Imphenzia_AncientTechToReturn by imphenzia 2016-08-30T06:46:00

Thanks for your feedback! I'm not sure why the guards don't spawn sometimes but I did try to implement a bugfix - maybe the "Destroy" items command was cached to GC so the newly spawned guards were collected by GC straight away. Not sure if the fix will work but hopefully =)

Thanks again!

Imphenzia_AncientTechToReturn by imphenzia 2016-08-31T09:27:00

Thanks! So odd with the guard spawning... Did you try the WebGL / HTML5 version? Rocketship: I tried to fix it yesterday with a minor bug update so it would be interesting to know if you downloaded recently.

(Also, I tried Blender a while back but I forgot pretty much everything so I wasn't entirely unaware. But all the rigging and animation was new.)

Temple Guy by wr4th88 2016-08-31T07:41:00

Nicely done =) I enjoyed the time travel aspects, especially as it varied with water. I found the three items, but I could not find where I was supposed to exit the tombs. I spotted some minor layer sorting issues where his legs would be covered by the path he was running on etc. - other than that it was solid. Like the music too :)

Ben'sStories: GreatGrandfather's Story by QwaKlak 2016-08-31T07:54:00

I whipped them and they rebelled. I restarted. I whipped them and they rebelled =) I couldn't get a sense of how my tweaking parameters affected the build speed, or even what some parameters meant, but I guess the task is to identify that in the process of adjusting? Maybe not graphically the most polished thing but it's a complete game which is great.

Gemu Namae by Elit3dGaming 2016-08-31T07:27:00

Simple and fun. I like the fact you can't jump as it adds to the challenge. I scored 299 - when I re-read the rules that left-right arrows attack =)

The Golem by Matzigon 2016-09-01T08:24:00

I like the visual appearance of the low poly art and the destruction effects =) Volume control of music volume or on/off would have been nice as mixed with the SFX it overloaded a bit. Nice work!

LittleCopter by atom0520 2016-09-12T19:59:00

I had a go at the game and I was wondering how to get the engine running on the plane until I remembered the name of the game; LittleCopter =) I read the controls and got started and flew away. As I launched into the air it was difficult to know how much to steer since the zoomed in view made me navigate in blind so I ended up in the water most of the time. Maybe less "leap of faith" tactics would have kept my interest to play the game a bit longer. Nice work putting it together!

Stack Overflow by DillonEA 2016-12-13T21:21:00

I can imagine this is fun if you become good at it, or if you understand it better than I managed to. I read the instructions before I played. I tried twice and the speed and transparency and lack of tactile feel of selecting objects made it difficult for me to understand what to do. I re-read the instructions and tried another couple of times and then I managed to select and stack a few items and noticed how it started to collapse in places. Still, it was too steep of a curve for me to maintain interest. I really liked the visual feel and the rotation and isometric style was really nice. The music is great too! I think I would need a tutorial video =)

Just Leave Home by ALeal_Dev 2016-12-12T23:27:00

I managed to leave the house but as I came back in ("what the" =) I was trying to leave again but it told me to get the keys which I still had in my pocket. Did I miss the point maybe? =) I liked the blocky feel and the third person view.

Space Junk by imphenzia 2016-12-13T00:28:00

Thanks! Yes, it's a bit evil that there is no way for him to survive - life is cruel sometimes. Very valid points to make it more interesting though. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to play and comment.

Space Junk by imphenzia 2016-12-14T23:30:00

Thanks for all the comments and feedback, I really appreciate it. Some really good suggestions that I will take into account and update the game.

Space Junk by imphenzia 2016-12-26T22:15:00

Thanks for the continued feedback everyone, I really appreciate it! I am working on a polished version for android + iOS release - I will see this as a game to attempt my first mobile release and how to publish etc. All your feedback is very valuable.

In my post-LD version (not published yet) I have tightened up the controls (no lag) and changed to combine lightmaps with the realtime shadow to improve performance. I will be adding a lot of content to the game to make it more interesting to play for longer periods of time.

And, about those guys behind the glass - I was meaning to animate them but didn't have time. They can't help because they are on the other side of the glass, at least that's my theory. I suppose they could have called for help come to think of it :) At least they are not operating the pistons, those are automatic junk anti-stuck mechanisms.

Space Junk by imphenzia 2016-12-30T01:03:00

Thanks all again - yes, the pistons are a bit too evil, but there is an explanation to why they act like that in the bug video (see link above) :) In the post-LD version they will wind (drain air) you but not instakill. My personal best is 117 seconds, but it's much easier on the Win version compared to WebGL (less lag.) Cheers everyone once again!

Roomon by FrederickK 2016-12-29T20:02:00

I tried the compo version (since I did the compo myself) and it feels like an interesting start to a game. I can imagine with more content in the shop to upgrade attack and defense and increasing opposition and rewards it could be some playability in there. Keep it up!

Life.exe by wujood 2016-12-12T23:10:00

Hey, nobody was picking up when I dialed 911 =) Like how this brought some memories back from the era of point click adventures. I tried the numbers that I could find on the level to open the door but was unable to. I also tried some obvious ones like 1337 etc. I need to have another stab at it. The music had a bit of a repeat on it so it would have been nice if it had been just a tad longer. Liked the comedy of the updates still installing as you woke up :) Nice work!

Insecterminator by cambryx 2016-12-16T18:52:00

I like the graphics and clever to just shrink the characters to make the room into an entire level =) Unfortunately I couldn't play so well because I desperately need Invert-Y axis for mouse from 20 years of FPS gaming.

Legendary Tower Parkuor by NikitIT 2016-12-29T20:11:00

Off to a start but it was difficult to play as I fell through geometry a bit and it was hard to jump (low gravity?) and predict where I would land.

32 Days by Haddy22 2016-12-12T21:33:00

Nice work! I got started and it's been a long time since I played story driven games with character text communication (back in the mid 90s was the last time =) so it was fun but I also became a bit impatient (but probably because I am a slow reader.) The progression and connection with the story was clever and gradual introduction of new tasks was kept to a good pace. I fell off the blocks for the first navigation part a few times but it was never too tedious to retry and I wanted to see what the next day would bring. The timed challenge was a nice touch as I reached the corner with 1 second to spare after some wrong moves.

I reached day 13 and as I was playing on the ducks I warped into the blocks (presumably physics pushed me past the collider.) I couldn't get out from the block and was not able to get past the bath balls as I was still stuck. I can imagine it takes quite some time to get the sentences and timing them with triggers as you progress in the game. Again, nice job!

One Room Hotel by NightShadow0 2016-12-29T19:21:00

A lot of clicking to get started for someone who is as impatient as me =) But after the first day I managed to please the guests for a few days before they got "miffed" and left - nobody else cared to stay after that! Is it difficult to balance games like this? I don't have any experience playing or making management games but I got a feeling that the logic is in place.

Riftong by leondryaso 2016-12-16T19:01:00

I like the retro raster graphic effect =) The audio was also nice and I found the sound effects especially gratifying. Game-play wise I was a bit frustrated that I was left in situations where I had no choice but to take hits (simultaneous incoming balls from 180 degree split) but then again the health was generous so I guess that was part of the game. I got menus up and even though I had enough points neither LMB or RMB made anything happen. Nice work!

Cold Day in the Office by ceosol 2016-12-13T21:41:00

Just like in my day-job =) Infected about 10 people when testing the game - as you said, no winning/losing or objective to try to beat which probably limits the time you spend playing the game a fair amount.

Santa's little bin packer by thomz12 2016-12-13T21:10:00

Nice to set the mood for Christmas with the theme, music, and graphics. I always love pixel art and the idea of doing the gifts in 3D was an interesting twist but at the same time that removed some of the feel that pixel art brings to the table such as a hand crafted piece of art. My brain likes to stack and sort things so it was pleasing to place the items on the grid. I was hoping that a full grid would send the packages out the door so I could stack a new batch but I ran out of space at a score of 600 and 1 block left empty on one of the grids. Nice work, I enjoyed playing it!

I Clean Toilet by Flaterectomy 2016-12-13T01:21:00

Haha, I love this game =) Very nice pixel art. Great sense of humor. I've never been so eager or stressed to clean toilets. Only thing I could think of to improve is to make it more clear which tool you have in your hand at the moment.

ROOM by spacedoubt 2016-12-13T21:47:00

Your title screenshot (I was a doom fan back in the day) caught my interest from the moment I saw it on submission day and now I got a chance to test it out. Unfortunately I could only play less than a minute because I nearly instantly got motion sickness from the combination of smooth rotation, intense perspective and billboard-style facing objects. I tried to interact with a few of the to find the poster but had to exit before I felt too sick (I suffer from games like Minecraft too.) Interesting idea for sure though and in my mind you nearly stuck to the theme with it being rooms but multiple rooms instead of a single one. Nice work!

use your IMAGINATION, quick!!!! by sepharoth213 2016-12-12T22:53:00

I tried it, and then I tried it again. Read the instructions. Tried it again. It kept telling me I got bored so I stopped =) Not quite sure I got it, maybe because I haven't played fruit ninja. Fun twist with the music :) I have to hand it to you that you stuck to the theme very well though.

Alien Barnage by homeworld 2016-12-16T19:09:00

Great graphics and nice content with animated characters. Maybe end waves before timer runs out when all enemies are eliminated - there were some periods of waiting. Nice game!

4/4 Room by Remicy 2016-12-16T18:45:00

A lot of coding went into this game I see and understandably so. I found that the graphics and music fit the game very well. I was a bit confused at first but it didn't take long to get in to it. When I filled up my inventory I wasn't quite sure what to do, the difficulty may not have ramped up fast enough? Cool concept to update a quadrant as well.

After Party by saucygames 2016-12-13T20:58:00

Reminded me about Sid Meier's Covert Ops and it was nice to see the total top down 2D view. I thought the sound was implemented nicely too, subtle but clean effects that fit the game well. Whoever responded to my behavior with the shotgun sure was fast and had awesome aim - even shot me through walls =) Finally, I can see the comedy in this (I could have done something similar in the past) but I also tragically relate this to how some people actually feel and act - still, that can be made into a game of course!

One bad room by Xakkar 2016-12-13T21:35:00

Interesting idea of interacting with the room and that the character was 2D with the room itself being 3D. I didn't understand what do do though. I rotated and clicked back and forth and some of the pots fell down but the last pot (on the shelf closest on the screenshot) refused to move no matter how much I tried to click, swiped, rotated, etc. I had to leave with "1 clickable object" remaining. How are you supposed to interact with the objects?

Planetary Remains by Imphenzia 2017-04-24T20:21:53Z

@constellado - thanks!

@gamingdudester - Did I do a typo of my nick somewhere? =)

Planetary Remains by Imphenzia 2017-05-03T12:25:31Z

Thanks for the feedback!

PlanetaryRemains 2017-04-26 00-47-38-44.png

I managed to get a score of 2730. If you beat it (with a YouTube video to show it) you get my Universal Sound FX sound pack for gamedevelopers (5000+ sound effects) for free (http://www.universalsoundfx.com/game-ready-sound-packs.php =)

Planetary Remains by Imphenzia 2017-05-13T21:33:26Z

Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to play and comment! Glad you like it. @sgstair - it was very satisfying to see someone play the game in a stream! Cool! It's interesting that you interpreted it as having to use as little resources (shots) as possible because there is no such mechanic - I spam missiles like crazy :)

Lottery: you judge them I judge you by doppelgunner 2017-05-17T23:40:41Z

Sometimes it was easy to choose, sometimes it was hard. I would hate to make real life decisions like that which is why I am happy that we are making games instead =) Makes you think!

Invasion by mmKALLL 2017-05-03T12:19:11Z

I like the game. I like the round intermission power ups - I strongly favored recharge rate mainly because I was missing indication on when the weapon was ready to fire =) I felt my stress level going up each round too, haha. Scoring would be nice as well for "replayability" as I always want to do better each time I play. Nice work!

Barbuglio by pataya 2017-05-17T23:24:35Z

I like the pixel art pigs and player character =) I also liked the SFX and the music! I didn't find myself playing for too long since it was a matter of "stress clicking" back and forth but credits to you for making and completing a game in LD!

Seagazer by Turncoda 2017-05-17T23:48:32Z

I got the feeling of "Myst" if you ever played that game =) I was searching for the stationary star but my odd senses make me motion sick when I look at smooth panning/rotating items so I was unable to locate it before I had to pull the plug. Mouse control would have helped me to play longer because it's the slow smooth panning that gets me. I love space and stars so the idea of star night sky appealed to me!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Rejig the ship by madmarcel 2017-08-18T14:54:33Z

The ship looks nice, too bad you didn't get to finish it. Like previous poster I also liked the music. Hope you get around to participating in LD40 too!

ROBOT POWER by Imphenzia 2017-07-31T20:50:53Z

Thanks for the feedback so far! I understand the criticism about the controls. Initially I wasn't using physics but I ran into bugs and decided to switch to rigidbody physics which presented new challenges late in the process, inertia being one of them. Personally I sort of like the feel of the jetpack but that's probably because I got used to making minor adjustments to balance in the air. Today my 7yo son tried the game and he banged his fist into the table in frustration so please provide suggestions about how you would like the controls to be =)

At first I also had so the robot flipped in the air when turning left and right but I changed that (for the good and bad) so he was also facing the way he took off. Sometimes it adds to the challenge because you may be better off flying off an edge in the "wrong" direction to get better propulsion below the drop - but then again I think the fact that it "feels wrong" outweighs the benefit of the added challenge.

The bug of being dragged behind the rocket occurs if you fly to the entry point, I think. I'll see if I can fix it post release now.

Glad the visuals received positive feedback, I was spending quite some time on them while trying to think of the mechanics and plot.

Plagued Station by Mr_Field 2017-08-17T10:02:05Z

I am impressed by this game and I having not played very many platformers myself (yet loving the genre) I learn quite a few things from your entry. The mechanics and feel of movement and jumping is nice (it did take me a few seconds to figure out about holding Z though, and I kept forgetting which was firing and which one was jumping as I was reaching for space to jump constantly =) Also about the subtle and classic pixelart feel of the character mmovement, the little dust pufs, the breathing animation, etc. Felt great! The artwork and music was matched the game mechanics perfectly and it felt polished. I did reach a point where the tutorial said hold Z for strong fire, which I did, but I couldn't blast through the rocks or rocket jump over the spikes in that room so I'm not quite sure if I'm missing something or if it's a bug. What engine/tools did you use to make the game?

Power Planner by Micito 2017-08-02T13:39:26Z

This is my favorite game that I've played so far. Looks very nice and managing the tasks and power generators are very rewarding. I did have to read the tutorial a couple of times and at first I thought I was meant to distribute power generators to the actual buildings, but after I declared myself stupid and tried again I realized how it worked and I went from being confused to having a lot of fun. Very innovative and it felt balanced! Great work :)

Robo Runner by mrwillowb 2017-08-18T18:42:07Z

I collect batteries but my power isn't increasing so even though I got 10 power cells I still just run out of power to game over. I red that you need to train the robot to do everything (including picking up batteries) but I don't know how =) Looks quite nice though!

Space Robot on a Space Ship by Apple Dash 2017-08-02T12:38:24Z

The title and screenshot attracted me to the game but I failed about 10 times to even exit the hangar without getting destroyed by the asteroids which sort of drained my own power to keep trying. What was the purpose of enabling/disabling steering? I would probably have preferred a AWSD always on method to steer but maybe I'm missing some crucial point about the challenge of the game =)

Disaster On Nebula One by RAC-Games 2017-08-02T22:15:01Z

Very nice game indeed. I like the graphics, level design, level progression (and the built in tutorial billboards). I thought the controls were nice and responsive but when turning around the camera quickly offset which causes problem for me for two reasons, first of all i get a bit disoriented but more importantly I get motion sick unfortunately. If pressing left/right just to turn the character would have benefited if the camera didn't do the quick pan for me (but that's a minor thing in the scheme of things =) Cool that you added and intro as well and I liked the jump animation and the platform. The audio was also good! For your skybox in the intro, you may want to change from "wrap" to "clamp" for the textures to remove the lines along the box edges. Congratulations on making this game - it's a solid platformer :)

Night Watch by IndieAlchemist 2017-08-17T19:55:31Z

I really like the art style, pixelart and mood is great! I kept trying to find a jump key and I wanted to hurt the ghosts somehow but I failed to do so =) Someone should take a look at those street lights as well, they break very easily! =)

Electric Neon by kamikaziuk 2017-08-17T19:49:00Z

I like the blue/cyan and magenta combo, been a fan of that since the CGA days =) The music was also fitting the visual theme. As for the game play, it sort of pushes on the fears that I have of using an electric car my self, feeling the panic about running out of juice! I was missing reverse gear and some radar like ability to know where to look for batteries. Over all, nice effort though and congratulations on making the game!

Mad Trax by boats 2017-08-18T07:12:18Z

Looks cool and I love the color combo =) For some reason magenta and cyan brings to mind memories back from my CGA days. I found the game play to be a bit passive (or maybe I just misunderstood it all?) Over all though, polished entry and nice effort!

Erebot by aevek 2017-08-02T07:29:47Z

Nice work! I was planning to have solar power on my robot too but I couldn't quite think of how to put it together but I think your method of shadows, including having them animated was very clever. I had a couple of goes at first thinking that I died even though I was in the sunlight, but that was the robot and not the solar panels that were in the light so I realized I needed to look at the avatar shadow instead to make sure that the solar panels were always lit. I like the low poly look and the "lonely feel", just like in the movie =)

Power by KRP 2017-08-02T12:06:21Z

Funny to see this idea come to life, I've been thinking about type command move/attack game for some time so I was excited to try this =) The hints on typing commands on this page was essential, I was trying to type e.g. REMUS FIRE 1 1 but I realized I had to type the target name. I like the retro green grid look as well, nice job =)

Down in the Light Mine by gnerkus 2017-08-02T07:45:43Z

I completed the level and would have liked to continue as I reached the level exit fairly fast. I ran out of shots early and then I just made a mad dash through the level so it could do with some more balancing but I understand that under the time constraints it's difficult to get that just right. The menus looked very primitive too, but again I understand your priorities =) Nice dark mood and it felt fairly responsive to the controls. Nice work and congratulations on your entry.

Universal Powers by Snowy 2017-08-02T12:32:21Z

For someone like me, who thinks that one frame comics contain too much text to read, this was a bit text heavy for me. That probably says more about me than the game though =) I like the comical side of the simulations but I wasn't sure how I could actually make decisions to balance the power bars. Good work though!

Thunderstorm by NNNIKKI 2017-08-13T20:00:47Z

Easy to get right into and I thought the difficulty level felt balanced. I managed to achieve 38, not sure if that's good or bad =) The concept reminds me of the very first computer game I ever tried which was on a text only mainframe machine (the size of a room) which was at my dad's workplace. You had to shoot boats from the bottom of the ocean and it was very similar mechanics but using console text characters =) Nice work with your entry!

Mega Awesome Super Cool Battery Game by Fork0 2017-08-17T08:58:05Z

Whey, I am super impressed by the simplicity of and fun level of this game. It was hard to get started and I kept scoring 0, 0, 0, then 0... then 560 after a miracle run =) A couple of things come to mind: It would have been nice to either be able to switch gravity with mouse button (since "restart game" requires mouse interaction) or alternatively if you could simply restart with "space" so you don't have to reach for the mouse over and over. I also think that getting some score straight away would increase the incentive for people that find it hard to play. Graphically and sound wise (especially music) could see improvements but I score this very high overall, innovation, theme and fun =) Great work and congratulations on your successful LD game release :)

Edit: I forgot to say that the name rocks too!

Running From Power by MaiMai 2017-08-13T19:54:25Z

I like the concept of having too much power and that you need to get rid of some of it by just bursting energy waves - that's a first I think =) The mood of the game was nice but (as you mention in the text) the game-play is a bit slow. I had 2 baddies left but I couldn't find them, maybe they were behind a house out of view? I was wondering why people were sliding around on their backs as well until I realized that the baddies hurt the goodies! I accidentally killed some people by trying to jump, which of course set of the energy burst instead :)

Growing Pains by ctjet99 2017-08-18T07:34:42Z

I am a father of three and just looking at my kids growing up and my parents growing old and this game really makes you think. You did a wonderful job to put it together both visually (love the pixel art style), music, and with the diversity of game mechanics. I laughed at times, for example for the toilet aiming as it's very similar to what I go through with my son who wakes up at night and I have to twist and turn him to steer, just like that, for him to hit the toilet. Falling over when walking as a senior also made me smile and I realized why with the friendly message that I should walk slower because my knees are too weak. At the end, walking through the field of flowers towards the grave made me stop and think even more about life's different stages and where we will all head in the end. So thanks for this experience and for putting this game together. It reminded me to continue to treasure all moments in life as much as possible!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-05T22:49:12Z

Thanks all for your comments so far. I understand there needs to be more challenges and variations to the mechanics to keep it interesting so that's valuable input - I may make a post-compo version of it and add content and new challenges.

Yes @bartosz, I made the music too - music what I've done longer than making games although I do find it challenging to make music under pressure because some days it just "doesn't click" - but I wanted a synth '80s cop-series style track so I did what I could during the two hours I had put aside for music =)

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-05T23:16:14Z

@bartosz I use Cubase (7.5) for the music but that's mostly just for sequencing because the sound themselves are from VST instruments like Nexus, Elektra, Nemesis, and Omnisphere to name a few. Thanks again! Much appreciated!

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-06T03:03:16Z

@bismark thanks. I just finished making one so I will upload in a few hours :)

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-06T10:42:24Z

Thanks @kornel - glad controls feel good, that have been my biggest nemesis so far in the past. Thanks for taking the time to play, rate, and comment =)

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-06T10:42:45Z

Now @bismark, the timelapse video is published :)

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-06T20:33:16Z

@nights87 - thanks! Glad you like it. I have to resist too on levels 3-4-5 even though I know that maybe just a another one or two could increase the highscore =)

@mike-cullingham - yeah, sound is a combination of a Doritos crisp being crushed in my hand and various thuds of me banging a couple of things right next to me like a pillow and a door. Yes, the effect is not really too apparent until level 3 and onwards where you have to start skipping coins to make it.

Robby & Coppy by Imphenzia 2017-12-08T00:39:23Z

Thanks so much for your feedback - I really appreciate it! @moski - he blew up the bank during the night, he's trying to salvage what he can on his way to freedom - but you have a fair point still =) Thanks also for the detailed comment and kind wishes. @matthias-schedel - thanks, I actually tried that during the compo but I felt that the delay before jumping on release feel "unnatural" - is that a common way to handle jumps? Maybe I just implemented it odd :)

I posted these in the LD-feed but today I sketched a potential of 31 characters to be used in a post-compo version:

Nabi by Amir Bayareh 2017-12-05T21:38:06Z

I like this game a lot! Graphics and "physics" feels spot on and the sound effects suited the game well. We went for a similar take of the theme - collecting in a bag which affects your performance to run and jump. I learned a lot from your game and will keep that in mind when I attempt platformers in the future. In just a short period of time you had me/us dodging many different obstacles and weapons. I like how you managed to create so much content and place it well during the limited time. I also like your attention to detail, e.g. the little spirit/ghost as you die. I found it somewhat tedious to run all the way back to the drop treasure here pad but at least you could leap out of the window on the way back. Keeping track of highscore would have been nice too. Great effort, really well made!

Back to Dust by Plepletier 2017-12-05T21:59:30Z

Nice art and suitable music. The game is bound to make you think and I guess it's impossible to balance it out(?) which makes you think about the situations that are going on at the moment. I did spot a potential bug. Someone came along and a bunch of refugees went with them, but it still said we were a party of 5 although we were 4 at that time. For someone as impatient as me a fast forward key would have been nice, but then again, I don't think the game was designed with that in mind which is understandable.

The Exploding Factory by doomshmuck 2017-12-25T10:38:39Z

The pace increased quite quickly and it quickly entered panic mode for me but somehow trying to keep the coffees on the belt to slow it down. I only reached about 150 and the "playability "of it lasted a few rounds for me. The smooth scrolling of the belt made me motion sick but I wouldn't worry about that because now days a lot of games have that effect on me =) There were some UI issues when starting the browser version in compact mode so you had to go to full screen to see the text. Also, the visual sorting of the first box placed it behind the belt but as new boxes came they sorted correctly.

Dog-Off! by BrothersT 2017-12-05T21:46:42Z

Like the look of this game, it really caught my attention and the "choppy" animation style suits it very well, very dynamic and expressive movements! Keeping track of the controls became a bit too much for me so I quit in frustration as I was trying to eat, wipe sweat and drink at the same time and mixing up all the keys totally =) Nice game though. Super cool with the people cheering on :)

The Exalted by Flubz 2017-12-04T18:36:51Z

I like the visuals - I wish full screen would work with WebGL (I tried chrome and edge, I get the same with my game). Any chance of publishing a windows downloadable as well? I think it would be a smoother experience and it feels like the kind of game you want silky smooth when you play. Nice work!

Of a Feather by Gumboot 2017-12-05T18:20:33Z

Hey, I didn't see that coming - the cactus stretching to prick my bird :) I like the art style and simplicity a lot. Pleasing to flap the bird into the sky. Maybe a bit too friendly (easy) in the beginning and restarting from the beginning after reaching a few levels up is a bit discouraging (hmm, my game suffers from that I realize since I have the same element of design). Nice game, I like it!

Diet Time by GerardB 2017-12-05T21:10:35Z

I reached 38 and I couldn't clear the junk food fast enough at that stage to filter out the healthy stuff =) Some of the item's down by the time bar I couldn't grab, the raycast collider was preventing it I think? You mentioned the asset store for models, but what about the music? I thought it was cheerfully suitable for the game.

Traffic Jammers by jushiip 2017-12-05T19:56:40Z

Hey, neat game. I reached 11 "Spacetime Traffic Guard". In the beginning I thought I could only set the red lights instead of toggling them (even though it literally says "toggle" - so the first few levels I just sat there and waited for 2-3 minutes. A "time acceleration" button would have been handy. I like the visual appeal and the game feels stable and I couldn't spot any bugs which is great! Not sure on the replayability of it - maybe with some more variation to the graphics and mechanics with crosswalks, road works, etc. would increase the urge to play more. Also, I set the speed limit zones but nothing appeared to happen to the traffic?? Great effort!

Hungry Mok and the Amulet of Food by Kornel 2017-12-05T21:19:30Z

Looking at the video the swinging looks so easy, but I couldn't get the hang of it. I either retracted too fast or swung to rapidly to lose any fruit I had. I did managed to jump around in the air a fair amount by jumping on the actual fruit I had gathered - I don't think it's designed to allow that though? =) I love floating islands so that part I enjoyed.

Winter Sleep by cenullum 2017-12-05T11:31:16Z

Hey, first of all, I love the music! That was a 5/5 for me :) Even though I like pixelart, this may be a bit too monochrome and pixely for my liking. Some more time spent on the art would probably benefit the game a lot. At first, I lost interest quite quickly but I decided to give it another go after I died a few times and then it became quite fun. My best score was 1750 (which is probably terrible) and my tactic turned out to be to get a few pieces of food at and run back to stockpile it in the cave. I only collected enough to maintain speed to outrun my angry followers in the forest on my way back to the cave =) I found that eating and carrying too much made me too slow to succeed in getting back to the cave so in that sense it's totally in line with the theme. I like the idea of a map as well - at first I tried to see a "you are here" indicator but after a few rounds that wasn't needed. I also think it was good that you pointed out about the controls so obvious in the menu =) So, to summarize: Great music (!), quite fun game to play, not so great graphics. Great work though!

Voxel Mob Arena by Bartosz 2017-12-05T22:56:58Z

I think it could be fun to play but I did run into the mentioned problems with sticky keys and character movement a lot. Even after respawning my guy would just keep moving and leap off the edge like it was a diving contest =) I love grabbing the double weapons though, quite pleasing to unleash on the oncoming horde =) Nice work! Oh, the menu doesn't work well in the windowed version, the yellow text overlays the bright parts and start button. Great job!

Don't get drunk by tulipekoni 2017-12-04T18:28:50Z

Surprisingly hard, I often ended up missing the timing on the jumps and landing face first into a wall =) Good on completing the game. The drunk effect was smooth - is that a shader you've made?

CRAMMM: Totally Accurate Studying Simulator by tuism 2018-09-02T00:07:58Z

This entry feels really polished - I love the artwork and the sound and the game-play felt solid too. Cool idea with the topics but then I kept failing trumpology - I am not following politics too closely so I kept failing :)

Growing Cities by Igor KinGamer 2018-09-02T00:12:32Z

Am I meant to be able to stack houses on top of one another? I like the shaking of the buildings as they are put under pressure. Neat entry and credits to implementing multiple languages :)

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-12T22:33:38Z

@cg-fred thank you - the page was still in draft apparently so only I could see it! Now it's published - thank you so much for pointing it out!

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-12T23:22:56Z

Thanks @x227man - glad you like it. Well, I didn't include the time that I spent on the boat trip thinking about the game so the 8 hours was actual development time (inc. music, 3D, and coding). Plus another hour to compile and upload on top of that. Being such a simple game I it's not much code and I also cut corners on not implementing music/sfx volume control and stuff like that :)

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-13T16:44:15Z

Thanks @hellyahh, @roberth332, @albin - I appreciate your comments and I'm thrilled that you like the game. To all of you who take time out of your day to provide feedback here I will make sure to visit and comment everyones' games this week.

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-15T00:51:12Z

@meatpudding - thanks for the tip, I will add that for the post-compo version, was just debating what to do about that since you may want to launch the cars fast into a slot. Just working on some new cars now for the next version of the game =) Wish I would of had more time during the weekend to begin with.

LowPolyCars.png

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-21T11:20:51Z

Thanks for the feedback guys! @tuism you touch on some important parts that I try to address in the post-compo version.

The booms i implemented so you could let cars pass if the parking lot was full but they operate on a timer interval which isn't apparent to the player. My original idea would be to have booms open and then close for a duration after you are forced to let a car through - that behaviour would be easier to grasp I think. I believe som playersmay even think they get bonus from driving through booms so that definitely needs fixing :)

The speed commit of a car has no impact on when next car appears but it serves two purposes: when you commit a car you can start controlling the next one which may appear befor the first one has parked otherwise. The second reason is that when you commit a car you can save a few seconds if the next car needs a slight buffer.

I also noticed that the will to play demises when you realize you parked a short stay car behind a long one... any suggestion to fix that would be appreciated :)

I am frantically working on a post-compo version now:

https://youtu.be/wQCcSwdu-SQ

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-21T14:40:00Z

@tuism ok, if you control a car and another car spawns behind you, you can't steer the car until the one you already control parks so if you commit a car it switches to the new car so you get to navigate to its best slot. In the new game I will try to play with and without commiting, maybe I need to adress that better.

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-21T14:53:51Z

@tuism you may be right, just tested in the new version and commiting has no obvioys benefits, especially when the cars are now moving faster. I think that I will do so that when you commit you see the duration for the next car a bit ahead of it appearing so you get the benefit of planning placement better. I also thought about the issue about waiting for doom if you park short term behind long term so maybe long tap on car to wheel clamp it may counter that issue - with limited clamp attempts.

Hyper Dash by tgiant 2018-09-01T23:10:02Z

Hey - surprisingly simple idea and I like it - my kids would love to play this on mobile as they tend to go for games like this. It's funny how simple the controls are yet my brain plays tricks on me so I end up jumping instead of turning even though there are only two input controls :) Nicely done - I like it! I agree with above, this deserves a lot more ratings!

Prog-Jet vs Guardians by Bismark 2018-09-01T22:58:47Z

Being a tron fan this appealed to me! I liked the idea of "collecting" the squares. My biggest piece of criticism would be the turn-mechanic because I felt lost as the camera warped 90 degrees. I would suggest LERP-ing the camera so yo don't feel teleported :) Nice work!

Chestmaster by x227man 2018-09-01T22:47:49Z

Hey, I finally got around to testing and rating some games so now I'm here =) I am not so good with games that requires my brain to figure out the controls/mechanics and I'm not sure if I just didn't figure out how to play it or if there were some bugs like mentioned above?

Zombie Wackers by CG_Fred 2018-09-01T22:45:28Z

I like the sticky wall control - it makes me want to attempt a more classic platformer too =) I also thought it was fun to see the bullets rack up and the recoil pushing you back! It didn't keep my attention for too long though, I mostly stayed in the corner with the fire button held in spawn killing like a n00b =)

Eclipse Galaxy : A Smuggler Story by chadrbanks 2018-09-02T00:01:46Z

I come from the days of playing Tradewars on the BBSs and this brought back memories to those days. I like the art and the idea of the game but I couldn't allocate enough time to play to determine how well the system and trading worked and how it was balanced. Great work though!

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-09-01T23:57:26Z

Haha, that was quite amusing. I thought "great tutorial" and then... out of space :) Nice sticking to the theme. I also like how you commented about me trying everything to desperately getting up to the ledge saying that the up key doesn't work. Nice mood to the game, I liked the hand drawn art and the music. The hero felt a bit sticky to the wall, maybe reduce friction? Nice work, and thanks for the laugh :) High humor rating from me!

Grocery Runner by roberth332 2018-09-01T22:51:03Z

Hey, I am running into some problems with the HTML5 version - it freezes? I was excited to collect more shopping =)

Collapsing Mines of LUMDOOM by Gus the Shark 2018-09-01T23:03:43Z

I like this game - well done! The models and graphic was really nice and I especially like the look of the cube/blocks :) It was also a cool solution to have the debris falling down to indicate where it would cave in - something that would be difficult to solve in an isometric game since you are limited to what's above. It felt quite tactile and nice to play. It had special appeal to me because the first game I ever wrote back in the 80s on my MSX Spectravideo was a mine game where you would run out of space but that was because water was filling up so still different :)

Space Warehouse by meatpudding 2018-09-01T23:27:34Z

Nice music and interesting idea. At first sight it felt super simple, I took stuff out and placed it, but then I was unable to place items even though it indicated with green that it should be possible so I'm not sure what I did wrong there. Cool stuff and congrats on your entry!

Deity of Destruction by Veilastrum 2018-09-01T23:39:31Z

Hi - I have no idea what was going on there =) It looks quite interesting, especially since I'm into space stuff, but I was clicking the mouse and hammering the keyboard like there was no tomorrow yet nothing seems to happen? I wasn't even sure where to look on the screen! Apologies for the lack of constructive criticism here, I will try again to see if I can get cracking =)

Climb by Albin 2018-09-01T22:54:51Z

I liked the hand drawn art and especially the animated blob as it felt nice to control it seeing it react to the movements. The un-skippable delay after "game over" made me not play it for too long since I died quite often =)

Defragmentare: Bring Order to Chaos by monkeydom 2018-09-01T23:44:59Z

What a clever idea! I used to defrag my HDD often back in the day and seeing a reference to good old Norton brought a smirk to my face :) I would have liked to have played this game in ANSI-graphics for true retro feel, haha! I like the idea of sorting the blocks and it had a pleasing feeling as you got things in order. Fun and great idea - high innovation score from me!

Running out of S.P.A.C.E. by Frank Gevaerts 2018-09-01T23:33:59Z

Oh, I haven't played a text adventure since the late 80s - was a flash back :) Go west. And I instantly tied to smash that red button only to find out the panel needed "fixing" but "fix panel" came as a surprise to the parser. Fair enough, I'm now searching for the screw driver. I like the humor, "Reality Control Centre" haha. Thanks for making this one :) Good work!

Ultimate Alien Rumble by Rodrigo Molina 2018-09-01T23:23:56Z

Beautiful art but for some reason my character was never shooting where aiming towards. The bullets would exit at a 90 degree angle to the weapon and I was seriously confused what was going on =)

Relocation by EpigramGames 2018-09-01T23:51:55Z

I like the command centre look and it brings back memories to playing Risk with the world view. The low poly look of the map is nice and it felt quite tactile with UI controls. I was however a bit unsure about the rate at which it diminished. The music was really nice too!

Infinity Search by FlashViper 2018-09-01T23:21:03Z

Nice game even though it has some rough edges :) I like sticking to the classic room feel rather than panning - it's so easy to pan these days that keeping a retro room swap felt very rewarding to play. Nice music too :)

Outta Space by Coal Creek Game Devs 2018-09-01T23:14:44Z

Beautiful game - I really like the pixel art and the game goes well with it! I liked the different items to beam up and it felt polished! I didn't find myself playing it for too long because I got a bit motion sick (problem for me with scrolling games unfortunately). Big thumbs of for you game though - nice!

Hey guys, thanks for your comments and feedback so far! @shadowblaze - I have uploaded a fixed version that should work on ultrawide monitors too. @spigaru - I have uploaded a fixed version now that allows you to click the OK button. @jeroenpx - thanks for the feedback on input, I will make it more direct in a future version. Depending on the popularity of this game I will consider making it into a bigger release with more levels, more content, and I will make the input more "snappy".

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T01:29:30Z

@legulysse I have only encountered that bug two times and I know what you mean. I'm not sure what causes it yet, I can see that he is sliding depthwise and you can't chop a tree as you say but I already force depth position but there must be a race condition between two states. Do you get this every single time?? I am wondering if we can pinpoint what is causing it =) Thanks for reporting!

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T07:59:04Z

@legulysse Thanks for the update. I can't seem to reproduce the issue. I have created a build that forces the z axis back "even more" to 0 in this build: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0egyl46mvykxt5c/BlotD1.zip?dl=0 if you want to try. I would love to find the bug so I can fix it - do you have any screencapturing software so I can see how/when it happens? I understand if you don't have time for that of course :)

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T08:00:54Z

@sanyingli - thanks, glad you like it! I wonder if that is the same bug... does he sweep a bit back and forth when you are standing at the rune stone or is he just standing perfectly still and nothing happens?

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T08:02:47Z

@moski - thanks for the kind comments! I have joined the discord but I am the world's most inactive discord user I think so I miss notifications :) Hope your team likes it too!

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T13:35:58Z

@lucien-catonnet Thanks. I tried to update to more direct controls but that feels weird to me now, probably because I am used to the springy one during development =) I will probably try to find a nice balance. That bug is a rail pain - not sure how to reproduce it. Any circumstances to think of? Looks like end of level two, did it occur all the time? Had you died by lightning or something like that before? If you don't remember, I totally understand =) =)

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T14:57:54Z

I may have found and rectified that bug now both in the WebGL and CompoVersion download. I managed to reproduce the problem if I jumped *right* after I had finished chopping down a tree but after this fix I couldn't reproduce the issue again so hopefully it's fixed now =)

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-12T23:55:20Z

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

@hectigo @flashviper @sandpile I didn't reset the "gravity" and "spring" settings for the control inputs so they ramp up and down as you go left and right unfortunately. This means that there is a slight delay. I forgot about that during development because I got so used to the controls that I didn't find it to be an issue while testing, but I can definitely see what you mean and will fix in the post compo version that I'm working on now =)

Also happy to hear you find the timelapses fun/useful, I will keep making those.

@firesplash-entertainment Thanks for streaming the game! The bug that you encontered (inability to chop wood at certain times) is fixed in the WebGL and the "Compo"-version of the windows download - I noticed that you downloaded the one from the original release. Oddly enough I didn't encounter the bug often myself but I see that you got it very frequently, so sorry about that. Also, I see the level design (tricky jumps) and the slow key response affected the game. I am fixing this is a new version to gradually ramp up trick level difficulty.

Thanks a lot again everyone!

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-16T00:15:58Z

@flaterectomy - thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! It's funny you should mention the lineup because I will probably be able to say the same for your signature as I remember both the rally and the toilet cleaning games from past Ludum Dares when I saw you guys had made them too.

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-16T11:36:32Z

@jacklehamster - thanks for the video!

I see one bug that is causing some problems for people, and that is that when you run against a platform and jump, it reduces your jump height. The reason for this is a capsule collider that tucks in a little bit under the platform. I am fixing this in the future version but it will still be an issue in the speedrun version so just avoid jumping when you are right next to a platform and at least don't run into it while you jump =)

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-17T22:44:35Z

@secretpocketcat thanks for the feedback! The manual chopping is a cool idea, it could reward you by timing the chops and it would, like you said, keep the player occupied at all times. I will consider that in the next release :) yep, i understand that the jumping can be improved. I am working on faster acceleration left/right but that actually makes the precise distance jumping harder since it is more difficult to micro adjust. Will see where I end up! Thanks again.

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-20T20:02:31Z

@matank Thanks for the indepth feedback. When I release a post-LD version of the game in January I will make better level progression so you ease in to the more difficult sections. I understand that the three spikes are challenging, it requires quite some careful adjustments and that should be coming in later levels. I am also considering to do manual chopping so you have to time the hits to keep yourself occupied without waiting periods.

I'm also glad that you found the Robby & Coppy timelapse inspirational enough to get you started with Ludum Dare - that makes me really happy! I hope you are enjoying the LD-experience =)

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-20T20:02:58Z

@acaral - Thanks =) I just checked itch.io and I couldn't see it being featured, maybe it was a random feature or something??

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-25T14:18:13Z

@king-kujito - thanks, yes, I can see that resemblance too! @mgsx - not sure whay that would be, hmm, haven't had any other reports of that or managed to reproduce it - I use Chrome too. @mateusboga - thanks - yes, it's a bit tricky and I am increasing gravity and speed a bit to make it a bit faster. I came across the duplicate named entry a few days after I submitted, but I see my URL is blot-1 so the other game launched using that name faster but I think that duplicate names may be common for themed games =)

Santa frowns to town by tanis 2018-12-04T21:03:39Z

Oh, my... I feel dizzy now =) I got in the zone wrapping packages and I don't know if it's good or bad but I reached a score of 149. I think the repetitive motion back and forth combined with the short looping music is a ticket for me to the nut house, haha. I will dream about this I am sure :) I probably would have liked a more rapid increase of difficulty to cut down on the play time but it did get stressful towards the end. It's fun when you get in a rhythm to get one elf doing package delivery every time he reaches the wrapping station but when you miss you lose that sync. Nice work!

Ordeals of Limbo by Cliff Lee CL 2018-12-16T11:58:10Z

The lowpoly art brought me here and I like the concept but I may be missing something vital? I can't get past level one :) I see the rhythm of the spikes go up and down (cool with rhythm btw =) and I also see that there is a path around the spikes. When my vision is blacked out, I never make it to any sort of destination - the audio queues aren't enough for localization and a speedrun across the spikes has me impaled before I reach anywhere to level up.

As Of Yet Unnamed by Flaterectomy 2018-12-15T19:38:23Z

I love the art style, it's really what captured my eye about this game. I also really enjoyed the timelapse! The mood of the game is spot on and the "over the top" patriotism is a great touch =) I tried to play this game in my browser and I found it difficult to get a "tactile" feel to grabbing the bodyguard and have him intercept the missiles and bombs. Often I'd catch the first one or two missiles and the third or fourth would come so fast that by the time I was about to act it had already passed all three bodyguards and the president's fate was already decided by that time =) Still, great game and thumbs up from me!

Suicide Sanctum by Hagge 2018-12-05T10:05:09Z

Hey, thanks for streaming my game, it was fun to watch. I played Suicide Sanctum and I thought it was a very clever interpretation of the theme! I like the idea of sacrificing your player to form new platforms to jump on - don't think I've seen that before so high on innovation for me. I would not have thought about freezing them in midair as you get hit by an arrow because my mind goes "why do they stay in the air??" - but you'd have to go through too many deaths to build up a mound to of corpses so I can see why you implemented such a solution. Fun game, thanks for making it!

HELL by Smeax 2018-12-04T12:59:39Z

I like the art and the tactility of the movement and when shooting. The camera shake was also nice. Clever with the idea that you have to sacrifice something with the powerups. At first I thought you had implemented forced Powerdowns which would have been cool too, but your choice is probably more fun to play. Nice work!

Space Traveler by SanyingLi 2018-12-04T22:37:49Z

I like the glow effect of the art but I also found spatial awareness to be difficult knowing if I was to hit a circle or not. I would have liked to play a bit longer but I have a real problem with motion sickness when it comes to smooth games that have a bit of a lerped camera follow in perspective so I couldn't play for more than five minutes for that very reason. Nice effort though. You can never go wrong with space stuff in my eyes =)

Action Tanks - The battle for Althea by CG_Fred 2018-12-05T10:18:28Z

I love the look of the tanks and the tracks/trails they leave behind. Very clean and "cute". A tank game like this has always been on my list to make ever since I played one called "Fire Power" (from 1989 =) in 2 player split screen! I was somehow expecting the tank to behave "move forward when pressing forward" and steer left/right (like a remote controlled car). Maybe it would have worked better with the steering for me if I used twin stick thumb controls =) I also liked the audio but I suppose it's been opted out for a reason? Nice and fun, great work!

Sirius Galactica by Call_me_Nutty 2018-12-04T22:45:49Z

As soon as I see a space game I need to try it. I felt kinda evil ejecting my crew members into space, especially as they make that life draining sound =) I was trying to shoot with the keyboard but it would only work to fire with the mouse for some reason? For a retro game I prefer to go all in keyboard. Nice retro art and suitable sound. I didn't find myself playing for too long but nice effort nevertheless!

Overpopulation by Centauri 2018-12-04T13:08:09Z

The idea reminded me a bit of "Papers Please" (but I haven't actually played that game but I imagine it was something along these lines). I found it easy to sacrifice some people that had spent 15 years in prison for gang rape and child murdering =) The walk animation was nice and altough I'm a big fan of low poly art I would have liked something rather than the same "naked" humanoid without any coloring but I understand considering the time constraints. In a game like this where there is some diversity of people I would still have recommended trying to go for some variations on the characters still. Clever idea though, let's hope it doesn't become reality in 182 years :)

Overpopulation by Centauri 2018-12-04T13:45:09Z

@lausemand - you're welcome. I can see why you would keep it "anonymous" graphic wise. Maybe for a future version? =) Yes, Parking Spaces was my LD42 game that turned into my first Android release game. Hope you like it :)

Sacrifice Bob by Renan Moura 2018-12-03T17:38:12Z

The title art in the blog stream brought me to test this game - nice art! I like the idea of a puzzle platformer - first I wasn't sure if I was encountered bugs (you never know for sure with LD games whether it's part of a puzzle or a bug) but I figured it out in the end. I like the mechanic you needed for the spinner to work and I also liked the added "stress" element of the third level. Nice effort! A few more levels would have been welcome, but I understand that level count is tricky.

The Cost of Living by Xenoxygene 2018-12-05T09:53:34Z

I like the built in tutorial, the level design/progression, and the different jump techniques that were introduced. Well done, especially with this being your first jam! See you at LD44 :)

PeonCraft - Sacrificed by Kornel Meszaros 2018-12-16T20:46:46Z

The low poly art drew me to this game as I am a great fan of low poly =) When I rated the game I noticed that the graphics entry was opted out of so I understand that it may have been asset art? Nevertheless, I like the look of the game. It was not so obvious why you died but I read in your description that it's the way the game acts when sacrificing. Fun idea to sacrifice scouts because it probably reflects how terrible their job must have been for real in the past. Thanks for your entry!

The Greater Evil by AndyGates01 2018-12-04T22:51:33Z

Haha, distorted guitars as you try to dodge a world full of priests, crosses, shining bibles, holy water. That scores high in the Humor category for me =) I didn't quiet understand what triggered the priests to hold up the cross to convert you from a distance. Liked the graphics, audio, and idea. Nice work!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Rhythmic $hooter by dingotime 2019-05-16T21:54:21Z

When I started this game it reminded me of the time I had my first PC - I had about the same frame rate in the latest games =) Clever to combine the rythmic system with a shooter but I couldn't help but falling back to feeling that it's a game that runs too slow. Maybe if the rythmic movement had a tweened smooth in/out it would increase the user experience. Looks pretty nice and colorful too, so nice work!

Rocket Slaver by M2tias 2019-05-20T20:02:01Z

Hey, I like this one! I like the fact that different enemies have different properties and drop items and it kept my interest to complete the game by collecting 10K gold =) I did run in to a few bugs, e.g. some of the ships, especially those that could be boarded, had a tendency to move either down or up beyond range of the guns and also when you boarded a ship the second time it would destruct and you were still stuck for some time. But other than that, I enjoyed the game and it had some retro art to it that I thought was nice too. Well done!!

Blood Money by Imphenzia 2019-04-29T09:15:06Z

@gruni thanks! Yes, for 8 ludum dares I have had feedback gor swampy controls so this time I put direct feedback of controls in - it looks a bit erratic but I agree - as it gets more busy it is useful. I probably need to add some bullets from enemy types as I managed to play until my ship got super powerful - ir maybe balance it in some other way :)

Blood Money by Imphenzia 2019-04-29T16:48:24Z

@shp - yes, it's a shame to lose the definition of the models in ortho but I tend to not like the perspective distortion on top down shooters. Maybe ortho on a slight angle would be better, but that could still look wrong. Yes, the glitching is an issue - the bullet pool is overfilled, I was going to grow it but I noticed it 1 minute past the deadline =)

@jjjjason Thanks - I was trying to get the most out of the simple system but I still think it's too easy to dodge everything so I may have to introduce some pattern shooting enemies.

I have somewhat of a beast of a machine as I have just upgraded so I have now idea how this game really performs. Has anyone tested it on low to medium range spec?? I am using primitive colliders for collision detection, probably not optimal for this type of game but I had to find an efficient workflow =)

Blood Money by Imphenzia 2019-05-16T22:55:25Z

@hadesfury, @flashviper, @uchiro - thanks for the feedback! I am making an updated version based on the feedback I've received and it's funny how tweaking of parameters can improve the game. Looking forward to sharing a newer version after the compo ends. The difference of the cubes are not too apparent, I agree. They gradually improve rate of fire, number of weapons, and the velocity/damage - but I should make it more obvious when collected what is improved.

I have been away on holiday followed by an intense period at work - but now I'm back and with 4 days to go I am able to allocate some time to play and rate games.

Blood Money by Imphenzia 2019-05-20T20:38:52Z

@elemental-zeal-game-studios - thanks - glad you liked the game and the art. I'm trying to add some more balancing, difficulty levels and playability in a newer version now.

@amour-du-pain - thanks, yes, time was a huge limitation this time so I had to cut back on stuff like I normally implement like a bit more polished menu system and state handling.

@shunaky - thanks for your feedback! The game is more of a twin stick shooter compared to an asteroid clone which is why I opted to make it direct movement in any direction so you could aim anywhere - it would probably be more natural with a hand controller instead of mouse + keyboard. The inertia was deliberately left out due to the hectic debris field as I've had a lot of feedback in previous entries about movement being sluggish with more accurate physics. But I still truly appreciate your feedback!

@jaywoody - thanks, yes, I'm adding some more to the gameplay itself in a post-compo version.

@sergi-montaner thanks - that's cool that it played well on touch screen - but on my mobile phone I could not get movement with HTML5? What device did you play on? I'll see if I can add some texture damage to modules to illustrate that parts are taking damage - that's a good point.

@simplepotential thanks for your feedback. The spawning may have too much of a random factor to it, maybe I should try to balance the spawns for a bit more predictability. With the controls, I understand that they feel a bit direct initially but when it gets hectic it's probably for the better =)

@nick-rafalski thanks - I tried to find a balance that would cater for people trying the game without too much previous experience, something I've learned in LD is that people have so many games that they want to try that if it's too difficult you risk them dropping the game before long. Glad you liked it! I've got a tutorial coming out on YouTube any day now about modular spaceships and the texturing method.

@tinymushroom cheers, I normally allocate 2-3 hours for music but I literally had 15 minutes to make it this time so I was prepared to release without any music at all. I have to mention that I use a few arpeggio presets that assist a bit with the not sequence of the lead instrument for example.

@msiddeek and @ian-kettlewell thanks guys, glad you both like it and I'm happy that you feel it introduced something new thanks to the theme.

@m2tias thank you, good point about the powerups, they do look a bit boring - I'll try to improve that. I noticed that the ever increasing power of player weapons got a bit out of hand to say the least too =) I'll add both some tactility when you pick up powerups so you see improvements of your ship and I'll introduce some tutorials as well as difficulty settings in the next version.

Unbalanced Silly Slot Game by SimplePotential 2019-05-19T22:47:19Z

Good for having so little time to make it! I thought it was amusing that they accelerated towards the high paying machines - I can see that in a Vegas casino in my mind as the rumor spreads. Kept me occupied for a while and the idea itself could probably be developed but I think that the objective should be made clearer in a more polished game as it was somewhat confusing (I tried to play without reading the instructions first, doh).

Gladiator Souls by hadesfury 2019-05-16T23:02:52Z

Nice graphics and audio! I jumped right into the game play and fought some of the gladiators, but I didn't quite grasp how I was making the money? It didn't appear to result in me getting money if I hit the gladiator, but it did count up if I clicked on them - or was that just a coincidence as I was rewarded with money for staying alive? I found that somewhat confusing - but it looks like a nice survival type of game =)

Sword of Hearts by MSiddeek 2019-05-20T17:14:17Z

Wonderful game! I reached the sword and the journey was time well spent. I think it was a very clever implementation of strategically dying in certain places to produce the necessary block to solve the puzzles. I like the "old school" method of using rooms instead of a side scroller as well. The graphic was suitably nice and so was the audio. The blood cough made me cringe a bit and I felt sorry for the little character =) Also a nice variety of challenges with lifts, saw blades, jumps, spikes, and stuff. The only thing I could find to pick on is that the level progression was somewhat jumpy and I would probably have ordered the rooms a bit. Some rooms I died a few times at to get the items to become positioned correctly and the next room I would just run through. Maybe that's not necessarily a bad thing though, maybe it would become boring if every room was more difficult than the previous one. Great job on this game!

With All My Heart by Elemental Zeal Game Studios 2019-05-19T19:01:49Z

Nicely done! Classic tower defense but adapted to the theme in a clever way. I thought that the polish was nice with a tutorial, different defense items and enemies, the ability to get a build "menu" when placing an object, as well as the ability to upgrade or recycle the items to regain life. I really liked playing - thanks for your entry!

SimuCorp by Nick Rafalski 2019-05-19T22:59:03Z

I really like this game for many reasons! I like the idea of being the office manager having to keep track of incoming and outgoing cash flow. I like the simple pixel art graphics and like the audio it was quite comical =) I thought it was funny to see the profiles as you were about to hire people and in my case now it's easy to turn down hiring "Karl Yorktown" who has no quality of work and hardly any work ethic but he want's to get paid a lot and he's very motivated (to get paid I'm sure =). If I was to try to add any constructive feedback it would be that it's somewhat difficult to gather an understanding on who in the workforce isn't performing so good and who to fire as it's quite fast paced and the guys overlap at times. But that's a minor thing. I'm scoring this game high in overall, mood, and humor categories especially. Congrats, a really great job on this one!

A Small Rocket by uchiro 2019-05-16T23:15:26Z

The artwork really caught my attention with this game - it's a very nice style and very suitable for the game. Love it =) My only criticism for the art would be to make the run animation slightly more in tune with the rate of movement as the character floats about a bit - but that's just a minor thing. For me, it's basically a find collect mechanic so maybe not so innovative in the game design - still, great work!

Phil, The Leprechaun Of Gold. by INCD021 2019-05-16T22:07:21Z

I like the pixel art and the controls felt direct and quite responsive - saying that, I kept missing jumps as I bumped the platforms. I ran into some bugs as I couldn't collect a few of the coins, I just passed through them. It was funny that the "damned children" chanting "money money money" =) The audio was suitable but somewhat confusing with what appeared to be random pitches of the jumps - or did they have any game affecting significance with the pitch differences? Good work, I liked the mood in this game.

Jailocorp by jaywoody 2019-05-19T19:19:13Z

For someone who was always intrigued about Myst back in the day but never had the patience to play it - this is quite appealing, but I didn't manage to solve the puzzles, argh. One of my biggest puzzle to get over initially was the mouse movement since I play all my FPS games with invert Y-axis =)

Monolith by jsec 2019-05-17T18:12:24Z

Classic asteroids retro look with the simple vector art - I especially liked the explosions. I found that entering a room it was quite easy to just be stationary and do a round sweep of fire to clear the room in a single 360 rotation. Also, I reached below zero on my life counter (which is extremely grannular btw =) but I didn't die or the game didn't end. Also, I cleared all the rooms but nothing seemed to happen?

L.Y.L.A. - Your personal Living Your Life Assistant by Gruni 2019-05-16T22:35:45Z

The questions makes you think a bit about the decisions you make and makes you question a bit why you make them the way you do - that's quite a good aspect of the game I think. I realize I don't like to travel too much since I stayed at home in most choices =) For someone like me who thinks there is too much text even in comic books, I found it a bit too text heavy - but the meshed backdrop added some nice visuals. Nice work and welcome to LD, hope you return for future events!

Torture For A Living by Yorsh 2019-05-16T22:00:07Z

Haha, in this day and age with all the political correctness - I loved this =) Now that I have 3 kids, I never really make any brutal games but rewind the clock 10 years and I was making prototypes similar to this. Not sure why I don't anymore, I still think it's quite comical to just go with totally crazy ideas. I though the animations, especially the expressiveness, was excellent. Good audio too. Also scored good with humor for me, mixing in some kisses and thumbs up. Considering how many moves you implemented in such short time, I think you could make a cool brawl / fighting game in this style. Please let me know if you do =) Great effort!

invertebrae by jjjjason 2019-05-16T22:51:23Z

I didn't latch on to the UI interactions at first - I tried to type, click on the words, drag the words to the prompt, but I had to look in the comments to realize I should "collect" highlighted words in the text. Once that became apparent, it was quite an innovative way to design the UI to drag and drop the words. I was playing games in the early Sierra era and liked the old graphic "type command" games even though the game design back then was flawed in many ways - but I still like seeing a prompt text commands. I also found the XML implementation interesting, I haven't done any conversational or stoyline based games before so this taught me a bit about how to approach that. As for the game, I played it for a while to progress through the chain of events but it didn't keep me too captivated, probably because I am not so great/patient at reading =) The music was somewhat repetitive but at the same time it had a nice mood to it. Thanks for your entry!

Your life is currency by hypp 2019-05-16T21:33:16Z

The top down race circuit style brought me to this game =) I found the path a bit too narrow and with the steering being direct I had some issues to not crash into the sides.

Coin Coin ! by mgsx 2019-05-17T18:37:23Z

Nice infinite runner/scroller idea with the different line/lane choices. I found it a bit too easy or slow in terms of difficulty progression but otherwise it was a nice game with enjoyable art and music. Nicely done!

Solitairey Life by Ian Kettlewell 2019-05-20T17:19:31Z

I got 5 stars (I think) at year 19 and I go the "won life" message too, but I'm not quite sure what I was doing in the end =) I think the feedback of the cards and what they do could be improved with some player feedback but maybe there is some standard solitare mechanic that I should be aware of maybe?? =) I'm also not sure why "Rainbow poo" is a tragic event?

Bloodletter by shp 2019-05-16T22:40:40Z

Quite cool that you can make a FPS game in a weekend nowdays =) I like the graphics (both models and textures) as well as the audio in the game. Great that you implemented settings to but for an old-school player like me it was lacking one absolute critical setting for me when it comes to FPS games and that is invert Y-axis. I spent most of the time in the game staring at the floor or the sky =) Good work though - nice game!

Hell's reefs by Amour Du Pain 2019-05-17T17:38:03Z

This looks really beautiful - I like the colors, the voxel / low-poly look, and the lighting. Also, from a gamedev/technical perspective, the map generation makes me curious too, including the path-finding, navigation, and collisions =) As for the game play, I navigated around the map for a while but I somewhat lost patience wandering about the map as I couldn't see myself on the minimap - but I guess that is part of the design that one should identify from the obstacles where you are and figure things out from there? Thumbs up, especially visually! =)

TimeForYourSouls by Suchista 2019-05-16T21:48:19Z

Even though I love time travel I found it a bit confusing to figure out what was going on =) Saying that, it was an innovative twist on the platformer to include the reverse time mechanic and with the system of having the switches alter the level. The controls were a bit "swampy" maybe but you get used to them after a while. I often fall victim to allowing the physics engine to maintain realism with inertia and it's something I've often had feedback on myself in previous ludum dares. When you iterate the prototype of a game it's easy to quickly get used to how it feels personally and it's also difficult to predict what first time players will feel. Nice concept though!

They ran out of mana by Sergi Montaner 2019-05-19T22:40:52Z

I've never really played card games before but the concept has started to interest me a lot more lately. Since I haven't played many (read any) similar games, I'm not sure how to feedback on it but what I did like was the variety of cards and the fact that you had card animations instead of them, for example, just disappearing as you played them. Well done!

Pastemates Overdrive!!! by TinyMushroom 2019-05-19T23:08:08Z

I like the idea of a delivery game and I think it could become fun to dash around trying to make deliveries on time and prioritizing the ones that would pay out more etc. For this entry, I found the collision behavior to be a bit crazy as my car seamed to go a bit all over the place and with the boxy art I wasn't too sure what was good or what was a hazard if that makes any sense? Still, good work and see you back for LD45? =)

Suicide Slime Arena by Abitscared 2019-05-16T21:38:54Z

I like the art style and the platformer physics. Controls were good too! Impressive that you also implemented a shop system with weapons and I kept wasting lives by using the betting option, haha. Nice work!

payblood by eyedromeda 2019-05-16T22:23:48Z

Top down fighting game - first time I have ever tried that but it gave it a brutal "in the ring" feel =) Smart concept with the body parts for blood currency. Also impressive that you implemented the mechanic of all the weapons as well as the ability to graphically lose the limbs. On top of that, you got the AI fighter acting like a somewhat worthy opponent :) I ended up losing a leg outside the ring which incapacitated me and preventing me from being able to move (I could still kick shockingly enough =) but the AI fighter never approach me when I was outside the ring so I had to end the game on that note. Nice work!

WANTED! by Clickbait 2019-05-18T00:09:42Z

Oh, I was really excited about this - I love top down racing. But I couldn't quite get away off the line? I gather I had to time W or Up Arrow just as the count down reached zero but the cops always caught up to me as if I wasn't going fast enough?

WANTED! by Clickbait 2019-05-19T07:43:58Z

@clickbait thanks for the additional info. I wasn't sure of it was a bug or if I did something wrong because just as I pressed forward at the moment of the count down it felt as my car was going half the speed of the cops so they caught me right away, and then with the little bump it appeared as tjough they were going to give me a brake but then I was going a quarter of their speed so they insta caught me again before the first turn. I'll try it again though, I must have missed something. It looks cool :) balancing game for LD is not an easy task but based on feedback I have received it seems favorable to rather make it a bit easier than a bit harder than expected. If time allows, I think having a difficulty option is beneficial.

NecroBlood by Little Valhalla 2019-05-17T18:00:30Z

Visually awesome - I really like the pixel art and my 9yo son and 7yo daughter got interested. I am playing and rating games while they are trying to go to sleep and this one really caught their attention. I said, "It's a nice looking game right?" My son said, "What do you mean dad? It's an awesome looking game!" I guess the game mechanic is a tower defense mechanic but all the enemies take a direct path but I can understand that it may have been tricky to include more navigation and dynamic obstacles to stir up the game play a bit. I ran out of life/energy as the wave was slowly progressing and I knew that I was doomed a few minutes before the game really ended so it would have been nice with a way to get out of that - maybe a potential coordinated and tricky to achieve "super move" somehow =) Great job!

NecroBlood by Little Valhalla 2019-05-17T18:38:41Z

@shunaky thanks for reconnecting with comments to my comment =) good luck with your post-jam version!

Face to Death by pequenodev 2019-05-17T17:49:19Z

Very nice looking game - I really liked the art style and animations. The audio was nice too but since you opted out of that category I gather it was not made for this game specifically. I liked the idea of the game but when you got stuck to a gum it felt like you were quite doomed as I couldn't find away from accelerating away from the "wheely" enemies that were chasing me. I also kept pressing space to jump even though you specified the keys clearly - my brain just kept saying to me that space is jumping =) Nice work!

LD45 — Start with nothing

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-11T20:29:04Z

Finally, a week of work behind me and it's a weekend. I can begin to have some fun and play & rate some LD games.

@t1a2z - cheers, glad you like it!

@eugsun - thanks, so did I during the development of the game =)

@arielle-stroman - thank you, I managed to get knocked out in some stylish ways too while making the game!

@tasakasama - Thanks, yes- I spent quite some time modelling, to the point where I wondered if I would implement everything. I put all assets in the game except a spade and a DVD player.

@maggardjosh - Appreciate it. Yes, I decided to try to do one or two lines for each piece, I had some time left to do it so I had to give it a go. Good point about having more entries.

@pandan - Oh, I thought I put a link on the itch page to my LD-entry, I will have to double check. I noticed that she didn't stop chasing even outside her own apartment but I figured it was OK, after all, you are running off with her stuff =) Also, I tried to fix so she wouldn't get too stuck, if that happens most often a swing of the broom will clear the path.

@thepelranthean - Thank you, glad you like the look of it and that it ticks most boxes - I definitely had fun doing it! Often you'll probably get run down but with some clever navigation you can beat the AI movement around corners so you'll get out of sight.

@pavel-ivanov - Thanks!

@joshua-young - Great, thanks and glad you like it! It does have quite a bit of sound in it actually, couldn't have been an audio issue maybe?

@mrpiedpiper - Much appreciated - and thanks for your feedback, all fair points. Mini achievements I thought was great in particular to have some goals. You can complete the level by moving everything across (except the carpets) and getting fully dressed. I think that's around 6500 points or something.

@pestodesign - Thanks - I agree that the broom is a bit loud and also the 3D-positioning of the sounds could be improved, volume does not fade properly. Plus, my modified voice is probably annoying (but so is my normal voice :)

@flaterectomy - Thank you - glad you recognize the low poly style! I love making that type of art, simple and colorful, quick, and quite easy to animate =) Fair point about having to wait, if I had more time that was on my list to improve.

@benjamin123 - Yes, that works, but the NPC is quite effective at clearing any blockage I think/hope.

@dawnscream - Glad to hear you loved it and thanks for commenting. I was hoping to add a way to place furniture better but I didn't like the idea of making it look like an editor - but maybe some more precision throwing would have been possible.

@skalex - Thanks, AI reacting to audio was something I considered but I figured it would react all the time so I opted against it (also lacking the time to implement that).

@humphreysmedia - Cheers, yes some better animation to movement speed could be good to anchor them a bit more in the environment. Glad you liked the nav method - I thought it would be a nice change.

@gamejuv - Thanks, glad you like it and I would agree about movement speed probably, maybe I should have increased with difficulty level for the player and not only the NPC.

@inky - Thank you! I spent quite some time thinking about the game design and I didn't come up with the idea straight away - I kept modelling stuff while thinking of what to do.

@bismark - Whey, thanks a lot! I am happy to celebrate my 10th entry with that comment :)

@shrapx - Thanks! I haven't made a stealth game before so I thought it'd be fun to try it. I wonder why the audio was so low, did you play WebGL or Win download? Yes, very much modelling and to the point I started to worry about being able to use it all, haha.

@mortus - Haha, I asked myself that very question. It seems like a stupid thing to do!! Yes, I found that blocking method was viable when I did my final playtesting. Originally you could totally block it off but a swing of the broom now clears many blocking attempts.

.. continued

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-11T20:29:19Z

..

@t-bo - Thank you! The piano was my favorite asset too - big, heavy, lots of keys, and I managed to record my own piano to get the impact sounds... didn't destroy my piano in the process though, just pressed the keys at the same time for a number of recordings and mixed it with smacking my hand on the couch =) I wanted to try a navigation movement this time but responsiveness and maybe speed could do with tweaking.

@rodrigo-denubila - Thanks, glad you like it! I had some more animations and walk cycles that I ended up not using and I was a bit concerned that the guy got totally hidden when carrying big stuff - and that the big things sweep through the walls a bit when you carry but I didn't want him to get stuck all the time.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I will now start playing your games and returning feedback.

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-11T20:57:34Z

@mrpiedpiper Carrying something has no importance actually, if you are sight, you get chased =) Even if you stand in the hallway and never enter her apartment, she'll come out and knock you out :D

Pangolin in the Sky by ThePelranthean 2019-10-11T21:10:21Z

I'm always a fan of low poly, so thumbs up there =) I found the camera switching a bit confusing to say the least. I couldn't see any platforms from close camera, and from the distant camera I couldn't move (at first?) - and then I jumped from the close person camera, and switched to the distant camera while I was in the air to land on an orange box. Then I realized you could reveal new tiles in the end.

Bob by Flaterectomy 2019-10-11T21:38:05Z

I was excited to come here, I have been a fan of your entries since I first came across one of your games that was Wreckless Rally. I like the calm mood of this game, and the diving mechanic was a nice touch =) Constructing stuff is always fun and what better than to revive some childhood memories of raft building. The one I built as a child was the size of one of those pieces though =) As much as I love doing low poly, you seem to love doing pixel art games and I am a big fan of that genre too. Nice relaxing game play and creative twist with naming the raft sizes in a funny way. Great work and see you in LD46!

Dear Diary by Rodrigo Denúbila 2019-10-11T23:19:01Z

I like the idea of this game and how the rooms and items materialize as the story unfolds. Nice voice acting too! I would have liked to be able to move slightly faster and I found the progression a bit too slow to maintain my focus, but that might just be my impatience so for people that are more into this genre of games it's probably not a problem =) Very nice effort though!

Assault on a quiet village by uchiro 2019-10-11T23:10:52Z

I love the low poly art and animations. The long clothes really moved well as you ran around. Also nice with the environment, the character animations, and the lighting / mood. That all scored high for me, but I didn't understand so much of the game play though.

Duck Fortress by shrapx 2019-10-11T22:53:24Z

Interesting maze games, I was a bit confused at the rhythm based concept. First I moved by tapping the WASD keys and they didn't respond, then sometimes they responded so I thought it was a rhythm I had to find in silence. Later, I realized I could press and hold for movement but there would be a delay before movement. I got past a lot of enemies and moved around the environment but I failed to complete the game.

Mongol Space Program by mortus 2019-10-11T22:59:28Z

I like the art style and concept of hand drawn 2D sprites in a 3D world. I wanted to play this more, but I had issues that the key sequence that came up would disappear as the horses moved away? Even when I thought I hit the correct keys at the right time, it disappeared. Nice music too.

Protodroid of the Void by Bismark 2019-10-11T22:43:52Z

Nice lighting effects and I also like the idea of hacking since my day job is related to IT security =) I found movement to be a bit slow but a good prototype to explore different mechanics.

Trashwars by pestodesign 2019-10-11T21:30:04Z

Why do I keep missing instructions - I started the game, couldn't make anything happen, looked on the game page (but on itch, saw no instructions), tried again, nothing happened. Then I realized I was running in full screen and it cropped off everything at the bottom of the screen. Played in windowed mode, still didn't understand what to do... then hammered the keyboard and something happened. Then figured out 1-5 :) Then I noticed now that I was going to feedback that you had a super cool instruction posted on the LD-page of course, haha. I was not a great fan of the game play itself, but I did like the idea. Mostly I liked the artstyle, mood, and music. I think it would be worth including instructions in the game too on the menu screen - for silly people like me :)

Start with "nothing" by sommerlilie 2019-10-11T22:28:40Z

I am not quite sure what I was playing =) I summoned some things, zombies, and brains were eaten, but I failed to make many conclusions of what the objective was - if there is one? I scored it higher on innovation though as it was more innovative than my brain would comprehend at this time!

Acorn Rush by MrPiedPiper 2019-10-11T21:22:31Z

The environment, animals and music was cute and relaxing so it was a nice experience to play. It took me a while before I figured out that collection process as I thought it would push the acorns and not pull them behind me =) Nice entry.

Mission Start With Nothing by Benjamin123 2019-10-11T21:44:21Z

Cool with a FPS in the compo =) Unfortunately I get very motion sick from many FPS games, especially those that float very smooth and glides forward so I could only play a few rounds. A bit unconventional to hit/fire with E so I had to go out and read the instructions again. Visually, I think the background should have been gray so it would blend in with the fog - I think that could have given it a really mystic feel.

Garden Circuit by pandan 2019-10-11T21:03:46Z

What a nice compo entry!! First of all, I really like the art style, I love low poly =) Nice colors, objects, and animations including the walk cycle and movement. As for the game play, it was maybe a bit too slow for me, or repetitive, but I understand all the challenges that are involved in making a game like this and testing to improve gameplay is tough, especially when you have so many assets going on!! I really like this entry mainly from the visual aspects, so great job! I should also mention that even though I'm not a great fan of the genre itself, I am sure many others are!

Trash Can Adventures by t1a2z 2019-10-11T20:37:55Z

Hey, nice entry! I like that you also included the highscore feature so I could chase my score. I only managed to get 220 as I struggled a bit to make it from side to side in time - randomness played a big part in the ability to score. Maybe it would have been nice to make it possible to collect more in time, at least early on in the rounds. I wasn't too sure I was supposed to collect the bombs?? =) Nice with audio and graphics too.

Oracle Pine by Swanijam 2019-10-11T22:33:48Z

This game brings my mind back to Myst back in the 90's. Interesting puzzles. The graphics, music, and very fitting mood. I struggle with motion sickness from some titles that glide too smooth so my play time got limited with that unfortunately preventing me from solving the puzzles, argh.

Nully by Joshua Young 2019-10-11T20:53:01Z

Nice work - I like the way you introduced the game with what to press and he ran off into the level. For a while I was wondering if I could do anything to get way from the first "monster" but when I saw Mods 4/6 I realized that I should somehow collect more - the cloud he turned into I thought was collectable too but found out it wasn't :) Second enemy reminded me a bit about cup head, especially with it being in grays too. Nice music (that is now stuck in my head...) Good entry!

Nothing is my car ! by T-Bo 2019-10-11T23:06:07Z

Haha, I laughed at the idea of not having a car and that I didn't stop him from racing down the street. I was always a fan of Outrun and the old school road scroller brought back some memories. Humor category scored good for me for the thought of a driving game with no car. I also like that he sits in the tree at the menu =) Clever to have the car parts available not only to pick up but also to act as lives as you progressed. Nice with low poly art too :) Good job!

Just A Minute by Skalex 2019-10-11T22:16:42Z

Haha, I like the $10 balloon damage insurance! Nice pixely art and humor in the game. For someone like me who has little patience to read in games I found it a bit of a waiting game. The thugs in the alley took me out (I suppose, it faded there?) and I don't know if I needed to repeat all the conversations again or if I should just run past them the second time.

Venture by eugsun 2019-10-11T20:45:42Z

Hi, I thought this was fun, simple yet innovative =) Now my space key hurts though, haha. It worked up a bit of stress in a good balanced way. I loved that $100k lets you live for a few months in San Francisco, I remember having to pay a fortune for the hotel when I last went to GDC!

Here was my best score: score.PNG

Nice work!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-11T22:21:01Z

Simple mechanic that get's your mouse aim in check =) I struggled to get past 100 for some reason, feels like I got a lot more enemies coming compared to your animated gif above though?? =) Nice compo entry!

Nothing On Frontlines by Pavel Ivanov 2019-10-11T21:16:16Z

Nice combo between survival and tower defense. First I thought it was way too easy until I realized I was just shooting down people in the menu screen, haha. Nice work implementing all the mechanics. The massive enemy scared me from being huge. I survived for about two minutes, probably not the best of scores =)

SpaceShift by Dawnscream 2019-10-11T22:10:53Z

Nice music and choice of colors in the game. Unfortunately I suffer from motion sickness when I play smooth floating FPS games so I could only play your game for a few minutes. Still, I like the idea of adding abilities and having the short range of view to create a navigational puzzle.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Save The Pink Skins! by gajop 2020-05-03T13:04:56Z

Hi, I finally got around to playing LD entries - sorry for being late =) Cool game, I made a similar one called Planetary Remains back in LD38 so this game gives me double retro vibes =) Great job and sticking to the theme :)

Curie by DLC Scar 2020-05-03T13:02:33Z

Great job! I finally got around to start testing LD games, sorry for the delay =) Congrats on your first LD entry and for finishing it! It feels very complete with a menu screen, options, and a cool UI - that's usually stuff that has to be sacrificed =) Like the retro look, feel, and sound. I also thought it was good with the radiation twist on the survival game. Great job!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Blue by Imphenzia 2021-04-26T02:27:00Z

@5you thanks for the heads up - as usual I forgot to set it to public :) should work now.

Deep Blue by Imphenzia 2021-04-26T08:01:10Z

@ondy1985 thanks, yes - the modeling and animation was about 2 hours I think - some challenges to do the necessary finflipping movements to get them decent =) Yes, every time you reach a depth it will add 1 meter PLUS additional meters if you had a lot of air to spare as you surfaced, so it could increase by 1-10 meters each time. Most of the development time is putting it together in Unity as you suspected.

@oxrock Yes - the gameplay is basic "on-button" mechanic, haha =) It just may appeal to people who can't stop just can't stop if there is a new goal to reach... "I wonder how deep I can go".

Deep Blue by Imphenzia 2021-05-02T11:48:29Z

@jin9310 - Thanks, I was considering a golf-swing type of indicator to help out with precision but... ran out of time to implement that :)

@fdk - Thanks - I don't know why the upswim is trickier, I tried to figure that out before submitting haha.

@purpledartfrog) - Cheers, I had a great (limited) time making it :) Hope you enjoyed participating too and I stopped by to play and rate your game - nice work on that one!

@larsdu - first time I reversed it - cheers :)

@arthur-mairs - Glad you like it and also happy to hear that my content managed to help you out :) I checked it out to test and rate, well done!

@lungtakumi - Thank you - yes, it's funny how no matter how pressured we are with all of life's committments the creativity of making a game and Ludum Dare finds is way into our priorities - it's just too much fun :) You're welcome, played and rated your game - great job!

Will continue to read and respond at next opportunity!

Blue Eye - Salvage & Rescue by PurpledArtFrog 2021-05-02T11:26:53Z

Hi, nice job! I play on a superwide (3440 x 1440) so just a heads up that the menu items at the main menu were getting a bit cut off - but it didn't cause any problems. I like the 2D graphics and the mood - and that you could change the speed of the game during gameplay. Also good with the warnings of seismic activity, but quite often I got hit by a boulder to take me out and it felt like I couldn't avoid it in time. Did I also see sinking whales after the seismic activity? :)

Monster Tower by LungTakumi 2021-05-02T11:45:37Z

I enjoyed playing this game :) Funny to have a game where you go down platforms instead of the traditional going up. I found myself having a good time as I dodged the boss flames and tried to time the leaps! Good job! A few things, it would have been cool if the camera followed the player somewhat more direct - I found myself sometimes falling out of the screen like a leap of faith and sometimes I was lucky enough to survive by a platform off screen :) I like the mechanic of the different platforms spin/bounce/spikes and the enemies. The style of that lava monster is familiar!

Edit: Oh, my score was 50 btw, maybe not so high :)

The Mystery of Stalore-9 by Arthur Mairs 2021-05-02T11:36:59Z

Hi, I've never attempted to do a 1st person entry for LD - like the amount of content you got in once you got down into the different underwater stations. I had some issues were my screen go back, was that because I died or was it a glitch? I was reading the captains log for example, and then it went black - but then I noticed I had some leeches behind me that I took out so I assume they killed me when I was reading? :) I didn't have enough time to play it properly but nice job on your entry!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Golf N' Grenades by Imphenzia 2018-04-23T08:49:17Z

Thanks! Yes, I know the controls are maybe not optimal for golfing, but I decided I couldn't spend more time tweaking them and, as you mention @benpeterson, it ads a bit to the challenge and you do get better with some practice. I may consider tweaking them for a post-LD version but, everyone, please try to describe how you want the controls to be if you could choose. Thanks again!

Golf N' Grenades by Imphenzia 2018-04-23T09:49:48Z

Thanks @IndieLucky, yes, strafing would improve aligning and I will think about a better way to implement the traditional golf swing! Great ideas!

Hmm, maybe a candidate for some multiplayer as well since I need to practice that come to think of it =)

Would it make more sense to have own grenades to drop and swing at instead of scattered ones?

Golf N' Grenades by Imphenzia 2018-04-26T05:01:15Z

Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone! I will go through all of your games tonight to and play and rate :)

Golf N' Grenades by Imphenzia 2018-05-02T22:34:20Z

Thanks everyone - I'm working on improved controls for a post version and I'm also planning to add multiplayer and some other neat features :)

Cart.PNG

Yes @jonathan-lorenz the music and low poly art was made during the 48h (can be seen in the timelapse above).

Golf with Guns by Issac 2018-04-26T10:59:35Z

Funny that we went for such similar concepts, just switch the gun for grenades in my case, other than that - islands, water, zombies/enemies, golf, and all the rest =) And thank you(!) for implementing inverted Y axis. I liked the shotgun audio sound effect too - was that created from scratch or were some base samples used? Nice work :)

Wreckless Rally by Flaterectomy 2018-04-26T10:07:53Z

Artwork is really nice, it really caught my attention! Clever combination of genres although the gameplay didn't maintain my attention for too long, maybe because I want to race these beautiful cars as a more traditional Amiga "Super Cars" game =) Wonderful job though!

Bright Voice by NORRIMO 2018-04-26T11:06:31Z

I got stuck after the second challenge, or am I missing something? The audio was really nice - played with headphones and the ambient atmosphere was a nice touch in addition to the audio queues.

Ace Golf: Blade Brawlers by elHombreBanana 2018-04-24T13:40:52Z

Hey, I got here from your comment and fun to see another golf game in this LD for sure =) I really liked your entry. Your came feels really solid, nice with the blitz dash option and the action nature of the game. I also like the zoom in to aim as you get close to the ball - I think I may implement that style for my post-version of my game since aiming is difficult in my game. Over all, great effort and well done!

Harvest Hook by MaikelOrtega 2018-04-26T10:19:45Z

Looks and sounds nice! What format are your graphic objects in - is it bitmap or some form of vector? Looks and scales really good. I like the rotating planet mechanic but would like to have some physics velocity momentum of the hook for some reason, I found myself dragging it a around a fair bit. Although I like the look of the game I didn't find myself playing it for too long but very possibly because it's not the type of genre(s) I usually fall for. Nice work though - really solid and polished!

It's Not Lupus! by Deozaan 2018-04-26T10:46:30Z

Nice graphics and it the orbital shooting inward mechanic felt rewarding, I found it difficult to contain the outbreak though (and that's when still doing a correct diagnose). My patience for reading is notoriously bad, however, so I found it difficult to maintain interest. That's probably nothing wrong with the game, just my own attention span =) Great job!

Hopscotch by jcgamedev 2018-04-26T10:27:13Z

Hey, I want to try this but I have no friends around and it was too tricky to try to play both controls myself - mind warp :) I will try again if someone joins me. I can see it being a fun social experience because gone are the days of single computer multiplayer it feels like. I like the idea of combining turn based by alternating turns but still having stuff to do for both players at all times.

Tsun Tsun Button Mash by Team Infernus 2018-04-26T10:38:40Z

Haha, lately I've played a lot of Roblox with my children and they love games where you just click to grow/evolve - I try to join them but a few hundred clicks in my patience runs out :)

Ratty's Stew: An Immersive Cooking Simulation by joekickass 2018-04-26T11:11:19Z

I will let my kids try this one too - I think they will enjoy the cute art style =) I like the environment but I think the mechanic would benefit from faster physics / higher gravity for some more rapid platformer style controls. Nice entry!

Sherpa Tetris by Weston Walker 2018-04-24T07:11:09Z

Clever combo of genres! As a fan of Tetris and Mount Everest expeditions I had to try this game :) Nice with the RPG elements, I didn't make it to the top yet due to lack of stamina. What is the logic for the path offered after each round?

READY SET DRESS! by SHINBAXTER 2018-04-26T10:53:12Z

First of all - credits to achieving such a cool retro feel to this game with everything from the raster graphics to the audio voice sample and implementation of road movement. I really like the graphics and the way it captures the past. For me it was way to difficult to master and I didn't really catch the whole outfit switching mechanic although it's probably more obvious than I realize :) Great job!

Scarecrow (Farming + FPS Horde Mode) by keravcin 2018-05-05T13:54:22Z

The mood and creep factor with the simple figures, dark level, and especially the sound, had me going for a while! I ended up using up most of my ammo before I finally managed to plant some seeds and by then the zombies got me =) I would have liked to have played a bit longer but some FPS games with smooth movement gets me motion sick and on top of that I am so used to inverse Y axis on the mouse that I kept aiming in the wrong direction =) I would recommend adding a WebGL compile in the future as it will probably attract more players. Good effort and well done!

Frogs vs. Cats by cincodenada 2018-04-24T07:24:51Z

I like the retro art and the game reminded me of the good old days of MUDs and text based descriptions of what you see. I found the controls and general movement a bit stale and it didn't feel too aligned with jumping onto platforms etc. I also had some issues with not being able to inspect/enter, X key had no effect. Aren't the cats supposed to damage me btw? =)
