Nice. Reminds me of hunting in "Oregon Trail" combined with a rougelike!
Nice and simple concept which works! I only got past the first day though, I found it a little too difficult.
This was pretty hardcore. Had almost Track'n'Field-feel to it, more you mashed your buttons the faster the guy moved. Deer's running on adjacent row doing damage to you and the homing nighttime enemies felt pretty unfair...
This game is very hard. You did a nice work! I survived 2 rounds... Congratulations!
nice concept. One thing i didn't like was that the font was almost unreadable
Prety hardcore for beginers, this is sure. I think it can be musical game too.
It's a complete game. Reminds me of old Atari games. A little difficult and unfair hitboxes for a game that you can only get touched 3 times in.
Good job.
Nice concept.
Think I got injured IRL trying to escape from the following creatures! I really liked the retro feel, reminds me of Frogger for some reason.
It's retro feeling of arcade games but I have issue with input in this game. I don't like the idea that you're shooting in the direction that you've last moved in. I think that player should always shoot on the left because that's where enemy spawns. When I was moving up and down, I have to always move one tile to the left to shoot in correct direction. It's a bit annoying and I don't really know if it's bug or you wanted this kind of controls. However ascetic graphics and 8-bit sfx with arcade gameplay were enough for me to have some fun. Good job.
Tottally Ancient! :)
I felt like playing atari or something like that.
The game is unforgiving which suits old games.
Sound fits the theme, and art too.
Even if I sprites don't look familiar.
Hitboxes a clear issue though. And shooting in the last direction you moved felt strange... I only survived one day ... didn't see anything see past that ...
Loosing all upgrades (today) just feels so unbearable.
Nice and simple, but lots of fun. The graphics and sound effects are fitting, although a few more sounds might have improved it a small amount.
I didn't really understand what any of the upgrades where supposed to do - some explanation would be a good addition.
The rounds with the red guys where really hard when they moved quickly - I think that that's kind of unfair, as it is possible depending on their spawn rates to be completely screwed - although maybe that's the point? ;)
Overall, it's a nice retro game and the difficulty is mostly fitting.
Simple, but well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/ZHYBCFbdIKA
Cool game with a fun gameplay. With more time, I guess that you could do something really interesting ++
The audiovisuals are rudimentary on purpose, I would hope, but the same excuse doesn't apply to the the movement controls. If the enemies can move smoothly, so should the player, taken that they represent the same type of entity, a tribal man.
The upgrade loop had the impossible task of keeping me playing after the second round. You'd needed to come up with some proper ingenious abilities to overcome the crude controls.
It is an old idea, but upgrades which improve the visuals and gameplay features, in a 4th wall breaking manner, are a possibility. Imagine buying a "smooth movement" upgrade; now, that would have made me give a few more goes.
