Controls felt *really* twitchy. Liked the little 'whee' when you jump :)

Controls felt *really* twitchy. Liked the little 'whee' when you jump :)
Heh, just a little, yeah. Never done anything with Unity before, so it took me so long just getting things working there wasn't much time left to put an actual game in there. Next time...
Useful to know, James.
I'll try and upload a windows build for you sometime tonight.
OK, windows version added above. Hope that works for you!
Loved the sound - really creepy. The map is pretty bland, a bit more variety there could make a real improvement.
Nice idea. The red text is really hard to read so I couldn't figure out how to get very far, but the blocks and electricity are a fun concept.
Looks great, and the music fits the mood nicely. Just needs a bunch more 'game' in there and you'd have something pretty cool.
Crashes for me too :( Also Win7 x64
5 hours? Impressive. Being able to use the fireballs for lighting was a nice touch.
Could do with more variety in the level g
Aargh. Stupid crashy internets!
As I was saying...
Could do with more variety in the level generation - feels like it's just cycling the same 3-4 obstacles over and over.
Looks like it could be interesting, but completely unplayable with the current controls, sadly.
Nice idea. Completely unplayable unless you're some kind of ninja, but the concept's good.
Absolutely brilliant! Needs to be a bit easier to get the people to stay inside, but it's really fun.
This *needs* to become a full game.
Yeah, that was something I was meaning to address but in the end there just wasn't time.
Might come back to this and expand on it though, feels it has the potential to be something quite good with a little more work.
If you get close enough, the cat will jump up and start to follow you. The level generator *should* make it so you can always get close enough for it to see you.
Can't argue with you on the colour scheme, that's definitely something I wish I'd fixed before release. Would hardly have taken me any time at all to change the floor colour :(
@guzzungo Yep. Ant Attack was pretty much the template for this. I've never actually played it but I've always liked the style of the visuals and it seemed like a good fit for the theme.
@philhassey You have to lead the kitten back to the entrance if you want to see the win screen :)
@tcstyle I read pretty fast, sometimes I forget that's not normal. Will have to bear that in mind next time and slow the text down to a pace that regular mortals can handle...
@SonnyBone It's not supposed to be *easy* to find the cat, that wouldn't be much of a game, would it? ;)
Interesting that the isometric controls seem to be confusing people, it used to be a pretty common layout back in the day. It helps if you turn your keyboard at a 45 degree angle so that the keys line up with the axes of the game world.
@Raptor85 Hmm, that *would* be pretty cool. No idea how I'd make that work but it's a great idea.
For anyone who's having trouble reading the intro, you can see it in the screenshots below the main one above. They're in order left to right, just click the thumbnails for full size.
Robotron! And it hates you and wants you to die even more than the original did!
And the controls are backwards - it feels really weird having the fire controls on the left...
Fantastic stuff. I agree with Rudy that the controls were a little on the twitchy side, but that was still really fun to play. Would love to see an expanded version with more furniture.
I have absolutely no idea what was going on there.
Cool visuals though :)
Impressively original, brutally hard though.
Took me a few plays to realise you don't have to click on the phone to submit, and yeah, having to keep track of colours *and* shapes at the same time is pretty hard.
Maybe if you started with just colours and added the shapes later for added difficulty?
Loved the Weeping Angel style enemies. If you had a few different poses for the models to be frozen in you'd be into serious brown trouser territory!
I'm giving you some points for the audio just because the complete silence actually made it creepier.
Crashes for me as soon as the intro's finished. No error messages, Windows7 x64. Shame, cos this looks kind of fun.
Nice idea. Waaaay too slow though, particularly with the length of the levels. Felt like it took forever to get to the end.
Looks great, and movement has a nice feel to it. If there was some actual gameplay in there this would be a really decent entry.
I like just about everything about this. Nice clean visuals, clever mechanic, perfectly pitched difficulty.
Nice job :)
Very nice. The graphics and audio really give it a great oldschool arcade atmosphere.
I'll add another voice to the complaints about the controls though - it's really difficult to keep track of which way your ship's pointing and aim with the mouse at the same time.
Wow. Nice job. Loved the way it slowly gets creepier as the story progresses.
Looks good, feels fun to drive. I'd be interested to see what you come up with if you put a bit more game in there.
I love this! If you do an expanded post-compo version it needs crowds of little panicky people to stomp on!
Yay - a game I can finish! Funny :)
Very nice. Really chilled out and relaxing, the way the night/day transitions follow you around the planets was really effective :)
Got to level 9 before my brain melted. Cool gimmick with the quantum entanglement, and the level transitions are a nice touch.
Smashy smashy is always fun! Bit repetitive though, with no real sense of control over whether you take damage or not, and the sound effects are really awful.
Nice job with the voxel engine, I particularly liked the Death Star style explosion when you destroy the world.
Seems like you could build something really nice around this with a bit more time.
Intro was nicely put together. Jumping feels slightly "off", and I couldn't get the hang of catching the swinging ropes/clock pendulums at all, but all in all not bad.
Could be fun with a bit more content.
This game makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. But in a good way.
I love how the utter silliness of the eventual game contrasts with the serious intro.
This could be really good with some more fleshed out puzzle mechanics. I liked how after enough upgrades the spaces became free to put anything on again, helps keep the game going.
Nice concept. Took a few goes for me to get to grips with the rules, but it was pretty cool once I did.
Visually awesome. The rings look really cool.
Not been able to try the multiplayer, but just driving around the track it feels like it should be fun.
Handling of the cars feels a little off, but then I'm not sure how a cart being driven around a planet's rings is supposed to handle...
Needs way more manoeuvrability if you're gonna be chucking that many bullets at me, also feels really hard to aim with the mouse, particularly without autofire.
Simple but clever. I like it.
Amusing concept, shame you didn't get a chance to do more with it.
Nice twist on the endless runner genre, and the day/night transitions were really well handled. Great job.
Needs more variety of weapons, but could see an expanded version of this making a fun party game.
Took me a couple of minutes to figure out which was my wizard at first, might be good to have an option to centre the view when it's your turn.
Outstanding. Easily my favourite so far.
I LOLed at "I'm watching you take a shower!" We need more Zorlax games now...
Nice job. It's a damn sight more fun than my first Unity game was.
Some very basic sound effects (zap on contact, maybe a warning buzz as you get close) would have really added some atmosphere, but the game itself is fun enough.
Oh noes!
You used the same title as another completely different game.
Since there no possible way two people could come up with such a non-obvious combination of "Bros" and "Rambo" independently I am compelled to denounce you, sirs, as thieves and scoundrels!
Seriously though, awesome job. I'd love to see an expanded version of this.
So I take it you like explosions? :)
You can also fire with left Ctrl, or download the windows version if you want to remap the controls. Left mouse just happens to be mapped to fire in the Unity defaults.
So I'm getting kind of a "we don't like the controls" vibe here. Had a quick play with it and increasing the turn speed does seem to make a difference to the playability.
I've got a few other ideas for improvements so I'm thinking about a post-compo update towards the end of the week. Watch this space...
Cool rotation effect. Restarts are a little slow given how often you die.
That was fun :) Feels like a tiny version of Commando where you forgot your gun.
A few people have suggested the balance needs a little work (but then what's an LD game without balance issues?), but I think I see it as being an excellent first level for a much bigger game. Hope you do more with it.
Same error as Kvisle above : "Could not find the main class: me.hopps.Starter."
Doesn't work for me either. I'm getting the same error message. Windows 7 Pro, x64
Needs a little more variety in the gameplay, but not bad.
The asteroid rotation works really nicely.
That was great. Sometimes a little hard to tell which one is your character but I really enjoyed running around the little pixel city murdering people :D
Would definitely like to see a post compo version.
Took a few goes to get the hang of the controls but it was worth the effort. Fun game, the title screens really added to the comic-book vibe :)
Collisions seem a bit off and it could do with some warning of when the guards are about to turn to give you a chance to hide.
Hahaha! Mine is an evil laugh!
That was fun - only thing I didn't like was having to repeatedly hit the keys to move. I kept expecting to be able to hold a direction down, got me hit by a train more than once.
I have no idea what the hell I just played, but it entertained me.
Brilliant interpretation of the theme. :D
Very nice. I loved the hiding by disguising yourself as pot plants and bookcases - very Scooby Doo :)
I love how this looks, the blocky landscape is really cool. Just needs a bit more game, some populous-style terrain modification would work nicely.
Wow, what a bastard!
Awesome stuff - I loved his little "victory dance" when you successfully complete an act of bastardry :D
Amusing. I'm not sure the goat is much of a villain though, that band deserve to be interrupted!
Wouldn't run for me, UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/frozendevs/ludumdare25/Dare25 : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0
Guessing it doesn't like my jre version?
Balance is a little on the easy side, but that was fun. Laser eyes and floating machine guns are always awesome :D
Looks great, brilliant atmosphere, just needs some actual "game" in there and you'd have a real winner on your hands.
Movement felt a little slow, and I had a hard time figuring out how the walls changed - kept getting stuck in a wall I'd flipped onto myself.
I like the idea though, could be fun with a bit more polish.
Damn, that's hard. Fun though. Like a few people have said, a continue would have been good. Gets a bit frustrating being kicked back to the start every time you screw up a level.
Brilliant simulation of the classic British festival experience there. All that was missing was someone peeing on my tent!
Love the minimalist visuals, trying to make people as miserable as possible without driving them away makes for a cool mechanic.
Clever, but I couldn't really get into the gameplay. Most of the time it felt like I was just throwing barrels at random.
Gloriously silly with great use of physics.
Fun little twist on tower defence there.
Heh, I've had nights like this.
Entertaingly destructive, the maxed out power at the end was great fun.
"Iron Maiden? Excellent!"
Nice job.
This is really very pretty indeed, reminds me a lot of Gravity Bone. Love the concept, really original.
Just the one negative point - it seems like when I restart the game after losing, there are no more murders in the second game - anyone else have this problem?
Slightly too grindy, especially at the start, but there's something really compelling about squishing those little victim dudes that kept me playing to the end.
This has absolutely no depth to its gameplay whatsoever and I love it. Impressively satisfying destruction :)
I won :)
Pretty fun - those tanks were total dicks, kept interrupting my dinner!
Incredibly frustrating - always a sign of a good puzzle game!
Great idea, well executed - nice job.
If this was finished, it looks like it would be awesome. Everything that's in there - the models, the ship controls, the fighter movement - is really slick. You could really make something nice from this.
Mmm, princess... Nom...
Cute - could use a little balancing but pretty fun.
Thief with Daleks - excellent concept that needs expanding on. Seriously, some Dalek voice effects would make this awesome "INTRUDER! IN-TRU-DER!!!"
Definitely needs some indication of when you're in danger of being spotted.
That was great. The skull/goat throwing seemed a little glitchy but it's lots of fun. You should definitely do an extended version with more enemies and things to summon.
Fun little game once I got the hang of targeting the enemies. Awful, awful music though.
That was fun, really nice job. Shame about the sound problems but yeah, that's html5 for you.
Graphics and soundtrack are awesome. Scrolling was a little chuggy, but pretty fun overall. Looks like it would make a great mobile game.
That was way better than the screenshots make it look. I was expecting Yet Another Platformer, but this is really clever :)
More levels please!
This really seems like the soundtrack should be Kevin Bloody Wilson's "Hey Santa Claus". Fun :D
Fun little game. Those zombies really take some killing.
Teleport feature is cool, although it's a bit too easy to end up where you can't help but teleport into a wall sometimes.
The fruit/colour based scoring is a stroke of genius. The game is surprisingly compulsive - would make a great mobile game with the addition of some sounds.
Cool concept. I couldn't quite work out what the rule was as to which walls stayed visible after the pulse but I managed to just about make it to level 2 anyway.
Very nice. Cool puzzles.
Nice job! Simple game, perfectly polished, fits the theme to a tee. I love the grainy film effect and how the bouncing keeps everything just slightly off from being perfectly geometrical - almost feels like you're playing the credits sequence to some late 60s spy movie :)
Nice. Between the colours and the drums it feels like you're flying through some kind of insane space disco.
Very cool control method - takes a little getting used to but it really works well with the game. Having said that, only some kind of devil person would fill a game like this with things that shoot at you. You monster.
Very slick. Loved the colour switching mechanic, really keeps you on your toes.
Excellent atmosphere with the sound and visuals.
I love the idea of the enemies turning to spikes but it needs something to force you to move around a bit more - seems like you can survive pretty much indefinitely by just standing in the centre and killing them as they come through the doors. More than one door in each wall might work.
Loved the atmosphere, it really makes it.
Hilarious :D The game's fun, but my favourite part was Brian's funky dance moves on the title screen.
Nice little one-button platformer. Being able to run up the walls/around the ceiling was cool.
Pretty fun. I definitely think there should be some sort of warning when the colour's about to change, possible a couple of beeps or something half a second before so that if you're close to a box you have to decide whether it's worth the risk.
Might also be good to make sure you only ever change the active colour to one that exists on the screen and always spawn at least a couple of boxes of the active colour when you collect one - it's pretty frustrating having to sit and wait for the colour to change before you can do anything.
My first game, I didn't read the instructions and thought you had to avoid the potatoes - makes things tricky!
That's pretty great :)
Outstanding. The combat mechanic works really well.
That wizard is an absolute *bastard* though.
Doesn't run on windows7 x64 - says the .exe's not compatible
Loved the visuals and the music. Couldn't figure out the clue - the walls look all identical to me - but I got lucky and hit the right square.
The gauntlet just straight up made me want to murder you ;) Damn, that thing is frustrating!
Very cool idea, the music and graphics fit the game perfectly.
Feels like it would be even better with an option for mouse control.
Love the idea, but the control layout was incredibly frustrating, with having to leap around the keyboard to switch from moving to rotating. I think a 3rd person view would work better as well, since end up having the camera right up against the obstacles a lot of the time.
Damn. That is really quite stunning. Think you've got a serious contender for winning this thing there.
Nice novel mechanic with the beam and multiple hit bonus. Love the explosions.
Great stuff. Loved the space tea.
An isometric arena shooter with a bleepy 8-bit soundtrack? It's like you made a game out of all of my favourite things. Except beer. Put some beer in there and it'd be perfect ;)
Impressively addictive gameplay there, which is kinda ironic for a game about compulsive behaviours. :D Nice job.
Hah! I pulled his head off and blood went everywhere!
Great fun, although it seemed to end at random even though the timer hadn't finished - is that meant to happen?
That was great. Amazing how much variety of characters you got out of just 3 pixels.
That's... quite a lot of particles you've got there. Would love to see a polished up version with some more complicated/difficult levels.
Interesting idea - didn't feel like I had any control over the panels though. I kept clicking and sometimes they'd spin, sometimes they wouldn't.
Flying tank! Awesome!
The jump physics felt a little iffy, but I like the idea of having to avoid collecting things.
I did have to go back and collect ALL THE THINGS, just to see if anything happened :)
Aaargh! What the hell is wrong with you, dude? That is just *evil*. I love it!
Took a little thinking, but I made it to the moon. Great job.
Neat idea. Could use a few more/harder puzzles.
Looks absolutely lovely, but as a few other people have said it just feels too slow to be much fun.
Very chilled-out. Reminds me of the bonus stages in Tempest 2000
Way too hard for me. Good fun though.
Cool. Nice relaxing pace, leads to some oddly chilled-out firefights. Could do with a bit of an ambient soundtrack, I reckon.
Fun little shooter - loved the music.
Helicopter game with an auto-cannon! Nice idea.
Loved the visuals, could have done with some sounds to really give it some atmosphere though.
Cool, a fellow libGdx user. Fun little shooter - you should have called it Spud Gunner though :D
Ambitious, but you pretty much pulled it off. A few rough edges still (I don't quite 'get' the lumber mills - they keep producing even after the nearby trees are gone?) but damn good going for 48h.
Amazing - the world needs more games where you can build creatures out of butts :D
That's excellent. Outstandingly polished.
Looks good and plays pretty well. It badly needs some sound effects and some sense that your shots are having an effect on the enemy though. The 10 second weapon switch was a pretty cool idea.
Wow, this is insanely deep gameplay for 48 hours. Feels like I could sink hours into just getting the hang of this.
I like this. I seem to keep running out of new words to click on way before I see any kind of ending but it keeps pulling me back in for another try, which is always a good sign.
Pretty fun, loved the variety in the upgrades.
Great take on the theme, and the multiple endings help keep it fun. Nice job.
Great visuals and the timebending idea's pretty cool. The platforming feels a bit floaty though, makes it really hard to judge the jumps.
Great soundtrack, actual game was let down a bit by the spotty collisions, and I couldn't get on with the control system at all. It felt too fast paced for rotational controls.
Oh, by the way - you were asking about an Android version of my game : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.beercave.ld27
:)
Nice job - I'm a sucker for voxels and this is a great example of why.
Genius!
The concept is awesome enough in itself, but the little wiggle dance and the different headlines really make this special :D
That was fun. It's got a bit of a Wario Ware feel to it with all the little mini-scenarios. Could maybe do with some kind of time extend mechanic, because it's always a bit disappointing when the timer runs out and I want to keep playing.
Wow, that sure is one angry queen!
That's just plain evil. Yeah, I cheated, very clever puzzles :)
Very clever and novel mechanic there - some of those later levels get pretty crazy!
Single player experience is a bit limited, but I can see it being a fun game to play with a group of friends.
Another crash here. win7 x64, died immediately and did something weird to the brightness on my screen.
Looks and sounds absolutely stunning, but the gameplay gets old pretty quickly - after the first couple of times through the sequences it didn't really feel like I was in any danger.
Nice. Made it to level 13.
Took me a little while to figure out what was going on with the scoring - pretty nifty way of adding an element of risk to an old-school maze game, I like how every death is basically your fault for trying to run up the score too fast. Impressive soundtrack too :)
Not bad at all for a first attempt. Could do with a little bit of a delay before the game starts though - my first game I got killed before I'd even spotted the game window...
This is easily the best giant poo-monster game I've ever played.
Sound and visuals fit together perfectly, real "bad trip" feel to this. Could do with some kind of indication of when you're firing, I'm another one who thought it wasn't working at first.
Nice. Level design gets evil pretty quickly :)
Now this has got real potential. Beautifully paced, weapons feel great to use and the sound effects (especially the voice) are spot on. Only thing that lets it down is the mouse/keyboard controls - I just can't do mouse aiming properly with top down shooters.
If you can do a version with twin stick controls you've got a real winner on your hands here.
Wow. Awesome job - if this doesn't win something there's no justice in the world.
It does slowly get a little harder - I didn't have a huge amount of time to balance the difficulty properly though so if you get a lucky run of kittens and multipliers it can be a few levels before your score starts drifting close to the target again.
Also, android build's now available on the Play store.
That's actually quite fun in a walking around having a chat simulator kind of way.
Oh God, why am I upside down! This is messing with my brain, man.
Very cool idea.
Nicely put together - if anything it's a bit too easy to get caught up in the mechanics and forget to watch the main screen, but it's a great idea, well realised.
I hate those eyeballs so much. Nice job, really atmospheric.
Nice mix of shooter with base building. With a bit more depth (more buildings types, new weapons and enemies) this could be something really cool.
Pretty cool. Really like the level warping, it's a great way to interpret the theme.
That was great. Nearly jumped out of my chair at "ZOMBIES!"
Pretty good. Seemed like it was too hard at first, but once I got into a rhythm of herding the enemies to where I could jump them I could keep it going for quite a while.
A score system would be nice, and yeah, something that makes it fit more with the name - maybe between waves of enemies you plant some sky crops and harvest them for power ups?
That's pretty fun. Tricky to get the hang of the controls but really satisfying when you manage to slice through a gangsta.
Not a bad little shooter, captures the classic arcade feel pretty well. Autofire would be nice, and the collisions sometimes feel a bit unfair, but good job :)
Very nice. Simple but compelling, like crazy multi-coloured bubblewrap :)
Excellent, really enjoyed playing this. The nested factory factory factories are a great idea.
Silly, but amusing. Perfectly simulates the social media experience - in SPACE!
I love the lighting effects.
Love the chunky pixel fog of war effect. Always find mouse aim tricky in shooters though, would really benefit from dual stick controls.
Pretty cool. Like a few people have already mentioned, it could definitely do with status indicators for the individual planets. I got the the point where I had one planet left that was just surviving and it took me forever to find it.
Would also be cool if there was a more visual indicator of the amount and direction of trade flow along the route, maybe complicate things by having planets that hate each other and refuse to trade.
Nice little retro platformer :) Could do with the music being a few bars longer but really nails the mid-80s home computer vibe.
Not bad, but why so tiny? The theme was entire game on one screen, not on a postage stamp ;)
Could do with faster movement and maybe a couple of waves of one hit point "popcorn" enemies before you get to the tougher ones. Right now it feels like you do too much running away and not enough attacking.
Pooping to stay out of the bath - reminds me of Mrs Beerman's pet hedgehog...
Cool little micro platformer. Even with the glitchy physics it kept me coming back for one more go.
Bit too slow paced, and it was hard to figure out where the furnace was, but nice idea. Could make a good mobile game with a bit of polish.
That was pretty fun. Great job on the gameboy graphics and audio.
Made me laugh because mentally I'm like, twelve :)
Actual gameplay feels a bit thin though, might be better if you were allowed a few misses before getting fired so you can get more of a rhythm going.
It's a nice idea, shame you didn't have enough time to really polish it up. You should definitely keep working on it though, could be a great little game.
I can't tell - am I supposed to avoid the rocks and prolong the bee's suffering or crash into them to take the easy way out?
It's like, deep and stuff :)
Love the chunky pixel effect of the track, the ship doesn't really fit with it though. Could do with some powerups or collectibles to tempt you into taking the narrower branches when the track splits.
Add some suitable music and this could be really nice.
Took me a while, but I finally got the bug! This is definitely the best cat-hurling simulator of 2014 ;)
Cool game. The controls looked a little weird at first but once you start playing they make perfect sense.
I definitely agree the arrow needs to be faster - maybe start off fast and slow down as you lose momentum?
Cool mechanic. Those wolves are *bastards*.
Wow. That was really nicely done.
Not bad. Simple, but fiendishly difficult. Being able to knock the elf down with a direct hit was a nice touch
Great twist on the theme - I got past the door and now I'm standing on a cloud next to a snowman - is that the end?
Excellent - frantic and relaxing at the same time.
I'm not sure why, but occasionally the game seems to lose track of how many enemies are left alive. If you find yourself stuck on a screen after you've killed everything then something's gone wrong and you'll need to reload to try again.
Also, it doesn't work in Internet Explorer, because Internet Explorer. Will see if I can figure out what's wrong with it...
@Donuttt - I've not played Blitter Boy. Looks cool though, and I can see the similarity .Mine's pretty much a straight up Robotron 2084 clone.
Hey, I'm Beerman - where else would you find me but in the Beercave? :D
You get extra points for rescuing elves - I had a whole idea about having Yetis that capture elves and turn them into zombies (which drop exploding parcels) but didn't have time to implement it.
Nice. The colour bleed effect and screen shake make the shooting feel really solid. Great twist on the theme as well, endless rooms in a single screen.
