OMG THAT WAS AMAZING! HILARIOUS! Everything was on par, theme, gameplay humor , etc. The ONLY thing i saw that was a bit frustrating were some of the controls. There were times that i swear that I was doing it right and clicking the agent... but i would get 0 feedback and not register my event. Otherwise, game was great!
When I've read at the front page, I wanted to play this game so badly. And know I can.
I like it! The little raging Trumpy is a lovely character and the eagle is on point as well.
However, I noticed that the red line is supposed to be an indicator where the next rocket will be shot from? Most of the time, the rocket comes from a complete different direction?
Still, really nice work you've done with that game. :-)

Amazing entry! Wow!
This game had everything. Gameplay was really fun and the art and sound fit it well. We had a similar interpretation of the theme (having agents protect the president), but your execution of this idea was amazing!
This game is amazing. The mechanics - in terms of the laser line and the missiles - was confusing initially because I would prematurely aim an agent when I saw the laser appear, but the game overall is so polished, fun, and beautiful to look at. You should be proud!

Love it! Really great context for this style of game. Sometimes though it doesnt seem like the rockets always follow the red line?

That's for this kind of gem I started to do the LDs : I can rate it and I do. I don't even understand how you can make this in a week-end, it's amazing! Very good job.

I'm literaly blown away (just like the president at the end of my runs XD). This is truly amazing! The idea is awesome and fits the theme almost too well, the gameplay is fun, the art is dope and the effects are super funny (I love the ballon effects and american eagle after intercepting a rocket).
My only tiny improvement point would be to add some kind of outline to the rockets since at times they can be hard to spot.
But overall this is definately a super cool game, congrats to you 3!
Wow, I noticed we got 10 ratings in the first 1 1/2 hours, and 20 within the first 12 hours! That's amazing, we never got qualified so quickly. Thanks, everyone, for both the ratings and the feedback!
I will be sure to rate back/rate other games soon.
Excellent polish on this game :o I'm glad its cross platform and mobile friendly too! Now I'll have to play your previous games :)

Saw you on Twitter, finally got around to trying out the game.
What attracted me was the elaborate and detailed artstyle. You don't see that often in gamejams.
Unfortunately, the controls on browser didn't seem to work almost at all (I was playing on Chrome). It's a real shame, because it seems like a LOT of effort went into putting it all together.
The game title is great as well. As I lurked on Twitter during Ludum Dare, I glimpsed a few of your tweets and thought to myself how long are you going to keep thinking about how to call the game :D
@simanis Yeah I got one other report from someone saying it didn't work for them on Chrome. We've not pinpointed what causes it, it works fine on Chrome for us. Perhaps you can try a different browser?
The problem is that we didn't spend enough time _really_ thinking of a name we all agreed on, I guess.

Owooh man can you see, all the fun I just had! o/
For starters, the music. Really nice and fun, couldn't go better with the game. The sounds are also great.
Then, the graphics are pretty, the animations (even the ~~toupee~~ hairs on some guy I think I can recognize :p). Even doing multiple different sprites for the bodyguards is a nice move. Putting your previous games as giant posters on walls in the background is a fun touch. All those details (and the work you made of the artworks, the buildings,..) shows your team is competent and does things in a great efficient way.
The game mechanics are also well made and thought, juggling with your bodyguards army waiting on missiles is pretty fun. I feel like the game is well balanced, even though with my poor skill I didn't make it too far after multiple tries.^^ I played the game on Chrome 70.3 and had no problem nor bugs. Everything went smoothly. chrome_2018-12-06_00-18-39.png

Nice graphics, fun game. I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/QGU5NZBTfXo
That was good fun ! I liked that the president kept changing, nice touch.
Second game I see with this idea of sacrificing guards to save trump ... the pixelart in this is really good
Love the banners over the Dynasty Parking sign btw lolol
As with your previous games, your polish is truly insane. Not just at a game level but your blogposts are also all super professional and have a lot of attention to detail. Our team actually initially talked about a similar concept of bodyguard sacrifice, but we couldn't find a good way to put it all together. The way you did it is excellent, since even though the mechanic is relatively simple, the execution makes it so interesting. I found myself juggling the general positions of my guards to help with certain angles even in downtime, and the idea of a realtime angry birds is something I haven't quite seen.
In terms of polish, everything just comes together so well. The particle effects everywhere blend in super well. The guards coming back w casts was AMAZING and I wanted to keep piling them up. The helicopter completely caught me off guard and added to the chaos. I even appreciated the little megaman slide sprite when they skid. I'm not sure what else I'd add to this game other than more enemy types. Perfect game to port to mobile and I hope you do. 5 stars easy.

This was just perfect! I loved how the body guards started coming back in casts and then I noticed the bombs getting turned into bald eagles. Freaking hilarious!

The best interpretation of the theme. It's also fun, neat. I bet you will be ranked on top10.
Amazing game! the art is beautiful! Love all the work and little details like the bodyguards returning with bandages
Haha! Intuitive and funny game! Also nice graphics! I liked that the presidents changed. :)
Dragging wasn't working for me consistently in Chrome; switched over to Edge and worked fine :)
The game is really solid, but the art is incredible. There's so much work for a jam game, and the detail in the background or the President's animations really add to it.

This is pretty great but I also had a really rough initial experience with it.
I was playing in Chrome, and I guess there's a technical issue with the controls in Chrome. I played maybe 15 times without being able to control anything reliably, and stopping maybe three rockets in total. This really put me through the ringer on the retry loop... it's quite a long time between the failed jump that lets a rocket hit the president, and the next rocket appearing on screen. It goes Pres-hit animations, score screen, flag-wipe transition, text tutorial, initial marching, laser sight, and only seconds later does a rocket appear and I have one jump of gameplay experience before looping this again.
Eventually I concluded it had to be that I was missing something - and I saw the comment saying to play it in another browser.
So I played in firefox and I had a far, FAR more reasonable experience. Actually a pretty good one!
The pixel art is just totally great - really charming and communicative. Only critique I can offer is that I did find it a bit hard to pick out the rockets against the busy and just-as-saturated background, but maybe this was intentional as it definitely kept me really tense.
The sound effects and music are great, too, and I loved how it escalated in difficulty, with the helicopter appearing.
The time-slow is a really nice touch, as well -- added a lot to that mixed feeling of realtime/sort-turn-ish, and made it feel nice to line up shots.
Super-slick! (No points off for the Chrome part of the experience, just mentioning it since it happened.)
A solid and funny game all and all! :) Hitting the missiles felt really rewarding!

Really funny, beautiful pixel art, funny animations and a thorough entry. Well done on that guys! :)
I love the art style, it's really what captured my eye about this game. I also really enjoyed the timelapse! The mood of the game is spot on and the "over the top" patriotism is a great touch =) I tried to play this game in my browser and I found it difficult to get a "tactile" feel to grabbing the bodyguard and have him intercept the missiles and bombs. Often I'd catch the first one or two missiles and the third or fourth would come so fast that by the time I was about to act it had already passed all three bodyguards and the president's fate was already decided by that time =) Still, great game and thumbs up from me!

Super loving this game. I would defiantly play this thing on my phone to kill some time. It feels very polished. It was genius to have different presidents after each fail. I didn't build a game so I can't rate you but if I could it would be high.
Great game. I had fun playing it, and it took a while to learn. Only complaint is that on the browser it's a bit hard to grab the guards with the mouse, it seems you have to drag UP instad of DOWN as it tells you. Was hard to work with, not sure if it's a bug.
Amazing work though!

Loved all about the game, mostly the setting and mood! Very polished and funny :) Chopper clinging mechanic "bossfight" was awesome :D Could be nice full featured game on mobile devices, would love to play it while in tram/bus (game session about 3-10 min)!
Only thing I would point out, that I did not like, was the fact, that the background buildings were too visually noisy. Sometimes I could not see those rockets. If the background would be less detailed and all rockets were animated, it would be a lot easier to spot them. Those greeny fat ones was really hard to spot.
Good game all I just have a small "problem" if you can call it that, is it normal you can re-click the bodyguards to send them jumping while mid air ? xD anyways I had a lot of fun with that !
Wow! An amazing game! The gameplay, music, sound, animations... is perfect. It is very fun too.
@drcheetos It's an initially unintended feature that we ended up loving.

HAHA! really funy and well made!
It needs more patriotism.
:)
The best game I played this LD, really good job guys, I have nothing more to say!
Reporting in on the input/click detection issue! I'm on Chrome 71 using a resolution of 1440x900 and though at first it seemed like the clicking input was entirely unresponsive, I realized after a few tries that the click area for each bodyguard seems to just be offset to be entirely above the bodyguard. So, clicking on the bodyguard directly does absolutely nothing, but clicking on the air directly above them consistently activates them. Hope that helps!
Once I actually understood how to get the darn clicking to work, I got 5 stars and traveled 1210 feet! It was pretty fun, feels like it would be even more fun if the click detection was a little more generous, of course.
I found the "reverse swipe" angry birds-type controls to be quite counter-intuitive...It feels like it would be more satisfying / more intuitive to instead drag the bodyguard in the direction that you want them to jump, rather than in the opposite direction, as I don't really imagine any sort of "slingshot" effect here. But maybe that's just me?
Things may or may not be different on a tablet of course.
One thing you might consider is having the bodyguards placed more closely to the car so they are centralized. I know it might be part of the design to have the bodyguards spaced out (which is fair), but I think I found it a bit difficult to keep on trying to move my mouse to different places to launch the different bodyguards, especially as gameplay got faster. But take that with a grain of salt. Again, I could see this being much easier with a touchscreen.
Great theming and aesthetic, I really love the mechanical implications of the helicopters. Thank you also for your post-mortem writeups, it's always great to read writings like these!
