This is very good idea. I almost learned to type faster. The order of letters needed is somewhat breaking the typing flow, but otherwise it would work for learning how to type. But very original idea.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Typewriter Dungeon

That was really well executed. I liked how you used the word choices for tutorials and atmosphere.
I love typing games, and this one was great. My only suggestion is that I think the words should enforce accuracy (i.e. reset if a wrong letter is typed) and enforce that the letters are in the right order. Otherwise I really liked it, nicely done.
An a typing enthusiast I wish that the speed was much higher! I love a challenge. Fun project!
The core idea is interesting, but I there wasn't very much content. What you did make was well done though. It would've been interesting to make it a bit more than an exploration type game. The sounds were very satisfying. Good work!
I think it's an interesting premise for a game. As somebody mentioned, the educational aspects of this game could be great with further improvements. You could add a combat system in which different weapons have different difficulty/length words associated with them that you need to type in order to deal damage. Whilst you're doing that, enemies could be simulating typing words to damage you (maybe there are words associated with the armour you're wearing, the better the armour, the longer the word the enemy has to spell to hurt you). Overall a good interpretation of the theme, although I would probably speed the player character up a bit.
Nice work man. Great
The messages built in to the typing prompts gave the game an awesome, kinda creepy vibe. The eerie background wind and typewriter sounds added to this a bunch too.
I like the idea, but the lack of order of entering letters and the penalty for mistakes, spoils everything a little
nice idea with solid execution. Not much content, but short enough not to bother
Dungeon crawler and typing game is definitely a weird and super interesting combinaison for the theme. The atmosphere of the game is great too, with the sentences put together by the words. It's just too bad the game is too slow. A time limit would have added an interesting challenge. Overall, it's a cool concept that deserve to be developped. Good work !
votei em meu amigo brasileiro, e aproveitei para te seguir, boa sorte meu amigo
You did a good job implementing the mechanics. I think the character should move way faster between words. Also, the graphics and sound could use some polish.
Great idea, solid execution, like @korteh said. It's got a creepy ominous feel to it, and I like the way the words you type give clues about the layout of the dungeon. I managed to get to the exit, but then had to scan for 10 minutes to find the key. It was incredibly fun! And I learned to type faster. Great job
This was an amazing concept, good job!
could have made this more interesting with a couple puzzle elements that build out of absolutely nothing. because there's no ordering for words, imagine you have 2 paths. the one correct path uses the word "corridor" and the other path, a dead end, uses the word "corr". if you type C-O-R, you'll go down the dead end path on accident. in stead, you need to type I-D-C-O-R so that you get all the letters of corridor at the same time. then you make it so the longer word always wins or something.
This was a great idea! Some lighting effects could really help this game I think
This was a really cool idea. I have some recommendations. Trying speeding it up so that the player can walk farther per word. Make it a little easier to get the keys. And I was hoping that the words would tell a story.
Great mashup! I love that the story is built into the typing portion.
Nice execution, cool concept, maybe look into extending it ? Well done.
Really interesting. If I could give some feedback though, I'd first repeat what someone said: having to type the right letters in the right order. Right now you can just roll your head on the keyboard without any penalty.
Another thing that would be really nice for people like me that types really fast, would be to see future words (like some cells away) and then typing words "in advance" would allow your character to go faster towards its destination... Then with some timer function we could basically hit high scores by typing fast and accurately! Would love to play once more if want to push the concept further
good idea but tends to be quickly frustrating. maybe it would have been better to introduce something to make it less repetitive
Very smart approach! Really well done! I love the concept
There's not really much here, you came up with an idea and implemented the core mechanic, but didn't do anything with it. The art is not pleasant to look at, far too much gray.
Wonderful idea to have the story inside the typing. It added a lot to the immersion of the game. Very good execution of the conflict between two incompatible game genres, very consistent and solid aesthetic in the game and all in all a very well made game.
Neat. I like how you type sentences as you progress. Not to fan of the graphics. Except for the typewriter referenecs
Nice short concept :). The typewriter sounds are very satisfying and the words are well chosen and add to the overall atmosphere.
Best aspects: - The words (choice of words and sounds)
Tip/Suggestions: - The graphics are a bit basic, maybe add a bit of lighting to match the overall tone a bit more. - Maybe make it so that you have to type the letters in the right order to make it even feel more as a typewriter.
All in all an interesting mashup and love the typewriter aspect.
Great idea!
Nice I like how the words themselves actually gave hints on where to go. I think if you added some obstacles this could be a great game!
This is a wonderful idea; I'd love to see the concept fleshed out into a full game. I can only imagine how much fun it'd be with, say, monsters chasing you PAC-MAN style.
You did a fantastic job with the mood - the visuals/audio really set the atmosphere, and the creepy, foreboding messages worked into the text were so cleverly done. I imagine you could use the same system to warn players of traps or give them clues about other areas in the dungeon.
Great work!
Really cool idea! It plays a little bit slow though. Speeding it up 50% or so would make it a lot more playable.
Nice work!
I liked the idea, and the thought you put into the word placement (making the little intro text a part of the tutorial, for example) really showed a lot of care went into it.
As others have said the game gets a little old quite quickly, though... It's a solid foundation that just needs juicing up a bit!
The idea is actually very interesting and could make a fun game. However, the execution is off in a way that was probably hard to predict until actually trying it. I think you were a little focused on the dungeon aspect of the game, when in reality, the method of control really is incompatible with dungeon exploration. It's just really tedious and slow to have to retrace your steps through a dungeon by typing the same words over and over again. You also tried to trick players with the words, which added to the frustration. Instead, the game could have been way more interesting if you focused on it being some kind of write your own story book, or like that game people play where they take turns adding a word to form a sentence and make a story. Your intro was a perfect example of this. You could chose "created by" or "made by". I thought that was very clever. Rather than having players backtrack through a series of words which may or may not have anything to do with the actual dungeon design, you could just have them chose paths through a story and play sound effects or display images based on their choices.
Nice choice going with the typing game hybrid. Our team came to the same decision that there aren't enough typing games in the world. The sounds and feel of this game are great. I especially like the word choices as you progress. Look into maybe adding some monster chases or something to add some franticness to the mix. Good job making this feel very polished though!
Really like the idea and always wanted to try some typing game. The art you use plays well with the mood and I like that. There is just one thing you might consider changing/fixing and that is the part when you'll get the key. When you'll get the key, you will head back thru the corridor, however you can actually go back to the corner again (where the key was before) and if you do that you'll get stuck and there is no way you can continue as there are no letters to type. I know that this is not a behaviour you would expect someone would do, but it can happen :) You did a Good job!
I don't have a lot of patience and almost lost my shit when I realized I needed a key haha. I liked the sounds with the ambiance, it created good pacing. I wish that instead of moving 1 unit, you would just go from current point to the end of the corridor. I think this would have made it a little bit quicker pace, and made it feel slightly more dynamic. I thought the idea hit the theme, and enjoyed the experience.
The typing was not responsive so I could only tap in the direction. Nice concept but couldn't play. I like the mood though.
I really enjoyed the concept you had. The choice of words to type made me laugh, but it didn't always make sense with the ammount of backtracking needed (to get lost, or find the key, or whatnot). I think the way letters typed was detected made it a weak typing game. Because it detects a key stroke for every instance of the letter, there are a few places where you can comlete multiple words simultaneously. If you choose to go back to refine the concept, that's where I'd suggest starting.
The words made me wonder what the whole 'path' must look like. It could've been a little darker for my liking, darkness lends itself well to spooky games.
Neat game! I especially like the typewriter sound effects.
Sound effects are great. But there nothing much to do. After some time it gets boring. I think we need more content on the map here.
You nailed the mood in this one. The sound effects and background ambiance were perfect. My only suggestion would be to speed up the walk speed and maybe only have the character stop at intersections or dead ends. It got a bit tedious backtracking when you realized you went the wrong way. Overall though, this is a very solid entry. Nice work!
Original take of the theme! By chance, I have found the key and reached the end at first try without being lost, so I explored the entire dungeon before going back to the exit, just in case I missed something… I would have seen a full typing need, instead of a "all letters of this kind disappear", but except of that, good job!
We enjoyed exploring your dungeon, as well as the sound effects and the music; they set the mood quite well. Well done!
It's a good start, and I love the choice of words that write out sentences. I think it would benefit a lot from more variety (adding monsters or puzzles?) and making it faster. It's a little boring to keep having to type just to make the character walk down a straight hallway.
Very interesting idea. I found it a bit boring though. Also I think it would have been better if you have to type the letters in the correct order. Right now you can basically just smash some keys on the keyboard until you move.
I also found a bug: If you find the key, walk away and then back to the key, you are stuck and can not progress further.
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

i LOVE THE CONCEPT!!! Would love to see it expanded.
Really awesome idea and implementation. The typewriter reload sound got annoying very quickly though. Good job
good sound effects and background music, creates a scary mood, but the words are somehow misleading for me.
That's a cool idea. But I find the character movement a bit slow. As said above, you can develop the concept by adding some fight or obstacles that hurt the character and some words that look alike for misleading the player. If the character move faster, the player will have less time to choose the path and I find this more thrilling ! ;) Good job!
I liked the word selection, that was funny. Managed to complete the game! It's a great match for the theme.
I wonder if you can also rate our games: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/good-hamster-dead-hamster and https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/tanktris
Nice concept! I thought this fit the theme very well! Great submission!
Great game! My only thought was I wish I had to type the whole word. Words like "Corridor" are 8 characters long, but only take 5 keystrokes as the order doesn't matter. I think it would be better if you actually had to type the words in order. 8 characters = 8 keystrokes.
I agree with what some people said about movement or missing the key. The speed is a bit frustrating but the core concept is fine. Don't know if you've played Epistory but that's a great entry in the typing dungeon crawler genre (uh I guess there's only 2 games in it). But you can essentially play as fast as you are good at typing. If you can harness that same feeling you're gonna have something really fun since it's the typing that probably the fun part of your game.
This is cool! I liked how the words I'm typing are telling me a story as I traverse the dungeon. It looks like letters in all words get cleared as I type (rather than just the word I started typing). I really liked the typewriter sound effects.
