LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Gnomish Miners by nimblegorilla 2014-04-30T01:03:00

The graphics are nice and very smooth. The gameplay was fun, addicting, and sometimes mind-bending. Great job :D

Gold Diver by SirJson 2014-04-29T17:57:00

I feel like nuggets should give you more air, but other than that it's fun! A nice take on the classic digger game.

Splitted by CodeHat 2014-04-29T13:49:00

Pretty difficult! I can't say that I haven't seen this idea before, but I love the way it's executed :D

OMNOMNOM by brogrammers 2014-04-30T00:34:00

Very awesome game! Really cool art style and fun to play

Dowser (Lucy) by fluidvolt 2014-04-28T17:54:00

Nice, very simple game, I like the idea of games with minimal controls. I think the artstyle was perfect for a game like this. And I loved the music.

Nuclear Waste Zone by granut100 2014-04-29T01:50:00

I liked the idea of this game, although it had several issues that made it nearly unplayable:
1) Getting stuck in walls. You can fix this by checking each movement axis (x/y) individually (move the character along the x axis, then check for collisions, if there is a collision move them back to where they were on the x axis, then [regardless of whether or not the x hit something] do the same for the y axis)
2) Not being able to throw up or down (this, with the next issue, made it hard to hit bats)
3) Bats only move towards you in the x direction, then in the y. This made it hard to get around bats that were below or above you.

If you have any more questions (about the getting stuck in walls fix or otherwise) shoot me a message here or on Twitter @WhiteVoidia, I'd love to help.

Ultimate Underground Fridge Runner by randomdragoon 2014-04-30T00:44:00

Very silly game (pretty difficult too), glad to see you had fun :P

Sundiver by kmakai 2014-04-29T02:07:00

I really enjoy the visuals, and I like that getting hit had consequences beyond just losing health. I'm not entirely sure what was going on most of the time though :P The homing enemies are somewhat annoying, though

Deep Beneath by SuperIzzo 2014-04-28T11:11:00

Neat idea! The game had really cool atmosphere (the music really helped). I'm not a huge fan of the way the controls move, but I like how you control the group together. Cool game!

Beneath the surface by Norman12 2014-04-29T13:30:00

Movement was kind of annoying...but very meetboy-like and fun! (and hard!!)

I had issues running the .jar on Ubuntu 13.04, but when I ran it from the terminal it was fine.

Good job :D

Beneath by Stepperz 2014-04-29T16:05:00

I couldn't get the Linux download to work (on Ubuntu 13.10) but I just downloaded the .jar (OSX download) and it ran.

Once I got it running, I really enjoyed playing! I'm a huge fan of roguelikes and this was good fun. My biggest gripe was just that if you clicked when you were already walking, you had to wait to get to your first click before you would go to the second click (I would expect it to interrupt the walking and take you to the new destination).

I would like to see a bit more variety, but since there was limited time I think that gets a pass. Great game!

Unearth by Ben Whittaker 2014-04-30T00:56:00

Very neat concept, I would love to see this made into a full game (I love the art style that even such a basic test has begun to develop)

Everybody Gets One by DeathCamel57 2014-04-29T13:34:00

Linux link contains a .exe? I tried with wine but it didn't run.

Layered by Jessica Hayley 2014-04-30T00:50:00

Dev here: I have a question for everyone - In its current state, as you lose layers, you get less points (# of points you get per second is equal to the number of layers). Do you think this is necessary? Is the lesser protection enough to justify getting the same amount of points no matter how 'small' you are? Maybe the point value change should be adjusted? (Going from 8/sec to 4/sec instead of from 8/sec to 1/sec)

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts (I won't be adjusting these because the jam is over, I'm just wondering in case I pursue this game further).
Thanks! ^_^

Layered by Jessica Hayley 2014-05-01T02:10:00

@Miltage: Thanks for the feedback, and I completely agree with your point. I'll keep that in mind for future designs :)

@Everyone: Thanks for your kind words ^_^

Deepweb by alect 2014-04-30T01:19:00

Neat idea! Fun to play

Declivity by bushmango 2014-04-30T01:13:00

Very very silly and very very fun
Rest in piece all the cat-miners that I accidentally lazored ;_;

Sand Runner Arena by Sparrow 2014-04-30T00:41:00

Had some very tense moments, very fun :)

The Guy Who Fights Underground Monsters by Rusky 2014-04-30T01:08:00

Game does not run on 64-bit windows, a message box pops up with the following text:
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher"

Arctic Antics by Miltage 2014-05-01T02:13:00

So much fun! The whales always seemed to cut me off :P
The controls, music, and art style are perfect for this game.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Down The Rabbit Hole by cxsquared 2014-12-09T02:57:00

Very nice. The controls can be a bit grating at times (sometimes feels a bit too slow, and double jumping is finicky at best). Music is great. Very novel take on the theme. Very well done.

Dolly by Jessica Hayley 2014-12-09T03:33:00

@SpartanIceCream, we took the "screen" to be the actual camera view. If you fall off the "screen" then you die. Hence the taking place all on one screen. A bit of a stretch I know, but we wanted to do something different :P

@Everyone else: thank you so much! The physics are a bit wonky we know, we wanted to make it less sticky but couldn't get it in the time frame. If it makes you feel better, though, you can pretend it's a shoddily-implemented wall-grab mechanic.

Alchemist Tower by FatKarate 2014-12-09T03:23:00

Loved being able to hold something in each hand. Interesting idea, though I never felt like I was making any real progress. Nice job

Tenebris by SilentNight 2014-12-09T02:19:00

Very cool idea, well executed

OJiJi by Xorboo 2014-12-09T03:03:00

Very neat concept, not sure how it's "all on one screen though"

Louai Munajim by digibody 2014-12-09T02:24:00

This game controls really well, I wish I could've played more :)

Boost Boat Arena by Deft97 2014-12-09T02:43:00

Very interesting control scheme, difficult to control but definitely something I've never seen before.

Guadaneitor by sergi0vargas 2014-12-09T02:50:00

Very nice visuals, made it quite spooky. Gameplay was a bit difficult, but well done.

LonelyPlanet by jstzwd 2014-12-09T02:39:00

Very pretty, once I figured out the jumping it was fun too!

Perfect Mind by nekroadmin 2014-12-09T03:11:00

I watched the tutorial and still have no idea what to do. The game looks really really cool though!

Grandpa's Grid by NoGrapes 2014-12-09T02:15:00

I love the art style! This is tons of fun great job :D

[mεks] by spassfabrik 2014-12-09T02:33:00

Very cute

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

An Unconventional Sound by YSelf Tool 2015-05-02T14:29:00

Very very cool concept. I've found that it's pretty difficult to get to the top of the page though.

Phantom Run by Biliogadafr 2015-04-20T02:24:00

I enjoyed this! The AI was indeed a bit dim but it was definitely fun teleporting past enemies then hacking them. Cool concept. Nice ending too :P

The Pamphleteers by Move127 2015-04-20T02:38:00

Soooo many instructions! I made sure to read them all but once I got to the game I got pretty lost. Seems like a neat idea but yeah...pretty dense.

Wee Pon by DarkMeatGames 2015-04-20T02:54:00

I had so much fun with this! Such a cool mechanic with really neat puzzle interactions. Unfortunately when I got the star after going to the left in The Longest Road (I think that was it) I got an exception thrown and it stopped (http://i.imgur.com/g9vnks5.png). That was in the WebGL build.

Other than that, that was a lot of fun and I hope to see the mechanic explored further!

Internet Argument Simulator by Jessica Hayley 2015-04-20T02:32:00

@Ovidios: I didn't put enough effort into making it ramp up logically, so right now people only become more angry based on time

@DarkMeatGames: Thanks for the feedback! I wonder if people would still play if we made it so people actually posted the things that they say in-game on their Twitter :D

Internet Argument Simulator by Jessica Hayley 2015-04-20T02:40:00

@winmac32 yeah I tried to make it as robust as I could within such a short time frame. I ended up having major swears, minor swears, and negative words that all combine into an overall score level for the text. But it's almost impossible to define all of the negative things that could be said. I would've gone into linguistic analysis if I had time, heh :P

Block Trail by Thor7791 2015-04-25T14:28:00

I'm getting a 404 on the windows dropbox link

Game 404 by Javabot 2015-04-29T15:35:00

This could be a cool puzzle game if continued. Very good start.

Dubstep Gun: The Game by WaffleWorks 2015-04-20T02:20:00

Neat concept, I think if it were a bit more difficult it would actually be more fun. As it stands it's a bit trivial.

Agent Of Souls by Norbex 2015-04-20T01:51:00

This is a really fun mechanic! The walls being a bit sticky drew me out of the experience a bit but it was still fun.

Gravity-Gun by pianoman373 2015-04-20T01:55:00

I am on Windows 7 and when I run the .jar I get an error "A Java Exception has occurred"

Also, the Web link points to the same as the downloadable ones, when it should instead point to a web page where the game is embedded.

Hopefully I'll be able to play it soon!

Card Maniac by snade 2015-04-20T15:14:00

It's very satisfying to stick the cards in the walls, heh

LD33 — You are the Monster

The Creature from East Second Street by emmelineprufrock 2015-08-28T13:24:00

This is so cute I love it :D

It did a good job of building the tone and I felt bad when I turned her to goo :(

I'd love to see more like this!

LD35 — Shapeshift

Flutterby by BrianSChung 2016-04-20T23:16:00

Wow, I wasn't expecting such a poignant experience. Thank you for making this

UPSHIFT by Jessica Hayley 2016-04-19T22:29:00

Thank you so much everyone for playing and your comments! We definitely hear you about the keypress window needing to be a little more forgiving -- we really wish we had more time to polish that during the jam.

Also, if you enjoyed the music you can hear to the full version here: https://radicaldreamland.bandcamp.com/album/upshift

Thanks again <3

Polyblob Bob by unnamed1334 2016-04-18T21:44:00

Very cool mechanic! I'd love to see this explored more

A Fox's Escape by Pusty 2016-04-18T21:23:00

Love the artstyle :)
