Nice game, just short.

Nice game, just short.
Really nice, fine music & mood
john:
Thank you :)
"BTW: are those levels just generating randomly? It seemed like they were changing between each spawn"
Yes, the levels are generated completely random and there is always a new level when you die. I just like random levels :)
btw: Your pro tip is right, it is the best way to win ;)
Naouak:
Some of the items you get at the end of levels change your speed/jump height.
danlthemanl:
Yes, that bug is the most annoying one. The problem is my collision test. Always try to land at the top and will not hear it :)
KungPhoo:
Some file has to be missing, but I don't know which :(
Luke:
I thought about implementing more cameras or a wider angle/bigger distance, but this way I always ran through the levels :) This way you never know where you will arrive.
Jungorend:
Not only the camera, if you already move and then jump you are somehow... faster.
Walljumps are not easy because the game does not differentiate between normal jumps and wall jumps.
So... next time in WinPhone-Mode / not in C# / not on Windows? Sorry, I like Windows & XNA. OpenGL/Java might be an alternative, but I will not use HTML 5.
Oh, retro ftw!
Nice idea, at the beginning I shot too much :)
Good job, but lacking sound/music.
Like the graphics, (Cel Shading!), but the gameplay is a little bit small. Set monsters and watch them running - and then?
My favorite game up to now!
Really good idea, good gameplay, I cannot stop playing!
Ah, like it really much! Thanks for this! The only one i saw of this type, really enjoyable!
Yay! Black/White graphics!
Can't stop playing!
Nice game, fun to play. I just miss music/sounds and more levels :)
Needed to turn of the antivirus-program to play it, hope you did not include any virus ;)
That's _really_ hard.
Like that game, just hard to hit them.
The best thing was definitely the music!
Thanks for that game!
Nice game :) I always die.. need to get better!
Really good idea, but absolutely not complete (lacking gameplay) and lacking music. Please continue with this game idea!
Good game, but no music, really loud sounds, easy-to-win, no tactics, just spamming units is enough
Great idea! But my eyes...
Nice game, good idea (3d tower defense), fun to play, just lacking music/sound :)
Yeah! Really good game!
And hard like hell... I got two times music :)
At the beginning I thought "aha, no sound, no music, bad graphics", but an envolving game ... really well done!
It looks good, sounds good enough, and the gameplay is the best thing!
I've lost... as everybody should do in a good ldgame.
Great retro graphics, nice dialogues, hard to play, good controls (as known since many years), great game!
Some sounds/music would be nice, but is not really needed.
Not, it does not suck at all.
Nice idea, not bad to play, but not a complete game, that's true.
"You should have done some performance optimizations. It's very slow. I have no more then one frame per three seconds.
My computer is not that bad..."
The computers are not the problem, my code is it. I have optimized some parts already, but it did not become faster.
I am taking look at it atm, the ants are definitely the problem, not graphics or robots (without ants it runs fine, with ants but without ant-drawing not fine).
Found the bug, was (as always) really stupid...
(spawned not one, but an infinite amount of ants).
Some other optimizations too, update will follow soon.
The game seems to be a little bit too difficult atm, now that the ants spawn in huge amounts.
Your goal is to kill all of them, and sorry, I did not have the time for good controls.
Yes, I really want to keep this project running and am already working on a post-ld version. Controls and GUI is what I really want to change nearly completely, the current are far to complex (and not what I wanted them to be).
@DaveDobson: It was inconvenient to create the models, currently I am working on a blender export script.
That game is addicting!
Ok, the graphics are kinda retro, but really good.
The sound... there is some, and that's enough.
The gameplay is not new (and once I buy a weapon I die), but addicting.
The installer does not work (as always with ClickOnce), but compiling the source is no problem (XNA ftw!).
The controls are crappy (left hand on the right side, Right hand on the mouse), but changing the source of this part is not problem in VS.
I always die (You've been killed by: a green square.), but that's _fun_!
At the beginning the countdown is too long, at the end it makes it hard to survive (did I say I always die?).
Really nice game!
Fun to play, good graphics, but very well used sound, nice and easy to use gui, creative interpretation of the theme:
Good job!
Far to easy.
Graphics not smooth.
And in the menu you forgot that the user can change the window size ;|
A little bit boring... and it's hard to understand the controls (even if you can).
I did not really understand what's the matter of this game, why I am playing it and what to do.
I thought I should not hit the rock, but when I did nothing bad happened, so...
It's to easy, even if I have not won.
Graphics seem not to be ready, or at least there could be more animations.
It's hard (like a LD game should be), it's fun, as every game should be, and it is evolution, as each LD24 game should be!
But we do not need the full prologue story, and the controls are a bit strange (I cannot really move to the middle when the circle is nearing to the border of the game/the browser window).
It is a good game as far as it has graphics, gameplay, controls, music and it's hard enough.
But it's a little short (once learned kinda easy) and the theme is except from the title not existing, because velocity, controls, music - short: everything - keeps the same (ok, some graphics change).
The error of LD23 does not matter, and it's still fun to play! Keep on going, games are fun!
I like the game!
Overall it's well done, the idea is not used a thousand times, it's fun and looks not bad.
Small things like the changing color of the ball are what differentiate good games from really good games.
Not that good:
The graphics: Huge balls are clearly polygons (don't know if it's your "fault" or done by unity), and the background ends at some point, there is just blue color. Instead you could draw your background as often as needed (depending on the camera position).
And gameplay: The bigger the ball, the slower it seems to be. At the end I was eaten by a ball far bigger than mine (I had 112 mass), and both balls could not really move, but it grew more than I, so it ate me. Higher velocity with higher mass would be nice, since it's not really much to play at the end.
But I really like the idea, it's fun to play and looks good!
Everything is there, a concept, graphics, sound/music, interface, splash screen, everything good, but none of the exciting.
There is one music loop, the concept is like in some other games (but kinda better), I like that bigger circles get slower, but it's nothing new.
Nice retro game, as hard as needed.
At the beginning it is strange to use the menu just with the keyboard and play the game with the mouse, but that does not matter.
Good art, enough sound, witty humor, and BULLETS!
"Walala" is not a real shooting sound, but a nice game!
Nice minigame!
Not a new idea, but the different beahviour of the flies is a fine idea!
Fun to play!
Unfortunately unable to start (OS: Windows).
Nice physics!
And surprising ending!
Good game!
Not bad, but jam.
Great work!
Well known gameplay type, but perfectly evolved to this game!
The graphics are good retro style, the music and the sounds are nice to hear and top the game, but the gameplay with it's evolving creatures and the evolving ship is really great.
At the end (I had just beta ones from wave 2 on) it was like someone throws very fast canonballs around your head, there was no time to react, but to go left-right-left- etc.
Great job!
A really great game, the best so far (for me).
Great graphics, music, hard, clever levels and humorous signs.
Awesome job, well done! That's five stars!
Nice game, but at the beginning hard to understand.
Kinda boring.
It works, but it's hard to control and kinda not that fun to play, but nonetheless a fun thing.
Strange, but full points for topic.
I am a homo erectus now, but I have taken the lower left dna as the last one. No I am stuck. Nice game!
Nice, but as a homo erectus I was stuck.
Hard to understand what to do, not really fun then. But a nice simulation!
Not bad, but not as solid as a jump&run-shooter should be. It's easy to get stuck in a wall/the ground, but nonetheless fun to play and as hard as it should be!
The 72h version (since this is a jam entry I think I max post one) contains a tutorial level (and the campaign is possible to beat now).
*may
@paulopn They don't kill themselves - they merge and become stronger.
Wow, that's fun! And good music btw
I have no idea what to do. Too complex. I play it, but do not know what I am actually doing.
Needed some time to realize I have to go through the structures, not around them. Pretty game, but sometimes I die without knowing why (I was in front of the holes).
Music would be great. A method to get new units would be great. That said: fun game! There are too few RTS at LD.
Hard... but possible. Love it!
Needed some time to find "L....D..." ;)
Good idea, but a random order / randomly selected words from your dictionary would be much better. This way it becomes very boring.
I have no problem with writing the words, but it's much to hard to press Enter at the right moment and for enough time.
Huh, the file size is not so minimalistic, is it?
Except for the red ones the enemies are no problem.
Hard... Yey!
HTML5... Yey!
Random maps and sounds would be nice.
Not fun. Much too slow.
Sounds and music would be nice, gameplay is good.
Good graphics, but gameplay... That's what happens when you make good graphics at LD.
You have to wipe right in front of your unit to attack, not a perfect solution on tablets (I played it on a Nexus 7). Tapping/Wiping detection would be fine.
Noone killed me after loosing my left button.
The ammo is finite, as you noticed: Every shot needs one ammo, every hit gives you one. The ammo-display in the lower right is growing with the square of the ammo you have left, so as long as you have enough it does not seem to change a lot.
Yes, going beyond level one is possible, and it's only 50 hits for each level. I agree that the first level is a little bit slow, but there are more and faster enemies with each level.
The interesting moving enemies come in waves, according to where in the current level you are.
The game crashes when you try to move beyond the screen border.
It's frustrating to die and die and die again and again.
Learning that you can't just move but also jump was a key information. Room 666 was my end nonetheless.
Very hard, while playing (maybe the end makes that different) the theme is not present in any way. You should write that one can jump with the upper arrow.
I died and nothing happened.
Fun!
Lovely game! Even if I never managed to build a rocket launcher.
The graphics are great (particle effects!), it's simple and fun, neither easy nor too hard, modern HTML5/JS, and the intro is fun. Great job!
Good ideas, graphics, etc, working fine, just the game mechanics could be better.
I like that the upper and the lowert end are connected, but sometimes the hitboxes seem to be too large.
Fun! And there texts are good, just some (death messages ;) ) repeating. But (especially at the beginning) the player is running too fast to read all of them.
Could you publish a Linux version? I think Game Maker should be capable of doing that.
5 5 1 seemed to work well, then I was bankrupt.
Knowing it's sellers, miners, scientists was useful.
Fine game, just telling which one is which at the beginning would be great.
Good ending.
Like Rikard said, The MS Visual C++ Runtime is missing.
The problem is that the server is crashing to often. I can stabilize it by catching more exceptions, but the core problem of crahsing sockets is a problem of python, I fear I can't fix that. Maybe I could restart sockets when they crash, but I'd need to rewrite huge parts of the network stuff.
Yes, as you saw, the server is down, since I can't keep it up. Making it stupid and simple is not an option since a lot of the logic (> 50%) is server side.
I've made a small script that restarts the server. That's far from an ideal solution, but should make the game at least a little bit playable (which is better than a gray screen).
The link to the script is:
http://tooldev.de/ld/30/restart.php
Please call (and only call) this script when you need to restart the server.
Bug: In the saturn part (riddle 2) you can jump on the roof of the building you start in, seeing your planettextures.
Great! Great! Rhythm and rhyme, planets and pluto. Best game so far!
Kind of a walking simulator, but the jumping in the later part makes it more than reading. Deep story (or something like that, it's definitely a story).
Sometimes when jumping against blocks I get set atop them. Bug?
First: Installing. Doesn't Gamemaker allow for a simpler way to distribute the game? If not, well, it's ok, but a simple executable (or even a web version!) would be really nice.
To the game: The enemies are slow. That's ok, not every game needs to be you-gonna-die-hard.
The projectile is slow. That's good. There's only one... that's a mechanic, prevents bullet spam, so it's ok too, but seems strange at the beginning.
There seem to be two levels and I came to the second one by going to the cake (?), but in the second one there was no cake, that surprised me.
You can get stuck in walls, that's bad.
Controls are confusing, standard would be that the forward arrow moves you in the direction you are pointing, not directly upwards.
The possibility to walk out of the visible area is confusing.
The projectiles are fast and appear late on the screen, displaying just a small area.
I like the graphics.
The music in very repititive, but that's ok and better than no music.
Great!
The controls are a little bit slow.
Could you add Z as an alternative to Y so QWERTZ-keyboards work better? Thanks!
