LD23 — Tiny World

Bill in BSODia by vigrid 2012-04-23T20:35:00

Smooth and responsive, graphics are perfect for an isometric game. Also, there wasn't much to shoot on the way to the boss. Every so often little guys would appear but they would just explode on the walls.

Think you could add in gamepad support? This would probably run on an XBox pretty easily.

Alien Archaeologist by jplur 2012-04-28T03:37:00

Loved the variety of monsters and tiles that did various "things" like grow or expand or whatever. Each level is short enough that the basic gameplay doesn't get tedious. I did expect later levels to get more difficult or complex, but they seemed about the same. Adding better controls and collision would be ace.

The Little Glitch by Kroltan 2012-04-24T02:59:00

Nice atmosphere and graphics. Good thing I read the hint in the comments :)

Empty by Tim Bumpus 2012-05-03T04:09:00

I think adding jumping elements to a puzzle like this is a cool idea, but the jumping controls were kind of wonky.

A Tiny World Hero by midgard 2012-05-03T04:21:00

The game crashed on me a lot, but you get bonus points for using chickens or some equivalent as enemies. Also cool that you used the Blender Game Engine. The sword "animation" was a neat effect although it probably wasn't intentional.

Tiny Shards by Gabriel 2012-04-25T03:36:00

Excellent graphics and smooth platforming action. Even the writing was a step up from most LD entries, and showing the next shard/stage floating behind your house was a nice touch.

Quantum Entanglement by icefallgames 2012-04-23T20:17:00

Did the first nine, but I think I cheated on one or two of them. Still the basic concept of entanglement was really well incorporated into the puzzles, without seeming like a one-trick pony. The somber BGM was oddly appropriate.

Ethereal Isles by Izzimach 2012-04-23T19:47:00

Thanks for trying the game guys!

Yeah, I ran out of time so the game doesn't have much tactical depth. The easiest way to win is to wait until one of the enemies breaks off from the others and then drop all four of your guys on top of him to take him out before the other enemies get there. I think the game really needs some more distinctive monster abilities and controls.

Lost Oxide by SidetrackGames 2012-05-03T04:01:00

The color palette and animations were great. I usually don't like wall-jumping platformers but the controls here worked well for me.

Tiny Card World by Pisti 2012-04-28T03:53:00

The energy mechanic adds a lot of strategy to the overall choices made in combat, and the background music is suprisingly catchy. I really wish I could drag cards around to build decks and buy/sell though.

Small World by psychopsam 2012-04-23T19:55:00

Audio and graphics are top-notch, and the game as a whole is complete. The only problem I had was that the avatar's head would block my view so I couldn't see where I was going.

One Room War by Phobos001 2012-04-23T20:04:00

Simple but solid, if a bit repetitive. The audio and explosions really make the game.

Trapped in the Lawn by BomberGames 2012-04-27T00:23:00

The levels were well designed with some variety of platforms and enemies and things. Sometimes it was hard to see the bullets when the background was a light blue sky, though.

Heracles N Chickens by marshalo 2012-04-23T19:51:00

Can't download the windows file: I get a 404 trying to download heracles.zip

spectrumTrap by sugarlollipop 2012-05-03T03:10:00

The presentation of the "trapped" concept works for me, but the game mechanics seem incomplete, like you ran out of time. I think a few more game-y elements such as walls closing in or having an "exit" that moves every time you get close to it would make this more like a game while still maintaining that trapped feeling.

ZUNZANDA by SonnyBone 2012-04-25T03:10:00

The audio narration makes it. The pacing was a little slow, especially since every time I died I had to click through the start menu and skip the intro again. But besides that, really fun and polished.

Sneaking Guinea Pig by Dzarg 2012-04-23T20:24:00

Clear and easy intro. The "poop meter" was funny but you only pause for second to poop, so it doesn't seem like it matter too much. Maybe pooping effects the timing on later levels that I didn't complete?

Shorted Out by HybridMind 2012-05-03T03:37:00

Pretty short and simple, but easy to understand and polished. Audio would really help a lot though.

Atomsmash by Dan C 2012-05-03T03:34:00

Heck, if you put enough effort into making a C64 game I can at least spend some effort to install an emulator. This is a lot better than anything I made on my TRS-80 in the day.

Scorched Earth by Jungorend 2012-04-24T01:11:00

The concept of destroying your own tiles was interesting, but it took a while to figure out all the controls. Something a simple as changing cursor color when making a legal move/selection would have helped a lot.

Nano Ascension by mikelovesrobots3 2012-04-28T04:09:00

Camera was a bit wonky, but everything else was well thought out and polished. The audio snippets really added to the coolness factor of the game.

Single Cycles by mildmojo 2012-05-03T03:54:00

The one-button controls are elegant, and it's great that each player can pick any key on the keyboard. The "Tiny World" might be a little too tiny, though, since it gets pretty hard to follow what's happening with 3+ players.

SimHamlet by Thief 2012-04-26T22:43:00

Basic mechanics are good, but there needs to be a "speed up" function for the stretches when I am just waiting for stone/wood or whatever. Also, the first time I put a farm down some big dark circles started appearing and it took me a minute to figure out they were crops. For a second I thought huge sinkholes were appearing in the ground.

Intertubes by Jack 2012-04-26T19:58:00

For the first few waves I was afraid the game's pacing would be too slow, but it ramped up pretty well after a few waves. The game basically feels like a twin-stick shooter with random level layouts, and pulls it off pretty well.

Spaceship Planet Merge by codeapparat 2012-04-24T01:24:00

Liked the mechanic of smashing together planets. Can you jump to other planets? I tried a few times but couldn't get it to work.

Archipelago by scottychips 2012-04-24T19:58:00

Good audio and visuals. The controls seemed a little clunky; maybe you would be better off with more RTS-style controls? This definitely looks like it has good potential once you add some more things to do though.

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-24T01:29:00

The basic idea is interesting, but I think a smaller play area and shorter time limit would help a lot, or some additional mechanics like you described. As it currently stands, the painting/repainting gets a little repetitive.
