UNTIL I RUN OUT OF SPACE by xk_the_name 2018-08-25T22:59:28Z
Very nice relaxing little story game, the atmosphere is great and I loved the story you create as you play. Good job.

I like the idea, but judging from the original (not the post-jam version) the controls are very finicky. I think the machines get destroyed a bit too easily, I lost early because the robot destroyed all my missile factories.
This game looks really good, you should definitely add a screenshot to the game post so people are more attracted to the game. It's a lot of fun but freezes randomly for me.
Thank you all for the great feedback! Yeah, I really wanted to do music this time (I usually don't have time) but I simply spent to much time on the graphics and gameplay to have the time to add it.
@kruemelkeksfan @dimesto52 Yeah, I'm aware of the lag when the population gets big, I just didn't really have time to do something about it sadly :/ something to think about next time!
@mowztouch I'm glad you liked it! 1,538 pop is not bad, and I'm glad you find it innovative and somewhat balanced.
@rongo-matane The priests are actually pretty poorly explained (didn't have time to implement a good way to explain it) but they are basically the end-game way of dealing with pop. They generate 4 times the amount of faith as a normal population and does not count towards the population count. I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Yeah, the FPS drop at large populations is definitely the biggest issue I have with the game.
@erikiene Thank you! I'm glad you feel like there are no negatives, but I'm sure if you dig a bit you'll find some ;). It's awesome that you like this game that much though! Thank you!
Thanks to all of you for the feedback! I did not expect such great responses from this, I'm glad you all like it!
@merpader yeah changing the font just wasn't a priority in this case, if it wasn't for the time restriction I would've used a more fitting font.
@martintristan Thank you very much!
@greenboxgames Thank you! I do agree that some relaxing soundtrack would've been nice, but I was really pressed for time towards the end, so I wasn't able to create a good enough loop.
@bbapps thank you for the very kind words! Yeah, the world generation can mess it up sometimes, but hey, it's random so you can just restart ;).
@roman-petrov Thank you very much for the feedback! I made the decision to start the game paused so the player doesn't feel stressed in the beginning, but I obviously didn't make that clear enough :). I'm glad you like the balance, I'm also very happy with it. Sound and music could definitely be improved, but time got in the way.
@benblack321 Thank you for the wonderful words! I'm glad you liked it.
This is a really cool idea, and I absolutely love the art style, especially the destruction effect. I did feel like the controls where a bit unresponsive during hectic situations with a bunch of keypresses, but nothing too serious. I also felt that it was a bit difficult to keep track of the player due to the trail behind it and the bullets constantly coming out of the front along with the screen shake. Knowing exactly which tile I was on was a bit difficult to tell.
Great job, especially considering you only had one day!
Challenging, and I like the art. Some kind of soundtrack would've been a nice addition. I found the wall jumping to be a bit finicky. Otherwise great job!
Very nice to play, and quite fun! Took me a while to figure out I could double jump, got a lot easier when I did. Solid entry!
Simple but lots of fun. Loved the sound effects and voice acting! My only problem was the ` key since it's in a different location on my keyboard, but aside from that, it was great!
Very cool concept, a bit to hard for the uninitiated though, at least in my opinion. The controls feel OK, but the walljumping could be a bit better. Didn't get the bouncing on barrels thing. Music is a bit loud.
This is very well made, and I gets really hectic, lots of fun! Love the art style and the game feels very polished for a jam game. Had a blast!
Simple and fun game, some smaller annoyances though, mostly things mentioned by other. Having the user switch to mouse to try again is not that great, maybe a key such as X or Z should be bound to this, as @bartosz said. I really like how enemies seem to be faking attacks sometimes, stopping as if they're going to attack and then don't. Really adds some tension to the game.
The music is great as well. Over all a very good game.
This is really impressive and ambitious for a game jam. The game keeps freezing for me, it seems to be when I change the speed. I felt like customers got angry a bit to quickly sometimes, but overall really well done for the time you had!
I really loved it, the ability to remove one tile from a piece really changed how to game was played, and the upgrade system was really thought out. It really got me hooked for a while!
The puzzles are really well made, gave up after level 5, it got way harder then. The only thing I'm missing is a next level button, so I don't have to go back and then select the next level in the level select screen. All in all a great entry!
Looks good and the levels are well designed, however I feel like the movement is a bit too slow. The snail is adorable though! Some levels became frustrating due to the slow pace, and having to restart because I ate the wrong pills, but other than that it is over all a great entry!
I have a custom keyboard layout, so I couldn't get to some keys on the keyboard for some reason. It was still pretty interesting though, and I could imagine it being a lot of fun with two players (I played solo). Over all a solid entry! Although the music was WAY to loud when the game started, I had to throw my headset off.
Loved the atmosphere, and the inevitable failure. This game felt great and really made me think, believe it or not.
Loved the atmosphere. I saw parts of your stream of the development of this game and it was definitely interesting. Love the lighting and great pixel art, to bad you didn't really have time to develop more levels, but the spookyness is great.
This is a pretty funny take on the theme, my biggest issue was the fact that you slow down when running into a power-up, I feel like power-ups shouldn't really hinder you in that way. I love the eyes on the spaceship! Great entry.
Really good atmosphere, and the gameplay is really fun, tried getting a perfect score, but ran into the problem where I literally didn't get the delete files power often enough to always have space on disk. Other than that it's really good! Love the clicking of the keyboard sound effect.
This is really interesting and good. The days drag on for a bit too long in my opinion, and sound would be really nice for a phone operator game :)
@seezogames thank you! I'm glad that you liked it. Yes, having the sacrifice button on V was an odd choice. Honestly it was just the first thing I set it to when developing, and I got so used to it while playtesting that I never really thought about changing it.
@kobrar Thank you! I agree that the enemies spawning near you is annoying, you get very little time with the portals before they spawn. It was a conscious choice to not have the next wave wait for the old bodies though, it's meant to hectic and you need to sacrifice while fighting at the same time :)
@hav24 I'm glad you like it! I've never been good with soundtracks, and when I try to make them I think they're annoying and actually deteriorates the experience for me, so that's why there's no music :D (also time)
@wowa Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
@dcrdro Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
@manimal Glad you enjoyed it all the way through, thank you very much :D !
@easy82 Thanks you! Yes the game is difficult. Clicking out the window is an issue, but can be fixed with fullscreen.
Yeah, I haven't had a lot of time sadly, but I'm trying to play and rate more other games, and I should market better.
I love the look of this game, but it feels a bit to closely zoomed in for my taste. Other than that it's a great concept and great execution.
"Oh, this is cool. It feels a bit easy though, like there aren't really any threats." *Clicks next day* "Your camp was attacked by bandits. They killed all your colonists."
:)
Very nice, I like it a lot.
Great and very consistent art style! The platforming is really tight and feels good. Nice job!
Snake, but a dungeon crawler. I very much enjoyed it and I think it's pretty innovative idea to combine Snake with dungeon crawling in this way. Pretty hard. Great work!
Great and consistent art style, love the landing and jumping particles! Lovely puzzle concept that could probably be expanded to really great puzzles.
This is a great puzzle game, simple rules yet the levels can get quite dificult. I love this interpretation of the theme. Amazing job!
Really pleasant game! Love the barkeeps voice, and the art is just fantastic! Great job!
This is great! Love this kind of simulator, and the random events make a lot of sense and really add to the game.
@cpokered thank you, I'm glad you find it enjoyable. I definitely thought about implementing something like that, but did not have the time.
@animo-tree Thank you for playing! I definitely agree that it is quite bare-bones. I had many ideas for how the progression would work, few of which I had time to implement.
@asimov thank you! Glad you liked the parallax. There's definitely an issue with finding things, since all the trades the NPC's offer are purely randomized, there's always a risk that you can go a long while without finding a trade for something you need.
---
@evgenimp Yes, this is definitely an issue with the game currently, the trades are always completely randomized, to if you're unlucky it can take a while to find the trade you need. Thank you for playing!
---
@bocodillo I'm happy you liked the animations and music and SFX. I definitely agree the gameplay is quite barebones. I had more planned but did not have the time to implement the system fully.
@hastro Thank you so much!
@ava-skoog Thank you for your feedback! I do agree that it does get slow, and finding what you want can be hard.
@solah It makes me really happy that you like the music, it's the first time I actually made music for a LD game.
I like the idea, although it rained way too often. I never had to use the lightning ability, the rain kept offsetting the evil human, and since there never appeared more than one evil human, it was quite easy.
I really enjoyed this one!
Amazing! Best entry I've played so far. Great music, great graphics and great gameplay. Really fun to explore the interactions of the different cards and figure out how to play optimally.
I really enjoyed this, played it to the end. My biggest complaint is that arrow keys + mouse doesn't really work very well, at least not for me. They're both to the left of my body which means I need to maintain a weird posture while playing. WASD + mouse would probably have worked better. Thank you for the game anyways, and great job! I had a blast!
This is really cozy. Not much gameplay but I enjoyed seeing the different kinds of dreams that you could create.
