the metaphysical plane has collapsed. Again ! :) i did'nt really understand what i was doing, especially with the spectial attack, but that was cool ^^ well done :) Nice graphics and music too!

didn't understand controls at first too, but i like exploring parts in the games. couldn't get to super attack :( also space ends before you notice!

Hello Godot developer!

I was quite overwhelmed and confused when the game started--didn't know what was going on or why. I see instructions for controls on your game page here, but maybe you could add a little bit more about the mechanics so it's clear what to do. I finally kiiiinda got the hang of it after a while, but I'm not sure I was very good. There were still colored cubes that didn't appear to have a matching power to attack with, and I'm not sure what the differences were with the special attacks, either. So some sort of mechanics explanation somewhere might help everyone engage with your game better. :) Great music, very colorful and I love geometric shapes. :) It's possible some sound effects for the different attacks (not just firing, but some sort of audio feedback that your attack's actually registering) might be helpful. Just spitballing. Graphically I loved it. Musically, loved it. Conceptually, I think it's a very solid idea. I do think I'd like the overall experience more if I understood it better. Have a great jam, and thanks for sharing your Godot game with me! :)

@kostbllb @mowztouch @alexfalkenberg Thank you all for your feedback! I've updated the game page with some more information that might be helpful for everyone in understanding the game a bit more. We might also add a side help file along with the game in the future.

We were short of time-so we couldn't make the game instructions and the sounds effects for the jam, but if we were to do a post-jam version of this game, then we'll definitely add those into the game!

We're all that little box that gets hit with the god-space laser sometimes

Out of everything I've played so far this is one of my favorites! Really satisfying gameplay, if a bit hard to grasp at first (the perspective isn't clear right away, since it's orthographic)

Great additions to your game page--I'm gonna give it another go! :)

Did you really mean to opt in for humor? Whatever, the graphics are pretty neat and the game is ok. It just gets a bit boring when you notice you can easily beat the game by only using thunder wall. By the way, you have to hold the left mouse button before clicking on the right one in order to use your special, which is contrary to what's said in the controls

veilastrum 2018-08-14 18:35

@trocentraisin Really? Strange, I'm re-testing it right now, and I don't need to hold the left mouse button to use the specials. Not sure what's going on with that on your side.

It's funny because I actually thought thunder wall was underpowered at one point, haha. I guess I'll have to take that back then and recheck on that. EDIT: Scratch that, it is overpowered. Guess some tweaking has to be done for post-jam then, haha. Thanks for your input.

I still don't have any problems with only clicking the right mouse button for specials. Care to tell me the platform you're using? It's definitely not a problem with coding or keymapping here, but I'd like to figure out what problems you had with the right mouse clicking for specials. It would literally be impossible to be the third special if the left-mouse button had to be held.

I really struggled with this game. I wasn't sure where to click, or if my attacks were even doing anything, I'm not sure if there was something I'm missing about this game, but I couldn't get into it. The graphics and music were ok, though they could both use a little polish.

trocentraisin 2018-08-14 19:22

@veilastrum welp, my bad, you can use your special without holding the left mouse button, you just need to be very carefull with your energy

Hey I think people say earlier that they were confused mostly because the strange hit box for the boxes on the screen. I dont know the reason behind it, but I think if you can fix this in a post-jam version it would be no problem. I actually got used to clicking on the circle on the bottom of the boxes and it wasnt that difficult to hit. In fact, its perhaps a bit easier to aim, because then I dont need to care about what kind of box it is. If you are still going for this hit box, maybe the circle should get more attention with the color, design and all, and the boxes should be of a more washed down color to tell players that don't shoot here, shoot down here (the circles). Anyhow, you game actually look ver very good and I dont know why you havent gotten 20 rates. Its probably just bad luck T_T. I have to say the game was a bit difficult, really try to tone down the difficulty of the game, my best record was only to survive ~100 sec. Other than the balancing and the problem of the hit boxes not getting enough attention from players, I really enjoyed your game. The design of the god looks very powerful and scary. Good job!

I think you need some more enemy variety and maybe different energy bar for each weapon to encourage you to switch, or maybe enemy elemental weaknesses to make you switch more. But it definitely felt good and fun using some of those spells and shooting lightning. The screen flashing and particles really sold it. Sound effects would have sealed the deal!

Nice work.

Awesome spells and interactivity. Everything felt really well designed! Some more enemies would have been cool though.

Interesting take on the theme, the music was good the screen was just a bit busy and gameplay felt too complex

imphenzia 2018-09-01 23:39

Hi - I have no idea what was going on there =) It looks quite interesting, especially since I'm into space stuff, but I was clicking the mouse and hammering the keyboard like there was no tomorrow yet nothing seems to happen? I wasn't even sure where to look on the screen! Apologies for the lack of constructive criticism here, I will try again to see if I can get cracking =)
