end screen again.

Tiny Galaxy by Robert Swan 2012-05-07T02:18:00

Cool game. It was really fun to play. I managed to get everything in one sit down and only had to use the cheat sheet for the last artifact. (second one on the sheet)
There were some pretty well hidden things in there.

terminus by zillix 2012-04-25T05:44:00

Good game. Like the art, multiple endings give it a little replayability, the AI for the other lumberjacks is great. The amount of interaction you can have with the environment is really something.
Only thing is once all four endings are discovered there is little reason to re-play it.

Also, great music. Me gusta jazzy tunes.

WaterdropWorld by barigorokarl 2012-05-07T21:07:00

I couldn't play this game. The lag was unbearable, but then again I am on my laptop. i'll try again on my computer sometime.
Also, nice avatar.

Bright Worlds by johnfn 2012-04-26T01:04:00

pros:
original concept and fairly good art.
The music was catchy.
lighting was pretty good.
Cons:
pushing things wasn't as smooth as smooth as it should be.

Ran fairly well on my craptop. not 1000 frames a second NASA computers, but still ran fairly good.

interesting idea, but some of the paragraphs are just weird.

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-05-13T07:38:00

The mood for this is simply amazing. And it's a good game overall. I didn't have to much trouble with the collisions and clipping but I did have to restart the game a few times. I also wish that the player didn't bob so much. I realize that it supposed to make the player seem weak, and it works, but it's rather disorienting and just makes things annoying. The slow 'camera' speed didn't help that either.
Aside from this the graphics were quit good for only 48 hours and that ambient background music was a nice little icing on the cake.
I do have one question though. What does the blue key do?

-AlucardX60

Nature Wisp by Killswitch 2012-04-25T07:48:00

If this was used to make an actual game, that would be awesome. In it's current stage, i guess it is a game, but it doesn't really have gameplay, just LSD.

Shrink-O-Matic 9000 by GameNacho 2012-05-06T06:00:00

its a bit lacking in actual use of the shrink ray, and the physics are a bit wonky, but i do see effort in this.

Mirror Rays by keenblaze 2012-04-27T07:18:00

A Super Mario Summary by johanp 2012-04-27T09:19:00

Nice. Stopped at 4-1 but I'll come back to it. Love the graphics, love the amount of levels there are. Setting a goal to reach the highest score possible adds to replayability and makes the game more fun overall. I did notice it did suffer from some minor glitches but it didn't effect the game play much. Also it would've been nice to have some music. But overall a solid game.

-AlucardX60

Bottled Worlds by Patacorow 2012-05-03T20:32:00

It's a good game but it eat up with bugs. The hit boxes for the tiles could be tighter in areas, If hit just right the player goes through the wall. Also there was some pretty annoying lag in areas. But if you were to fix these I believe you'd have a very fun game. Don't give up on it just yet.

-AlucardX60

Shake it up! by Tommyno222 2012-04-28T21:55:00

an interesting game, i must admit.
the ant being able to walk through the 'walls' was interesting, not sure if it was intentional or not. anyways, i do suppose it could be more interesting, but it was a very well put together game anyways.

Nice job anyways.
I need an Aspirin.

Stranded by The Evil Cult 2012-04-27T06:35:00

Best entry I've played thus far. Very well polished very fun and complete game. The most disappointing part was finishing it. Until you realize you can play it again. :D
I will say one thing though, I wished the hitbox for the player was a bit tighter. There were times when I accidentally moved a stone in the way but should have had just barely enough room for the player to move through but couldn't. Still I'll keep up with it and play future versions.

-AlucardX60

Sprace by Niavlys 2012-05-03T20:53:00

It was pretty fun, except I found the physics a little jarring and the constant popping sounds when you failed were annoying. Otherwise, fairly good for fourty-eight hours!

Junior's Car by Khayet 2012-05-03T20:48:00

Well... to be honest, this is good for a Game Maker game. The music was kind of clashing, though, and the whole thing was just one. Simple. Level. There weren't any goals, which made things dull; achievements would've been nice.

LD24 — Evolution

GIFT by jellonator 2012-09-07T13:49:00

Pretty frustrating, bullets are hard to see, it's hard to aim correctly without the shield wearing out on you.

But good job.

Hope we decide to collaborate for LD25. ~MK

LD25 — You are the Villain

Lunar Frenzy by Fireblend 2012-12-18T19:23:00

I do quit like this game even though it's pretty basic. The shaking mechanic and amount of mines made it difficult but not impossible. A round of the game seems pretty short but the end score make you feel like you've played for a longer time, which is perfect for a compo version. But in the postmortem I reccomend lowering the mine count and maybe score received from planets to make the game longer.

~AlucardX60

Super Space Goat Thief Standoff!! by Jezzamon 2012-12-19T05:20:00

Nice and simple arcade style game. The bounce mechanic was cool and helps with the larger crowds but it still feels a little rough. I like the art and the humor.

Misadventures of Dr. Bardo by PIXEL^3 2012-12-18T03:53:00

SuperDisk: Sorry, we didn't have time for good level design or getting them in order. There is however a difficulty setting, just hit O at the title.

7Soul: The bug has been fixed in both the DB and dA versions.

~AlucardX60

Misadventures of Dr. Bardo by PIXEL^3 2012-12-18T04:32:00

The final boss death glitch:
In level 7, the player's y is below 480, which is alright because the level height is 960. But in the Final boss room, the room height is 480 and since the player is below the room for a slip second, the game thinks he fell and died down a bottomless pit. I had to remove endless pit functionality to make it work again.

Misadventures of Dr. Bardo by PIXEL^3 2012-12-19T07:32:00

"The music was okay at first, but over time was tiring on my ear." Thanks for the feedback, I tried out more detailed music this LD since I felt fancy.

"That noise sweep thingy in the music got annoying after a while." Just an experiment, I realize now it shouldn't actually be part of the main music. Thanks for the feedback!

MEMEX by Cake&Code 2012-12-19T04:49:00

Beautiful. Both the art and story. It kinda reminds me a of a creepy pasta, but one of the well written ones. The puzzles were a little too easy though, I flew through all the levels with little challenge.

~AlucardX60

Revenge Bear by dek 2012-12-19T08:30:00

Love it. Revenge Bear was well animated but the dog was rushed. (I can tell it only has three frames total) It's always fun to beat down waves of enemies by yourself and the Fist of Revenge move is very satisfying.

~AlucardX60

Abrupt Salvation by NostraDamon 2012-12-18T06:34:00

This may have been the first five stars I've ever given an LD game. With a doubt the funnest I've played thus far, the music was great, and the explosions where extremely gratifying. My only problem was that lag that can get in the way when platforming is necessary, for example the bridge, and the pole jumps (Which I swear was made to kill you) at the end of the hallway thing. Fix the lag and this game isn't gold, it's platinum.

~AlucardX60

Abrupt Salvation by NostraDamon 2012-12-19T05:31:00

Sorry for the late reply. I was playing the standalone on the fastest setting, and I think 640x480. But to be fair I had other things open which are probably to blame. I didn't try blowing up the poles so that was the problem there.
With the lag I wasn't able to tell how far I was jumping so I ended up going too short but eventually the lag did clear up long enough for me to pass the bridge.

~AlucardX60

Troll Bridge by donmilham 2013-01-05T08:28:00

A little repetitive, the kicking area is a bit strict, the sounds were a bit annoying and falling off the bridge is a bit too easy, but the graphics were nice and brought in a few laughs.

Prison Escape by Tyren 2012-12-19T03:11:00

Pretty good mechanic you have going here, but this mechanic alone kinda makes the game feel a little bland, though the time restriction helps. It was also a little difficult getting the angle right. (I haven't beaten lvl 2 yet) I think in the future you should add a continue setting, and make it so the player slowly move towards the mouse. Not only would this make it less difficult but it's actually more realistic for zero gravity. I like the title/play music, but I felt the pause music was displaced.

~AlucardX60

ECHO CHAMBER by Loren 2012-12-19T09:24:00

I like the idea, collecting enough good reviews to counter critics, but I felt it could've been executed better. At first it can be kinda fun, rushing to click as many as you can. But what I quickly realized was that nothing changed. The difficulty stayed the same level of easy the entire time so I could virtually play forever. And half of that gameplay is watching text fly across the screen. I apologize if I sound too harsh, but I'm not the programmer of the group so I can't begin to imagine what might of had to go into this. But from an 'average joe' view this game is a bit boring. Adding some difficulty, like a gradually larger media requirement, or mixing critics in with the media would've at least helped remedy this a little. On the bright side it's one of the more original games I've played.

~AlucardX60

Eye of an Slender by Maristak 2012-12-20T00:33:00

I'll admit that playing switching roles with game villains may not be the MOST original idea this LD but it's certainly not a bad one. The gameplay needed a bit more polish, the kids vanishing doesn't make for a satisfying kill, same with teleporting. Also, the original Slender game had only one player in the woods, but I see why you would change that. But maybe you shouldn't have, and instead force player to induce a certain amount of fear into the child before you can kill him. Sprites were okay for the time time limit. I like how Slender tilts his head in the idle animation. Though the children sprites look of a different style and detail. Where they taken from somewhere else?

~AlucardX60

Cursed by Wet Heads 2012-12-30T12:21:00

Didn't run. I'm on Ubuntu 12.10, 64bit. I'm using OpenJDK 7 runtime. The main menu showed up, nothing really all that fancy, but when I click 'Start game' it doesn't run, it just turns into a blank screen.

Blood Money by Typedeaf 2012-12-18T07:51:00

Diffidently quit fun. Not to hard, but not exactly too easy either. It made me feel quit villainous too. All you need now is some better graphics.

~AlucardX60

The Rise and Fall of Professor Moriarty by ProfessorMoriarty 2012-12-19T04:01:00

Best game I've played yet. Fits the theme perfectly, the graphics where simple but clean, the music was fitting, and I could've played for hours. My one and only complaint is that it's sometimes difficult to select a unit. I realized later you had to hold the mouse button down but still had occasional difficulty with it.

~AlucardX60

Balloon Frenzy 4: Turbo Edition by theRestlessTaxidermists 2012-12-18T14:29:00

Great. I love the idea of playing the other side of the screen and the "player's" diffidently added to the fun, but I felt it was far too easy and far to short.

~AlucardX60

Monologuer by Devenger 2012-12-18T05:35:00

Haha. One of the top games I've played thus far. It fits the theme perfectly, and the humor was great, and pretty fun to play. Though for some reason I felt the difficulty was off a tad. It's probably just me though.

~AlucardX60

Dungeon Mastermind by 7Soul 2012-12-18T06:53:00

The graphics reminded me of NES games like Ghost N' Goblins. The music was very fitting and I found it fun to use deductive reasoning to find the perfect way to assassinate the hero. Perhaps something you might want to do is add an icon for element, classes, etc. that have already been deduced so the player doesn't have to scroll through the other dungeons. But it's completely optional and the game functions just fine without it.

~AlucardX60

Invaders by huhwhozat 2012-12-18T03:12:00

I like the concept of reversing roles, and this is a good game overall. However I found it a little boring. At first it's near impossible to dodge bullets so for the most part I'm just waiting for the alien count to start dwindling. I also noticed that one of the original elements was missing, as my army became smaller and smaller they didn't speed up at all like the original game.
What I think should be done postmortem is to add speed increases, enhance the gun AI, and find a way to make the player more involved.

X-Moon by leafo 2013-01-06T11:50:00

Awesome music, cool shaders, nice gameplay, I'd say this is by far the best LD25 game I've seen so far, and it's a löve2D game(love the framework)

Hell Guy Hells It Up by TyrusPeace 2012-12-24T03:14:00

Love it. Fun to play, graphics were good, and the music was fitting and nice to listen to. The gameplay was fun, but I felt it could use some difficulty. Also at the end of the game you can walk off the stage and you can keep moving the camera afterwards. I suggest resetting the game there.

~AlucardX60

Another Castle by RosyPenguin 2012-12-18T07:19:00

Overall I like it, but it has a touch of lag for me and I felt like the player wasn't involved enough. Maybe it's just me. Otherwise the music and art is quit nice.

~AlucardX60

Eaten by wzl 2012-12-18T08:14:00

Very fun game, graphics were consistent and well sprites well animated. The watchers forces players to use a bit of strategy in an otherwise easy game. I'd like to see the tiles given more texture in future though as right now they are pretty flat and bland compared to the people.

~AlucardX60

Internet Avenger by Nolan C 2013-01-06T02:19:00

I had fun playing this, it was very humorous, but I did find restarting from the beginning very frustrating, along with the floaty jumping always screwing me up on the bosses. Other than that, great game.

We Drive Unto The Fortress by SmallDeadGuy 2012-12-19T02:20:00

Great game. I love that you combined a tank game with a strategy game. the AI's were well made, but they seemed to want to get as close to you as possible, which nearly negated blocks, not to mention a better strategy would be to shoot from afar and evade. The aiming mechanic is fine as it's to be expected of a tank game, but another thing expected of a tank game it the ability to avoid hits. Perhaps allow tanks to use any remaining moves to avoid the shot? I didn't exactly feel like a villain though. Maybe this could be remedied with different music? Also on lvl 2 "winters were harse," Did you mean harsh?

~AlucardX60

Spare Pieces by sauronz 2012-12-18T20:21:00

I love the graphics, though the grey 'road' tiles feel a bit repeated. Doubling the screen size wouldn't be a bad idea but could pose a problem with some smaller screens. I like the stealth gameplay that makes the player wait for the right moment, but I found the Arrowmen to be a bit overpowered with being able to walk through buildings. The music is relaxing with aids with the required patience. I rarely found myself using the disguise mechanic however, and there was a bit of lag with the menus and restart screens.

~AlucardX60

Hunt yourself, or something by rvmook 2012-12-30T12:10:00

It was an interesting idea, but it doesn't really have much in it. The day time isn't really long enough to set 'traps,' and then survive the night. A postmortem would be pretty cool, I'd like to see where you could take this concept.

Love the pixel art and the puzzles. I'm actually quit amazed at what you could get done in 3 days. The game at great characters and set a good feel throughout. My only problem was during the boss fight it got really laggy for some reason. And every time I died it took it's sweet time respawning me.

SwapArcade by [-BipolarDesign+] 2013-08-28T03:53:00

Nice puzzle game. I only played the easy mode but it was quit fun once you get past the pipe puzzles. You should have the game reset at the beginning of a puzzle instead of restart the game. I was also disappointed at the ending but maybe time got in the way. It would be interesting to pursue these characters more in a postmortem.

This game is the funniest game I've played yet. The crash sound was strangely satisfying, the commands for putting on and/or screwing up your parachute are great. The only thing I didn't like was that when I miss the parachute I have to wait to restart.

Good Lord it's Dragon Warrior all over again. I just sunk 2 hours into this game. I like the bit of story at the beginning and the art style has it's own charm to it. The only real problem is that it takes a while to get the ball rolling. After upgrading my weapon 3 times I finally felt like I was playing. The music also gets really repetitive after a little while. I had to take my headphones off.
Also if you follow it postmortem I would suggest a save function. Sinking 2 hours into it only to lose the progress if I close the window is really disappointing.

Pac-man the horror game. That's the best was to describe this.

You set up a good atmosphere and my palms were sweaty the whole way through. The creaking sounds were a great touch.

Ten Seconds To Space by Arcana 2013-09-14T02:37:00

Cute little game with good audio too it, the sound effects mix with the music rather well. Though the enemies usually spawn too close to the center usually resulting in them ramming me with no time to react. Best I got was about 530 points or so.

-AlucardX60

SpaceSwitch by truiton 2013-09-14T03:09:00

A lot more engaging then I thought it would be. The mechanic made me patient, and on my toes at the same time. The music added to the strangeness of an ever changing world. It was fun and at times a little frustrating. I only wish the mechanic was used a bit better in the level design. I hope you pursue this postmortem.

Clockwork Dragons by cvaneseltine 2013-09-14T03:29:00

Fun little board game. Fits the theme well. Though I'm not sure the rules were clear enough for me because I never got the results I had envisioned. Still won though.

Delayed by Jordo76 2013-09-13T20:42:00

It was a little slow at first but it catches up after a few levels. (a Delay if you will. :P) Though counting tiles gets a little tedious and it's frustrating when I miscount and have to restart if I want 5 stars. The music didn't get repetitive though and probably helped me stay calm. There was a certain amount of polish on this game that can't be seen with screenshots. Also the little messages were a nice touch lightening the mood of the game and kinda peeks into your teams mind like what kind of jokes you might have made while working on it.

Time Rupture by Tanser 2013-08-29T21:58:00

I like the graphics and the idea is simple. Perhaps too simple though. The game gets rather repedititive and twice my character got stuck in an object as soon as I changed times.
it obviously needs work but it has good potential.

Card Smack by qualia 2013-09-13T21:08:00

You're right. I honesty had no idea what I was doing so I was just throwing out the strongest card I had. No I wasn't even doing that I was just throwing out card. And still won.
I liked the graphics and had fun with it and might actually play again. It would be nice if you pursued this more and added things like difficulty setting and maybe 2 player local or online. And music would be nice.

Slick game with great graphics and an insane amount of polish. It's kinda like a modern Asteroids. There are a few issues though. It would be nice to have a indicator to where your equipment is in case I would lose it, and there seems to be a bug where I can't pick up items if they are on the reactor. Overall though I'd really like to see a postmortem.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

ScubaBear by _Rilem 2014-05-09T06:27:00

This is amazing for a 72 hour game. I do have a few nitpicks like the effects of items could be more apparent, place the light bulb in a barely dark area for example. I liked the game references though and I think this game has enough polish that I'd pay for it even in it's current state.

~AlucardX60

The Valley Rule by Raiyumi 2014-05-01T03:58:00

The amazing execution and polish on this game has me bewildered. Wall climbing and double jumping are some of my favorite mechanics from the retro era and you put them to good use. Unfortunately I got stuck on what I assume to be the third power up's room. Can wall climb my way up that overhang.

UNDERQUEST by Tweak 2014-04-29T08:44:00

Nice game, great art style. The controls feel pretty tight and the levels are just the right difficulty. I really wish it was longer. The respawn rate of the character is too fast though, by the time I realize I'm back I've already moved 2 blocks away. Also it's a shame you never got music into the game, it really needed it. (I know you posted some tracks but I opted to play it as was presented)

I'd like to see this continued honestly.

The Mine by Almost 2014-05-06T04:45:00

I really like the idea of nearly automating the player, removing the annoying grunt work from the mining process. But it could use more. Like the ability to move the players with the arrow keys/WASD as well as the auto mining with the mouse. If expanded upon I'd like to see more exciting elements, more things to craft, mobs to fight off, win/loss states, etc.

~AlucardX60

Drill Arena by TheDreik 2014-05-05T03:31:00

Surprisingly more fun then a thought it would be, but but for a weird reason. It a lot harder than it really should be but after playing for a bit I was able to scrap some strategies together and rack up 17 kills. It reminds me of some of our recent games where we didn't have enough time to polish it up so it's playable but really unevenly built.

~AlucardX60

Water Hazard by Hemuuuli 2014-04-29T05:11:00

Somehow even clunkier then the classic tank controls, like how he leans to his left if you sprint while holding down W. Regardless you captured the campiness of games like Resident Evil quit well. I shall patiently await the disc 2 fix.

~AlucardX60

Substratum by Ian MacLarty 2014-05-03T04:01:00

Pretty good, a little weird. Not much going for it in terms of aesthetics, but I guess that's where the term "programmer art" comes from, right?
The concept is pretty cool too.

vers la lumiere by davidB 2014-05-09T07:30:00

Nice and solid game. The minamalist art style makes things very readable. I was afraid that the weird depth perception would make jumps hard but they were surprisingly easy. Everything in the game works well but there isn't much there. Also, this is nit pick, it might just be because I've been playing Super Meat Boy but the continue screen got pretty annoying. I'd prefer it if you just respawned immediately.

~AlucardX60

Spunk Spelunk by ChuiGum 2014-05-07T03:49:00

Neat little game, wish you could move up/down while swinging and the controls were more intuitive. Maybe a rapid fire feature would've helped so I didn't have to mash the awkward left/right arrow. But a rebind might do just as well.

~AlucardX60

Surface Tension by frankbsad 2014-04-29T23:10:00

Relaxing and addictive is a funny combination but it works well here. I only got a higbscore of 156 but with a perfect x3 combo I feel pretty good about the score. I'll be sure to work on it though.

~AlucardX60

Rosa Neurosa by Wertle 2014-04-29T07:13:00

The gameplay itself I found a bit lacking. I'm not sure what it was supposed to be other than maybe dig dug. However the art quality and story writing mechanic make this a formidable entry. Also an interesting use of the theme.

~AlucardX60

[Work in Progress] by Jon Fischer 2014-04-29T03:55:00

Interesting game.Liked the general atmosphere of the game though it is a little disorienting. The puzzles felt intuitive and weren't too hard to figure out, the problem was the actual solving. Physics games always seem to have the problem of things not working how you want them. I managed to get past the pool but when faced with that wall I kind of gave up. Couldn't get things to stack right. It might have helped a little if you had a wider PoV. Though I'm used to Quake Pro in Minecraft so it might just be me.

Deep South Motel by iossif 2014-04-30T06:31:00

In the Black by HybridMind 2014-05-12T21:33:00

Nice I liked the mood you set with the white on black, the old west style font, and banjo. The gameplay seems well balanced, I got $9,200+ my first play through which was so close I needed to play again, which is something I like to see but after that it's way too easy.

~AlucardX60

AHH LAVA! by Dreii 2014-05-07T04:07:00

Nice, I love the feel of this game. Blowing things up feel satisfying with the screen shake, and the sound effects, the graphics are fairly consistent. If you want to get through though I found that you have to pretty much abandon bauble hunting making for your end score to be about at random as the levels themselves. Managed 18 though.

~AlucardX60

Come Home by cwkx 2014-04-30T06:47:00

Well don't get me wrong I liked this game but it was really lacking. There is no agency here, you just go right. At least in other art games, like Loneliness, there is agency. It could have potential though, of being something along the lines of To the Moon, if expanded upon and giving the player choices, or at least the illusion of choices.

~AlucardX60

Darkness Looms by TeamOmni 2014-05-09T08:50:00

Really nice mood going on here. I haven't tried it yet but it's interesting to see a level designer too. I felt like the game was punishing though, taking a wrong turn was practically a death sentence and it was really hard to read the player. I understand that darkness is a hard mechanic to work with though and I admire your attempt, but I think the mechanic needs to be either heavily refined or rethought altogether.

StrataGEM by ActionRemix 2014-04-30T07:32:00

It's like the Rubiks Cube and Tetris had a baby that decided to be a body builder. I had fun with it even though I'm not good at puzzles. There was enough space for me to just look around for an easy looking solve and grab it. The strategy only netted my 725 pts though. But I couldn't get frustrated with that music playing.

~AlucardX60

Deep Calls To Deep by Romko Pidstryhach 2014-05-09T07:50:00

Great atmospher created by the music and art, I like the interpretation of the theme. Aside from the random generation flaws I also find it odd to die whenever you hit a flat wall and I think that, due to the several flaws, the game should be shorter. At least the LD version.

~AlucardX60

Cave Ghost by CodeNMore 2014-05-07T05:20:00

The thing that went right with this game is that it's very easy to get 6 or 7 consistently which makes you want to play another round because you're so close the the needed 10 scrap. However some time the ghost gang up on you and it can be hard to escape because the character's hitbox is so tall it's hard to fit into horizontal corridors.

~AlucardX60

Defy Hades by MyrddinsOwl 2014-04-29T08:52:00

~AlucardX60

Running Blind by Balloonsfor600 2014-05-07T05:05:00

~AlucardX60

Mermurder! by Root Beer Barrel Boys 2014-05-09T08:27:00

I liked the graphics and distraction mechanic of the top of the map but the depths were extremely lacking, graphically and mechanically. The gameplay is challenging, but not too challenging. I like it.

The Pond by ToOB 2014-05-01T04:40:00

I have to agree with Jonochrome. The hit boxes could use some tightening and the obstacles could be made more clear. Also the tentacles should only move forward when you are hit. But these are all things that shouldn't be too hard to fix so good job. Really liked the art though.

~AlucardX60

Mine Upgrade by Keehan12 2014-05-01T06:49:00

Nice graphics and pretty addictive. After I got all the upgrades (including the bomb), 200 of all the equipment and $1M I sold everything and closed shop. In the end I had $2.7M.
What this game needed though was price scaling with the number of equipment. E.g. more miners, higher cost per miner. Otherwise after you hit 15+ money per second you can just spam the buy button.

PhotoBound by PIXEL^3 2014-12-24T15:37:00

@gana0
No, the random dying is a weird bug that affects a small ammount of players. No idea what causes it. Probably some kind of floating point thing, but I don't know. Repeatedly jumping helps, but it's not a fix. I wasn't able to reproduce the bug myself, but I have seen people stream it and get the bug. We are creating a post-compo version which should fix everything.

One-Floor Dungeon by Ryusui 2014-12-10T07:25:00

Wow! I could see a post-compo version of this being pretty popular, it's kind of Gauntlet meets Binding of Isaac and i like it. I wander if a Gauntlet style multiplayer might work here, either with larger rooms or a larger grid to let everyone explore separately. Could be competitive like that too. Something to think about.

Super Engine Blast by savethejets1 2014-12-24T02:48:00

Cool puzzle platformer. I'd love to see this expanded upon post-jam. Loved the 'bomb' blocks they really helped keep the board from getting unruly mid-late game. It might be cool if the player could stack blocks, like pick up a block then let another block fall on top of it to stack it.

-AlucardX60

One Room Dungeon by HacksawUnit 2014-12-14T07:08:00

The felt fast paced and hectic. There were time when I knew I was going to get hit by an enemy but it felt like the death animation played early. The enemies definitely needed more time before activating to let the player avoid them.

If you were to continue this postcompo I'd tell you to work on the game feel and either remove the sword and focus on movement or make swordplay feel better.

-AlucardX60

Game of the Probability Goose by Alexandre Szybiak 2014-12-24T07:12:00

Your average board game but with a choose your own RNG twist. I like it. The concept sounds nice and the game looks good but it seems to have a lot of bugs. Shinobi Showdown by CustomPhase 2014-12-14T05:55:00

This was pretty fun but there's not much meat to it yet with just single player. It needed some crazier physics perhaps. One Does Not Simply Walk Into More Doors by Wertle 2014-12-14T08:35:00

I loved the tutorial here. Really eases the player into the mechanics. There was a problem with it though after I got into the game proper. It was tedious. I was dying a decent amount and when you get to the end game your strategy is 'go into closets door and hope you end up in a good spot' and it's hard to do that when you only have 4-6 doors which was tripping me up and making me spend more time then needed in them. Maybe have the game check if the players highscore is greater than the number of tutorial candies?

Despite that the game itself is pretty fun and I could see people playing it when they have a little downtime from work and the like.

-AlucardX60

One screen Labyrinth by NaoisTheGuardian 2014-12-10T07:45:00

I had a problem where the player twitched around while idle and would be propelled a little bit in odd directions as I moved. There were a few time where this killed me as soon as the labyrinth change. But with a lot of polish I could see this as a mobile game.

-AlucardX60

The Broadenlands by Wolve 2014-12-24T03:21:00

Really imaginative game. I liked seeing what all the objects would turn into upon entering the next scene. I felt like that mechanic wasn't fully realized yet but you did good for the time that you had. I also kinda wished that the exploration was little but more open ended but I under stand that's harder to do in the 72 hour time space.

-AlucardX60

Super Death Grid Of Death (with deadly beats) by Stending 2014-12-17T06:52:00

Wow. This is practically shipable. There was one problem I found with it though is that the hitbox on the lasers seem to activate around the time they reach full size instead of when the turn opaque. This is pretty unintuitive as you think they're safe as long as they're transparent.

I could see this being a good game though, add more tracks with accompanied stages and the like.

-AlucardX60

Adrift by Supernaught 2014-12-24T05:01:00

The first half of the game seemed pretty well designed which leads to wander why the second half had so many bad design choices. There was no indication that only the red guy could pass over the red floor, which is especially confusing since you just got the green guy. Also why is it that the green guy can only be used on one switch that looks like all the other switches that the blue guy steps on.

I liked this game and I hope you'll fix all the problems it has right now. It's just a shame that they're there in the first place.

The game felt a bit bland. The guns didn't feel very good, the SFX and knockback they deserved was almost entirely absent. I'd recommend analyzing the guns in Super Crate Box and maybe some FPSs.
It would be cool if the player had the choice of shooting in one direction or both. Double the firepower if you shoot in one direction at the cost of defense on the opposite end. Maybe even double the knockback so you risk throwing yourself into enemies.

Walk to the door by el-pepi 2014-12-11T08:06:00

It was a really fun game. Planning out a route and executing felt good. The game was really clear and readable. I wish the arrow hit box for the arrows were more the shape of the arrow itself and not the circle. Also it might have been nice to have a reset window instead of having to go to the menu button for it.

Tenebris by SilentNight 2014-12-09T09:18:00

Good level design and a great atmosphere. The lighting mechanic made you move at a certain pace which keeps you on enough of an edge to keep interested. There were a few bad levels, particularly levels with pots that can get stuck in corners but otherwise great game.

PC WARS by Lafolie 2014-12-10T04:41:00

This is a really well balanced game that's just deep enough to quickly get into. The graphics fit really well but I wish I could tell friendlies from enemies better. The music sounded good and wasn't repetitive. Needs 2 player mode in postcompo.

Box by ShaunJS 2014-12-14T07:54:00

I watched this game played in a stream beforehand and it felt really cool and novel, but then when I came to play it for myself I found that the novelty had worn off and it wasn't as fun as I expected.

I get that the purple blocks are completely optional and I could just opt to build a castle instead but their presence makes me want to collect them which spawns the hazards and after hazards are present it stops feeling like a sandbox. It's worth noting I'm not the kind of person to build castles in minecraft either so maybe it's just not my cup of tea.

Jumping n' Jumping by Eduardo 2014-12-24T07:53:00

Wow this game was really fun to play I loved being able to chain jumps together like this. I must admit though that the only thing bogging it down was how floaty the jumping was. A little hard to control imo but then again I did have some lag for some reason. Great game I hope you continue it.

Beat+Trak by Lynx 2014-12-24T05:39:00

I liked this game as music game. It was fun to play a couple times and see what score you could get. It's not without problems of course, the cursor is hard to see when it's in the center of the screen and the activating/closing felt a little slow. But I trust that it will be greatly improved postcompo.

Neon Z City by Odefus 2014-12-09T07:53:00

-AlucardX60

Tiny Miner by Maxw3ll 2014-12-11T04:39:00

I don't see Harvest Moon type RPG Maker games often so this was nice. The dialogue was fun to read but the game itself got repetitive fairly quickly and I wish it was more clear that the quota changed every 5 minute segment. Some music might have helped too. There's enough tracks in the RTP to have a new song every five minutes to keep it from getting repetitive.

-AlucardX60

GTAlien by Pulsartronic 2014-12-14T09:24:00

The game had a nice dark humor about it and it worked well. Smacking around people while a little difficult was still easy enough to have fun with, the cops though are a little hard to deal with. The addition of the car in the postmortem version was great because I could let it hit people for me and let me deal with the cops. Sometimes though I'd pick up a person, not noticing a cop, and be stuck with no option but to throw the person at the cop which did nothing strangely. That would be something cool to add in the game later. But I think this would make a nice mobile/browser game where people can play it in short 5 minute burst.

Rocket Jump Rampage by Code Medicine 2014-12-18T08:18:00

Cool. I actually haven't seen rocket jumping used for platforming outside of FPSs. The graphics were great and the audio set a good mood. Rocket jumping is something that takes a little getting used to but I got the hang of it.

My only complaint is that the respawn should be faster since you die a lot.

Glitter Pixel Will Save The World by wooltech 2014-12-11T07:23:00

The voice was cute and I thought it added a lot of character to the player. The game felt kinda slow though as I kept getting stuck on random pixels in the level. This also made the game feel really long and I never finished it. Got the lava shield but quit before making it through the volcano. If it had half as many upgrade items and fewer pixels to collect before beating the game it would've helped.

The level felt like you went through the world with an eraser the make paths. It might have been better if you used a more clear approach to the levels instead of this rough 'cave' like level.

It didn't help that the checkpoint were so far away from each other. Also if you made the background and walls darker it would've been easier to find your pixel.

-AlucardX60

ROCKROCKET by Backterria 2014-12-11T11:37:00

The atmosphere here was astounding! The world was fun to explore but it got tedious in the middle when I couldn't find the last few orbs. It would've been nice to see who the player was at the start, I just mashed buttons till I fell in water. Sometimes I felt like the world was working against me with odd geometry as well.

-AlucardX60

Dabug by Devark 2014-12-11T09:56:00

-AlucardX60

Gearverse by MistySoulsGames 2014-12-24T02:19:00

I felt like the cannons were too hard to hit because the bullets were too hard to control. If the field was stronger yet still had the same range maybe that would be better, for example attract a bullet till its close then switch polarities to shoot it out at a high speed. Or perhaps if your were able to store 1-3 bullets and shoot them by changing polarities. Maybe even have the 4th bullet hurt you so you have to get rid of the bullet quickly.

Elem3nts by Pix3M 2015-04-28T07:26:00

The game looks great and the concept it fun to think about and play with, but in practice it's pretty broken.
The balancing is almost non-existent as it seems to be too easy up until the Annoying Adventurer when it's nearly impossible.
The game does have potential but you need to work on the balancing a lot before it's fun to play.

Banana Nana by miau 2015-04-28T10:09:00

Awesome work! Game looked and felt pretty good for an NES game. It could use some health indicators and a little bit more hints at where to go after the first banana since it didn't really seem to be that deep exploration that LoZ had. (at least not currently)
There was that one area of the map though that I missed at the end that I wanted to go back for but the game ended when I picked up the last banana from the angry monkey.

StickyBot by JALgames 2015-04-28T06:28:00

The rover felt pretty floaty which is opposite of what I thought, that he's be heavy and I'd have to rely on sticking to walls a lot. (Which I did) I found it a bit odd that the levels had me going down so much more than up since the sticking ability naturally made me want to climb things. As for the sticking mechanic itself it does need some fine tuning but didn't get in the way as much as it could have. Overall you did a pretty good job.

Dictator by Tanner 2015-04-21T09:12:00

Not bad, the voice recognition broke on me a couple times but it was funny when it worked. Maybe you were going for dark humor but it might be better with a themeing that fit the hilarity of bad voice recognition. A debate for example.

Fathom by Joe Williamson 2015-04-28T07:00:00

Nice entry man. Graphics an audio where definitely top-notch. The bullet time mechanic was fun to play with but sometimes hard to use since you almost need to anticipate it or get shot. Also I did brute force my way through the machine gun turret the first time I played it and I'm not even sure what the Speed++ did for me. I didn't feel any faster. :/
Either way great entry!

Hug Arena by Benjamin 2015-04-21T09:27:00

There was something about the game that kinda felt off to me, probably just a fine tuning thing like making the player move a little bit faster or something. It still looked and sounded really good and the risk/reward gameplay was interesting.

Death By A What!? by Murchurl 2015-04-21T07:10:00

The game as a great mood and I like how the music got more upbeat as you went on. The Bunny gun was pretty overpowered an I wish I got some feedback when I took damage. Also it could use more mouse sensitivity but maybe that's me.

The Hand That Feeds by Skinny Jean Death 2015-04-28T09:44:00

The concept of this game seems pretty good though the execution seems to fall a little flat. It's hard to control your pet and since your player's hitbox seems to be pretty big (or maybe the enemies' hit box) I get hit sometimes without feeling like I should've. I did find a spot in the middle of the map above the red and green portals that the pet couldn't make it to so by throwing a fruit he'd just run around almost indefinitely killing enemies. Racked up 137 points this way.
It's good that you're starting this over from scratch though, you might be able to clean it up and make something out of it.

Oh Sheeeep! by marinalucio 2015-04-21T07:20:00

A nice charming game, not much to it right now though.
Such a happy ending for a happy sheep.

Farm Fury by ironleonem 2015-04-28T09:09:00

The hitboxes felt a little large so I felt like I was taking damage I shouldn't have and the fruit/seed controls were pretty hard to use mostly due to how hectic it gets later on. It is a fun game though and a bit addictive. I didn't seem to notice much difference in the fruit though, the strawberries grow in large patches and are fast, and carrots shoot through enemies but oranges just seem to be harder hitting, slower growing strawberries. I did unlock the grapes but died before using them, hopefully they were a AoE thing. I'll give this a few plays later to see if I can unlock more fruit.

Up & Away! by bytegrove 2015-09-06T19:54:00

I like the art and the setting. The music got repetitive over the course of 4 or 5 playthroughs. I felt like the controls would have been fine if I was given more air control and if there was a few frames to jump walking off a ledge as there was a lot of deaths from that. I also felt like the level design didn't compliment it well, as if you couldn't get a good flow of movement going. You had to stop and do a double or triple jump in place sometimes to get were you wanted to go. But maybe that's because I tried to speedrun it. Speaking of which it's apparently a sub 2 minutes game. https://youtu.be/6q_De-aiH6c

Who cares the M%rtgage by bukt 2015-08-30T06:43:00

Very well made clicker game. The music really sets the mood very nicely, and the graphics were pretty good too. As with any clicker game, there isn't much in terms of gameplay, but it was pretty fun to go through and see all of the little details and messages.

Trouble in Monsterland by ZYXer 2015-08-31T22:44:00

Looks really good, and was a decent challenge. Are the body parts just visual, or do they have effects? It seemed like I walked faster with more legs and had more range with more arms, but I'm not entirely sure. If this is the case, then what did the heads do?

NotZilla: Ice Cream Vendor by RisingPixel 2015-08-26T15:23:00

Really clever interpretation of the theme. It was a little short, but it was a lot of fun.

"Real" by callmemonamiral 2015-08-28T21:25:00

I played through the game without killing anything and I still got the ending. A part where the player is forced to kill an enemy might help to make the end make more sense, even in circumstances like this. As for the actual subject matter, if an enemy is trying to kill me, and they obviously are, then I'm going to kill the enemies.
As another little side note, the lighting is way too dark. Consider trying out some ambient lighting to make sure that there aren't any places that are too dark to see.

Cave Lord by sbarrio 2015-08-31T21:03:00

I really liked the concept, and it was pretty well executed. Some hero though, he bring rotten herbs and missing every shot he takes. The rocks were more of a threat than that guy.

VINDICTAE by Pickens Inc. 2015-08-28T21:41:00

Very nice game, I really enjoyed the idea of possessing the enemies and using their weapons.
One of the things I think would be interesting in a game like this would be to implement a 'field of view' for enemies, so that they only see the player when the player is in sight.
One complaint I had was that when I beat a level, I was immediately thrust into the next level without really much warning and I was killed nearly instantly several times just because I was still holding down the movement keys when the level changed(Don't worry, I'm guilty of this too).
I feel like this would make for a really good postmortem game with some more content and variety added to it.

Grave by uheartbeast 2015-09-01T01:47:00

Excellent mood set by beautiful graphics and a somber ambiance. Probably the closest you could get to a 2D Dark Souls in 48 hours of dev time. The battle system is already pretty solid. You could easily expand this into a metroidvania or something similar. Add some bosses at the very least.

The Supper by jrhee 2015-09-08T01:55:00

This game had a really neat idea and nice visuals. The controls were a little weird to get used to, but otherwise pretty simple. Once I got a feel for the game, beating it was pretty easy. It fit the theme really well and had a really nice feel to it.

Werewolf Quest by Yrr 2015-08-30T22:46:00

The level design was totally spot-on, very few moments where I felt confused about what to do. The platforming was a little awkward, but wasn't too bad. Whoever made that castle must have been rich as hell in order to afford that silver flooring.

I had the linear filtering issue here as well, except I'm on Ubuntu running the exe with Wine so the issue is probably Wine.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

2 button metroidvania by JaJ 2015-12-19T23:14:00

Nice little Metroidvania.

The level design wasn't horrible except for that second enemy pit after getting autofire. I died 4 times before I even killed a single enemy. It also needs better indication that you need to explore at the ^^AS mark. Maybe just removing the mark altogether would do.

The Secret ending was cool, though if you had more time I feel like this is where you would've put a more difficult challenge.
