LD22 — Alone

The Chosen by Balooga03 2012-01-04T15:19:00

I searched the island exhaustively and there only appears to be 4 pebbles. I gave up after an hour. Looks pretty and runs smoothly though so good effort there! I had to vote down on the fun factor though since the game was very slow and ultimately gets boring once you have explored the island once.

Yes, that's something I wish I had done given more time. I have moved the story text into the instructions screen in the build with audio described in the update but as the update states that build is NOT for judging for this contest. If you wan't to download that version to play just for fun go ahead, but please judge only the version submitted for the contest. Thanks for your comment! Your feedback is much appreciated!

Starlighter by kutuup1989 2011-12-28T02:10:00

@summaky There does seem to be a bug which causes instant game overs for some users. All the machines I tested on seemed ok, what setup are you using? I have linked to the version with audio which also fixed the bug for some users if you want to play the game, but as I said in the update, please only rate the submitted build (even if it didn't work for you, I'd rather the feedback be honest and negative than cheat to get better feedback).

@philhassey You need to install the redist package included in the game folder. See the readme file.

LD23 — Tiny World

3rd Planet by xillix 2012-04-24T00:55:00

Cool idea but there didn't seem to be a penalty for allowing things to hit your planet. The way the physics worked was awesome though!

Finger Attack by Toko 2012-04-23T22:27:00

I can't seem to run the game because a dll is missing (OpenAl32). I tried reading the included text file but my French is quite poor, is there a fix?

Attempted French Translation:

Je ne peux pas sembler courir le jeu parce qu'un dll manque (OpenAl32). J'ai essayé lisant le fichier texte inclus mais mon français est tout à fait pauvre, il y a une réparation ?

Small Slime Adventure by VoidChronos 2012-04-23T23:27:00

Not bad! Although there was nothing to stop me breezing on out of the map and flying free as a bird :P It was pretty hard too but not annoyingly so.

Crazy.Stupid.Games by Crazy.Stupid.Games 2012-04-23T22:41:00

I don't understand. I was offered to hear a story, then I'm careening down a road in a bus? The game worked well for what it was but lacked any real gameplay.

6 Degrees of Sabotage by dukope 2012-04-23T00:23:00

Wow! That was fun! Very challenging too!

In Delusion by crippledgames 2012-04-24T16:16:00

Well that was downright disturbing! Nice work, the music was creepy as all hell lol

Little Sheep by Merkurius Team 2012-04-23T23:38:00

I can't find an executable in the folder :(

A Tenthlings Quest by zenasprime 2012-04-24T15:57:00

Superb! The music really made it complete, only downside was its short length but what a game!

ACTION SCIENCE DOG by bburbank 2012-04-24T16:19:00

If I learned one thing from this game it this: If someone ever offers me "science cheese" I'd be better off declining :P Nice work!

Nexus Rails by argo15 2012-04-23T23:29:00

It looked very pretty but I couldn't figure out what I needed to do and found myself quite confused.

A Giant Step by Quinas 2012-04-23T23:19:00

That was hilarious lol although I'm not sure Ride of the Valkyries is public domain music.

Are You Okay? by Bread 2012-04-22T22:00:00

I have to say I don't think I've ever played a game made entirely out of hyperlinks before!

Tiny Floating Island by kivifreak 2012-04-22T21:35:00

Not bad! Just needs more in the way of gameplay and some polish with the graphics, still for 1 hour's work it's not a bad start.

Pluto's Revenge by HoldenLink 2012-04-23T23:23:00

lol that was fun! "now get Mars, he was a dick anyway" :P

Interstellar Moai Ranger by Shifty 2012-04-23T23:34:00

That was awesome! Reminds me of Thunder Blade back in the arcades :P

Super Planet Crusher Extreme by edg3 2012-04-23T23:41:00

The game doesn't run. Presuming you made it in XNA you need to "publish" it in Visual Studio before deploying to other systems.

MacroPong by LegacyCrono 2012-04-23T23:45:00

Good lord was that ever hard lol nice idea though!

Revolves by natpat 2012-04-23T23:43:00

Not a bad start! Could be quite a fun game when it's finished!

Antibody by fueelin 2012-04-23T22:33:00

I'm not sure I fully understood the game since I was almost immediately overrun by bacteria. However it seemed pretty original and the music was kinda creepy :P

Space Bear by madflame991 2012-04-24T16:07:00

lol how do people come up with this stuff! Not a bad game at all, quite hard and could use some sound though!

Pale Blue Dot by KevinWorkman 2012-04-24T01:03:00

Cool idea! Pretty fun to play too :)

Hopeless by DragonSix 2012-04-22T21:55:00

I installed both the redists but I just get a white screen and "this program has stopped working" error. Have I missed a step?

Merlin, Build Me a Castle by ChrisWhitman 2012-04-24T16:10:00

Weird and surprisingly fun with a second player. It looks amazing visually too!

Trucking the Universe by FrozenCow 2012-04-24T00:04:00

That was pretty damned fun! Controls were a bit hard to get down but it worked fine :)

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-23T23:04:00

To answer the music question, it was not composed by me, so I can't take credit lol it was composed by a friend who works as a session musician and composer. You can find some more of his work at http://www.myspace.com/superstardefender. He composes a lot of license free music for newgrounds too which you can also check out if you need music for any projects :)

The music for this game will likely end up on there very soon too.

His name is Nikolai Husted if you want to search him. He has a claim to fame in that he was the drummer with Out of Sight before they split.

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-23T23:11:00

You can also find a bizarre video of us recording for a shoddy comedy film we did a few years back at:

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-23T23:36:00

The fanfare is open source and comes with Sonar as a demo. It pops up all over the internet on license free sites too. The in game music was composed by a friend as mentioned above.

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-24T00:45:00

@VDOgamez that was originally an idea I toyed with but it proved too complex to get working within the time limit since I had already invested so much time in getting the ants to move as a swarm. I added the ability to add grass tiles since the game became too hard if you had to rely on the ants alone to do it. Thanks for your feedback though!

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-24T00:49:00

@VDOgamez "You just erase all the enemy tiles and draw everywhere with your tiles". That's the whole point of the game. You have to keep up with the red ants when they spread out and clear the land they move out of and keep them in check when they retreat. The whole idea is that you can't control the ants and have to adapt and respond to what they do.

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-24T00:55:00

@cadin you gave a rating even though you couldn't play it?

Anthill by kutuup1989 2012-04-24T01:40:00

@Izzimach the large play area with loads of tiny tiles was my take on the Tiny World theme, plus I figured ants are pretty tiny lol I just pulled the time limit out of the air as a decent amount of time, but thinking back it might be a little too long.

ARACHNID by BuffaloPhil 2012-04-24T00:57:00

Very cool idea! Pretty fun and challenging too!

Purgatorio by moonkid 2012-04-22T21:42:00

Weird as all hell (no pun intended) but pretty interesting! I like it!
