LD23 — Tiny World

Virus Leak by ionas619 2012-05-13T17:36:00

Nice game, just short.

Flea Circus by robbiehunt 2012-05-05T23:48:00

Really nice, fine music & mood

Something Movable by YSelf Tool 2012-04-24T21:06:00

john:
Thank you :)
"BTW: are those levels just generating randomly? It seemed like they were changing between each spawn"
Yes, the levels are generated completely random and there is always a new level when you die. I just like random levels :)
btw: Your pro tip is right, it is the best way to win ;)

Naouak:

Some of the items you get at the end of levels change your speed/jump height.

Something Movable by YSelf Tool 2012-04-25T21:41:00

danlthemanl:
Yes, that bug is the most annoying one. The problem is my collision test. Always try to land at the top and will not hear it :)

KungPhoo:
Some file has to be missing, but I don't know which :(

Luke:
I thought about implementing more cameras or a wider angle/bigger distance, but this way I always ran through the levels :) This way you never know where you will arrive.

Something Movable by YSelf Tool 2012-04-28T10:46:00

Jungorend:
Not only the camera, if you already move and then jump you are somehow... faster.
Walljumps are not easy because the game does not differentiate between normal jumps and wall jumps.

Something Movable by YSelf Tool 2012-05-13T21:20:00

So... next time in WinPhone-Mode / not in C# / not on Windows? Sorry, I like Windows & XNA. OpenGL/Java might be an alternative, but I will not use HTML 5.

Kamikaze Planet by Monomer 2012-04-24T20:41:00

Oh, retro ftw!

Ship in a Bottle by pstalcup 2012-04-27T19:06:00

Nice idea, at the beginning I shot too much :)

LHC by Datw 2012-05-08T18:19:00

Not bad, but a little bit boring after a while.

Tiny Defense by Jim Haslett 2012-04-24T21:17:00

Good job, but lacking sound/music.

Ethereal Isles by Izzimach 2012-04-29T10:49:00

Like the graphics, (Cel Shading!), but the gameplay is a little bit small. Set monsters and watch them running - and then?

Intergalactic Curling League by Steve Cochrane 2012-04-24T21:01:00

My favorite game up to now!
Really good idea, good gameplay, I cannot stop playing!

Tiny Card World by Pisti 2012-05-13T21:18:00

Ah, like it really much! Thanks for this! The only one i saw of this type, really enjoyable!

Tiny Planet by fingerflinger 2012-04-29T11:05:00

Astrosurf by Jimjam 2012-04-24T21:25:00

Falling of the edge is a strange idea, but I like the game :)

Blue's World by matt9837 2012-04-22T20:32:00

Nice game, fun to play. I just miss music/sounds and more levels :)
Needed to turn of the antivirus-program to play it, hope you did not include any virus ;)

Petri-Dish Survival by Rex Peppers 2012-04-24T20:12:00

That's _really_ hard.

Chemistry and atoms, nice game, just sometimes...

Hopeless by DragonSix 2012-04-22T20:46:00

Strange. But... Gameplay? Nice idea, but is this a game?

btw: cool graphics

Super Shotgun Showdown by danlthemanl 2012-04-24T20:27:00

Like that game, just hard to hit them.
The best thing was definitely the music!
Thanks for that game!

Nice game :) I always die.. need to get better!

Atomic Bug by zairon 2012-04-27T17:37:00

Really good idea, but absolutely not complete (lacking gameplay) and lacking music. Please continue with this game idea!

Kid's Wars by iFred_QC 2012-04-26T17:50:00

Good game, but no music, really loud sounds, easy-to-win, no tactics, just spamming units is enough

The Last Colony by Wyzfen 2012-04-24T21:22:00

Nice game, good idea (3d tower defense), fun to play, just lacking music/sound :)

LD24 — Evolution

FronSkratx by muh_h 2012-09-07T23:40:00

Yeah! Really good game!
And hard like hell... I got two times music :)
At the beginning I thought "aha, no sound, no music, bad graphics", but an envolving game ... really well done!
It looks good, sounds good enough, and the gameplay is the best thing!

Invaders: Evolution by vilya 2012-08-30T21:36:00

I've lost... as everybody should do in a good ldgame.
Great retro graphics, nice dialogues, hard to play, good controls (as known since many years), great game!
Some sounds/music would be nice, but is not really needed.

Sweet Argon by dhasenan 2012-08-26T20:46:00

Not, it does not suck at all.
Nice idea, not bad to play, but not a complete game, that's true.

DeviLock by Misfit 2012-08-26T21:07:00

Cool game!
Hard, but nice to play!
HTML5 version does not work (keeps being black/using FF), but Windows works fine.

AInts vs Robots by YSelf Tool 2012-08-27T16:18:00

"You should have done some performance optimizations. It's very slow. I have no more then one frame per three seconds.
My computer is not that bad..."

The computers are not the problem, my code is it. I have optimized some parts already, but it did not become faster.

I am taking look at it atm, the ants are definitely the problem, not graphics or robots (without ants it runs fine, with ants but without ant-drawing not fine).

AInts vs Robots by YSelf Tool 2012-08-27T17:29:00

Found the bug, was (as always) really stupid...
(spawned not one, but an infinite amount of ants).
Some other optimizations too, update will follow soon.

AInts vs Robots by YSelf Tool 2012-08-29T15:13:00

The game seems to be a little bit too difficult atm, now that the ants spawn in huge amounts.

Your goal is to kill all of them, and sorry, I did not have the time for good controls.

AInts vs Robots by YSelf Tool 2012-08-31T18:45:00

Yes, I really want to keep this project running and am already working on a post-ld version. Controls and GUI is what I really want to change nearly completely, the current are far to complex (and not what I wanted them to be).
@DaveDobson: It was inconvenient to create the models, currently I am working on a blender export script.

Fend off waves of zombies with your evolving gun DELUXE by Ezzam 2012-09-06T18:06:00

That game is addicting!
Ok, the graphics are kinda retro, but really good.
The sound... there is some, and that's enough.
The gameplay is not new (and once I buy a weapon I die), but addicting.
The installer does not work (as always with ClickOnce), but compiling the source is no problem (XNA ftw!).
The controls are crappy (left hand on the right side, Right hand on the mouse), but changing the source of this part is not problem in VS.
I always die (You've been killed by: a green square.), but that's _fun_!
At the beginning the countdown is too long, at the end it makes it hard to survive (did I say I always die?).
Really nice game!

Tonality by hgcummings 2012-09-02T00:58:00

Fun to play, good graphics, but very well used sound, nice and easy to use gui, creative interpretation of the theme:
Good job!

Evolution Game by legionth by legionth 2012-08-29T20:20:00

Far to easy.
Graphics not smooth.

And in the menu you forgot that the user can change the window size ;|

Gene Jumble by ae12687 2012-09-08T11:02:00

A little bit boring... and it's hard to understand the controls (even if you can).

You Made them! by garygreen 2012-09-04T22:01:00

I did not really understand what's the matter of this game, why I am playing it and what to do.
I thought I should not hit the rock, but when I did nothing bad happened, so...

Kitten Farts by scoots 2012-08-30T21:49:00

It's to easy, even if I have not won.
Graphics seem not to be ready, or at least there could be more animations.

Eggplant farm by mokujin 2012-08-28T20:51:00

It's hard (like a LD game should be), it's fun, as every game should be, and it is evolution, as each LD24 game should be!
But we do not need the full prologue story, and the controls are a bit strange (I cannot really move to the middle when the circle is nearing to the border of the game/the browser window).

Vessolution by NedortGames 2012-09-02T00:26:00

It is a good game as far as it has graphics, gameplay, controls, music and it's hard enough.
But it's a little short (once learned kinda easy) and the theme is except from the title not existing, because velocity, controls, music - short: everything - keeps the same (ok, some graphics change).
The error of LD23 does not matter, and it's still fun to play! Keep on going, games are fun!

Ballvolution by cardeck 2012-09-02T00:46:00

I like the game!
Overall it's well done, the idea is not used a thousand times, it's fun and looks not bad.
Small things like the changing color of the ball are what differentiate good games from really good games.
Not that good:
The graphics: Huge balls are clearly polygons (don't know if it's your "fault" or done by unity), and the background ends at some point, there is just blue color. Instead you could draw your background as often as needed (depending on the camera position).
And gameplay: The bigger the ball, the slower it seems to be. At the end I was eaten by a ball far bigger than mine (I had 112 mass), and both balls could not really move, but it grew more than I, so it ate me. Higher velocity with higher mass would be nice, since it's not really much to play at the end.
But I really like the idea, it's fun to play and looks good!

Swarm by Will Xyen 2012-08-27T20:47:00

A nice game, kinda fun, but a really annoying gui.

Cellulae by mariscal 2012-09-07T16:30:00

Everything is there, a concept, graphics, sound/music, interface, splash screen, everything good, but none of the exciting.
There is one music loop, the concept is like in some other games (but kinda better), I like that bigger circles get slower, but it's nothing new.

Disgruntled Paddles VERSUS Evolution by djtjj 2012-08-29T17:46:00

Nice retro game, as hard as needed.
At the beginning it is strange to use the menu just with the keyboard and play the game with the mouse, but that does not matter.

Primeval Labs by BMacIntosh 2012-09-08T21:05:00

Good art, enough sound, witty humor, and BULLETS!

Super-Human by talhakaya 2012-08-26T20:49:00

"Walala" is not a real shooting sound, but a nice game!

Entourage by jprogman 2012-08-27T20:36:00

Really good idea, but nearly unable to play.
With at least 5 creatures of each kind it is not possible to program each single one of them alone.
But if you change that, the game can be really great!

Hungry Flies by renatopp 2012-08-27T21:47:00

Nice minigame!
Not a new idea, but the different beahviour of the flies is a fine idea!
Fun to play!

Cave of Hungry Alien by ilijabc 2012-08-26T21:29:00

Nice physics!
And surprising ending!
Good game!

Kitten Evolution by triplefox 2012-09-16T16:26:00

Not bad, but jam.

Star Explorers of the United Nations by chardish 2012-09-02T01:10:00

Great work!
Well known gameplay type, but perfectly evolved to this game!
The graphics are good retro style, the music and the sounds are nice to hear and top the game, but the gameplay with it's evolving creatures and the evolving ship is really great.
At the end (I had just beta ones from wave 2 on) it was like someone throws very fast canonballs around your head, there was no time to react, but to go left-right-left- etc.
Great job!

A Long Road to Happiness by Wish I Was an Astronaut 2012-08-29T18:01:00

A really great game, the best so far (for me).
Great graphics, music, hard, clever levels and humorous signs.
Awesome job, well done! That's five stars!

Homo Vermes by madflame991 2012-08-26T21:01:00

Nice game, but at the beginning hard to understand.

Monkeyectomy by iximeow 2012-09-07T23:45:00

Kinda boring.

Darwin's Apple by demonpants 2012-09-06T22:15:00

It works, but it's hard to control and kinda not that fun to play, but nonetheless a fun thing.

Biotic by aeonofdiscord 2012-08-26T21:36:00

Strange, but full points for topic.

Universal Adaptors! by yanmania 2012-08-28T20:44:00

I am a homo erectus now, but I have taken the lower left dna as the last one. No I am stuck. Nice game!

Universal Adaptors! by yanmania 2012-08-28T20:45:00

Nice, but as a homo erectus I was stuck.

AntZ Evolution by thesentinelcat 2012-08-27T21:41:00

Hard to understand what to do, not really fun then. But a nice simulation!

SPECIES by alwaysinbeta 2012-09-02T00:49:00

Not bad, but not as solid as a jump&run-shooter should be. It's easy to get stuck in a wall/the ground, but nonetheless fun to play and as hard as it should be!

LD26 — Minimalism

Exploid by Quarry 2013-04-29T13:44:00

Music/Sounds would be great. Works (with up arrow, space was not accurate enough), but a higher display would be great, because the time is often too short to get your bananas.

Go Get Em by CrazyGage 2013-05-13T22:36:00

Complex. At the end I have seen some repeating patterns. Interesting.

INO by Nikich 2013-04-29T13:37:00

Sounds would be great, the controls are to hard (they are rotated 45 degrees) and it's way to hard.

Defense of the corrupted Pixels by YSelf Tool 2013-04-29T12:48:00

Growing Energy by scorder 2013-05-13T22:49:00

I have no idea what to do. Too complex. I play it, but do not know what I am actually doing.

*Humorous Title!* by Graf_Grun 2013-05-16T11:05:00

Needed some time to realize I have to go through the structures, not around them. Pretty game, but sometimes I die without knowing why (I was in front of the holes).

Line by San 2013-04-29T10:26:00

That's a great game! Fun, good sounds (they make a kind of music), good graphics (except for the main character - he seems to be running backwards). And minimalistic.

We Call it Tactics by the31 2013-04-29T13:57:00

Music would be great. A method to get new units would be great. That said: fun game! There are too few RTS at LD.

Time of Wheels by Doccrazy 2013-04-29T12:34:00

Hard... but possible. Love it!
Needed some time to find "L....D..." ;)

Angry Ball by veskimo 2013-04-29T00:13:00

Good idea, but a random order / randomly selected words from your dictionary would be much better. This way it becomes very boring.
I have no problem with writing the words, but it's much to hard to press Enter at the right moment and for enough time.

Blank Slate by AestheticGamer 2013-04-30T13:19:00

Huh, the file size is not so minimalistic, is it?

Lunarium by Alprog 2013-05-13T22:13:00

Not fun. Much too slow.

1951 by Andrei Barsan 2013-04-29T11:18:00

Sounds and music would be nice, gameplay is good.

Minnie & Mal by Kharza 2013-05-13T22:45:00

Good graphics, but gameplay... That's what happens when you make good graphics at LD.

Brave Warrior by My Milked Eek 2013-05-13T22:22:00

You have to wipe right in front of your unit to attack, not a perfect solution on tablets (I played it on a Nexus 7). Tapping/Wiping detection would be fine.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Thermonuclear Mutant Bunker Survival by YSelf Tool 2014-05-01T12:38:00

The ammo is finite, as you noticed: Every shot needs one ammo, every hit gives you one. The ammo-display in the lower right is growing with the square of the ammo you have left, so as long as you have enough it does not seem to change a lot.

Yes, going beyond level one is possible, and it's only 50 hits for each level. I agree that the first level is a little bit slow, but there are more and faster enemies with each level.
The interesting moving enemies come in waves, according to where in the current level you are.

Dig Beneath The Surface by ItsSacraficed 2014-05-01T12:43:00

The game crashes when you try to move beyond the screen border.

Insane Grandpa by jahlgren 2014-04-28T16:27:00

It's frustrating to die and die and die again and again.

Insane Grandpa by jahlgren 2014-04-28T16:34:00

Learning that you can't just move but also jump was a key information. Room 666 was my end nonetheless.

Insane Grandpa by jahlgren 2014-04-28T16:36:00

Very hard, while playing (maybe the end makes that different) the theme is not present in any way. You should write that one can jump with the upper arrow.

Light Eater by Cawrtz 2014-04-29T20:09:00

The graphics are great (particle effects!), it's simple and fun, neither easy nor too hard, modern HTML5/JS, and the intro is fun. Great job!

A Lava Quest by vogon101 2014-05-01T00:47:00

Good ideas, graphics, etc, working fine, just the game mechanics could be better.

MINER ESCAPE!! by NickRock 2014-05-01T00:50:00

I like that the upper and the lowert end are connected, but sometimes the hitboxes seem to be too large.

Enester, an unexpected Journey by sroelandt 2014-05-01T13:04:00

Fun! And there texts are good, just some (death messages ;) ) repeating. But (especially at the beginning) the player is running too fast to read all of them.

async by remmy 2014-04-29T20:19:00

Hard... fun... Jumping at the right moments isn't enough, speed is also needed. Very good implementation of the theme.

Good ending.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Shared World by YSelf Tool 2014-08-25T15:27:00

The problem is that the server is crashing to often. I can stabilize it by catching more exceptions, but the core problem of crahsing sockets is a problem of python, I fear I can't fix that. Maybe I could restart sockets when they crash, but I'd need to rewrite huge parts of the network stuff.

Shared World by YSelf Tool 2014-08-31T23:52:00

Yes, as you saw, the server is down, since I can't keep it up. Making it stupid and simple is not an option since a lot of the logic (> 50%) is server side.
I've made a small script that restarts the server. That's far from an ideal solution, but should make the game at least a little bit playable (which is better than a gray screen).
The link to the script is:
http://tooldev.de/ld/30/restart.php
Please call (and only call) this script when you need to restart the server.

Wifimon by Morusque 2014-08-29T20:38:00

The healing mechanic is great. The catching not, it always just said "timed out". The fights are boring, since I always just kill the other Wifimon.
But a great idea non the less!

Wifimon by Morusque 2014-08-29T20:39:00

The seems to be a bug when healing. It's not dangerous since it's only graphical:
The signal strength bar sometimes switches side and goes upwards through the text.

I did not have the patience to find anything (except for some square stuff), but I like the music, the walking animation, the idea, etc.

A Planetary Guide by Alexander 2014-08-29T20:46:00

All That is Under the Air by NeskcirE 2014-08-29T20:55:00

Kind of a walking simulator, but the jumping in the later part makes it more than reading. Deep story (or something like that, it's definitely a story).

All That is Under the Air by NeskcirE 2014-08-29T20:56:00

Sometimes when jumping against blocks I get set atop them. Bug?

zombies you Going down by joylessSnake 2014-08-29T20:28:00

First: Installing. Doesn't Gamemaker allow for a simpler way to distribute the game? If not, well, it's ok, but a simple executable (or even a web version!) would be really nice.
To the game: The enemies are slow. That's ok, not every game needs to be you-gonna-die-hard.
The projectile is slow. That's good. There's only one... that's a mechanic, prevents bullet spam, so it's ok too, but seems strange at the beginning.
There seem to be two levels and I came to the second one by going to the cake (?), but in the second one there was no cake, that surprised me.
You can get stuck in walls, that's bad.

Holiday Nightmare by KingBolonzo 2014-08-29T20:22:00

Controls are confusing, standard would be that the forward arrow moves you in the direction you are pointing, not directly upwards.
The possibility to walk out of the visible area is confusing.
The projectiles are fast and appear late on the screen, displaying just a small area.
I like the graphics.
The music in very repititive, but that's ok and better than no music.
