I actually have, and did a couple months ago! But man, taking the jump from a company that won't be going anywhere was super scary for my family.
And here's the post-mortem! http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2011/08/23/and-just-like-that-a-post-mortem/
Director's Cut soon!
d_m so you know: the Director's Cut's main path only changes slightly, and you won't know your time was being trialled. If you enter the challenge area (which will be kind of obvious), that's when a clock shows up.
your game changed my life.
LOGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is great! Love the thought that went into the level design.
I love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So charming, a tiny rogue-ish romp through a cave that I honestly don't want to leave.
Cool mechanic! I wish you moved a little faster.
Pretty great! Not enough classic adventure in these compos.
Fantastic! Makes me want to definitely use Unity for the next compo.
Reminds me a lot of a sliding block puzzle, but with jumping. neat!
Really great game. I expect you will get many many votes, and you deserve all the success that doing well in ludum dare grants you. Plus, there were like 10,000 people that watched you write the code, so you probably didn't cheat.
I love to see weird nerdpuzzles show up in LD! Also the art here is super charming. Would buy the iOS version.
Looks fun, but can't get it to run on OSX.
Simply wonderful.
Super polished!
Love that you can grab ledges SO MUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice mechanic, and I love that you got to create such a ridiculously large FlxTilemap. Lonely game.
May want to tone down the religious overtones, but overall a cool concept!
My son watched me make some of my entry, but mostly he wanted me to do other things (with him and his toys). Someday!
Charming art!
I love it so much!
I really like the flocking to spell words. I think you should keep working on it to get it playable. MORE ZOMBIES THAN DEAD RISING.
Love to see an HTML5 game that actually runs pretty well!
I love killing things with the key.
Cool sim!
Oh man somebody else made a game starring a corgi! CORGI FISTBUMP FOR LIFE.
oh man completely fantastic.
I made some things ram into some planets!
Yeah, same as others, doesn't seem to work for me (jar won't launch on my mac).
very pretty! I felt compulsion loops hooking into my brain. Really liked the disaster effects!
Thanks for the kind words, guys! I think my real takeaway from this project is that the whole "world moves with you" thing from roguelikes is severely underexplored. I had a point where enemies were firing way too frequently once and the level looked like a top-down bullet-hell dungeon crawler. That was super interesting, because it took the part I hate about bullet-hell shooters out (EXTREME RESPONSIVENESS) but kept the part I love (DANCING). I'm not kidding when I say I want to make a Contra game that handles like this.
I found that out post-compo. Oh well, this is Action Science Dog, something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
I have found one lockup that can occur; while creating dungeon floors it will try and place the exit a certain number of steps from the entrance; this distance is based on the size of the floor being generated, but sometimes an exit cannot "fit" depending on how the entrance was placed. Fix going up soon, as well as an update including more equipment, levelling up hero and enemies, better AI, and an ending. Probably have it all packaged up by Monday, time willing.
Neat! Really liked when it zoomed out the first time.
AMAZING LIGHTING. Also, nice large map. Congrats!
OH MAN that's super fun. A game that literally made me say, outloud, to witnesses, "holy crap I love Ludum Dare."
I love games where you are one pixel! Had fun doing stunts in this, had a nice challenge progression.
really like the little dude, but man I kept fighting that camera. Really liked the feel of the controls other than that!
Nice atmosphere, liked the ending bits!
Excellent design here, in particular I was constantly faced with Risk / Reward decisions. Amazing run animation for the hero / dark knight. Played it until I beat it, which was quite satisfying.
Fantastic! Really wanted the shoemaker to come out at the end and say "OH. MY SHOE."
well built, decent puzzles! Would love to see a deep-space background thrown behind.
I find something very striking about how this looks. would love to see it expanded.
OH GOD your house is very frightening. Lots of screens here.
Mac version crashes on boot :(

WHOAH it's MMO-y. Supre impressed with that, but I always felt like I had no idea what I was doing.
Love the way this looks! Also, is fun.
EXPLODING
I really love how this looks. I'm hypnotized by it, and don't ever want to stop.
Oh my. Neat adventure system, especially nice to see item combining and an inventory.
HAIL SAGAN
I really wanted to use those swords on that nose-guy. Super interesting "4d" concept.
Absolutely love the sprite work, and the SUN. Pretty awesome experience, great job!
cheeky and great. Great job capturing the essence of the original!
Hey it's sort of like a Katamari Dungeon Crawler and that's awesome. Mouse was WAY too sensitive, otherwise great job!
Feels a lot like an old PC game, great!
Oh man I am terrible at circuit design. Got through the first one but can't seem to complete the second. Still, cool idea, could be grown into a pretty cool teaching tool for simple electrical engineering.
Agree that it seemed rather tough, but I felt like it was because I was missing something.
Great music! Also a puzzler that really makes my head hurt.
Really like when you jump through the planet. This would make a neat game, you should power through and make more of it!
GROWWWWWWWW. Liked the pixel texturing quite a bit.
