LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Croak by Jackson Frankland 2018-04-25T14:18:55Z

I was struggling super hard to get past 2 points haha. It is so weirdly rewarding killing the bugs and getting past them. The little love bump they give you into the car is kind of perfect. I, unfortunately, don't have the skills to get that far. I really did enjoy the movement of the bugs, and the music the most :)

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-04-25T14:36:58Z

That game felt so eery, yet educational xD Really hit the theme on point. I felt my heart pumping as I answered the questions. I also don't deal with scary well, so maybe it was intensified for me xD I liked the render of the scene. I think the default volume for the footsteps was kind of loud. It overtakes the ambiance a little.

Polix 3D - a Ludum Dare 41 game by NacelleGamesLLC 2018-04-25T14:26:22Z

First off, I love tetris. So I was excited when I saw that word. I really liked the way the pieces were rendered. At first I was super confused about how to win or lose and what piece was "next". Then I got the hang of it and it got more fun. The mouse took a while to actually lock, which was a little weird - but was not a big deal. The music was good, and I liked the dynamic volume on the sfx with the size of the piece you completed. The only things I felt was missing, was maybe a minimap that gives you an idea of what colors are where, and potentially a less intense sound onClick. Great work overall!

Gem Labyrinth by Reylisten 2018-04-26T15:59:12Z

Or gorsh, that was a very delightful experience. The music and the animations and the characters pulled me in and engaged me in a very fun game! At first, I was a little confused how to hurt enemies until I eventually did. My greed got me killed on level 2. When I went to replay it crashed saying me time needed to be positive and was -.02. Regardless, very adorable game and great execution!

Litur Teningur by Vinterskog 2018-04-25T14:56:44Z

I did not win the game jumping off the side lol. That was a pretty fun experience. The overall tone felt calming, and I didn't feel rushed in any means. It felt like some sort of puzzle discovery. With each progression upwards, I felt some sort of accomplishment. I also have a jacked up mouse wheel, so it was really really really hard to switch colors :c I also enjoyed the music. I think the only things to me is how close you are zoomed in. At some points it felt kind of hard to see where to go next.

Feed the Beat by Benstar 2018-04-25T14:31:25Z

OMG I FREAKIN LOVE THIS. I accidentally stumbled across this while reviewing another game on itch.io and loved the art. The feel of the game, the music, and the theme are on point. For a gamejam, I'm super impressed by how much was able to be polished into this game. Thanks for a fun experience, and great work!

Rogue Pawn by Arden 2018-04-26T03:20:12Z

This was so insanely good. I had 0 expectations and loved the art, sound, pacing, and mechanics. The theme and execution felt spot on. I just had fun popping around and killing the enemies. It felt so rewarding.

Beat Em Shmup by CaptainDreamcast 2018-04-26T14:17:42Z

My favorite part was the gigantic fists that spawns to "shoot" / attack. The sound and constant movement of the game made my eyes go craaaazy haha. I liked that you were able to encorporate narrative in the game on top of the top-down shooter on rails.

Puzzle Golf by Jiri Hysek 2018-04-26T14:26:15Z

I got a score of 34+! This was a really great concept, and the execution was stellar. The mechanics and the pacing felt very fair, and the progression wasn't brutal. I felt accomplished with each hole, and enjoyed each stage's challenge. The only thing I wish happened was seeing the ball fall into the hole rather than it just dissapearing. There is just something weirdly satisfying seeing a ball drop into a gold hole. Really great submission!

Hungry Hungry Shippos by Joe Sycalik 2018-04-25T14:50:09Z

Got to 354, then I was like - oh no I'm too big D:

I was a little confused at first how to actually get bigger. Thinking that shooting them did it, then I learned from my mistakes and god huge!

Interesting concept and gameplay. The dynamics of the enemies, pacing, and placing felt good. The only thing was the sounds felt kind of intense in contrast to the actual game. O

Type Ball by Yanni 2018-04-26T13:45:59Z

@jharler When the ball is in your hands you press Space Bar to shoot and then it shows the word on the billboard. I had an issue where sometimes the ball wouldn't roll over to you, making it so when you press the spacebar your character does a stealing animating. Sorry, it was acting bad :( I appreciate you checking it out!

Type Ball by Yanni 2018-04-26T14:19:26Z

@jharler I'm glad it was able to work! I think I'm going to be working on this more after the voting is all done. I think with better progression this could be super fun C: Thanks for giving it another go, I really appreciate it!

Ms Grunhilde's Sandwiches by pparadigm 2018-04-26T03:25:37Z

Very cute little game. Even though I maxed out the delivered goods, I still felt inclined to make more sammichs C:

Stupid Monkeys by Dylan Fries 2018-04-26T14:34:56Z

I got to 142 months. I think that the mechanic of moving around and the model felt a lot like a chess piece. I would break the game into 2 parts, the movement and then the second mechanic (probably fighting). When a battle happens to make it a different type of input and make it super engaging/challenging. Let the movement on the board be the break/relaxing while the other portion feeling tough / engaging. Then using music as a tool to intensify both types of feelings. Looking forward to your second pass at this game!

Typewriter Dungeon by Jaime Paz Lopes 2018-04-25T14:44:58Z

I don't have a lot of patience and almost lost my shit when I realized I needed a key haha. I liked the sounds with the ambiance, it created good pacing. I wish that instead of moving 1 unit, you would just go from current point to the end of the corridor. I think this would have made it a little bit quicker pace, and made it feel slightly more dynamic. I thought the idea hit the theme, and enjoyed the experience.

Good Boy vs The Bad Boys by ludomyth 2018-04-26T14:11:40Z

Enjoyed the art style, the vivid colors, and the sound effects. I think I may have clicked things too fast because my health bar was at like 500% haha. I think my favorite asset/part of the game was the UI for the cartridges. I thought this was a clever way of doing a card system, but still making it relevant for the style.

I also wish the robot bobbed up and down a little. There was a lot of movement on the screen and seeing him move linear took away from all the character that was put into the game. Overall, a fun experience!

Tried unzipping it and the game wouldn't play :,(
