You got pretty far with so little time.
Wish the controls were a bit easier to use.
Allotted time for the setup and gameplay is making this hard to play. I really like the core concept though. Would work great with a little polish.
I was really hoping you didn't put a jump-scare in there. XD
ok, I wasn't exactly sure what this has to do with the theme but I'm really charmed by the graphics anyway. Funny. XD
Starting level is a bit unforgiving if you don't understand the controls yet. Very unique gameplay.
Got stuck fairly quickly after absorbing all the blobs, death animations take the speed out of things. Like what you were going for overall, would be interesting to see a version that has a way to recover from mistakes.
Nicely polished! I like the art style.
The music and lightning sets a nice mood. Like the lightning visibility mechanic.
Why are these cute animals dying! WHYYY! :( Polished!
Made it retro and simplistic without making it boring. good job!
I really like the art and sound, plus fun gameplay. Some talent going on here, go rate some games guys and get yourselves exposed!
Very enjoyable and stylish game.
That was actually pretty funny. Liked the music slowing down.
Fell in a hole and got stuck. Very nice use of contrasts and 3d. Minimalistic but still visually interesting.
My ears tickle!
Grunting mechanic is fun. Would've liked to see it work in a tad further developed game.
kept clicking away the tutorials by accident. looks interesting though.
Had some framerate issues. I like how the mixed abilities are represented.
I like how the difficulty scales up as the grid increases.
Can't really control my avatar, bounces around so quickly. Like the music though.
Pretty hard, nifty idea!
Found myself getting frustrated by the slow moving blocks and the game mechanics didn't come to me intuitively even after playing for a bit. I like the concept, game suits the theme well and I like you put the effort into some music.
Got stuck. Not sure what to do with the spiked thing in the tree. Cute block animations.
The game committed suicide after the intro.
Can't rate due to empty folder. Bookmarked for rating later.
Quite artistic game!
Looks great!
Thought it sucked you did not get rated, so here's my consolation rating for your game:
I struggled a bit getting past the initial dialogs but the overall game was interesting!
Humor 4
Graphics 2.5
Overall 4
Fun 4
Mood 3
Innovation 2
Theme 2
Audio 4
I've rated about 200 games, I'd count yours as definitely one of the more entertaining ones.
Neat graphics, had a hard time avoiding the bullets.
Oh you have weapons? XD I tried killing enemies by swinging my mouse around my character like a maniac to swing his little arm. Like the gaphics.
Some interesting things going on here. Definitely worth a play!
Escape ship was cute.
I love the cute style. You had a lot of attention to detail (chat ticker, the spud particles). Very nicely done!
Stopped playing after hitting a blade twice in a row. Found your narrating pretty funny. Nicely chosen music.
Very cute. Funny name.
Like the graphics. walking isn't working really well for me, makes it hard to play.
Interesting concept. Would've liked to see the concept worked out a bit more.
It's kind of a raw and unpolished, but it's still strangely fun.
Interesting control mechanic.
Duck Face :3
Lol! Easy mode gave me a wall of aliens, can't fight them XD
Not sure what I'm doing.
Can't rate as apk, need some instructions.
Bit basic, but lanes are a great start.
Why does the forest hate me so, WHYYyyyy.
Like the atmosphere and music. And Ghost kitties! <3
Starfish cow protector! or something. euh.. D:
Wall jumping is fun!
@Julian you might need a newer java version.
Interesting growing mechanism.
Not sure what the Jam rules are on tools. Seems like a fine tool.
WUBwubwub.
Reflecting block mechanic is cool though. Would rate higher if the avatar controls were a bit smoother.
Virus scanner reporting a suspicious file. I don't trust the download service, maybe you can move it?
Such cruel jumps @_@
90 m/s. I feel good about myself.
Runs for me (Windows 7 64 bit).
Couldn't get past the second set of platforms, I might be a bit too simple. XD
Cool first entry. You've done some interesting things with the worms and different weapons. I got somewhat swamped with the bats as the game went on.
Great little game. Strangely I liked the menu mechanic more than the actual game.
Basic game but pretty enjoyable.
This is indeed a rage game. Mechanic is very promising!
Controls are a fight. Great aesthetics.
This is throwing me back to gwbasic game style
I feel so relaxed now. ahhhhhhhhh......
Gnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn frustratingly hard! Nice silly music and sfx though.
You did a lot with little means. Thumbs up!
Not sure how to 'shoot'-em.
That's a great compliment timtipgames. Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Steve would never hurt actual animals. These are but a manifestation of Steve's inner turmoil!
Time for a game where you beat up Steve for beating up animals!
Not sure if it's finished, I can't see any zombies, bolts, weapon swings.
The bus-hopping is an interesting idea, The movement speed is not motivating me to try to reach the girl though.
Like the background changing, wish it affected the gameplay a bit more.
Windows 7 64bit, game crashes on startup.
Short but nicely polished. Nice graphics.
Very well made. Cute graphics.
But, what, huh?
The main thing stopping me from trying to solve this are the controls, would've been ideal for some drag controls!
Stuck at fruit count 0, nothing is happening, controls do nothing. (running Windows 7 64bit)
Interesting!
Isn't that art a blast from the past. Works fine on Windows 7 64-bit.
Launch yourself into orbit while jumping XD
Really smooth controls, game fits the Theme well!
There cannot be enough roguelikes in the world. You managed to simplify them even further! nice.
First choose your own adventure I've seen so far. Story had some confusing parts.
You are getting points just for the name. XD Clowns definitely need fixing.
Lol so silly XD You made me giggle.
Can't rate, needs some instructions how to run.
Can't review because of the file host (takes /ages/ clickign through screens, waiting time). You'll probably get more reviews if you move it to dropbox/google docs.
Can't start because of missing lib (after installation, hmm).
Could be nice if a bit further developed.
CAN'T MAKE THE MUSIC STOPPPP @_@. First local co-op game I've seen so far.
I just started chucking things out the window anticipating victory! Liked the graphical style.
Can't get this to start on windows. Can you post any prerequisites?
Bit glitchy, but more interesting than it appears from the start. I like the style.
Fake entry, ignore.
An alcohol themed version of the schoolclass icecream shop game. :p
So do I get a free Oculus if I promise to review this? ;)
Like the art style. Die a lot. cried a little.
Arghhh they keep shooting me! :C Appealing art style.
This game is hard!
The controls are so intuitive, overall a very unique piece of relaxation!
Unexpected. Really good job on the music, and following the theme. I'd get rid of the installer though, it errored out on me initially (issues with default destination folder) and most games come without installer anyway.
This game makes me feel like a ball magician!
Nice!
Pity you didn't have more time, with some music and evolution on the concept i'd gather it would've been one of the top theme fitting games. For the time spent it's a nice prototype.
ok why did you make me play this after midnight. WHY. :(
Clicking the button while on a line doesn't always register. I'm probably not very good at rhythm games.
Audio is great! nice tune.
I'm intrigued!
Unique way of room navigation.
Shooting works for me. Very unique and polished graphics style.
Enjoyable mechanics, nice polish! The petals leading you back are a neat touch.
Where are the enemies?
unique graphical art style, great gameplay (I like how you build your own army). Surpised you guys lack more ratings! go rate some games!
Got some porn spam trying to download this.
bouncy moon rover racing!
Good first attempt for a new platform and in limited time to boot!
Windows 7 64-bit Java 7, not working for me.
Concept looks interesting. Not sure if i'm doing something wrong but the movement is so slow it's making it hard to actually play.
Minimal but effective! Liked it a lot.
It's a lemming!
Who doesn't like to flop their 'moeba around! (I have no idea what I'm doing).
It even has a boss fight! Teehee.
For other reviewers, you can play this solo too.
I like the flashlight mechanic.
Very polished, good job!
Nice gritty atmosphere. Kinda wish to know what happens if I reach 1000. @_@ TAKE POTATO. TAKE POTATO. TAKE POTATO.
Took me a second to figure out the main menu. :p
10 seconds is pretty short navigating this with PC controls but I can see this would play pretty nicely on a tablet. Nice polished visuals.
I'm so confused! It was flipped on it's side. Silly game. XD
Pressing E in the main menu gives instant win condition? XD If anyone else is playing: that's not actually the main game! Haven't seen this POV used much before.
This looks really entertaining! Pity I was alone.
enjoyed playing this. Took me a second to figure out I needed to 'X' the tutorial, since the character moves and gets the flame click option even with it open. Ran out of time so didn't do all the murals, hope it ramps up the difficulty a bit in the end.
Would test this, if you could provide an installation link to VS2013 c++ debug libs in your comments.
You got me fooled for a second there, very nice job on the graphics!
Art style was great! The font feels a bit out of place though. Wish the intro text could be skipped.
Fun little game!
I'm a sucker for upgrade mechanics. Plus rainbows. I played this longer than I would admit.
Very stylish, cool concept!
The fuchsia hurt my eyes, but the evolving game mechanics were pretty nifty.
I am thoroughly confused!
The controls are very smooth, and you got a lot of different weapons into the game. It even has a pause screen. Zombies don't always die.
20 seconds isn't 10 seconds! I feel cheated! I like the movement bonus.
One point in Mood for 'love you' :D Didn't pick up on the pill mechanic, death animation would help you figure out what killed you.
This goes waaaaaaay over my head.
Who doesn't love cats! Different minigames every 10 seconds was a good choice.
Set it public in dropbox, can't test.
Complete game, the mechanics are a bit flat.
Very original strategy game. Liked it!
I think you hit innovation straight in the face! with a burly unshaven hero. Fun game!
Funky music. Not sure what i'm doing in game, but I'm getting a Monaco vibe.
Are you aiming for 1000 games rated?
Most of it is too dark for me to play. One of the few games that deserves a higher mood rating.
Euhhm. Euhm. Uhm. Uuuuuuhhhhhmmmmm. Uhm. Uh. Uhmmmmmmm. Very artistic criticism on life and ludum? maybe? It had nice bleeping in it?
Music was very well done, thought the doors were bugged counting down twice. Very fluid controls.
The thought blinking makes it a tad hard to read everything on my monitor in time to reasonably pick. I really like the mechanic though.
That was more interesting than the screenshot made it appear. Slugs are creepy.
Can't extract the zipfile for some reason. Tried using winrar and windows 7 explorer. Could you archive it with something else perhaps?
No game left behind, here you go! The jar runs with graphics for me.
http://ludum.mostlyoriginal.net/tmp/robotsvsevilzombiebirds.jar
http://ludum.mostlyoriginal.net/tmp/robotsvsevilzombiebirds-src-intelliJIDEA.zip
Looks like a resource loading issue from jar. Cheated by moving the files in your packages and changing the paths a bit.
Nice little game, plus death by bird poop is always funny!
Always nice to see these fledgling games appear. You've got the basics of a game working, keep at it!
I really should start reading text, I thought myself a genius being able to outrun that green cube. Then I tried just standing in front of it to see what happened. doh!
The premise of a multiplayer chase game is interesting.
Very artistic. Me like!
You have a talent for creating unique games with a distinct art style that are very clean and polished. Music great as always. Highest scores so far. Bravo!
I like how you did the calamari and chicken, could've done that with the other ingredients too; some of the ingredients are hard to find. The interface was well designed and the gameplay surprisingly solid.
Couldn't really test the gameplay properly due to lack of players, but overall I like the polished feel of it. The pixel art and especially the character animations are very well executed.
You're right on the bad form, I'll remove the link. Was intented to lead to a victory screen and a post competition download but haven't had time to create the page yet.
Link has been removed.
Hindsight makes the concept too broad for 48 hours. I ended up having only about an hour for the levels, and missed some of the core mechanics and polish needed to make the concept shine. But that's Ludum, you roll with the punches! I'll have to save it for the post competition version.
I love how the graphics turned out though. I'm happy with the end result overall.
Anyone struggling with the plasma doors, you can use the ball to send your crew to their deaths on them and trigger a blackout, giving you a second to run through while the panels recharge.
I appreciate the tips! planning to get it all in a post competition version. Please keep them coming!
Thanks! I hope I can resolve the gameplay issues in the post compo version.
Each grate has one Xenomorph in it. Xenomorphs will start hunting upon crewmembers passing their grate (you can see the grate getting damaged just a tiny bit). During the next blackout they will attempt to devour a nearby crewmember. They always prefer a crewmember over the captain, since the captain never showers, so when passing areas with grates, either time your move or have sufficient crewmembers to protect yourself from death.
Also, aliens will stay close to their grate, and when they've been fed they will not hunt again until one blackout has passed.
The escape pod not working is a bug, not sure what triggers it. Best way to deal with it until the post compo version is restarting the game.
To finish the first room: follow the tutorial, then wait in the back near the couches for the next blackout to avoid being eaten, run up to the two crew members, highlight them and 'e' to get them to follow you, wait in a safe spot for a new blackout, then run to the escape pods. Highlight one of the pods and press 'e' to order your crew on the pod. After that you can use the second pod for yourself.
Also, there /is/ a way to rescue your pet, and level three has Steve hidden somewhere.
@5outh: Unless you mean it stays permanently flickering, The tutorial explains there is a permanent generator failure, making it shut down every 10 seconds. One scared Ensign is watching over it, restarting it every time while he still can.
@timtipgames: thanks for rating :) if you have any ideas about the post compo version drop me a line ;)
@nthird: Thanks for the compliments! Not alerting player to the grate threat in any WAY shape or form was a big oopsy om my behalf. I knew the actors are not clearly identifiable but that the plants look like crew-members, that's just makes my day XD.
No game left behind!
@klianc09 First one to mention the ball. The ball mechanic was a great way to control the doggy, so I kept it for the crew as well as a joke. XD
I'll try a very tiny camera tilting effect instead, it should give the same look without driving the players crazy in the process.
Oh that's actually really nice!
Oopsy! Post compo version should be available for download now.
Not sure where it fits the theme, but that was very funny. Cat on the throne!
Splat! heh heh heh
Very unique mechanics here, good humor at the start, I love it.
Interesting puzzle mechanic!
So many Bosses! One of the few games that give a complete experience, nicely done!
Didn't really get how I was growing legs, what my enemies/friends or upgrades were, but that's probably just me. I liked the art style and the evolution-y theme.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh I keep misclicking AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Graphics and music are well done, I struggled a bit with the chosen key for jumping.
Silly game. Haven't seen this mechanic before.
This hurts my brain. Fuchsia!
Got the feeling it was running faster than it should, I like the scene design.
Wish this wasn't so short. Maybe I'm doing something wrong! Good take on the 10 second theme. Soothing.
I just love that style of pixel art. Entertaining lock and load mechanic, very tactile.
One of the more original implementations of the theme.
Did you submit to the Jam instead of the normal competition by accident? The levels start out on a big grid, if it started on smaller levels it would make it more appealing. The popping and chain mechanic has potential.
Nice game, reminds me a bit of the starwars boardgame that I can't quite remember the name of.
My left hand won from my right. It's now sulking in the corner. The fast arena game with randomized weapon seems like a good console formula if developed a bit further.
Visually interesting! Would benefit from easing the player into it's mechanics.
Picked the girl and got the boy, what cruel trickery is this?
Picking up ammo sometimes gets rid of your gun, not sure if there is some inventory management going on there. After a while zombies outnumber your bullets, so not sure what to do there.
Nice little game overall.
Nifty mechanic. Tetris platformer!
Haven't played it directly BUT I feel we should be able to vote anyway based on all the indirect material. I'm in love with the concept. One of those games that makes you curse not thinking about it yourself. Well done!
Trash entry, don't waste your time.
Avast is reporting malware in SDL.dll. Probably a false positive but maybe you could check it out?
Bookmarked for later. Hope you'll be able to upload that PC version!
NNNNNNNNNNNoooooooooooooooo I don't have a gamepad @_@. Now I have to go out and buy one.
How could you! :( HOWWWWWWWWW. Poor catsies. Silly game. XD
Ok, help me out here XD. Windows 7 user having some issues getting this running.

No idea what I'm supposed to do, write a small tutorial for us for the first level.
The music made it extra lonely! :(
Good job on the artwork, and original idea.
Did you just make me paint your house for you. @_@
I like the art, and the way you introduced choice in the adventure.
Spamming arrows wooo.
Control multiple actors could work for a game XD Was fun playing around with this for a bit.
Couldn't make the second jump either. Great art. Couldn't help but think of him as gariatric with soiled pants though, due to the moment. XD Some humor stars for that.
Ohhhh Pretty!
Very pleasing to pop the ships. Fun! Pity you didn't make your own art.
Kind of a cop out on the theme, but the game has a really nice mood. Fun to play!
Cute game, wasn't anyone on to play so had to hug myself :(
Very nice graphics. The rules are a bit much to take in though, I would've preferred a slower introduction to each type.
Teehee, good take on the theme, curious choice for controls.
Takes too long for new rows to appear, but the gameplay is fun.
Simple little game! Game focus seems to be lost easily.
Who doesn't like a loop-de-loop giraffe.
Really well done! great graphical style!
Very effective at setting the mood! Wasted my bullet. Any meaning behind the right mouse button numbers?
Cute! Don't see this type of game often.
Took me a while to figure out I was attacking the bullets. @_@
Very atmospheric game, I love the music! Simple but effective graphics. Got a bit stuck in the end but that's probably my brain failing after a long weekend. Thanks for posting this!
Pfew! That was hard!
I love the art!
You've got a future artist on your hands!
Very cute! One of the better interpretations of the theme.
Perspective wooo!
You achieved a lot with very basic mechanics, I love that!
Something really pleasing about seeing those squares pop.
Very humorous! Loved the sfx.
Pretty fun. Not sure if the high speed was intentional, but somehow I managed to do some accidental trick shots with the purple ball of doom anyway. ;)
I like the sound effects. My highscore is 1, because it's 4am and your npcs are satan.
Not sure how to trigger each type, but overall I enjoyed it!
Floor 16, killed 25. Why did you melt foxes into creepy aliens, whyyyyyyyyyyy?
Fun!
My girlfriend god mad at me for shooting the sad looking helmet penguins. thanks a lot! Seriously though, I enjoyed the bow-play, and the unexpected sky-penguins.
Haven't seen a rail game like this before. Was more fun than I'd expected!
Very dark, gameplay was fun, interesting music. I like it!
I'm in love with the visuals. Great work!
innovative! bit hard to control.
That intro gave me brain cramps. #_#
Woooo space game! As always you wield your music well. I'll play this a bit more after my brain's home.
I'm going to have spike filled nightmares.
@Devtactics Oh god did my sleep deprived brain really write that. Apologies to anyone with kids!
@timtipgames Playing it over and over made me immune to the folly of feedback! It's one of the things I wish I had a couple of extra hours to fix. Currently the player is forced to keep an eye on too many things.
Focus tips: Focus on the candy dispensers. Red blinking kids near candy or dispensers is bad, chuck those asap.
@rezoner niam niam niam! I like how people like the sound so much and it only took me 5 minutes to add. XD
@Dry Tee Thanks! Candy weakens teeth, so if you shake kids afterwards (picking up the red blinking ones, jumping around, wiggling the elf hands, any sudden movement should do) teeth start flying.
Has anyone reached the secret level yet? ;)
The violence, like magnets, it is magical!
I feel sad and twisted for eating those acorns. :(
I could've used this launch mechanic in my game. Why didn't you tell me!
It died! :C
I like the artstyle.
Really interesting mechanics, would be great to have this developed a bit more!
I like dungeons, and I like adorable!
:D O
:C .o.
It might be because it's almost 6am, but I can stare at that hopping all day. Teehee! *hophophop* and back *hophophop*
Great art! I'm glad my cats aren't giants.
scary! Small bug, the sound started to repeat after each restart.
This is a pretty fun concept, strange there aren't more comments. Go rate a couple of games!
I will never be able to sleep again.
I shot my own planet! I'm an evil man. :(
Pretty solid game. Go rate a few more games so you get some exposure!
Nice way to integrate the tutorial. Gameplay was more diverse than anticipated. Pretty good overall!
Give q*bert his nose back!
pew pew pew pew pew pew pew!
Am I special? I can't find the super pencil! :C
nice game mechanics.
Now i'm hungry.
You make it seem a lot easier to control on your youtube video XD Really great take on the theme, I like the art style.
Very nice graphics! Didn't catch the tutorial panels the first time around, so tried to rope-trick everything.
I love the rock phasing ability, really pleasing to use.
One of my favorites. Good job!
I'm so confused! D:
Pretty hard game!
77 walls, I'm a goooooooooooood!
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I'd have to sit there for several minutes just to get enough resources for the first building?
This breaks my brain!
Very polished!
This is all the therapy I'll ever need.
Really enjoyable! Tickles the right bones.
Impressive work!
Been looking forward to this game! The puzzle aspect didn't really shine through, but I really like the art and the music.
Whyyyyyyy, whyyyyyyy is there no way to escape. I have two fluffy white shepherds. They're staring at me right now. WHYYYYYYY.
Freezes for me after I click, using Chrome on Windows 7.
Hilarious. XD Very nice.
Very nice art style!
Curvature of the planets helped me avoid most of the danger, but eventually things ramped up to a challenge. I'm impressed with how you tied the music and sfx together! Plus who doesn't like potatoes.
Can use some work on the pacing, and kinda hoped I could explode my rocket in mid air to hit multiple alien rockets. Like the slow moving missile design!
Pretty fun, nice art! Resources came a bit too easy in the start, and then got steamrolled by the grouped enemies.
This game is too much fun! Think I played for an hour. After several tries got just under 13. Grr!
Love this! Some minor gripes, fish deplete beyond repair, and get stuck after a while (my units just hang around the heart and refuse to move). Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong. But love this!
Didn't get past Satan. Really polished! Not sure what it has to do with the theme, but I'll just assume that's explained in room 667. ;)
So dark, I love it. Really crisp graphics.
Fun to play! Some letters are hard to read which made the typing a bit frantic at times. ;)
That moment when you try to get the plane and it actually works. The splurgh sound made it for me, especially trying to imagine you having to perform it.
Don't play this with earbuds, i'm bleeding! D:
A game that requires keyboard control, what do you think we are, programmers?
oh. :D
Snowman woooooooo
Having issues running this in Chrome, can't get out of the main screen.
Very pleasing to dig!
Really neat animations! Difficulty is pretty high.
I like the aesthetics. there's something fun to the idea of space-shoveling. Would love to see a 3d exploration game in the same style.
Cut short, but I like the concept!
Never thought running around as an ant is so relaxing.
Slow drilling was a bit frustrating but after I got upgraded it was enjoyable. Really like the music.
Bonus tip for comment readers (love you!): Click the queen repeatedly for some extra bonus coins.
My brain explodered!
This game makes me feel old and slow! Wheeeeeeeee.
Good application of the theme!
The charge mechanic seems a bit out of place but nifty idea! Nice interpretation of the theme.
Like the graphics!
My only gripe is freezing in place while attacking. Really polished in art and character movement.
So fast @_@
Wonderful and also somewhat depressing when it dies. :( Poor penguin.
Got stuck in the wall at the start. Like the style of it. Sprite work is excellent! I'd love to see more of it in the future.
Played this a couple of times, fun! Also, I have developed an intense dislike for tiny worms that turn on a dime. @_@
Pretty!
The style is reminiscent of something I played a looooooong time ago but i'm not quite sure what. Like it though!
Probably want to rename your 'Web' link to 'Windows' to get people to review this.
Cutest mole ever! Like the artwork.
Got stuck in the wall. nice to see a 3d game though!
One of the few games with a solid mood going! Well done.
Interesting gameplay, pretty polished!
HOP HOP HOP HOP HOP HOP HOP HOP boooooo HOP HOP HOP HOP.
Puff tails on frogs, what will they invent next.
Simple but entertaining game! Had to F5 a couple of time to get a good start.
Nifty looking background! Plus explosions.
Got 5 points! There's nothing harder than actually getting something together and finished in a weekend, especially when still learning a new skill. Good job!
Pretty hard!
Aside of the title being a bit too early (tisk), the main game mechanic is fun.
Bit unconventional with the controls, but the manual aiming felt novel. Unique atmosphere!
I'm a sucker for dwarf fortress games! Bit bare compared to it, but this UI is way better. ;)
My feet are smelly.
First off, that thumbnail creeps me out to no end. A really creative take on the theme though, this is a great example of how the setting can make a simple game awesome. Almost wanted to lose just to see your face contort.
Great music!
The sounds, so funny XD
That's sure one trunk armed high heels wearing dude!
Didn't load properly the first time (everything invisible), a quick refresh fixed it.
Have the same issue as Kayelgee. Windows 7 64-Bit.
For anyone getting stuck initially, drag your mouse between the planets.
Very nicely done! Interesting mechanic too.
Very responsive controls, wonder why this hasn't gotten more reviews yet! Go rate some games!
Very nice! Original idea, and polished!
18 lightyears!
I didn't get very far. Innovative as always though!
I love me some tower defense!
I got a glitch where one of the planets spawned over one of the others, making it hard to play on, interesting mechanics though!
Added some hints to description, to get people started!
@DragonXVI Brainslugs are my favorite aspect of the game. :D
@reidrac Thanks! Ran out of time for sounds, so had a 10 minute yell things into the mic session. ;)
Very original! I like it.
Like the teleport-in effect!
As not-god, I have no clue what I'm doing!
Always nice to see some shaders applied right!
Pew pew pew!
Professional art here, i'm impressed!
For anyone else getting stuck at the first platform, you can double jump!
Very interesting, I like the art style.
-so loud @_@-
Why are the yellow fluffy things so sad! I don't want to make yellow fluffy things sad! Why are you making me make yellow fluffy things sad!
Bonus points for singing. XD
You carried on, that's all that matters! Love to see what you'll create in the future!
Very well thought out game mechanics, I enjoyed playing that!
I think the game runs crazy fast, after clicking the play button all I hear is a crashing noise and back to the menu!
Pew pew pew!
Ah the rare multiplayer game, always a tough to get a critical mass of players. Good on you for getting a networked game done though!
Tried but nobody on, rating by the Youtube video!
Neat game!
Is there some way to make it a bit more responsive? I've tried Firefox and Chrome, but it's really slow. Coming back to this one later!
That's what the inside of my head looks like! D:
Best graphics so far! Good job.
Awww no more enemies come after the first round. Love me a typing game though!
Didn't realize the mouse can tweak the escape vector, got me puzzled for a bit! Got stuck in the second system, my earlier vector change caused my ship to immediately explode when hit by the skyscrapers of the planet I was at. XD
Interesting game overall! Very pleasing.
Stuck throwing a void ball through a portal until you die, it's exactly like my day job! D:
Well thought out elegant mechanics! very innovative.
Happened to have python installed, maybe you can add some instructions to install python?
These politicians are eager to fire me!
For anyone who gets stuck, 'R' is the magical key! Bit short, fun mechanic!
could just be me, having trouble understanding what I'm doing! Would like to play this again but with some mouse controls. :o
Would've been great if there was some form of progression, right now all the minigames seem a bit disconnected. Not bad though!
That twirly icon rainbow music is the best!
Holy crap that's one huge download.
I have lost my pony! :( Nice music!
Scrolling is indeed fixed! Nice little game.
Don't you hate time constraints. You are so close to a good game! The game has potential and the basic setup is solid. I like the overall idea, all it needs is some polish in the feedback department.
Jan Willem Nijman from Vlambeer has some great tips that would are easy to implement in a game like this, worth the watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U
NB, I would play a post-compo version if you made one!
so hard!
Really hard, but the truck is a joy to control. Makes it a fun experience!
I love cookies AND cookie monster!
Like the monster animation and the canopy opening up!
Tip for new players: exit the first screen to the right.
Really fun gameplay!
Not sure what to do, but i'm reaaaaaaaally glad this isn't a jumpscare! Or is it. D:
Like the story, not certain how I can actually defeat the monster, he takes down my towers easy!
As always very innovative. The jump-pull mechanic gave it a real sense of action!
Hope to see a play link later! :)
11000 points. Would love to see the sword mechanic developed further!
Wow, surprisingly interesting art style when you reach night! Nice concept.
Could only get the Windows version to work. Web doesn't function on Chrome (security and applets).
Haha the tears when you fling it. Very funny ;)
Interesting way to flip things around!
Good way to get people immersed in your daily life. Interesting take on the theme!
They get me down so fast! Nice idea. Good art!
Tried progressing (if that's in) but I always died from killing the monsters. Looks pretty!
This is really fast! My empire perished quickly. Love the music.
Very reminiscent of old PC ascii games!
Solid game, kind of creepy!
Nice level-up system. Great concept, and strangely a lot like parking a car!
Very cool! Nice polish as well.
So hard!
Windows version worked fine for me.
That's a really cool twist on the theme! Funny as well. Good job!
Fits the theme very well. Unique gameplay. Good job!
Disturbing but solid gameplay.
Bit slow for me, but I like the art and sfx!
It's a bit too slow to keep me playing, the art takes me back to early PC days though, nice!
Unique mechanic! I'm not very good at it though.
Axe Murder Simulator! Pretty hard. The failure state is pretty sudden, didn't manage to kill any :(
Monster looks a lot cooler in game! Screenshots don't do it justice.
Unique idea!
Not certain what to do, but very atmospheric! Nice use of shaders.
Marching didn't work for me, pretty game though!
cute!
Not the game I expected from screenshots. Figured it was a some form of board game! Delicious art.
That was amazing.
Bit loud. Like the art!
Dialogs made it hard to play for long. Places to be! Like the overall idea though!
Bit finicky with controls, I'm a stickler for angled pixels though!
Very original!
Very cute! Love your take on the theme.
Pretty impressive for a first game!
23 kills. Song managed to get my blood pressure up! I can appreciate the effort put into this, bravo!
You'd probably get more ratings with an installerless version. Hard to control! Like the heli art.
Got a bit of a salad fingers vibe because of the music. Made with the first version of your own ECS, very impressive!
Funny!
hard!
Pretty interesting concept, you've got a lot done!
The game would benefit from some feedback upon hitting things, Knights shaking, blinking, that sort of thing!
Leaped out of the map. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Uh, the controls were pretty smooth, I'm a bit fearful revealing I don't know anything about the meme fueling this game. D:
Very pleasant slicing action! Love the 2nd menu item XD.
Worked fine here (Win 7). Missed some counterbalance to just making a killbox. Like the overall concept!
cute waggle!
Needs some ramp up! Unique idea.
Can't read anything, but I like the concept!
Really fun!
PC version is pretty unplayable. Pretty though!
Very cool idea!
Fast and funny. Pretty well done!
Always surprised at your talent at picking up any style and making it appealing. I'm in love with the monster cutscene.
Like the gameplay, cute art!
Looks interesting, enjoy these toy-like games. Am unable to switch to different block types, no clue what to actually do!
Original idea! Reverse angry birds. Would give some gratification if the game gave a bit of feedback when the block lands correctly.
Got a flashback making qbasic games with half block characters in text mode, pixels are about the same size!
Adding floor numbers would've helped with the stairs, i', still not sure if I actually climbed them or just teleported sideways randomly.
Cute little game! Hold button to throw the apples further.
Enjoyed the overall concept! Mechanics are easy to pick up.
Like the concept! With a bit of polish it would be a great game.
Mainly the non standard controls, plus found it hard to keep track of what's happening on the other side.
The guns would feel a bit more satisfying and effective by increasing enemies and just making them weaker. If you are interested, Vlambeer made a great video about tiny tweaks to improve your shooter, check it out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U
Hope you continue the LDs!
Think I got injured IRL trying to escape from the following creatures! I really liked the retro feel, reminds me of Frogger for some reason.
If only the eyes googly!
Blue screened. Like the logo! ;)
Love the mystery of it all, and taking things apart!
Now I've got a spaceship but no slaves :(
Why do they chase me! :( Would've been nice if the enemies didn't spawn right in front of you out of nothing.
Enjoyed playing that!
Really cute graphics, love the music! Basic game mechanics are very interesting. Feel the game would be better without the time constraint, the controls are hard enough as it is and the puzzle mechanic already provides a lot of meat.
There's some edge blurring going on that takes away a lot from the art. Try disabling all the aliasing options and scale your art to (multiples of) screen pixels.
Cavemen willies. D:
Ok i'm not sleeping for at least a week. D:
Wait, a shopping game for tentacle arm Cthulhu!? Initially thought I had to buy gifts to make the other shoppers happy, but couldn't find a mobile phone. The interaction mechanic is really original and would definitely make a good core feature for a game.
Bit of a phobia trigger! I love the diver's animation and the water particles are a nice effect. Couldn't really get the controls to work for me (would help to see the controls in the main game screen constantly perhaps?) so the cork placement ended up feeling a bit random.
Heya guys! Thanks for all the kind words. We'd love to fix some of the issues but in the spirit of the Jam we're just rolling with the flaws.
> **What the hell is going on? Why all my vegan dolphins flew away from the waterworld(tm)?**
Read a book!
> **Can you lose? Does your planet inevitably become an ocean world which happened on both of my playthroughs? **
You can lose! kill all your little guys. The cure life card makes this hard though, plus some of the really destructive cards are probably not destructive in the way you'd need.
> **the narration in the beginning sounded interesting but was a little too quiet compared to the music. Maybe turn it up a notch and add subtitles and that wouldn’t be a problem anymore smiley.**
_"On a tiny planet in the middle of a great and wondrous cosmos, there stands a tribe of primitive millennials. They strive to achieve something truly amazing, to be remembered for years to come, lest they be wiped out and forgotten, leaving behind only ruins. It’s in fate’s hands now, so let's see just how far they get...."_
> **It doesn’t feel like there’s much of a game here yet though**
This is the biggest design flaw we discovered early on. We decided just to roll with to see what could be done. We had most fun playing around with the sandbox, and the card mechanic was fun but random, plus it didn't really work in a gameplay sense. So we added the goal of unlocking world-editing achievements, rewarding players for sticking with it. Even then there are a couple of tools/achievements we didn't get to add due to time constraints.
:warning: **SPOILERS BELOW** :warning:
If you're reading this you probably played the game already. Here are some hints how to get the achievements. Click on the achievements and then on the planet to affect it!
- Skull (not a tool): Do not play the cure death card before getting this! Kill all your inhabitants. Spawn a volcano and wait for everyone to fall in the gaping big bug-hole where the volcano is supposed to be. :p - Dolphin (Water tool): Try to convert the planet into water, and turn everyone in to dolphins afterwards. - Lava (Lava tool): Flood a large part of the world with lava. - Destroyed planet (Air tool): Kill most of the planet 'dirt'. ICBM's, waterworld then hollow world, lots of options here.
What an amazingly cute game! Got to 73 points. Nice to see a fellow LibGDX fan!
LibGDX supports web platform which could help you get your game to more players! LibGDX's web target doesn't take much effort once it's set up, if you generate a new libgdx project and check out the difference in the Gradle files compared to yours it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
Why am I leaking! Why am I dating cans! I'm so confused!
Liked the overall feel of it, wasn't smart enough to get past the catapult bit. filled up one side with (tomato?) cans and then died, was unable to get on it after that.
You made me shoot cats! :(
The graphics instantly drew me in. Not sure if the movement is linked to framerate but the cats move around crazy fast and take a lot of hits to kill. Was only able to finish level 1 after getting a cluster of DNA spawn nearby. Second level got really busy all of a sudden. The mechanic is interesting, would've been easier to process if the powerups were visually distinct from the enemies or perhaps more like a triggered ability balanced out by power.
Here's a :cookie:
Like the music! I couldn't get my hive to start up. The core mechanic is solid and potentially a lot of fun, If you polish the communication with the player a bit you could really get it to shine! Something like:
- Remove the 'max bees' indicator; I thought 30 bees didn't like me enough to come help. :'( snif. - Get rid of the actually assigned vs available bees. At least early on the 'quota' mechanic didn't seem to add anything and made the game a little harder to understand. Just have idle bees rotate in a standby pattern above the hive. - Communicate bee death, and why they die. Like have them drop upside down on the hive for a bit, cute argh sound, that kind of thing. - Perhaps also add different bee appearance for each role, just a an extra hint what each hive entrance does. Little helmet on the guards, carry little jars of honey, that sort of thing. - Same with the weather. Make them sweat, look tired, something that shows the player what the effect of weather is. - What is the hexagon icon? Number of larvae? Maybe just display this on the hive itself by adding extra hexagons.
There's a lot of potential here. Keep at it!
Oops, double post. Sorry!
Very funny little game. Despite the title tried squashing people first. oops!
Pretty moody! Struggled a bit with the gameplay but the aesthetics make up for it!
Robocop in super mario world! Controls feel nice. Shooting the enemies feels a bit unfulfilling, a bit more feedback or more weaker enemies could help that. Awesome music!
Love builder games like this! The design for coal is really nifty. Sucks that you lacked the time to get the cost mechanic in, are you considering making a post compo version?
Thanks for all the comments everyone! Hope some of you reach (and beat) the end, it's our favorite bit!
Windows version live. Should perform a bit better (if it launches ;).
The mechanics are well executed; lots of variation on the enemies, clear moments to boost ship systems. Love the art. Very colorful!
Got a bit overloaded by the control scheme. Nice aesthetic! Feels like there's loads to do.
Couldn't manage to kill the robot; a power indicator would've helped me gauge how well I'm doing. Interesting use of text to speech!
You managed to get a lot of mini games packed into this! The Activities planner could be a bit more accessible with some simplification (less numbers, just have gain/loss icons for each activity). Wasn't really sure how my performance at the mini games affected my scoring, some feedback there would've been helpful. Some pretty fun mini games!
Stopped after a few minutes of maze; other people want to be rated as well. ;) Awesome idea combining platformer with cookie clicker!
Unique design!
Right balance of features and polish. Hard but fun!
Love the bad/good thought idea. I had some trouble understanding the 'reloading' mechanics. Maybe having the good/bad thoughts appear as spawned move-over pickups would make the game and control scheme a bit more traditional/intuitive. You mention mistakes. To me a big part of the Ludum is about confronting your limits and growing from it. It's great fun leveraging all the things you've learned in your next game.
Even if the game didn't end up where you wanted grab that glitter anyway, you might surprise yourself.
The music brought me to the edge. Spamming space launched me into space, what's not to like!
Love the controls, very smooth and satisfying to shoot!
Neat little puzzler. Haven't seen this mechanic before. You managed to keep things very intuitive!
@hadi-danial mind posting a screenshot and some info on what device/browser you are using to play the game?
@nadi-danial ah that helped reproduce it! :) Thanks.
Fan of ASCII games! Not sure where it ties in to the theme but I killed some dragons. :)
It made me think about the future of the planet. Why did you make me think. Whyyyyyy! 10/10
Starts very slow. Like the concept!
Cute art! Feel like there could be a bit more milk or some passive regen, keep getting stuck early on.
Cheers for trying something risky. :) I struggle playing but there's definitely a gem hidden in this.
You made a hooligan killing machine... out of a Delorean?!? Scored 507 :)
This game sure has a personality! The levels are very snappy. Enemies could benefit from some tweaking. Combat song is amazing!
Very cute art, solid mechanics. It just needs some polish on the controls to make this a pretty fun game! if anyone reads this after giving up on the web version, it's worth playing the desktop version.
I like the core mechanics! The amount of boxes at the start feels daunting. If the protagonist moved a bit faster, and picking up / dropping off could be click-less, perhaps start with a smaller archive, start with red and introduce the other colors gradually, could be a really fun game!
*clickclickclickclickclickclickclick*Piewpiewpoewpiewpoewpiewpiewpiew!
Very cute!
I'd love a just-fly move without the oxygen mechanics.
Right now for a beginner the enemies are a bit hard to deal with. The basic game mechanics are solid, with a bit of tweaking it could be great fun! Got about 480 points.
Minimalist but very strong mechanics. My favorite so far!
Like the art!
Hi @rongo-matane, your feedback is making me want to spend a couple of days on polish!
The game lacked a clear goal initially so we spent the remaining time adding the story instead of going for a solid polish. A game like this fits a 7 day jam better but we got stuck on the concept during brainstorming to go ahead with it anyway.
Thanks for playing it until the end!
The controls feel nice and responsive! Core loop is entertaining and minimalist theme works great. Wasn't really sure what ends the game, first play it ended in the first few seconds, later I got to play for a few minutes. The traps felt a bit counter intuitive (symbols of saving money make you lose money).
You sir, have a very big brain! Innovative and more fun than the screenshot suggests.
This turned so sudden it gave me whiplash. Thanks!
What a throwback to bulletin board system days. Puzzles are fun and not too hard, and the progression scratches an itch.
I spam-clicked past the first two upgrades by accident. Clicked 1700 times before I figured out you can actually upgrade the buildings. That's when the game started to become fun! Probably worth a line at the top of this page so more people get to enjoy it.
I spent too much time getting the cart unstuck from a wall. Beyond that, the premise is cute and the core mechanic makes me want to play it more.
Great example of a game not having to be complex to be fun. The game mechanics are smart and effective. Well done!
Love it! The puzzle element works great and the ending was well executed.
Cute! Everyone is so happy in this game.
I suck at this, keep gliding into holes. Good pick for music!
Very intuitive and even fun! You really nailed it with the mechanics. Good job.
Dachshund men, cat ball, leaving a very very confused player! Pew! hehe.
As it stands now I feel I can't really control the ship properly. Maybe if you combine more traditional controls with a requirement to tap controls to a rhythm would make it more intuitive to pick up? I like the rhythm when you do make a combo.
Part of the screen seems to be out of the viewport for me (2560 x 1440). As a workaround had to drag the window up and to the left of my screen. Funny game, i'm too slow to get a delivery done though.
Couldn't get past the first attack part, not many credits and didn't really know what the towers did to counter them properly. The style is interesting and feels like it could be fun as a full game.
I'm bopping left and right in my chair to the beat right now. Bop bopbopbop bop BOP BOP!
I think tonight i'll be clicking imaginary rabbits in bed.
Wooo another odb user. :) Consider adding your game to https://github.com/junkdog/artemis-odb/wiki/Game-Gallery
This game is surprisingly fun to play.
Got a bit overloaded with all the keys. Very pretty fluid fighting and fx.
Couldn't get past the first gap! Now I'll never know if Lucas gets loads of girls.
Love clicker games. Thanks for the game!
Absolutely gorgeous art. Gameplay just works. Very nice!
It's a bit bare bones but the concept is certainly interesting. Hope you develop it further! Following thread
Interesting idea! I got stuck on the same level as @pandademic42.
The ground is mesmerising. Really feels cyberpunky aesthetically.
I thought the bird legged hippo was wearing a dwarf hat before I figured out the flapping mechanic. I'm really scared now. send help.
Couldn't really play it properly due to having only one player, but like the aesthetic a lot.
HELLO!
I'm in love with what you did with the theme. Struggled a bit with the puzzle aspect, but that has more to do with my post-compo puzzling capacity!
Double submit by accident sorry.
Liked it! The color equals line of sight mechanic was very intuitive. Didn't get very far though, struggled on the third level getting past the yellow guard.
I like the idea of doing an exorcism. The art and sound is pretty good. Maybe explain the controls a bit more on the page, the game doesn't give much feedback what to press. What do the keys on the right side of the book do?
Background and camera use is very well done. Couldn't really get the dating bit working.
@julink sorry I figured it was a post-compo version. If it's just a bugfix probably best to replace the alpha link completely.
Really smart hybrid. Think it could suit an educational game very well!
Very effective at what it is. Had a lot of fun playing it! Thanks for that.
