Final Journey by Macroz 2013-04-29T22:09:00
Good stuff! I agree with some of the other comments suggesting maybe the pace be a little higher, but honestly? Very soothing at the moment.

lol, that ending is TRIPPYYYYYY O_O
good mechanic!
Yeah, can't decide how I feel about that reversal of the typical WASD/Mouse configuration. It's freeing to be able to use the mouse for movement, but I agree "the wasd shooting feels harsh in comparison." Maybe just need to let it sink in a little more; next thing you know this will be the default control scheme!
Great game! I lost all three tries, I show it to my fiancee? She beats it first try by discovering the 0 rations glitch, lol.
Her first action was to shoot Marvin. <3
Great concept and execution!
I enjoy these types of games, and feel like I still earned that last key even if I did grab it through the wall by having found the puzzle solution.
Complete, everything you need, not a whole lot you don't. Minimalist!
lol, yeah totally insta-died the first time- good stuff! See you used Construct 2 as well; used it for the first time this weekend. Think it'll be at least a prototyping tool for future design work.
I absolutely enjoyed getting these two friends back together!
Think I may be one of the first people to try it with new controls? Movement seems to be based on the direction I press rather than as previously described; very intuitive update. Definitely a step in the right direction!
36! I am bad. Very nice concept and execution, agree that maybe a slightly more balanced curve could really make this game pop!
Oh wow, I didn't even realize I could choose the next color by left OR right clicking, I was totally just left clicking the whole time and cycling through as necessary!
I was all, "Why there be TWO colors up in that corner?"
And THAT, my friends, is why you always read the instructions thoroughly. lol
Solid game!
WHAT IS GOING ON I DON'T EVEN
This is by far the most brutal game I've tried so far. I'm proud to say that I beat the first level. ^_^'
I am the villain?? D-:
I legitimately felt horrible beating both levels, lol! Great atmosphere!
Why would I want to hit 'M'?
Very nice! I liked the dynamic of switching to the bottom of the line. Why would anyone ever go back to playing right-side-up voluntarily?
Great take on the jam theme! I would definitely keep playing this with more levels and a little more time into it. :-)
This was a blast; I was very embarrassed!
Intriguing play mechanic, congrats on getting it out here!
12! I have 12 friends! I AM THE TUNDRA KING
Suuuuper-cute. ^_^
I'm not going to lie, I kept going until level 40. Because... why not? :-)
Super-fun!
I wrote a comedy sketch once about a man so lazy that he climbed inside an elephant and plugged himself in at the navel as an unborn elephant baby. This man... was my former roommate.
Our local zoo would not let us film establishing shots with him near the back side of an elephant. They were afraid "it would set a dangerous precedent."
Just a thought that came up while playing; I can't BEGIN to imagine why. ;-)
Thank you for sharing this.
I won the game! After I accidentally walked into the green door when I was supposed to walk into the red door. EFF GREEN DOOR!
Also, I don't know what any of the monsters actually look like because I'm a big scaredy and kept the light on the guy the whole time; if I saw anything at the edge of the light I ran the other way. :-)
I enjoyed the concept of revealing as little to the player as possible to allow us to figure out the layout of the levels. There was some trial and error, but not so much so that I found it disheartening.
MAKE THE STATIC STOOOOOOOOOP great motivation :-)
I got to the third level before I ran into some issues :-)
Agree with lulzfish_4, I like the concept
Really nice message, and a good response to some continuing controversy in game development. :-D
I found the sunset! Like the color shifting, loved the jump mechanic even when I would put myself halfway across the level by mistake. ;-)
lol, "Lose." in itty-bitty text! It's so... <i>understated</i>. Yes.
I'll keep trying!
PushmePullyu: "I wish there was a different way to switch colors to make it more hectic :D"
NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lol, I was fighting for my life to begin with! I encountered the bug once, but was otherwise able to play normally. I could see losing quite a bit of time to this one; already getting better!
Allow me to do an impression of my younger self-
Me: "Push the blue block. Where's blue? WHY WON'T HE PUSH THE BLUE BLOCK??!? ...I'M OUT OF BLUE LIFE!"
Aaaaand scene.
It's still early, but this might be my game of the year.
Oh wow. The sound, and when those... expulsions go flying. lol
I escaped the horror! Also, rocking chair. ::shudder::
213325; I think, that, my 'E' key might be broken. lol
I felt so bad for the single wall I destroyed! NEVAR AGAIN
I'm glad you guys enjoy, but I'm starting to worry that all of you are throwing yourselves off the cliff!
peggiosoft: thank you!
BipoleMoment: yeah, it's a little rough, because you want to just release your creations into the wild and let people walk away with what they find for themselves, but at the same time... I'm proud of my work and want people in the competition to experience everything the game has to offer. Ultimately, I'm just happy if anyone connects. :-)
Thank you all for taking the time to play and leave your feedback. I hope all of you are enjoying in some way!
igrowbeards: I agree, and I think I would like to develop this one further toward the original vision in the near future.
Fritzendugan: Thank you for the detailed response!
I'm definitely learning a lot from this experience and everyone's comments. Please believe me when I say I am taking them to heart.
!!! I made my goal of 100 games rated! ^_^'
I think I got everyone here; if I missed anyone, please let me know! See if I can get in a couple extra between now and the deadline. :-D
27 seconds, I winned! While getting beaten up. Really like the damage overlay. :-)
First play: that guy murdered me! :-(
Second play: jump away from that guy! JUMP FOREVER!
Read GertJohnny's comment.
Third play: I can FIGHT THAT GUY??! :-D
Fourth play: examining screenshots, notice different wall and floor layouts, attempt to create these layouts since the guy i'm fighting seems to be part of the game world.
Fifth and some subsequent plays: notice that destroying the guy does not allow his piece to rejoin the game world, thus eliminating the game world as you play.
Could just be me, but I feel like movement speeds up as I remove blocks from the outside of the game world?
Have not been able to remove all blocks yet; I am bad at things. :-(
Maybe this information will help someone else complete the game!!!
Oh hey, two more things:
1. Every block you eliminate from the game no longer shows up in the title screen, and
2. I think it lets you continue by hitting enter? The pieces do not seem to regenerate. However, may I suggest aiming for the head? I am out of green blocks, but grey floor blocks keep generating new guys to fight; I am eliminating them now.
Wow. The only things left are my life blocks, and I don't have anything to jump off of to get to the fighting guy whose head is comprised of one of my life blocks.
My title screen looks like "L . :"
To get to this point, I had to continue a lot and use the guy I'm fighting as the primary thing to jump off of, since not a whole lot is left.
I also think that there are still some invisible platforms/bodies of fallen fighting guys that made it feel like I was fighting on air for a long time, like some sort of Matrix/Crouching Tiger battle with a guy comprised only of a head and a sword.
I would love to know if the game has an ending, but from what I have been able to determine it is impossible for me to progress further. :'-(
After some consideration, perhaps that is the point?
I actually enjoyed myself quite a bit... Thank you for making this!
Nice mechanic implemented well! Never could beat level 5... ::looks at level 6 longingly::
I could shave this man's eyeballs all night long. o_O
422 clicks, woo! Niiice and safe here in the middle of the pack (367, good lord!).
Fun! Title absolutely not misleading.
I relaxed as hard as I could but the princess was in another castle. :'-(
"I'm awfully glad it's raining, 'cause no one sees your teardrops when it pours."
I have always, always been enamored with seeking keys in out of the way places. What a beautiful, moody game.
102! Music is driving; really enjoyed. :-)
Oh yeah, and uh, what ddionisio said. <_< >_>
Great mechanic for room navigation overlaying an old-school action-RPG style of play; I like it!
Wandered around the third map twice before getting to the key, kept getting to the exit without it. >_<
Sound is spot on. Solid jam!
The sound of a pack of Wiglues is strangely terrifying.
Nice minimalist graphics and love the audio; agree the collision detection is a little wonky and also I am super bad at this game. ;-)
Nice play mechanic.
Victory is won! X-D
Evil aliens doooooooown! I agree a hotkey to switch back to the base might have been nice, but still ultimately enjoyable :-)
I am both elated and disturbed by triangular blood. :-D
Unforgiving indeed! SAVE ME YELLOW CUBE
Also, the spikes look like Hershey Kisses, which makes me happy. B-)
lol, 78 days and then 105- i think it's finally about time i took a BREAK. ;-)
I see what you're saying! Similar backdrop and theme definitely; I wanted to include music but ran out of time and would have needed to be self-generated for the 48hr compo. Very soothing choice. Good stuff!
I lived! Once. And my score was 465. Huzzah!
"...a graphical Tour de France..."
"...continues BrothersT's fascinating transition from genre gamemaker extraordinaire to indelible chronicler of historic times...."
You can use these on the box cover I won't mind. Variety's Justin Chang and filmmaker David Fincher might mind on the second one.
Cuuuuuuute. I got all the treasures! :-D *clink!*
Also, I notice the title attribute of the page is "DumP Treasures," which is probably unintentional? But also made me giggle a lot more than it should because I'm mentally five and poop joke.
I am hospital trash! :-D
....::BOOP::
Hola!
I may be stupid, so please bear with me! But I am having some issue loading the game- when I open the page, several yellow boxes pop up on the right side of the screen, saying:
"ERROR PARSING JSON [loadData cities]"
"ERROR PARSING JSON [loadData plots]"
"ERROR PARSING JSON [loadData floors]"
"ERROR PARSING JSON [loadData persons]"
"ERROR PARSING JSON [loadData myPerson]"
When I click to play the game, the initial text on the screen swings up to disappear, and then nothing seems to happen. I tried this in several different browsers on my computer (including Chrome v. 31.0.1650.63 m) with the same result; also noted that Venks said was playable on a phone so tried it on my iPhone 5s with the same result.
Not scoring since I'm unable to play, but will check back? Or leave me a comment on my game page if you'd like more information?
Sweet, playing now! Built up a few in Sapphire City to start pulling some potatoes out of Ruby.
I agree some kind of timer on coin-gettage would be rad; kinda chillin' right now waiting for these freeloaders to pay their rent!
Also, NSFW EVERYONE- I TOTALLY JUST WATCHED TWO POTATOES IN THE SAME HOME ON TOP OF EACH OTHER! PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN! Keep an eye on that "Omar Thomas," if that IS his real name... -_-
Okay so the online integration is amazing for this time frame. If I may make a suggestion, and I'm sure there are a TON of awesome things you could do with this framework, but...
Well, let me guess first. It seems like money collection timer is done client-side? May I suggest making this server-side, so that people can collect (perhaps up to a specified maximum)coins at a reduced rate while they're not actively participating to spend when they are actively participating, and then increase that coin generation rate when players are actively participating? Thus creating incentive to be active participants, but allowing people to look forward to joining the play session.
Or it may be set up something like that already and I just don't notice all good!
Sorry for spam, just excited to finally be able to play and enjoy the concept immensely.
Oh. So that type shoots through my planet.
#@($&@#$(&!@#$*@#()%*@$(&%(@&#$(D-:! lol
I have toured your house and regret to inform you there is some sort of infestation; will not be renting.
And then I realized that if I held down the left mouse-button, my bow was actually "a machine gun. Ho. Ho. Ho."
Aw, I lost. I lost my face off. Hard. :-(
:-D
I believe I have consumed all the mortals, yes. Yes.
Yessss............
I just can't stop flopping around that crazy arm. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Loaded quickly in Chrome for me; also, once I figured out I had snowy bizalls it was all over. ROX!
A winner is me!
Thank you. Thank you for letting me play as the kitty instead of the doggy.
I live!
"...more O's than SpaghettiOs. #HARDCORE #YOLOOOOOOOOOOO!"
lol, for a second I thought this text box had correctly identified my misspelling of "SpaghettiOs" as "SpEghettiOs"(typo) but it still thinks the word is misspelled. :'(
"I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them." ;_;
I likes your games, yo!
Oh, right: P.S. Mad ups!
is the way. *serious FACE.* :-D
Thanks, dawgs, glad you liked it!
JoeProgram: It was an issue of which I was aware, so I added some extra white ducks. They do wander, though! I sometimes spend a minute or two waiting for a white duck to make his way back to me, all, "yo, I want food." I try to use to time for to reach enlightenment. :-D
Because they don't deserve a pond. >:-O
LET THEM GLIDE GRACEFULLY ACROSS THE GRASS, THEIR WADDLES FORGOTTEN IN THE WINDS OF TIME I SAY!
Zolmeister: passing out for the night but I'll check your entry out tomorry!
Do you guys want the song? I guess I could make it available for DL somewhere...
Song location added to notes, if'n anybody wants. :-)
Whaaaaaat? But the ducks they only gets one! I say to them, "You only get one, ducks!" Like IRL!
lol, thanks for playing everybody! I am immensely enjoying all of your games.
IS WHAT I'M SAYING, RIGHT??!
Right, talking at people!
JohhnySix: A friend of mine recommended the same thing! He also suggested the assholes gain weight over time, which also seems interesting, but he suggested that while I was in the middle of working on the leaderboard integration and I was all like, "eh, whatevskies, I'll fix it in post." Conversely, I thought about making the unfed ducks get slower and lose weight from round to round. As of right now, the asshole ducks get a.... +20? ish? Modifier to their speed randomization with every successive round, and even that is working okay but not 'xactly as I wanted it to so, y'know, ::shrugs::!
deathray: You can throw a little slower but you gotsta get closer to yourself (uhh...) than I would like; is tweakable, but don't want to mess with anything while voting goes on. :-)
THANK YOU ALL FOR PLAYING AND FOR FEEDBACK(NO PUN INTENDED). LD is bestust!
Hey thanks, both!
Jupiter_Hadley: You played my team's submission last LD; keep rockin'!
Wow- surprisingly tense! I'm a big scaredy. >_>
I looooooove the evil scheme scene and dramatic song change.
1/1 ball; would play again :-D
Also: +1 for being diametrically opposed launcher buddies!
ratboy2713: "I love the graphics style of this. Took me a bit to realize I was supposed to be powering up,"
me: "I can power UP??!? @_@"
Powering up ensued. Agree with JoeProgram, some hotkeys would be pretty swank!
OH and sweet beats, yo.
This game is relevant to my interests.
Really enjoying working my way through! Relaxing.
Hit this:
Error
main.lua:341: attempt to index a nil value
Traceback
main.lua:341: in function 'update'
[C]: in function 'xpcall'
Sad, but hope this may help someone else :-D
Hey, no worries! It was during the fast part or possibly immediately after; I believe I had just started to try and investigate when it occurred. I'm actually off to bed for the night but will try it again fresh tomorrow. I already think very highly of the game.
Tried it again today and made it to the end! Pretty sweet deal, homes. Thoughtful.
I enjoyed having un kitteh and also the poorness of all my choices. THEY WERE SO POOR X-D
HEXELS! Also there was a no kill challenge?? Sweetness; think I accidentally qualified!
Nice characterizations in such a short duration; felt for that Scott person.
Agree with several others here that door naming would be super-awesome in the beginning but once I had the place mentally mapped it wasn't much of an issue and door transitions were fast enough it didn't seem punishing.
Thumbs up!
Hitting the correct target was... disturbingly satisfying....
Uh, good job?! lol ;-)
PARTICLES! *bats at the screen like a kitty*
so THAT'S scratch! I keep hearing people talk aboot it; first time really seeing it. Thanks for the tip on Sees Inside button!
Also Simon much harder with so many subpixels '>_>
PLEASANT- i am successful :-D
played through twice, won both times, second time found brother :) nice entry!
NOW I HAVE
A COMMODORE 64 EMULATOR
HO - HO - HO
16290! Solid mechanics
Wait, THEZiggy? I'm putting that down in my celebriteis :-D :-D :-DDDDD
We are filling up the internets with words.... together.
::HUGS ASARATHA::
Thanks for tweeting, Magosis0! Due to last-minute nature of game, was unable to integrate many desired features, such as generated buddypals with distinct likes/dislikes, choices of things to post, other more "strategy" than "clicker" features.
Also lost time attempting integrate with Faceybook; assigned app ID but unable to quickly get login/sharing options enabled quickly enough- wanted for FB to be two cycles after Tweetsy. :'( :'( :'(
thanks peoples!
1. think i may make real social network? but full of fake people. so.... like a real social network. *BITING SOCIAL COMMENTAREY- ACHEIVED!*
2. ponk i came to enjoy some of the patterns that were emerging
is most beautiful thing :'-)
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO knocked him into the lava anyway. thanks for that!
In the end, t'was starvin' what killed me. ::nods seriously::
I DIEDDDDD RIGHT WITH THE BAR FULLING ARGHGHHEHAHHGHHAHHEHRHGHH (y)(y) <- two thumbs up
Round 5 okay that yellow ball sucks
ROUND 6 WTF WHYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEE lol
I just got over here, but congratulations on the theme ranking! Sorry I didn't play sooner!
I AM VICTORIOUS.
Then he began watching Twin Peaks again. And eating doughnuts. And drinking coffee. And he never slept or stopped eating or not watching Twin Peaks with the sections about doughnuts and coffee on repeat ever again.
I burned down my bar and got the insurance money, yay! :-D :-D :-D
Totally solid niceness; a little trickier playing on the trackpad ;-D
I made my wife play this with me and then I beat her at it very badly and she said, "Whoa," but I'm not sure if that was in response to the game or my awesome skillz at the game. 5 Stars, would play against my wife again.
Dropped to 1024x768; it DOES make the game much easier!
Hola! I am very good at finding light! However, even best of us slip up, and sometimes I forced to hit "continue" button; after this, at least for me, sometimes light does not come back out and I am sad? Otherwise is pretty happy!
Also, surprising not accepting ratings in audio!
LOL
turned on God mode for second play-through, scrolled down here to rate, hear fans engage on computer.... scroll back up O_O
"A bloody good time!" -thatwhichis, boxart
178.82; I'm terrible! And I kept saying to my wife, "THE WOLVES ARE EATING MY SHEEP"
I agree with Grindstorm! Also, my timer continues after Chad has won. ;-)
I really like the graphics and conversation snippets :-D
Hey, congrats on your first completed LD, yo! I died.... a lot........ lol
no you are the one who is funny @_@
:-D
SPEND ALL THE MONIES
I played this for a lot longer than I should have.
lovely little stealth game, gagapete- eating the pets was a nice touch :3
excellent!
TheZiggy my Marmadukian friend! Like your take on the theme; apparently I'm "not too bad." B-D
i am supremely bad at this game but really like the mechanics behind it
X-D is adorbs
Best part: catching up on my accounting :-D Fun!
solid, funny X-D
Yes more of this plz! :-D :-D :-D
I played The Beast Is Within You at Ludum Dare 33 and all I got was **SPOILERS** ;-D
Rehab's totally worth it. O_O
Audio is great! Something I might suggest is making the tools stay selected until you select a different tool? e.g., two plants want some suspiciously blood-like liquid, I could time it out a little better to feed them in one swoop with the same tool? Just spit-ballin'!
Very nice! Played to the end; soothing tune, good visual style and mechanics, would play an expanded version :-)
I really liked the audio! Nice pathing. I am a conscientious monster feeder :-D
Also: added a slower post-compo version of my game per request :3
swizzle! like it a lot; only thing that got me was the dog at the screen transition from screen... want to say three to four? but is complete, and playable, and soundy, and :-) good work!
Solid!
I'm a nine, woo! But... now I has to watch out for sevens... :-X
unicycle B-D
i am a singularly bad monster-finder. ;_;
now the song is IN MY BRAIN good news everyone i got us the votes :-D
