LD23 — Tiny World

The Small World of Professor Strange by Will Edwards 2012-04-25T11:18:00

Love the graphics and a sweet, whimisical story. My problem with this is common to many text adventures ie I feel that I'm trying to be a mind-reader to find the correct commands to do what I want to do. It might help to have a full list of the commands next to the game in the browser window or maybe change it to hyperlink choice based? Cheers!

AquaWars by ElzingaT 2012-04-26T08:15:00

Great! Reminds me of Insanquarium... I wasn't really sure what the 'tools' did ie what feeding my fish did, but otherwise lovely graphics loved commanding my tiny minnow army. Cheers!

9Lives by TheGamingProject 2012-04-24T03:03:00

Ooh.. definitely tiny! Very cute! I got stuck at the top of the tree trunk with the snails... not sure if that was a bug or if I just couldn't figure out what to do?

Microbe jump by jmaasing 2012-04-23T08:22:00

Worked for me - maybe you need java?
Anyways, I found the controls to be a bit tricky to get to at first, but once I got the hang of it it was pretty fun. Some more feedback for the player (animations, sounds, etc) would be great. ^_^ Also, I found the feeling of the rain drops 'falling down' wasn't quite sold to me - could maybe fixed by having non-jumpable raindrops falling down faster...?? Also, I loved the camera work! Cheers!

Underfoot by zorf 2012-04-23T08:53:00

Love squishing all the tiny people - would like some more sounds, like tiny screaming, the earth pounding as each footprint appears, giant belly laughs - maybe a 'fee fi fum' when you squash more than one person in a footprint? I could see a flocking + fleeing behaviour working well. I feel like I should get a splinter when I step on those houses ^_^ Also, +1 kudos to releasing source code for a jam game and for making a game that zips up to 0kb! 0kb people! Cheers!

The Great Adventure of Mr.Galaxis by TobiasNL 2012-05-10T10:31:00

Definitely an underrated gem of #LD23. Hope you'll keep working on this!

Pow! Pow! Pow! by Cake&Code 2012-04-25T07:55:00

Lovely graphics, nice mechanic with the shrinking and flinging. The platforming did feel a little off - I really like what Scott Rogers has to say about making great feeling platformers: http://mrbossdesign.blogspot.com.au/2008/10/platformer-primer.html . Cheers!

Doctor! by ak1011 2012-04-24T05:07:00

The link seems to be to a file on your computer, rather than the internet...?

Freddies by berkano 2012-04-23T10:04:00

Liked the concept and the puzzles were good - though sometimes there seems to be some luck involved in successfully solving the level? It was pretty difficult to see which character was selected - maybe it could be made more obvious and the background changed to make the characters "pop" more? Or maybe we could select the freddies directly? Also, just my personal preference, but I think I'd like the pace of gameplay a little slower, so I could plan my moves better ^_^ Cheers!

Montezuma's Tomb by recursor 2012-05-10T06:01:00

Source doesn't download.

Around the World in 80 Seconds (or less) by gormio 2012-05-11T23:26:00

Love to see this taken further!

Poor Pluto by flownerous 2012-05-10T03:56:00

Poor Pluto! ^_^

Big Atoms by Alink 2012-04-23T11:22:00

Nice concept, love how it looks. The controls are a bit tricky and it could just be me, but they felt a bit unresponsive. I'd ideally like them to feel a bit more fluid and (because I love my shinies) I'd like some effects when I collect atoms and when I collide with them. It's impressive that you came up with this AND and editor in the short time. Cheers!

Minor Deities by maranas 2012-04-25T02:52:00

Admittedly, I am a sucker for choice text-based games, but it would be nice if there was more internal 'logic' to the consequences of your choices. Also, the text was very blurry on fullscreen on my computer. I do really like the concept though - as someone mentioned, it reminded me very much of Sandbox of God.

In a Lonely Sea of Stars by Ben 2012-04-23T11:50:00

Very impressive first-time entry! I couldn't get very far into the game, but it seems that you've got a great base for modularly adding content into a very fun game - Cheers!

Grow! by Rabbits... 2012-05-10T05:41:00

Found the 'inversing' of the wasd and mouse controls very interesting.

Endless Siege by flaxenflash 2012-04-23T13:13:00

Very nice, I would definitely keep working on it and release it! I'd like to see more of a visual difference between the seasons and maybe a health/damage metre? Loved the feel of the controls and the animations - good luck!

Tiny World - Tiny Bits by notepid 2012-04-24T03:21:00

Very impressive for a first game! Loved how you could collect different body parts for different abilities. The 'sweet spot' for the platforming felt a little off - I found this page to be really helpful when designing platformers: http://mrbossdesign.blogspot.com.au/2008/10/platformer-primer.html .

ACTION SCIENCE DOG by bburbank 2012-04-25T07:39:00

Love roguelikes and the movement base was fun. I felt a little lost though, as I couldn't figure out a way to move to the next 'dungeon' floor or open my inventory (I'm one of those players that need instructions for everything ^_^). I do hope that you'll keep working on it as it has so much super potential! Cheers!

Spaceways by roundcrisis 2012-04-24T09:26:00

Won't open on 32 XP here :(

Greed Wars by IgnatusZuk 2012-04-24T05:04:00

It's kind of like how Gamedev Story + Tower Defense + Space Colonies + Pie Charts would be! ^_^ It's quite fun to watch your little men conquering the planet, but I did find it a little too easy to get into an unwinnable state and maybe I missed a trick, but I didn't really understand how the resource gathering was happening. Overall, vey cute! Cheers!

Tiny Garden of Hope by steamgirl 2012-05-10T04:10:00

Wow. Just lovely. Concept's great, mood is nicely done. I found it a little difficult to generate enough energy to keep going. I *am* a sucker for growing games, though.

Tiny Garden of Hope by steamgirl 2012-05-10T04:12:00

I have to amend my previous comment with: No source? I believe this disqualifies you from the competition, which would be a pity, IMO.

Tiny Garden of Hope by steamgirl 2012-05-12T09:15:00

I think that's fine? It's not specified on the rules page, but I don't think assets are included, it's usually just the scripting of the game - I think the spirit of the idea is so that we can all learn from each other. ^_^

There is a Picture by MortisGhost 2012-04-25T08:37:00

Keep having problems trying to download it :(

Little Poui by jami 2012-04-23T12:08:00

Definitely, more of a toy than a game - but I dig the aesthetic and there's something hypnotizing about those sneakers. I wouldn't mind being able to stomp on some different things, as well as the houses ^_^ Cheers!

Tinytanic by maartenwiedenhof 2012-05-11T23:15:00

Sick AND Cute at the same time. ^_^

Tiny little World by Fridge Eater 2012-04-24T05:33:00

Looks lovely, great use of the Unity engine. I couldn't get the characters to really interact with anything, just to move from location to location. I also got a game over screen for some reason...? Would have been nice to have a replay button on the game over screen and an ingame place telling me the controls. Otherwise, seems very intriguing and I hope you all keep developing it. Cheere!

love in the time of fishbowls by otaviogood 2012-04-25T02:05:00

Conceptually, comes across as funny at first, then you end up feeling sad for those poor fishies. I do wish that fish dragging was a little faster and that there might be a visual way for people to see 'pairs' - like maybe a speech bubble when they call? Otherwise, strangely compelling - cheers!

Fracuum by TylerGlaiel 2012-05-09T12:38:00

Great concept - made me feel a little dizzy, lol. Would have been great for the recursion theme, too! ^_^

Planet Gravity by Jens Nolte 2012-05-12T00:11:00

Crashed on load, I'm using XP32.

Planet Gravity by Jens Nolte 2012-05-12T00:12:00

My bad, I didn't read the requirements correctly.

In The Beginning by BenW 2012-04-25T03:39:00

Definitely more of a toy than a game, but it looks to be a great basis for an interesting game. There's something very soothing about 'growing' items on the planet and it has a clean, fresh look to it. ^_^

Tiny Worlds by Lidfrid 2012-04-25T03:51:00

Lovely idea, great visually. Difficulty was a bit harsh, but it was still a lot of fun. Nice use of Unity, too!

In a Jam by teamVGS 2012-04-24T09:00:00

Very cute! However, delivering the boxes to the green guy doesn't seem to do anything...? Otherwise, nice concept, could see this working well on a mobile device. Cheers!

On Another Scale by Christian S. 2012-05-12T09:57:00

What a beautiful little world you have created. It was like moving through a dream.

Game With a Fantastic Title by batzerk 2012-05-11T11:39:00

Unfortunately, the audio didn't work for me (I'm on XP32), which is a shame as it sounds like I missed out! But, I loved what I experienced anyways - I can really see this growing to full-fledged game release!

tiny hostile world by Akunate 2012-05-09T11:38:00

This is the beginning of a promising game - I can see lots of things being added to it. Definitely has a bit of a "tilt to live" vibe about it.

ANtopia by pgil 2012-04-25T10:49:00

Beautiful ^_^. I wish I was given an objective, as I was just wandering around, exploring for the heck of it - also I wish there was a way to regain health. Nice atmosphere.

The Tiny World of the butterfly by OriginalBigDan 2012-05-08T08:19:00

My kind of game: beautiful, simple and refreshing - I hope you continue to work on it!

T in Y World by Tom 7 2012-05-09T13:25:00

Love this! Fun concept, great puzzles! Well done.

TINY WORlDS by machinas 2012-05-10T06:57:00

That...was...awesome! Of course, I love word games, but still!

Memento XII by deepnight 2012-04-25T00:37:00

Love the concept and it was truly a tiny word. Didn't get to the end though, as the extreme pixel hunting was a little much for me - also the vocab was a little pendantic: you don't really need an 'open/close' if you have a 'use' Such a shame, as what I saw was very intriguing and had great atmosphere. Cheers!

pbd by Peevish 2012-04-24T10:15:00

Might want to warn people about the 80mb+ download.

Like the concept, but sometimes it was hard to tell if anything was happening, as the screen was often blank. The sound, while good for setting the mood, was also a little off-putting. Cheers!

Space Cabin by trylle 2012-05-12T18:11:00

Crashed on open - complained that a .dll was missing - I'm using XP32, if that makes a difference.

dLeIaFtEh by Cell 2012-04-23T09:03:00

Very interesting... I can't say that I really understood what was going on in the story, but what I experienced made me want to know more. Loved the graphics and the movement of the character felt very smooth. Overall, quite intriguing and I'd love to see more. Cheers!

World of desTiny by LiquidAsh 2012-04-24T08:45:00

Doesn't want to work for me - just shows the title screen.

Planetoids by Bloodyaugust 2012-05-10T10:05:00

There doesn't appear to be a download?

Head Trauma by drZool 2012-04-25T02:41:00

Visually, very lovely. Had some trouble trying to trigger the pink buttons - maybe the colliders need to be bigger? Effects were nice, too.

Tiny Oblique World by headchant 2012-04-24T09:50:00

Love the concept, but unfortunately I couldn't actually execute any commands, it just kept printing Hello World over and over again - also started to experience massive slowdown after having open for a couple minutes - it was apparently using up %50 of my CPU :( Too bad, as the game was fun just watching what would happen ^_^ . Maybe you could add some way for the player to know what everything on the screen is?

Orbiter by thatshelby 2012-05-09T14:25:00

Really like this. For a TD game, it's oddly soothing and hypnotic. I'd love something to show me the progression of time through the day ie. how much time left before next day.

Bottlecolonies by tcstyle 2012-05-10T03:49:00

Lovely, really charming game. Love the aesthetics and the gameplay is great.

Cleansing of the tiny worlds by Scrapworks 2012-05-10T05:28:00

Couldn't get the bullets to fire back at the birdies, but otherwise loved this. Impressive entry.

Tiny Planet by CherryNukaCola 2012-04-23T10:32:00

Your wish is my command: MWAAHAHAHAHAHA!

Tiny Planet by CherryNukaCola 2012-05-11T07:22:00

Rabbits, I used the detonator framework: http://unity3d.com/support/resources/unity-extensions/explosion-framework , which is a little bit outdated now with Unity's new particle system, but I haven't fully gotten my head around shruiken yet. ^_^

Subatomica by SFBTom 2012-04-23T10:57:00

Great concept, love the execution, too! I might like a pop-up telling me what each new element does - but maybe that would ruin the discovery? Great job, could really see this being further polished and commercially released! Cheers!

Lost In Her Eye by Blengineer 2012-05-10T04:33:00

Well, that was both beautiful and disturbing.

Burger Defender by Beerman 2012-05-10T10:11:00

Super cute! Found the controls pretty difficult and would have loved to see the burger actually shrink as it got smaller. Nice music - was it "The Goonies" inspired?

TinyColony by aaronsnoswell 2012-04-25T03:20:00

Wow! Love the whole sim-rpg concept. Could have kept playing this game for quite a long time ^_^ . Nice controls - wouldn't mind seeing this one expanded on. - Cheers!

I want to turn the heater on by Andrew 2012-04-25T01:45:00

Very surreal and I like the interpretation of the theme. I appreciate that it was made in Processing, too. ^_^ Cheers!

Invasion of the Planet Snatchers! by icefox 2012-05-10T09:43:00

What I saw was nice - but I couldn't seem to do anything besides walk around, jump and swing my sword...?

Extensionism by eelfroth 2012-04-25T08:57:00

Love the mechanic, a really interesting take on the theme. I do wish that the 'walkable' vs 'unwalkable' tiles were a little more clearly different and though you have a reset level button, I wish that the crates couldn't get into an 'unwinnnable' position. Still, I found it quite refreshing and I always love to see games made in Processing ^_^ Cheers!

Homedefender by Hopps 2012-04-24T08:47:00

Didn't even get any error messages - just won't load.

Good job! If you don't mind transferring your java learning to javascript, you should check out Unity for the next jam: it's free and can export to the web.

Prince of Leaves by evilseanbot 2012-04-24T09:14:00

Very cute - and love having the tutorial in the music! As much as I love foreground and background styles, they do clash a bit ^_^ Definitely has an 'Adventure Time' vibe to it. Cheers!

The world of Marceline by Pitoum 2012-05-08T08:40:00

Yikes, that was pretty brutal. Interesting way of examining the Holocaust.

Mothly's World by ReikVal 2012-04-25T03:01:00

Hmmm... just doesn't want to open for me. I'm on XP 32, if that makes a difference.

Tiny Cavern by mipi 2012-04-23T11:35:00

Very sweet, reminds me of of Sissy's Magical Ponycorn Adventure. Loved the hand drawn graphics - maybe next time you can try drawing some pictures to go along with the intro and the endings? Cheers!

Tiny's World by tacograveyard 2012-04-26T12:51:00

Love this - and the song.....THE SONG, OMG, THE SONG! It's so sweet and cuddly and I will pet him and play with him and name him George.

The Last Colony by Wyzfen 2012-05-08T08:45:00

Strangely compelling... couldn't figure out how I was gathering resources, but maybe that was just silly me!

Mondrian Click by CherryNukaCola 2013-04-29T05:50:00

The click detection is actually working fine. You can't click on a circle that is underneath a "ripple". Sorry, I've updated the instructions to make that more explicit.

Mondrian Click by CherryNukaCola 2013-04-29T13:57:00

Re: the music, I wasn't aware of that - (the rules make it sound like it's kosher as long as you have legal right to use it, maybe that needs to be more explicit on the rules page...?) Anyways, I've switched it over to a jam entry.
