LD21 — Escape

Moustache Chick by joekinley 2011-08-23T17:53:00

Controls felt *really* twitchy. Liked the little 'whee' when you jump :)

Unlock by uuav 2011-08-23T18:29:00

Fun little game. Restart button doesn't work though.

Get to the Choppah!!! by Beerman 2011-08-23T07:57:00

Heh, just a little, yeah. Never done anything with Unity before, so it took me so long just getting things working there wasn't much time left to put an actual game in there. Next time...

Get to the Choppah!!! by Beerman 2011-08-25T07:33:00

Useful to know, James.
I'll try and upload a windows build for you sometime tonight.

Get to the Choppah!!! by Beerman 2011-08-25T17:57:00

OK, windows version added above. Hope that works for you!

Escape by Mahtiti 2011-08-23T19:49:00

Damn, that got pretty frantic. The music really helps crank up the tension.

Escape from Cube Mountain by Kharza 2011-08-23T17:07:00

Loved the sound - really creepy. The map is pretty bland, a bit more variety there could make a real improvement.

LD22 — Alone

YANA by sirius_black9999 2011-12-19T14:35:00

Nice idea. The red text is really hard to read so I couldn't figure out how to get very far, but the blocks and electricity are a fun concept.

Ydunn by Randomasta 2011-12-20T14:41:00

Looks great, and the music fits the mood nicely. Just needs a bunch more 'game' in there and you'd have something pretty cool.

Out by kosinus 2011-12-19T19:08:00

Short, but fun. With some more levels and sound that could be really good.

Below by OddOneOut 2011-12-19T10:28:00

Nice job - very atmospheric. Could really do with an invert mouse option though - very frustrating when a puzzle needs quick reactions and I end up moving the wrong way.

Quiet, Please! by ladron 2011-12-19T14:43:00

Crashes for me too :( Also Win7 x64

They Hunger by Cell 2012-01-07T17:07:00

5 hours? Impressive. Being able to use the fireballs for lighting was a nice touch.

Midnight Run by Char 2011-12-23T01:35:00

Could do with more variety in the level g

Midnight Run by Char 2011-12-23T01:37:00

Aargh. Stupid crashy internets!
As I was saying...
Could do with more variety in the level generation - feels like it's just cycling the same 3-4 obstacles over and over.

Void Defender by rubixcuber 2011-12-20T14:07:00

Looks like it could be interesting, but completely unplayable with the current controls, sadly.

Dr. Autofober's Experiment by tcstyle 2012-01-08T02:07:00

Nice idea. Completely unplayable unless you're some kind of ninja, but the concept's good.

The Lonely Sphincter by crackerblocks 2012-01-05T15:40:00

Absolutely brilliant! Needs to be a bit easier to get the people to stay inside, but it's really fun.
This *needs* to become a full game.

Lonely Robot's Kitten Quest by Beerman 2011-12-20T14:54:00

Yeah, that was something I was meaning to address but in the end there just wasn't time.
Might come back to this and expand on it though, feels it has the potential to be something quite good with a little more work.

Lonely Robot's Kitten Quest by Beerman 2012-01-05T22:29:00

If you get close enough, the cat will jump up and start to follow you. The level generator *should* make it so you can always get close enough for it to see you.

Can't argue with you on the colour scheme, that's definitely something I wish I'd fixed before release. Would hardly have taken me any time at all to change the floor colour :(

Lonely Robot's Kitten Quest by Beerman 2012-01-08T00:10:00

@guzzungo Yep. Ant Attack was pretty much the template for this. I've never actually played it but I've always liked the style of the visuals and it seemed like a good fit for the theme.

@philhassey You have to lead the kitten back to the entrance if you want to see the win screen :)

@tcstyle I read pretty fast, sometimes I forget that's not normal. Will have to bear that in mind next time and slow the text down to a pace that regular mortals can handle...

@SonnyBone It's not supposed to be *easy* to find the cat, that wouldn't be much of a game, would it? ;)

Interesting that the isometric controls seem to be confusing people, it used to be a pretty common layout back in the day. It helps if you turn your keyboard at a 45 degree angle so that the keys line up with the axes of the game world.

Lonely Robot's Kitten Quest by Beerman 2012-01-08T10:55:00

@Raptor85 Hmm, that *would* be pretty cool. No idea how I'd make that work but it's a great idea.

For anyone who's having trouble reading the intro, you can see it in the screenshots below the main one above. They're in order left to right, just click the thumbnails for full size.

Not Alone by Urfoex 2012-01-06T20:08:00

I don't get why the controls change on the second level. Very odd decision there. Bit slow moving too.
Interesting idea though, could be fun with a bit more development.

Robot Armageddon! by Raptor85 2012-01-08T01:53:00

Robotron! And it hates you and wants you to die even more than the original did!
And the controls are backwards - it feels really weird having the fire controls on the left...

VOXTERIUM by Kitch 2012-01-08T00:47:00

Outstanding. Looks like Rez, plays like an oldschool arcade shooter. Love it.

Alone with... things! by codeapparat 2012-01-07T21:07:00

Fantastic stuff. I agree with Rudy that the controls were a little on the twitchy side, but that was still really fun to play. Would love to see an expanded version with more furniture.

A dark dream by 0x64 2012-01-08T01:31:00

I have absolutely no idea what was going on there.
Cool visuals though :)

Alone With a Phone by waynebeam 2012-01-08T01:09:00

Impressively original, brutally hard though.

Took me a few plays to realise you don't have to click on the phone to submit, and yeah, having to keep track of colours *and* shapes at the same time is pretty hard.

Maybe if you started with just colours and added the shapes later for added difficulty?

Quiet City by Leverpastej 2012-01-08T01:25:00

Loved the Weeping Angel style enemies. If you had a few different poses for the models to be frozen in you'd be into serious brown trouser territory!
I'm giving you some points for the audio just because the complete silence actually made it creepier.

LD23 — Tiny World

Just My Immagination by Proch 2012-04-24T10:25:00

Crashes for me as soon as the intro's finished. No error messages, Windows7 x64. Shame, cos this looks kind of fun.

Tiny's World by Topaz 2012-04-24T17:17:00

Nice idea. Waaaay too slow though, particularly with the length of the levels. Felt like it took forever to get to the end.

A Perfect Purpose by Siewart 2012-04-24T10:12:00

Looks great, and movement has a nice feel to it. If there was some actual gameplay in there this would be a really decent entry.

Spaceship In The Sky With Colors by fysx 2012-05-01T13:34:00

I like just about everything about this. Nice clean visuals, clever mechanic, perfectly pitched difficulty.
Nice job :)

The Great Adventure of Mr.Galaxis by TobiasNL 2012-05-10T12:33:00

Very nice. The graphics and audio really give it a great oldschool arcade atmosphere.
I'll add another voice to the complaints about the controls though - it's really difficult to keep track of which way your ship's pointing and aim with the mouse at the same time.

In Delusion by crippledgames 2012-05-11T10:57:00

Wow. Nice job. Loved the way it slowly gets creepier as the story progresses.

Around the World in 80 Seconds (or less) by gormio 2012-05-01T20:59:00

Looks good, feels fun to drive. I'd be interested to see what you come up with if you put a bit more game in there.

Zilla the Destroyer by deps 2012-04-23T19:38:00

I love this! If you do an expanded post-compo version it needs crowds of little panicky people to stomp on!

Lost Lapootah by orgarus 2012-04-23T20:55:00

Yay - a game I can finish! Funny :)

Little Sheep by Merkurius Team 2012-05-01T12:49:00

Very nice. Really chilled out and relaxing, the way the night/day transitions follow you around the planets was really effective :)

Quantum Entanglement by icefallgames 2012-04-23T19:59:00

Got to level 9 before my brain melted. Cool gimmick with the quantum entanglement, and the level transitions are a nice touch.

Tiny Castles by bitslap 2012-05-11T13:01:00

Smashy smashy is always fun! Bit repetitive though, with no real sense of control over whether you take damage or not, and the sound effects are really awful.

When Worlds Collide by AlwaysGeeky 2012-04-23T21:14:00

Nice job with the voxel engine, I particularly liked the Death Star style explosion when you destroy the world.
Seems like you could build something really nice around this with a bit more time.

Flea Circus by Edd Morgan 2012-05-01T15:35:00

Intro was nicely put together. Jumping feels slightly "off", and I couldn't get the hang of catching the swinging ropes/clock pendulums at all, but all in all not bad.
Could be fun with a bit more content.

The Tiny World of Pixels by Wampus 2012-04-28T07:29:00

This game makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. But in a good way.
I love how the utter silliness of the eventual game contrasts with the serious intro.

Five by Five by eventhandler 2012-04-24T10:43:00

This could be really good with some more fleshed out puzzle mechanics. I liked how after enough upgrades the spaces became free to put anything on again, helps keep the game going.

Michael is Myopic by Several 2012-05-10T15:39:00

Nice concept. Took a few goes for me to get to grips with the rules, but it was pretty cool once I did.

Recluse by chambers 2012-05-11T10:48:00

Awesome concept (could do with just a little hint at the start, maybe just "go right"), fun game except for the ants. Seriously, fuck those guys! ;)

Tiny World Racer by Kinokochan 2012-04-24T16:54:00

Visually awesome. The rings look really cool.

Not been able to try the multiplayer, but just driving around the track it feels like it should be fun.

Handling of the cars feels a little off, but then I'm not sure how a cart being driven around a planet's rings is supposed to handle...

Tiny Room by chaosBrick 2012-05-09T13:12:00

Needs way more manoeuvrability if you're gonna be chucking that many bullets at me, also feels really hard to aim with the mouse, particularly without autofire.

The Sheep Are Sinking by Gremlin 2012-04-23T20:48:00

Simple but clever. I like it.

TTA - Tiny Theft Auto by marnaouf 2012-04-24T12:24:00

Amusing concept, shame you didn't get a chance to do more with it.

Jetpack Pixel by Dir3kt 2012-04-23T20:37:00

Nice twist on the endless runner genre, and the day/night transitions were really well handled. Great job.

Giant Wizards from the Outer Rim! by tompudding 2012-04-23T21:43:00

Needs more variety of weapons, but could see an expanded version of this making a fun party game.
Took me a couple of minutes to figure out which was my wizard at first, might be good to have an option to centre the view when it's your turn.

Fracuum by TylerGlaiel 2012-05-09T15:06:00

Outstanding. Easily my favourite so far.

Catamari Meowacy by SethR 2012-05-09T13:21:00

I LOLed at "I'm watching you take a shower!" We need more Zorlax games now...

Shorted Out by HybridMind 2012-05-01T12:32:00

Nice job. It's a damn sight more fun than my first Unity game was.
Some very basic sound effects (zap on contact, maybe a warning buzz as you get close) would have really added some atmosphere, but the game itself is fun enough.

Rambros by Black Ships Fill the Sky 2012-05-11T11:52:00

Oh noes!

You used the same title as another completely different game.

Since there no possible way two people could come up with such a non-obvious combination of "Bros" and "Rambo" independently I am compelled to denounce you, sirs, as thieves and scoundrels!

Seriously though, awesome job. I'd love to see an expanded version of this.

Tiny Planet by CherryNukaCola 2012-05-11T14:43:00

So I take it you like explosions? :)

Burger Defender by Beerman 2012-04-24T08:37:00

You can also fire with left Ctrl, or download the windows version if you want to remap the controls. Left mouse just happens to be mapped to fire in the Unity defaults.

Burger Defender by Beerman 2012-04-24T13:32:00

So I'm getting kind of a "we don't like the controls" vibe here. Had a quick play with it and increasing the turn speed does seem to make a difference to the playability.
I've got a few other ideas for improvements so I'm thinking about a post-compo update towards the end of the week. Watch this space...

Cereal Killer by J0hnjwj 2012-04-23T20:09:00

Cool rotation effect. Restarts are a little slow given how often you die.

Lilac.27 by oddgoo 2012-04-29T10:55:00

Outstanding job! %0

Lilac.27 by oddgoo 2012-04-29T11:52:00

Hmm - seems half my comment was eaten by the internets. Let's try that again.
This is the first LD48 game that I've bothered to download the source for - you've got a bunch of cool stuff going on here that I want to steal ;)

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-05-11T20:54:00

That was fun :) Feels like a tiny version of Commando where you forgot your gun.
A few people have suggested the balance needs a little work (but then what's an LD game without balance issues?), but I think I see it as being an excellent first level for a much bigger game. Hope you do more with it.

Homedefender by Hopps 2012-04-24T09:18:00

Same error as Kvisle above : "Could not find the main class: me.hopps.Starter."

Mage Duel by Kitch 2012-05-10T15:22:00

Looks great, lots of fun. Love the sneaky way you got out of coding any AI ;)

Tiny Archaeologist by toaster 2012-04-24T20:41:00

Doesn't work for me either. I'm getting the same error message. Windows 7 Pro, x64

Asteroid Defender by Dr. Mo 2012-04-24T09:54:00

Needs a little more variety in the gameplay, but not bad.
The asteroid rotation works really nicely.

LD25 — You are the Villain

Happy Little Murder Friends by farmergnome 2012-12-19T23:22:00

That was great. Sometimes a little hard to tell which one is your character but I really enjoyed running around the little pixel city murdering people :D
Would definitely like to see a post compo version.

Doctor Spandex by Cássio Eduardo 2012-12-19T23:42:00

Took a few goes to get the hang of the controls but it was worth the effort. Fun game, the title screens really added to the comic-book vibe :)

Villainscape by Sylence 2012-12-19T21:01:00

Collisions seem a bit off and it could do with some warning of when the guards are about to turn to give you a chance to hide.

(Tie One Woman to a Train Track and Suddenly) I'm the Badguy by handCraftedRadio 2012-12-17T20:59:00

Hahaha! Mine is an evil laugh!
That was fun - only thing I didn't like was having to repeatedly hit the keys to move. I kept expecting to be able to hold a direction down, got me hit by a train more than once.

Obamapology by SuperDisk 2012-12-28T22:56:00

I have no idea what the hell I just played, but it entertained me.
Brilliant interpretation of the theme. :D

Tourist Trap by HeyChinaski 2012-12-19T23:05:00

Very nice. I loved the hiding by disguising yourself as pot plants and bookcases - very Scooby Doo :)

Invasion! by xgeovanni 2012-12-17T22:54:00

Not bad :)
Decent concept, but the ship feels way too big relative to the play area to be able to effectively dodge anything.
The upgrade keys could do with being a bit nearer to the main controls as well - 1,2,3 might have been a better choice.

Regnant by phaze0 2012-12-18T21:23:00

Could do with having a much bigger window - at 1920x1080 you can't really read the text. 2x scale would be much easier to see what's going on.

Wandering ViIllain by Almost 2012-12-18T22:18:00

I love how this looks, the blocky landscape is really cool. Just needs a bit more game, some populous-style terrain modification would work nicely.

You're a Bastard! by CappaGames 2012-12-20T23:00:00

Wow, what a bastard!
Awesome stuff - I loved his little "victory dance" when you successfully complete an act of bastardry :D

Goat Hate Jug Band by Jerre 2012-12-17T21:45:00

Amusing. I'm not sure the goat is much of a villain though, that band deserve to be interrupted!

For Greater Good by Deykoweec 2012-12-18T21:52:00

Wouldn't run for me, UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/frozendevs/ludumdare25/Dare25 : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0
Guessing it doesn't like my jre version?

PsyGoat by SecondDimension 2013-01-03T20:37:00

Balance is a little on the easy side, but that was fun. Laser eyes and floating machine guns are always awesome :D

Don't Look At Me by Xavier 2012-12-28T23:05:00

Looks great, brilliant atmosphere, just needs some actual "game" in there and you'd have a real winner on your hands.

IWKTP by pereubu 2012-12-20T20:00:00

Love the graphics, the music and the idea, the recoil effect is very cool. I just can't get on with mouse+keyboard for arena shooters though - twin-stick controller support would really make this great.

Disturb the miners! by JacksGamesSucks 2012-12-17T21:18:00

Movement felt a little slow, and I had a hard time figuring out how the walls changed - kept getting stuck in a wall I'd flipped onto myself.
I like the idea though, could be fun with a bit more polish.

Prison Escape by Tyren 2012-12-20T22:29:00

Damn, that's hard. Fun though. Like a few people have said, a continue would have been good. Gets a bit frustrating being kicked back to the start every time you screw up a level.

The "Great" British Weather by bradleypollard 2012-12-18T21:00:00

Brilliant simulation of the classic British festival experience there. All that was missing was someone peeing on my tent!
Love the minimalist visuals, trying to make people as miserable as possible without driving them away makes for a cool mechanic.

Konkey Dong by saampahlavan 2012-12-17T22:07:00

Clever, but I couldn't really get into the gameplay. Most of the time it felt like I was just throwing barrels at random.

Bag a Bride by Wuhao 2012-12-20T19:54:00

Gloriously silly with great use of physics.

My Days with the Princess by 138 2012-12-17T20:49:00

Fun little twist on tower defence there.

Gin Monster Bob by jimmynoshoes 2012-12-19T21:22:00

Heh, I've had nights like this.

Korruptor by Codexus 2012-12-30T17:46:00

Great idea with really nice presentation. With a little tuning of the controls and camera this could be an awesome game.

Conquer The Kingdom by DaGamesta 2012-12-20T19:25:00

Entertaingly destructive, the maxed out power at the end was great fun.

MARTYR by ahmed.majd 2012-12-19T21:48:00

"Iron Maiden? Excellent!"
Nice job.

Crime Scene by saulotti 2012-12-18T22:38:00

This is really very pretty indeed, reminds me a lot of Gravity Bone. Love the concept, really original.
Just the one negative point - it seems like when I restart the game after losing, there are no more murders in the second game - anyone else have this problem?

Minions by Mousseto 2012-12-20T20:05:00

Collisions with the platforms seem pretty glitchy, otherwise it's pretty cool. Would be nice to be able to restart without reloading the game.

Sealed Evil by Neonlare 2012-12-28T21:31:00

Slightly too grindy, especially at the start, but there's something really compelling about squishing those little victim dudes that kept me playing to the end.

Form of the Destructor by diggersworld 2012-12-19T21:09:00

This has absolutely no depth to its gameplay whatsoever and I love it. Impressively satisfying destruction :)

Hungry Alien by mikkelin 2012-12-18T20:26:00

I won :)
Pretty fun - those tanks were total dicks, kept interrupting my dinner!

Pathos by McFunkypants 2012-12-18T23:48:00

Incredibly frustrating - always a sign of a good puzzle game!
Great idea, well executed - nice job.

Reclaimed Empire by zazery 2012-12-18T22:58:00

If this was finished, it looks like it would be awesome. Everything that's in there - the models, the ship controls, the fighter movement - is really slick. You could really make something nice from this.

Do Not Help The Princess by sharbelfs 2012-12-18T19:57:00

Mmm, princess... Nom...
Cute - could use a little balancing but pretty fun.

Infidel by Winterblood 2012-12-18T20:20:00

Thief with Daleks - excellent concept that needs expanding on. Seriously, some Dalek voice effects would make this awesome "INTRUDER! IN-TRU-DER!!!"
Definitely needs some indication of when you're in danger of being spotted.

Hell Guy Hells It Up by TyrusPeace 2012-12-19T22:51:00

That was great. The skull/goat throwing seemed a little glitchy but it's lots of fun. You should definitely do an extended version with more enemies and things to summon.

Eaten by wzl 2013-01-05T00:47:00

Mmm, tasty!

Drillizer by stigmawall 2012-12-18T19:53:00

Fun little game once I got the hang of targeting the enemies. Awful, awful music though.

Centipede 2013 by robashton 2012-12-17T21:53:00

That was fun, really nice job. Shame about the sound problems but yeah, that's html5 for you.

Holly Jolly Pyromaniac by UndergroundPixel 2012-12-22T11:06:00

Graphics and soundtrack are awesome. Scrolling was a little chuggy, but pretty fun overall. Looks like it would make a great mobile game.

Hero Must Die by CireNeikual 2012-12-18T21:42:00

That was way better than the screenshots make it look. I was expecting Yet Another Platformer, but this is really clever :)
More levels please!

Cell 22 by Pitoum 2012-12-18T19:42:00

Awesome. Outstanding visuals and plays really nicely. Some of the guards are maybe a little trigger-happy, I got shot a couple of times before I could even see them.

Susie's Xmas Hit List by AdricZero 2012-12-28T22:41:00

This really seems like the soundtrack should be Kevin Bloody Wilson's "Hey Santa Claus". Fun :D

Unhappy Holidays! by GeorgeBroussard 2013-01-05T00:31:00

Fun little game. Those zombies really take some killing.

ANONHACK.EXE by BarrensZeppelin 2012-12-17T22:42:00

Teleport feature is cool, although it's a bit too easy to end up where you can't help but teleport into a wall sometimes.

LD26 — Minimalism

Ball & Cup by ohsqueezy 2013-05-09T06:30:00

The fruit/colour based scoring is a stroke of genius. The game is surprisingly compulsive - would make a great mobile game with the addition of some sounds.

Buggers! by recursor 2013-05-04T15:07:00

Very retro :) Movement felt a little slow, which made it difficult to deal with those little buggers stealing my food.

WhiteSpace by argo15 2013-04-29T18:36:00

Cool concept. I couldn't quite work out what the rule was as to which walls stayed visible after the pulse but I managed to just about make it to level 2 anyway.

Freedom by orangepascal 2013-04-29T22:10:00

Very nice. Cool puzzles.

Feint Signal by brxtr 2013-05-09T21:22:00

Nice job! Simple game, perfectly polished, fits the theme to a tee. I love the grainy film effect and how the bouncing keeps everything just slightly off from being perfectly geometrical - almost feels like you're playing the credits sequence to some late 60s spy movie :)

Rainbow Rocket by Zccc 2013-04-30T19:03:00

Nice. Between the colours and the drums it feels like you're flying through some kind of insane space disco.
Very cool control method - takes a little getting used to but it really works well with the game. Having said that, only some kind of devil person would fill a game like this with things that shoot at you. You monster.

Pink Haze by jwin 2013-05-04T11:19:00

Really fun. Once I got the hang of using the cover and popping up to shoot I had a blast. Make more levels! :D

CHAMELEON RUN by Split82 2013-05-04T15:30:00

Very slick. Loved the colour switching mechanic, really keeps you on your toes.

Huoheian by folmerkelly 2013-04-29T18:56:00

Excellent atmosphere with the sound and visuals.
I love the idea of the enemies turning to spikes but it needs something to force you to move around a bit more - seems like you can survive pretty much indefinitely by just standing in the centre and killing them as they come through the doors. More than one door in each wall might work.

All Fall Down by lambomang 2013-04-30T19:58:00

Loved the atmosphere, it really makes it.

Brian's School of Minimalism by DustyStylus 2013-05-01T21:47:00

Hilarious :D The game's fun, but my favourite part was Brian's funky dance moves on the title screen.

Minimalism by Kwrky 2013-04-29T06:20:00

Nice little one-button platformer. Being able to run up the walls/around the ceiling was cool.

Cubecatcher by zerebruin 2013-05-04T14:42:00

Pretty fun. I definitely think there should be some sort of warning when the colour's about to change, possible a couple of beeps or something half a second before so that if you're close to a box you have to decide whether it's worth the risk.
Might also be good to make sure you only ever change the active colour to one that exists on the screen and always spawn at least a couple of boxes of the active colour when you collect one - it's pretty frustrating having to sit and wait for the colour to change before you can do anything.
My first game, I didn't read the instructions and thought you had to avoid the potatoes - makes things tricky!

Block Disco by Jubjub. 2013-05-10T06:38:00

That's pretty great :)

Potato Dungeon by _Rilem 2013-04-30T18:34:00

Outstanding. The combat mechanic works really well.
That wizard is an absolute *bastard* though.

save the bunnies by arrowthefighter 2013-04-29T21:49:00

Doesn't run on windows7 x64 - says the .exe's not compatible

silly squares by lightsoda 2013-05-09T21:36:00

Loved the visuals and the music. Couldn't figure out the clue - the walls look all identical to me - but I got lucky and hit the right square.
The gauntlet just straight up made me want to murder you ;) Damn, that thing is frustrating!

REVOLVENGARDE by Andrio 2013-05-12T14:21:00

Very cool idea, the music and graphics fit the game perfectly.
Feels like it would be even better with an option for mouse control.

MiniJump by JayPC000 2013-05-04T15:15:00

Nice looking little platformer. Could have done with something to tell you that there's a double-jump - I died like 20 times on the first level before I figured that out...

Cylinder by Jacqueslelezard 2013-05-14T06:27:00

Love the idea, but the control layout was incredibly frustrating, with having to leap around the keyboard to switch from moving to rotating. I think a 3rd person view would work better as well, since end up having the camera right up against the obstacles a lot of the time.

(R,G,B) by KilledByAPixel 2013-04-29T06:28:00

Damn. That is really quite stunning. Think you've got a serious contender for winning this thing there.

I Dream of a Beam by ocmu 2013-04-29T20:10:00

Nice novel mechanic with the beam and multiple hit bonus. Love the explosions.

MINLIFE by DesignerNap 2013-04-29T19:10:00

Great stuff. Loved the space tea.

Arena by rogueNoodle 2013-05-13T18:26:00

An isometric arena shooter with a bleepy 8-bit soundtrack? It's like you made a game out of all of my favourite things. Except beer. Put some beer in there and it'd be perfect ;)

QbQbQb by rezoner 2013-05-04T14:55:00

Nice idea, beautifully polished. I love how the music keeps building up as you progress and the little butterfly showers.

Dehoarder by SmilingCat 2013-05-04T17:25:00

Impressively addictive gameplay there, which is kinda ironic for a game about compulsive behaviours. :D Nice job.

Skware by tankete 2013-05-09T22:01:00

I like the idea, but most of the time I just can't tell what's in the box and what's in the background waiting to be picked up. Lot of people seem to get it though, maybe my eyes are broken...

Perfect Crime by cmayhem 2013-04-30T06:27:00

Hah! I pulled his head off and blood went everywhere!
Great fun, although it seemed to end at random even though the timer hadn't finished - is that meant to happen?

Towers of Rage by robotality 2013-05-12T11:49:00

That was great. Amazing how much variety of characters you got out of just 3 pixels.

BASHLAND - Breakout Mario Mashup by McFunkypants 2013-04-29T22:46:00

That's... quite a lot of particles you've got there. Would love to see a polished up version with some more complicated/difficult levels.

._ by blufiro 2013-04-29T06:09:00

I love how every time you die adds to the painting. The controls felt way too twitchy for the size of platform you have to land on though.

TRANSFER_THEM by Sayaer 2013-04-30T06:29:00

Interesting idea - didn't feel like I had any control over the panels though. I kept clicking and sometimes they'd spin, sometimes they wouldn't.

Mini(malistic) Tank Battles by Toestee 2013-04-29T06:35:00

Flying tank! Awesome!

Super Minimalistic by spilth 2013-04-29T18:28:00

The jump physics felt a little iffy, but I like the idea of having to avoid collecting things.
I did have to go back and collect ALL THE THINGS, just to see if anything happened :)

Maximalism by Suyo 2013-05-09T21:49:00

Aaargh! What the hell is wrong with you, dude? That is just *evil*. I love it!

Room by Magdev 2013-04-30T18:46:00

If there was a "weirdness" score you'd have all the stars right now. Very cool.

LOOP by vandriver 2013-05-01T06:27:00

Wow, that was really quite impressive. Love the attention to detail in, well, everything. The leaves, the animation of the bird - everything feels really polished.

Reach the Moon by Nanolotl 2013-04-29T18:03:00

Took a little thinking, but I made it to the moon. Great job.

Shp Shft Mz by rzfmzn 2013-05-10T18:37:00

Neat idea. Could use a few more/harder puzzles.

DHRDR by johnste 2013-05-04T16:48:00

That was great. Really nice feel to it.
Somehow that little robot's got a lot of personality for something made out of two circles and a box. :)

Highway 00101 by r3d5 2013-05-09T06:42:00

Looks absolutely lovely, but as a few other people have said it just feels too slow to be much fun.

TunnelVision by wzl 2013-05-09T22:08:00

Very chilled-out. Reminds me of the bonus stages in Tempest 2000

Flipcrusher by Avant-Marde 2013-05-13T18:04:00

Way too hard for me. Good fun though.

Short Fall by Arowx 2013-04-29T18:18:00

Cool. Nice relaxing pace, leads to some oddly chilled-out firefights. Could do with a bit of an ambient soundtrack, I reckon.

Minimalist MAYHEM by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2013-05-04T13:41:00

Fun little shooter - loved the music.

OBASS (one-button-automatic-sidescrolling-shooter) by Polyganz 2013-05-04T14:26:00

Helicopter game with an auto-cannon! Nice idea.
Loved the visuals, could have done with some sounds to really give it some atmosphere though.

Minimalism - the shoot 'em up by CiderPunk 2013-04-29T18:46:00

Cool, a fellow libGdx user. Fun little shooter - you should have called it Spud Gunner though :D

ProductionVille by Blinked 2013-05-04T14:17:00

Ambitious, but you pretty much pulled it off. A few rough edges still (I don't quite 'get' the lumber mills - they keep producing even after the nearby trees are gone?) but damn good going for 48h.

Minianimalism! by lorancou 2013-05-03T20:02:00

Amazing - the world needs more games where you can build creatures out of butts :D

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Steven Seagal: Hard to SWAT by farmergnome 2013-08-27T18:32:00

That's excellent. Outstandingly polished.

Weapon Cooldown by Oana 2013-08-26T20:44:00

Looks good and plays pretty well. It badly needs some sound effects and some sense that your shots are having an effect on the enemy though. The 10 second weapon switch was a pretty cool idea.

tiny terrors by berkano 2013-08-27T21:09:00

Wow, this is insanely deep gameplay for 48 hours. Feels like I could sink hours into just getting the hang of this.

Life Flash Before Your Eyes by ObscenelyTrue 2013-08-26T22:02:00

I like this. I seem to keep running out of new words to click on way before I see any kind of ending but it keeps pulling me back in for another try, which is always a good sign.

RainbowBlock by Zaelza 2013-08-27T20:14:00

Pretty fun, loved the variety in the upgrades.

Royal Decree by darkshadow 2013-08-28T19:30:00

Great take on the theme, and the multiple endings help keep it fun. Nice job.

Chronobender by XmmmX 2013-08-28T18:53:00

Great visuals and the timebending idea's pretty cool. The platforming feels a bit floaty though, makes it really hard to judge the jumps.

Ab Solanum by doonay21 2013-08-27T19:38:00

Great soundtrack, actual game was let down a bit by the spotty collisions, and I couldn't get on with the control system at all. It felt too fast paced for rotational controls.

Ab Solanum by doonay21 2013-08-27T20:43:00

Oh, by the way - you were asking about an Android version of my game : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.beercave.ld27
:)

Spatium Secondorum Decem by GarethIW 2013-08-27T20:32:00

Nice job - I'm a sucker for voxels and this is a great example of why.

Streaker 2013 by ashdnazg 2013-09-02T19:42:00

Genius!
The concept is awesome enough in itself, but the little wiggle dance and the different headlines really make this special :D

10 Second Hero by Diogo Muller 2013-08-26T22:08:00

That was fun. It's got a bit of a Wario Ware feel to it with all the little mini-scenarios. Could maybe do with some kind of time extend mechanic, because it's always a bit disappointing when the timer runs out and I want to keep playing.

Meat Game by Boneloaf 2013-08-27T21:40:00

Arrgh! So rage-inducing! Great job!

Royal Defenestrator by BasmanovDaniil 2013-08-27T19:00:00

Wow, that sure is one angry queen!

Ten Seconds by motty 2013-08-27T20:01:00

That's just plain evil. Yeah, I cheated, very clever puzzles :)

10 Second Sculptor by nathanhoffer 2013-08-27T18:43:00

Very clever and novel mechanic there - some of those later levels get pretty crazy!

Summer Death Olympics by bufbot 2013-08-26T03:06:00

Single player experience is a bit limited, but I can see it being a fun game to play with a group of friends.

10 seconds til Midnight by nolann 2013-08-26T20:32:00

Another crash here. win7 x64, died immediately and did something weird to the brightness on my screen.

Missile Mayhem by JLeybovich 2013-08-27T21:21:00

Looks and sounds absolutely stunning, but the gameplay gets old pretty quickly - after the first couple of times through the sequences it didn't really feel like I was in any danger.

Count by Tap by justi 2013-08-28T07:10:00

Nice. Made it to level 13.

Labyten by rejome 2013-08-27T20:55:00

Took me a little while to figure out what was going on with the scoring - pretty nifty way of adding an element of risk to an old-school maze game, I like how every death is basically your fault for trying to run up the score too fast. Impressive soundtrack too :)

Top down zombie Runner by supersammy7000 2013-08-27T19:52:00

Not bad at all for a first attempt. Could do with a little bit of a delay before the game starts though - my first game I got killed before I'd even spotted the game window...

10 Seconds Before Flush by Geeks-n-chicks 2013-08-26T20:48:00

This is easily the best giant poo-monster game I've ever played.

Brainwash by ShitAndSon 2013-08-27T19:46:00

Sound and visuals fit together perfectly, real "bad trip" feel to this. Could do with some kind of indication of when you're firing, I'm another one who thought it wasn't working at first.

Mechanical Madness by Thermite 2013-08-27T21:53:00

Nice. Level design gets evil pretty quickly :)

Super Time Shoot by TheSambassador 2013-08-27T18:53:00

Now this has got real potential. Beautifully paced, weapons feel great to use and the sound effects (especially the voice) are spot on. Only thing that lets it down is the mouse/keyboard controls - I just can't do mouse aiming properly with top down shooters.
If you can do a version with twin stick controls you've got a real winner on your hands here.

MY ASS by DrunkenOrc 2013-09-10T20:31:00

Wow. Awesome job - if this doesn't win something there's no justice in the world.

Thorvald by FunByJohn 2013-08-27T19:07:00

That was great - brilliant little puzzle mechanic, you could make a much bigger game out of this.

Open the box by Beerman 2013-08-27T20:41:00

It does slowly get a little harder - I didn't have a huge amount of time to balance the difficulty properly though so if you get a lucky run of kittens and multipliers it can be a few levels before your score starts drifting close to the target again.

Open the box by Beerman 2013-08-27T20:42:00

Also, android build's now available on the Play store.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Legend Of Single Screen by limbster 2014-12-08T20:55:00

That's actually quite fun in a walking around having a chat simulator kind of way.

Octogonal Switcher by Jogy34 2014-12-08T22:13:00

Oh God, why am I upside down! This is messing with my brain, man.
Very cool idea.

Break the Limits! by Volute 2014-12-08T21:28:00

Nicely put together - if anything it's a bit too easy to get caught up in the mechanics and forget to watch the main screen, but it's a great idea, well realised.

Alpha Circuit by SecondDimension 2014-12-09T22:13:00

I hate those eyeballs so much. Nice job, really atmospheric.

Outpost: New World by BMacIntosh 2014-12-18T20:20:00

Nice mix of shooter with base building. With a bit more depth (more buildings types, new weapons and enemies) this could be something really cool.

Dungeon of Jest by Ithildin 2014-12-09T21:36:00

Pretty cool. Really like the level warping, it's a great way to interpret the theme.

WASD by ChrisMingay 2014-12-20T14:58:00

That was great. Nearly jumped out of my chair at "ZOMBIES!"

Skyfarms by GagaPete 2014-12-18T19:38:00

Pretty good. Seemed like it was too hard at first, but once I got into a rhythm of herding the enemies to where I could jump them I could keep it going for quite a while.
A score system would be nice, and yeah, something that makes it fit more with the name - maybe between waves of enemies you plant some sky crops and harvest them for power ups?

Metal Killer Bee vs. The Gangstas by zompi 2014-12-09T07:42:00

That's pretty fun. Tricky to get the hang of the controls but really satisfying when you manage to slice through a gangsta.

by gre 2014-12-10T07:48:00

Very slick - love the death marker idea.

Zombietron 2084 by svenardo 2014-12-08T21:15:00

Not a bad little shooter, captures the classic arcade feel pretty well. Autofire would be nice, and the collisions sometimes feel a bit unfair, but good job :)

Glow Drop by Gamepopper 2014-12-09T22:31:00

Very nice. Simple but compelling, like crazy multi-coloured bubblewrap :)

Galaxia by greysphere 2014-12-08T20:48:00

Excellent, really enjoyed playing this. The nested factory factory factories are a great idea.

SPACEBOOK by thatwhichis 2014-12-09T22:24:00

Silly, but amusing. Perfectly simulates the social media experience - in SPACE!

Claustrophobia by OldPeculier 2014-12-08T22:26:00

I love the lighting effects.

no trudno by Tanner 2014-12-18T20:02:00

Strange, but entertaining.

Grokageddon by lukz 2014-12-09T21:53:00

Love the chunky pixel fog of war effect. Always find mouse aim tricky in shooters though, would really benefit from dual stick controls.

PostFour : Reconstruction by monika 2014-12-20T14:46:00

Pretty cool. Like a few people have already mentioned, it could definitely do with status indicators for the individual planets. I got the the point where I had one planet left that was just surviving and it took me forever to find it.
Would also be cool if there was a more visual indicator of the amount and direction of trade flow along the route, maybe complicate things by having planets that hate each other and refuse to trade.

HexaQuest by qleonetti 2014-12-08T22:18:00

Hex based Desktop Dungeons. Nice :)
Like the randomised enemy names.

Warehouse Willy by Donutttt 2014-12-08T21:02:00

Nice little retro platformer :) Could do with the music being a few bars longer but really nails the mid-80s home computer vibe.

Snowball Swarm by Wirtualnosc 2014-12-09T22:39:00

Not bad, but why so tiny? The theme was entire game on one screen, not on a postage stamp ;)
Could do with faster movement and maybe a couple of waves of one hit point "popcorn" enemies before you get to the tougher ones. Right now it feels like you do too much running away and not enough attacking.

Nooo Bath Time!!! by Gabbmonkey 2014-12-09T19:42:00

Pooping to stay out of the bath - reminds me of Mrs Beerman's pet hedgehog...

Screened by hexagore 2014-12-20T14:20:00

That's horribly difficult, you're a monster. The music really suits it, fits the feel of the game perfectly.

1Screen by lonewookie 2014-12-18T19:58:00

Cool little micro platformer. Even with the glitchy physics it kept me coming back for one more go.

Velcro by camlang 2014-12-09T21:12:00

Awesome. Feels like a bullet-hell Super Hexagon. I liked this enough to move it from my "LD31 rating" folder to my actual game library, would love to see an expansion.

Build A Snowman by peejaygee 2014-12-18T19:48:00

Bit too slow paced, and it was hard to figure out where the furnace was, but nice idea. Could make a good mobile game with a bit of polish.

Dread Keep by Frump 2014-12-20T13:59:00

That was pretty fun. Great job on the gameboy graphics and audio.

Poo Dee Pie by Blue Thumbs Gaming 2014-12-20T13:39:00

Made me laugh because mentally I'm like, twelve :)
Actual gameplay feels a bit thin though, might be better if you were allowed a few misses before getting fired so you can get more of a rhythm going.

Start the Screen ! by bobombe 2014-12-09T19:50:00

It's a nice idea, shame you didn't have enough time to really polish it up. You should definitely keep working on it though, could be a great little game.

The Eternal Bee by palmar 2014-12-09T19:58:00

I can't tell - am I supposed to avoid the rocks and prolong the bee's suffering or crash into them to take the easy way out?
It's like, deep and stuff :)

Screen Escape by concalf 2014-12-20T15:31:00

Love the chunky pixel effect of the track, the ship doesn't really fit with it though. Could do with some powerups or collectibles to tempt you into taking the narrower branches when the track splits.
Add some suitable music and this could be really nice.

Bug in your room by Harley77 2014-12-16T23:03:00

Took me a while, but I finally got the bug! This is definitely the best cat-hurling simulator of 2014 ;)

The Unfettered Arrow by inkeystring 2014-12-09T20:25:00

Cool game. The controls looked a little weird at first but once you start playing they make perfect sense.
I definitely agree the arrow needs to be faster - maybe start off fast and slow down as you lose momentum?

Ship the Sheep by Bardikus 2014-12-09T21:59:00

Cool mechanic. Those wolves are *bastards*.

Lull by WatercressStudios 2014-12-09T20:51:00

Wow. That was really nicely done.

Save Xmas Gifts by Gread72 2014-12-09T20:10:00

Not bad. Simple, but fiendishly difficult. Being able to knock the elf down with a direct hit was a nice touch

Remote Control by Louisload 2014-12-09T20:19:00

Great twist on the theme - I got past the door and now I'm standing on a cloud next to a snowman - is that the end?

Microscope by johnbrynte 2014-12-20T14:04:00

Excellent - frantic and relaxing at the same time.

Snowbotron by Beerman 2014-12-08T22:04:00

I'm not sure why, but occasionally the game seems to lose track of how many enemies are left alive. If you find yourself stuck on a screen after you've killed everything then something's gone wrong and you'll need to reload to try again.

Snowbotron by Beerman 2014-12-08T22:05:00

Also, it doesn't work in Internet Explorer, because Internet Explorer. Will see if I can figure out what's wrong with it...

Snowbotron by Beerman 2014-12-09T13:57:00

@Donuttt - I've not played Blitter Boy. Looks cool though, and I can see the similarity .Mine's pretty much a straight up Robotron 2084 clone.

Snowbotron by Beerman 2014-12-09T20:59:00

Hey, I'm Beerman - where else would you find me but in the Beercave? :D
You get extra points for rescuing elves - I had a whole idea about having Yetis that capture elves and turn them into zombies (which drop exploding parcels) but didn't have time to implement it.

A Place in Space by lokijki 2014-12-09T22:20:00

Nice. The colour bleed effect and screen shake make the shooting feel really solid. Great twist on the theme as well, endless rooms in a single screen.
