LD42 — Running out of space

Hey, Hugo! by OddballDave 2018-08-22T19:33:13Z

Great game! I was thinking when I was playing: this game reminds me something... Then I read the comments and got it — LocoRoco! Very, very solid entry with smooth gameplay. Jumping/deflating was a bit difficult at times, but that's understandable for the jam game.

Wells cleaner by Sublustris 2018-08-14T11:55:16Z

Great game, my friend :) Played it several times, my max score is only 37. Very challenging game! I loved the graphics; it reminds me of Paul Robertson works.

Factory Panic by ZpeedTube 2018-08-14T18:28:36Z

Nice little game with a good match to the theme! Thank you for commenting on our game too :)

SINGULARITY by Syrapt0r 2018-08-29T12:04:26Z

It's like Elite, but very minimalistic :) And I loved Elite when I was a kid. Didn't have enough time to complete all 10 universes, but it was very fun to play. Great game!

Darkness by strong99 2018-08-31T09:08:41Z

The game looks nice and promising, but it wasn't clear, who am I hitting. Can you add some more description to your page so we can play it meaningfully?

Vogon Constructors Ltd by novodantis 2018-08-23T20:54:58Z

I really liked that this game is dedicated to Douglas Adams. It was pretty obvious to use his legacy for this Ludum Dare :) I think your game is very solid and well designed. One of those games you don't close after couple of minutes of quick evaluating.

Wingman by minibobbo 2018-08-30T13:25:52Z

Congratulations on completing the game! I liked how graphics and music remind about the classic space shooting games from 8-bit era. Interesting take on the theme :)

Bath Time by DDRKirbyISQ 2018-08-30T14:27:22Z

Meowmies are so cute, fantastic work! I liked everything about the game: gameplay, art, sounds, and music. The game is so polished!

Sink or Swim by wrexialmt 2018-08-29T12:21:01Z

I really liked the graphics, the introductory text was fun. Good match to the theme, I think. Nice little game!

Corrupted Space by egordorichev 2018-08-29T09:01:50Z

How many levels do you have? 31? That's very impressive for PICO-8 compo game! In the beginning, I didn't understand what I have to do to complete a level, and it was pretty random. But when I got the idea, I started to complete levels like crazy :) Thanks for your game, you can also try our game :)

Bomber Dash by harusame 2018-08-17T08:42:08Z

Very cool take on the theme, I like the concept and the graphics. Will play it again, definitely :)

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-08-29T20:29:13Z

I finished the game by trying everything with everything. Yeah, that was fun :) I don't find it disturbing like some other people.

You Are God by goudagames 2018-08-31T08:55:55Z

I liked this game a lot! I couldn't understand what to do and how to play on the first minute and thought that the Mac version doesn't work, but then I realized that accidentally put the game on pause. :) After that, I had a lot of fun trying to make my people happy. :) I think that the game balance is right, the game is challenging enough and fun to play. What can be improved: sounds and music, but I understand that it's a Compo game and making such complex game just in two days is a real challenge. Thank you!

Card Tower Defense by frozenfire92 2018-08-30T20:15:38Z

I liked the music and the idea. The game can be improved by slowly teaching user the rules. On my first attempt I died almost immediately (btw, the Restart button would be very helpful) which was frustrating. On the second attempt I survived to Wave 2, but still didn't get the rules completely.

Bug Squasher by erikiene 2018-08-21T21:27:52Z

Disgustingly funny game :) It would be great to have clear instructions in the game itself, on the first try I tried to smash bugs with a mouse. Then I read the instructions and had some fun. Yes, it has some potential to break keyboards :)

Eblobla by Steing 2018-08-30T11:48:03Z

Exciting game. After playing several hands I couldn't figure out any strategy yet, but previous commenters say that there is :) I think, I need to play more. I admire people who can create card games; I don't think I will ever be able to do it myself :)

Pianobots by fonserbc 2018-08-23T21:31:41Z

As a musician myself, I had fun playing this game. I think you came up with a unique mechanic. I also loved the audience audio.

Heirs Kingdom by Valter 2018-08-29T13:18:30Z

Haha, funny game! A bit difficult to play on a laptop with a track pad because of right mouse button usage, but it was still nice to play :)

Aura by Papaver 2018-08-30T11:53:39Z

The game is simple, but it fits the theme perfectly! And I liked your flute playing :)

EVOLUTION by Noa Calice 2018-08-27T22:03:26Z

Fantastic graphics! Does this game have a goal? Am I supposed to kill a planet or keep it green? Both objectives are so easy to achieve, so, not sure if it's really a game, to me it looked more like an educational experience. Did I miss something? Anyway, it's a very solid entry.

We'd be happy, if you also play and rate our game :)

Seasaw by mikkpr 2018-08-14T18:41:15Z

Cool and challenging game! On the first try I failed even on the first level. This game reminded me of the first game made by our team — Pocket Weights. I must show your game to other team members :) And thanks for leaving a comment on our game!

Metal Gear Noah by Dizzy Dalvin 2018-08-29T09:17:34Z

Very nice and smooth graphics, I liked that you can build bots and upgrade them. Had a lot of fun playing the game.

Grid Locked by DrunkardWolf 2018-08-14T18:24:57Z

Cool game! I liked the simple, but stylish visuals. Great match to the theme!

Prog-Jet vs Guardians by Bismark 2018-08-14T22:08:01Z

Didn't work for me :( Maybe my computer (iMac mid 2015) is too slow for it (I tried WebGL build in Chrome).

CapyBarbra: A New Brow by Ratherjolly 2018-08-21T22:10:43Z

I love capybaras :) Initially I didn't get what should I do and eat, until I walked around a little bit. Well, the pace is fast!

Dear Leader's Diet Plan by Historymaker118 2018-08-29T12:08:10Z

Funny game, but I couldn't win. Maybe I didn't understand something. Or is it that difficult right from the beginning? Anyway, good job and thanks for the humour :)

Blocks by Anubhav Kashyap 2018-08-29T12:12:12Z

Fantastic job for just 5 hours! Great hyper-casual game, I think. You should finish it and release as a full game. I liked the simple, fun and challenging mechanics. Very intuitive gameplay.

Sumo Warrior by G4m3M4ni4c 2018-08-30T11:59:23Z

Nice entry. I couldn't push even a single opponent out of the field, unfortunately, so I just tried to avoid as long as possible. Maybe, you could make AI a bit weaker? I miss sounds, they could make this game much more fun :)

Housebreaker by lilkrit 2018-08-23T21:18:02Z

I don't know if it's a web build, or I just didn't get how to play the game :( Some tutorial would definitely help!

Reptiloid Simulator by Mark Chepicov 2018-08-14T19:04:33Z

I liked the game and the humour is great, reptiloids are always fun :)

Space(bar)Invaders by Carraka 2018-08-17T08:26:50Z

What a unique take on the theme! It was fun, but for me the difficulty curve was a bit too steep.

Trash Smash 2072 by 2games2easy 2018-08-17T08:14:42Z

Funny little game! I didn't have somebody to play with, so I tried to compete with myself and still had fun :)

Dark Lord Ludum Dare by MartinTristan 2018-08-22T20:42:57Z

Very clever designed puzzle game! Loved the humor and the usage of different themes :)

Personal Space by ProdigalSon 2018-08-29T22:27:59Z

Very addictive game! But I'm so bad in it, I couldn't finish even the first level, need to try more! It reminded me of the classic Qix or Xonix games.

DE/VOID by randomphantom 2018-08-30T13:39:43Z

Fantastic approach to the theme, perfect match! I loved the minimalistic graphics style, which suits the game very well. Puzzle shooter is an interesting genre :)

Vain by Tudvari 2018-08-30T14:15:25Z

Congratulations on the completion of the game! Platformer in just two days is a cool achievement! Your entry can become a prototype for something bigger.

Damage Control by nolanfa 2018-08-30T20:09:07Z

The idea behind the game is great. The game itself is very difficult, I tried to achieve balance several times without any success. The game could be better with several levels with the difficulty increasing each level. Other than that — nice entry and great theme match!

Exhaustlands by Sand-Gardeners 2018-08-22T20:33:22Z

Pretty unique game, I think. The distances between places are a bit too long to my taste, but that's just me, trying to rate too many games. This games requires more time to explore. Great work! I liked the style and the atmosphere of it.

Bunny Bazooka by MZA 2018-08-29T20:38:09Z

I liked how dynamic this game is. Nice graphics, interesting gameplay. Good entry!

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-08-21T22:04:57Z

Good joke! Perfect theme match, I think :)

WeAreTheAntidote by Mowztouch 2018-08-17T08:31:39Z

I think this game should have a bit slower pace so you can understand what's happening and how your actions affect the game. It reminded me of Plague Inc. which I love a lot :)

Honest Dan's Clutteral Damage by Honest Dan 2018-08-29T08:55:57Z

I played the jam version to rate your game. I loved the character customization options, but it seems that these nice features didn't let you finish some features in time. I will definitely try a post-jam version. I liked the graphics (love pixel art!) and music. The gameplay seemed to be a bit difficult and not very clear to me.

Craig's Video Game made for LudumDare 42 That isn't even SLIGHTLY like Dig Dug 2 by GibletsofJesus 2018-08-23T21:21:30Z

I believe it's a fun game when you have someone to play with :) Nice little game, and my favorite PICO-8. Thumbs up! I would be happy if you also play and rate our game :)

Pizza Defender by Sloyd 2018-08-29T19:57:27Z

Nice little game! It would be great to have some sounds of dying zombies :) Like how smooth the game is running in the browser :)

Dumpotopia by DjeyCreations 2018-08-14T22:12:43Z

Fantastic graphics and very nice music. Other than that seems to be a regular runner-type game, but very well done. Thank you for your work!

Sweatin' Spinnin' Spacin' by blu3bird 2018-08-27T22:07:54Z

Hello from Defold community :) Nice graphics, original game mechanics, but you should include instructions in the game itself, otherwise it's impossible to understand what to do.

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-29T20:15:50Z

I think it's the best game I played on this LD, everything is so great. Want to play it again and again!

Space Warehouse by meatpudding 2018-08-30T08:46:17Z

Well designed game, I think! But I think it needs a tutorial mode (even though I had no problems understanding it). Nice Tetris-like mechanics. Do I have to buy anything or I can just skip all the ships? :)

Evil Forest Battle by devharts 2018-08-17T08:48:14Z

Nice little game. It's interesting to see a work done not in some game engine. Nice match to the theme, a nice base for something bigger.

CRUMBLE by whycardboard 2018-08-14T18:35:54Z

Very addictive game! The only problem for me were the controls. I would expect that I can click faster or hold the button to move across several cells. It took me some time to get used to the movement pace and not lose the time.

I will be happy if you also review and rate our game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/no-space-in-my-stomach

CRUMBLE by whycardboard 2018-08-14T20:07:56Z

@connell Oh, I didn't realize that :) I thought it's realtime :)

Quibble Quarrel by TJ101010 2018-08-22T20:19:11Z

Wonderful game! At first it was difficult to grasp the goo collecting mechanic (well, I'm still not good with it), but still very fun to play. Nice theme match, cute graphics and very dynamic and fun gameplay!

XORN: The Fallen God by ThibaultAr 2018-08-29T08:40:37Z

Your game looks really nice and polished, I loved the thunder effects. I think they work like expected — I got a bit disoriented each time :) Controls weren't very intuitive for me, but I think it's mostly because I use a trackpad. Thanks for the web build!

Ultimate Harvest Day by Marcelo92 2018-08-22T19:19:35Z

Very solid entry! Cool graphics, very interesting and challenging gameplay. I had a lot of fun playing it, but I didn't get all the details on the first attempt. Gotta play more :)

float and stuff by wildcard 2018-08-23T20:46:42Z

Nice game mechanics! I think it has a potential to become a bigger game, especially if you come up with more features. I'd like to have more levels, because I completed the existing ones too fast :) I would be happy if you also play and rate our game :)

Deep Down by Nyunesu 2018-08-14T21:43:55Z

Couldn't finish the game, couldn't get past some difficult place, but I really loved the game. I like platformers and your is a good one. Liked the simplicity of pixel art graphics. Thank you for your work!

Deep Down by Nyunesu 2018-08-14T22:03:11Z

@nyunesu I got stuck here: Screen Shot 2018-08-15 at 01.01.22.png I tried both ways but didn't succeed. I understand that it's possible to get past, it was just a bit too difficult for me at this point. But I think that if I had more time, I could do it. Thank you for making infinite lives :)

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-14T11:58:29Z

@allan-kong It's a snail, after all, it has to be slow! :) We designed levels for Stewart's speed, so simple speed increase will kill the game.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-14T19:47:39Z

@allan-kong @jtrink @teelin I've updated the HTML5 build on itch.io, now it should work fine, without any slowdowns!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-14T20:06:56Z

@jtrink The Windows build is also updated, I hope it works fine now (I'm on Mac so can't test myself).

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-14T21:54:31Z

@noumenie Controls are pretty typical for a platformer and they're mentioned on this page: it's left, right and space. Windows build is available at itch.io page. Thanks for your comments, I agree that we should address that and add controls info to the game.

It's strange that you couldn't complete Level 1 in a browser. What browser do you use? There were problems with Chrome before, but now they're fixed and game runs very smooth.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-14T22:05:13Z

@shredmer I want to clarify the point about slow movement. Did you watch the video? Does the character move with the same speed in the game for you? I'm asking because people reported slow work in Chrome. Thank you for playing and your feedback, we appreciate that!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-14T22:49:15Z

@shredmer Thanks for your answer. It's a snail after all, it's slow :) And levels are designed for its speed. If we increase the speed, we'll have to redesign levels.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T07:43:13Z

@proke Thanks for the bug report! The first bug started to happen after I've tried to fix the speed issue in Windows build. I'll see what can I do to have both fixed. And thanks for the screenshot, that's a really strange situation, never happened when we did internal testing. We'll try to reproduce it.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T07:45:05Z

@carraka Can't jump from the platforms going down — yes, that's a big issue, but I didn't have enough time to fix it before the deadline. As for the second level: we thought that it's pretty easy. Did you notice that there are vertical and horizontal pills? They remove corresponding platform type of the same color. Maybe, it's that trick that will help you?

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T07:45:38Z

@josia-roncancio Thanks for the bug report. It's really-really strange, we'll fix that bug if we decide to continue the game, of course.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T07:47:41Z

@enot487 Thank you! Pills are not removing random platforms, everything is very strict: there are vertical and horizontal pills. If you eat red horizontal pill, all horizontal red platforms disappear. It's the puzzle core, you need to think what pills in what order to eat, and when to use a toilet, because it can be used only once.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T07:50:19Z

@randytayler Thank you! If you keep pressing Space button, you will jump higher. I think it's a pretty common mechanic for platformers. And I'm so sorry that you had problems with colors! Actually, I mentioned possible problems with color blind people. I agree that we should have thought more about the palette, or add another elements on pills and blocks to help people like you.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T07:51:22Z

@jerripo No, pills work very strict! It seems that you didn't notice that there are horizontally and vertically oriented pills! They remove corresponding platforms.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T07:55:48Z

@devharts Thank you! Our 3-year old daughter says HELLO to yours :)

IMG_20180812_221645.jpg

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-17T08:43:17Z

@vivek-sharma20 Thank you! I think, it should be also a little more work on platformer engine :)

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-21T22:25:15Z

@wrenpirate All puzzles have solutions. WC can be used only once, it adds to a challenge of finding the right order of pills to eat. The bug with falling through the floor is known and if we continue to develop the game, it will be fixed, of course. I'm not fixing it now to follow the rules :) Thanks for your feedback!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-21T22:27:43Z

@kalcoslinder Pills, just like platforms, have different orientation — horizontal and vertical. I think we should have make it more noticeable. Anyway, thanks for your feedback!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-29T21:55:03Z

@tj101010 Thanks for your feedback! I agree that we probably took a bit too fast pace with introducing gameplay elements. But even these 8 levels were a challenge to design. Our game designer spent two days making them (I was doing all the code)! If we continue this game (and we seriously considering it), then we'll have better tutorial and visual design to address all troubles reported by others.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-29T21:56:41Z

@shakedimus Yeah, that's a problem everyone is reporting: it seems that vertical/horizontal pills are not very recognizable. It's not random, it's very strict: red vertical pill will remove all vertical red platforms/blocks, etc. We're not addressing this in the jam version, of course, because it will be against the rules.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-29T21:58:30Z

@wildcard Yes, the bug with jumping from platforms moving down was my main headache. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to fix it. Thanks for your feedback!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-29T21:59:52Z

@g12345 Yeah, someone completed all levels! We're so happy! I thought that the game mechanics will be easy to understand, because the first level already shows that there are horizontal and vertical pills and they remove corresponding platforms of the same color. Well, that's a lesson for us — create better tutorials! :)

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-30T08:00:40Z

@g12345 I played your game, but didn't understand what to do :)

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-30T10:05:24Z

@red-pill Thanks a lot for kind words! The bug with jumping from a platform is the main bug in the game now, didn't have enough time to fix it. As for pills: you just confirmed once again that this was our little failure in visual design :) Everything is strict: there are horizontally and vertically oriented pills which remove corresponding platforms of the same color, there's no randomness in this.

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-30T20:44:50Z

@zinski Thank you! I already played and rated your game, it is a very good entry!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-30T21:41:37Z

@goudagames Thanks for your feedback! You're confirming all our little faults :) I will play and rate your game soon too, of course (thanks for the Mac build!).

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-31T08:25:47Z

@ddrkirbyisq Wow, fantastic feedback! I think we all should learn how to write meaningful, still critical, but not demotivating feedback from you. Thanks a lot for taking the time to play our game and write this detailed review. Loved your game! :)

@meatpudding Thanks for your feedback! Can you clarify a bit about the bug? I think I never saw it. Are you able to reproduce it?

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-09-03T11:35:46Z

@jupiter-hadley Thank you so much! We're happy that you like it :)

Sodaboi by Tony Redmer 2018-08-17T08:00:46Z

This game is definitely more difficult to play on a touchpad, than with mouse. But it was still fun! I couldn't get much score :(

Soggy Bunny by rexpeppers 2018-08-22T20:12:54Z

Fantastic game, clever mechanics and cute graphics. It's also great that there are several levels and the difficulty raises not so fast. Great job!

Captain Graphite by honey 2018-08-22T19:06:23Z

I love games with paper drawings! I don't know, if it was a bug, but when I started a game, I had the empty field, and I flew around for about a minute until I found the first object to shoot. I think, it's better to have something to interact with right from the beginning in such games. Other than that — nice game, thank you!

This Is For You! by Drell 2018-08-14T21:10:55Z

This is so sweet and charming! Thank you for this little game. Love Pico-8! Maybe next time I will also use it to create LD game.

Block Smash - Ludum Dare 42 Entry by vivek.sharma20 2018-08-22T19:00:41Z

Nice little game! I'd recommend to add check that each obstacle can be avoided: on my first attempt I got a horizontal line of blocks that covered the whole playfield, you can't avoid that!

The Sword in the Darkness by Benjamin123 2018-08-22T21:08:21Z

Does this game has only 2 quests to do: find the sword and kill the enemy? I think that's too simple. We need more quests! I didn't understand how darkness affected anything. The map is too big, you easily get lost.

Virus: Rabbit by Rob Parker 2018-08-30T08:11:30Z

Very literal usage of the theme :) I liked this game, it's very dynamic and fun to play. It wasn't very clear for me when I'm hitting security systems (if I'm hitting it or not), some more visual feedback could help with it.

JUNKYARD by NOTBADGUN 2018-08-14T21:23:08Z

Good take on the pretty classic game mechanic. Physics-based approach really worked here and made game interesting.

Space Dog Escape by yayapipi 2018-08-17T08:56:53Z

Got 33 points on the first attempt. Nice game, loved different levels.

Oh No ! More Food : A Vegan Story by Maksime 2018-08-21T21:33:55Z

I'm not a vegan and like jokes about vegans This game looks like a good joke! :) Fun little game with nice music!

Growth Rates by kalcoslinder 2018-08-22T19:48:39Z

The idea is nice, but the game was too short! I think you should expand it.

Space Shipping by RubixNoob13 2018-08-27T22:15:31Z

This game needs more development and features! The idea is nice, I immediately remembered trading part of Eiite on ZX Spectrum.

The City Of Forgotten Toys by dk5000p 2018-08-22T19:25:42Z

Funny game! Not sure if it's a very good math to the theme, but it was pretty fun to play (though, a bit repetitive). I think that controls need a bit more work with some classic tricks from platformers, for example, I regularly fell from the edge of the platform. Sounds were funny! I love when people record sounds themselves and not using some libraries.

Poisoned Palace by jordantanner 2018-08-29T08:32:49Z

Cool game, nice graphics and sound, very solid entry. I see that you didn't give any ratings to other games. Do it as soon as possible, you need to rate at least 20 games to get your game ranked too. You can start with our little game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/no-space-in-my-stomach

Stock Up! by DriagonV 2018-08-30T08:35:39Z

Congratulations on completing your first game! Yes, it's pretty basic and needs some more work to make it better, because the idea is pretty OK and it's a good match for the theme. I almost won in strikeout mode! :)

Classic Snake (Made by 12 yr old) by James51332 2018-08-21T21:40:09Z

Good job with your first Ludum Dare entry! When I was 12 I also wanted to create games, keep going!

Three Men in a spaceship (To Say Nothing of the AI) by d954mas 2018-08-14T21:18:45Z

I think the concept is pretty nice, but for me it wasn't very fun to play. Liked the graphics and emotions of the crew.

Summer's Lease by WrenPirate 2018-08-22T19:44:22Z

I will try to play it again to go through various branches :) I like interactive fiction, but some pictures would be a nice addition to the game.

The Gentle Giant by Red Pill 2018-08-30T09:02:26Z

As usual: never read instructions! So on the first attempt, I crushed everything and got an instant GAME OVER. Then I read instructions and got pretty far :) Tutorial is a must (I played Jam version because the link to Post-Jam version doesn't work). I liked how you took the familiar runner mechanics and applied the theme to it. Graphics are super nice!

BOX IT! by Laminariy 2018-08-14T19:03:07Z

Funny game! Hello from Russian Defold community in Telegram. I'd be happy if you also rate our game :)

Got to the planet 3, almost got to the last one, but my first black hole exploded. Will try again! Nice little game, pretty good match to the theme.

WearOut by Abhis1Kadian 2018-08-21T21:54:50Z

I don't know, maybe something is wrong with HTML5 build, but I just moved a bit to the right and kept pressing W key, killing one enemy after another, without any difficulties or space running out. Maybe something happens later, but then the pace is too slow. Unfortunately, I can't try the Windows build, because I'm on Mac. But I like the idea and theme match!

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-29T20:06:29Z

Very good game, great theme usage, interesting mechanics. Well, everything is really-really good! I had lots of fun playing it. Thanks for letting players skip levels, it's very handy!

Changing spaces by Shakedimus 2018-08-22T19:10:47Z

That was challenging! When I realized that I should avoid my own bullets, the game became much more interesting :) I think it's a nice match to the theme.

Deadly Confines by ParkerDuncan 2018-08-30T13:32:49Z

Bullet hell with space running out! Sounds like a nightmare game :) Actually I liked it, though the controls were a bit difficult for me (I'm on a laptop with a trackpad). What I liked the most is that the difficulty is rising not too fast, so I could finish several levels before I finally died. Nice music and graphics too.

Out Of Mind by Biebras 2018-08-20T21:04:47Z

Nice game, thank you!

ChoppaFly by Lux77 2018-08-31T08:36:36Z

Arrgh, I almost broke my keyboard last time I failed! :) With such a simple game and simple mechanics, you managed to make a very challenging game. I liked the graphics, especially all the details in the level design. On the first attempt, I thought that I can fly in any direction and couldn't understand, why am I not moving anywhere, but then I quickly realized that it's, actually, a 2.5D game and everything went smoothly after that.

Thanks for your entry, it is a fun little game!

DataSkream by Sollara Games 2018-08-29T08:47:24Z

I didn't have that much time to play, so I got only about 3000, but it was pure fun to play! I love rhythm games, and your game is definitely something unique, very nice use of the theme.

I'd be happy if you also play and rate our game :)

SpaceOut by Lou Bagel 2018-08-14T21:33:35Z

It could be a great entry for the previous LD as well! In the beginning I didn't realize that I can also fire balls and died pretty fast, because lasers are overheating so fast. But then I launched balls and it really helped.

[ARK_DRIVE] by Josia Roncancio 2018-08-17T08:37:21Z

I'm on Mac, so I just read the source. Now that's a creative approach to a game :) Never saw a game in BAT file :)

California Jane by fivenamefivesocks 2018-08-30T20:22:25Z

Great game, one of the best I played this Ludum Dare! Everything is great: art, music, mechanics and multiple levels! This game looks production ready :)

Tejuru (Tetris & Jump & Run & Digger & Unicorns) by larzan 2018-05-03T12:24:58Z

Great game and SO challenging! It's so difficult to concentrate on two different gameplays, but definitely fun to play. Our team also created a Tetris-related game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tanktris Try it out, please! :)

Rock Bottom by Jungle 2018-04-23T23:06:30Z

That's a great game even that it's not too fun to play, but the message is what makes this game a Game. My close friends suffered from depression. Thank you.

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-05-03T11:49:55Z

I love rhythm games, so I had to play it. I didn't read the instructions first and didn't get the idea, but on the second try I got it and really had fun "chatting". Rhythm patterns seemed a bit unpredictable to me, but I think I could get used to it after some time. Nice entry and theme match!

PS: Love the OP-1 sounds :)

PPS: I'd be happy if you also try out our games: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/good-hamster-dead-hamster and https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tanktris

That was fun to play. I suddenly realized that over 10 minutes passed and I still play it :)

Bruxa: Tactical Espionage Cooking by edugargollo 2018-05-03T11:43:19Z

I think you matched the theme pretty well, but I agree with @gerox that the character moves too slow. Other than that — nice entry!

Thanks for the web build! Great game, Sergey!

Dance Dance Ratatouille by vividreality 2018-04-25T14:14:57Z

I love rhythm games, so I had lots of fun playing it. The music is great, but it seemed to me that the sync between music and graphics was a bit off. I was a very skilled keyboard Stepmania player and I love perfect sync :) I wonder if you can fix it (I played macOS version).

Yum Some!! by frostByte4k 2018-04-25T13:38:36Z

Now that's a funny game! It's so challenging on the trackpad (I don't have a mouse). I couldn't get past the carrot challenge, but still liked it :)

Type to Win by net3ton 2018-04-24T20:45:59Z

That was fun! But too short. I want more :)

Shadowscape by Gonz0 2018-04-24T23:11:19Z

Very unique idea, liked it a lot! It was good to play and to listen to the music before going to bed.

Flayer & Puck by Blix 2018-05-03T09:56:24Z

Had some difficulties in the beginning and couldn't finish the game, but it was definitely fun! I don't know if there were some visual bugs in the web build, but sometimes the picture looked strange. Anyway, great entry!

And our team would be happy if you also check out our two entries: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/good-hamster-dead-hamster and https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tanktris Thank you :)

Mr Mushroom by Pebel 2018-04-25T09:30:24Z

Nice match to the theme! The controls were a bit difficult because the red cross in the game was a bit misplaced compared the normal mouse pointer. If that's fixed, the game could be nicer to play.

Just Relax by plufmot 2018-05-03T10:01:12Z

I love rhythm games and chiptune music! I think you can expand it to become a bigger game, really loved playing it. Our team (Wise Hedgehog) would be happy if you also try and vote for our games: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/good-hamster-dead-hamster and https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tanktris :) Thank you in advance!

Is it only me or the letter 'e' is VERY RARE? Ok, I got shield but couldn't get a helmet or refill a health even once :) Other than that — pretty funny game.

Typewriter Dungeon by Jaime Paz Lopes 2018-05-03T12:16:14Z

I liked the word selection, that was funny. Managed to complete the game! It's a great match for the theme.

I wonder if you can also rate our games: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/good-hamster-dead-hamster and https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tanktris

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-24T22:59:25Z

@Lerg @wramp @meskaline @Sargarious @Lamasaurus @Tuteupaituamae Thank you all for the kind feedback! Do you want to have this game improved and built into something bigger? We've got tons of ideas, but we want to know, if people want it? :)

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-24T23:01:36Z

@Mowztouch I'm on Mac, but I will ask one of our team members to prepare the Windows build. Will publish it on itch.io tomorrow. Thank you for request!

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-24T23:11:51Z

@Gonz0 Thank you! I had tons of fun recording this song :) I checked out your game, it's really nice. I rated and left the comment. Thanks for the web build!

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-24T23:15:27Z

@frostByte4k The rules are based on the classical Life. But each cell-hamster has HP, attack, defence and "alive" parameters. "Alive" controls the maximum amount of neighbours (3 for classical Life) you can bear with. Instead of immediate death, hamster loses HP when there are too little or too many neighbours of its kind. When there are neighbours from other squads, hamsters attack and defend themselves. Terrain also affects hamsters: when they're on the grass, they eat and restore HP, when they're on water — they lose HP because they can't swim :) I'll check your game tomorrow (opened it in a tab to not forget). Thank you!

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-24T23:16:43Z

@Gonz0 Only me. Live guitar, vocals, everything else is sampled.

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-25T05:24:14Z

@net3ton Thanks for the feedback! Read the description above. Map does a lot. Hamsters don't move through mountains, but I agree it may look like they do :)

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-25T13:42:40Z

@felix-kern DIE HAMSTER DIE HAMSTER DIE DIE DIE! :)

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-25T14:32:05Z

@kilosaurus We have tons of ideas for improving the game (we're going to continue developing it) and finding a good way to have short game sessions is one of our priority tasks. Will you be interested to continue slaughtering hamsters? :)

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-25T14:33:15Z

@Alex13 Yes, that's why it costs only 1 skill point. We'll be working on the game balance. It was pretty difficult to do in just 2 days, but I believe it's pretty good for the start.

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-25T14:48:41Z

@Lakrits Nice ideas! Thanks for your suggestion!

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-04-25T20:46:31Z

@Mowztouch We've added the Windows build. Enjoy the game!

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-05-03T14:08:51Z

@jaime-paz-lopes Thank you for the feedback! We're working on these improvements, and the post-jam version will definitely happen. It was pretty difficult to balance in the limited time we had. And it's interesting that for some people it's difficult to find a winning combination, but you're smart! :)

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-05-05T12:19:05Z

@Jupiter_Hadley Thank you for playing our game and including it in the video! We'll fix the problem with a player not understanding which hamster is yours :) And as for resetting Attack — the jam version always resets squad settings to default ones every level. We've fixed this bug already.

Good Hamster — Dead Hamster by Sandy Marcius 2018-05-05T12:20:21Z

@Hisfantor It is based on Game of Life, but extended — each cell (hamster) has HP and can attack cells of a different kind (other hamsters). Thank you for your feedback!

Late for Love by Gaze Team 2018-04-23T23:29:42Z

That's a 100% match for the theme! :) Racing and dating simulator are so incompatible!
