LD38 — A Small World

Wake Up ! by GoZz 2018-08-27T01:17:59Z

Hey, I bumped into your game through a video on RandomizeUser youtube channel and fell in love with the graphics of the game. I think your game place a bit lower that it should, but it's all happened haha. I wanted to check out you guys' game this LD but you don't have any. So see you in the next LD then xD

Days to Come by Cassio Eduardo 2018-08-16T18:20:39Z

I think you guys were very ambitious with this project, but it does show potential. Keep it up!

Snakescape by krasse 2018-08-15T20:08:16Z

I like the music, it looks like just a snake game but there is an interesting element of puzzle to it. I enjoyed the game, good job putting it together!

Blow the Hen Down by NickZangus 2018-08-19T19:08:50Z

Hey saw your game on the channel of RandomizeUser, it's a very fun(ny) game haha, I love putting chickens in the cannon because it's so funny, even though that's possibly the slowest way to get rid of them. And the chicken spawns like crazy LMAO. Did anyone clean all of the chickens? LOL. Great entry though, I had some really good laughs. 5 for humor. GJ!

Puzzled Parcels by Hammers 2018-08-15T00:30:11Z

The car is too hard to control, which is mainly because the camera is static while the control is map on the car, so player needs to constantly readjusting to the new angle of the control. It could be fun for a rage game, but I see that you are combining this with a puzzle, and the rage-like racing element dominates the puzzle. First, it makes your game less fit with the theme, or like its an after thought. Second, when you work on the puzzle, you actually lose time, which is said to be the ultimate goal. This might make the puzzle even less important. Maybe if you can load cargos on the truck without overlapping, you get extra time, that should be more than the time lost on arranging the items. Sorry I got carried away with the technical stuffs. Anyway, fun game, I got a bit frustrated but I guess thats the point right haha Nice graphics btw!

BIO-EX-DEUS by Joror 2018-08-26T22:34:59Z

Great idea with neat implementation. This to me is like a sandbox sim, and the system is very complex despite its simple graphics. I think the visual feedback with the arrows is great, it helps players understand what is going on especially the killing. Some visual feedback for dragons attacking animals on nearby tiles would be a nice touch, I see the red arrow but nothing seems to happen. Also I think the Era counter should be more noticeable to players, the fact that changing the terrain takes an era was not obvious to me so I finished the terrain manipulation before putting animals to that in the 15th Era. This is apparently not the best strategy and I did this during my first 4 runs. The scoring at the end is a very nice feature, it basically tells me that I could do better if I haven't, but I think there is a lack of feedback to what could have been done better. It makes total sense in a sim game that players set their own goals but the moment you have the evaluation there, there is a goal and players should know how to achieve that.

Some suggestions: - Visual feedback on when something is killed, so it's more visible to players. - De-select the creation when I select another creature on the map, because if not, the info about that creature is override by the info of the creature selected in the creation box. Of course I could deselect that myself, but I think its more convenient if you do that for players, plus its not always obvious that I need to deselect in the creations box to see info of creatures on the map (at first I thought it was a bug)

Last but not least, my highest score xD.

Atlas by SaxOps1 2018-08-17T09:35:23Z

Hmm for some reasons both of the link dont work for me. One says Invite Invalid and the other asks me to choose a discord server from an empty list.

Atlas by SaxOps1 2018-08-17T14:12:13Z

Hey not so tied up with the theme but definitely was a fun experience, even when I was the first dead person and can only sit and watch hahaha. But honestly, if you can mute everyone while they were supposed to sleep, that would really help the infected guy to hide his identity without worrying about the typing sound. Dead people shouldnt be able to see who is infected, but should still be able to join chat, maybe would be best if you can change the person's name color. Again, all the minor details, I think the game has great potential. GJ!

Deadlock by Geckoo1337 2018-08-16T23:48:01Z

A very very solid entry. I think this game should have had more people play rating it. I like the mechanic, and the nice thing is that in later stages you don't have to go with the solution that the developer intended to but create your own solution, which is really really nice.

Running Out in Space! by Ekilibr 2018-08-15T02:38:24Z

I finished all the levels. It was very enjoyable. Simple idea with clean implementation, I appreciate that. There was one level that was kinda tight timing, so that is a bit difficult. The rest of the levels are very clever. Great work!

HUBOTS by khofez 2018-08-17T14:35:09Z

Whow! So first of all, the controls are very intuitive but for some reason it takes me really long to get used to - Idk if you get that feedback from other people. However, once I get it, this becomes very satisfying. I dont understand why you want to control one bot, controlling 3 bots at a time isnt that the best strategy? Otherwise you will need some way to encourage players to control bots separately. Now I just wait a bit for the arena to become a bit filled, then I work with 3 bots at the same time and that cleans the boxes very fast. The visual and audio feedback on this game is awesome, I always know what Im doing. The left click on the ground to select all bots near by is a bit unnecesarry I think, I would just remove that because you have the ctrl+left click, which is symmetrical to ctrl + right click already. The left click on the ground also break the contact I have with any bot, so if I mistakenly left click on the ground, I will need to select the bot(s) again, which I find kinda like a punishment rather than a cool feature. There is a small problem with collision that sometimes the bots go very slowly as if they are getting on the way of the others. So thats all the comments I have, hope you find it useful. Really like the game and I wish the post jam version has a leader board xD

Nom by codemaster 2018-08-15T17:01:27Z

A good start. I think the art can improve a lot, it still feels like a game prototype. However, the game mechanic is fun, and I understand polishing is almost impossible if you have only one day. Good job putting it all together, keep it up!

DETRITUS by OccultOne 2018-08-31T03:59:34Z

This game has a very polished look, and the physics feel right, but the controls are a bit sensitive too me. It takes a bit to get used to and man, once Im used to the control and can shoot down some of the enemies, the particle effects when killing them is so satisfying. Great job for that!

If there is anything other than what other people suggested, I think the enemies blend in background especially when moving in high speed so I would appreciate either a highlight on the enemies, or lock to one enemies so I can focus on it. Idk if you have considered the camera trick that you zoom out to cover both your ship and an enemy that player targets, it might work for your game (or not).

Again, really well done with the graphics. Im not the best player in shooters but Im really feeling the juice in this entry LOL.

Delivery Boi by JCMonkey 2018-08-16T04:31:45Z

The game although has wonderful art work and animations, isnt really my kind of game, but I appreciate the voice acting a lot! A great entry, good job!!

Flood by Megalink 2018-08-19T12:11:34Z

Whow, I really liked the game. It was a bit confusing at first that I didn't know that I can move to another tile and stand there helplessly waiting the flood to come. Maybe some arrows on the sides indicating that you can go to that direction would be helpful, also then I would know that I couldn't go up if I have reached the border of the map too. Also some teaching for the bow would be nice as well, I was trying to attack like with the stick, expecting an arrow to go out but it didnt haha. Some collision issue when picking up the loots as well (Im trying to be constructive haha, dont take that as I didnt like the game). I only survived for 2:22 and starved to dead, but I really enjoyed the game. Definitely going with the theme, interesting mechanic, quite immersive environment, GJ!

Edit: It would be such a nice touch if after the flood goes off, you have some food as the animals in that tile die out xD.

worm.exe by Linus 2018-08-16T03:39:28Z

Simple idea that works together with the theme within the game: cleaning windows desktop (scoring humor). I think a cool intro that makes fun of how people have so much trash in the desktop would add a lot more entertainment to the game and make everyone relate to it. Other thing I thought could be added is a zip file that you need to unzip and inside it has more content. This add more depth to the game because zip file has smaller storage than the total storage it has, so there is more to prioritizing. I think its a very promising entry, keep it up!

Storage Corp Ltd. by PixelFormedStudios 2018-08-16T16:46:44Z

Love everything about the game, there are a lot of games going with the minigames themes but your minigames are going very well with the whole thing. Very strong on the theme, I overall enjoyed everything. I kind wished there were some hidden gems in this, like some secret files somewhere haha. Post-jam maybe?

3x3 a tale about friendship by oskarOlausson 2018-08-16T18:36:58Z

Very nice concept, I love the tool tips showing the tutorial mid-game, that is very very nice. Im all for interactive tutorials! Well done

warehouse_simulator by silvio 2018-08-16T04:13:59Z

First, good things: simple idea, clean implementation, very responsive animation - the game has a complete feel to it and scores high for graphics for me. What I don't like about this is that you have code for the box but then also have color. I understand that without the color, player would be frustrated because they can't remember the code. But then what you did was basically a box with color but you only show the color of the box if player stand next to it, otherwise it becomes grey. If that is intended, then Im not feeling it. If not, then maybe you can just visually map the color to the box, that would be wayyy better from the player perspective. Probably you will have to code more, but that's the job of the dev, player's shouldn't come close to a box to have it shown its color only because the dev want to skip the implementation. Just my opinion, I tried to be constructive, hope you find it helpful!

Growing Out by superpokeunicorn 2018-08-16T04:35:27Z

Cute platformer. It really gives me the vibe of Mario for some reasons. You also starts out small then grow up and shoot, except that here you keep growing haha. I really like your game, the last stage is sooo badass. Good job!

Polygon Bash by josehzz 2018-08-14T05:40:52Z

Love the complexity: you need to kill the geometries, but firing pushes you back and you dont want to touch the things on the wall, and the the wall shrinks as the bullets hit it. The complexity is telling me that this will be very tough, yet I keep playing and playing LMAO. Great job! The music went great with it too! If I had any recommendation, maybe its that the shrinking of the wall is not very visible. Maybe you can use color indication or some kind of reference in the background.. Idk, but its a very promising game for mobile. Keep it up!

Potion Seller by CameronPenner 2018-08-17T12:58:05Z

Love the character design and the voice acting. The crafting system is amazing and I like that the camera is shifting slightly as I look to the left and the right, really brings the character Im controlling to life. Great entry, this deserves more ratings really.

Out of Inventory Space! by aaranos 2018-08-14T18:57:07Z

I don't have any friends, so I played the game alone. I think it's kinda hard to remember what I have and what other players have as the inventory is only displayed during one's turn. I think it would be better if you have indication of the inventory in four corners, you do have space for that. Just my opinion. Otherwise, a nice game with cool art style and fits the theme

Squirrel's Revenge by AXaViaN 2018-08-20T13:39:10Z

Hey Im a programmer too and the struggle is real.. There are so many games I saw made by programmers with the character being a primitive white box hahaha, so good job with the graphics here xD. Agree with everyone that you need some indication in the game, not only whether the wood cutters are working or not, but also where they are on the map, like a small arrow on the side of the screen pointing to which directions the cutters are (or faster, a minimap). Otherwise, elements of the game are all there, you also implemented a high score too (which I couldnt manage to in my game). Good job!!

Super Responsible Parent by dietzribi 2018-08-14T21:30:43Z

Hilarious game, kinda similar to my game in spirit, rage-triggering platformer hehe. Very solid entry, good job!

Wingman by minibobbo 2018-08-16T19:15:46Z

I totally enjoyed the game even though Im not good at shooter games, thanks for making some easy levels so I could see what the game is doing. I had some minor problem with adjusting the scale of the minimap, such that I cant tell from which angle will the enemies come from just by looking at the minimap. I dont really have a solution for that, but its just a minor problem that I personally had. Great work, the game looks very finished. Great work!

Brightly-Wrapped Boxes by incobalt 2018-08-15T17:24:15Z

EXCELLENT camera work. I love camera work in game and tried to implement a cool camera in my game as well, thus I really appreciate the work you put in camera control in this game. Besides that, everything is very smooth, lovely music as well! The number displaying on top of the box don't really fit in the game.. if you have more boxes waiting in that position, maybe you can display a small unclickable box on top of a box already on the chair, and they queue up, so that would be less distracting than the text? The text really takes away the illusion of a ice comfort room where I can concentrate on my gift packing skill. I had lots of fun playing this game. For my personal taste, I try to put things as neatly as possible, and that takes time away from me. I dont know if your game could have some bonus for placing boxes neatly- meaning that the space between a newly placed box and adjacent boxes are small. If that could be implemented, thatd be awesome!! Anyhow, great great work!

Volant Islands by wujood 2018-08-17T11:09:39Z

A nice puzzle game with very relaxing music. I really enjoyed the game, and the puzzle in later stages is pretty difficult.

16.png

I think this animation could be flipped to the other side tho - just a very minor thing, because the game was very good and complete, I don't really have anything to comment  Good job putting together this very solid entry!

proxibomb by blackoptics8 2018-08-14T06:06:50Z

Proximity brings an unexpectable element to the game, and also you have a lot of nodes to start with so there is some room for error. I like the idea, proximity has been used a lot in game, but usually behind the scene. You have brought it to light! Great job with a cool looking game :D

Closing in on Pascal by gamepopper 2018-08-17T00:17:08Z

The control and everything feels great, but because the character moves very fast and can just wall jump for as high as the wall goes, the effect of the enclosing wall becomes not very impactful on the game play. Or its because I haven't played long enough. Idk, I think the jump mechanic is very nice and it feels good, however the connection to the theme is a little bit loose, in a way that yes the space is closing, but how does that affect the player. Anyhow, a great great entry, well done!

Space Scrap! by Alex Lutay 2018-08-15T15:37:30Z

The game scores really high for graphics for me, very polished looking, but I was very confused when playing the game. Im sure it is a good game as you have finished the game play and had time to polish it, but that was not wholy conveyed to the player. Maybe its too complex? I think you could separate elements to different stages for players to learn, like first is to survive, and then you add the meteors. Idk, it looks like a promising game, great job putting everything together! I will score the game based on its potential

LANDESCAPE by designernap 2018-08-17T20:32:35Z

Hey I think this is a very promising entry. I like the battle, at first I keep asking why can't I turn to the side to shoot because I get a lot of bullets coming from the side but its very tricky to get behind the low enemies to shoot them, there is a chance that another enemy will come from behind and crash me. However when I type this comment then I get that if you would let players control the mouse, the arrow key will probably need to be mapped to that, then you wouldnt be going straight to the tower anymore. So what about a little dangerous icon flashing when there is an enemy coming from behind, then there wouldnt be any risk that I die of enemies crashing from behind. Just a little comment, otherwise I think the game has a pretty solid foundation, a bit more polishing would do wonder. Great work!

Get rekt (the game) by dragongino 2018-08-15T02:16:36Z

A nice shooter, the control feels good. Who doesn't like killing zombies? :D Good job!

Space Box Rescue by udo 2018-08-15T18:31:03Z

Whow, Im in love with this game, minimalistic yet polished looking. I love the end game screen staying on the screen between scene transition, makes the whole thing look very continuous. I like everything about the game, nothing to add to it. Great job!

Ode to Resilience by Xarras 2018-08-14T19:32:15Z

Text platforming!! YESSSS! I have a prototype in my unity document folder in which I tried to implement somewhat similar to this:

[5.png](///raw/31a/91/z/1965e.png)

but it is very difficult with the font and all. I think you found a great font for this kind of game, really good job!!!! I thought the color of the text could give some indication for whether it is dangerous or a boost too.. still, it is a design choice, just my opinion. Also, add some check points if you can, otherwise itd become a bit of a rage game

Gravitwister by Drury 2018-08-15T15:17:31Z

Whoa I really like the black hole shader, not an easy thing to implement and tweak, I appreciate it man. Nice music, graphics is great too. I thought the black hole should grow up slowly after it has reached the score instead of an abrupt change in size. Some button feedback in the main menu would be nice too. A bit weak on the theme.. Much appreciate the lightning from the black hole in sync with the music, it is everything in this game man, 5 for music! Overall, a very fun and well-made game. Got to know your solution for that in the stream, thank you very much! It will be in my next game!!! I have always been in love with effects in sync with music, and in my game I had to do that manually LMAO

Corrupted Space by egordorichev 2018-08-16T03:22:03Z

A platformer with awesome music and polished graphics. It connects to the theme quite loosely. Otherwise it feels like a real game, great job! I couldnt finish all the levels because Im very bad with these platform games that have rich movement mechanic, it really is a test of skills. Great job on putting it all together!

Where Stars Belong by NORRIMO 2018-08-18T19:40:34Z

I really like the overall experience, the game scores very high for graphics and mood for me. Shooting stars is very satisfying, and after that I didnt know what else to do. I wish there was another camera down at the temple so I can see the beautiful stars falling down like in your introduction. The connection to the theme is a bit loose, otherwise I think the game is very polished and is definitely worth a post-jam version!

The Return by seizethedia 2018-08-16T13:48:05Z

Sometimes I walk on a tile and that tile randomly becomes a deadly tile, and so I die T_T. I think the random generation of deadly tiles should take into consideration of where the player is, and whether there is a way for him to go to the end - if not, end the game right away. Overall, great work putting in this, the map generation really increase the value of the game. Well done!

Follow Line by mukult 2018-08-14T14:06:27Z

I would be honest with you, the game is very addictive. I dont know if you have proc gen for the level, I see some module repeats but the track seems a bit different everytime. It was really fun, even when there are some strange cause of death such that touching the line when making spikes or falling from too high. Im sure it would be more polished if you have had more time. Good job

Rhythm Doodle by Ascension 2018-08-22T16:10:28Z

Nice entry. Once I get the hang of it, its not very difficult and I can keep very long combo. I think the pattern could be mixed up a bit, also you can change the tempo of the song. Found the same bug as @lekkel124 pointed out. Otherwise, a very promising entry, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Cosmic Collapse by ryusui 2018-08-14T03:19:17Z

Doesnt take long to get the hang of the game. I can only get 18 points. Very nice graphics and I like the ending animation! Good job!

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-09-04T20:04:58Z

Haha super funny man. I was expecting a siren sound when the story got to that part even LOL. I tried a lot of combinations of things but I didn't get a single combination to work, so it felt pretty stuck. I wish there was some more interaction even if it wasnt the right thing, for example, putting the bear in the car, but then also suggest in the dialogue that its not something I want to do. I certainly have not tried all combination, but not getting any reaction to any of my previously tried combination reduces my engagement for the game. If you don't mind, you can give me some clues so I can play the game again and advance further. Why? Because I freaking love this!

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-09-04T21:45:52Z

Yeah your clues definitely helped. The combinations are sometimes not the most obvious but the hints are very subtle. I would never thought of using the shoe that way if I didnt stumble upon that, I didnt pay enough attention to the hints LOL. Really neat game, and the humor feels very natural, good job!! It really inspires me to make a point and click game at one point, thank you!

Vampyre by ildfuglen 2018-08-16T18:33:17Z

Interesting "running out of space" mechanism that actually makes sense. It is very simple but I havent seen any other entry that does this. The movement feels good and responsible, good job!

There is Never Enough Space!!! by Jamie Rollo 2018-08-16T04:08:16Z

Interesting game, having a lot of minigames each has their own twist on the theme. I have seen another entry that goes this direction and both have all the minigames tied closely to the theme "space", not exactly "running out of space". BUT it doesnt matter, I think you did very well with the simple ideas and polishing them and putting them together with a cohesive art style throughout the course of the game. It was an awesome game, and the good thing is that you can always add more minigame to it and that would not create any problem for the game. Potential for post-jam, keep it up!

Co-op Puzzle by wowa 2018-08-16T21:26:03Z

Haha that trailer looks pretty fun. I dont have an android to play so I cant play rate it, but I will drop a little mental support here xD Wish you guys luck with the game! xD

LEO by Bracula 2018-08-15T14:57:49Z

LOVEEE the control of the camera, zoom in and out, rotate the planet, everything is very smooth. The graphics is just awesome and polished looking. Cleaning one piece of debris at a time is too difficult and makes player feel impact-less in the late game. If you can add items or ability to clean more at once, that would be awesome - you do get money from collecting them, so.. Anyhow, I did enjoy the game while there were not many things to clean hehe :D. Good job!

Shelf Space by joemag 2018-08-16T03:30:32Z

I have seen a lot of games in this LD doing in the same direction, I would be honest with you all games of this kind lack a goal or a skill that the player could get better at. Putting stuffs into something just requires time, you don't really get better at it. What I can suggest is that you can snap the book on the side, and books are of different sizes, so if you say have a book of 20cm, then next 15cm, then 20cm again, then you for sure loose the space in between two 20-cm books. Something like that, I hope you get my idea. But there's a catch: if there is nothing to be better at, then the experience of doing the thing needs to be satisfying, and here picking up books, putting them on the shelf isnt really satisfying to what I see. If you go for the latter, made sure it is very very polished. I think I have seen one game in this LD that does stacking and does a good job at making it satisfying, if I can find it again, I'll let you know.

The Espacito by Wendel Scardua 2018-08-16T22:46:14Z

Hi there, the sound is very loud, other than that I really enjoyed the game! One thing I wasnt sure if its intended or not was when I kill the yellow ship, there are some crystal or something but they are not going straight to me and I need to collect them instead, meanwhile I think if I kill other enemies then those rewards just fly to me. Other than that, the control feels nice and responsible, the shoot is very juicy, you might add a camera shake the the explosion as well to make it even more juicy. A very solid entry, good luck!

The Espacito by Wendel Scardua 2018-08-16T23:06:29Z

@wendel-scardua yes, but the yellow ship is a bit different: it shoots straight at me so I need to be constantly moving, and when it dies, I still had the momentum and thus missed the loot drops. That happens almost to all of the yellow ships especially if I were near them when they die. It might be just that my reflexes werent that good :joy:

Heirs Kingdom by Valter 2018-08-29T14:28:40Z

Haha, I managed to beat your score, 54 years, but freaked out when I see people here managed to last hundreds of years LMAO. I had some fun time, thanks for the game!

The Void by mortus 2018-08-14T20:23:53Z

A fast paced puzzle game with a cool take on "running out of space" as the timing out of planets. Increasing the pace really adds more complexity to the puzzle game, which is not really my taste. But I sure appreciated the degeneration of space, and its quite funny you leave the texture underneath it being "transparent" haha. That scores a bit of humor for me. I love the music, but the sound effect was too loud and high pitched for me. I get anxious every time I select a ship because of that sound effect T_T - just a little feedback. Great work! Ah btw, the graphics is very very pretty!!

Where's my kingdom?! by Nufflee 2018-08-16T20:01:09Z

Solid on the theme, would be great if the tile on the actual map also changes color. I think the concept is potential, although you havent been able to elaborate it to the best of its potential. Keep up the good work!

Castle Custodian by ectucker1 2018-08-16T13:09:37Z

Nice work! nice playability, I enjoyed the different enemies and the music had me tense all the time! really enjoyed it, thanks!

As the world burns by super8bitrafa 2018-08-16T04:24:42Z

fast paced shooting game with a very juicy shooting animation. I like that when you shoot at once point, the bullet goes out in a slightly different angle to each other, making it very realistic and that actually does a favor for players not to move their cursor back and forth to get a bullet distribution on a direction. That said, live the shooting animation, the art work. A solid entry, good job!

Djabo by thomas-olsson 2018-08-14T04:49:36Z

OMG. This game really sets the bar for my LD game testing process. I dont think I have played anything so far that tops this. Love the art, the level design (the map layout is good, not confusing at all), the animation, effects. It fits the game as well and not in an obvious way. GOOD JOB!!

No More Spacers by xero560 2018-08-15T18:02:58Z

Hmmmmm I don't know how to feel about this.. The boost really gives me the power to go anywhere, making me feel pretty powerful, but its sometimes too powerful I just fall down the platform. The fighting seems really cool, but the screen is too busy and it distract the fight a lot. You have everything on the screen screaming for attention, that makes me feel a bit lost. Also I notice that the floor is very glossy, maybe you can tone down the glossiness of the material so that it doesnt reflect much light from the light source. The combat mechanic seems very cool and ambitious and skill-based. This would be great in a bigger game that people genuinely care about, I think your work is very potential for a post-jam development. Keep it up!

Eventful Horizon by bitdecay 2018-08-19T07:43:03Z

SUPER CREATIVE! The game gets 5 for many categories for me, and knowing that you have put a lot of work in the audio made me pay attention to how the audio reacted to player's action. The game mechanic is super duper cool, I really think this game will do well as a complete release. One suggestion from me is to have an indication of the direction of gravity, because when the camera rotate for a while, I lost sense of direction (which is no big deal) and the cube is behaving not as I expected. I would expect the gravity to also rotate with the camera, but if it doesn't, an indication of that would be much appreciated to players I think. Overall a very very solid entry. GJ!

PS Another suggestion: keep the trajectory of the last shoot so players have an anchor to adjust from that if the cube failed to land

EVOLUTION by Noa Calice 2018-08-15T00:06:19Z

The art work is just amazing, and the game has a very strong mood element to it. Its not easy to create mood in a game jam project, very good job! Also, thanks for all your tutorial videos, keep it up!!

Beat These Games! by gamesplusjames 2018-08-15T13:17:14Z

The game is fun to play, except that the amount of games added in for each failure is too many, I think you should go slow, like 1 and then more if you have many failures in a row. The mini games are definitely tied to the game, but the main game doesnt seem to have any shrinking of any kind, you just have more and more games to play, so that's a bit short in the theme category for me. I like the music and the humor in the game though, good job!

Edit: saw it in a stream, and now I know why it feels farmilar: it reminds me of dumb ways to die haha

Ultimate Boss Battle of Doom by Gurbx 2018-08-16T04:55:48Z

The game has your own twist in the ordinary tile falling games, and the jump animation is sooooo juicy though. The control feels responsive so I didnt die as many as in other free movement tile falling games. I dig the art a lot, such a cohesive and cool art style. A very solid entry, good job!

Explodasharks by Micahtron 2018-08-14T02:54:10Z

Haha I figured out the way to beat the game 100% :D Just stand here, wait for the shark to shoot, then go to the other side of the platform and wait for it to come, then K-k-kaboom, then repeat.

1.png

Anyway, I like the touch of humor there, my game also used AWD only but I wouldnt have thought of that funny joke. I enjoyed the game thoroughly. The water level was not very noticable because I focused too much on the game. Maybe you can change the water color as it goes up, then it would be more noticeable. Great job with only one day!

SQUASH KILL by Smithy 2018-08-16T03:34:46Z

Right of the batch I have to say this: The boxes cant have a circle shadow! So that is something can be improved. Enemy movement is a bit slow compared to the drop speed of boxes, Idk if thats intentional or arbitrary, if it was arbitrary, I suggesting making them more in sync in speed, creating an overall pace for the game. Otherwise I like the programmer art, the death particle looks very juicy too, good job putting it all together in a short amount of time!

Too Rich Ed by Fedor 2018-08-17T15:48:25Z

Agree with @anthony-dunlap, but its not too bad for a short play. I recommend locking the rocket's rotation so that it doesn't rotate like crazy in the beginning by the cursor, and you can activate it only when you click the cursor on the top half of the screen, that would help the navigation a lot too. Otherwise GJ!!

Nooooo! by YANIV 2018-08-16T13:34:34Z

Omg its such a fun game, a really cool take on the theme. This reminds me of the game where you make cuts on an arena to separate balls, and this is sort of the inverse version of that. Im totally in love. Great work, I love the music too!!

Protocol: 47 - Superstar Appeal by Poffle 2018-08-16T13:59:24Z

OMG I am in LOVE! This is hilarious, and it is so polished, I really cant imagine putting that much work into a game within 3 days, this is a complete game guys. My god!! I would be killing my wife tonight if I had one haha

LegDos by ChaosTheLegend 2018-08-30T13:53:06Z

I really enjoyed the game, it feels like a cookie clicker but there is actually a depth to it that I really like, plus you dont really have to click as much. Sometimes the random events popping up are quite annoying, especially when I was about to get enough money for an upgrade and then there goes the electricity.. It feels a little bit unfair, but I guess it's a part of the game  . The humor was a nice touch, getting younity was one of the first thing I do after getting an upgrade LOL. Great entry, well done!

The Floor is Lava by UnidayStudio 2018-08-15T14:53:17Z

I wish there was a performance option in the game, my computer handles the graphics very poorly, and I also think its a bit overshooting for this game to have that heavy graphics, though it does make the game look quite polished. I like the music, the control mapped to the camera is very intuitive as well. If you had scroll to zoom with the mouse that would be even better for top view. Overall I enjoyed the game. A simple idea with a clean implementation. Many people make game with water raising up, but lava is way better to tell player not to touch it. Good job!

42_GetOut by elZach 2018-08-14T17:12:59Z

The visual effect of the background enhances the experience a lot to me. It adds a bit of mood (along with the music) to the game as well. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great work!

Super Dungeon Freakout by karmafarm 2018-08-16T15:18:47Z

Hey its a nice puzzle game, and the timing makes it sooooo difficult to overcome. One comment I would have is to make it possible to shoot when I stand next to the wall, because right now if I am facing a wall and I want to shoot to that direction, it is impossible. A suggestion for further improvement on the post-jam version is to have the preview trajectory of the thing when you shoot it out, so its easier for players to pre-calculate where and when they need to shoot. Very promising entry!

WetFeet by kruemelkeksfan 2018-08-14T03:23:58Z

Man I love the idea of controlling the top-view camera, it really makes whatever Im doing god-like and everything is awesome. Too bad the game wasnt fully done. Building houses and construction probably takes some resources but that wasnt shown. I think you guys went too big with this, there is a lot more to do, but it seems pretty promising!

Pervertica - CCG by mitus 2018-08-15T15:50:43Z

I like the music, the art and I love the intro. The look of the buttons doesnt really fit the art of the game, also the space bar, they feel out of place. I like the red arrows, they add more challenge to the game. The theme presence is a bit of an after thought and literal here, like you run out of space then you automatically die - Im not really a fan of that, it makes the game very very unforgiving to error. I kept replaying to master the fight but I thought it was too difficult, I always end up having a bit of HP left for the boss. It does not feel right that I have full HP and the boss has 4% HP and I lost the battle. That said, I enjoyed the game as much I as played it, and like the comment before me, having the button in sync with the music would be awesome, but I understand its not an easy thing to do within the scope of a game jam. Great job!!

CapyBarbra: A New Brow by Ratherjolly 2018-08-30T00:50:48Z

Haha awesome voice acting, spot on humor! The mechanic is pretty odd but it seems potential, I think you can either speed up the game or add more complexity to it by letting players control multiple cats. Then it would be quite chaotic but more satisfying xD. I had some good laughs with the game, thanks!

Gradschool the RPG by Kale the Quick 2018-08-15T14:36:59Z

You have a lot of things going on in the game, Emily is from magic school but she programs hehe  That will score humor for me haha. Anyway, the programming of the golem - I think you did a good job, but the input for user is a bit user-unfriendly, I think you are aware of that too. Idk if there is a perfect solution for programming in games, but text is probably the last thing to do, you want to hide away the code by abstracting it with colors and shapes, etc. Regarding the rest of the game, I like the design, although I find the terrain texture could be better. The stone texture needs more tiling so it looks smaller, now it looks like a giant floor tile. The changes in texture is a bit abrupt, like from stone to grass to dirts. Maybe you can make that more smooth. Otherwise I think it is a very nice game and Im all rooting for programming in game!!

Gradschool the RPG by Kale the Quick 2018-08-15T16:29:18Z

@ryanjavanshir haha I don't think Im capable of that. But yeah regarding the programming in game, I thought of that too and I have an idea a long ago that I never had a chance to implement, but you can tell me how it sounds. So instead of letting the players build the whole program from scratch, I will make the algorithm with lots of parameters, and players' job is to tune those parameters to make it work. Can think of that as a simple reinforcement learning algorithm for example..

S.P.A.C.E. Module Collectors by AdroitConceptions 2018-08-14T02:23:39Z

The back story is kinda related to the theme, otherwise its a shooter game. The mouse sensitivity was too high for me, or maybe thats how it should be? I would much appreciate a slider to tone mouse sensitivity, it took me a while to start getting use to the mouse speed in the game. Love the vignette effect for healing and indicating HP. I like the use of camera since I have always wanted to do it but never actually did. There is a lot of things could be done with the camera, for example to prevent clipping, rotate when there is obstacle behind it, etc. The GDC talk "50 Game Camera Mistakes" is a great pointer. Another small thing is that the color of enemies could be of different color than mine. On the bright side, the proc gen works great in a way that it generates quite reasonable layout of enemy, probably you had some constraints to it. Great control of character, nice map layout with proc gen, thoughtful HP effects. Good job!

S.P.A.C.E. Module Collectors by AdroitConceptions 2018-08-16T00:05:15Z

@adroitconceptions yes I meant the color of enemies, yes. And here is the picture of the camera clipping the wall. Its inside the wall looking straight to the cut of a walk way between two rooms.

S.P.A.C.E. Module Collectors by AdroitConceptions 2018-08-16T02:37:28Z

@adroitconceptions you can still fix a bug that is not intended to be there according to LD rule, go for it, but quite some people will miss that fix

Dear Leader's Diet Plan by Historymaker118 2018-08-16T15:04:25Z

Haha the music and the reference to South Korea is hilarious, watch out for if Kim sees your game haha. I can only get to level 2 but it was very fun to play, and I love that the walls break as well. I think the blue thingy is out of place, maybe you can change the color or do something with it to make it feel more belonging :D Otherwise great entry!

Blocks by Anubhav Kashyap 2018-08-16T20:04:41Z

Hey a cool fun game actually, the jumps feel a bit too powerful, and I think the shadows on the wall is distracting, maybe because the light source was too high on the map so the shadow is a bit too low. I hope you get what I mean. Those are the only comments I have, its a fun game, I didnt get bored of it at all. Having a high score would make it even more addictive!

Blocks by Anubhav Kashyap 2018-08-17T05:14:57Z

@anubhav-kashyap My first game jam so Im very hyped, just going around and trying to leave some useful feedback ^^

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-17T00:11:18Z

Hahahahahahahahaha this is a clicker game, a cookie clicker!! Scores humor for me already LMAO. I think if you were going with a cookie clicker, make it right, make the clicking feels good, particle effect, button feedback, floating text, the faster you click the more you generate, etc. This can really be a fun game, I can see the potential. Why? A cookie clicker is already addictive, now you have a cute bunny, that doubles the addictiveness! haha. Great entry really, just maybe not everyone's taste :smirk: great work!

Scape Espace by Belonzik 2018-08-14T17:19:47Z

Love the art work, the animation and the pace of the game. Teal and white and black, just three colors but work wonderfully. The game play is a bit simple for my taste but I enjoyed it regardless. Good job!

Dirty Duty by grahhhhhhhhh 2018-08-16T23:30:35Z

HAhahaha very funny. I beat the game in first try, there was one part she said she will check out the podcast I thought she would go to the cassette but she didnt haha. Overall, a very fun(ny) game. I get your references to ludum dare and had some good laugh, I know its not everyone's taste but its my kind of humor, I also made some LD reference in my game too haha. The theme presence is pretty strong tho, you literally run out of place to poop LMAO. So yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed your game, good job!

Dirty Duty by grahhhhhhhhh 2018-08-17T05:48:53Z

Okay so I saw your post on the feed, and come back for what you asked for haha. Most of the time people are aware of the flaws in their game, just that they havent had time to fix I think. Anyhow, so animation was rough, the game was very predictable and thus was not challenging. She has already watered the plan on monday, then on tuesday I can poop there. She does yoga on tuesday already so on wednesday I can poop under the rug. I think it was a simple game but lack the difficulty to the puzzle. Also why did she go upstairs when there are still things to interact with downstairs, such as the blue cabinet in the living room and the cassette player. Speaking of the blue cabinet, it was not obvious to player that this is not the fridge and the first room is the kitchen. When she said she would cook, I was not 100% sure which one is the fridge. Things start to get interesting in week 2 when she takes out the trash, but that was when the game ends too. So overall it is a good entry but the puzzle element was not as strong as it could be. I hope you dont get triggered and come rate my game with all 1 haha

Dirty Duty by grahhhhhhhhh 2018-08-17T12:42:59Z

@grahhhhhhhhh I feel you. Its my first LD and I sacrified everything for the jam, even eating, and yet by the deadline of the compo, I was still designing levels and eventually missed that. I agree that game jams are really best for games with a simple original mechanic and a lot of polishing, but then if you cant manage to polish your game enough, it'd do very poorly, so thats the risk with "pure mechanic" games as well. I think for me next time I would opt out completely for some categories and focuses only on things that I want to do. Thats a bit less stressful T_T.

Dr.Zallynzky by pell707 2018-08-29T14:05:59Z

I like the idea that the character becomes larger as he moves, which at first seems to be a bad thing but at some point turned out useful. The music and sound effects fit the graphics pretty well, though I think a more sci-fi music would work better with the whole science theme. Making player go all the way back to the first level when making a mistake is too punishing and takes away the chance for him/her to learn from that mistake. When I get back to level 2, I already forgot how I can correct my mistake. The rats are not of consistent size, Idk if there is a reason for that, but you should keep the rats at about the same size, and create another kind of enemy if you really want something gigantic. Overall, a pretty original idea that I havent seen in other entries I played, good job!

The Red pixel by RainbowKappaGames 2018-08-16T20:31:28Z

Love the minimalism of the game design, very very pleasing to play. I love the check points too, definitely helps for a game jam entry, I should have had some check points in my game as well. I really like the game, there is nothing to complain, I even want to ask what is the solution for your check points haha. But then I found this thing, not exactly a bug bug but it kinda looks like: I get restored to a check point with an initial speed. This suggests that you used a trigger box that save player status and restore that, probably using scriptable object? (in case youre using unity, idk). Well Im just guessing now LOL

8.gif

Anyhow, I do have a comment about the color of the door, the gradient color doesnt look like they belong there, maybe something pure color would work better? Just my 2 cents.

The Red pixel by RainbowKappaGames 2018-08-27T12:44:14Z

Hey here come bugs list: - After loosing a heart, I can freely travel between spikes as long as I dont touch them from above, seems to be an edge collider issue - Sometimes I cant double jump (recreate: beginning of level 3) - The boss HP in the last level is decreased under 0, and it flickers every second or so. Quick fix would be clamping the HP to >= 0 - Graphics: sometimes spikes have a tiny white border, quite distracting

That's all I have for the bugs.

Jumpless by ChicoMCastro 2018-08-16T23:10:38Z

Hey I like your art style a lot, you have done quite a lot in a short amount of time :O great job! Regarding the platforming element, I find the jump a bit too short, I get stuck at level 3 (I think) where I have 2 spaces and I cant get on the upper platform, the jump was too short. I simply cant think of any other way to pass that round. But as far as I have gone, I really enjoyed the character movement and animation. The transition between scenes was a bit abrupt, but that could be quickly fixed in the post-jam version. Great entry, keep it up!

ItsRainingVirus by Enver Arco 2018-08-14T05:59:27Z

On point with the theme, graphically looking great, to me it has a finished look to it. There was no physics glitches during the course of the game, props to that. It is a game that you can play for a long time. Good job!

Box Beatdown by guin36 2018-09-03T08:07:12Z

Great use of tutorial to teach for the controls, wonderful combat, the juicy level is 100/100. I thought some elements in the game was not really well explained, such as I lose progress when getting hit, this could be taught in the tutorial before the combat as well so there is no "oh okay" moment when it happens. My expectation is that I have a HP bar which decreases when I get hit, and the progress bar is how far I have gotten in the combat, which I think are combined in the progress bar of this game. Regardless, the juice in your game is just spot on and the humor is a nice touch. I checked out your soundcloud and found some great work there too. Keep it up!

Spaceman Kevin by Chupachu 2018-08-14T23:06:51Z

holy moly, this game is such a hidden gem, why nobody is playing it?? I honestly got chills when flying through space, it was such a lovely experience I never had before when playing games. Movement is very satisfying, going downhill is faster than uphill, jetpacking feels awesome. Music transition is spot on, very subtle and smooth. You know its something people say if you do it right, people dont even notice.. Art work is not really up to how the game feel, I think it didnt do justice to the game, but I get that its due to lack of time. The presence of the theme is not very very strong, it has space, and you can only carry one item at a time. But I think the game is so good on its own, it doesnt really need to follow strictly the theme. If there is something I could criticize is that everything screams outer space yet the movement doesnt seem floaty as I would expected. Or maybe it was already floaty compared to the regular movement. Other than that, awesome awesome team work. You guys should be proud of this game!!

Pop it! by LJay 2018-08-16T14:53:56Z

I love this kind of game, simple and addictive, especially in the survival mode, the voice acting is very charming, I could listen to that all day hahah.. Great entry!

Avarus by jeplmr 2018-08-16T23:52:06Z

This is really fun, although the control sometimes gets in the way, taking away a bit of the fun. The sound effect is satisfying as well. Overall great and unique entry, I havent seen any other games like this in this LD.

Rebound by Greyo 2018-08-16T14:06:15Z

Very lovely graphic, you do have your twist to the game too, that's great. It is as polished as a complete game, really good job, I can play this all day!

Gunning Out Of Space by ytaha 2018-08-14T12:45:06Z

Great game, I implemented somewhat similar mechanic of closing the arena. It's interesting to see different people's take on the same idea. Good job!

SWORD1 by Lawrence 2018-08-16T02:54:46Z

A very fun game, mostly because of the variety of the enemies. Great execution of the theme, it does stand out from all the games I've seen going in the same direction: fighting on an enclosing floating arena. Great work with the art and music. I notice that the player doesnt seem to gain any physical improvement as he progresses in the game though, maybe its something you can consider adding post-jam?

Sniggle: Savior of Snugs by Iamsodarncool 2018-08-15T18:39:32Z

Lovely art work, I am in love with the cool intro, which definitely adds some mood element to the game. The platforming is pretty difficult actually, I died a lot haha. I enjoyed the game a lot. Great work!

Spatium by rodel77 2018-08-16T03:16:56Z

Hey I really enjoyed the game, everything is very juicy, even a bit too juicy haha. I would suggest tuning down the camera shake when you put once piece in a bit, because its something you do very frequently so it basically is camera shaking almost constantly. The background is a bit distracting for me, I dont think it deserve that much attention that it is screaming for now, maybe tone down the saturation a bit so it looks a bit washed down, letting the main arena pops up. Otherwise like I said, a very solid entry! Good job!

Personal Space by ProdigalSon 2018-08-20T20:51:10Z

Hey Im from FireSplash stream, your game looks super polished, and I think the fact that enemies dont follow player adds a lot of complexity and make the game more challenging/interesting. The graphics is simple but effective, everything has an indication, the mechanic is clever, really dont have anything to add on top of it so the game scores really high for me. Great work guys!!

DE/VOID by randomphantom 2018-08-17T15:13:37Z

Fantastic entry, simple geometric but works perfectly, the ambient music does add up the mood for the game. GJ. I think sometimes when the circles overlap, the texts also overlap, which is fine for me but if you want it to look pretty (to match up with the polished level of the game), maybe adding a white outline for the text? Just my 2 cents.

18.png

Really enjoy the game, unique mechanic, fits the theme perfectly, lots of levels to play. I really cant beat many levels, I checked out some of the last levels and they are really really difficult, I think you did a good job with putting enough levels for everyone to try according to their skills. I dont know if you have a button to go back to main menu, I might have missed that so I always have to refresh the browser every time I want to go back. Would love to watch someone playing through all of your levels, do post an update if someone does hehe.

High Factory by Jima 2018-08-15T17:53:56Z

Great art work, I like the level design as well, seems to be more fast-paced than strategy. Im pretty bad with these resource management and crafting games but managed to make some stuffs in the game. Great work!!

Continuum by aayush 2018-08-19T19:38:47Z

Pretty fun game, my highest score is only 26. I think the squares move a bit too frequently and too fast, so I always die before really get the feel of running out of space with the black holes. Otherwise, the game has a clever mechanic, excellent minimalistic graphics and soothing music, I can really see this being an addictive mobile game post-jam. GJ!

Lighthouse by n.feofentov 2018-08-17T09:32:56Z

Hey I really like your game, very moody, very peaceful. I think the light house should be brighter from far distance or at least right in the beginning I could see it more clearly so I know where Im going for. Now its a tiny point light on and off from time to time. Idk the light house you are going for but the light house I know have a very bright light point to the ocean and should be the most noticeable landmark in miles away. I notice this small bug that the light house leaves a silhouette on the rocks, maybe something to fix in the post-jam?

15.png

Anyhow, a great entry, I really liked it.

Lighthouse by n.feofentov 2018-08-17T10:34:32Z

@n-feofentov I had that experience with my game as well, even more weird: silhouette on the UI, keep me updated when you fix it and how you fixed it. Mine was simple fixed by changing the canvas to world space, but Im sure your case is more difficult.

Bloody Hooligans by Natwomb 2018-08-15T04:33:00Z

I agree with what people have said, and I also think the AI could be added with some randomization so it looks less like bullets with a different graphic and slower speed. You could pick for example, every 5s let a zombie turn to a random angle [-45, 45] (so it still faces the player) and this change in direction happens for like 1s, then it starts heading back to the player. That could add some variation to the movement of zombies. Overall, a pretty fun idea with clean implementation

CRUSHED - Rage Inducing Platformer by Ajay.2002 2018-08-18T14:35:37Z

Hey the game scores really high for graphics, mood and music for me. I like the effect that everything goes blurry off center (in fact I even want to know how you do it if you dont mind haha), although I don't really get why I can't go backward. The game now is very very difficult, if I werent watching it on a stream, I wouldn't have passed even the first part. So here is some feedback: - First of all, you combined two genres: platformer and atmospheric exploration. These two elements are not well balanced in the game. - Player speed is a bit fast, its hard to make refined movement. - Collision problem: player hover on top of the platforms. - Moving platform should let player stick to that, because controlling both the platform and the player at the same time at the same speed seems like creating extra and unnecessary challenge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R_AdDK25kQ an useful pointer) - You die when touching anything, that along with the level design make everything very punishing (two bullets flying in almost parallel?) - Tutorial: Im all for interactive tutorial, but the rule of thumb is that you teach player something, then let them practice that in a safe environment without punishing, then you add punishment to make players refine their skills. The tutorial now failed to do this, players practice their skills in a highly punishing environment. - The narrative doesn't really fit the pace of the game. For example, the second spike makes players feel like they are trapped, the next spike going up diagonally kill players instantly, and they perhaps already feel this place wants to crush them, some more the narrative right here rather than waiting for a longer progress could be nice. - The platform after the tunnel doesnt have any indication that player would die touching that. But the problem of what kills you and what not is very difficult in black and white games, I have that problem too have have not yet found a solution. Lemme know if you can find one.

Anyhow, this is not to say that your game is not good, I really like the vibe of it and totally see what it could become. This is such a promising entry, you should really extend it man (but fix the difficult first). Great great work!

CRUSHED - Rage Inducing Platformer by Ajay.2002 2018-08-19T08:30:17Z

@ajay-2002 Hey, thats a good start, I was having crunch time near the end too. Its okay, I think you spent much time on the graphics and it worked out! Regarding the black particles on the edge of obstacles, I think that would be a noticeable indication, but would it hurt the performance? Because you have some very large spikes and having particles all around that might be overshooting just for indicating that this is dangerous. I was thinking of making the tip of the spikes a bit white, Idk.. what do you think about white tips?

CRUSHED - Rage Inducing Platformer by Ajay.2002 2018-08-24T12:05:53Z

@ajay-2002 oh yeah true sprite particles, thats a brilliant way to solve it!

Came here from your post on LD feed, you put a lot of thoughts into the use of text in your game, much much respect! This game is a very captivating memory book of Daniel with excellent graphics and music. If you can accommodate the memories with visual illustration somewhat like in this game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/exhaustlands, it would be even more immersive. This game has a great potential for expansion. Great great work guys!

Smoke: it's ok to feel by Lumpy 2018-08-15T17:04:16Z

Oh my god. You created such a big world within a short amount of time :O. I appreciate the art and world building a lot. You have a lot of content in the game, and even had some small cut scenes in it. I really think this is a very very very solid entry in this game jam, possibly one of the best I've seen. Great work!

Stash by Chris Coe 2018-08-16T23:41:46Z

Super fun game, and I like that youre not going too big so the game fully focuses on the inventory space mechanic. Great take on the theme, I like it! Good luck with the jam!

@foolmoron you got me curious, I checked Between Stations and it was amazing

Graveyard Gary by helpcomputer 2018-08-16T05:00:37Z

There are details in your game that makes it feel very complete (sound effects, visual feedback). Also the music and art work are amazing. I am not really a fan of this kind of game so for me the level was a bit busy. I would wish to have some levels before that breaking things down to each task so I could remember and practice doing that one task before combining them altogether. Maybe its just my taste. Otherwise, thats some great great work in that short amount of time!!

WWTD ( World Worst Tower Defence ) by jackw899 2018-08-15T17:50:21Z

I agree with the guy right before me. My first game ever made was a TD and it takes sooooo muchhhh effort to balance the game, I eventually ended up dropping it. I really think TD is should only be done in game jam with a lot of restrictions, like no money, very few upgrades, very few types of enemies and turrets. Yet still it is difficult to balance. And when you balance TD, you do that all the way to the end game, but game jam participants are not that patient, they will play just a bit, and if you don't do a good job in the beginning with the balancing, players get a mediocre experience.

Anyway, I really couldnt help writing all these down, sorry. Regarding your game, I think to solve the problem of just sitting there and waiting, put a button to start the wave right away, so you wont be blamed for making player wait for long. Waiting is the worst in game, and if you dont have anything for players to do, don't make them wait. Same for during the game, if I let one pass in the beginning, Ill have to wait for him all the way to the end to have him damage 01 health to start the next wave. I really recommend implementing a timer control that you can speed up and down the time, that would kill a lot of waiting time.

All in all, good job putting it all together!

MinoFall by Ashment 2018-08-14T21:15:44Z

Nice Tetris twist, I have cross feeling about the random moves order, in one hand it makes it a bit hard to fully control the final result, but in the other I appreciate the challenge of the unpredictability. Being able to rotate the bricks would be nice. Good job!

Space Goats 2 by Tim Ruswick 2018-08-14T01:46:56Z

A crazy idea turned into a quite polished game. It was not too long, not too short. I kinda forgot the control right away so some kind of indication when hitting the boxes to remind me to press the space bar would be great! Love the voice over, which at first I thought was cringy but you went for it (Could commit a bit with the laugh though). It seems that the level is not generated every time I play. It would be nice if you do some randomization so people can replay the game :D. Great work!

20000 Leaks Under the Sea by webthingee 2018-08-16T01:30:46Z

Whowww very polished, very complete, I feel like Im playing an actual game from some publisher :O. I do think I have seen this kind of idea somewhere but couldnt recall exactly, but I think its the implementation of yours that matters - everything fits together too well that I dont think anyone can find anything to add to that :O. Great great work, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. It always plays very well on the web too, while mine experiences some performance issue on the web build T_T

Space Runner 2048 by RAFFE 2018-08-15T16:08:24Z

Love the floaty feel of the movement, really screams outer space. Music was great too! Art work is simple but cute. I wish the boxes were pixelated, it bugs me a bit because they are higher def and feel out of place. Good job otherwise!!

City Gardener by PacoChan 2018-08-14T17:29:27Z

In love with the color scheme and design of the trees. Very satisfying to look at them grow

Noninterferance by Dumivid 2018-08-18T17:29:06Z

OMG this game is so cool haha. I love the concept, very busy with the control, but Im glad the controls werent random. Also like the small details about each family member. It is a fun game, and the controls staying the same allow players to get better at this. I literally screamed LEAVE ME ALONE, thinking that you get audio input for that. Still dead. It was probably too small. Again! LEAVE ME ALONE. STILL DEAD. WHYYYYY hahaha.

A very interesting entry overall, great work! Sometimes after a play I just see all black and the end screen isnt shown, maybe a bug?

Space Crusher by Brallex 2018-08-14T13:57:21Z

A cool game, the scroller seems to be redundant as you have time ticking off already. The control feels very nice, except that the ball has too much friction with the walls it seems. A fun game with a bit weak intepretation of the theme. Im sure if you had more time it would have been much much better. Would be cool to see a local multiplayer version of this as well!

Binary Garbage Separation by Nehvis 2018-08-16T04:48:24Z

I played on keyboard and experience same problem, very hard and unintuitive. This jam helps me realize that there are sooo many platforms and input devices to support for a game - a tremendous amount of things. Windows/Mac/Ubuntu/phone platforms/web + keyboard, mouse, mousepad, gameboard, joystick, controller.. Its overwhelming :(. Sorry I just cant help but sigh that out T_T. Anyway, simple game idea, could work on the mapping so control on keyboard is more intuitive, otherwise you may lose some ratings T_T

Emissary by Handle 2018-08-14T02:38:31Z

I died a lot and very fast. The control was rather complex for me to follow. I understand that it adds complexity to the gameplay, but I couldn't follow it. So you have ASDW because I dont have a joystick, but then A or space is jump. Space is fine for me, but then you have X under ASDW, and then B above Space. I couldnt think of anyway of using my hands to control it properly. Having all the OR options adds a bit more confusion to it too. Probably just the design choice, but I could enjoy the game more if the control layout was a bit less complex. It would be great if you have several levels, and start increasing the complexity of the game, i.e. adding ability and control keys. My game play was basically rolling around and jumping when possible/have to. And for the part that I love: great art work, the graphic, the UI.. It is so pleasing to see and even tho I died quickly, it doesnt stop me from replaying the game haha. The main menu was sooo impressively elegant that I really didnt mind it having no music. Great job!!

Emissary by Handle 2018-08-14T06:14:18Z

@handle at the main menu? Are you sure? I just double checked it, still no sound in the main menu. Im playing the web version though. Once you play the game, there is sound.

Journey of the Crab by maoap 2018-08-15T18:12:23Z

A fun little platformer with timing constraint. I like the design of the crab and the food. The control is sometimes off, like I press jump but it doesnt jump.. Music is not bad, if I were to do a compo I won't even be able to make music. Overall, great job with the compo, you have done quite a lot in 48 hours. P/S. I didnt know TextMeshPro even counts for an asset until you say it, yes it is not built in the engine! T_T

Bunny Bazooka by MZA 2018-08-16T14:27:41Z

Bus Stop Blast by NotSpaghettiGames 2018-08-21T22:17:39Z

Very slippery, but very fun. I totally ignored the objective of the game and made my own objective: destroy all the houses. I love that you can destroy everything in the game, also giving the camera control to player is such a nice touch; it all made me feel like I have all the power in the game. Very solid entry, and Im very impressed with you guys being in high school and producing a game with this much quality. Great great job! When I was 17, I was studying Pascal T_T. I believe you guys will have bright future in game industry. Keep it up!

Spacebars by The Triumvirate 2018-08-15T04:27:32Z

I like the UI and the interaction with the UI. Like someone said above, the retry is buggy and always registers only "etry" and I need to add an r at the end, so like "retryr". Also I think the indication of which key has been pressed and not is not very clear to see. For example when I mess up the typing, I should be able to know which key I need to toggle, and I need to know that exact key, otherwise it wont work. Also there is a performance issue in level 3, super laggy. All in all, a very fun little game that fits in with the theme :D

DOS: Deletion (of) Old Stuff by Call_me_Nutty 2018-08-17T11:44:14Z

Hey I just played the game, cant pass level 2 haha. Here are some feedback of mine.

- First, the death sound effect, I wont be surprised if people have complained about that, but Im sure a quick fix would do.

- Second, moving platform should have the player sticking to it, here is a useful pointer for that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R_AdDK25kQ. Chasing the moving platform really drove me nuts so I could count your game as a rage game haha.

- I think the collision is fine. But the movement of the character doesnt seem right. He is a block with spike, which suggests that he should be heavy and slow, but in fact he moves sooo fast its almost too hard to control him. I overshoot his jump a lot of time though, it could get annoying in combination with chasing the moving platforms.

Otherwise I think your game is very promising if you have some more time to polish it. What I like about the game is that even though it is a platformer with moving platform, the movement of the platform is known in advance by players, such that they know the pointer would come and collect that platform so there is some time to plan everything out. Very potential idea, great work! And congrats on getting 50 ratings, now its 51 xD

DOS: Deletion (of) Old Stuff by Call_me_Nutty 2018-08-17T12:16:45Z

@call-me-nutty Great job! Your game is a great example of mechanic first polish after, I think you got a bunch of feedback here about the mechanic, should be very helpful for your post-jam version. Best of luck!!

Who Z For Dinner by talisra22 2018-08-17T11:01:31Z

Whow, the art style is awesome. I love the juiciness in each shoot, however I do think that could be toned down just a touch, especially the shooting animation of the character. The game feels a little bit low paced for me, possibly because you started out with a small map and the speed of tiles dropping is slowly increasing. Idk if you have tested this on a larger map but to me that and increasing the tile dropping speed could make the game pace become faster - just my 2 cents. Otherwise, love the sound track and the shooting is just so juicy, control is responsive, a very fun game overall. Good job!

Honest Dan's Clutteral Damage by Honest Dan 2018-08-15T16:24:04Z

An organizing puzzle game with fntastic art, great music, multiple characters and they seem to have CHARACTERISTIC as well. There is a lot in your game that I appreciate, I think you went a bit big with this game so its hard to finish everything on time, but it sure showed the potential. Great great job!!

Warehouse Madness by Andreadbx 2018-08-17T16:04:57Z

Very solid on the graphics and the theme, I find the game a bit stressful to play, but I was literally running out of space (I guess.. a good thing? haha). Maybe you can make it a bit easier if you would update for a post-jam version. Great work!

Space Hauler by Keppu 2018-08-15T01:00:27Z

Your environment really has a floaty feel to it, the player and objects do have a lot of momentum, everything screams outer space. Great work with the physics system! Your game is at a very polished level, there is nothing much to add to it. I intended to do the compo but failed to so I get how much work it takes. Great great great work in 48 hours.

ClapBang by arron-fowler 2018-08-19T19:28:49Z

Hey I got lost during my first try not knowing what to do, there were no shooting. Later when I learn to recognize the powerups, I realized I have missed the powerups in the first run and thus, was not able to fire a single bullet. I mean powerups are meant to make you stronger, like shoot faster, or with more bullets. I dont think youre supposed to get a powerup to start shooting. Players should be "shooting on arrival" like said in the tutorial. Overall, I think this is a fun game, but its not challenging enough for me. After a while I can kill the enemy pretty fast and then after that it seems to be a bug that the round doesnt get ended. You could definitely ramp up the difficulty a little bit for hardcore fans like me xD. Great work!

ClapBang by arron-fowler 2018-08-19T21:31:57Z

Ahh I see, so players would get items, and start shooting as soon as he has picked up an item. If that's the direction you are going for, I highly suggest making the item bigger and more recognizable, also introduce them slowly so players get a chance to learn which item is for what. I have experienced this problem before. I made a clone of curve fever and added my own custom boosts to the game, altogether about 20 boosts, and when I have my friend playtesting the game they said seeing what each boost is and watching the opponent at the same time are too difficult to manage. I ended up making a boosts unlocking system where I can unlock new item and the item would then be spawn into the game, then players would unlock items one by one and they have a chance to learn what each item means. Maybe it could be something useful for you..

Balls Deep In Lava by BlueMirror 2018-08-14T18:08:12Z

Construction Pit by TheSomeoneXD 2018-08-14T04:17:47Z

This game scores pretty high for me as I dont really have any criticism besides the choice of control keys. It took me a while to get used to, moving with arrow keyboards and then C and X seem arbitrary. Otherwise, once you have the hang of it, this game is awesome! Music, graphics, cut scene, game play.. And because Im watching a guy playing this on a twitch stream that uses the contoller for the game and it does seem very intuitive. Great great work!

Volka by Cisco 2018-08-16T14:36:04Z

Fun, addictive, brilliant mechanic, the graphics is a bit lacking and the red is a bit saturated for me, but who cares!! because the game is sooo good. This will do very well post-jam, I really hope you release this on mobile, great great work man!!

Pizza Defender by Sloyd 2018-08-17T15:55:53Z

Whow very lovely graphics. Did you implement destructible terrain or is that a pixel matrix? The pizza being eaten over time is just amazingly satisfying from the point of a programmer haha. I think your game scores very high in all categories. Great interpretation of the theme, I really enjoyed the game. GJ!!

Great great GREAT WORK!

Dumpotopia by DjeyCreations 2018-08-21T15:58:02Z

The web build doesn't start the game for me, it seems to be stuck on the main menu, nothing to interact with. I couldnt see Start button T_T. I thought its not very fair if I try only the web build, so I tried the windows build. Guess what, same thing, there is no start button! T_T

Made With Meat by EatThePath 2018-08-15T20:34:27Z

Hey I could play the game now. I like that you have all the instructions on the game so I read one and can test that organ right away. The goal of the game is clear: keep your brain survive, but I am not sure how, also all the organs on the left panel do not show their relation to the growth/security of the brain. Also after a while when I play, some organs just disappear without a notified cause, I guess they have a health and touching the yellow thingy kills them? There should be an indication for the age/heath of these organs so players know when they die. Also when I can't build something, it should also let me know why, what is lacking, etc. Overall, I think there is a lot to improve, but it does look like a good start. And you have put everything together in a short amount of time, great work!

Space Taters by Jan 2018-08-14T02:45:43Z

Light Towers [WEB] by Jack Maxwell 2018-08-15T23:09:13Z

Hey it seems to be a fun game, I think it loosely tight to the theme, because this is not running out of space, you need to land a block to a specific position and it has to be the right color. A way to reinforce the theme is to have the blocks smaller and smaller in size so its harder to put them in the right position. In term of the presentation, I like the UI, the texts popping up is very nice. The programming art is alright, but it could be better. I think you have the maximum point is like +103? its a bit arbitrary, I think you could make it 100, unless 103 means something to you hehe. Anyhow, good work, keep it up!

iPhone Defender by Extrone 2018-08-14T07:01:39Z

Love the graphics. The call was very funny, but I kinda expected more on that, I mean you have a lot of things to go for with that call you know. I tried a lot of things to see if there are hidden gems but that seems to be it. Like I pressed buttons different than 0, 1, 2, rejected the call continuously, keep spamming 0, etc. It is a very cool take on the humor, you can really add more on top of that. I think at least you can predict that player would go back and replay the game to check out the other 2 options after the initial choice, so you may want to change the content of the call, or maybe have a skip button or something, so they dont have to wait for that again and again. Another thing is to keep the menu cohesive, e.g. here:

ezgif.com-video-to-gif.gif

Besides that, I totally enjoyed the game and the humor. Good job!

A Fight on the Waves by MarkoPoloDev 2018-08-15T14:07:55Z

I think the colors in the game, although they go together, didn't have enough pop to it to say something needs attention from players. For example, here the HP indication on top right and bottom don't pop up from the rest of the scene as they should, because players need to pay extra attention to them. The boss color blends in with the water as well. The player is good though as you can tell it stands out of everything else. I really like the design and the animation, thats why I go a bit overboard with the color scheme because I thought it doesnt stay up there with the design. Overall, a very solid entry! Good job!

Edit: Btw, this is not to say that I dont like the graphics, I love it though, not bad score I swear haha. Also nice tutorial.

Too Many Harlots by Team Infernus 2018-08-17T06:09:27Z

A Sinking Feeling by Beard or Die 2018-08-17T00:06:17Z

Whow the underwater effect is so realistic that I felt suffocated (I dont know how to swim). Also I am totally by myself in this game, and everything feels very immersive. Very good job! My only comment is that the water rising is a bit abrupt, which is not to say its bad - it actually works great as to show players a very clear indication that the water level IS rising - but it takes away the immersion that the underwater effect and everything else with the environment has built. When overlooking that, this game is just an awesome gaming experience. Thank you!

Zero Star by CristiHKJ 2018-08-15T00:37:34Z

The graphics of the game is really cool, it sets the mood to the game as well. The control feels right, sound effects work, the blockly particle effect doesnt really go with the two high-def models. All these can only get better, keep it up!

BLOCK_SHOT by UnityMember 2018-08-15T23:16:16Z

Hey I think the reflection of the ball could have some work on, such that it should go to an angle when it collides near the end of the bar. Also placing locks on the arena as square boxes does not bring as much variation to the game as placing circles. I highly recommend trying to place circles instead, it would be pretty fun. As someone said earlier, an AI would work as well. Anyway, a really good start, you can add more on top of this game easily, like boosts and all.

Beater by Velocity7 2018-08-22T11:26:40Z

Hey your link is invalid. I would love to try some rhythm game as I have been very hooked with these kind of games and wanted to make one for myself

Beater by Velocity7 2018-08-22T16:01:39Z

Heyyy I just checked out the visualizer, its *very* flickery, to a point that it hurts visually. But thats only in the beginning when the song is warming up, in the middle the flickering goes away a little bit. I think adding a buffer would definitely help smooth out the changes in size of the boxes, lessening the flickering effect. I really like music visualizers and it's very nice to see one in this LD jam. Keep it up!

PS Idk if you have heard about the music game jam but I think you might be interested in. It's on itch.io and will start in 10 days. You have 2 weeks to work on your game too so you will have plenty of time to do whatever you want to do xD.

cargOS by tigerj 2018-08-16T19:32:41Z

I don't know about other players but I really had a hard time playing this, I think this game would actually do really well if it is a turn-based game rather than real-time. I like the mechanic in this game, having the conveying basically doubles the cost for each action (picking A from X to Y). I do think this will make up for a great turn based game. Anyhow, great work putting everything together for the compo, I failed that so, good well done!

Runing Out Of space - cakes by Nalah 2018-08-21T16:12:05Z

Skateboarding was an awesome level, but that's as far as I could get, Im not really good at this game :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I think the movement of the character is a bit too fast and floaty for me, also there was too much momentum. I died multiple time in the wall jump section because I cannot land properly to the end-level ball. The height of wall jump was different too, I wonder was that a bug or something you intended to? Otherwise, very lovely graphics, the sound effect goes with it and there are many interesting mechanics in the game. A very promising entry. Well done!

Globulator by Corbak 2018-08-16T15:36:26Z

I like the mechanic, and I think it has a lot of the potential but you havent been able to exploit all of that, a very promising entry for post-jam. I totally enjoyed the game, good job!

The legend of the looter and the incredible backpack that never runs out of spac by agar3s 2018-08-21T08:22:59Z

Whow very innovative! I love the hook mechanic and the fact that you can put anything in your inventory. The quest system is really nice too. This seems like a complete game that can be released already. Great work!!

PS Found a bug that the skeleton still follows me when it's stunned, I think its a known bug to you guys, probably just a quick fix would do.

LimitedLootHunters by rhewid 2018-08-16T22:14:08Z

Hey the idea is very interesting, it has a deep complexity to it. The control is actually very straightforward too. There is a lot you can add to that to make the game more enjoyable, one of which is definitely a replay button. Sometimes I run into a soft locked situation and cannot progress, then the replay/restart button or command would be very very helpful.

Anyhow, I ran into an error, maybe you can look into that and fix this in the post-jam version. ___________________________________________ ############################################################################################ FATAL ERROR in action number 1 of Alarm Event for alarm 0 for object oOrcBrightGreen:

Falling Town by Centauri 2018-08-16T12:40:12Z

I like the theme of the game, I just thought it was too easy, once you have your first future skyscraper and a couple of mills, its all about pressing the next day button, and hoping for the comet not to hit your town hall.

Spaced Out by Roidz 2018-08-21T07:11:06Z

The game gets hard very quick despite looking like an easy game. At the moment the gameplay is a bit passive as the players don't have many options to manipulate the rocks besides Kaboom-ing them. I wished there were an item to scale down the asteroids and a boost to protect me in x amount of seconds as well, then I could play a bit more reckless xD. Now because I cant touch anything, the game feels a bit slow. However, if that's what youre going for, youve got it! Overall, very cool visual, lovely music, interesting game play, a very promising entry. Some more boosts, some more shapes for the rocks then it'd be good for a mobile game. Great job!

Ultimate Harvest Day by Marcelo92 2018-08-14T05:52:14Z

Very cute graphics. The game play is simple, a combination of two genres for me. I am not really good at traditional shooting games so variations of that mixed up with other genres is really what I enjoy. I think your game did good with both genres, it kinda implements the theme death is useful as well :D So props for that! The theme presence is not very strong in your game but I see the space limit there. Its pretty fun, good job!

Fantastic entry. Had I not watched this on a stream, I would probably have teared up when I actually play it. Thank you for an unforgettable gaming experience. Shrinking Planet by Danilo 2018-08-15T04:20:49Z

Hey Idk if your algorithm is generating the new sphere at your position but it feels like that, I think the warning was too short, maybe it should be longer so player has enough time to react to that. Not a bad idea, could work if you polish it more. Keep it up!

Kazoete by Lost Dutchman Software 2018-08-16T21:34:50Z

Haha, I gonna be honest with you, as much as I like japanese, my choices in this game feel pretty random, like you gotta teach me something, I cant just learn words by trial and error T_T. Its a simple game, but I think there are better ways to take Japanese as the theme, especially I know there are words that are built up from other smaller words, that would really make a fun game I reckon. Anyhow, good job on putting everything together, but the game didnt really teach me any japanese, so you're accused for false advertisement! :joy:

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-17T07:18:21Z

Hey am I the only one that actually like the controls on this game? I wish you had told players in the beginning how to control the character, so I didnt have to guess how it is done. But once I found out that the control's forward direction is mapped to where I point my mouse to, it feels much easier navigating through the game. I guess it would be better if you allow an option to remap the control for others, but I personally like it this way. I think the game could have more feedback to picking up the phone. Sometimes Im not sure if I have picked it up or not.

Otherwise, I say the game is pretty ... erhm.. uhmm.. I don't know ... well done or something

Ultimate Furniture Stacker X-Treme by Norris Eldridge 2018-08-17T14:15:24Z

@norris-eldridge Im the kind of player who never read tutorial and hope that the controls are intuitive LMAO. My bad, but your controls are pretty nice. Yeah a slamming animation would be very juicy \m/

Deity of Destruction by Veilastrum 2018-08-16T22:29:26Z

Hey I think people say earlier that they were confused mostly because the strange hit box for the boxes on the screen. I dont know the reason behind it, but I think if you can fix this in a post-jam version it would be no problem. I actually got used to clicking on the circle on the bottom of the boxes and it wasnt that difficult to hit. In fact, its perhaps a bit easier to aim, because then I dont need to care about what kind of box it is. If you are still going for this hit box, maybe the circle should get more attention with the color, design and all, and the boxes should be of a more washed down color to tell players that don't shoot here, shoot down here (the circles). Anyhow, you game actually look ver very good and I dont know why you havent gotten 20 rates. Its probably just bad luck T_T. I have to say the game was a bit difficult, really try to tone down the difficulty of the game, my best record was only to survive ~100 sec. Other than the balancing and the problem of the hit boxes not getting enough attention from players, I really enjoyed your game. The design of the god looks very powerful and scary. Good job!

Bouncy - A Bouncing Ball Game by ItPlay 2018-08-16T03:07:41Z

Omg I get so much motion sickness from the game, not to say its not a good game but I couldnt enjoy it as much as I could. What I advise is to put some kind of background or some landsight, something on the floor that is static so my brain interprets this as a static arena. Otherwise, even though I know its not moving and its just that everything is moving, my brain keeps telling me that the ball is moving in a bigger environment and the camera is moving as well, which is not. Idk if you can see it the way I see it. So everything is fine when there is something standing still in the scene, like the yellow ball/coin, but as soon as that disappears I get motion sickness. Regardless, I like the idea and the use of neon colors in the game, thought you could have gone all the way with that color scheme, like decorate the areana or make an enclosing neon lighting arena or something. Great work!

duty madness by bhavesh_tiwari 2018-08-17T21:15:56Z

Nice graphics and the music is pretty cool. I wish that there was more to it than just going back and forth between two places. I agree with everyone's feedback here. I think you need more mechanic. If I were you I would let people come in like a bar or a restaurant, and serve people cocktail or something, but then people will stay, so you will have the place filled up and then its harder to bring drinks/food to people. The art asset you created is solid, hope you can fully exploit its potential

Lemon by TroyD 2018-08-15T16:03:34Z

Simple game play, excellent humor. The game was a bit difficult for me, I want to get a high score to see how the narrators would react to that, sadly I couldnt LOL. Great game overall, well done!!

Happy Knight by Borys 2018-08-20T20:42:14Z

One more rating. Very polished looking, the art style is amazing, the scene transition was awesome, I especially love that. The fighting was very fun, I spammed the mouse like crazy and ended up with 76 points. I think the indication to when I actually hit the enemy could be more emphasized so its more juicy, now it looks a bit insignificant. Also the side scrollers dont seem to come at me, I think they move a bit too slow. Those are very minor details that I think could make your game even more juicy that it is. Very solid entry, great work!!

Happy Knight by Borys 2018-08-20T21:29:30Z

@borys heyyy I think the enemies' speed was alright, just the wall closing in a bit slow

Cryptographer by Firebelley 2018-08-14T06:11:30Z

Whow the mechanic of this game is so simple yet working so great. It makes you go slow in a platformer. There is a lot of puzzle element in the game as well and the the last to end level is just magnificent. I guess that tells how much I liked the game. Good job!!

Noah's Help! by Ian Kettlewell 2018-08-14T05:36:48Z

Very nice simple polished game, I don't think there is anything I can criticize, the graphics is very lovely and the sound effects really work great with that. The game idea is that you fit all these animals to a space, but its not really running out of space because you know you have that amount of space. The "running out" here is during trial and error that you dont have enough space and have to rearrange things. Its a clever take on the theme, I love that! Very good job. It tells me that you can just take a simple idea and make it clean and polished and there you have a good game!!

Captain Graphite by honey 2018-08-17T18:55:34Z

Hey Im playing your game but I could not see any enemies, I have gone to all of the borders of the map, still dont find anything. Its an empty map in the version I play :(

Update: Found them. I know why this happens. So I did not know that I was supposed to go UP. Maybe you should have an indication somewhere. In my first 2 tries I keep searching down and left and right and couldnt find anything, because there is nothing there, I need to go up.

Anyhow, control is super intuitive, art style is cohesive and fantastic, movement of character feels right (I love the steering momentum) and sound effect fits the game. A great entry, I really liked it!

The Lonely Moon by DanCan 2018-08-21T07:46:55Z

Hey this game is so addictive haha, and yes it reminds me of cookie clicker but not all cookie clickers are addictive haha. Anyhow, I think Indiegogo gives me the most amount of money, launching the satellite cubes and laser doesnt give me much money as they crashed almost immediately after being launched. I think some tool tip here on how to use them in the most efficient way would be best. Otherwise, a very fun game, and honestly I just click and click but the visual feedback makes me feel like Ive done so much more haha. Great job!

Collector by Serious07 2018-08-17T00:00:48Z

A fun puzzle game with a nice twist on the theme. I see that you have some collision problem there, and also the control sometimes gets in the way of the game. I can see this game with a bit more polished being played post-jam though, keep it up!

Camp Snuggle by Scott Steffes 2018-08-30T02:56:26Z

I got 710 points  A really lovely game, the difficulty is just right on, not making you frustrated and still keep it challenging to play. The music really helped to add the mood to the game. Very solid entry, good job!

Totally Slammed by FireHawk 2018-08-21T07:27:19Z

Hey Idk if Ive found a bug: if I exit the game to the main menu and start a new game, Im stuck at the score:0 screen. Anyway, very interesting game. I managed to not fuck up any document until day 3 haha. I think you executed the idea very neatly, there's not much I could suggest adding except some minor things. You can consider making the hit box for the stamps on the documents a big bigger than the real size, because the game promote fast action, which doesnt come with much accuracy. Having a bit bigger hit box makes the game more forgiving, players make more progress and thus, more addicted to the game. Another small detail is that the document on top of the pile doesnt seem to be the next document on the table. I was trying to look at the top document and react to that but that turned out incorrect. For example, the top document is a green document without a stamp, then right after finishing the current document, I will move whatever document next to the green box. If this is not what you guys intend to do, thats alright, but then change the visual of the pile to avoid this misunderstanding. I actually think it would be very cool to implement that, encouraging players to study the pattern before hand, thus feeling that he/she can be better at the game and it becomes more addictive. Overall, great entry. Well done!

Edit: The stamp dragging was a bit annoying too. Could that be replaced with keyboard controls? Like AWSD, then players make the most of their hands xD, although that takes away the originality as it reminds of rhythm games

Dataphobia by Shozou 2018-08-16T13:31:07Z

Great button feedback, the wall jump mechanic is fantastic. It was very very very challenging at first, I didnt even get why I fall down the wall T_T but once I get it, I feel much more powerful haha. Love the interactive tutorial man, good job squeezing that in last minute, one of the best tutorial Ive seen in this LD's entries!

Count your Steps (or you will run out of space) by Akros 2018-08-15T23:29:31Z

Hey I love the atmosphere you created there, seems very dark and moody. The colors of the buttons dont seem to go with everything else though, I thought the violet buttons could be yellow and the green button at the end could be a glowing white button. I like the puzzle, although I think having free navigation introduces higher possibility of making error for player, and this game is definitely not forgiving with error so free navigation + free camera control makes everything even more challenging. I dont know if it was intentional but these kinds of game that requires an overview of the arena really doesnt fit first person view, unless you provide camera zoom. What I like about the game mechanic was the level design, it progresses from easy peasy to the point where I really need to think about the solution. So yeah, great work!!

Bead Jar by Lotus 2018-08-16T17:29:11Z

I don't know what you were going for, I keep going for a while then I die. I think even if youre making a prototype, game jam is a great place for getting feedback for your prototype. I could check out your post jam version if you keep working on it. Im new to game dev too

Space, Space and Space by Rafael Endo 2018-08-15T13:52:55Z

Simple puzzle game, very understandable rule, everything has an indication. The game isnt too long either, I enjoyed it overall! Btw, it feels that the kind of puzzle game is kinda restricted to what the dev designed to be the solution. I didnt feel like I could get a creative solution, more like finding the solution you intended to. But I guess that comes with more time spent in level design.

Trash Tide by Josh Stafford 2018-08-14T18:35:12Z

Simple game that has a bit of the mood element to it for me, mostly thanks to the scenery. Not bad for a time killer game. Good work in 48 hours.

Project Unicorn - Running out of space by ProjectMakers 2018-08-17T16:34:27Z

Yes the sound is very loud, but I think you can put on a patch with an update log saying that you tuned that down and leave the original version there too so people can choose to play the version with a patch with the sound or not. Usually if its just a patch for the volume, people wouldn't mind. LD also allows small bug fixes, I guess changing some values wouldnt affect anything, as long as you dont add any features to the game.

Otherwise I think the game was a pretty cool take on the theme, lovely animation and funny sound effects. However when it says matching, I did expect to have another player but there wasnt anyone else. I tried again, still me alone. Is that a feature or a bug? :joy:

Cluttered Mind by HAUO 2018-08-16T14:55:37Z

So so so good, it was a great gaming experience, and the art is just to die for. Everything works very smoothly and there is always the "ah" moment when I figure out how the puzzle works. Great great entry!

Running out of Space by ZozeR 2018-08-18T15:15:10Z

I played V2 too. Very cool animation, when I restart the initial sprite for the space changes as well. My only comment is that sometimes the wall appears to be there but I can still pass it. I also like the intro a lot. I would rate it by V2 and - .5 for overall, great job putting it all together!

The Sand Will Bury Me by anacat 2018-08-16T19:38:54Z

A bit overpunishing to send you back a level when you fail one, and that takes away the chance to let players learn from their mistake. Maybe if someone fails twice then you send them back a level, I think thats more forgiving for errors. Otherwise, loved the storytelling, youve succesfully created a very immersive environment and there is the player and your story. Well done.

Sugar Withdrawal by Raccoon_JS 2018-08-14T21:37:29Z

It all goes so fast! I was just getting the hang of it when I realized I had finished it! Tried it for MacOs, Player gets stuck on the walls, keep the hard work!

Star Hopper by Daniel Mak 2018-08-16T17:43:29Z

Very interesting mechanic, I think it is very promising for a post-jam version. Keep it up

SunnyLand by soumitra.shewale 2018-08-17T07:08:24Z

@jamison I think the height with and without the jump is not 2, maybe its like 1.5 or something. Because if its 2, then its a double jump and you can just press jump another time.

Anyhow, @soumitra-shewale I think the gameplay was simple but well executed, I did wonder why the graphics looks familiar though, and I recall some official Unity tutorials done with this character. Beside that, I think you had a pretty clean implementation of a platformer, it definitely is a good start. You have time to learn, keep it up! See you in LD43 xD

Where is my place ? by diwo 2018-08-16T12:04:30Z

Hey I like the graphics and the death animation a lot. The arrangement of the tiles is a bit too difficult for me, I always die within a minute or so. I wish you have had several levels or have an easy mode so I could go further and see more in the game. But with what I have seen, I like it! Good job!

backSpace-X by omercanbalandi 2018-08-16T03:56:10Z

A fun shooting game with resource management element to it. I like that you have HP indication on the enemy, really a nice touch, but there is something off about it. Idk, just something about the HP indication that is off. Maybe because it doesnt feel belonged there? Idk, I think a better solution to your case is to display the HP as the outer circle bounding the enemy, that might make it better looking and feel more like that belongs to the enemy. Otherwise I like the music and the resource management system. Great work!

Groundfall by Arcus 2018-08-27T12:18:40Z

T button doesnt work for me, and the goal wasn't clear to me what I needed to do after getting all the coins. Agree with everyone about the collision, and the sound effect is a bit too loud. Leave that aside, it's not a bad entry at all. I see that you spent time on the graphics and it looks much better than my programmer art. I would recommend maybe spending more time on the mechanic and a bit less on the graphics, because then you get a good idea with a lot of feedback out of a jam instead of a simple game mechanic with lovely graphics and not much to add to post-jam. Anyhow, great work, see you in the next LD!

Moxie by Pohko 2018-08-16T04:18:55Z

Ghosh I made a platformer too and didnt handle this very well but you did it amazingly in your game: JUMPING. Jumping in platformer is what you do 90% of the time and you make it look very satisfying, very light and responsive yet it feels like it has some weight to it. I wonder how did you create that kind of movement though, adding speed when leaving off of the ground and slowing down on the air I mean, I really have no idea how to do that. That said, great great work, very solid entry!

Halcyon Woods by PopDaddyGames 2018-08-14T17:56:52Z

The game portraits a weak intepretation of the theme. I think just some small fix it could more or less matches the game, but I like it this way. It wouldnt score high for theme though but I thoroughly enjoyed everything else. I think you guys did a good job at bundling everything together to get such a pleasant in-game experience, it looks very promising as a bigger post-jam game. Keep it up!

Anxiety by TontonPizza 2018-08-14T18:26:09Z

A great gaming experience. I really love the way you convey the message in a simple way: just white text on top of black background. An excellent and creative way of utilizing negative space. This game scores really high for me. I even wonder how you implemented the triggers for the text, at first I thought they were triggered by people around her but when I go back to the camp, it was still going.. so I guess it is random after being triggered? Anyhow, great great work!

Shoot O' Space by TinyNerd 2018-08-17T09:06:16Z

Got 45 points, a very fun game, the sound effect goes with the theme, I don't know if I can move at all, at some point the ship actually moved a bit and I tried to do that again with AWSD and arrow keys but failed. I think the dead enemies clutter the view too much, maybe you can clean that a bit after each round, because they are red and the enemies are red as well so its hard to see. Otherwise, a very fun game, it is pretty visible that my skills get better and the high score is a nice touch.

S.P.A.C.E., inc. by Team-on 2018-08-23T22:20:56Z

Hey I just played the game, its quite addictive actually. You did a very good job with audio feedback, I always knew what I have performed an action. The visual feedback could be improved tho. Despite the fact that I am also a programmer and I already respect that you have some character animation in there, different animations are not very distinctive, also some takes quite a while to prepare for the action to take place (rolling over takes a fraction of a second until the character rolls, during which I could already have collided with the wall). Enemies are now of different colors, but they are not really different in behaviors. If you don't plan to add more behaviors to them, consider making just one kind of enemy. All in all, a very promising entry with some level of addiction caused to players. Great job!

Quick Packer by Moo 2018-08-15T14:44:29Z

Hey I like the puzzle element in the game, it has potential to add more post-jam too  . The boxes apparently are potential to be replaced by other objects, like bigger tables etc. Now they sort of take away the the illusion that I am packing real things, also it reduces the difficulty of the game. I like the sound indication that there is a collision, like when you park your car. Overall a fun puzzle game, there is potential to it! Also right on the theme!

Clot! by Ghoster 2018-08-19T13:49:54Z

Hey besides the bug that the score doesn't increase, I think the game is pretty fun. I was trying to build a wall around me so the enemies cannot come through haha, I still think that idea can be done, but the permanent death (die with 1 hit) is a bit too harsh. Otherwise I really enjoyed the game, the transition to the new scene was very smooth too, good job!

Heyyyyyyy guess what I really cant leave the game without doing it so here I did it LMAO

R.O.O.M. (Really Obvious Objects Moving) by NorthernDevGuy 2018-08-16T00:36:05Z

It is a fun game, there is a lot of polishing that you can put on top of it. What I really like about your game is that it has nothing on the UI, which is perfect! I love games that only put things on the UI if its really needed. Keep up the good work!

Space Dog Escape by yayapipi 2018-08-17T08:51:51Z

Haha you do people do so well on this game? I got only 17 points LMAO. I surely had fun, the AI following me very closely makes it quite challenging, but him being big and cant jump high make it much more playable. The music sounds pretty uplifting but doesnt seem to fit well with the fight with the monster. Otherwise, well done!

AstroExpand by Timbals 2018-08-16T15:21:40Z

The idea is pretty promising, there is a lot you could add on top of that to polish for the post-jam version I think

CubiCo by Dominic 2018-08-16T16:10:14Z

Art style is great, the music is very pleasant (though there are no sound effects, I thought it went with the game vibe). I appreciate the level design in your game, I think you have elaborated the mechanic much better than other games going in the same direction. Great job, a very promising entry. Good luck post-jam!

Space Intruder by LoneHearts 2018-08-16T13:40:05Z

A fun little shooter, not really good at it because of the control, but I have managed to get 213 points at the 3rd try, half your score hehe :D. I think the tutorial looks a bit busy, and there are things that I don't necessarily have access to in the beginning so you can separate them and display them when they are accessible (boosts, etc). Great job putting it all together!

Btw, I think the character deserves a bit better design rather than an ellipse with an X in the middle  - so that it matches with the level of art work put on other stuffs in the game

Compress Chaos by Xerozylir 2018-08-14T22:42:11Z

Inventory Story by FredMaaktGames 2018-08-16T14:11:57Z

A really fun game, I love the hand coming back and trying to find something to attack. There are some collision problems, but that could be fixed quickly post-jam, I think it has a lot of potential. Very nice!

Alchemy Factory by Treizive 2018-08-16T03:48:53Z

Whow whow whow very interesting idea. Your game will score innovative pretty high for me. Such a shame there wasnt enough time for polishing, otherwise it could have been one of the most interesting entry in this LD. I really like that you still keep it on point with the theme yet putting in your own twist of the crafting system (or how do you call this kind of game?). Anyway I totally dig this element combination situation. If you really want to learn more and add more to this game, I highly suggest making a clone of some of the big game of this kind, and then turn your game into something similar to that but with a twist. I read a bit of previous comments and there are combinations that people think should be there and you didnt cover, but if you make a clone of something already successful, you will get the basic of element combination and that problem will be fix. Really a promising entry. Keep it up!!

The City Of Forgotten Toys by dk5000p 2018-08-16T13:22:18Z

Idk why others here budum budum but I heard butter butter butter butter BUTTERRRRRR.. I love the music man, really Im not kissing your ass but was I thought I was doing the compo, I spent so much time trying to make a music piece and none of them worked, thats why I appreciate you having the gut to do it and it was actulaly very funny LMAO. A bit confusing with the game since the goal was to collect toys but I don't know exactly what are toys. Putting a picture of what you refer to as toys would be great! Overall, a very fun entry, mostly due to the music hahahahaha.

The City Of Forgotten Toys by dk5000p 2018-08-16T14:16:02Z

@dk5000p sure thing, Id do that, Im very new to all this and my itch.io page is mostly empty too. Its nice to have someone going in the same direction. About Bosca Ceoil.. that thing.. my god, people make it look so easy to make music, and when I have my hands on it, it easily takes hours and not going anywhere. I was very frustrated at one point T__T

The City Of Forgotten Toys by dk5000p 2018-08-16T15:08:09Z

@dk5000p oh no, I could try again, but it would be nice if you have a cheat code hehe  I tried again, but I have collected everything and still run out of time, only 17 toys. Are you sure I can always collect 20 toys in time or it depends on whether the generator would generate enough toys?

The City Of Forgotten Toys by dk5000p 2018-08-16T15:32:51Z

@dk5000p ahhhh I seee!! People really overlook the text tutorial, and even I have read the tutorial, there is no guarantee that I will remember that during the game play because the learning and the practicing are in different places. I have checked the stream haha, he was very committed to defeating the mayor haha

Tin Can Invasion by technodragon253 2018-08-14T17:40:42Z

Nice little game, I hope you enjoyed the jam. It would only get better though. So as someone pointed out earlier, there is a lot of things that can be improved, such as the indication of a lot of things like health, goal(s), etc. The control should be done such that I go up but can still shoot down though, so its more intuitive. One thing I love in your game is the momentum, it feels very nice and not too much. Good start!

Tin Can Invasion by technodragon253 2018-08-16T12:53:59Z

Thanks

Ramboom by Holy 2018-08-14T22:28:34Z

I enjoyed the game, it was a little bit hard to get the hang of it at the beginning but then it was ok, I found that its impossible to flee from the enemies once you're surrounded, it would be nice to have like a 1-2 seconds respawn time in between lives, everything happens very fast, after the first 3 seconds, all you have is a cloud of enemies that follow you, so its makes it easy always to aim towards the cloud instead of taking care of enemies all around the map maybe?, Keep the hard work!

ENCRYPT3D by Mapt04 2018-08-16T13:11:14Z

A fun game, at first I thought the circle moves a bit fast but then it would be less challenging if it were slower, so it was actually perfect. I think you could definitely make files of different size rather than just 11MB, and show the size of the file right on it to add more puzzle element to it.

The Dream of Becoming Too Fat by SkyreX 2018-08-17T09:14:11Z

Get 1170 points, its pretty fun actually. I think the rotation is very abrupt and I lost track of the control, I was basically monkey pressing the keys at one point because I don't know if left is still left. Even though later on I found out that the control is the same, left is still left, it is hard to tell my brain that the room is rotated but left is still left. Basically by rotating the room, you break the illusion that it was a room but it is a space, because after several rotations, I have no idea where is the floor and where is the ceiling, which by itself doesnt really matter anymore haha. Again, thats not to say your game is not fun, I enjoyed it a lot and I think there is a lot you could add on top of that. Great job!

Btw voice acting is awesome!

Color Run by Adam Pandos 2018-08-18T14:44:58Z

Some love from DanaePlay stream, it is a very challenging game, scores very high for all categories for me. If there is anything to critize, its a bit too difficult xD. At first I thought the snapping to the wall is a bit abrupt, but then it is also a good indication for players that now he has been attached to the wall. Very nice mechanic, great work!

Pyramidion by Matank 2018-08-14T04:35:37Z

I like the graphics, very nice style of art. The voice over was nice as well. The game is a bit difficult for me, but I enjoyed it. The art style was still the spot on thing in this game for me.

Dungeon Trader by TomG 2018-08-16T12:10:10Z

Whow, a very fun game!! well done! and I had no performance problems playing your game too! If there is anything I think could be better is the TRADE text. Green and brownish yellow are not complementing each other well. Also it is off a different font than the text Defeated: x. Just very minor details, otherwise I really like your game, everything is smooth, the graphics is amazing, it fits the theme very well and still has a twist on it, without being similar to other entries.

Breathing Room by Barondev 2018-08-14T01:29:00Z

Great work! I am so amazed by how much work you guys have done. Regarding the game, I think the tutorial was very nice, but then it didn't go on with the cargo, I did not fully understand what to do without, though I was quite sure I have to do something because I played several times and have activated several plants but the indication at the bottom was still 0/6. So that took me several games to figure out. Then I tried to interact with the cargo. No response. I tried to push it, no hit box. So hitting it is the only way, and I think I loss some HP for that? Besides, the enemies are kinda hard. I am not good at shooting games so this is very difficult. I think you can have a mode selection for people to choose, like I would go for the easiest mode haha. Anyhow, it was a super polished game that I will not believed made in a game jam if not having seen the submission page. Love the music and the visual effects, so pleasing. I also notice that the level is proc gen, very nice touch!!

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-15T04:15:20Z

Pretty polished game with the programmer art, particle effects and sound effects. I like the simple game play although it gets repetitive at one point. I found a bug though, which eventually lets me never die

5b73a81c2cc14262246521.gif

You can also make the cloud behind you slowly going away if you dont make mistake too, then error would be more forgivable. Overall I enjoyed the game a lot, great job!

Zlinx by frontlinesaint 2018-08-14T19:12:50Z

Very difficult platforming. My skills didnt get me to the end but I enjoyed it. There is something with the movement of the character that feels satisfying, also maybe you would want to let players know that they can triple jump, I was playing with double jump until like 10th-ish time that I realized I can triple jump too. The particle effect after each jump is still looping after being spawned though, just a small detail but if I fail to make a jump and fall down and do it again, the old jump effects are very distracting. Simple idea, clean implementation, there is a lot to add to this. Good job finishing in 48h.

The Space Virus by Anton Potatis 2018-08-15T14:00:38Z

Hey its a fun game, I like the minigame, I was trying to change the color of one button at a time, but then I figured out I should click one for each and move on to another, thats more efficient. For some reason I cant delele the files by clicking on them tho, Idk if its a known bug to you.

7.gif

The game fits the theme a bit loosely though, such that you have a timer and if you complete task the timer decreases, and the timer is the space here. Also I think when I get the password, you should leave some frame for me to see that all the buttons are in the same color before displaying the screen that I have deleted the virus, because it takes away the satisfaction of completing the minigame.

Anyhow, good job putting together a nice game with a cohesive theme within the game. Keep it up!

Refugee Rescue by William Akins 2018-08-14T05:11:12Z

4.png I dont know about others but the control is kinda weird for me, the boat was even floating at one point and the direction didnt persist with the camera view, and the camera changes angle for no obvious reasons too. I wish I had the control for the camera so it would be easier to control. I cannot make it pass 1%, maybe I have missed something? Let me know so I can replay and rescore it..

Pathcloser by Suchista 2018-08-17T20:17:58Z

Hey I enjoyed the game very much, but I can only go to level 4, hopefully I didnt miss much. I think this is a very clever puzzle game, the solution in some early levels is quite simple but from level 3 it gets agressively harder. The graphics can clearly be improved, I also think an indication of where the portal leads to should be added, like in level 2:

19.png

Otherwise, a great game. Good job putting it all together!!

Step into the Void (Web) by Bilzc10 2018-08-14T04:01:57Z

I was curious if you delete the tiles totally randomly or not. Yes you do. But it was a fast paced game anyway. If you want to add more to it, I think you could have portal going from one place to another to add more dynamic to it :D. 2.png Simple game, enjoyable, dont even need instruction, and people make progress easily. All the elements for a good game! You even fall to the outter space underneath to double play the theme haha. Great job!

Airlock Gridlock by HYPRGLOO 2018-08-14T20:09:36Z

Whow very well made. Excellent job! The game feels very polished and finished. I love the tutorial, really makes you practice what has been guided. You have limited number of stations and you need to manage that before running out of stations - an interesting take on the theme. I thought that it would be a bit more convenient to drag and drop the ships, but after I get used to your designated control, it did the navigation quite easily. I love the music as well, really go with the content of the game, and it does sound outer space. Probably my game needed something like that, not a fast paced music T_T. Again, great job!!

Zerg Coming! by hdmmy 2018-08-14T19:53:36Z

7.png

Very challenging shooting game. I found a corner and just stay there, but it seems impossible to survive the last round as the enemies was too crowded and as you can see, might bullets are firing constantly, yet the enemies could approach right next to me. Anyhow, it is satisfying to kill these enemies. Im not sure about the dead trail lasting so long.. they kinda clutter the view and causes some performance issue as well. Overall, love the game, not sure how it fits the theme running out of space though. There is a lot you can add to the UI, I think it is a solid entry. Btw, great path finding algorithms

BugSurvive by TLCoC 2018-08-21T12:26:19Z

Heyy I got 6400, not high but decent haha. Very lovely graphics, I like the mechanic of the game, and I wish the butterflies were more different in colors, or they were a bit slower. Because they are coming from all angles with high speed, I cant really focus on any of them and when they are out of my focal view, yellow and orange are not much different - just a very minor detail. Otherwise, nice graphics and mechanic, great difficult curve, intuitive controls, I had some fun time with it, great entry!

LimitedActions by Stroe Andrew 2018-08-18T17:52:49Z

Very solid entry, I really enjoy the game and had some good laughs (the humor was spot on). Get stuck on the same level as everyone else, but I see what you did there, try to filter out who are hardcore fans and not LOL. Anyhow, this game is very promising. Would love to see you extend it!

Mass Coalesce by Jumpander 2018-08-17T14:54:15Z

Hey I really enjoyed the game, we both have square characters haha but your game feels like 10 times more polished than mine. I really like the increase in size of the main character, but I thought you could throw in there a touch of puzzle if you let the player arrange those boxes, now I feel like those boxes attached kinda arbitrarily to the main character. I think you accidentally have wall jump for your character, just like mine, however here after a wall jump the jump height of your character suddenly changes, he jumps higher than usual.

5b76e1753d07b432116862.gif

Anyhow, just very minor comments, I love the graphics of the game, very polished and moody. Idk if the character moves a bit slower when he has more mass, I didnt feel any significant changes so if there was, maybe you can make that a bit more noticeable. Overall an excellent gaming experience. GJ

Mass Coalesce by Jumpander 2018-08-17T15:34:21Z

@Jumpander I dont think I can post link to my LD submission here, so this is the itch.io page: https://southocean.itch.io/space-invasion

Yes, in mine too, I did not intend to have wall jump in the game. Its the first platformer game I ever made so I guess same for you? xD

Mass Coalesce by Jumpander 2018-08-19T08:35:30Z

Hey I would love to learn from your game, but it seems that the source code you uploaded was the built project, not the project itself.

Mass Coalesce by Jumpander 2018-08-19T09:56:08Z

@jumpander Yay it works now. The game was that good, I really think I can learn a lot from it. Thanks!!

Grave Heart by very dark lord 2018-08-16T19:05:07Z

An excellent entry. I liked everything about it. I didnt play long enough to see what the end game is, but I dont have anything to complain about that, digging graves in the cemetery has never been that pleasant! The voice acting adds a lot to that.

Save the Galaxy by GameJMunk 2018-08-16T03:44:26Z

A [your extravagant adjective] platformer filled with a rich humourous back story haha. But it really is a nice entry, more of the story please hehe

Overpopulation by SimonAura 2018-08-15T15:28:56Z

HOW TO PLAY ?

Turn on electricity

Fuel the engine

Supply oxygen

Cool the rocket

Provides stabilization even during flight.

I would appreciate if you teach me how to do these in the game. I know the electricity, the fuel, oxygen, but Idk how to cool the rocket and provide stabilization. The switches do have feedback so thats good. But the launch button does not have feedback so I didnt know I should press it until several tries in. The interface has some black chunks that hides the info when the engine is tuned on, but that doesnt look good. If you can hide it and only display when you have the info, that would be a great improvement!

In term of back story, I liked it, allowing players to skip intro the second time around is a nice touch. I can only fly a short distance and die, but I try to give feedback where I can see. Great job putting it all together!

Summer's Lease by WrenPirate 2018-08-15T17:37:31Z

It is a text adventure with lots of humor in it. Not really my kind of game, but Im sure there are people who enjoy it. I also couldnt make the connection between this and the theme, but maybe its something I have to go through the story to know. I try to go through the options, it seems to have many branches in the story, great work in a short amount of time. Good job!

The Junk's Games by Paulo Augusto 2018-08-14T22:39:30Z

Couldn't rate, No file for MacOS :/ Check out mine! thanks!

The Junk's Games by Paulo Augusto 2018-08-14T23:33:26Z

Managed to play the game. There are some button collision problem: cant go back to menu from game, the collider for reset and pause button can only be clicked on the left hand side. There is a section by the end of level 1 that once I fall into, there is no way back - a success troll LOL. I experienced some performance issue as well, I think you went a little overboard with the game, especially my computer is really not liking the fire at level 3 haha. Then thats good to have performance options. Good work putting everything together!

Fade Out by karpopper 2018-08-16T04:21:12Z

A simple puzzle game with much higher forgiveness compared to some other games that as long as you walk out of a tile, it will drop and you lose it right a way. Well done putting it all together!

Anstorm by ShivArt 2018-08-16T16:06:33Z

This is definitely one of the best implementation of the enclosing arena idea, very original. Your art style is soooo slick too, Idk if you were making a reference with the spike thingy but that really reminds me of an anime series called "kagewani". Those spikes really add up the mood to the game. Great great work, it scores everything very high for me

BOX IT! by Laminariy 2018-08-17T20:01:00Z

Omg this is so addictive. The red bot is sooo fast yet I keep wanting to beat the hell out of it. At one point this really has a vibe of a rage game, because the bot is tooo fast. You know what makes this game addictive? Its all reflexes-based so players know they WILL be better at the game and might stand a chance of beating the bot. So I play your game and I even forgot time, it was that addictive. An eternity later, I eventually was still beaten by the bot. Then I came to a conclusion: this IS a rage game. Reallyyyy?

I mean, GJ haha. I really enjoyed the game, I really think you should make another local multiplayer mode, this would be very very fun to play with friends!

Forest Fighter by Drowzy Unicorn 2018-08-23T22:25:34Z

Lovely art style. I like the gameplay even though there was no sound. That signals a good gameplay  I think the game needs some sound effects to go with the background music and poppy art style. Also the end screen should show my score, either in terms of enemies killed or woods chucked down, something to encourage me play again and improve this stat. Overall, a promising entry with excellent art work!

Doom Tower by Bensbuff 2018-08-16T01:00:29Z

Simple but effective, great work for a first timer. I especially like the color indication for the health, so you have double indication: health bar and its color. And you made it to the Compo as well, Im a first timer too but couldnt make it to the compo :joy:

Bathtub Toys by KMCE 2018-08-27T19:07:27Z

Got 20 points in my best run, other times just died because the army guy fell inside a bunch of obstacles and I cant get him (I would appreciate a boost that keeps me invincible for x seconds towards the end-game though). Music and voice over are great. The floaty effect of the water is very nice, Im actually gonna look at the source project to see how you did that haha. The controls feel pretty responsive and not at all finicky like I expected from a 3D game, kudos for that. The slowing down of the ship feels great and I was able to do refined movement, but I wish the speeding up has some momentum building up too. Now the ship's speed increases to max speed instantly it seems, which doesnt quite match up with how the ship slows down. Some more particle effects could be added to the game, and maybe a global leader board? Great entry, good job!

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-14T05:25:02Z

Very interesting game. I did not expect this kind of complexity from a game made in a game jam. Great job! I agree with a guy posted up there that there is a small problem with the selection indication, and also the range of demons and all. Very promising to be extended after the jam. Keep it up!

grindatron.tv by Donitz 2018-08-15T02:05:38Z

The AI is really annoying, which I guess is the whole point of this haha. I totally digged the game, good job! Not the best control keys, but I can live with that. I guess there was a reason for z instead of space bar. Otherwise space bar would be better

Snorton Man by Dialglex 2018-08-15T01:51:53Z

Hmm I think the movement is a bit too floaty, you only do this to give the impression of outer space. Other than that, I think the game was fun with some element of puzzle. I think the goal was not made very clear, I didn't know what I need to do. It will only get better though, good job on finishing the game!

WearOut by Abhis1Kadian 2018-08-21T08:00:26Z

Hey just played the game and got a very nice looking score xD

24.png

I really like the programmer art of the game, the music was lovely too. I wish I could have done some simple animation like that in my game LMAO. The introduction was very strong in humor, that I built up my expectation for the game. However, the gameplay was too simply and didnt quite match up with the strong introduction you gave. I was basically standing near the spawning point and spamming W until I get a nice looking score LOL. I think you guys have a very good start. Making a game more challenging is always easier to do than making it less challenging. Great job on putting it all together!

End of Time by Naghen 2018-08-15T22:56:48Z

Whoa its very fun, you have a lot of boosts there and the lazer is just AMAZING! I like the particles too. Keep it up!

Overload by Jambav 2018-08-16T03:12:59Z

A simple but polished and complete looking game. I could really play this all day. Great job with the art and color scheme. Later on it becomes quite chaotic, but it is the point of these organizing puzzle games right? I wonder how did you finish the levels during play testing :joy:

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-14T00:51:38Z

@brallex thank you! That means a lot to me! @adroitconceptions I will fix it, thank you for reporting!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-14T01:58:44Z

@adroitconceptions Great feedback! The skip level doesnt register your click on time because I had too little time spare before automatically restarting the level. Everything else you said was just design choice, I guess it comes with more time, and also more time. Wait what? You are the guy writing 12 games in 12 weeks? The game Rewind was yours right? I remember checking out your blog and feeling much inspired by it. Thanks!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-14T06:20:48Z

@mukult Thank you! Im glad you enjoyed it! There are levels that I might can't pass anyway, and it is also important for me that people see everything

@aaranos Yes I understand. That's the difference between programmer art and Unity's particle system haha. The boss level used to be too easy so I tried to make it harder. I guess I went a bit overboard :(

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-14T06:34:20Z

@handle Oh I missed your feedback. Thanks, that is a known bug to me, but I wasnt able to fix on time. The problem is simple, you are on the other side of the edge collider, and cant get back in. Having a hard deadline really pushes the limits..

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-14T13:01:07Z

@frontlinesaint @hdmmy @cristihkj @hammers @dialglex Im glad you guys liked the game. It is still a bit buggy, know I know the importance of extensive play testing.

@hyprgloo thanks to point out, yes I was basically putting all the best thing I could to one game, no matter how they are related to each other haha

@extrone I wasnt happy with the timing too, it still feel unintuitive

@mortus Noted! Poor design choice T_T

@keppu thank you very much for all the feedback! I was really torn with the timing on the menu, kept going back and forth. I didn't think of what you suggested though, but maybe the best option is to display skip button right in the game when player has died some time. That adds more to the troll as well as I could display it with chance, so if you dont skip, you dont know when you can haha. Again, your feedback is very very valuable to me, thanks!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T03:38:45Z

@donitz I realized that people do pass that fairly easily LOL. I may have to learn to accept that haha

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T03:40:18Z

@josehzz Im glad you like it. Any idea how to add more of that? Im a big fan of stanley parable, responding to user's action and try to get in their mind. I also like to add hidden gems, but it does take a lot of time to think about where and when they should appear

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T03:43:07Z

@noa-calice Thanks for the feedback, it is a known problem, I have had suggestions to better solve that. If you think of making a video about UI, like what kind of input to be used (click button, press a key, not doing anything), I will be there!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T03:44:42Z

@anstabo Thanks for letting me know, its a poor design choice. Should have added some color to that, like a bit white on top of the spike

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T03:45:54Z

@pinoza Thanks for the feedback, it is a technical problem, I probably need to add more to the tutorial and change the appearance of the spikes such as color to differentiate them

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T03:47:42Z

@ekilibr Im very glad to hear. Mood is probably the hardest thing to achieve, I did expect to have some moody elements, but definitely not thinking it would get a 5 for mood ever

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T03:52:16Z

@paulie-b Yes. I never made a platformer game before so I will pay attention next time!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T13:37:49Z

@zariel @void-productions @admiralspacekraken thank you!

@tontonpizza yeah intended to be precise jumping, but I learned the hard way that you have a false assumption about the difficuly of game levels as you play it over and over again during testing

@tungunity96 that was a poor design choice, but I learn from it. Thanks for the feedback! Growing from everthing else if very doable, but I will need more time to implement it, possible for an after jam

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T16:18:12Z

@tasty-jose thank you for playing and your feedback! The reason for not using space bar is that you have one hand on the keyboard and one hand on the mouse, then controlling both ASWD/ arrow keys AND space bar with one hand seems impossible. I have yet found a solution for this but I understand you concern, I didn't like jumping with the arrow key as well T_T

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T19:14:45Z

@reax you're right, I could for sure add that. Thanks for the suggestion, and Im glad you liked it!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T19:16:59Z

@purrfexionator yeah its a poor choice of coloring. The space is growing from four bounds, and it grows as you shoot there. It should have been of a different color. Will fix it in the post-jam version, thank you for playing and leaving feedback!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T19:44:18Z

@wrenpirate yes I think the character design could be much much better. I originally wanted to go for a limbo-inspired character but my programmer drawing skill didnt allow that. Maybe I could ask if someone on discord could work out some character design for that. Thanks for the feedback!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-15T19:54:03Z

@outstar Haha that was an intended feature, so that the gun is not over-powered  . Thank you for playing, I love your stream!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T02:26:09Z

@crneumre @flower @chronicbite @leandro-dotta @michael-oliveira Thank you very much for playing! Im glad you enjoyed it!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T02:27:06Z

@eclahn I know right, I like digging a lot, it started out as my prototype and then it became my boss level

1.gif

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T02:31:28Z

@icxon Oh, thanks for the feedback! It was a poor design choice. I just wanted everything to be black. I have seen people in streams quitting at level 2 so I appreciate your walkthrough a lot!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T02:42:53Z

@redhermit Thank you! Destructible terrain was the top of my list to do so Im very happy to have something that gives me an excuse to do it.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T03:58:21Z

@monyandere I didn't like not to jump with space bar too, but if I let you jump with the space bar, navigate with arrow keys and shoot with the mouse, it would be even more chaotic. Let me know if you have a suggestion for the input layout, thank you for the encouragement!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T11:34:37Z

@webthingee haha Im glad you like it. Yea level design is not an easy thing, Idk if it helps but you should draw a curve from the beginning to the end, put on it several points where you have major upgrades, and make sure the mechanic you used is always utilized after it is introduced. One critical thing is that like in level 3 I introduced the matter gun, and it could be confusing to use at first, so it is very very very important that players can try the new mechanic in a safe environment where they are not distracted by other factors of the game - thats why that level does not have any spikes whatsoever. Hope that helps you a bit!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T12:04:45Z

@akros thank you! that's a pretty arbitrary design choice. I will pay attention to those details as how the whole game comes together next time!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T13:24:59Z

@dk5000p thank you for playing! I realized it was a bit too difficult too.. Noted on the spike thingy, I originally thought players should die as soon as they touch the spike, maybe thats a bit overpunishing..

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T15:07:15Z

@thegunmaster thank you for playing, I never made platformer before so I learn things on the way. No I know there are tricks to platformer movement that if you dont have it, it feels lacking, like the control of jump's height when holding the button, or some momentum before moving. Thanks for the feedback!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T16:21:51Z

@corbak thanks for giving it a try, glad you liked it!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T17:44:52Z

@thibaultar Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. It is my type of humor, but I see that it gets on the way of the game a bit too much, not very immersive.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T18:46:57Z

@historymaker118 thanks a lot for your feedback, that means a lot to me!

@jamesolivermusic Im glad you find it helpful, it was helpful for me too. One of the first thing I added to the game. I think all the games in game jams should have that button

@jimdarkwind thank you Jim, I am all for interactive tutorials. I have seen some other entries this LD with great tutorials as well. Idk about you but Im the kind of player who skips totally the tutorial if possible haha

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T21:12:07Z

@treizive thank you for playing the game! Im glad you liked it. I wanted to have a more moody character to match that, so it has more visible Ori/limbo-like vibe. That did not make it but here is my clumsy design haha

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T22:51:16Z

@rhewid @veilastrum thank you guys for giving my game a try! I appreciate it!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T23:13:00Z

@chicomcastro thank you for your kind words, I really didnt expect that at all. I think everyone just tried their best to get a good game, and most games turned out quite well. I think yours also has a very solid foundation for a complete game too. Anyway, thanks for playing my game, good luck with the jam and I hope you get enough ratings!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T06:38:05Z

@alex-lutay thank you Alex! I quickly realized that watching people playing it on the streams too, many quit at level 2, and I doubt many of my ratings are based on the game up to that level, which is not everything I wanted to showcase. It really was a great learning experience

@serious07 thank you for giving it a try! xD

@matank Im very sorry that you experienced that. If you think of playing again, here is the cheat button to pass the level automatically: just press K xD. Thank you very much for playing the game!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T09:56:50Z

@chris-coe I know exactly why, I didnt have the outer bound for the growing thingy so once you are inside, you fall down under. Could put a quick patch to put a collider box at the ground level, thank you for reporting. Im glad you played all the way through, cheater

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T10:01:35Z

@bastian Thank you for the feedback, I was afraid it would annoy players so I want them to disappear quickly. I get you, will put a trigger box at some point to clear out the text in a post-jam version. Thank you for playing!!

@yayapipi thank you very much! I tried my best, I was very satisfied with the camera movement as well. Glad you have gone far enough to get the gun xD

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T10:32:18Z

@king-kujito I got a lot of similar feedback too, I agree a more animated character would fit it better. I tried to work around with animated eyes, but he sure is still heavy and static. Thank you for playing all the way through, why is everyone beating the unbeatable level :joy: :joy:

@yayapipi hahaha I made the right choice then :joy:

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T10:47:18Z

@king-kujito OMG that is sooooo goood, I for sure would take note, that game looks AWESOME!! Only if I have seen that before. I never made platformer and I also havent made many games, but Ive learnt a lot from this LD. Thank you very much for the link!!! I appreciate that a lot!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T14:06:29Z

@timbelion @devilzinn Thank you guys for playing the game!

@gaming-night I appreciate it. I was trying to go for a similar kind of humor to your game, but it definitely was not as epic haha

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T16:25:51Z

@projectmakers Thank you buddy. I miss her LD streams though, it was really fun there. I guess next LD? haha. Thanks for leaving a feedback! <3

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T17:42:56Z

Thank you @grahhhhhhhhh Im just a programmer so I want to play by my strength. The case you mentioned happened to a lot of people as well. I will need to do something about that T_T. Thanks for your words of encouragement!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-17T23:49:05Z

@kapiteinkoekwous thank you very much for playing it on the stream, the idea is that the space is closing on, so the gun is shooting only to the space, not the matter. Its sort of like a filter on top of everything. My poor use of color did not highlight this well. Anyway, thanks for playing and leaving a feedback!

@neuralcoder noted, I know it was not handy too but didn't have time to implement a proper tool tip system. Thank you for playing and leaving feedback, I will fix that in the post-jam version.

@n-feofentov yes I LOVE destruction! glad you enjoy destroying stuffs too

@pickens-inc watching you play on the stream was everything, thank you again for playing and all the support! I will try to keep it up and expanding!

@designernap haha yeah I agree with that, assuming that you measure the difficulty by the number of deaths. I wanted to encourage people to get to the end so things start to be less difficult after introducing the second mechanic. I really appreciate the feedback and will try to balance between the levels. Thank you for playing!

@ryusui Hmm I don't know which scrolling you mean because I didn't have any scrolling in the game. I get some people reported about the text being cut off too, I wonder if you were playing not in full screen? because WebGL does not show all the screen and cut off the border. Also you don't have to fire it as fast as possible actually, the space may look scary closing in but you will never die if you fire your way out, don't need to clean everything on the screen (impossible anyway). I guess you're not a fan of destruction xD. But honestly I really appreciate you playing that far, many quit even before they have the gun T_T.

@stroe-andrew Im glad you like the game and leave a feedback. It means a lot to me!

@honey I totally understand - now. When I was developing I thought people would use that, but when I watch the stream I learned the exact lesson you said. People don't use that. I get a mixture of feedback about the difficult curve too, I guess it's very much based on personal skill and taste. But it was difficult even for me too. Will try to balance the difficulty curve, thank you very much for your feedback!

@realmar whow thank you for the support man. I didnt think it would be something potential, just a LD entry. I will try to expand it post-jam, depending on how much work it needs :joy: thanks again for playing, much appreciated!!

@bhavesh-tiwari thank you for the support! Connecting to players is exactly what I wanted to do. Im glad you got the spirit. Not many people did :joy:

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-18T02:07:08Z

@superqgs Yayyyy thanks for the compliment! That means a lot to me!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-18T11:38:30Z

@randomphantom Thanks for the feedback, I got that complaint a lot too, will definitely tweak that in the post-jam version. Im glad you enjoyed the game! Yeah marching squares is amazing, I wish I had time to optimize the algorithm so I could have a smaller grid size to make everything less spiky..

@shakedimus Oh thanks for the feedback, I got people reporting about memory overflow too but I havent been able to recreate it. May I ask how long did you play in the last level before getting the memory out of bounds error? Anyway Im very pleased that you like the game, yes the antimatter gun creates almost a sort of reversed difficult curve, I didnt notice until people leave feedback. Will definitely need to find a way to make it more difficult even when you can reclaim space.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-18T13:11:13Z

@shakedimus thanks, yeah there is an option is WebGL export that specify the amount of memory allocated for the app. Currently its 256MB, and if it exceed that, I think it is a bug that I didnt clean some stuffs. Thanks for more details about the bug, you're the best!

@demn Not everyone appreciate it, the mechanic may appear boring for some people. Thanks for leaving some encouragement! It means a lot to me.

@amba Thank you! I really appreciate your encouragement! Its not everyone's taste, and the fact that you get lost in space seems very finicky for people. It still needs a lot of refinement but again, I appreciate your support!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-18T13:59:09Z

@dumivid Hey thanks for leaving a feedback I appreciate it a lot. I did try as hard as possible for the game, it still needs a lot a lot of refinement. What does GD stand for?

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-18T17:19:13Z

@dumivid haha, I see. I do watch a lot of GDC talks and all the failure workshops so the knowledge might come from there, but Im relatively new to GD. Nice to know!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-19T07:57:05Z

@chicodelosmates @smogen Thank you for playing the game. Im glad you enjoyed it.

@michael-wingfield Thanks Mike "The educator" haha. I really like the sound effects in your game, would definitely play with it in my next entry. Thanks for the post on LD feed too!

@anubhav-kashyap Ahh knowledge and skill accumulate very fast, you will only get better. I think for beginners (Im also a beginner), it is very important to do clones of other games so you learn much more about level design, game balance and all. Would love to see you in the next LD, keep it up!

@tomg Yes I got the same report from others too. I think there is a memory overflow somewhere that I thought I have fixed but apparently not. Thanks for playing the game, I was not inspired by super meat boy at all but it seems to turn out that way :joy: Again, thanks for reporting the bug!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-19T12:22:17Z

@megalink Although it looks scary as the space coming at you, it doesnt really kill you as long as you keep firing at it xD. Thank you for playing till the very end, I appreciate your positive feedback very much!

@geckoo1337 Thanks for the compliment, the game still needs a lot of refinement. Im glad you gave it a play and liked it, very appreciate your support!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-19T13:13:56Z

@dyzzyd Thanks for playing and leaving positive feedback. That means a lot to me!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-19T18:34:57Z

@steffanie Hey thanks for playing and leaving a positive feedback, it means a lot to me!

@kiirohanabi Yes, that is a poor choice, I really don't know why I did that, no one wants to go back to main menu from there. I saw on streams many times people mistakenly clicked the main menu button. Thanks for playing all the way through and leaving a feedback!

@mza Thank you, it was the first thing I implemented because I myself can't pass some levels until I saw people did it on the streams. In that level you're supposed to open the chest on top of that black circle, the you would get the second mechanic upgrade, that's when the real fun comes in hehe. Thank you very much for playing!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-19T21:49:26Z

@biebras Hey thanks for playing and leaving a feedback. Im glad you find that easy. I already got **A LOT** of complaints about the difficulty of my game (you can scroll back, many quit the game at level 2 on the streams I watch too), and you said it was easy. Then you must be very good at platformer games. Compared to that, if you think your game is "a bit difficult", it probably is too difficult because not everyone is good at platformers T_T.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-20T06:59:17Z

@ethan-kennerly yes it is among the top things to fix. Thank you for playing and leaving a feedback. It means a lot to me.

@cassio-eduardo I understand, I needed something to indicate that I can now manipulate environment, "gun" was a choice, but not a good choice. Thank you for playing and leaving a feedback, I appreciate it!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-20T13:19:25Z

@axavian hey thank you for playing and leaving support! The game still needs a lot of refinement, I don't know if I can/want to extend it but I am for sure going to extend some features in it, such as the dialogue system (I really want to create a system that I can control, spawning not only in the first time players encounter it but also after a specific amount of encounters - you can see in the death message: "You have died exactly 20 times" for example). My dream game is one that changes as players progress in the game. Anyway, I am very happy with the camera work in this game and will for sure write a blog or two about it. Regarding the source code, I used to have it up here, but then I didn't think anyone really used that so I took that down LOL. I will put it back up, but be aware that my code is VERY unorganized (first entry problem) and I also have delegate events here and there that makes it even more confusing to read T_T.

PS. I highly recommend going to some compo games and get the source code to learn from them too. Some recommendation (I've got a bunch too): Mass Coalsce (also a very polished game), Crushed, EventfulHorizon, and S. These are all very good Unity games that have the source code released.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-20T13:42:20Z

@axavian no problem. Source code is up and can be downloaded. Just ask if you find something confusing.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-20T19:09:06Z

@nalah Thanks for reporting the bug, and for playing all the way through as I can see in your screenshot hehe. Yes it is a known bug and I havent been able to find it. I will try to dig deeper and fix it. Your support means a lot to me, thanks!!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-22T09:54:51Z

@mapedorr hey thanks for the feedback, it was very accurate to what I went for, there is nothing to the graphics really, just some primitive shapes and some grass. Humor was also too try-hard, I didnt have an anchor to what is humor in games until now that I see real humorous games haha. Also thanks for mentioning Mark Brown, I just checked out his youtube channel and there are amazing stuffs there, much appreciated!

@lexyvil thank you for playing long enough to get the gun and leaving a feedback. That means a lot to me!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-26T21:34:27Z

@joror Hey thanks for not quitting the game halfway through hehe. All of your feedback are correct and very honest, I appreciate that! - The game is not at all optimized so the frame rate sometimes drops to 20, Im surprised I didn't get that complaints before maybe because people were too nice to point it out. - Yes, I could have ditched completely the death screen, but I needed somewhere to put the skip level button, hence that menu - I actually have that implemented, you can only click after 1 death, but the disabled animation was not very visible.

I stil havent figured out the best solution of where and how to show the skip level button, I would love to hear your thoughts if you have some ideas. Otherwise, I will try to come up with a better solution in my next LD. Again, thanks for your criticism and suggestions!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-27T12:10:37Z

@velocity7 haha I pushed it a bit, never did destructible terrain before but I learnt it during the jam. Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-29T21:26:38Z

@roman-petrov Im glad you played long enough to see the game mechanics, many people quit despite having the skip level button. It was handy for me during the development as well!

Also thanks for leaving a feedback, I see that you rated many games but didnt receive much back T_T. On your game now, good luck!!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-31T03:25:13Z

@occultone Finally some great suggestions!! I have been waiting for these forever! Thank you very much!! I never thought a bad designed UI could severely affect a game until this LD. I agree, the skip button could be on the game screen and the main menu button could be a back arrow like someone (maybe you) suggested in the stream. Regarding the indication of where the gun is pointing to, the shooting is in fact a line renderer, your suggestion is actually a GREAT IDEA! I will surely add that.

Gosh, it means a lot to see some constructive feedback. Thank you very much Occultone!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-31T22:56:46Z

@team-yarn yeah the web build is very laggy I don't know why. I saw that on another stream too. Thanks for the feedback, I will disable the web build for now so people play the game with the windows build T_T. Feel free to give it another go, the windows build is much more stable and higher in performance.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-09-04T18:41:46Z

@nervous-composers thanks for playing and leaving a feedback. There is a web build but it has some performance issue so I took it off the page, thinking that nobody would play the game near the end of the rating time. Regarding the text cut off issue, I get some similar feedback too, may I ask if the text get cut off by the screen border or by the growing thingy?

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-09-04T19:32:21Z

@nervous-composers ahhhhhhh I seeeeeee.. That helps a lot!! I didnt design the game for all resolutions, and it was specifically for 1366x768 so I understand why it happened now. Thanks a lot!

Crumble by anstabo 2018-08-15T02:24:55Z

Very chaotic and fun game, I enjoyed it a lot. The movement of the ball is very satisfying. I don't know how you implemented the chaotic scene, like putting forces to the objects at random time or something, but it works very very well. Great work!

ROoS by Stephen Coley 2018-08-14T17:32:00Z

Fast paced, minimalistic platformer with programmer art, I feel you man, I went for these keywords for my game as well. Excellent play on the theme, literally running out of SPACE. The music fits the game too, I enjoyed it a lot. Great job!

Changing spaces by Shakedimus 2018-08-17T09:44:31Z

A fun game to play with friends, except that I don't have any. Playing alone feels very difficult, and you don't really know where the bullets are from so there is no way players could learn to be better at the game at the moment. I suggest having some guns, or at least some indicators on the sides of the arena moving and shooting from that point so players know in advance where the bullets will pass by. The shooting direction ASWD being totally separated from the movement with arrow keys is bit strange, I think there might be a reason behind it that I dont really get. Also I wonder how would you map this to 2 players mode? one with ASWD and one with arrow keys, so how do they shoot?

Again, not saying its not a fun game, Im just trying to give a helpful feedback rather than *hey I like the game its really fun*

Changing spaces by Shakedimus 2018-08-17T12:26:55Z

@shakedimus okay so I got your point wrong, I saw the picture that your girl friend and her friend are playing so I thought it supports local multiplayer. Regarding the bullets, I did not know it was my own bullet and thought it was bullet from some other dark entities on the edge of the arena shooting at me haha. I completely misunderstood the concept. Maybe a short level without the obstacles on the screen so player can be introduced with that mechanic. Now that I get it, it seems very fun. I will replay and rate it again xD

Yes it definitely makes sense now, I got 189 points now. Not high but decent I guess xD

WASH UR BALLZ by SteamPunkProgrammer 2018-08-15T03:24:18Z

Good things first:

-> Simple mechanic, no need for tutorial

-> Control does not change direction as the ball roll, always up arrow = going forward

-> Trail of the ball, to make it look satisfying

-> Don't die when reaching the edge of the arena

-> Cool take on the theme: running out of clean space

Questionable things:

-> Too much momentum imo: this leads to unresponsive control, like if I were to go left and then when I change direction to the right, it takes one sec or so to change direction. Maybe it's just for my taste.

-> Camera work can improve a lot, especially when the ball is going through a crowded area. When the camera is pulled close to the ball, you basically lost awareness of the surrounding area. Also zooming in and out gives me a bit motion sickness

5b7398491b65e606485930.gif

-> The shadow of the big balls have the same color as the clean floor, giving false observation that the shadow is clean.

10.png

Overall, a pretty fun game. It also scores humour for me as the game is making fun of my small ball.

WASH UR BALLZ by SteamPunkProgrammer 2018-08-15T16:41:54Z

@cranestyle I think you shouldn't remove the collider on the camera, clipping through the bigger balls would lose sight of line to the character, which I think you know is never desirable. I came across a very good GDC talk about camera work called "50 Game Camera Mistakes" that your programmer might have already seen, but it has some very neat solution for that. I think you can turn the camera angle to a worm view and maybe make your player transparent. Or yeah, transparent big ball when camera passes through them works too. Im just a fan of camera work in game so as soon as I see a game that has a dynamic camera, Im hyped

Blueberry Adventure by aaron horrar 2018-08-14T04:45:27Z

Challenging enough not to be too easy, but not too difficult that needed a skip level button. You did some great job with balancing in the game. I love the level and characters design, very pretty and clever. The juicer sometimes isnt really helpful but rather a sabotage, but I guess its up to the player to decide to use it or not. Love the use of indication to show the hit limit. Just a small side comment is that the increase of water level in early levels are not so apparent, maybe you can make sound or change its color to indicate that as well. I remember one level did a good job in maintaining the awareness of players that water is increasing. Overall, a very very enjoyable game for me. Thanks for making it! :D

Claustrophobic Typist by Willyb321 2018-08-19T09:35:12Z

I saw your post on LD feed and had to try that right away, the audio distortion when the walls close up is such a nice touch, I wonder how you did it though, is it a change in pitch or a low bass filter? Anyhow, got 104 words only, Im not a fast typer haha. Great job with the game, I had a lot of fun.

Geometry Merge by M8rix 2018-08-16T19:47:39Z

Pretty solid on the theme, I like the mechanic. A very fun game, I can play this all day really

Out Of Mind by Biebras 2018-08-19T13:41:57Z

First off, I agree with axavian. I also agree with everyone else, the jump is too low, I sadly cannot pass the tutorial part. I love the tutorials, but I think they should be introduced in a safe environment, here the environment is a bit punishing. Besides all that, I love the graphics, I also went for the minimalistic style as well so Im all for it. I think you can tweak the height of the jump and put it in an update log, like version 1.1 updates jumps' height, and I dont think people would mind that at all. Let me know if you do that so I can get back and try to see more of the game. It does look very promising, GJ!

Out Of Mind by Biebras 2018-08-19T19:14:03Z

@nnnikki not my entry but I got curious at your comment. Do you mean LIVE in a way that you die and the game restarts? I mean what else can be done if you fall off a platform? The only other solution I can think of that is more forgiving is rewinding time..

EDIT: I havent passed the tutorial level at the time I left that comment, now that I passed the tutorial, I get you. LIVES should not be there..

Out Of Mind by Biebras 2018-08-19T21:33:37Z

@biebras hey so the tutorial is now easier right? I could try it again

Edit: Figure out that you havent changed the tutorial, but I somehow magically passed the tutorial haha. However, thats also as far as I could get. I die constantly at the beginning of the next level. RAGEEEE

Running Out Of Space by AdmiralSpaceKraken 2018-08-15T13:24:40Z

A nice little fun game, good job on completing it. I especially like the music, very simple but effective. I gave up making music in my game because I cant come up with something that is simple yet effective like yours. In term of improvement, I think the movement has too much momentum for my taste, leading to unresponsive feedback: the character doesnt move right when I press the button but takes some time to accelerate. Also you should detect whenever the character gets stuck and reset the level so player doesnt have to wait to be killed, like here:

12.png

Another way to fix this is to have the box spawner less random, because now it creates a lot of spikes and you cant really get through them

Smart Gecko by Zariel 2018-08-14T22:15:34Z

9.png

found a bug if I move too fast it skips a box. Anyway I think its a simple puzzle game and it fits the theme in a way that is quite expected. Anyhow, as much as I enjoyed the game, I dont think you benefit much from making a top down 3D game, 2D might even work better, also you save some performance as well. Did you model all the animals? they look good actually, like the bugs look delicious! Good work!

King of Bjorp by Colin Doody 2018-08-16T18:58:16Z

I dont have friends so I play alone, the AI was not bad at all, they don't seem to just randomly run off the edge, and because Im a terrible gamer, the AI keep winning haha. Maybe you can add a level of AI intelligence so I could experience the win for once LMAO. Anyhow, a great coop game, I might get back to this when I make some new friends after this LD

Crate Typist by Luca1152 2018-08-14T21:21:38Z

I wasn't able to play for too long, game keeps crashing if typing goes too fast, nice theme mixing tower defense with typing.

Samuel's Escape by PacoTheLegend 2018-08-15T22:59:24Z

Nice little platformer, I like your design a lot so graphics will score high for me, the character looks like he has some characteristic to him hehe. You said its your first jam and you didnt want to do something inventive, I think what you did is pretty good for a start, quite a solid entry. Good job!

Space Run by mitsu.artemius 2018-08-16T04:28:19Z

Very juicy jet packing animation, and the game is designed to slowly teach me how the control works too, I like it. A very cool platformer game with awesome art work and animations (jet packing, shooting). Very well done!

Running out of RAM - an 80s BASIC programming simulator for C64 by hamrathdoesldjam 2018-08-17T21:04:16Z

Hey it took me a while to get the program up and running, but then it brings me right back in the 80s, no I wasnt born, the 90s (I was technically 5 years old but that counts). Anyway, really like the way you execute the theme, it was definitely refreshing to play amongst all the LD entries this time. I don't think I earned any money while I was playing, I honestly couldnt earn anything and spent thousands of dollars. I get what youre implying there :joy: Great work!!

Space Collapse by Steffanie 2018-08-19T18:55:56Z

Hey I just played the game and I got drifted so far away I cant even see myself haha. Im somewhere near the red circle at the bottom. Maybe the could be a boundary to where I cant drift away even further? Because getting back is very difficult, and when the camera is zoomed out too much I really cant even see where Im at to go back.

23.png

Another problem was the jitter at the score placeholder, though it's very minor, it's a little bit distracting. Just increase the size of the red rings a bit so the is no overlap with the white cylinder.

The texts sometimes register "read" with the space bar, sometimes with the mouse click, so that could be cohesive by just using one input as well.

Those are just some minor details that I think you could quickly patch to make the whole experience better. Leaving all of that aside, I think the game was pretty fun. I do know, very clearly, what my goal is and how to do it. GJ!

High Tide [html5] by SuperQGS 2018-08-18T01:16:24Z

Pretty solid for a first LD entry. Good job (some love from Pilorekt stream  )

Dodghell by ChicoDeLosMates 2018-08-18T19:58:58Z

Haha the game is pretty fun. The arena is quite small so I didnt have a lot of room to move. Only get to level 3. If you have a bigger arena, Im pretty sure I could survive that for much longer. Anyhow, great entry, good job!!

Boxed by Devio 2018-08-16T20:43:24Z

Hey I really like the mechanic, everything feels very smooth, just that the graphics isnt very polished, but thats the only problem I have with the game. You also dont have to get very close to the box to get it. Not a bad entry, I look forward to seeing the post-jam version xD

Roomy's Party by Lexyvil 2018-08-22T10:09:32Z

Haha very funny game. I get only 3xx points so not enough to brag about it here. I love the touch of humor in this, it really worked. It takes a while for me to realizes the guests are going in straight vertical/horizontal lines, but even when I found out its still hard to avoid them. Overall, this game implements a simple idea but does it in a very clean and effective way. I like that the game is very challenging but not too punishing (I don't die the moment you get off screen so there is still a strong will to get back). Good job!

Slime Running. by SadDayStudio 2018-08-16T15:57:54Z

Can only get 6 rooms, but I think because the speed of the slime is already very fast, the progress of the game becoming more difficult is less visible. If you started out with the slime going a bit slower then faster plus more slime seeds, that would be awesome. Just my 2 cents though, I understand it would take away the fast faced element of the game so it might not be worth it. I enjoyed it a lot, great job!

Slime Running. by SadDayStudio 2018-08-30T13:30:05Z

Hey saw your post in LD feed and gave it another try (I think its the updated version no?), but now I can only get through 3 rooms haha. I think the game would be much more addictive if you let players suffer some amount of hit, e.g. 3 hearts or something and possibly on each map you have an item that increase one heart. That would not only make the game more forgiving to mistakes but also encourage players to be more risky. Just my 2 cents.

Uninstall by Deadeyejoe02 2018-08-19T07:32:26Z

Hey I love the vibe of the game. Very fun to play and the humor is a nice touch.

10.gif

I got stuck here, don't know if it's a bug or something but I have seen your game on some streams so I rated based on that, a very solid entry. GJ!

InkCleaner by neuralcoder 2018-08-18T18:02:13Z

Hey I got 259 points hehe. I actually think the speed was alright, the ink spawns fast but it doesnt spread out that much so that is a good call. It took me several tries to realize that I should start cleaning corner by corner, and then the game turns out to be very fun. I think what you shoudl definitely add is an indication to how far can I clean the ink when pressing space bar. Also you can add some pace to the game, like the ink spawns faster but the recharge is also faster for example, so that the game doesnt feel repetitive in mid- and late- game. Good job!

Stuck! by chkkll 2018-08-18T20:03:44Z

Whow, adorable design, soothing music, lovely atmosphere. I really enjoy the feeling of inching over to the door and making it there right on time! I wish there was something more to the level as the level progresses, like there are kids or old people on the train, so it doesnt get too repetitive in mid-game. Otherwise, a very solid entry. Great work!!

I like games with simple controls like this and still has complexity. Such a pity my computer cant handle the blood bursting out of zombies and always crashes. I didnt go very deep in the game because of that, but based on what I saw, it seems to be a fun and promising game.

I like that the character is quick, though there is a problem with the character facing the cursor and flip his animation in the wrong way, I think that could be quickly improved. Anyhow, I think it is a fun game.

The Unicorn Shelter by senokos 2018-08-15T18:17:12Z

I have the unicorn's happiness decreased to zero and it died haha. This is not really a text adventure, more like a game with text output instead of visual output. I see some humor in there too. I think it would be more engaging to have some drawing of the unicorn with respect to her happiness  . Good job putting it all together!

Backpack Quest by polyducks 2018-08-23T21:47:58Z

Hahahahaha this is such a fun game, I literally stared at the key hahah. I really like both the idea and the execution of the game. Some music would be great, otherwise I think the UI fits the vibe of the game. I did feel like my decision has some weight to the story rather than following a scripted visual novel, though I think it pretty much was. That is hands down one of the best game of this kind I played in this LD. Well done!

PS. I couldnt help myself but try to find the best solution. Ended up getting 335 points, is that the highest score? Idk. Im sure having global leader board for this game would do wonder!!

OUT by joompoof 2018-08-14T03:40:23Z

This is the first game that I actually would score the mood high, probably because everything was cohesively dark and moody. I have played a bunch but none really leave any impression of the moodiness, but this one sure does. I like the art work. The platforming is very tight-timing. I totally digged the game, if the retry could be automatically pressed so I dont have to click it everytime, that would be even more addictive haha

Brownie Cove Cancelled by Sand-Gardeners 2018-12-04T12:51:29Z

I don't quite get what Im supposed to do in the game so I mostly wandered around slowly and enjoyed the calmly chaotic atmosphere in the game. Pressing E doesn't seem to work for me, so I lost patience after a while so I have not seen everything in the game. But what I've seen so far is oddly zen-like :D.

Gnome Man's Sky by Tim Ruswick 2018-12-04T15:09:02Z

This game is SOO complex that even after many tries I still discover new knowledge about how the game works. I wish there was a tutorial or a detailed help list in this submission page to introduce all the mechanics. For example, I still now don't know how to feed the gnomes and I keep losing after about 9-10 days. And like some other people commenting before me, I also accidentally salvage my farm too, mostly because it wasn't explained. The fact that there are resources that I have never discovered tells that I have missed out a lot in the game, but I'm pleasantly amazed with what I have seen, given that you built this in 3 days. It really is a great game, could make into a nice board game actually. Congratulations!

Vincent's Sacrifice by Honest Dan 2018-12-05T08:53:51Z

This game is visually beautiful, and I also dig the story of the game, really wanted to see the bunny reunite with his parents at the end. Unfortunately, the game is a bit difficult and I had little patience so I didn't manage to see the ending. Regardless, I think the game really sells the idea of continuing at a cost and the intro really hooks players to the narrative so I think you accomplished the main goal here. On the flip side, there are various things that I think could improve this game. - Feedback on how much damage I dealt and how much HP the monsters have left. The attack doesnt feel rewarding without them. - Click to finish the sentence. This does not make it skippable, just to display the sentence faster. It feels dragged out without this, and the effect is really shown when the player die and I have to watch the same talking happen, slowly. - Some people commented earlier about taking damage right after respawn and I was there too. My suggestion is either having 1-2s of immunity after respawned or respawn at a safer location.

This is an ambitious entry and I'm happy for you guys that you made it on time. Big congrats and good luck with the results!
