It's pretty fun and intuitive!
if i can see how much money the next things i am going to take,it will be much better ,backpack is a good idea~~
@joker-v But that's like... That's basically the core gameplay mechanic. The whole point of not knowing the value before you take it is you have to weigh the risk of throwing out an item with a known value to appraise a new one. Do I toss out a 390 gp statuette in the hopes that this one if worth 400-500gp? If that wasn't there, there would be no challenge at all since you'd just immediately throw away everything bad and only take the good items.
Great graphics and the audio really helps you get into the game.
Neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/M4_JaetxhkY
Super fun game, and I like that youre not going too big so the game fully focuses on the inventory space mechanic. Great take on the theme, I like it! Good luck with the jam!
Thank you for sharing your game with me. I played it on my stream tonight at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames
I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.
You can hear my comments in the archive at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298329090
@saoi-games Showing the minimum and maximum range of each item would have been a *great* idea. Without that info shown, the player has no idea that money bags are worth 100-260, two-square items are worth 200-500 (EDIT: Yikes, minimum value of Statue is 150. I missed that. Maaaaybe I should have bumped up the max value of a statue to make it really a wildcard or something...), and shields are worth 400-990. I really appreciated that you recognized the "risk vs reward" aspect of playing an item. Though maybe I could have made that more clear with something like "??" text on the item when it's in the NEXT box... Hmm. Anyway! I really enjoyed getting to watch someone else play the game. Unfortunately, very few friends of mine were available for play-testing. BUT! This gives me great advice to keep in mind for future projects. Thanks! Enjoyed it!
@nam-nguyen Thanks a lot for the feedback! I made a very deliberate, conscious decision to keep my scope small this time, after having run out of time in LD41 and delivering a noticeably incomplete product.
@jupiter-hadley Thanks so much Jupiter! Always so fun to see and hear your video feedback! This time I even made my game the perfect length for it <3
@EatingAlrichFreeloaders1996 Thanks a bunch! Glad you liked it! Keeping the controls simple probably paid off.
@AwiX Thanks for the feedback! The graphics were honestly the most tedious, frustrating part of this whole experience, so even hearing one person give compliments on that feels *really* good, ha ha ha. :) I loved how the audio turned out, too. I wanted it to feel like a chilled-out, low pressure experience, despite the time limit.
Haha I love how such a simple game can be so fun. Reminds me of the constant loot dilemma in Diablo :P
@nathanhoad Thanks! Definitely inspired partly by that. And partly by the concept of hoarders. This seemed like a good approach to take though.
Haha funny game. I really like the simple mechanic and making the controls so logical you don't even need to tell them to us. I think it's a very nice idea but for it to be a full game it would need something more. Overall nice idea, well executed!
Awesome game. I was pleasantly suprised with the overall mood of the game. Hope you develop a post jam version for this!
@zicboy @shakedimus Thanks a lot for the feedback. To expand it, I'd probably want more items for sure. Maybe some bigger ones that take up three tiles. If I expanded on the item types, I"d probably then have to examine the size of the playing field. 5x5 seems just right for the time limit and types of items I have now, but maybe 6x6 would be better if there's more objects.
I was happy to keep the controls simple. I play a lot of games here where I forget the controls and miss out on some vital part of the gameplay, haha. Glad to avoid that.
Really fun, it could be better if I could have a clue of the score the thing in the next box is gonna give me, like if it is really low maybe add a reddish tint :yum:
@yorisfresh Yeah that's an idea I thought about yesterday. Pale green/cyan for like a top 10% value, red for bottom 10%. Something like that. Otherwise it probably takes a few playthroughs to get a feel for the system!
@chris-coe I think this would make a a great mobile game if all the features get added
@yorisfresh Thanks, I agree! I may have to look into how to actually go about doing that. I'd probably have to swap to Unity or something, but with a game this simple, honestly that shouldn't be that hard.
This is pretty fun, and the music is great! Great job.
Heh. Fun experience! I made a Letsplay of this, hope you don't mind. I'f you want to see my reaction to this, check out my channel : ) I'll upload it in part 5 of the LD42 series https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG--XwkRpPBAHBinS7hsRQg?view_as=subscriber
@rik-thunder Got around to watching. Thanks a lot! I love seeing how others play my games. Gives me insight on what's intuitive and what isn't as much, where people struggle, etc. I feel like by now I have a great idea of where the improvements need to go, so that's cool. Anyway! Thanks a bunch, it was a fun watch. :)
@goudagames Thanks for playing! I was happy to keep it short, simple, and fun.
Finally caught up to here in my queue of rating and comments! I did enjoy the guessing mechanic of trying to weigh the worth of the stuff in your bag. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:59 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
