What is missing in this neice game is music and I think the controlls aren't thery smooth (because of firefox?)
The screen which shows up after ten seconds looks horrible, but nice idea. Score 56.
PS: With my touch screen, the game runs horrible and I can only acive a score of about 10.
I like this game, but its far too difficult for me. I played it for about 10 minutes (had school today and still have to do the homework:)). I'm not familar with unity so I don't know how difficult iit is to do such a game, but overall I like it because of the nice idea (as archaeometrican said).
Need more content. Although I like this game, I wouldn't rate it up because I could do this in 5 minutes (and you did most propery too)
PS: My Score is 1700.
Can you please provide a .zip file. I can't open the .rar.
I just googled a bit and it won't be possible to port that without using a Mac. I only have got a Windows PC, so I can't do it. Theoreically you could port it using the source I provided but I don't think you want to do that because that would be a huge effort. But nice that you are interested in my game.
@andreyin: I really don't know how that can happen. I have exactly the same system as you (win8 x64) and it runs fine. Please make sure you have got the file "Stage0.txt" in the same directory as the exe. If it still doesn't run, I don't know how to get it running:(
@doonay21: I hadn't time to add it (it was my first Ludum dare so I wasn't prepared good enough and I just ran out of time). For the same reaspn, I used text files. But you can edit them quite well when you activate the "overwrite"-mode. And, you can also create new stages named Stage2.txt etc. If you do so, you can send them to me per e-mail: jal(at)jalfm(dot)de
Isn't it possible to create a web version with unity quite easily?
Without the spoiler, it was really hard, but when I knew the word, I never lost (thanks to ten-finger-typing). I wish to have a "restart"-button (or is there any and I just didn't saw it?) because it disturbs always having to refresh the browser.
Really fun game with very professional graphics and actionfull gameplay.
Nice idea to combine a platformer with a story. I don't know if it was that I hadn't got any speakers avilable but I didn't understand how the game was based on the theme.
I personally don't like these quite high-res pixel-art, but as said that's my personal opinion.
I really like that game. I reached a score of 42 (yea!) on my laptop*. But some graphics rather than colored squares would be nice.
*It has a touch screen:)
Nice little game to waste time
Not sure what I did and how well I did, because the sense of the game didn't get very clear.
I clicked some buttons, something happened, but it was quite unexplaining. OK if you hadn't got time to create ingame-instructions, but put them in the description!
a good game with nice graphics and a good steering system
Wonderful game! I really liked the art style with this paper-like world.
In the read-me it says middle mouse button for character creating. Do you hate all people who use a touch pad? Why not use the right mouse button. Like this, i can only look at the map with its very nice ground texture
The music is coll and you can make a greate game of this
Nice game, really. But I hope you understand I can't really treat this as a game, don't you?
Very good game, you hits the bulls eye with the one time blinking and the graphics are like in old games and made with love
One of my favorites. Only the sound isn't matching to the rest of the game, but that doesn't change that it's a good game.
Nice graphics! I really like your pixel art!
Nice game, but too difficult for me...
Like these levels where you try to solve somethig and then you see - hey, there's another way, the first one was just to trick you. But the controls are kinda unflexible. WASD would be nice.
Don't know if it's because I'm too bad, but although the graphicsa are nice, the look doesn't have any variety.
Good game! I really like the animations. Only problem was that my mousepad disables when pressing any key. But still, I like dwarf fortress' slogan "loosing is fun!"
ZIP file doesn't open in firefox. Consider using dropbox or another web host.
Nice game! I only disliked that there is fewvariety so I quitted after the 3rd level
an nice little, that could be on nintendo and funny music and sounds
Really nice game, but the flickering of the light level really makes me a heddache and I don't understand, why this game is based on the theme.
Full stars in audio and graphics, pretty amazong. But everything else no stars because I just can't move the guy. But it's quize innovative:)
Nice game, but I didn't like the controls too much. Arrow up would be much more intuitive for jumping. But anyway, this game is very good.
Like that game. But graphics are a bit pixelish (not bad in general, but it doesn't look pixel-artish eigther but just rendered in low-resolution). Sound and music are nice, although i didn't make it through the second level
Yes, a nice idea, but are there graphics anywhere? Seems more like the result of the first tutorial of an OpenGL or DirectX tutorial. And the read square moves way too slow so it is very boring.
Why don't you use mono. Microsoft made this new OS called "Windows 8" and they decided to mob all the XNA devs by not supporting it any longer:)
Nice idea, but the graphics look very paint-drawn. All the other categories get high ratings.
Can't you somehow compile this? Would increase the number of ratings a lot.
Yes, the controls seem a bit weird. But after tryng out a bit, it's really nice. Graphics are nice, but there isn't a great variety (beach levels, river levels would have been interesting.)
Sorry, but somehow, I doesn't seem like I can change anything in that game: if I do something, the player junps, but if I do nothing, he does, too. I think stat's kinda boring :/
Doesn't run fluidly in firefox on my Samsung Ultrabook with its amazing Intel HD 4000 GPU:) But nice game, although the sound is a bit, uhh... monotone.
Good! Especially the graphics, which are purely awesome, and the music, whihc is only disturbed by the low-quality sounds
Quite nice game! I like the graphics, but I wish the controls were a bit easier to reach (e. g. WASD + Q + E)
Nice game! I especially like the audio. But as you said, it is definitvely hard to play on a laptop.
Wow! Quite difficult with a touchpade. But I like the water physics a lot anyway. Seems like that they are even dynamic. Graphics are simple, but not typical programmer pixel art (you know, using MS paint and the standard colors)
4 players and gamepads?! Most of the people participating are in the compo, so they are solo and few of them have 3 friends to call just to play one game. But the graphics look very promising!
I like the idea, but the page requires me to scroll. That's not good style. If you could condense the interface to match one page, that would be awesome. The game also lages terribly both im Firefox and Chrome.
Not too inovative, but fun anyway!
Challenging, but I like it anyways. Was a bit too easy to cheat by unzipping the JAR file and looking at *some* files, but anyways I like the game, especially the interpretation of the theme
Wonderful! If you do a post-compo version, could you please add keyboard controls? So 1, 2, 3 and 4 control the balls and you can rotate using e. g. A and D. Thad'd make it easier to control the island as it takes a lot of time (A lot of time = 1 second) to rotate the island.
Very nice game! IT's an interesting adaption of the theme and the game is very polished!
Very simple, but in my opinion a bit too simple (is there endles oxygene in that submarine?). Anyway, the music is awesome!
Anybody liking the graphics style: draw the image in any color over a transparent background, and then in GIMP: Filter->alpha to logo->neon.
I don't make it through the "need to reist my thughts" stage
Sorry, but seems pretty unplayable, because the fish glitches away very often.
Couldn't quite make sense of this game. But I like the adaption of the theme and the nice-looking graphics.
The idea isn't new, but I like that you can't only dig in four directions, but anywhere wou want. Only problem is that it runs horrible on my laptop. I don't think an Intel HD 4000 is made for gaming, but this game isn't very AAA and it really should run!
Controls are a bit glitchy, but the graphics are totally awesome! Pixel art in general is awesome, but there are some people who know how to put that pixels together to create something even more aweseome - and you are surely one of them.
Could you please add WASD controls? Otherwise, I can't play it on my laptop (because using the touchpad with your left hand - you don't really want to do that:)
Nice game! Interesting idea, and works rock-solid, without any game-stopping bugs.
I can't make much sense of this. Can you please create an explination and notify me (by writing a comment under my game)
Sorry, but I won't play ANY games that use comic sans!
Very simple (but therefore without many disturbing bugs) and the music is very good!
I like the idea and the game seems quite polished (there is even a ground), but the graphics should be overhauled
Could you please add a monogame version for Windows 8 players? If ou do so, please put a comment below my entry (and rate it, it your like it) so I can come back and play your game.
Nice idea combining a mining game with a top-down shooter! I also like the upgrading possibilities that make the game entertaining for a longer time.
For now, this is my favorite! I really like the idea (very unusual) and the game seems to work pretty fluent. I wish it supoorted touch input in desktop browsers (at least on my Win8 laptop using Firefox, that doesn't seem to work), but that's not very important. If you do a post-compo, I'd like to see a relaxed mode, which simply decreases the speed.
Difficult, but the graphics are awesome and the game seems quite polished (not like many other entries)
I like the idea of connecting two worlds and the story is short, but nice. It is a bit monotonous to always fight against the same creatures again, but, well, that's Ludum dare:)
I am currently working on fixing the crashing which seems to affect almost everyone (but unfortunately, not my own machine). Actually, I'm planning to just remove the audio and add it as another version. Thanks @dancingmad for providing the details on the error
Quite a nice game. It's clearly visible that Papers, Please was your main inspiration, but you succeed making it fun and original anyways.
I like the game, but it was a bit too difficult and i didn't make it very far. But that's propably my stupidity and not your bad game design (it's actually a really interesting idea and all game design decisions seem to be well-though)
Very nice game, I really like the soundtrack. Btw, I fixed my game, you can try it again and it should run fine
Amazing game! Can't believe you made that in 72 hours. The graphics are very polished
The hacking is a very nice idea (no, it's not inspired by Watch_dogs...) and thanks a lot for providing the details on the error in my game. I now have got a version which supports all machines up, so if you like, you can play my game now
Amazing graphics! The game looks so cute and the game is very fun, although sometimes a bit frustrating...
I liked the idea, it was pretty unique. The jumping could require some tuning, but otherwise, it's a nice game!
I really liked the game, especially the really nice graphics. The only thing I found very difficult were the controls: I don't own an xbox controller and the keys I had to use we're all over the keyboard. I think it would have been fairly straighforward to change them to something a little bit more accessible
Very cute graphics and the sounds are really immersing. I have to admit that the keyboard controls we're really hard to use and I personally do not own a controller, but the game was fun nonetheless.
Such polish! Much fun! Very wow!
I really like the idea and I think you implemented it quite well!
One of my favorites so far! I really like the look of the game and it seems quite polished. I'd like the camera to be refined a bit, but otherwise, it's really great!
This game is brilliant! It is built around such a simple mechanic, but you crafted a really nice, detailled world (I guess it was generated, but someone had to write the generator...) and the leveling mechanics make it possible to play the game for a longer time.
A very innovative way of killing enemies. I'd really like to see a post-compo version with more levels and more differnet graphics...
Great Visuals, but not really fun. After a bit more work on it, it can get a real great game!
love.dll and lua51.dll are both mission. Could you put them in a zip together with the .exe so I can enjoy this interesting-looking game? (I'd be thankful if you would comment under my game because it is easier to see the comment there for me)
Does nothing after opening the windows exe, which is a shame because the game looks really good.
I like the idea, but I think it needs a bit more polish, especially on the graphics.
Very nice game! I think this is one of the most innovative weapons made during this game... I have a similar complaint as Kihira: it seems to be impossible to destroy gun and rocket ships, they seem to need a lot of hits, but it seems to be very difficult to actually hit them. An indicator that you hit them and how much health the ships still have would be very nice!
Very nice idea... I had some problems gettings tarted, but after that, I really liked the game.
Quite a fun game! The graphics are really nice and the catchy music set me in the right mood.
It's amazing what you we're able to fit into the 44kb file. Sure, it's not the most complex game and the fonts are sometimes barely readable, but the satisfying death of all those zombies really makes up for that!
A very innovative game
Very nice game! At first, I thought: that's a really simple game; he did not put a lot of efford into it... Then, the later levels came, I was able to choose my preffered weapons, the enemies became more complex etc. If you would make a post-compo with improved graphics and some balancing, I'd play it for sure!
I like the idea, although the implementation seems rough at some edges...
I really liked the graphics! The controlls we're a bit weird because of the isometric perspective, but other than that, I liked the game. And by the way: Thank you for the feedback on our game, I think I managed to fix it and you can now enjoy the full game (not only the last bit)
The level generation is awesome:) I found it difficult to see where the enemy behind me was, but the shadows thrown on the wall infront of me made me feel really scared...
One of me most realistic simulators I played in quite some time:)
A really nice game! I have the feeling that the graphics are inspired by mirror's edge...
Nice game! The graphics are still a bit place-holder-like, but the game-play is quite fun (I played this game for longer than most of the other games). I am reminded of Mirror's Edge a bit...
Seems quite hard to me, but the idea is really nice (although my brains is telling me that physics don't work this way...)
I really liked this game! The concept id definitvely quite unique and the graphics are amazing. With some more time, you could make the controls a bit more intuitive, but other than that, the game was really nice!
I really liked the simplicity of both the gameplay and the art style. I wish that the game had used the two-button mechanic in the earlier levels because thosse we're essentially one-button games and not really challenging.
As some of the others, I had some problems understanding the games (especially the first one), but the game was really gorgeous and polished!
Interesting game, found some easter eggs.
I like the graphic design, but the hitbox sometimes felt a bit weird. You fitted the growing theme really good in your game.
Thsi game is really fun! It's also really nice that you were able to use both themes in such a nice way.
The slow pacing and the graphics were quite nice, but I could not really figure out what to do. I might be stupid but I did not find any trees.
Definitively a very innovative game that is also well-implemented!
Nice game, had a lot fun to play it.
I like the graphics style and gameplay and you sticked to the theme growing. Well done for only one weekend time.
The game looks quite ncie and is very relaxing. It took my some time to make it past th anglerfish, so I wish you had created some save system (because when the anglerfish eats you, you have to start all over again).
I really like the conecpt and while I am usually not a big fan of puzzle games, I enjoyed playing this one. I noticed that sometimes, the corners did not really react well (they did not follow the cursor), but it was only mildly annoying :)
This is a really simle game, but I still liked it. As the others have already siad, the camera is not really placed in a good way, but I still like the basic idea.
I am not a huge fan of puzzle games, but I really like the way you used these simple mechanics in creative ways to create a set of very varied levels.
The game also looks really cool and feels quite polished.
This game was really fun, although the controls sometimes felt unresponsive (I guess I was just not exactly hitting the beat, but it felt unfair) and I did not like that the game restarted completely each time. Apart form that though, it was a very nice game.
While the game felt a bit unfinished, the dirving was actually pretty good. The car felt just right on the sandy surface. Such a shame that you were not able to model the other cars.
This game was really hard, but also quite good. I only disliked the keyboard controls. I had to switch my keyboard layout to be able to use the brackets (on the german keyboard, they do not have their own keys). I think that q and e would be much better, but apart from that, the game was great.
Definitvely the best story I came across so far!
Took me some time to figure out, but it was absolutely amazing! The game is definitively very nice and while the game is quite simple, it is also very polished. Good job!
You don't see racing games often in Ludum Dare, so kudos for making one anyway. The cars (?) feel very floaty though and the game overall has an unfinished feel to it.
I really liked the idea of transforming into a bullet. The intro was also quite nice, especially because you managed to do this all in 48 hours. I think that the levels got hard a little too quick, but perhaps I am just not very good at this game...
I agree that the jumping is a bit unreliable. Does this have to do something with the physics that are applied to the player object? Apart from that, the game felt hard, but not in a bad way.
A nice idea. I especially liked the animation a lot! The voice was a bit too serious, although this might have been on purpose...
This looks really nice!
Neat game. I just wish that either the levels were a bit more compact or the camera a bit more zoomed-out, because it was a bit hard to get a good overview of the enmies in a room.
The restart button does not work for me... I had to reload the page each time to restart the game, which annoyed me after a few times, so I stoped playing (but I guess that it is probably an issue on my side...)
The art is absolutely gorgeous.
I think that I made quite a mess when the steaks flew all over the place...
Congrats on having something that you can play. I think that the characters are quite well-drawn. I'd add to the list of reccomendations that you should not stretch the pixel art the way you sometimes did because it makes everything look quite blurry...
I agree with the others that the game is a bit confusing, but it looks absolutely gorgeous!
Sorry, but it looks like you did not include the game in the folder.
