Slugs keep dying at alarming pace, nigh impossible to play.
Would've probably worked out better being turn-based, by the time I manage to select 2 slugs at-least one's dead already.

I thought I was the only crazy one who thought of crazy evolving pong game!
Very fun, but very short! Lot's of potential, I'd love to see a longer post LD version some day.
Opens but freezes or crashes after a few seconds.

The idea is great, but difficulty makes this nigh unplayable.
Second level was physically impossible for me to complete.
@L I'm not quite sure yet (I have no way to test this), but from what I've found the error your getting is associated with an out of date version of java. If you could update to version 7 / are already there I'd like to know

OK, I've recompiled against java 1.6 (links are now updated for all platforms)

Thanks, I ran out of time before I managed to balance the bricks at all, If I ever do a "post-LD" revision that'll probably be the first thing I do.

What OS are you using? (if windows) have you tried the version labeled 1.6?

I'm taking all this to heart, I already have a significantly updated version of DPVE on my PC right now, and I'll post it sometime in the future in the LD journal, I just don't want it tainting anyone's opinion of my entry.
Winrar should have no trouble opening the 7zip files.
I'm a big fan of the game of life, so I was familiar enough with the mechanics to actually work this. It's fun but it could've used an over the top map in one of the corners to help the player understand the patterns he's seeing.
Crashed right after startup
Gave me a sense of visiting a town in a cRPG once all the quests were over, I mean overwhelmingly. Very cool
Game starts, I hit start, I see a screen but no discernible player character, I try hitting some of the controls, returns to main screen, I hit start again, gets stuck on the "level 1 - creation" screen
Probably the most fun I've had playing an entry yet.
I like how reading the quotes raises the difficulty level (less concentration on the ball).
Completed stuck on the blue one with the falling bricks. Otherwise awesome.
I'm a huge fan of Conway's Game of Life, so seeing it used in any way (specifically) when talking about evolution) is awesome.
For so odd reason the whole game-world was dark whenever I wasn't shooting.
Couldn't get past level one.
This is very difficult, I think i'm missing something.
Wouldn't have felt fair to rate.
